“Geralt, I’ve been invited to a wedding and I’m allowed to bring someone,” Jaskier announced happily after carefully reading the letter, he had just received.
“That’s nice,” Geralt answered and continued cleaning his armour, silently wondering, who Jaskier would bring.
“Will you go with me?” the bard asked. Geralt looked up in surprise and cocked his head, parties were not really his thing.
“Please?” Geralt let out a sigh. For some reason it was hard to say no, to these big blue eyes and this smile.
“Sure. When and where?”
Jaskier jumped up happily and hugged Geralt. “Yes, thank you, it’s a month from now and on a farm near Oxenfurt, we can stay in an inn in the city. Maybe we can stay a couple of days. I’m sure you will find some well paid work there and I could meet some old friends. It will be fun.”
Geralt awkwardly patted Jaskier’s back, not sure how to deal with the sudden closeness of the bard.
“Who is even getting married?” Geralt asked.
“Jules, she is a friend of mine from back when I was at the university. She studied Philosophy. Her betrothed is called Thomas, I don’t know him yet, since I haven’t seen her in a while. But she wrote about him occasionally, he seems to be great”, Jaskier explained. Geralt had never been fond of feasts, too many people. But since it was held on a farm, it probably was much better than these royal banquets, he had to attend occasionally.
They arrived in Oxenfurt the day before the wedding. It had been important to Jaskier to still have some time left, because obviously they needed to get some clothes for the wedding.
Geralt had taken on a contract, while Jaskier went to a trusted tailor, to get something nice for the next day. Something had made itself at home in the Pontar to close to the city. Geralt easily managed to get rid of it and when he returned to their room at the inn, Jaskier had already returned.
“Look what I got for you,” he said excitedly and laid out the clothes on the bed.
They actually looked really good. A pair of black trousers, that looked like they would be pretty tight. The shirt and doublet where in dark green with a flower pattern.
Before leaving for the wedding they had taken a bath. When he got dressed, he realized the pants really where pretty tight and the doublet was tailored in a way that showed of his waist. He was impressed at how Jaskier managed to get that fitting clothes without him being present. He looked at Jaskier who was standing in front of the mirror, straightening his doublet. Geralt’s jaw dropped. Jaskier looked really good in his new clothes. The doublet was beige, with golden embroidery and crème highlights. It fit very well around his figure. Jaskier’s hair had just been washed and fell over his forehead, it looked fluffy and Geralt really wanted to touch it. Of course he didn’t, why even should he want to touch it, that didn’t make any sense.
They arrived at the wedding in the afternoon, not long before the ceremony was supposed to start. The ceremony would be held in a temple, after that the feast would begin on the farm belonging to the groom. Jaskier seemed to know quite a lot of people and Geralt felt a little out of place, while the bard was chatting to different guests. He always introduced Geralt, but they were talking about times at university, so Geralt couldn’t really join in. But at least Jaskier had fun, and it was nice, watching the bard being happy.
The ceremony was beautiful, bride and groom where wearing flowers in their hair. Her dress was in a beautiful light beige, he was wearing light blue and they both looked like they were really in love. Geralt had to admit it was much better then he had expected, none of this weird and boring shit the royals got up to and not too long. Everyone seemed eager to get to the party.
They left the temple with the other guests after the bride and groom. The farm wasn’t far away and apparently everything was already prepared. It was decorated with flowers, many tables with food and drinks were standing around. Jaskier took Geralt’s arm and dragged him to some table covered in flowers.
“Look they have flower crowns for the guests,” he said excitedly and took one, putting it on his head. It made him look… cute. Geralt was not sure, where this thought was coming from. Before he could think about it to much, Jaskier had grabbed another flower crown and turned to Geralt.
“And one for you,” he announced.
Witchers don’t wear flowers in their hair that was really not fitting for him.
“I don’t think, I need one,” Geralt said.
“Bollocks, it will look pretty on you.” Geralt couldn’t resist the hopeful smile on Jaskier’s face and lowered his head, so Jaskier could put the flower crown on his head. Jaskier took a step back and looked at him.
“Yes, very pretty,” he determined, looking happy. Geralt couldn’t help but smile. “Wow you look even prettier, when you smile.” Without thinking, Geralt extended his hand and cupped Jaskier’s face, his thumb brushed gently over Jaskier’s cheek, before he withdrew his hand and turned around.
“Come, we should find something to drink,” he said, trying to distract himself from what just happened and the fact that he had felt the strong urge to kiss the bard. They found some wine, that smelled good, so Geralt took two goblets and handed one to Jaskier, who thankfully took it. They were standing together in silence, for a while, watching the other guests talking, eating and drinking. Jaskier put down his empty goblet and turned to Geralt.
“We should go and congratulate the couple; I should also introduce you to them. Come,” he said and took Geralt’s arm to pull him with him. The couple was standing in the middle of the yard, some people in front of them, talking to them, but they soon left and Geralt and Jaskier stepped up to them.
“It is so great you made it, Julian,” the bride, Jules, Geralt remembered, said, as Jaskier stepped up to her and kissed her cheek as a greeting. “I don’t think you met Thomas before,” she introduced her new husband.
“No sadly not, good to meet you,” he said and extended his hand that was shaken by the husband.
“May I introduce my friend, Geralt of Rivia,” Jaskier said, pointing to Geralt. Geralt lowered his head as a greeting.
“An honor to meet you. May the bond between you be blessed and your marriage happy,” Geralt said with a smile. Jaskier took the chance to talk a little more with his friend, about what they were doing now. Geralt quietly decided to leave them for now and look around a bit more. Music was coming out of the barn. He took a look inside and saw people dancing and on stage some bards playing music. He found himself some ale and food on a table and took some. In a corner some people were playing Gwent, he stepped closer to have a look. He did like the occasional game of Gwent. One of the guys looked up at him.
“Joining us for a game, Witcher?” he asked.
“What are you playing for?” he asked.
“Oh, just for fun,” was the answer. That did sound promising, nothing to win but also nothing to lose, just some fun so he got out his deck. The first round didn’t work out to well for the Witcher, he soon realized he could not reasonably win it so he quickly passed but he had managed to pull some cards out of his opponent’s hands and the second round was much more in his favor. So, everything would come down to the last round. While he was still thinking about his first move, a hand fell down on his shoulder. Without even turning around, he knew it was Jaskier, he could smell him and without being able to stop himself, he smiled.
“Are you gambling?” Jaskier asked, Geralt could hear the smile.
“No, we are just playing for fun,” he answered and played his first card. Jaskier plunged down next to him and leaned against his shoulder. He felt the warmth from his arm, Jaskier was leaning against, wash over his whole body, the smell in his nose drowning everything else out. It suddenly was hard to focus on the game, but the last round usually didn’t require a lot of tactics anymore. It mostly came down to who had the best cards left. And apparently that was him, but just by a couple of points.
“Oh nice, you won,” Jaskier stated happily and hugged him from the side. Geralt gathered up the cards and thanked his opponent for the game. Jaskier let go of him and they got up.
“We should dance, Geralt,” Jaskier said with excitedly.
“I don’t dance,” Geralt answered. He wasn’t even sure, he could dance.
“Oh, come on,” Jaskier said and grabbed Geralt’s hand. He started walking towards the barn, but was stopped in his tracks, because Geralt was just frozen in place, staring at their hands. His skin was pickling and his head seemed to be filled with fog. They were holding hands and Geralt couldn’t say that he minded it. Jaskier took a step back towards Geralt and looked at him.
“Are you alright?” he asked. Geralt tore his gaze away from their hands and looked directly in Jaskier’s blue eyes.
“Yes, yes,” he answered absently.
“Then come on.” Geralt allowed Jaskier to pull him to the barn, where the music played and people were dancing. The bards on the stage were playing a fast and fun sounding jig and Jaskier was jumping right in, pulling Geralt just with him. And somehow the way Jaskier jumped to the rhythm of the music, while holding Geralt’s hands was contagious and Geralt allowed himself to let go, only to be carried by the music, being led by Jaskier, dancing, jumping and spinning together, he heard a deep laugh and it took him a moment to realize it was him who was laughing. Jaskier laughed as well and he had to admit, he was having fun. The world was spinning around them, Jaskier the only constant. Everything else was getting lost in a blur.
He tugged at Jaskier’s hands, pulling him closer. The bard was stumbling against him, laughing out loud and grabbing Geralt’s shoulders. Geralt’s hands moved to Jaskier’s hips and held him close. There faces were merely inches from each other. Jaskier looking at him that happy, had to be the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The music suddenly moved to the background, he barely heard it anymore, instead he heard Jaskier’s heartbeat, smelled his familiar scent and couldn’t see anything else then his face. Suddenly it hit Geralt. He was in love with Jaskier, the way he felt, the way he wanted to hold him close and never let him go, it was love. Absentmindedly he lifted his hand and straightened the flower crown on Jaskier’s head, during the dance it had slipped a little.
Jaskier’s hands moved up and cupped Geralt’s face, they felt warm and soft on his cheeks and Jaskier’s face came closer. Without thinking, Geralt closed his eyes and then he felt Jaskier’s lips on his, soft and warm. His head was spinning, his thoughts only going in one direction, not wanting to let Jaskier go. His hands tangled up in Jaskier’s hair, like he had wanted to do earlier that day and it was indeed extremely soft.
