About the Muse
🌟 INFO
Tumblr media
Name: Azura Nicknames: Azzy, Little Sunflower Faceclaim: My art, Goldie Vance (most icons), Vanessa Hudgens (FC) Age: In her 20’s, if time ever makes sense for her again. Height: 5’3" Gender: Female Sexuality: Demiromantic Bisexual Nationality/Species: Human / The Protagonist Occupation: Multidimensional traveler, escaped test subject Relationship status: Married to Alvin Anderson @obsolete-parable
🌟 STORY
Many years ago, Azura’s soul served as a housing unit for one of the powerful six Infinity Gems- the Space Gem. It granted her the ability to travel across the multiverse with ease, with a constant downside; she doesn’t know how to control it.
Having spent years of wandering through different universes Azura had her shares of triumph and trauma; ending up catching the eyes of power hungry individuals- be it a demon from another dimension or a greedy corporation determined to use her ability for their selfish desires.
Due to this, Azura had become increasingly high-strung and finds difficulty in trusting others, struck with fear of being honest and vulnerable. She had survived death time and time again due to the nature of her indestructible soul, making her prone to habits of self destruction.
🌟 PERSONALITY
Strengths: Sassy, cunning and altruistic, she strives to be a person of integrity. Will put other’s needs before her own. Will definitely die for you if you get on her good side.
Flaws: Reckless, naive. Suffering from intense anger issues and outbursts. Prone to suicidal and self-harming tendencies due to her invincibility and the fact that she had survived death itself.
🌟 INTERESTS
Likes: Journaling her travels, helping others, listening to the rain and watching the stars. Big fan of cats and pranking people. And maybe picking fights with the wrong folks too.
Dislikes: Loneliness. The dark. Demons. Making deals. Memory wipes and white rooms, electrocution. Losing her autonomy as a person. Being a living weapon. The dark sea.
Ambitions: Finding a place to call home. Feeling worthy enough to be redeemed.
Fears: Bugs, dogs. The sea. Nightmares of her past doings, rejection, betrayal, being controlled against her will, brainwashing, demonic possession, losing herself or the people she cares about.
🌟 ABILITIES
TELEPORTATION
Azura can teleport abruptly along with her emotions, can simultaneously jump in and out of danger when she is terrified enough. It’s something that she still needs to master, and due to this she finds herself teleporting to worlds that she had never been before, even when she sleeps. Her mind and emotions are linked to this specific ability, hence why she is able to stay to places that she feels connected to for a while.
PORTALS
In line with her teleporting powers, Azura now knows how to pull others with her through reality as well as creating doors/traps for others to go through. In certain times of stress, her human form will shed and expose her powerful and ever-changing core, looking like a living breathing portal herself.
SELF-DEFENSE
One of her father figures saw that Azura needed to practice the art of self defense due to her dangerous travels. She is moderately skilled in hand-to-hand combat, both armed and unarmed. Uses swords to defend herself if it’s available, though hesitant.

