🌟 ART SUMMARY 2024 🥂

this was a year where i didnt draw a lot, despite that, i tried to make every drawing count. thank you all for the support in 2024, here's to 2025 ! ����

i continued my goals from last year with regards to perfectionism. the tldr is that i strongly feel my perfectionism kept me away from completing as many drawings as i could, and i had to make an effort to just finish drawings no matter how lukewarm I felt about them. 2024 was a strange year, it came and went in the blink of an eye, even more than previous years! life has been stressful, so i've been trying to focus more on myself and taking time off drawing. ironic, although i think i succeeded in that above goal, i expected to get more drawings out of it, but ended up taking more time off drawing anyways. towards the end of the year, i started feeling more burnt out, and drawing became a slow and arduous process. i think part of the reason was because 2024 was my first year doing 5 events - 2 full weekend conventions (anime north and otakuthon), and 3 single day events (bamtori fall aapi market, toronto game expo, bamtori jinglebam market), when in the past 2 years i'd just opt to do 1-2 local cons. it was also my first time doing single day events, which were super chill! although you have to both set up and tear down on the same day, i felt more casual at those events, had more time to chat and look around. back to my point - despite being fun, doing so many events took its toll on me - especially during the colder months of the year, where i wasn't so used to going to events haha! usually i take fall as the time to rejuvenate and recover from summer events, but i couldn't really do that this year. i kept questioning myself, "does this drawing have appeal? will people buy this?" "is my art hireable?" and it's just not a healthy mindset to have. next year i'll try to draw more of what i enjoy and what's on my mind, instead of worrying too much if it's sellable! *feeling like the HAHA YES sickos meme* - 2025 art goals outlined below: - oc zine (aiming for a character guide with some test comics) - character interactions & poses! e.g. dancing, hugs - generally stuff that's more difficult to draw. my art is more illustrative, but sometimes i wished it was more engaging emotionally? like i want people to smile and cry with my characters... - illustrations that challenge me. when i say illusts that challenge me it's pretty abstract - do research and gather inspiration for every illust.. compositions that are difficult/complex and take a while to draft.. strong theme.. it's more for me to understand AHAHAHA. as the years go by you can see my art becoming more unified in theme and self indulgent... i want to keep going, i want to make art that is uniquely mine. less priority: - get used to sketching! truly miss how i used to fill up sketchbooks every year - sticker sheets (this is on the less priority list bc i will probably fulfill this goal regardless) - oc merch (happy with the stickers i made in the last 2 yrs, let's keep going!) - silly things! e.g. 4koma, silly doodles. comedy is an art, it IS a skill you can study and chip away at (e.g. comedians and comedy writers). make sure i take notes on really stand-out jokes i find funny & why

other various things to try and draw more of: - group pictures - animals - layouts and props. i find layouts and anything with hard surfaces difficult to draw, which is why i draw a lot of flowers and fabric LMAO. one thing i gotta do is start by either drawing characters holding props more (easy baby steps!) and/ or start drawing props around them and make my way towards harder things (e.g. practice drawing a character sitting, i'll start by drawing a simple chair, then a table, then objects on that table). this is also one of my weaknesses - draw the ground they're standing on if possible, e.g. characters standing on a grid - vehicles, if i can. i mostly draw stuff from fantasy series where cars don't exist LOL but i'll try...

I love this blog so much! I'd love to see some more art of the daycare itself or the caregivers working with the kids in each of theor jobs. Is there any plans for that in the future? also I'd love to know more about the real world vs daycare/digital world and how that works! this is such a comfy and cozy story!

This answer will be a little long as I'll go through each point! And also because I'm a yapper </3

This whole story started as a silly conversation between me and my friend Omu because we both love daycare AUs and are generally big comforts to us. The real world is not any different while the digital one, as stated in the other ask I answered, is set in an old fashioned flash games site.

The Kinito digital pet was not successful, so Sonny decided to aim at a younger audience compared to the teens. He make a few flash games and rebranded the mascots to match the purpose of their new ambience

Tho, Sonny used the same code of the digital pet to make sure Kinito was able to learn what the kids needed, hence making him sentient. He saw how a lot of kids were sad, some bullied even by their own parents, so he did the most reasonable thing he could think of: a safe place for them.