Jaskier pulled back and looked at him, his hair disheveled, eyes dark and a smile on his face. But the smile suddenly vanished, he looked down and the hands disappeared from Geralt’s cheeks.
“Jaskier,” Geralt whispered. “What is it?”
Jaskier looked up at him and he suddenly looked sad. Geralt’s stomach turned, he started to feel worried.
“I’m sorry, I got carried away,” the bard said and took a step back. Geralt let him. Did Jaskier regret kissing him? Did he regret letting Geralt close? They were still standing in the middle of the dance floor, people dancing around them.
“Should we go outside for a moment?” Geralt asked. He felt like they needed a little privacy. Outside it had gotten dark already, they turned a corner and behind the barn they were alone.
“What did you mean, you got carried away? You didn’t want to kiss me?” Geralt asked carefully. Jaskier was looking to the ground, fumbling with his hands.
“Yes, no... I don’t know?” Geralt put a finger under Jaskier’s chin and tilted his head up so they could look at each other. He could smell Jaskier’s nervousness.
“Do you regret kissing me?” Geralt asked.
“No? I just didn’t want to push myself on you,” Jaskier answered and bit his lip.
“And if I wanted to kiss you again?”
Jaskier’s eyes widened. “Really?”
Geralt didn’t answer, he just moved in and kissed Jaskier again. The stench of anxiety vanished and was replaced by happiness. Jaskier’s arms wrapped around him and he pressed himself against Geralt.
“I love you,” Geralt whispered carefully, unsure if he was doing the right thing. It just felt like he needed to say, what he was feeling right now. Jaskier pressed his face against Geralt’s shoulder and his grip around him tightened.
“I love you too, Geralt,” he said, looking up at Geralt with a bright smile.
Geralt had one arm wrapped around Jaskier’s waist, the other stroking his face and hair, pressing little kisses to the bard’s lips, cheeks and jars, enjoying holding him close.
“Should we go and enjoy a feast some more?” Jaskier suggested. “We can enjoy time alone later, when we are alone again. There is more free food and alcohol to enjoy.” Jaskier smirked. Free food and alcohol did sound compelling so Geralt agreed and Jaskier took his hand, pulling him to the yard again.
“Look at this, an abandoned bottle of meat,” Jaskier said waving a bottle around. “Would be a shame if no one would drink it.” Geralt smiled and snatched it out of Jaskier’s hands. The bard pouted in response and it was the most adorable thing ever. Geralt opened the bottle and took some big gulps before he handed it back to Jaskier who also drank a good portion of the wine.
“What is going in there?” Geralt asked, pointing to the pig enclosure b where a group of people seemed to have fun.
“Some kind of game, I think. Come we should take a look,” Jaskier said, taking another mouthful of meat and tugging Geralt’s arm to make him follow. Two pigs in the enclosure had a yellow circle painted on their backs and one lad was running after them. Some men and women where standing around it cheering him on.
“What is going on here?” Jaskier asked one of them.
“Lads’re racing to be crowned King o’ the Swineherds. And win the prize that comes with it for their wench – um, lady, meaning,” the man next to him explained.
“What are the rules?” Jaskier asked interested.
“You need to herd the piggies dabbed in yellow into the pen.”
“That sounds fun, Geralt you should win the prize for me,” Jaskier said excitedly.
“And become King of the Swineherds? That has always been my dream,” Geralt answered sarcastically.
“Please?” he said and fluttered his eyelids. Damn, it would not take long for Jaskier to realize, that he could basically get everything from Geralt when he looked at him like that.
“Alright, I will try it,” Geralt agreed and after the man who had been trying his luck gave up he entered the enclosure.
It had sounded easy enough, herding two pigs into the pen, but they never walked in the direction he wanted them to walk. He could of course use Axii, but that would be cheating so he just stumbled around after them. He could hear Jaskier laughing and actually cheering him on, at least he was having fun. Because Geralt was looking at Jaskier, he was not paying attention to where he was walking and tripped over one of the pigs, which made him fall into the mud. Like the mighty Witcher he was.
“Damn,” he cursed. Now the nice clothes were ruined.
“That looks like too much fun, he heard Jaskier saying and as he got up, he saw Jaskier climbing the fence. Laughing he started running after the pigs, trying to herd them in himself, Geralt tried to cut them of and just caught a pig that was trying to walk away between his legs. He carried it to the pen and set it down there. Jaskier was stumbling over his own fee, as he had been staring at Geralt and landed face first in the mud. Geralt could not stop himself and started laughing. But of course, he went to help him up. Only Jaskier seemed to have other plans and pulled Geralt down. He did not expect that and fell into the dirt next to Jaskier. The bard was giggling madly and as Geralt looked at him he couldn’t help himself but started giggling as well.
“You look like a pig,” Jaskier giggled.
“And what do you think you look like?” Geralt asked, taking a hand full of mud and throwing it on Jaskier’s head.
“Asshole,” Jaskier said, still laughing. He rolled to his side and let his dirty hand rest on Geralt’s dirty cheek. The flower crowns had been lost in the mud somewhere.
“Oi, if you are not playing right, leave and let the others have a go,” someone yelled at them. Jaskier jumped up and pulled Geralt up.
They left the enclosure and looked at each other out of breath but still giggling.
“I don’t think, we should stay, as filthy as we are”, Jaskier said.
“I think there is a lake nearby. Let’s get cleaned up a bit,” Geralt suggested. He took Jaskier’s hand and led the way. On their way he grabbed a random bottle from a table and took it with him.
It was a warm night so taking a bath could be fun. They jumped in complete with clothes, since they were covered in mud and needed to get cleaned a little. They managed to get most of the mud off from their faces, hair and clothes. Geralt just took off his doublet and shirt, to wash it out and then laid them out on the grass next to the lake to dry. Then he took off his trousers to do the same. He didn’t really think about it until he turned around and saw Jaskier staring at him. He had been naked before in front of the bard and right now he still was wearing his smallclothes. But that did not seem to bother the bard.
“You alright?” Geralt asked smirking. That snapped Jaskier out of his state and he started to get out of his dirty clothes as well.
Before they could get cold, they left the water and lied down on the grass next to their clothes, waiting for the warm night air to dry them. Jaskier grabbed Geralt’s hand and interwind their fingers. Above their heads millions of stars were sparkling and maybe they would just lay there until the next morning, watching the stars and falling asleep at some point.

TCM’s 1939: Hollywood’s Golden Year Celebration Week 1
Every Friday during the month of July, Turner Classic Movies is highlighting the year 1939. Why is this year important 80 years later? Some of the best films in cinematic history were produced in 1939. The actors were fantastic, the directors were innovative, the stories riveting, and it felt like every film was a bit of a hit.
To honor TCM’s celebration and these films that are timeless (and perhaps have a bit of relevancy 80 years later with their themes), each week I will list the must see films airing on Friday on TCM! I will also give you a blurb about the film and why I find them must watches!
Friday, July 5th Must Watch Films:
The Old Maid (airing at 1:45 pm)
Starring: Bette Davis, Miriam Hopkins, and George Brent
Charlotte has a rendezvous with her cousin Delia’s ex-lover on the day of Delia’s wedding. Unfortunately, her love ends up dying in the Civil War, leaving Charlotte alone to have their child. Once Delia finds out that Charlotte has an illegitimate, she offers to take the child in as her own. Jealousy and family secrets threaten to strain the cousin’s relationship throughout the years.
Why You Should Watch It: Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins are delightful in the film together. The tension that they had towards each other on set actually really works with this film. It also has a pretty juicy story line for a Production Code era film.
Only Angels Have Wings (airing at 3:45 pm)
Starring: Jean Arthur, Cary Grant, Richard Barthelmess, Rita Hayworth, and Thomas Mitchell.
Bonnie is a cabaret singer who leaves her boat at a stop at the port of Barranca to go exploring. She finds some American flyers who take her to the hotel owned by their boss. Bonnie then meets Geoff, who is the leader of the flyers. Bonnie falls in love with Geoff, even though he doesn’t want to be attached to any woman because he doesn’t want to be kept from flying dangerous flights. Then trouble starts when Geoff’s ex, Judy, and her husband, Bat, arrive.
Why You Should Watch It: Cary Grant is tough as nails in this film but so easy on the eyes. Also Jean Arthur is a delight! Rita Hayworth is great in this film, considering it was one of her first meaty roles! Also danger! Adventure! Planes!
The Wizard of Oz (airing at 8 pm)
Starring: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hamilton.
Dorothy Gale gets swept away to the land of Oz during a tornado that touches down by her Kansas farm. She meets the Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man, and The Scarecrow. They all have a desire to go see The Wizard and ask for things they are missing. However, things don’t go as planned when they cross paths with The Wicked Witch of the West.
Why You Should Watch It: This is one film I recommend everyone sees at least once. It has such a childlike innocence to it, and it really shows Judy Garland in one of her best roles. There is also some really interesting behind the scenes stories of this film, which are always fun to look up after you watch it!
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (airing at 11:15 pm)
Starring: Charles Laughton, Maureen O’Hara, Cedric Hardwicke, Thomas Mitchell, and Edmond O’Brien
In 15th Century France, Quasimodo is sent by Frollo to kidnap Esmeralda. He gets caught and ends up getting flogged. Esmeralda is the only one who brings him water when he is tied up in the square and he grows a fondness for him. So when Esmeralda is accused of murder and sentenced to death, he tries to help clear her name.