Hiii my cutie 💕 top five wlw stories please? In any genre and medium
Three for three so far! Because this is another stellar ask — as well as a nice reminder of how far media has come, because not only are most of these recent, but I didn’t have to try too hard to find happy, more positive ones. And even better, I really could find stuff in most of my favouite genres. Viva more inclusive media!
P.S. It was actually hard to limit these to only five!
Let’s hope that trend continues:
OBLIGATORY MENTION: It’s a low-level crime, that Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Rosa and Alicia (Gina Rodriguez’s character) can’t be on this list. But seeing as that they haven’t had more than an adorable meet-cute at this point, I couldn’t justify it to myself. But I feel the need to note that if we are fortunate enough to have her reprise this role in at least a minor recurring capacity next season, you’ll have to come and resuscitate me, because I’ll probably be dead. Like. Look at this!!! (I’m all three of them in this scene.)
Tumblr media
5. Amy and Lucy (D. E. B. S.)
What happens when you’re your spy agency’s top agent, but you just happen to be set up on a blind date with and then fall for the criminal mastermind who’s the basis of your thesis project? This movie. Directed by Angela Robinson (who herself is queer and alsoresponsible for the polyamorous Wonder Woman creators backstory film Professor Marston and the Wonder Women last year), this film is a tongue-in-cheek parody of Charlie’s Angels. This means lots of wacky spy hijinks and some cheesy dialogue, but it truly feels like the queer spy AU I’ve always wanted. I also appreciate that there’s a B-story about female friendship and what it means when your friend embarks on a new relationship. (Side Note: This movie pairs perfectly with Spice World and SClub: Seeing Double, you’re welcome.)
Tumblr media
4. Goldie and Diane (Goldie Vance)
Goldie is pretty much living my dream ages 7 to.. well, pretty much now, seeing as she works at a local holiday resort where she also solves mysteries with the help of her best friend Cheryl (who wants to be an astronaut) and her girlfriend Diane (seen in all her chic glory, below). This comic is relatively new but it’s one of my all-time favourites because the art style is gorgeous and retro, the mysteries are fun and modern, and Goldie herself is fully-fledged and already iconic. And on top of all that, we get to see her initial crush on Diane, followed by them beginning a relationship all with very little drama. It’s cute and sweet, just what this book and our hero deserve. Also, I know it sounds weird, but I kind of have a crush on Diane. She’s just so ridiculously cool. (And she’s not even wearing her leather jacket.)
Tumblr media
3. Lena and Stef (The Fosters)
I haven’t caught up on the last two seasons of this series, but I did catch a bit of the season finale (which really focused on their relationship and Stef coming to terms with her dad’s death and his not having accepted their relationship) and it just drove home how special it was to be able to watch five seasons of a loving, committed lesbian relationship play out on TV. These ladies have been through so much together — and that’s excluding the insanity their five kids put them through. And I know they’ve gone through some rough patches, but it made me only love them more because relationships can be hard and require work and it was nice to see both these women doing their best to put in the effort. But more than that, the show allowed us to see them be funny and sexy and cute and domestic, amidst all the drama, which only makes this relationship so special. I hope we’re all lucky to find that kind of partnership some day.
Tumblr media
2. Carmilla and Laura Hollis (Carmilla)
Freshman journalist investigates and then falls for dark and mysterious vampire roommate, and then proceeds to get into all sorts of vampiric and demonic shenanigans with their inclusive group of friends. It sounds like some kind of wild fanfic idea, only it’s a real web series that ran for three seasons and then blessed us with a movie. And honestly, there is so much to love about Carmilla and Laura’s relationship. They’re both the tough and strong one and the soft and sensitive one, and better yet, they take turns being that for each other. Their chemistry crackles, the emotions (both positive and negative) come through, and even more importantly, they’re endlessly watchable together. Because they have that push and pull and give and take that is at the heart of all great pairings — and I could not be more grateful to everyone involved.
Tumblr media
1. Waverly Earp and Nicole Haught (Wynonna Earp)
Just as her sister Wynonna is off learning how to become Wyatt Earp’s latest heir, the ever-delightful Waverly goes on the fun journey that is discovering that your sexuality isn’t as defined as you thought it was — especially when she falls for the cute new female police officer in town. (Of course, while all this is happening we’re graced with all kinds of revenant-hunting and demon fighting goodness where both women show off their admirable skillsets.) But the best part of Waverly exploring her bisexuality and feelings for Nicole is that in many ways we get to see the “real” Waverly come out when with someone who appreciates how smart and insightful she can be and treats her with all the respect and adoration she deserves. And the same is true for Nicole, who while also being softer and more vulnerable around Waverly, also lets her see her more ambitious and determined side. It’s a sign that both women are at their fullest with each other, trusting one another with the best and worst parts of themselves, which is what good relationship allow you to do — even if one of you is constantly in mortal danger. Bring on Season 3 already.
Tumblr media
HONOURARY MENTIONS: Valencia and Beth (Crazy Ex Girlfriend), Petra and JR (Jane the Virgin), Bingo Love by Tee Franklin (I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve heard good things), Black Lightning (I have yet to watch it because I was waiting to marathon it), Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst, Ash by Malinda Lo, Rasha and Zoe (Degrassi: Next Class)

She knows when all the most iconic rides were built, all the shortcuts around the park, and all the secret lore behind Old West Town, Space Age Metropolis and New Princesston. So when she winds up in the REAL version of Wanderland, with real princesses and adorable talking woodland creatures, Bellamy is sure that she has GOT this. Greetings readers!
I would just like to point out that everyone is out there living their best lives reading the new SJM book and here I am, not reading it, AND LIVING MY ABSOLUTE BEST LIFE.
Thank you more entertaining my one moment of pettiness. I just really needed to let that loose. Phew. Thanks.
Okay so…February was a MONTH, but also a pretty amazing one for reading if I do say so myself! I had two books enter my all time favourites list this month and that is MIRACULOUS! Truly an iconic month! That one extra day really made a difference.
March on the other hand is going to be HELL ON EARTH! I can feel it in my soul and see it on the calendar full of due dates and exam dates. If you’re into prayer, please pray for me. If you’re into spell casting, cast a spell for me (a good one). If you’re into vibez, please send me all the good vibez!

