Ginger Gold + Sea Swirl! Or as I call them: Appledash if they both had accents.

Sometimes, Ginger accompanies her to the Everfree Forest to act as a guard while she studies, not that she needs one, she's plenty tough on her own, Ginger just tags along to wrastle ornery critters. Some possible dialogue below:

Ginger Gold: "So there I was, workin' on herdin' the Timberwolves that got brave enough to head into town during Zap Apple season. Just me against a whole pack of the varmits-”

Sea Swirl: “Oh just yous by yourself with a whole pack of Timberwolves?”

Ginger Gold: “... okay, Cousin AJ was visitin' from Manehattan an' she helped a bit. Gotta admit, that filly packs a punch for bein' city folk. Mostly just me though, ain't a pony who could keep up with me!"

Sea Swirl: "Right-o."

Ginger Gold: "An' I was right in the middle of kickin' their keisters all the way back to Everfree, some creatures need'a bit of tough love y'know? When the alpha Timberwolf managed to get one over and snapped his jaws a lil' too close to my ear!"

Sea Swirl: "Crikey, and the bastard took the tip right off?"

Ginger Gold: "Sure shootin' Sea. What the feller didn't count on was that a lil' pain don't slow me down none, I bowled that bundle of firewood right back into the forest without missin' a beat! I swear Fluttershy nearly passed out when she saw the drip o' red down my face, but it was barely a scratch. An' now my ear has this nice flat tip. I do love a good battle scar."

Sea Swirl: "That why ya tag along while I work sometimes? Cause yous rippin' to pick up another battle scar?"

Ginger Gold: "That an' the fact that y'all are good company."

Sea Swirl: "Oh piss off." 💙

So I found your account recently, and I've been obsessed with your IDV comics (I love them, they're probably my favorite ones I've ever seen). I totally forgot about tumblr's archive function though, so I would furiously scrol down your page to look at your older comics. BUT! As a result, I saw your post from like 4 months ago about how you imagine everyone just hanging out in the manor purgatory.

And I just wanted to say, I had almost the exact same HC??? Down to similar relationships between the final game group? Seeing someone with the same HC was just like "damn. Good taste".

The only main difference is rather than Norton and Alice having a strained relationship, I imagined Alice hallucinating Fool's Gold that one time is why hunter Norton looks like that, and it's secretly because she thinks he's hot...

Anyways I don't really know where I was going with this but I was just happy to see that not only someone was making great content I enjoy, but they shared a similar HC with me :>

And oh gosh, it's crazy to hear that we have similar headcanons too! I base most of my comics on this eternal manor purgatory AU, cause it gives lots of interaction opportunities. I love interactions! It's probably the case for most artists in this fandom as well. It's kinda strange for me sometimes to think that I use the AU more than the canon timeline itself.

...Okay I'll admit, I actually find the idea that Fool's Gold's image came to be because of Alice thinking Norton is good-looking kinda funny. I couldn't resist fgdhsjfdhj

"Silver? Honey?"

Silver head snaps up from his PokéGear as his girlfriend's voice snaps him out of his spiraling thoughts. How the hell could he even begin to approach this conversation? If the unknown number was talking about what he thought it was talking about... Sweet merciful Ho-Oh, this was not how he wanted to spend his date night.

"Silver." She speaks again, folding her arms as her expression hardens. "You've been staring at your PokéGear for several minutes now. What's going on?"

He rolls his eyes and moves to put it away. "Nothing we need to worry about--"

"Don't give me that. You've gone whiter than a Dewgong." Before he could even respond, Lyra snatches the device from his hands and studies the screen, her brow furrowing. Silver considers stopping her for a moment, but as soon as Lyra's expression gives way to confusion and horror, he knows it's too late.

[Is this Silver? I'd like to talk to you about the situation from a few months ago. The one that involved your now-dead friend.]

She sets the PokéGear down and stares at him expectantly, waiting for an answer.

"Shit, fine." Ugh. He had such a headache. "Remember when I was on bedrest a few months ago--"

"From 'champion business'." She shoots him a skeptical expression as she sits back in her chair. Dammit, dammit, dammit, he knew that was a stupid excuse. How the hell did he think she was going to believe him, especially with that bullshit detector of hers? He let out a frustrated growl before continuing.

"Look, what if I told you Gold's stuck in a weird purgatorial ghost state, bonded with a Celebi, then got kidnapped and experimented on by a creep my dad wouldn't even hire?" He's shocked by how quickly that slipped out and even more regretful when he notices how Lyra's eyes well up. He should've led in more gently, especially considering she was the one who found him.

Or, at least, what was left of him. Barely enough to fit a small casket, she had said.

Lyra sucks in a deep breath as she forces back tears. Silver's voice goes soft immediately. "Babe, I... I'm sorry." He runs a hand down his face. "But you get how crazy that sounds, right--?"

"Answer it." Lyra answers quickly, before Silver can get another word in edgewise. Clearly he's taken aback if his expression's of any indication, because she keeps going.

"Answer the damn text, Silver." Oh. She's not kidding. "I want answers. To all of this."

He nods wordlessly and texts his response.

[Indigo League Building, 5:00 AM. Be there or no deal.]