Everytime a kid would be sad, Kinito would bring them to the daycare for a while, then bring them back to the real world. Of course, this concerned parents and threatened Sonny's project but the latter saw it as an opportunity to solve oh so many problems related to parenting. The daycare was a free spot to leave the kids at if the parents had to stay away, the parents could ask for tips to the digital caregivers if they found themselves stuck, and in bad situations Kinito was able to connect to the Child Protective Services through internet. Since the site was free, the money was obtained through merch, but there was also an option for donations on the site and subscriptions for exclusive merch.

With the story settled, to answer your questions, I am absolutely planning to draw and write lots of stuff! I will post the doodles I already have in a bit now that the PSA cards are ready. On the other hand I'm hesitant to share the fics I wrote because they contain a little mention to bad parenting and impure regression (which, for context, is when you regress under high levels of stress and you find yourself stuck in that state)

In the meantime tho I can give you some more headcanons!

Each caregiver's appearance, as you can see, resembles their respective role.

Kinito is the main mascot and is a plushy, based also a lot on Winnie the Pooh. He's very patient and sweet and is in charge of anything that happens during day time, whether it'll be playing, reading, teaching, coloring and so on

Sam is in charge of night time and is a night light, can change the intensity of his light and also the warmth of his body. Kids all dogpile on him when it's nap time because he's super warm and cozy

Jade is the mother figure of all kids and adults included, she's in charge of snack time and she's based off a teething toy! She also helps teaching kids to clean after themselves (usually Sam is included with the kids for his laziness /silly)

Another silly thing all of them can do is pull a command prompt and turn you into a kid, that's what basically happens to Aspen all times he's portrayed as a child. They can physically make you regress and let you participate in all the activities, they care a lot for their fellow age regressors just as much they care for their kids

The daycare in general is structured very similar to the one on FNAF:Security Breach, that place is very comforting for me especially Sun and Moon so ofc I based myself off of that hehe

The main area is the day time one, with different places for different activities, then on the sides there would be the snack time area and nap time area, so every caregiver has its place but can still move around to interact with the kids

Helpers are always welcome! All of the other human caregivers are active volunteers from the real world! Whether it'll be because they like doing it in their free time or because they want a place to train themselves in the subject, maybe soon to be parents considering the options even.

Of course this brings to a huge utopia but who cares am I right? We deserve to be happy <3

tbh ive been contemplating a silly oneshot sequel to as you like it but i do have to actually finish the damn thing before i even think about that so ill leave it there.

im actually notoriously bad at killing my darlings so i didn't think i'd have that many deleted scenes, but i did find a few older versions of the makoto&ren scene in chapter 6 of as you like it that i had completely forgotten about. looking back on these i actually still like them

v1.0 of the grounding sequence ren goes through after his nightmares. i think i cut this because it was too long and didn't flow well in context, but im sort of fond of it in isolation:

2. a character whose POV you’re currently exploring

ren! i think he's fun because he's the player character and the protags are generally designed to be pretty malleable (or personalityless if you're feeling uncharitable... or wrong) so obviously there's a temptation to just make him whatever your story needs him to be, but i think he's a really tempting and interesting opportunity to really get your claws into a guy who has a personality but refuses to show it and have that be one of his character traits. he's so adaptable to every situation but there are so many moments where his stubbornness and inner values shine through in his limited dialogue, so the challenge becomes like, how do you deduce the rest of a character's hidden personality based on the little they show you? how do you unpack someone whose character is that he wants to be whoever you want him to be? what's going on in his mind? how do you understand him and fill in the gaps in a way that's consistent with what he does in canon when he gives you so little to work with? this is an irresistible challenge to me so he just lives in my brain. he's not even renting he owns the place and he doesnt have a mortgage

3. how you feel about your current WIP

i think palacefic is the project that ignites the most personal passion and excitement in me so im really so excited to finish writing it so i can share it and also so i can read it instead of reading my own chickenscratch notes and think about how excited i am to write it

4. a story idea you haven’t written yet

i keep coming back to circle this idea of postcanon akeshu and how they navigate a relationship (word used free of connotation) where they are constantly circling each other and obviously cant do without each other but also like. are so codependent and not at all functional enough to really have a normal romantic relationship or even friendship. i wrote like a short scene of this which i put on twitter a while back i might actually post it here. and i also started a short fic just to get some thoughts down but never had any plans for how to continue it

So… what do y’all do when you wanna do a bajillion things but you can’t settle on which thing to do so you just kind of end up doing nothing?