What Rendz Read
Sabrina & Corina: Stories by Kali Fajardo-Anstine (5/5 Stars) Review See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson DNF Review Untamed Shore by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (4/5) Review The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams (4/5) Review The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso (5/5) Review Charlie Hernández the Castle of Bones by Ryan Calejo (4/5) Review The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu (5/5) Review New Orleans Rush by Kelly Siskind (3/5) Review
8 books read in February! That is amazing, considering how busy I was before my reading week break! BUT DANG I GOT BOOKS READ.
The Haul
No bought books!
Penguin Teen Canada Hunted by the Sky by Tanaz Bhathena
Simon & Schuster Canada Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From by Jennifer de Leon
St. Martin’s Press Frida in America: The Creative Awakening of a Great Artist by Celia Stahr
She Writes Press The Way You Burn: A Novel by Christine Meade
Other Going-Ons
THE TWO BOOKS THAT TOTALLY ROCKED MY WORLD
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso
The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu
Two titles that are so different, but totally changed my life. I have not felt the ease of giving a perfect five starts in a long time. I’ve had five star reads, but still in the back of my mind were reservations about them. Not these two. These were instant 5 star reads for me. I am so overwhelmed by emotion when I think about them. And when I say they are totally different, they ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT.
One is an adult high fantasy with lots of murder and backstabbing and general mind-fuckery (excuse my language) and the other is a YA historical fantasy that is an emotional roller coaster that made me sob.
I AM IN LOVE WITH BOTH OF THEM!
WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO THE SHADOW & BONE TV SERIES!
Filming has wrapped and y’all the video they put out. The one with all the cast! The one with my cheeky son, Ben Barnes. I died. I died. I died. BUT I AM LIVING because I cannot wait for more news! Especially since there is a trailer that allegedly exists!
  https://twitter.com/shadowandbone_/status/1233444251771510784
LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE EXCITING HAPPENED.
It was just another month for the books. I mean I would talk about stuff that happened in March, but then what would I have to write about next month!
Posts of the Month
Romance Reading Round Up | Part 2 // Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
My New Found Love for Audiobooks | (A Second) Discussion
Tumblr media
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Audiobook) Goldie Vance and the Hotel Whodunnit by Lilliam Rivera (ARC) The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren (ARC) And then probably a couple of more audiobooks since I will not have much time to sit and read physical books…maybe one more who knows!
We are definitely going to play March by ear. Of course there are some things coming our way LIKE THE RELEASE OF MULAN WHICH I PLAN ON SEEING OPENING NIGHT! Even though I’ll have ten things due the following week hehehehe…
Let me know what you think! How was your February? Did you read anything life changing? Did that extra day help topple the TBR?
Happy reading!
~ Rendz

So when she winds up in the REAL version of Wanderland, with real princesses and adorable talking woodland creatures, Bellamy is sure that she has GOT this. That is, until it starts to become clear that this magical land isn’t much like the real world park at all, and the characters she thinks she knows aren’t at all like she’d imagined.

Some Fairy Tales Aren’t Exactly A Dream Come True in September 2018
BOOM! Studios unveiled today a first look at WELCOME TO WANDERLAND #1, beginning a new four issue limited series in September from writer Jackie Ball (Goldie Vance) and artist Maddi Gonzalez (Elements) where the most magical place on Earth might actually be a nightmare.
Bellamy Muñoz knows everything there is to know about Wanderland Park. She knows when all the most iconic rides were built, all the shortcuts around the park, and all the secret lore behind Old West Town, Space Age Metropolis, and New Princesston. So when she winds up in the REAL version of Wanderland, with real princesses and adorable talking woodland creatures, Bellamy is sure that she has GOT this…that is, until it starts to become clear that this magical land isn’t much like the real world park at all, and the characters she thinks she knows aren’t at all like she’d imagined.
“WELCOME TO WANDERLAND is a hilarious, creative look at what happens when you allow the art that you love to inform your growth, instead of stifle it,” said Shannon Watters, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Jackie and Maddi have created a lush world steeped in humor and theme park geekery together and I’m so excited to share it with readers.”
WELCOME TO WANDERLAND #1, featuring a main cover by Maddi Gonzalez and a variant cover by Brittney Williams (Goldie Vance), is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning BOOM! Pacat and Johanna The Mad; and Goldie Vance by Hope Larson and Brittney Williams.

Ssalefish GSO First Look #1 for 4.5.16
First, an introduction! My name is Stephen Mayer and I'm one of the managing partners of the new Ssalefish Comics location in Greensboro along with Jay Ewing and Ssalefish Winston owner Bret Parks. It's been a dream of mine to own a store of my own ever since I began helping Bret prep his new comics on Wednesday mornings back in...2005? So welcome to my dream come true 12 years later!
We're not ready to open for regular business hours in the Gate City quite yet, BUT if you'd like to make a special order via the "Shipping Next Week" page or would like to set up your subscription pull list now, we'll be happy to accommodate, and you can come pick up your books during the posted business hours here starting Wednesday, April 5th at 8 AM (for the earliest new releases in the Triad)!
Now the lowdown on this blog! The new "Shipping Next Week" widget doesn't update until Friday morning, but we know what's coming out by Wednesday, and I don't like keeping you guys in the dark, so I'll give you a jump on things every Thursday, right here. This will also help clarify what's going where since both locations won't have all of the same items at the same time (but a special order from W-S or GSO is never a problem and can typically be filled the very next day)!
I embolden the books that I'll be taking home to add to my personal collection, but I still read a breath of other books, so don't be afraid to ask my opinion on anything when you're in the store.
Even though I don't list them individually, we do carry all variants for the DC Rebirth titles as well as many other alternate and limited edition covers, so feel free to inquire.
The following titles are scheduled to ship on Wednesday, April 5th, excluding some re-orders and providing nothing changes by the time the final invoice arrives on Monday:
