i need to say this somewhere and i hope you won’t mind if i send this “rant” here. bc this is just a stupid smut pet peeve that i let annoy me so much.

but anyway every time i go to the lestappen tag i get really disheartened bc there is such a imbalance. there is so much bottom charles and omega charles and charles being loved and worshiped and i honestly wouldn’t mind that at all but the number of fics where max gets the same are pretty much nonexistent compared to charles-centric fics like there are bottom max fics but they get drowned out. pretty much all the popular fics that have thousands of kudos and that ppl recommend to everyone are bottom charles. seriously i saw a rec list once where the few bottom max fics had the fact that they are bottom max mentioned in the same manner as content warnings for some other fics. it was super weird but maybe the person who made that didn’t think it would come across like that.

i know there are lots of bottom max fics (i’ve probably read them all lol) and ppl who like both, like you. i’m happy about the ppl who comment on bottom max fics those fics still get a lot of love even when it seems so little in the grand scheme of things. but i’m just annoyed and a bit confused that it’s so disproportionate. probably bc charles is more popular than max and bottom charles has gotten so popular ppl are inclined to it and it's "safe" and gets more love.

then again there’s so much talk about omega max on tumblr and then none of that shows on ao3 weirdly. (except maybe on the maxiel side i literally became a maxiel shipper bc i wanted more omega max lol) some ppl on here who say they’re bottom/omega max “truthers” have like several top max fics on their account and no bottom max fics which literally not that deep everyone should write what they want and what they are inspired to write but not practicing what you preach confuses me a bit not gonna lie haha. i’ve written my own fics which are pretty much premises i want to desperately read but no one has written them (like fine i'll do it myself) and i've gotten a good response but i’m a slow writer so i haven't written everything i want to write. thank you for everything you’ve written laura!

I started writing maybe about two years ago and at the time a lot of the Lestappen stories were definitely bottom Charles and omega Charles. I started writing because a little bit like yourself there was some stuff I wanted to read that didn't exist so I just wrote it myself. At the time I had no clue how to write but I have hopefully improved over the past couple years! I was just desperate for there to be some more soft Max or Max being looked after and cared for. I just think Max doesn't get enough love and there can never be enough fics where it's pointed out just how hot he is!

I also like the idea of sexy, hot alpha Charles and think it's fun to not always see him in that 'babygirl' role if that makes sense. Although I can see why he ends up in that role a lot, he is also very pretty

I used to read a lot of Maxiel for the same reason as yourself, in fact I do still read Maxiel because of that reason and also because there are some very talented writers writing it. (although I also think of Daniel as being quite omega like!)

I definitely agree that there is a lot more bottom and omega Max within the lestappen tag now compared to a couple of year ago.

For me, I like to swap it around. I like to write soft alpha Max and even bottom alpha Max. The main thing for me is that the dynamic works for the story I want to tell. I have started leaning more towards omega Max though because I know that there is plenty of omega Charles out there and there are plenty of people who can write omega Charles much better than I can!!

You are absolutely correct about the comments and kudos thing. Firstly I should say that there are some amazing writers writing some amazing bottom and omega Charles fics that deserve all the love in the world and I am not for one second suggesting that they only have so many responses because of the dynamic but (at least to start with) I found that my omega Charles fics got more kudos than the omega Max ones. That might have just been a coincidence but when I start writing a story I know it will get more attention if I write it with the omega Charles dynamic. I'm not for one second suggesting that that is what people are thinking about btw, it's just a fact I have noticed with my own work. These days I just write what I like and hope some other people like it. If I ranked my fics by kudos they definitely wouldn't be in quality order so I don't worry about that now 😂

Like you have said, everyone should write what they like as it's all for fun. I am just glad there are other people out there reading and writing bottom/omega Max or even just Max getting the love and attention he deserves.

I will read top Max and I enjoy top Max. The only Max fics I don't like are where the writer clearly doesn't like Max and is making him unnecessarily aggressive or just making him the butt of the joke in a mean way. I prefer to read Lestappen when I can tell that the writer likes both of them if that makes sense (obviously people have a favourite but that's different. )

The content warning for the bottom Max fics made me giggle. I don't know what context that was in as I didn't see the post but it definitely made me laugh. Maybe it needs a content warning because its likely to alter your brain chemistry and you'll not be able to see him topping again 😂

I will always write some bottom Charles and some omega Charles because it just works in certain contexts for me but I have felt myself leaning more towards the other dynamic. Hopefully most people don't mind because there are so many Lestappen writers these days so there is definitely plenty of omega Charles to chose from.

I am shocked there is not more Omega Max x Omega Charles though as that seems to fit quite well.

Sorry, I totally rambled there but I am a huge lover of omega and bottom Max and always will be. I am also a huge lover of Max being treated nicely and softly and getting all the attention and affection in the world.

i’ve written two books on Ao3 but have well over one hundred on tumblr.

oh goodness, my top likes have been taken by me yapping abt SOTR, but ‘House of Balloons’, ‘The Nanny’, ‘Cold & Calculated’, ‘Pretty’, & ‘Let it Snow’ are most likely my top five which is funny since most of them are series haha.