Why You Should Watch It: Charles Laughton is absolutely WONDERFUL as Quasimodo. His representation of him is probably one of the most sympathetic! I also like how this film has a great Gothic feel to it. This is another film I recommend everyone watch once!
Gunga Din (airing at 1:30 am)
Starring: Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Cary Grant, Victor McLaglen, Sam Jaffe, and Joan Fontaine
Three soldiers are stationed in British India during the Thuggee uprising. One of them wants to spoil their fun and leave the service to get married. The other two trick him into one last mission, which ends up having the three of them against the Thuggees as the rest of the British army is going towards a trap.
Why You Should Watch It: Cary Grant and Victor McLaglen are hilarious in this film! The shenanigans they lead Douglas Fairbanks Jr. on are just so wild, they are perfect to watch!
Come back next week and I will tell you some more 1939 films you should tune into!

Part 3
4 weeks later in Hollywood
"You know what's Sunday night?" Holly stood before Thomas while he was reading through a chapter of Amanda's book.
"Hmm?" He finished highlighting a paragraph and turned his attention to Holly. "Oh. Yes, I am aware of what the night is. Unfortunately, I have to attend." He detested having to go to these type of functions. Why his profession felt the need to honor each other every few months was beyond his comprehension. Somehow though, he was receiving a special award from the AFI for his his time and contributions to the up and coming student filmmakers.
"I don't think you should go alone." She straightened some files on his desk, avoiding the glare she knew he was giving her.
"I see no problem going alone. I have done so in the past and have made it through just fine."
"Yes, but imagine the media attention you would receive if you showed up with a date on your arm." She glanced over her shoulder, checking to make sure Addison's eavesdropping was going unnoticed.
"I don't want or need their attention." He stated in a firm voice. "Besides, who would I ask at this late notice?"
"I think you should take Amanda." Holly held her ground though she longed to step back a few paces when his dark gaze pinned her to her spot.
His eyes moved to the cracked door of his study. "Ms. Sinclair, why don't you come inside so you can hear my response better."
They heard a gasp followed by a sheepish Addison. "Sorry." She mumbled.
"Now that you are both here, let me reiterate what I said at the beginning. Amanda and I are nothing more than collaborators and--"
"Aren't you friends?" Addison interrupted then took a step closer to Holly when he stood up and leaned forward.
"As I was saying. We are collaborators and friends. Nothing more. Whatever romantic notions you have bouncing around your minds should be immediately popped."
Holly swallowed nervously. "If you took Amanda, then people would be excited about the movie."
He folded his arms and thought about that. "They will be excited about it due to the popularity of the book. Our going about together won't make a difference."
Addison nudged Holly. They had practiced and prepared for such an argument. It was time to throw down the final one. "Amanda would like to go."
His angry stance eased somewhat. "What are you talking about?"
Addison took up the argument and ran with it. "Amanda told me how curious she was about Hollywood events. She wondered how similar they were to the ones she attends at court."
He grimaced as he thought of her going with him. What harm could it do to take her along? They could attend as friends. Gain attention for the movie. And he would most likely enjoy the time better with her humor and observations.
"Very well. I will see if she wishes to go with--"
"She does!" Addison covered her mouth after her outburst. "I mean...I went ahead and told her you needed her to go so that I could make sure she had a red carpet worthy dress." She quickly stepped behind Holly as he glared at her.
"I suppose then the next thing needed to be done is alert them to my bringing--"
"I already added her as your plus one." Holly moved behind Addison and ducked down.
"Then I believe we have nothing further to discuss." He walked out of the study in disbelief. Those two were much too concerned with his private affairs.
He went upstairs and knocked on Amanda's bedroom door. When he heard her call out, he stepped inside. She wasn't in there, but her extension cord led him to find her on the balcony. She was typing at an alarming speed, brow furrowed in concentration, with her bottom lip tucked between her teeth.
He felt his lips quirk as he watched her. In the past few weeks he had learned all about her little idiosyncrasies as she had his. Their work habits had some similarities in terms of focus. He knew she needed to finish getting an idea out without stopping or she would most likely lose it. He waited silently as she worked. After she finished a paticular point, she gave him her full attention.
"Sorry about that. I was about to come find you and see what you think of this scene I just finished.” She smiled as he sat down next to her on the padded glider. When he overheard her say that the balcony was the perfect place to write with its beautiful views giving inspiration, he had surprised her the next morning by having a glider bench and table placed outside her balcony door.
“I look forward to reading over it.” He bent forward and rested his elbows on his legs as he looked out over his backyard. “I understand from Holly and Addison that we are attending the ceremony together this weekend.”
She laughed at his resigned expression. “Yes, we are. I am looking forward to it. I have watched so many awards shows in the past that I can’t wait to actually experience it in person.” She playfully nudged him. “And it gives me a chance to clap and cheer for someone I actually know.”
Thomas grinned as he straightened in his seat. “I think I am going to enjoy it more so with your company.” He motioned to her to let him see her work. He paused in reading it as he watched her writing down some more notes. “Amanda, you haven't stopped working since you arrived.”
She looked up in surprise. “I guess I haven’t. Huh. I didn’t even realize it.”
“It’s my fault.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “This weekend, why don’t we take a break? With the award ceremony Sunday, we can spend Friday and Saturday relaxing. What do you think?”
He realized he was holding his breath when she turned the full effect of her delighted smile on him. “I think a free weekend would be lovely.”
After much discussion of how to spend their time off, they settled on sharing their favorite films with one another. They had everything from Hollywood’s golden age to a few foreign favorites, some of which the other had not yet seen. Amanda shared the 1959 Japanese horror, The Ghost of Yatsuya with him and he shared the 1946 French fantasy La Belle et la Bette. They talked for hours about the storylines and filming techniques. On Saturday night, they fell asleep on the couch while watching silent movies.
Thomas awoke with a start when his doorbell rang. He looked over at her curled up on the other end of the sofa. She opened her eyes and frowned at the sound of the doorbell ringing again. Amanda sat up with a groan. “I’ll go start your coffee while putting the kettle on.” He followed her out of the room and went to let Holly and Addison in.
“We’re here to get you two ready!” Addison said in an excited sing song voice.
He motioned for them to come in. Holly had a garment bag draped over her arm while her partner in crime had a large cosmetic kit. Amanda popped her head around the corner. “Are those for me?” She jumped when the two pounced on her and dragged her upstairs.
“Don't think you are off the hook, Thomas.” Holly called out over her shoulder. “We demand to see what you are planning to wear.”
He let out a frustrated groan and followed in their wake.
Many hours later, he stood with a glass of scotch, fighting against pulling at his bowtie. His black tux and stark white shirt accentuated his dark features. He checked the time and tried to remain patient with how long it was taking Amanda to get dressed. He knew the blame rested entirely on the shoulders of the two assisting her.
“Get ready to be blown away!” Addison rushed down the stairs. “Here she comes!” Holly followed close behind her and turned to watch his expression as Amanda came down.
Thomas straightened the moment she came into view. Her hair had been caught into an elegant updo, with a few loose curls to soften the severity. Her mermaid style crimson gown hugged curves that he had not realize she possessed. As if in a daze, he walked to the foot of the stairs to meet her. She smiled and stopped on the next to the last step. “You look incredible.” He said softly.
“Thank you. You look rather incredible yourself. I believe you should wear a tuxedo more often.” Amanda’s eyes moved over him and a slight blush appeared on her cheeks. She had thought he was handsome before. To see him like this, was just...wow.
He held his arm out to her. “Shall we, your grace.” She let out a chuckle while shaking her head. “By all means, m'lord.” They walked out the door and into the waiting car, completely occupied with one another.
“Did they just leave without even noticing us?” Holly asked in disbelief.
Addison nearly jumped up and down. “They did! Holly, we did it! We finally got them to both notice their attraction to one another.” She let out a dreamy sigh as she began to imagine the perfect wedding dress she would design for Amanda.
Thomas took Amanda’s hand and slipped it into the crook of his arm when they stepped out of the limo. He felt her tremble when she saw the crowd. "Just smile and keep moving forward." He whispered as he squeezed her hand. Flashes from cameras captured the moment when they were looking at each other with smiles on their faces.
They were stopped every few steps by reporters, anxious to know what was really going on between the two of them. Together they fielded questions and about their relationship, insisting on their friendship being the reason the were together.

Back in Cordonia
“She looks beautiful!” Nadia said when they saw Amanda and Thomas approach Ana De Luca. “And Thomas is a hunk!” She turned the volume up and they listened to the two talk about their collaboration and who they were wearing.
“She wore my color.” Olivia pointed out proudly. “I never knew Thomas Hunt looked like that. He reminds me of that actor in those old movies she makes us watch all the time. What's his name...Cary Grant. No wonder she agreed to stay in his home.” She knew she would be teasing her friend as soon as she called.
Liam remained quiet as he observed the two. He couldn't quite place his finger on it, but it seemed like there might be something more to their relationship.
Maxwell reached for the popcorn Drake had recently brought in. "I don't know if I will ever get used to seeing her rub elbows with famous people. Hopefully Thomas is keeping an eye on her."
"From here, it looks like he has both eyes on her." Drake noticed how the director was looking at her.
Nadia rolled her eyes and settled snugly against Maxwell. "Of course he is looking at her! She is doing all the talking right now."
A sly expression came over Ana with her next question. “I know all of Cordonia is wanting to know. Will Thomas be returning with you for the social season, your grace?”
Amanda’s smile grew mischievous. “Of course he is. After all, the movie will be filmed there.” She thanked Ana and walked away before the reporter could clarify her question.

Thomas chuckled and placed his hand on lower back as he whispered in her ear. “Remind me to take you with me to all these type of events I have to attend. I’ve never seen anyone shut Ana up like that before.”
“I suppose I could be persuaded to dress up and be your escort.” She teased, blushing some as she felt a jolt when his breath tickled her ear with each word.
They made it through the gauntlet of reporters and found their seats. During the ceremony, Amanda and Thomas were caught on camera whispering and silently laughing. Holly and Addison became more and more excited as they watched them. “I think they are actually sitting even closer to each other than the last time the camera caught them.” Holly said in surprise.
When Thomas’ name was called, Amanda kissed his cheek and whispered her congratulations. He was still surprised by her impulsive action as he went to the stage to give his speech.
He thanked those who had been a part of his inspiration and the many talented individuals he had worked with. Thomas spoke of how the students he worked challenged him to be a better filmmaker and he was grateful for them pushing him to never become complacent. He smiled warmly at Amanda as he spoke of how much he was looking forward to making more movies and seeing what the future held for them all.
Later that night, they milled about with others at one of the afterparties. A few cameramen had been allowed inside the venue and were trying to capture as many pictures as they could of the Hollywood elite.
Amanda took a glass of champagne and found a deserted table to sit at. She had lost sight of Thomas an hour ago and had been rescued by Matt Rodriguez. Apparently Addison had told him all about her, so he already felt they were friends. The friendly action star had introduced her to many others and even danced with her a few times.
Her clutch started vibrating and she pulled her phone out. "Is this the award winning director I have heard so much about?" She teased.
"We won't go into that. Where are you? Last time I saw you, you were stuck listening to Marcus go on and on about how superior the Dutch are." Thomas moved about the room, searching for the lady in red he had arrived with.
"I escaped to the back of the room. I may or may not be able to move again. Once I sat down, I realized that the heels Addison forced on my feet are actual torture devices. I'm surprised the Geneva Conventions allow these."
Thomas turned to where tables were set and saw her. Once he was sitting down beside her, he felt his earlier anxiety disappear. He had observed a few people flirt openly with her, causing something in his stomach to churn. He was not about to analyze why it did not sit well with him to see her in Matt's arms on the dance floor. The man had been nothing but a gentleman and Thomas knew he was truly a decent person. He chalked it up to worry over her possibly being hurt if she ended up dating an actor. She was a friend of his after all. That had to be the reason.
Amanda wondered if he had spent all his time with the raven haired model that she had caught glimpses of playing with the buttons of his shirt. Thomas had certainly not seemed put out by her attention. She should not care who he spent time with. It was merely a shock at seeing him in a setting such as this. She had probably gotten used to having him all to herself. And being a friend of his, she only wanted him with the best person out there. He was far too kind to be stuck with any of these narcissistic people.
"Do you think you can make it back to the car or shall I find a way to roll you out?" Thomas smirked when she swatted his arm.
"And just when I was thinking how nice you are, you go and hurt me in my time of need." She shook her head in mock sadness and placed a hand over her heart. "I am wounded, Thomas, wounded. Not only physically but now I am bleeding emotionally. I do not think I shall ever recover from such cruelty."
"And with that, I now realize you have been in Hollywood far too long." He rolled his eyes and helped her stand.
"It's the air. I think drama is part of the mixture."
"Most likely. Are you ready to go?"
His expression softened with her next words.
"I am very ready to go home. But first, thank you for taking me with you. I have had a wonderful time seeing and experiencing this type of event from your world." She slipped her arms around his waist and gave him a quick hug.
He stopped himself from holding her longer in his arms and quickly escorted her to the car. "Yes, well I am glad you came with me."
Her eyes twinkled with humor. "Does this mean I might get asked by Addison again to be your date for the evening?"
"I believe next time I will be the one doing the asking."

AU in which Thomas' best friend drags him to yoga class with her because she doesn't want to go there alone, Manu happens to be the super cute teacher and Thomas is head over heels for him and tries not to embarrass himself in front of Manu (and fails)
“But I don’t need to go to yoga! I’m fit enough!!” Thomas exclaimed, shooting Lisa an exasperated look.
She only lifted a single eyebrow. “You mean you don’t want to go. C’mon, you promised!”
Thomas huffed. “Just because you don’t want to go alone.”
It wasn’t like Lisa wouldn’t go on his own, he knew. She was one of the toughest people he knew, and beautiful on top of that – if she hadn’t already had a boyfriend when they’d first met, maybe they would have become something else than best friends. Though by now, she was more like the sister he never had.
“We were an uneven number last time,” she’d said a week ago, complaining about how everyone else was already paired up, “and it’s not like I mind doing the exercises with the teacher, he’s a nice guy, it’s just that I’m not nearly as good as him so I can’t keep up. Also he’s way too heavy for me.”
She’d slapped him when he’d made a remark about if Georg knew about her doing gymnastics with another man, wiggling his eyebrows. Of course he didn’t mean it, but in the spur of the moment – or rather, when Lisa had tried to hit him with a pillow – Thomas had quickly agreed to come with her next time as an apology.
By now, he regretted the offer. The yoga pants he was wearing made him feel naked, and he knew they made his already skinny legs look even skinnier and he wasn’t looking forward to all his limbs aching the next day either.
His best friend only rolled his eyes at him with a wide grin, eyes fixed on the road. “Don’t be an idiot, you look fine. Those pants make your bum look great, actually.”
To be honest, Thomas was more concerned about his bulge being so clearly visible. He really didn’t know why she’d forced him to wear them either, he was pretty sure it’d have been fine to turn up in sweatpants. Something was up, judging by how her smirk only grew wider when they got out of the car.
The room where the class was held felt comfortable, the floor made out of polished plywood, a few big overhead windows drenching it with light, a big mirror on one of the walls.
About a dozen women were seated on the floor on thin gym mats, quietly chattering among themselves. None of them payed the two of them any attention.
There were two mats still empty right at the front of the class, both of them a deep red. Lisa led Thomas towards them.
They’d just sat down when someone called her name. “Lisa, hi!”
It was a guy’s voice, and Thomas froze as soon as he turned around. The tall blond had the most beautiful smile Thomas had ever seen, giving him a very youthful air that was only highlighted by slightly messy, short hair, rounded cheeks lightly dusted with stubble and a pair of striking blue eyes.
“Heya Manu!” Lisa grinned, waving at him as he jogged up to them, another mat tucked underneath his arm.
He rolled out the mat just front of them before facing them again. He smiled at Thomas, and suddenly, Thomas was very glad he was already sitting because he was sure his knees would have gone weak.
“Is this the guy you told me about?”
Lisa nodded. “Yes, this is Thomas, my best friend.”
The blond’s smile grew wider but strangely also more timid as he held out his hand for Thomas to shake. His hands were big, the palms surprisingly soft. “Hello. I’m Manuel.”
Thomas returned his smile with a nod. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see Lisa grinning. He knew exactly what she would say – it wasn’t often that something managed to render him speechless.
But he couldn’t even care, not when he was lost in the eyes of the prettiest man he’d ever seen. He was built too, Thomas noticed, with toned arms and broad shoulders and a sculpted torso leading to a surprisingly narrow waist, his legs looking firm and strong.
He startled a bit when the blond cleared his throat awkwardly. Thomas wasn’t sure if he imagined his cheeks flushing as he torn his eyes away from Thomas’, standing up.
He clapped his hands together. “Alright class! Thanks for coming, we’ll start with something easy today seeing as we have a new member. Everyone say hi to Thomas!”
Thomas blinked.
He turned to Lisa, his mouth slightly gaping. “Why didn’t you mention that your teacher was this cute!” he hissed, “I’m gonna make a fool out of myself!”
She only giggled.
He did, actually, make a fool out of himself. Never mind that he was flexible but not nearly flexible enough for some of the exercises – five minutes in he already got distracted while attempting to do the downward dog by the teacher’s – Manuel’s – backside looking especially scrumptious in his dark blue yoga pants. Which, in that moment, was only a few inches away from his face.
Thomas tried to ogle him as discreetly as possible – he didn’t want to seem like a creep. It only took him so far when Manuel then bent his back just a little more, and with a little yelp, Thomas faceplanted, prompting thinly-veiled giggles from the other students who probably enjoyed watching him suffer.
Lisa didn’t budge, her eyes closed, but Thomas could make out her grin anyway.
The rest of the lesson went in a similar fashion, and when it finally ended after thirty minutes Thomas collapsed on his mat with a groan, deciding that yoga really wasn’t for him.
No matter how cute the teacher might be.
He’d closed his eyes, so he didn’t immediately notice someone crouching down in front of him.
“You okay?” Manuel’s voice was softer than during the lesson, almost tentative.
Thomas opened one eye, squinting up at him. The sun was catching in his hair, making it look almost golden.
“Sure,” he said, letting out another groan as he propped himself up on his elbows. Manu offered him a hand, pulling up to his feet. When they were both standing, he let it linger, their hands awkwardly clasped in between them.
By now, most of the girls had cleared out of the room. Thomas managed to catch a last glimpse of Lisa as she walked out of the door, throwing a last cheeky wink over her shoulder.
He turned back to Manuel, whose cheeks once more were tinted pink as he quickly let go of Thomas’ hand, shoving his into his pockets instead.
“Um. I’m sorry if I ruined your class. I’m not really cut out for this.”
Manuel chuckled, shuffling his toes. “You didn’t ruin anything. These girls have been coming here for months, if not years; most of them weren’t an ounce better than you during their first lesson.”
“Ah,” Thomas smiled. He was really starting to find Manuel’s blushing adorable. “I guess I better should have started with a beginner’s class then? Is there one I can sign up for?”
“My colleague Robert teaches the beginners, actually,” Manuel says, “but when Lisa asked I allowed her to bring you along, since I agree that she needed another partner than me. Actually,” he fiddles with the hem his shirt, “I wouldn’t mind you coming back.”
Thomas’s heart skipped a beat. He could feel his smile growing wider as he searched for Manuel’s eyes. “Alright then! I guess if you don’t deem me a hopeless case after today, there’s still hope.”
“Great!” Manuel beamed before apparently remembering to compose himself again, schooling his face into a more professional expression. “I guess I’ll see you next week?”
Thomas cleared his throat. “Actually, I wondered … would you like to get a coffee with me?”
He really thought that he could get used to the look on Manuel’s face as he nodded shyly but enthusiastically, blushing even more.
(”I knew it!” Lisa yelled when he came home that evening with a big grin on his face and a new number saved in his phone. Turns out she’d been planning to set them up all along.
Considering how smitten Thomas already was with Manuel after only one date, he didn’t find it in himself to be cross with her.)

If the Glove Fits Pt3
Thomas arrived at the palace late, the ball was already in full swing when he entered the grand hall. All eyes turned to him as he descended the staircase, causing a blush to flourish on his cheeks. Thomas was not used to being the center of attention. The intense scrutiny of all who were present put Thomas on edge which caused him to stumble on the final step, sending him flailing face first towards the pristine marble floor. The cool hardness of the ball room floor never reached Thomas’ body, instead he found himself encapsulated in a pair of lean, sturdy arms.
“You certainly know how to make an entrance Tommy,” the same angelic voice that been haunting Thomas’ dreams drifted into the brunette’s ear, once again reminding him of honey, “This is the second time you’ve fallen into my life, I do hope this trend doesn’t continue, I’d much rather you keep your handsome face unmarred. Now would you care to join for a dance?”
Thomas glanced up, even with the metallic, gold mask obscuring half of his rescuers face, Thomas would never forget those gorgeous dark amber orbs. The brilliant red hue that adorned Thomas’ face seemed to want make a permanent home there. Opening and closing his mouth multiple times, Thomas finally just nodded, his brain not allowing him the basic function of speech at the present time. Newt beamed, taking Thomas’ gloved hand, and lead him to the center of the dance floor.
Newt took the lead, twirling and guiding Thomas in an intricate series of movements. All the guests formed a large circle around the pair, watching, some in awe, others in delicately hidden jealousy. Whispers were passed between onlookers, all wondering who this mystery man was, and how he had so easily captured the prince’s heart. Thomas was acutely aware of the whispered voices and the hateful eyes directed his way, but when Newt caught his gaze it all faded away. The blonde spoke soft reassurances in Thomas’ ear in an attempt to calm the young man, but the prince just ended up making the brunette a mumbled, jumbled mess of incohesive sputterings.
“Would you care to join me at my table for the banquet?” Newt asked when the music faded into nothing.
“Y- y- Of c- I- I-” Thomas’ brain still refused to function in an appropriate manner. Newt laughed, a warm, rumbling that reminded Thomas of the first roll of thunder from a summer storm.
“I shall take that as a yes?”
Thomas nodded, wishing his brain would begin functioning properly, and soon, or else dinner was gong to prove to be an interesting game of charades. The pair shared another dance, this time with other guests participating as well, before it was announced that dinner was ready. Newt offered his arm and lead Thomas into the enormous dining hall.
Thomas, still obliviously unaware of Newt’s actual identity, was thrown off when the blonde lead him to the head table. He was even more confused when Newt offered him the seat only one place away from the king’s.
“Wh- what?” Thomas finally managed to choke out.
“Yes Tommy?”
“Wh- why are we sitting here?”
“You still haven’t figured it out?”
The sea of befuddlement swimming in Thomas’ dark, earthy brown eyes told Newt that Thomas had definitely not figured out that Newt was the prince.
“Who do you think I am Tommy?”
“I- I thought you were just the son of one of the noble families, but I’m starting to think I was very, very wrong,”
“You’re as wrong as you may think, I am the son of a noble family, well, more specifically, the royal family,”
“So you, you’re the prince?” Thomas squeaked.
“Yes. Are you alright Tommy? You look a little pale,” Newt observed.
“I- uh… You’re the prince,” Thomas repeated, his brain now working at a much faster pace than it ever had before while also short circuiting from excessive thinking.
“Yes, I thought we established that already?” Newt asked, not understanding why Thomas was mentally freaking out.
“You’re the prince. And you’re talking to me. And I’m rambling. Oh god, how did I get into this situation?” Thomas ranted, panic rising.
“Tommy, breathe, breathe, here follow my lead, in, out, in, out. Good, just like that. Better?”
“Maybe? Why me?” Thomas had finally calmed down enough to form coherent questions.
“What do you mean?”
“Why are you talking to me? I can’t imagine your father approving of me, and there must be quite a few nobles here who you would have much more in common with. I’m just the step-son of a former nobleman, I have nothing to offer you, what could you possibly find interesting enough about me to ask me to join you for dinner?” Thomas said dejectedly.
“Tommy-” Newt was cutoff when his father sat down on his other side, announcing that the meal was now to be served. The king kept Newt’s attention for most of the meal, pointedly ignoring Thomas’ presence at the head table. It wasn’t until right before dessert was to be served that Newt was able to distract his father enough to sneak away with Thomas.
The blonde prince lead Thomas out to the palace gardens, one of his favorite places to go to think. They walked in silence, side by side, shoulders brushing occasionally, knuckles rubbing against each other every few steps.
“Do you want to know why I asked you to dance with me and join me at the head table, even though I knew my father would never approve?” Newt asked suddenly. Thomas nodded, not wanting pointless words to disrupt the relative peacefulness surrounding them.
“I asked you, over everyone else in attendance tonight, because, you see me as a real person, not just a title. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you ever since you fell into my life a week ago. And then when you showed up tonight, once again falling into my life, I knew I wouldn’t be able to love anyone else because you had stolen my heart without even trying,”
“Love? You love me?”
“Yes, I know we’ve only just met, but I feel like I’ve known you my whole life. You’re all I can think about, I think my steward might strangle me if he has to hear about your ‘gorgeous eyes and adorable moles’ one more time. Now come on I want to show you one of my favorite places,” Newt finished with a grin. He grasped Thomas’ hand and lead the brunette to a well disguised, ivy covered door.
On the other side of the thick wooden door was a small, quaint garden with an old, twisted apple tree growing proudly against the far wall. The stone walls were obscured by the dense vines of the ever growing ivy, and there a simple wood swing hanging from one of the branches of the apple tree. Newt walked over to stand beside the swing with an expectant look on his angelic face.
Thomas took a moment to take in the sight before him. Newt looked very out of place in his white and gold royal threads, dark, knee high boots, and golden blonde locks framing his perfect features. It was all such a stark contrast to the dark colors and earthy, unruliness of the garden. The only thing that seemed to fit Newt’s look was the light of the full moon. It illuminated the cozy little area and was reflected in Newt’s eyes, highlighting a slew of unspoken emotions.
“Are you just going to stand there and gawk at me, or are you going to come over here and allow me the pleasure of pushing on the swing?” Newt asked, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his strikingly pink and plump lips. Thomas tried his hardest to stutter out an answer through his embarrassment, but gave up, choosing instead to let his actions speak for him.
“Are you always this articulate? Or am I just special?” the prince teased as he shifted to stand behind Thomas so he could gently push the brunette.
“I- I don’t talk to many people, s- so I don’t r-really what to say. I’m a- afraid of saying the wrong thing and m- making a fool of myself, or worse, saying something th- that might make you h- hate me,” Thomas stammered.
“Tommy, there is absolutely nothing you could ever say that would make me hate you,” Newt reassured, moving around the swing to stand directly in front of Thomas, “You’re far too kind and caring to ever have to worry about saying anything that would make me, or anyone else for that matter, hate you,”
“Try telling that to my family,” Thomas sighed forlornly.
“Maybe I will,”
Thomas’ head snapped up at the bold statement, he studied Newt’s gaze, searching for some hint of a lie, but all he found was deep adoration and just a tiny hint of lust. Newt slowly leaned down, bringing their faces closer together. The prince’s hands moved from where they had been resting be his side, to settle over the brunette’s steadying the swing, while also steadying himself. Thomas’ eyes fluttered shut when he felt Newt’s hot breath ghost over his lips. There were mere millimeters separating them when the first chime of midnight rang out across the palace grounds.
“Oh no! I have to go, now! I’m so sorry, I had a really excellent time, thank you so much for tonight!” Thomas yelped. He bolted to his feet, startling Newt in the process. He gave the blonde a deeply apologetic glance before sprinting out of the garden, ripping his hand out of the prince’s hold, and also out of his glove. Newt was left, rooted to the ground, staring in bewilderment at where Thomas had been only seconds ago, the blue silk glove clutched tightly in his slender fingers.
Thomas ran. His only thought was to get as far away from the palace as he could before the final stroke of midnight. Thankfully Minho was waiting with the carriage, nervously shaking his leg. Thomas leapt up to join his friend on the driver’s seat and took the reins, setting off at an alarmingly fast pace. The third chime rang out as they passed through the palace gates.
“We’re not going to make it home before the final stroke,” the stable hand mused.
“I know that,” Thomas snapped, “We just need to get as far away from the palace as we can,”
The eighth stroke of midnight sounded as they reached the edge of the village. The magic began to fade on the ninth chime. Horses began to turn back to mice, sturdy wheels reverted back into unsteady green vines, and Thomas’ suit faded back to the torn grey mess it had been only hours ago.
“Brace yourself,” Thomas shouted as the last bit of magic wore off, sending the two men tumbling into the ground.
“You okay?” Minho asked, picking himself up from the dirt path.
“Physically yes, emotionally, I have no idea,” Thomas replied, “I’ll explain as we walk,” he said in response to Minho’s concerned look. As they made their way back to Thomas’ family estate he recounted the night’s events to his companion.
“Well at least you got to keep one of the gloves,” Minho said, trying to cheer Thomas up.
“What?” Thomas said, looking down he saw that Minho was indeed correct. There on his left hand was the blue silk glove that had matched his suit from the ball. “Why do I still have this? It should have disappeared with the rest of the magic,”
“I don’t know what to tell you, maybe because you didn’t have both?”
“I doubt that, magic wouldn’t care if they were together or not, so it must be something else,”
They had made it back to the house and were heading towards the stable when the distinct thundering of hooves alerted them of Thomas’ step-family returning. Thomas removed the glove and handed it to Minho, “You need to hold onto this for me, if Lord Janson finds out I went to the ball I’ll be dead before sunrise,” with that he rushed inside to greet his step-family.
“Thomas! Ah there you are, prepare my nightly tea and scotch, it has been an interesting night and I need to calm myself,” Lord Janson said, throwing his coat in Thomas’ direction.
“Well I don’t see how a ball could be anything but interesting,” Thomas mused, as he moved towards the kitchen.
“Yes, well unfortunately the night was ruined by some charlatan. He was all over the prince, it was disgusting really. Now get me my tea and scotch and bring it to my room,”
“Yes sir,”
Thomas prepared tea for step-siblings as well as his step-father, taking time to deliver each their own cup.
“So what did you do tonight Thomas?” Lord Janson asked when Thomas brought him his tea.
“Nothing sir, finished my chores and talked with Minho,” Thomas answered, doing his best to control his reaction to the question.
“Really now?”
“Yes sir, now if you would excuse me I must get to bed so I can get enough rest as to not fall asleep while cooking breakfast tomorrow,”
“Yes of course, you must had a strenuous night, keeping up appearances and all,” Lord Janson as Thomas shut the door behind him. Heart racing, he sprinted up to his room. There was no way his step-father could possibly know that Thomas had gone to the ball. No, Jorge had assured him that his family wouldn’t recognize him, plus it had been a masquerade, so maybe they just thought someone else looked like him. Thomas did his best to convince himself that Lord Janson had no idea that Thomas was the one who had captured the prince’s attention the whole night. Panic grew as the night wore on.

A Lent Reflection: Understanding the Values of Acceptance, Surrender and Moving On in our Day to Day Lives.
How has your 40 days of Lent been, especially your Holy Week experience? Has those dates made you feel gratified, contented, dazed by the glory of God, or did a specific day under this period, serve as an eye opener of certain realizations to you, your friend or even the rest of the family?
My Holy Week had been totally revealing, aside from meaning it is a 7 day break for me, it had given me chances to rest from our university’s very demanding schedules, plus additional hours of planning on what to write on my handled pages. Last Thursday, I and my family had been blessed with the golden opportunity to visit St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and National Shrine of Padre Pio, both in Sto. Tomas, Batangas (a tourist spot in the Philippines). These 2 churches had been the highlights of our annual 2018 “Visita Iglesia” (literally translated as: Visit Church) devotion road trip, specifically because St. Aquinas is the Patron Saint of my University, and Padre Pio, who is known for his strong commitment to the Catholic teachings and fast response to the believers’ prayers, is also one of my family’s favorite saints.
The Filipino people have worldly been known as “faithful individuals”, our attitudes towards these kinds of occasions are always caught up among the faces of total seriousness, undeniable strictness and unwavering devotion. It is strongly manifested through the newspapers, chanting of repeated Latin and Tagalog prayers by the elders, locally known as Pabasa, the sights of Sinakulo (Lenten plays narrating the life, suffering and resurrection of Jesus Christ, beginning from the night of Holy Monday to Easter Sunday) and Penitensya (self flagellation and determined crucifixion). Most may seem that some of these acts are unthinkable or even absurd, especially the concept of crucifying one’s self, they may argue that our sins were forgiven long time ago, but here in our country, it’s an accepted tradition and each unique devotee has their special means of expressing their love and lifting up their failures. People may disagree on what methods of faith are more safe and better, but I am sure that at one point, we may agree that all our actions are rooted from our deeply enhanced trust in our Creator.
We came to Batangas to not only see the inimitable architecture of the religious establishments, but also to bear witness on how Batangueños (residents of Batangas) celebrate their faith and express it. As we climbed up the mountainous entrance to the Shrine, it was very hard not to notice the cries of realization, laughter of tourists and the amazement of the crowd as they continued journeying to the gates of the place. I’ve observed the beauty of the surroundings, not solely because of the landscape and the holiness that dwells in it, but mostly of the people exploring around gleefully. In spite of the distance from their homes to here, no sense of frustration were impressed on their faces, Families of different cities and provinces were huddled by the benches consuming their late lunch on paper plates, Friends were grouped by the statues of saints and pathways, holding their cameras high above, aiming for good shots, Tourists crowded the souvenir shops to grab as many memorabilia as they could and Locals assisting the newcomers to their choice of scenery. It was an indeed joyful sight.
I had understood that these people were here because they had already achieved or still want to achieve these 3 Major Values in their Lives:
1. Acceptance
“You must ask God to give you power to fight against the sin of pride which is your greatest enemy – the root of all that is evil, and the failure of all that is good. For God resists the proud.” -St. Vincent de Paul
Truly, Acceptance and Understanding are thoughts that could not be indeed separated. For you could understand but never accept, and what is acceptance without truthful understanding? Among the three virtues, I believe this is the hardest stage to achieve; only a few have managed to embrace this concept quickly enough. The one thing that delays our path to being free is Denial, powered by Pride. We deny, You deny, I deny that we possess a thing called Pride, we are aware that a dose of it, or even two, is quite enough to kill us with our eyes wide open. But why the reason for our constant rejection of the facts? I assume that majority of our answers would be, “because mistakes mean failure, and to fail means to sin”. Once I’ve thought that phrase to be true, but thanks to the wonderful articles, books and talks I had encountered, I began to change that mentality. Now I could declare that, “mistakes mean we are human, to be human is to be loved by Christ.” Keep saying this phrase in your mind, and trust me, you’ll begin to feel the virtue of Acceptance slowly piercing into every bit of your system. You could never repent if you had never learned to Accept, so start doing it today.
2. Surrender
“Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry”
-St. Padre Pio
Personally, I equate Surrender with Repentance. How often do you repent? In my case, I make sure that I do it at least once a year, mostly after our Special Recollection Ceremony done in the campus. This stage is the easiest of the three, removing the reality that you wish to see a kind and happy priest to hear the confession of your grave, graver, gravest sins. It’s easy to talk and relay the information through the words you speak, it’s thrilling to let go of everything finally at once. Why is that? Once you accepted yourself and the sin you’ve committed with open arms, everything would be a breeze. Repentance is analogous to a graduation ceremony, you knew you did what it took to graduate or maybe even to receive golden markers, and all you have to do at current is to receive that plaque and medal and smile. The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation is a gift of God to us, his children, so Don’t Worry, everything will be okay maybe not at the moment, but soon.
3. Moving On
“Let us go forward in peace, our eyes upon heaven, the only one goal of our labors.” -St. Therese of Lisieux
Had I said that Acceptance is the hardest virtue among the three? I think I’ll take what I had just said a little back. Okay, I’ll admit that it’s harder to move on than to accept, it differs on the situation. Moving On is not a single process, it takes on many shapes and forms, so to simplify things, I would relate it to the transition of a college student to work life and a cleaner feeling after receiving Forgiveness. We are all aware that we could never stay as college people forever, unless if we insist to repeat the courses over and over again, in due time we have to level up and release ourselves to a hostile environment, called “workplace”. The good thing is that we are free to look back on our school experiences in order that we could continuously level up and improve on our field of vocations. The human person is never designed to have a stagnant nature, we always goal to be better every day and explore new circumstances on a on a daily basis. As for the situations after the Sacrament of Penance, most may tend to forcefully look back at the past and punish themselves for the sins they already are pardoned with, claiming that the words of comfort by the priest is not sufficient for their reasons. But we forget that, in this process, our objective does not lie on making us look good in front of the priest, but submitting ourselves wholly in front of the Lord. The secret of Moving On and continuing this journey filled with overflowing Love is to leave the dark past behind and run forward with a peaceful tomorrow, like what St, Therese had taught us.
I pray that you had a meaningful and sanctified Lent period, and that this week would be a memorable remembrance intended to be looked back to and learnt from in the next months to come. May our attitudes expressed during this time not be only temporary, but perpetually lasting.

It Lives In The Woods
Lucas Thomas x MC ( Isaiah )
Warning: absolutely nothing. Just fluff.
I adore Lucas Thomas. Also this is my first fic and I’ve never really done anything like this before.
Isaiah PoV
Today marked five years. Five years since we face Redfield, or rather Jane. Five years since the other Marshall twin lost their life. Five years since I left to college. Five years of a slow burning trauma.
But it’s also been five of the best years of my life; all because of you- Lucas
It was never easy; even before we started dating.
But you were there with me through it all.
All those restless nights, when neither of us could sleep; cradling each other with tearful eyes. Hurt and pain had enveloped us for a while.
But we fought together. Every time I thought you’d give up on me and walk away, you stayed.
And soon the hurt went. The tears of sadness were replace with those of joy. Nightmares replaced with dreams; and we were cocooned in love.
So today I made up my mind, sitting at a restaurant; alongside our friends. They all know my plan, Ava was making sure I wouldn’t chicken out. She swatted my hand away from my pocket as I fidgeted with it for the umpteenth time.
“Stop worrying dammit!” she grumbled, “it’s gonna be great.”
“But what if-”
“No.”
“Fine.”
Dan nudged my side as you got up to order some extra fries for Andy’s never fulfilled appetite,
“You might wanna get ready.”
“Hey,” Lily smiled, “good luck.”
I nodded, feeling the nerves arise once again.
Get it together dude.
When you took a seat back, I steeled myself and turned to you, “hey babe, can we..uh..go outside for a moment.”
You furrow your eyebrows before nodding, “sure.”
“Excuse us.”
Part of the reason why I chose this place was that the view of the sunset was absolutely beautiful and if I’d come to learn anything about you is that he appreciates a good view (of nature obviously).
“Okay what’s up?” You ask folding your arms as we made it into the open, “you’ve been acting weird all day.”
I opened my mouth to say something but froze. The last rays of the sun glowed, highlighting your face with a golden light. You looked Greek God- like and absolutely breathtaking.
“You look beautiful,” I replied dumbly, still staring at you.
You raise your brow, in a ‘stop beating about the bush, I know you did something’ look.
“Isaiah...”
“Okay! Okay...” I raised my hands in mock defeat, “Lucas Thomas, you are one of the greatest things to have ever happened to me. We’ve been through hell and back together and damn..you’re just so absolutely wonderful and kind and so perfect it’s annoying. But I love it. I love you. You make me a better person, and I’m so grateful for that.
So...Mr. President,” i slowly lowered myself onto my knee, pulling out the box that contained the silver ring that Stacy and I hunted everywhere to find, and smiled up at you, “will you make me the luckiest guy alive by marrying me?”
You looked at me with shock which slowly morphs into something else, an expression that I couldn’t exactly tell. Tears filled your eyes and I could feel my hands shaking and tears fill my own.
So beautiful.
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes!”
“Seriously?”
“Isaiah...seriously.”
I grinned, standing up as fast as I could and slipping the ring onto your finger, “I love you. I love you. I love you.”
You laugh incredulously, grabbing my face and kissing me, “I love you.”
Loud cheers echoed, as everyone came out of their hiding places.
“That was so goddamn cheesy,” Ava smirked.
“Were you all eavesdropping?” you ask, a bright red blush spreading across your face.
“Absolutely!” Andy states.
Lily and Stacy are practically in tears, and I can’t blame them. I’m crying too.
“Your crying...” you state simply.
“So are you.” I bring your hand to my lips and kiss your knuckles, “I’m so happy darling.”
“I am too, fiancé,” you test the word out, and I absolutely love it.

year in fic review (2017)
using the wonderful @neyvenger ‘s template! everyone should do this i wanna read <3
Year at a glance: Total number of completed stories: 25 (26 if u count hockey) Total word count: 146929
Overall Thoughts:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? LOTS MORE it’s probly bc i wrote a hella lot while jumping from train to train traveling all of Europe, and probly bc i gave up on school by mid-sem last year, and probly bc the only thing i can do at work that looks like i’m still doing work when i’m not is write
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? The fuCKING GERMS i blame it on germs like i 100% would never have thought i’d write 16k of thomasfips who does that also joemilly??? but i luff
What’s your own favorite story of the year? i dont have one i love and hate them all equally... i guess strangeways here we come just bc i took so damn long to write it and tbf i didn’t write a lot of carraville this year so it was kind of like my One and Only
Did you take any writing risks this year?
writing a lot of people I didn’t know how to write, writing about a lot of Big Things (particularly on the bridge between starshine and clay) that i wasn’t sure about, writing a lot of aus i’d never done before, writing ??? PORN???? even tho ive never banged anyone in my life
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? all 12 months of football prompts! hopefully! and writing more new ships and meeting more people and reading good fic also finally doing all my historical aus bc if there’s one thing i’ve learnt this year, it’s not to give a shit what other people want and just write what u want even if no one is going to read it xoxo
From my past year of writing, what was…
My best story of this year: from a writing perspective i think an die nachgeborenen just bc it was the most? complete, i guess? and plotty? like if i changed the names and pretended it wasn’t creepy i could probably send it for rejection
My most popular story of this year: strangeways, here we come i guess cos i published it around that time the r*dditors were sneaking around lmao
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: the wonder of my world cos it’s niche and manc but!!!!!!! i love my mancs
Most fun story to write: fuckin. 30 Shades Of Red
Story with the single sexiest moment: The Anonymous Present That Appeared For Sab’s Birthday That Doesn’t Exist
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: Again, The Anonymous Present that Doesn’t Exist
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I’m pretty set when it comes to characters, I guess, because I only like writing when I understand them, but maybe Aubade bc I’d never written Iker till then and I really liked how it turned out
Hardest story to write: summer sang in me a little while bc it was a) wrestling with a Lot of Football feelings that I didn’t know how to talk about, b) wresting with trashbag xabi alonso and what I thought of him vs. what other people thought of him, c) writing ships and people I had 0 idea about
Biggest surprise: i like germs! wtf
Highlights + Wrap-up: ok I TRIED TO PICK DIFFERENT ONES FROM ALL FIC
Favorite Opening Lines (3):
when the world was ours
There's a crunch. There's a crunch and it's over.
the setting sun is sweetest last
When all the hands have been shaken and hugs exchanged someone presses a microphone into his hands and he fumbles, not quite sure how to put what he's feeling into words. Eventually he settles for something about looking towards the final on Saturday and he sees David from the corner of his eye shaking his head, almost as if to say: god, Gaz, how do you manage to make everything about United when this should be about you.
In the end, it's simple.
cheesed to meet you
Philipp calls Thomas first, because he always calls Thomas first.
"I didn't do it," Thomas says immediately, with the kind of well-practiced plausibility that only comes from doing the things he says he hasn't done.
Favorite Closing Lines (4):
yes, yes, we are magicians
You jog back to the halfway line. Your face must be shining under the lights, and you wonder if mum's in the crowd, smiling. Let's go to Wembley some day. Rooney rolls the ball to you and you're off again, no marcus's ball scribbled into the patchy leather, no divots and pot-holes in a sandy, well-worn pitch.
You're nineteen years old and going to the Euros.
Every blade of grass here is the exact same height.
in this story we belong to ourselves
Liverpool is. A river that runs before two men who used to have numbers on their backs and now have a house no longer empty. A stream of memories and breaking apart and going again. The Mersey, quiet, grey, flowing gently through the Narrows and out into the great big sea, ever so slightly out of reach.
Variation IX
He says I've missed you, mate.
I say You know, I thought you might.
He says I hope you missed me too.
I say Well of course, otherwise where would I go for Christmas this year?
And then he starts laughing and I start laughing and we laugh and laugh and don’t stop until he kisses me again.
yes, there will be song
You step back and turn, take the steps two at a time. Somewhere outside Anfield there's a man with a shirt that's as as red as the names on the back. He's got a scarf around his neck like a docker, and he presses his face to the Shankly gates like he's kissing a trophy. Make us dream, he whispers, a secret he's never told anyone else, his heart heavy and his eyes tired but his body trembling with a belief too full for words. Above him, the sky is golden.
Favorite Lines From Anywhere (5):
strangeways, here we come
It's weak against Paraguay, it's tired against Paraguay, but the England fans are singing and they have to listen. Countries are not clubs. This sinks deeper than loyalty, at once more insular and more ubiquitous than Liverpool or United could ever be. There are little flags hung up in Sainsbury's, strangers with their arms round each other in pubs, the radios of an electronics store tuned in to Radio 5 Live. Come on England. Bandied about like a mantra, a swear word, a secret password offered by old hands who brace themselves for more disappointment with a nudge and a wink. England always - a host of words go here, crash out , fuck up , lose , but -
Believe rises above them all. Maybe it's delusional. Maybe it's arrogant. Beckham takes a free kick that delights and astonishes the way his free kicks do and it ends up in the back of the net. Every four years St George goes back up and people who still remember '66 are bought a pint, and for every we'll go out at the group stages there's an underlying thread of god help me, we might win this yet, because what is hope if not alive?
Come on England. The cup awaits you and is yours.
sekrit yuletide fic
In his dreams he doesn't leave. Salvador Iglesias Sr. doesn't die and Chava doesn't become a dickhead. He keeps the number on his back and the band around his arm. He doesn't cheat on Ximena, but he tells her, and they part as best friends. In his dreams they win the championship. And again the next year, and again the one after that. Each time Potro scores the winning goal and Moi runs to him to celebrate and Potro kisses him for the whole world to see, over and over, until their lips are numb and all they know are themselves.
summer sang in me a little while
Why are you still here? you ask him. It is easier that way. He turns to you, dark circles under his eyes, and doesn't reply. Only reaches over to tangle his calloused fingers in your hair, rests his forehead against yours. This time you are the one who leans forward to kiss him, immersing yourself in the warmth of his skin. You taste his blood. You taste the salt and iron of his blood.
the wonder of my world
What makes a club? Love, belief, hope - and someone to attach it to, the player everyone grows up watching, whose name is instantly recognisable to the point that you don't have to mention who he plays for next. Who pours his soul into the game and hammers his heart onto the crest. You don't get that kind of player very often. United were lucky to have three.
So here. The last musketeer. He's not looking at the crowd anymore, just the middle distance. Still the thousands sing. Love, belief, hope, and memories. Ryan might never run again but Paul realises that it doesn't matter. It's that he's already run. And in a hundred years from now someone might pull up a grainy youtube video and watch the number eleven on the left wing and fall in love, all over again. The way he was meant to be loved. Ball at his feet. Red.
an die nachgeborenen
"I don't need a plan," Thomas says, like he's talking to a child. "That's the beauty of it. All I have to do is wait and see what happens. It's only – " he smiles again, wan, quiet. "Well. You know."
The refrain arcs, jagged, through Philipp's head.
"I promised you wouldn't die."
"I won't." Thomas stands up, leaves a hand on Philipp's shoulder. His palm is still warm. "I'm invincible, didn't I tell you?"
And with a single, chipper whistling note, he hits the exit button and slips out, the door closing immediately behind him with a gentle click .
Fic Goals for 2018:
i wna write gifts that people will like :> aka MORE NICHE BULLSHIT

Motivational Movie Clips
“Boiler Room”: To get you hungry for success
“Hidden Figures”: To remind you of the importance of being first
“Friday Night Lights”: To motivate you to work as a team
“Wolf of Wall Street”: To get you fired up
“Erin Brockovich”: To highlight why you should play the long game
“Glengarry Glen Ross”: To make you feel like a closer
“Braveheart”: To inspire your courage
“Joy”: To put a smile on your face
We all need a little kick sometimes. Whether you’re gearing up for an interview, call, client pitch, or just a Monday morning, these videos will put you at the top of your game.
With a healthy dose of social science, words of wisdom, and an intense Alec Baldwin monologue, these 13 gems cover all the bases.
Sales Motivational Videos and Clips
Disclaimer: Some of these videos contain language you may not feel comfortable blasting out to the whole office. Put on your headphones and proceed with caution (especially when you get to #7).
1) The Affleck Address
A young Ben Affleck nails it with this classic “Boiler Room” speech. Fifteen years later and this interview scene still racks up thousands of hits on YouTube. Why? He’s not joking.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “You will make a million dollars within three years of your first day of employment at J.T. Marlin. There is no question as to whether or not you’ll become a millionaire working here. The only question is how many times over.”
2) The Data-Backed Hacks
Bow down to the queen of keynotes. Amy Cuddy brought in an impressive seven million views for this TED talk, placing it among the top 20 TED talks of all time — and for good reason.
This video is full of interesting tidbits about the nonverbal cues you’re giving every minute, every day. Her advice on “power posing” is invaluable when it comes to sales meetings. Remember: Your prospects are not only evaluating your pitch but your confidence and how you carry yourself.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “If you feel like you shouldn’t be somewhere: Fake it. Do it not until you make it, but until you become it.”
3) The Importance of Being First
“Hidden Figures” is the true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), three African-American women who serve at NASA as part of astronaut John Glenn’s historic launch into orbit.
This clip highlights Jackson’s fight to be allowed to attend classes that would further her work as a NASA engineer. Never underestimate the value of a well-worded, thoughtful speech in winning someone over.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “Out of all the cases you’re going to hear today, which one is going to matter a hundred years from now? Which one is going to make you the first?”
4) The Secret to Sales Success
Steve Jobs. Arguably the best salesperson of our generation explains what really makes us salespeople tick: The love of what we do. Remind yourself of this and you will succeed every time.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “If you look at the ones that ended up being successful in the eyes of society, oftentimes it’s the ones that loved what they did so they could persevere when it got really tough.”
5) The Locker Room Tearjerker
It has been said that sales are the ultimate contact sport. Football or sales, every day you go out there and hustle your way to the top. Whether you’re in the locker room or sitting at your desk, this one pulls on the heartstrings.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It’s not about winning. It’s about you and your relationship to yourself and your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn’t let them down.”
6) The Motivational Montage
A quick search for “motivational speech” will bring you 2,150,000 YouTube results, but when it comes to quality, Mateusz M is the king of the catalyst. Mateusz has created an art of his own. “Dream” is a personal favorite. A montage made from the very best of “Into The Wild,” “Rocky 4,” “Seven Pounds,” “Pursuit of Happiness,” and “A Beautiful Mind,” completes this piece of gold.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric, elusive, god-like feature that only the special among us will ever taste. It’s something that truly exists — in all of us.”
7) The Token Wolf Of Wall Street Clip
This entire movie is full of outrageous monologues, but if you don’t have hours to spare, here’s a three-minute refresher. A quick recap of this blockbuster: Jordan Belfort (the real-life “Wolf of Wall Street”) gets out of jail, writes a New York Times bestselling memoir, and sells the film rights to Red Granite Productions. The biopic grosses $392 million worldwide and Leo lands a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Everybody’s happy!
youtube
The (Only SFW) Million Dollar Line: “So you listen to me and you listen well. Are you behind on your credit card bills? Good — pick up the phone and start dialing!”
8) The Young Guru
The youngest motivator to grace this list, this six-year-old superstar’s words of wisdom are so moving they have been made into dozens of autotune remixes. A T-Pain in the making.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “Thumbs up everybody — for rock and roll!”
9) The Lame-Ass Offer
Erin Brockovich is a legal clerk and environmental activist who was instrumental in building a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company of California in 1993 despite her lack of formal education.
Julia Roberts famously brought Brockovich to life in the eponymous film, showing just what planning, hard work, and grit can do to turn a meeting or a deal your way.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “By the way, we had that water brought in special for you folks.”
10) The Classic
I’m just going to say it: This is the most iconic sales monologue of all time. Alec Baldwin completely demolishes this scene from 1992’s “Glengarry Glen Ross.” In terms of practical advice, you might be better off with Amy Cuddy but Alec instills a bit of good old-fashioned grit. Who’s a closer? You’re a closer!
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “A-B-C. A: always, B: be, C: closing. Always be closing!”
11) The Best of Braveheart
Alright, so Mel isn’t really talking about sales here but it’s too epic to not make the list. Channel your inner William Wallace while you work through those cold calls.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “They may take our lives but they will never take our freedom!”
12) The Burning Question
How bad do you want it? Perhaps one of the most underrated speeches on this list comes from Eric Thomas, motivational speaker, and youth activist. While you’re at it, download this as an MP3 and put it on your gym playlist. Get your elliptical on.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “Listen to me — you will never be successful until I don’t have to give you a dime to do what you do.”
Bonus Million Dollar Line (too great to leave out): “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
13) The Saleswomen
“Joy” is the true story of entrepreneur and QVC star Joy Mangano. During a tour of the QVC sound stage, executive Neil Walker (played by Bradley Cooper) explains what makes stars Joan Rivers and her co-host Cindy so great at selling.
He highlights their timing and the warmth they bring to their sales segments. It’s more than just who they are and what they’re pitching, it’s that they’re masters of knowing their audience and closing deals.
youtube
Million Dollar Line: “The stars, they always make the mistake — they think it’s about the face but it’s not. It’s really about the hands and the eyes.”
Bonus: My Locker Room Speech
If I’m ever asked to give a motivational speech to millions of salespeople (which I haven’t been yet), I’m ready. Here, for the first time, my “locker room” speech:
Ahem. Sales isn’t an easy career path. Sales aren’t the career you choose if you’re looking for the easy way out. After you’re hung up on for the 10th call in a row after your prospect said they would buy but changed their mind after everyone has left for the night but you’re still dialing –you might question why you’re even in sales at all. But never forget, you got into sales for a reason. [10-second break for suspense] Because you were born a hustler. Now set these 13 videos on loop and keep them close by! Listen to them at the gym, in the shower, on the bus, on your coffee break. Hung up on 10 times? Pick up the phone 11 times. You already have it in you. Now go close a deal.
I truly hope you’ve found this list inspiring. In sales, we face a lot of rejection (even more than I did at my first elementary school dance) but resilience trumps rejection every time.