… lissen I’m still only recently diagnosed with adhd so I still don’t know how to work with it… I wanna draw so many things, wanna make merch, comics, I wanna write a fuckton of silly cringe fanfics… I wanna make videos? Like maybe youtube videos rambling abt stuff while drawing but then I don’t know if anyone would even be interested in that, and besides I haven’t done video editing in…. Probably close to 20years? What program should I use? Anyone got any tips on that?

I also wanna try doll customization cause it’s kinda only been the last decade or so where I’ve allowed myself to like dolls… reasons for that being … uh… gender stuff… it’s like only now in my life, around 30 have I finally gotten somewhat close to getting a grasp on my gender and sexuality, and I never even really realized before that this was something I had a problem with? Which probably makes no sense tbh…

I also wanna do sculpting and even paint, after art school teachers made me feel like I should never paint again bcs idk man I wasn’t up to their standards 🤷

And… I wanna do all this stuff but not only does brain say ‘adhd my guy’ but there’s also my increasing health issues that… I mean I’ve always had them but I guess getting older makes it harder and harder to constantly deal with them… and that’s another thing I never really realized was so bad until back when I was in Japan in 2015-2016 as an exchange student and would have to go to the hospital increasingly often bcs of pain nobody could diagnose… aand then I was shamed for it bcs having to go to the hospital in the middle of the night sometimes was a huge hassle to the dorm staff, idk I was a problem…

Since then I’ve had two operations and will probably need to have more in the future. Also, amusingly, when I finally got diagnosed I was looking at the list of symptoms, all of which I could relate to in at least some way, but the ones that stood out, for some reason, were ‘constant exhaustion’ and then below it was ‘insomnia’ and… maybe I’m not actually lazy when I’m tired all the time? But y’know, I don’t really wanna use a chronic condition as an excuse to just do nothing, plenty of ppl have chronic problems but still do stuff with their life… but when I think like that I also remember this isn’t a ‘pain competition’ or something like that and different people just have different capabilities to deal with chronic pain and such… idk, I honestly think I’m still trying to come to terms with the realization that being exhausted and in pain all the time probably counts as some kind of disability….. but I don’t feel like I’m allowed to say I’m disabled bcs I do also have good days, you know? I should probably try harder to just DO things?

Ahem, it’s like 9AM and I haven’t been able to sleep and stuff hurts… I just wanna go do something productive but instead I’m whining on here which I probably shouldn’t do bcs this is the internet and strangers can see what you post and maybe use it against you but also sometimes you just really wanna rant into the void… or maybe more like semi-void cause idk, maybe someone reads this and can relate or give advice or just talk or something? SOOO MANY! BUT for now, i'll stick with a small one on their beginning friendship :D

nao used to be very quiet in a lot of her classes; a nice person, certainly, and easy to talk to! but rather closed off unless you tried to pry, where even that would just be rude and she'd say as much.

but of course, there were small things here and there she'd share with her friends should you happen to overhear. usually, it'd be anime/manga that she'd recommend to others (usually horror with interesting concepts, though she wasn't immune to well-written 'slice of life's) - which resulted in hana (her best friend) actually buying her a keychain for her bag!! nao doesn't usually wear/buy merch, as she fears she'll lose/damage them, but... since her friend got it, she felt she'd be disappointed if she didn't show it off.

&...! this is the spark for professor mishima to actually prompt her on her interests; one of the few things she'd end up rambling on about... and he has enough context to keep her going!

it was nice getting to see her actually relax a bit, if a bit surprising to realize that she liked horror so much... and of course, it was when she inevitably brought it back to art (she was inspired to become an artist from such a silly thing, though mishima assures he understands) that she started getting nervous again; as much as she loves it, she can't draw it well. it doesn't feel like it could fit her style much at all - she intimidates herself out of drawing it.

however! mishima does not lose hope so easily. he encourages her to keep trying & experimenting with her art. after all, art is something she should have for herself if nothing else...

although mishima doesn't typically work with horror, he does have plenty of pointers on how to incorporate characters into a backdrop (it provides variation + reflects his current views too... people being a part of something larger, connected through means they don't quite realize); he had a similar start to nao in that he often relied heavily on portraits/character focus, but for that reason can help lead her along into slowly branching out.

a lot of what nao likes is the eerie - something that you have to really look at to realize how off it is. working on backgrounds such as these definitely helps with integrating characters in a more natural manner! and helps improve her work altogether, too...!! she's having more fun than she used to with her personal projects, where she previously felt stagnant but couldn't pinpoint why (and felt guilty to ask hana, as the response would always be a well-meaning "but i like your art! i don't think that at all" rather than critique she wished for), so it was...!! really nice for her to have <3

and... getting to show a trusted adult that, too, made her very happy. her parents didn't often see art as something that'd work out... but she finally felt pride in her work, and had something else to look forward to when it came to classes, rather than simply skirting by day-to-day. it took about a year and a half of school to get here, but... it makes it feel worth it.

it's also around this late time of the year, too, that mishima casually mentions he's trans.

one of the other students is complaining about the cold, and he agrees a bit too personally that skirts are awful in this weather before offering his usual advice... and it's this moment that stays in nao's mind. combined with previous comments here and there about the dysmorphia in horror...

despite this near-confirmation... nao waits until the very end of the year before she admits to the professor that she's trans. she hasn't really socially transitioned yet, only a few friends know, and she's still a bit afraid she might've misunderstood that he's trans... but it all turns out well by the end of it <3

however, since she's about to enter her last year with people who mostly knew her as a boy, it's only when she graduates that mishima offers to help put word in to adjust her uniform; which she greatly appreciates... also, throughout her last year, they get to actually discuss how it is to be mixed & that is when he offers to learn arabic with her. she was never taught it, and is too embarrassed to ask her parents, so he's taken it upon himself to help her with that too... here and there, still as her mentor and friend even after their time in school :'D

ok. ranking all the outfits in this merch line actually

in first place we have nagi. no question. slaying. killing it. serving cunt. the snappy red on white? the HEELS? the LACE CUFFFS? the brocade? the single gorgeously contrasting touch of green? he literally used the slayper rifle to shoot the mother bullet into the head of john f cuntedy. ironic for a guy who never gives a shit about anything but we can only assume he has a stylist. again i cannot overemphasize: the fucking HEELS. they had to hide those things halfway offscreen because they were afraid of his power

reo taking second place because he can never be separated from his husband <3 i'm biased because i looove the color purple but i seriously think this fit is sooo cute. the old-fashion formality is kind of silly but moe in its own way (bro is wearing a cummerbund lol) and the blueberry themed accents really tie it together. not much to add but i really love it. my lil purple fancyboy <3

isagi's fit here is a close third and i was originally going to tie him with reo but my love of purple won out. this one is just solid all around and the light green is a nice color. the necklace is so cunty. however points off for the official merch making yet another attempt to convince me that isagi's image color is green. i will never accept this. i will never cede. look at him he's fucking blue

ok chigiri's fit is walking a fine line here for me. the concept is ADORABLE and i LOVE the strawberry theme but i feel like it would look better on a type of fashion more equipped to handle that kind of whimsy, for example a lolita dress. as it is it is still hugging the serious formalwear theme a bit too closely and so the whimsy ends up looking kind of clownish in that context, it's too goofy, it doesn't fit. kind of a miss for me but love the concept, please go back to the drawing and make it into a dress, let chigiri wear lolita, etc

ok well we can barely see bachira's fit here because of his fuckass pose but it's like, sure, ok, idk. i like the jacket but the pants are really a sticking point. the plaid looks goofy as hell but i guess that goofiness fits bachira but i still would nawt want to wear this. the boots are ADORABLE but tucking the pants into them like this just looks so weird. this is another thing that could have been fixed with feminization because if the plaid pants had been a plaid lolita-style skirt it would have been much cuter AND let the boots shine

INFO DUMP FOR UNIVERSE 11208

This universe doesn't have a Spiderman Instead it has a Prowler. (Which leads to alot more crime since no one is around to stop it)

The symbioties of this universe are huge (Venom is about 8ft tall in his big form and carnage is even bigger big tinner) they also have tails and spikes/horns. They are more animal like and are more intune with the hive mind that spans across the multiverse.

Hobie brown is the prowler of this universe. (Cos we love a evil version of the man I love)

Eddie "spiderman" aka the first Venom but they where doing the whole hero thing until he got hurt and is now in a coma (hence why Vi now has him)

Vi and Eddie dated (which is why he chose Vi to take on Venom, she already knew about him and they had a weird 3 way thrupple going on)

The sister 6 is mostly that same but a little more sinister then silly. (I will desing them at some point)

Symbiotes are a big part of the universe and will show up a lot with and without a host.

The Symbiotes can still have thier own big form even when attached to a host insted of the host wearing them (they are alot more independent, mostly using host as an energy battery)

Norman Osborn is the green goblin and is actually a pretty big threat to the universe they live in.

Since Vi is on a mission to connect all the Vemons to the bigger hive mind she barely spends time in her own universe. So she's got merch of all different spidermen and definitely has favourites since her own universe lacks a proper Spiderman.

A; Vivvian was dating her universes Eddie while he was trying to be the hero the word despretly needed. But in a fight against Carnage (hyped up on goblin toxins) Eddie got hurt and ended up in a coma with a head injury. Peter Parker never got bit he's just a regular dude (tho I'm thinking about making him a carnage host later down the line)

Q; are Vi and Venom connected like Eddie and venom and the movies, or do they are Separated but still Is connected if that makes sense

A; So Venom and Vi are always connected even when he's in his big form separate from her he's connected by atleast one tendril at all times (which means they can't go more then a few meters apart at any given time) but Oh yeah for sure, it's thier biggest weakness. But they work around it and are good at working as a duo. But if Venom ever dose get de attached Vi loses all her powers (she isn't a spider man so she never got bit by a spider, she's only got venom powering her)

a add on from this, Vis biggest draw backs are that 1 she would absolutely die in a fight without venom. 2 the connection (they do have a connection in her DNA so it's hard to disconnect them but one he's not on her…she's kinda helpless) 3 she is strong AF and doesn't hold back bit because she's powering a whole nother person she runs out of energy faster and looses stamina faster then most.

Lucy's Side Quest #5: Manic Drawing session

Big reveal: I'm Merch Chair of my dance team this year! Yayyy!!!

So I feel really lucky to have fallen into this position because the only experience I actually have designing a shirt is once for a club in high school. BUT my confidence in making a banger clothing line is so high. It's giving Dunning-Kruger effect (i.e. where those who have the least experience/knowledge of something have the most ginimonosaurus un-based confidence in their capability). Speaking of, idk why I'm explaining psychology to a bunch of 6-9's and 9.00 fans.

Anyways, I'm back at home because I'm trynna become an american this week and taking the civic exam here in Dallas. There's never anything to do in Texas, because it's so hot outside and my siblings are internet queens, so I just drew a bunch.

Even if it looks silly now, I have this vision of how these designs could look nice mix-matched on t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatpants. Some of the font inspiration is from Tyler the Creator's albums, and in general his Golf Wang brand. I probably should have waited till I created digital versions to post this, but I couldn't wait to share it. I'm a hoe for instant gratification.

I really don't know where I'm going with art. I listened in on the Figma design conference last week, and really thought hard about this 6-3 degree I'm gunning towards. I really want to. Need to. Do something creative in my job. I might go crazy otherwise. Not necessarily design, or dance, or music, or drawing, or writing. I don't know what, which is the problem. Do I just start making hella shirts and portfolios? I might actually start that Youtube channel.

It would be nice to have a mentor/advisor in media, and there must be so many at MIT... just how to reach the right ones?

Gaarmageddon Red Dia from Love Devi !! a card theme was present in an outfit i would die if i didnt draw it. no original masc version cuz it's literally a card wonderland theme so say hi to pathetic pushed over vermilion mayoi. also at this point i was admittedly getting quite pooped from all the drawing so unless i really wanted to see something i just didnt do it lol

Hello ninja association again, no brand for this one cuz it's actually from a merch line so idk if it even exists outside the merch line ?? Which. Lets slow down a bit lemme tell u my shock when i find out that not only is there boypara but theres a ninja idol boy with partially yellow hair ???!?!!?!???! shinobu come pick up ur little bro he's out here performing in a wrestling ring !!!!!! so of course i listen to all the grand total of 2 songs he has and try to find all the images i can of ushimitsu (name of the ninja boy) and find this silly merch line where he gets to work at the ninja monja (which i believe is established as a thing he actually does if the wiki trivia section is to be trusted cuz as i said im nowhere near learning about him thru the show or stage play or whatever)

Aromat Card Aroma from Love Devi !! it looks like the original has tarot cards but a card's a card in my book so they got the symbols. honestly it's mostly just me vaguely tasking inspiration from the original to create my own outfit but whateva im near the end and im having fun and i really liked this one so woohoo !!!! also that dress length is supposed to go to the ankle, it's just scrunched up rn hehe

Moonlight Purple from Baby Monster !! Last one !!!! I think the pripara characters deserve to have bigger hats dam !!! I think this is a very pretty outfit hehehe he's bound to get little shorts like these some day (me hoping and praying) !!!!

tmdk's placement on the upcoming card makes me wonder about the trajectory of both factions, especially post sakura genesis

sorry to tmdk enjoyers but i'm here mainly for the soyboy and his adopted kid, even back in old pwnoah days i wasn't a fan of zacku's lads... i liked JONAH and bad dude tito's presentation a year ago but now tmdk struggles as a whole unit to be relevant... but maybe that could change

comparing how zack got a belt and was presented as a winner out of the gate post-szkg disbandment whereas j4g was on the losing end, based on the results of sakura genesis, we can potentially get these logical storylines:

tmdk = big winners: zsj retains, robbie wins belt from hiromu, both of which i think won't happen, so the next one is...

tmdk = middle of the pack: zsj retains, robbie loses. most plausible sequence at the moment to me unless they really want to give shota a push. a 15 min belt would also give him enough experience without exposing his lack of depth reserved for longer matches... but if zsj loses, it's...

tmdk = back to the drawing board & potential faction feud: honestly this is mad that i'm even implying zacku to lose the belt, i know, i dislike it too but keeping him with the tv title feels like a weight burdening him from taking on grander challenges. as the premier holder of the tv title, he's added his star power and legitimacy to it as well as had some good defenses. if i had it my way, i'd like for him to win another belt on top of it, but this is njpw and unless you're a merch mover, it's highly unlikely they'd give us two belt zachariah sabre jr

so either it'll be option 2 or 3, with a feud with lij as robbie aims for hiromu. personally, if zacku retains over shota, i can see naito challenging for the tv title. njpw loves to use lij popularity to legitimize things.

the field is murky because there is no true heel faction outside of h.o.t. getting boos from the crowd. not to say that we need face/heel always, but that in general njpw wants the heels to be booed, so they might try to see which stables can shift alignments (i.e. okada's total bitchface thing he's got going on lately that i adore. very 2017 rainmaker) so as to not steal momentum.

for example, bullet club has to go violent heel so we don't lose finlay's momentum. reverting to silly club would disrupt debbie-chan's next step into becoming The Leader. personally, i've mentioned that i'd like KENTA and elp to make their own offshoot with other members of bc coming in for bosj and leave bc for a tweener faction, and for finlay to bring in the australian tamashii boys so we can have two flavors of heel: one dedicated to derailing the matches but have the strength to back it up, and another just ready to tear their opponent apart

in that note, j5g cannot go heel. they're literally the found family underdog faction (v. similar to dark order on aew atm ). and have you seen SANADA recently? he trended on twitter every single match he had when he switched up his allegiance. the Japanese fans wanted to see him fired up like this. you would lose the surge of interest he's got going on if he decided to cheat and be dastardly.

with how factions are shaking up, tmdk's alignment could shift more into being heelish as UE is crazy over with the local japanese crowd. the camaraderie UE showed during the njcup has changed a lot of perceptions about the group. the crowd here loves fletcher and dunky's promos backstage are so good as a face.

tmdk is the one that i don't think the crowd has truly clicked with yet and so they could turn heel, but it might mean sacrificing zsj's storyline with ichiban sweet boy fujita. if they go heel, the tutor/student arc would have to then be ~evil~ and that kinda sucks since the beats in that story are wholesome and laid out nicely. one of the few tmdk storylines i find to be paced well, too.

anyway, what i wanted to say was... bring in team filthy. bring in some baddies. destroy chaos

also thinking of writing/drawing stuff thats from her to me, say related to that as we've seen Icys handwriting before in I think BFB 8 (on the buzzer thingy) I've come up with the headcanon that maybe Gatys helped her with her handwriting (as Gaty also just has legs but has good handwriting so I imagine she'd help Icy) so I'll try & then replicate that into these letters & drawings :3

I also need to get a pin/button thingy or something similar to make my own Icy pins as barely any exist so I'll make my own :3

hello!! im alicia, im a teenage girl who is currently on the hunt for commissions, if youre interested 😔 there are two different things coming up soon that id really like money for, that are both really important to me. first and foremost, im going to a convention in late september which some of my all time favorite artist and voice actors are going to—people who’ve shaped my whole childhood, and i feel like this is likely my only opportunity to meet them. but—that takes money! that i dont have. While I do work a job, i won’t be able to get many shifts in prior to the convention because of the way my work’s schedule is, but also because im still a student 💔

Secondly, the hello kitty truck is coming soon to a place I can actually manage to go, and its really important to me i can get cool merch, as silly as that sounds 💔💔 while its just a goofy little cafe, i have been actively trying to make it to one of it’s pop-ups for the last 4 years, checking the website to see its upcoming locations at least once a month throughout this time.

people who know me, know i’ve been very annoying about this since 2020..

so now we’re caught up 😭 this is my last month to start saving! hello kitty is the weekend after next and the convention lands riiight at the end of september. i should have enough money to reasonably enjoy hello kitty (yay! 🎉🥳🎊) but that money being spent there means less money in my bank for the con (nooo 😭😢💔)

and while i understand these are both very silly, fun things that i don’t necessarily need by any means, its Really Important To Me

but getting back on track with commissions,

here are some things i can do!

i have experience in a lot of different types of art. i struggle a few areas (men, notably) (expanded list on my commission website) but i think im pretty good in most other aspects. and, im totally willing to give things im not necessarily practiced in a shot, so don’t let that be a deterrent!

What briefs I am considering

When looking through the variety of different briefs offered on the D&AD New Blood Awards 2023 website (https://www.dandad.org/en/d-ad-new-blood-awards/) I was able to imagine using 3 of them so I noted them down before thinking about what I could potentially do for each of them.

Briefs I have taken interest in:

Duolingo - Demystify math They want to help motivate people to use their app Duolingo math to improve their maths skills. What I could do: - Describe math as a language that can be used universally no matter where you are in the world. - Point out various times in your day where math can be seen around us and how we use it unintentionally, it could also be shown in more humorous scenarios. 

Penguin - In search of merch Penguin wants to create new merchandise to appeal to a Gen Z audience. What I could do: - Create merchandise that would help with peoples online reading experience such as phone cases, headphones, phone stands, other products related to phones. - Relate the process of photo taking to the concept of storytelling e.g. you are the one depicting a story. The merch for this idea would be stuff that would help the process like selfie sticks and ring lights.

Heinz - Gaming - changing food They want to advertise their product as the top choice of food for gamers to use to recharge after gaming or while watching streamers. What I could do: - Make a silly advertising campaign where Heinz products invade your game/server. - Create parodies of existing videogame posters and covers to help draw in a gaming audience to discuss it. By adding humour it would help to reduce any annoyance it could cause. - A series of adverts that encourage gamers to take breaks and refuel so they can go back to gaming feeling more refreshed then before so they can play better. - Depicting various Heinz products as gamers and streamers and using a catchy slogan to help people remember it, this could also be viewed in a humorous light.

What I shall go forward with

Out of the 3 brief I had interest in I believe that there is a single one I would be most willing to go forward with and that is the Heinz one. I would choose this brief as it is the one I can relate more to the work I would want to do in the future and the ideas I managed to come up with were more varied and interesting to me. My next step is to work on my research around the topic and build up a good supply of reference and inspiration that would help improve my work.

Preferred ideas Out of the starting ideas I had I believe that some of them could have been combined together to make some ideas more expansive but my personal favourite is the parodies on existing videogame media. The parodies would help to give the company a more positive and funny image to gamers instead of a more negative one which they could get if they tried to be too preachy and out of touch. The subjects that would need to be chosen to parody would have to be something that most would recognise so looking at trends would be an important part of the research process as you wouldn't want to accidently pick something that no longer has relevancy.