4. What fandoms do you primarily write for?

i write for the hunger games fandom, more specifically the TBOSAS fandom. i love evil coryo.

5. Do you respond to comments?

yes!!! since i started writing i have always prioritized interacting with those who read my work, it truly makes my day when i get asks/comments. :,)

6. Angstiest ending?

oh…well, ‘Pretty’ was very sad, i actually had someone ask me if i was doing okay mentally after writing it so i would say it’s pretty dark. also maybe ‘Field Mouse’, ‘Anything At All’, ‘The Witch’, or ‘Passing By’. any stories where soarynn dies always choke me up.

7. Happiest ending?

‘The Nanny’!!! it was probably the happiest ending i wrote, & i was glad to see it end bc it went on for quite some time hehe. also ‘Mr. Peacekeeper’ bc she got her revenge. i try to give soarynn some happy endings every once in a while i promise ;).

8. Do you get hate?

nope. thank goodness bc i really don’t know what i would do if i did. i also just write for such a niche area in the fandom, my own little corner really. the only time the alarms were sounded was for leashgate. only a few remember that one ;)

9. Do you write smut?

hell yeah i do. it was a bit weird writing it at first but now it’s like second nature.

no, i do try to make references to the original HG series but i don’t do crossovers.

everlark!!! i know it’s kinda basic but they’re the standard, sorry not sorry. i based a lot of my own writing on them. i also think that billy from BTK and lucy gray would be quite the pair but that is another can of worms haha.

well…i do have quite a few things that are half written. ‘House of Balloons’ will get finished, im just in a bit of a rut with that one. but there’s lots of things i would like to wrap up in my drafts. i do want to finish my ‘Born to Die’ series, i have two more to write. also the divergent series lmfao, idk what i was thinking with that one.

16. Writing strengths?

dark coryo. i have gotten so many compliments on how i write him which is funny bc i never really felt like i was doing groundbreaking stuff but apparently i write him quite well hehe. also just grammar, an oxford comma hates to see me coming. oh, & keeping with continuity, that is very important to me.

17. Writing weaknesses?

i feel like i use the same words over & over again (seems, truly, quite, &, chuckles) sometimes i feel like my fics all follow the same format so i try my best to change it up. i worry that im either being too descriptive or not descriptive enough. i am never happy with myself lol.

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

so i am going to assume this means two languages at the same time which i am all for.

‘Stay with me, always’ will always be my favorite piece of work. i am so fucking proud of it & will always look back on that time of my life so fondly. when it comes to tumblr, i do love ‘The Nanny’ & also anything petunia related. writing her is one of my many joys in life.

i'd like to think that my dialogue is engaging, my pacing is decent, i have good comedic timing, and that my overall plots (while maybe nothing groundbreaking) are fun and entertaining 🥺

what are your writing weaknesses?

OVERPLANNING, overwriting, and overthinking in general. needing to write in order and being a terminal edit-as-i-go person, which makes it difficult to continue, then getting upset that i'm not progressing akjhskjhs. i fear i'm always walking the fine line between "girl who just likes to yap and wants you to see this as clearly as she does" and writing in circles with purple prose, and i tend to latch onto both my outlines and specific lines/portions that i write far too strongly and have a really hard time letting them go, even when it becomes apparent that they're a big part of what's holding me back (actively working on a lot of this though, and i do think i'm getting a bit better!)

thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i'm most comfortable incorporating other languages as single words or phrases, but if it served the purpose of the fic to have full dialogue, i'd also just want to have a native speaker to check with or i'd be terrified to royally mess it up lmao

first fandom you wrote for?

gundam wing... (creaks in my rocking chair) you see, little ones... back then, we wrote 1x2x1... lemons... limes....

hey iz how are u doing<3 i rlly love ur art and ur blog and how u think, and i was having smth in mind for a long time but i can't rlly seem to sum it up so i wanted an advice, if i see someone rlly like struggling and having a hard time i feel so helpless wanting to give them the slightest bit of advice or comfort but i rlly suck at that, and for the last while i've been wanting to give someone who's like at their lowest anything to say(i always check their reposts and it never gets better)so what do i do?[btw srry for the yapping session but i rlly have no one that i can ask that so forgive me iz, thx sm for checking this TᴖT]

Okay anon i think you might have a bit of a saviour complex going on but worry not! i have the opposite of that, so the first thing i want to point out is that you simply can't 'save' someone who doesn't want to be saved, nor is it really your duty to do so. Don't take their misfortune and wear it as your own cross. I think it's great you want to help your friend, but always put that emotional barrier between yourself and the subject to avoid getting hurt

The worst thing you can do (imo) is to pity or baby them. Opening a conversation with "Hey man, I've seen you repost some (±sad) stuff. Are you okay?:( You can always talk to me ♡ I'm always there for you ❤️" or some therapy shit like that will 90% of the time not work; no one will confess that easily or that directly, no matter how genuine your intentions are, for a plethora of reasons.

Instead, what you can do is engage with them casually. Dont make it a big fuss. If you're online friends, make them feel included: tag them in funny stuff, ask for their opinion, for their input, compliment them, praise them, gift them stuff, make lighthearted jokes and basically act like you normally would, just a bit more methodical in your intentions. When someone is at rock bottom, they have a tendency to catastrophize everything, so by being there to sort of ground them into reality without feeding whatever terrible narrative their brain does at that moment may help them get out of that slump, if only just a little bit.

At the end of their shitty day they might, just miiiiight think something like "Hey everything is awful but at least Anon said i have impeccable taste in k-dramas haha that was cool, Anon was nice to me today" and i think that is a well done job on your part. You threw the rope, now it's their problem whether they want to climb it or not

Gonna go anon for this (for the anon ask game thingy 👀), but you probably have a guess who I am haha. Just a heads-up there’s going to be a lot from me here onwards, so Im sorry for the long text!

Im incredibly grateful to have stumbled upon your art on my dash. The first piece I saw was your Ghoap fanart where Soap sitting on a table, back facing us, his head turned sideways, with Ghost in front of him (if my memory is right, sorry if not). Then eventually the nikprice community! For the longest time, I struggled to truly enjoy COD as a fandom (long story short, I was really active on codtwt, yuck, yeah I know haha and it really took a toll on me, there are multiple factors that also contributed and such which made it hard for me to draw certain ships and character since then, hell I even tried to jump to another fandom but nothing really worked) but seeing your tags, your enthusiasm, and the way you engage with the things you love reminded me that there are still genuine corners in this fandom.

I love your art, genuinely, it took me some time to get used to it because Im used to certain style (this doesn't mean I think your art is bad by the way sorry to come off that way) but there is something personal and endearing about it. The way you draw and share your process and thought process in the tags are so raw and real that I cannot help myself and look through your entire blog then, and the rest is history! Now I see your art I get so so excited (especially when it's a piece where you're really proud of it, it makes me happy too to see you like your own art).

I see you also struggle with self-esteem and just the world really in general which I can relate with. Im here to say that you are not alone and I am really thankful that you used your space to share us your art, your feelings, and just...yourself :)

Additionally, your tags made me realize how much I had been caught up in engagement-driven consumption, you know like just doom-scrolling and getting caught up with the algorithms like likes, shares, views and notes. I had become so used to consuming media at face value and the numbers that I forgot to truly see it, to slow down and appreciate the love and effort people put into their work. Or even my own work...which might sound weird but I have come to the realization that I do not give my own things the appreciation they needed (comparison is such a poisonous habit...)

Your tags made me realize that all these art and fics we're seeing are actual work and effort and love that people put in, and I've been trying to pry myself away from the fast-paced media consumption culture since then and it's been really healing. I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for that.

I totally understand you about struggling with the fandom at first, cod twitter sure is something, people in the fandom are very young too and the fact that it's a huge fandom doesn't help either. It's always a bit cozier on tumblr thankfully, and I'm very happy to hear that you felt comfortable here !! The NikPrice fandom is full of lovely and respectful people, we truly got lucky here <3 I've been in fandom spaces for over 15 years now but this might be the best fandom I've ever been a part of.

I loved your comments about the way I talk in the tags of my art, honestly sometimes I feel like I'm yapping into the void but it sure as hell won't stop me. I like to talk about my process or the idea around a piece, and I'm legit happy to hear that you read what I say. Tags are a comfortable place too, allows me to yap without feeling too annoying.

And yeah, self-esteem could be better, but it's a work in progress. Being any sort of creative mind on the internet can be really difficult, with all the comparing yourself to others, the numbers, the isolation of it all, it's definitely not easy to navigate. I'm really happy to hear that you've reconsidered the way you see fan content on the internet though !! When did you start writing?

Since I was 7 years old! I have ALWAYS loved writing and creating stories set in fictional worlds. I began with Pokemon haha and had a cringe mary sue OC who was a gym leader. 

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

To be honest, I mostly just enjoy reading romance. It can be romance paired with most other genres, but my friends often joke “Anthy won’t like it, it’s not romance”. I need at LEAST a crumb! For the genres I actually write, I don’t feel I’m that great of a romance writer ironically, but I do like writing it. I also like writing angst but hate reading it lmao. 

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

Hmm, I don’t consider myself good enough to be worthy of any comparison at all, but there are a plethora of really talented writers in this fandom space that I greatly admire. 

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

So I have a small lil desk that I write on and a mechanical keyboard. Though sometimes I write on my laptop instead and sit in bed. 

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

Shower thoughts! Also playing the actual game (for my bg3 writing). I really love this game and have about 800 hours in it. 

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

 Surprisingly a lot of my writing turns out angsty haha. 

What is your reason for writing?

 Honestly, just to share stories! I like to read, and I like to write. I believe stories are a wonderful way to connect with others. 

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

Specific comments about what people liked make me giggle and blush, and praise gets me going like none other (even if I don’t feel worthy of it lolol). 

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

Someone just like them! Who loves the pale elf vampire and yapping about him, and writing. 

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Ummm. Next question! 

How do you feel about your own writing?

I don’t have a lot of confidence, but the stories I write are from the heart. 

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?

I 100% write for myself. Especially my current ongoing fic is literally just an extrapolation of the events that happened in my game mixed with a character study of Ascended Astarion, sprinkled with things that I wanted to explore that weren’t wrapped up in the game itself.

THE RESTAURANT CHAOS SEEMS SO REAL like i’ve never worked in a restaurant so i can’t really imagine the environment but hearing the experience from you and my friend who works at olive garden i’m like… maybe i SHOULDNT complain about my retail job LOL LIKE IT SEEMS SO CHAOTIC? but that’s so true!!(sorry you probably have no idea what i’m talking about) LIKE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN MAKING SURE THE CUSTOMER IS OKAY like ill be running around the store holding like pounds of clothing and ill have a customer come up to me like “erm do you have this in the back?” LIKE MA’AM RESPECTFULLY NO IM SORRY CAN YOU TALK TO ME WHEN IM NOT BUSY but i CANT say that so i just end up saying “im sorry whatever we have out here is all we have :)” then i scurry away like IM JUST A GIRL?? also also idk if this is a common thing too but lets talk about some of the WEIRDOS at work right so i know im 18 now but when i was a minor i had some weird interactions with MEN(let me just give you a little description of mango anon right so im like 5’1 and i have a baby face like “going into places saying i’m 13 for it to be cheaper” type of baby face)(but this is when i was like 16 i don’t think that trick will work anymore LOL) but tell me why i had GROWN MEN come up to me USING MY NAME(curse name tags) be weird? like i had this one guy literally tell ME(I WAS 16 OR 17 DURING THIS) “you’d make a good housewife!” when i was folding his clothes and at first i was like yo okay that’s a bit weird but then he was like “how old do you have to be to work here?” THEN i was like okay okay that’s personal information! so i was just like “oh haha idk” like awkwardly and he’s like “so do you have to be over 18 to work here” and i was like SIR okay your total is $18.67 how would you like to pay today! anyways it was weird, my other coworkers also had a lot of weird interactions so like one of my coworkers who was older than me just told me to not wear my name tag like our managers won’t make a huge deal out of it and whatever so yeah that was that, lesson of the day! don’t be a weirdo!

also i swear run and props is like favourite for tech theatre WHICH I GET like when i was in high school a lot of people liked being in run and prop because idk they like the big role or something?? i think also costumes and makeup was also pretty popular but like i remember one time the director flipped a switch on us because like the makeup crew was actually people from our cosmetology class and they would like fool around A LOT like they did the makeup but they would be like yapping a lot so one day my director was like IF UR NOT GONNA DO UR JOB THEN WE’LL HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT !! and then everyone was like oohh okayyy(we got yelled at A LOT tbh for little silly things)(tech theatre ptsd ill tell u) and omg the kid who wanted your light job like CALM DOWN(i am now too spiteful against them)(i will hire the etsy witch to curse them for you) like i swear i’ve met some of the worse people in tech and its CRAZY like the ratio of normal people to absolute arrogant weirdos is CRAZY(ill be generous and say 1:3)and literally yeah like i didn’t want to continue with tech because of the toxic environment like i literally CAN NOT, i know people in uni would be a little more mature and like take tech more seriously but i STILL CANT LIKE there will always be that one person that will ruin it for everyone so i had to blow out the torch and unfortunately say goodbye to theatre </3 UNLESS ONE DAY IN THE FUTURE I HEAR YOU DROP THAT YOURE GONNA BE WORKING AT A THEATRE i’ll literally buy my plane tickets and sign up to be sounds and go be with you like YOU WILL MAKE IT BEARABLE and we’ll literally be the ultimate lights and sound duo like no one can compete idc if the other person has more years of experience than me I WILL STILL SQUEEZE MYSELF IN !! TECH THEATRE PTSD </33 IMO I ALWAYS THOUGHT RUN/PROPS WAS SUPER POPULAR JUST BC IT SEEMED LIKE THE EASIEST THING TO START IN IF THAT MAKES SENSE?? LIKE LIGHTS/SOUND ALWAYS SOUNDS INTIMIDATING AND FOR MY SCHOOL (going to stop talking in caps bc idk why i'm screaming all the time like for what?? calm down ness it's ok) we had like a SINGLE person on makeup (and so our tech director would do specials) and like just a few people for costumes. sound was usually like two people, lights was a bit bigger (unfortunately)(i HATE working with people)(except if i worked with u <3 i would be jumping for joy and my life would be sunshine and rainbows <3), but run and props was always the biggest. like i started there bc it seemed the least scary!! so i think that's a lot of other people's thought process too 😭 WE ALSO GOT YELLED AT A LOT FOR STUPID THINGS or i mean idk if it was stupid we kind of deserved it bc like theatre kids yap SO much but like my director during tech week would always be like "we must preach patience and kindness guys!! everyone is stressed during this week so please be patient with each other ❤" and then HE'D be the one to blow up like my freshman year when i got thrown into ASMing for our spring play backstage like someone on my side was talking and my director like LOST IT and came into the wing from behind me and started yelling at us and literally gave me a panic attack 😭😭 like i had to leave bc i could NOT breathe and luckily someone found me bc i was fully about to pass out LMAOAOAO AND THEN my junior year is when i started lights and so u probably get this but like yk lights and sound is always in a booth (which i think are always behind all the seats, right? or at least that's how it's been for every theatre i've gone to) and so our director lost it again bc someone was talking i think but since i'm in the booth we watch this middle aged bald man get up and go behind stage and we're all like "oh no."

like that rehearsal full on stopped everyone started hiding LMAO OUR PEOPLE WITH HEADSETS BACKSTAGE PUT DOWN THEIR MICS SO WE COULD HEAR WHO HE WAS YELLING AT but everyone in the booth went on lockdown like our spot op ran up to hide in the booth and then we locked the door and i hid on a speaker bc i was NOT getting yelled at again but then we resumed rehearsal and our director never came up so my stage manager next to me and me were like "oh thank goodness he didn't come yell at us" AND THEN HE POPPOED UP RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR BOOTH WINDOW AND I SCREAMED 😭😭😭 AND HE CAME IN AND THEN JUST WENT

💌 Have you ever hit it off with a mun right away? What were they like? How fast do you think it takes to warm up to new people? Yup, certainly have. There's been people that I've just gotten along w/ like a house on fire immediately right off the bat, the kind where I send an IM at 12 am expecting them to respond in the morning but then by 2 am we've knocked out a whole joint universe ajfkdsl;ajl;dsfsf Usually people I get along with are equally chatty, pretty chill and willing to add their own ideas to my ideas when we plot. I think it's chemistry though, like I think it's entirely possible some writers just mesh better OOC than others. Maybe it boils down to similar communication styles or similar tastes in tropes, and that's okay! It's Like Real Life (tm) and that's fine.

I warm up to people differently on a case to case basis, tbh. In general I think I'm a slow to warm up kind of person who puts quite a bit of weight on boundaries (my own but also I never want to cross someone else's!) but generally if someone's consistent w/ their approach, it works. I've always been bad at approaching first but once you reach out to me I always try my best not to let anything you give me fall flat!

🩵 Do you have any apparent flaws when it comes to RPing/interacting? Be gentle with yourself! I'm impulsive and also I take forever. That's the biggest apparent flaw, honestly. Sometimes the muse holds the brain cell and doesn't let me write things that I know I should write, so sometimes people are stuck waiting for a while. I try to balance this by having a lot of different muse combinations with people so that they can always get at least One Thing back but it doesn't always work tbh. I also unfortunately procrastinate writing even when I want to write, because my brain is just, wired like that somehow.

✨ Are you easily intimidated by muns or muses that you admire? oh yeah, absolutely. I'm just a little bunny hiding in my bushes hhhh. Think about our bond as team rocket in the outside but extremely soft in the inside lol

the thing is that Cags (as I call him) is quite a fragile being, far from the man who everyone judges him as. I have my reasons to elaborate but now I'm too tired and I'll do it throughout time, eventually, haha.

I’M SAYINGGG yuki had his moment and then vanished bruh…i actually do like kiyora (him in the anime w that coloring is basically exactly what a male animated version of me would look like so i’m biased) but i wish his development didn’t come at the cost of previous characters…bllk has such a huge cast that it’s hard to balance it though fs so i do get it 😔 TABIEITA WILL COME BACK TRUST ‼️ people on social media say karasu won’t make it to the top 23 and i’m like??? he’s kinda carrying pxg atm icl he just has NO help plus he’s against isagi and ng11 kaiser so ofc it’s going to be difficult. overall though he’s one of the few players we’ve seen who actually plays really well midfield/defensively plus they’ve introduced this dynamic w hiori so i’m pretty sure he’s making it…as for otoya he’s ranked like number 10 rn i think he’s safe 😭 but he and bachira might be the only barcha players to make it because they are in fact the only relevant ones 😓

HeliosR - Akira Otori Character story - part 3

Translation of the third part of Akira’s character story from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’. 

Juvenile boy: Excuse meee! Could you please throw that ball over here?

Gast: Ooh, gotcha. Make sure to catch it, alright?

Young boys: Thank you so much!

Gast: Haha, these lil’ guys ‘round here are pretty polite. Have the times changed?

Akira: Well, obviously they have given how I’m in charge of South now.

Gast: Yeah, yeah, though it hasn't been more than half a month since we got assigned. Always in high spirits, aren’tcha

Gast: Man, this basketball court s’pretty nostalgic. We’d often hang around, wasting our time there back in the day

Akira: Or these underground café’s in alleyways. But we started gathering in warehouses after some guy goofed up and police got their eyes on him

Gast: Aaah, right, right. That’s from ‘bout 4, 5 years ago now, eh…

Akira: Hmm, has it been that long. Don’t really remember much of it

Gast: Anything that’s inconvenient doesn’t stick for too long with you, don’t it, Akira. Does with me though, like back when you wanted to join me and all

Gast: You showed up out of nowhere, acting pretty cocky. Going all “I’ll bring ya down and become the best delinquent out there~”, somethin’ like that

Akira: W-what….? Ya sure you ain’t mistaking me for some other guy?

Gast: Guess I gotta leave it at that. Anyways, thanks for inviting me to hang out today, Akira

Gast: You’re gonna tag along to that darts bar after we’re done eating too, right? Really lookin’ forward to it

Akira: I kept saying how we should definitely come and hang around again in Red South after being admitted but, didn’t really have the chance due to how busy I was

Gast: Can’t say it's the same for me though. Well, you do look like you gotta bring South to number one on the sector ranking?

Akira: ….Don’t wanna hear any snark from the guy who’s sector is standing in first place

Gast: Haha, m’bad for that. How’s stuff goin’ lately anyway?

Gast: Brad’s your mentor, but it don’t feel like you two are hitting it off?

Akira: Oi. I’m enjoying my day off here, don’t rain on my parade by making me think of that guy’s face 

Gast: You sayin’ that means it’s the same as usual, eh…

Akira: Aaaugh~ just remembering it made me angry! I’ll definitely prove myself by become THE strongest hero!

Gast: He got fired up… Ain’tcha gon’ burn out by going on like that?

Akira: A genius doesn’t mess up like that

Akira: Though you say so but how’s stuff on your part, Gast. Didn't ya say how North’s got a lot of Northy things to it?

Akira: With Ren, well, I can imagine it already but… Don’t both of ya mentors come over as crazy guys

Gast: I’ll keep my mouth shut ‘cuz I ain’t wanna sound like I’m being grumpy but… It is pretty crazy, in a different sense than you think it is 

Akira: Really…. That Marion’s pretty self-important towards you too, ain’t he

Akira: Actually I’m sure I asked this before but, aren’t Marion and Will the same age? Don’t that make him a year younger than ya?

Akira: He’s younger and yet he acts superior, why don’t you say anything to him

Gast: Hey, hold on there, age’s got nothin’ to do with it. It’s damned clear who’s the mentor and who’s the rookie?

Gast: Besides, Marion acts like that towards everyone, he’s got what it takes

Akira: Would’ve ya taught him a lesson if he didn’t?

Gast: Man, you’re really…. Enough of that, it’s time for you to graduate from that behaviour

Akira: Just wanted to try and say it. Besides I’ve graduated long time ago, I’m no longer some kinda delinquent, but a hero

Akira: But…honestly, there is something that’s a liiiiiittle bit unclear to me though

Gast: What is it?

Akira: ‘Cuz you’re, like---

Delinquent A: All of you, get your sorry asses outta this court. This is our territory

Gast: Huh, what?

Juvenile boy: Eh, um… We always play basketball here though…

Delinquent B: Does it look like I care. It’s ours now from today on, guys that get in without permission will be… don’t think I gotta say anything else ‘bout that, aye?

Juvenile boy: Wah...a k-knife!?

Akira: Grr, what’re these guys doing….

Gast: Oi Akira, you ain’t gonna just suddenly barge in are y---

Akira: Bastards! What’cha all doing there!

Gast: Haah, he totally didn’t listen…

Akira: Ya shouldn’t be pointing something so dangerous at others, hurry up and drop it

Delinquent A: What the fuck’s up with y-.... Huh, it’s some guy from Helios. We ain’t scared of you or the police, so beat it

Akira: ...Fine. I was just giving a warning but, what’ll happen after this is lies on you guys for ignoring m-

Gast: What did I tell you about yapping like a delinquent, Akira

Akira: Ouwch!?

Akira: You fu-...Gast! How dare you bonk me on the head, I was killing it with my cool act!

Gast: Yeah, yeah. You’re the same as those guys who don’t listen, always storming off first and snapping at the others with no hesitation

Delinquent A: Oi…. Didn’t that guy just, say “Gast”?

Delinquent B: I heard it too… Actually, haven’t I seen that face somewhere before?

Gast: Hm?

Delinquent A: Um, excuse me, my good sir~.... If I’m not mistaken, are you perhaps Gast Adler….?

Gast: Yeah, what ‘bout it?

Delinquent A: Hweeeh…!? He’s THAT “Gast” for real!

Delinquent B: I heard that he had retired, so WHY is he here? I don’t want anything to do with this, we gotta run!

Akira: There they go… So they knew about you. Well, you were petty well-known back in your delinquent days

Gast: Guess my dark past is gonna keep on trailing behind me, how embarrasin’...

Akira: Heheh, I think it’s really awesome♪

Gast: What are you actin’ so proud for….

Akira: Aah. If only I could’ve shown this to that Marion

Akira: Showing off Gast scaring off delinquents with only his face and name, how his younger bros still idolize him till this day

Akira: Honestly, if ya were to tell me that you we’re a mentor, I wouldn’t think twice about it. That’s the kind of guy you are, a good senpai.

Gast: Akira, did you just call me your “senpai”?

Gast: Going back to the day we met, you’d always be calling after me with that cocky ‘tude of yours...

Akira: We’re buddies but, strictly speaking we are senpai and kouhai. Ain’t gonna say it again though, take it as a one time thing

Gast: Yeah, that’s fine. It’d be nice if you were to call me “Gast-san” while wagging your tail like these bros of mine once in a while

Akira: Haaah? I’m not gonna wag my tail for anyone, I’m a man who’ll become the strongest hero!

Gast: Haha, got it

Gast: ….Honestly, with how he’s doing now, I’m sure he’ll be saying how good of a mentor Brad was down the line

Akira: Hmm? What did ya just say, Gast?

Gast: Hm- … Aah, just how you’re in a good mood as you usually are, and how it makes you a loveable idiot

Gast: C’mon, let’s get moving and grab a bite. Wanna play darts as soon as possible too

Camping Date  - (A Gordie x Lilac Fanfic)

Gordie suddenly stopped in his tracks as a message from his good friend kept him from pacing down his hallway for the twentieth time.

Raihan: ayyyy mate

Raihan: you ready for that camping date w lilac??

Gordie’s cheeks flushed at the word ‘date’.

Gordie: Raihan it’s not a date, she wouldn’t wanna go on a date with me.

Raihan: nah she totally would. have you seen the way she acts around you?

Raihan: I’m proud of ya son

Gordie: shut up

Raihan: also she sees the way you act around her, you know

Raihan: sooo its obv she has feelings for you mate.

Gordie turned his head away from his Rotom Phone, not looking at the text to make himself calm down; he definitely had feelings for her, but, could he really have his hopes up like that? That she liked him back?

Gordie: I’m just glad she accepted my offer to hang out with me tbh

Raihan: mhmm... ‘hang out’

Raihan: so you two could smooch in the stony wilderness eh

Gordie: stop making this romantic raihan

Raihan: why? because you can’t accept the truth? lol

Gordie: ugh

Gordie: just don’t make me nervous before this. it’s really big for me

Raihan: i got you bro! you’re gonna do great.

Raihan: she loves your pokemon (and you) I can tell.

Raihan was right at that. Ever since the Gym Challenge that made them Gym Leaders, Lilac always showed interest towards Gordie’s Pokémon team. It was probably the only interest towards his Pokémon then, but it continued on to their careers as Gym Leaders, and that’s what he loved.

Gordie: thanks, mate. i’m about to get into a flying taxi to head over now. see you :]

Raihan: my man’s gonna get a gf!!!!! good luck out there lad!

Gordie had just finished setting up the campsite in the Stony Wilderness when he heard a Corviknight squawking and flapping its wings nearby. He knew it was Lilac’s taxi, and began to walk up to the seating area he set up for them, which was a tree trunk he found nearby that his Tyranitar carried over for him (such a strong guy, Tyranitar!). 

And before he even knew it, Lilac poked her head around the corner of the two stones that were just behind the trunk bench, smiling.

“Gordie!” she greeted him. Gordie involuntarily gave her a beam, hugging her. It was a tight hug, but not too tight: like a big Beartic hug saved just for her. After all, he couldn’t really help but feel anxious in a peculiar homesick way whenever the two couldn’t see each other at work. 

“Hey, Lils! How have you been?” he said, trying not to trip over his words already as he heard his heart beat against his chest. “You find your way here alright with the cabbie?” 

“It was fine! The guy even mentioned he liked this place quite a bit. Said it was a great location for a d- uh, you know, just a nice campfire with your Pokémon!”

Gordie laughed in agreement, but wondered about the cabbie knowing about their date; if he knew, the news could spread out to the public and everyone could know, including his mum of all people...! (Not that she didn’t know they had ‘unrequited’ feelings for each other anyways.)

They both heard the low, neutral growls of Gordie’s Pokémon, looking behind them to see the whole team clamoured around them both in a circle.

“Oh, they’ve noticed you’re here now, eh?” he said, turning around to face his team. “Alright, you lot. Lilac’s here, okay? She’s gonna be camping with us, so all of you on your best behaviour around her!” 

Lilac grinned to herself at that statement, comparing it to Gordie instructing a bunch of mischievous kids like he was a teacher. But, she always knew his team could be mischievous like little kids themselves, including Shuckle, who was quite fussy over PokéDolls. And, to be fair, her team was playful in their own ways as well. 

Lilac sent out her Pokémon with each Poké Ball’s signature zap, releasing her team for a play outside with Gordie’s. Pikachu looked around at the Rock-type Pokémon, inquisitive as the rest of her team went out on the grassy field to play.

“I’m surprised Pikachu let me put her in her ball,” she stated. “but she loves to play with Coalossal, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was for him!”

Gordie felt his cheeks heat up; maybe it was such a simple statement, but the fact even her Pokémon were in a good relationship with his seemed like pure happiness, like everyone was getting along... Even with all the Gym Battles they’d been paired up with, Pikachu and Coalossal seemed like Poké Buddies, through Gigantamax and thin.

Gordie cleared his throat to distract from his now very rosy cheeks. “How about you take a seat? I’m gonna make curry for all of us, I’m sure we have enough for two teams!”

“That sounds lovely! Thanks, Gordie.” she replied, sitting down on the trunk and propping her cane up against the side of it, consoling her shy Togedemaru as Gordie came over to his curry-making pot to set up his ingredients.

In her eyes, Gordie always made the best curry for her. He once made her Moomoo Cheese-Covered Curry at work and fell in love with his cooking skill since; if she married him or moved in with him it would mean all the best meals for her and their Pokémon in the World...

When everyone had finished their curry, Gordie and Lilac sat on the trunk as their Pokémon played together. It was like watching their - quite large if taken both figuratively and literally - family run around in the park as a married couple.

 Lilac quickly scratched those thoughts out of her mind; what was she thinking already acting like she was married to Gordie...? A breeze came across their faces and Lilac sighed, trying to distract from the ridiculous daydream she had. There was another question on her mind, ever since she arrived at the Stony Wilderness.

“Gordie?”

“Hm?” Gordie perked up from the sudden question from them being so silent as they relaxed.

“Do you think... Coalossal likes me? Like, doesn’t hate me or whatever?” she puffed out, cheeks in her hands.

“No, I don’t think so. I think none of my team dislike you in any way. How come you ask that, Lils?”

“He’s been staring at me for a while...” 

Gordie turned around to see Coalossal gazing at Lilac from afar with somewhat confused and focused eyes. If he’d ever seen eyes like those, he just wanted to play with Lilac.

Gordie got up from his seat and started calling for Coalossal. 

Coalossal let out a dim roar as he walked to Lilac, yet his footsteps were so powerful and loud against the soft grass. It shook Lilac to her very core, holding onto Gordie and then freezing in place when she tried to escape.

“Gordie! He’s mad at me-!”

“Don’t worry, it’s okay, he’s coming over with me here...!”

When Coalossal let the last booms of his footstep echo throughout the field, he was dangerously near Lilac when she spotted something in his hands...

A ball. 

“Ah?” Lilac exclaimed. Coalossal gave her a happy expression, a cheerful rumble coming out of him as he leaned in to give her the ball with his large, yet hilariously stubby arms. Shuckle patted her ankle with one of his strange, limp arms, calming her with little ‘shuckle-shuckle’ sentences of his. It was a weird, but a very reassuring feeling.

“You scared her a little, Coalossal! Next time you wanna play, go up to her nicely this time, alright?” Gordie chortled with a wide smile on his face. Coalossal replied with a purl and Lilac threw the ball for Coalossal when she had finally unfroze. The same pounding footsteps continued as Coalossal chased after the ball, catching it to play with Barbaracle and Boltund, with Boltund yapping away. 

Lilac laughed at herself for being so silly around Coalossal, and turned to Gordie. At this point, she became quite fixated on him; she noticed how reassuring and motivating he was, especially recently around one of his main and very intimidating Pokémon. She didn’t notice she was staring until he looked himself into her eyes. His cute eyes. Her cute eyes, he thought.

“Gordie?” she asked again, but with an explicitly more shy tone. “You know, I think I like you too.” 

Gordie inhaled a sharp breath as a wave of relief swept over him from the amount of tension he had experienced, tense over whether or not she liked him.

“Really?”

“Yeah... Y-Yeah, I do. You’re...”

Their heads moved in close together, a move completely involuntary, but a move needed to break the feeling of unrequited feelings between each other.

“You’re...”

A loud cry from Pikachu startled both of them, when they peeked together at what made her do that, Shuckle was cradling her like one of his PokéDolls. 

“No! No, Shuck- I’m so sorry, Li- Shuckle, that is not one of your PokéDolls! That’s Lils’ Pikachu! Drop her now!”

Lilac watched on as Shuckle cried out in retaliation, disappointed that they were interrupted so suddenly, but still amused at how much of a toddler Shuckle acted like. She leaned down, petting her Togedemaru, returning to near her legs.

“That’s Gordie’s team for you, isn’t it, sweet?”

Gordie: he is, isn’t he? haha, little troublemaker

Lilac: gordie? do you

Lilac: do you want to go on another date sometime?
