Its so funny picturing Elden lord Godfrey going through his old closet like we would do in a job interview, except his employer is his wife(ex) lol. He is so hooked on his wife he changed his very core for her.

Okay but like how did the idea for your whole Godfrey AU hit you because it’s GENIUS

Honestly I always had Godfrey as a design since 2019 just because the Riegan lore was so INTRIGUING...and I kept building on it slowly, esp when the Ashen Wolves DLC dripfed me their names and such (iirc before Tiana was the canon name, I hc'd Claude's mom to be named Helena or something)

Then ofc 3HOPES....Golden Wildfire in particular just gave me so many good lore info and AU ideas!! And given how shafted that route is in terms of playable/route-exclusive chars, I really went in on the Godfrey lore by also making a "he actually was alive"-AU. While I do still fear future 3Hopes/Houses content debunking my hcs somehow, it is still free real estate for me now!!! Engage being the new shiny FE also helping me >:)

I stared at Messmer for a very long time (hcs under cut!)

Messmer theories/hcs with a 106 day warranty:

His upper, longer snake is female and called Sevika, while the lower snake is male and called Sevarche.

They were embedded into him when he was young, stunting his spine’s elongation, hence why his limbs are disproportionately longer.

He is bastard son of Marika with Radagon, back when Godfrey was Elden Lord and Radagon was wed to Rennala. Order-wise, he was born after the Omen twins.

Due to the heretical nature of his powers, Marika wanted him gone for good. She sent him on a “quest” in the Land of Shadow, to which his soul departed and his body was left behind. Then, Marika had his body sliced into many pieces which were scattered in mausoleums across the Lands Between (the walking mausoleums we know today). Because of this, he can never return.

When he discovered this fact long ago, he razed the Land of Shadow with his flame. While he is still angry that he was abandoned, he holds a distant hope that if he continues to get stronger and carry out his mother’s bidding, burning those without grace, she may allow him to return.

In his efforts to attain power, he slew all the dragons in the Land of Shadow and ate their hearts. When he did so, his snakes acquired aspects of dragons as well.

He has a fiery temper (pun intended).

He is ambidextrous.

honestly, i think godfrey gwilym could be his friend. hear me out - hed prob hate the absolute heck out of vladimir horngaard, but he'd be able to relate (and have mutual respect) for godfrey. and if that fails, well, itd be at least in an intimate combat/rival kind of bond

if he's hc'ed as not aroace, i think his type would be. well, this sounds insane, but. ireena. listen. someone else here literally has a rahadin x ireena ship thing in their campaign and LET ME TELL YOU. it makes SO much sense. like. if u think about all the ppl rahadin hates, then you compare it to people rahadin tolerates. rahadin would tolerate ireena. so so well. aaah! it feels forbidden but omg. redeemable rahadin x ireena, OR rahadin with an understanding ireena. oh that sounds so cool-

another one rahadin might fit well with is, listen hear me out. but lydia petrovna. I KNOW. it SOUDNS CRAZY but LISTEN. imagine if rahadin protected her, and she was genuinely happy because of him? imagine if she was with someone who didnt force happiness, and instead accepted the bittersweetness of darkness? idk. i needa see it - nJDANSJdn i think rahadin would do well with a neutral/good/positive/gremlin partner, someone who didnt have to mask around him, even if it's the ugly truth.

ALSO. underrated but. rahadin AND PPL'S PCs. i know. this one seems obvious but let me explain. like. rahadin and a PC just fits so easy together since theyre both similar to the gwilym and 'ppl he tolerates' stuff thing well. i believe if someone was allied to strahd, rahadin would tolerate the PC, ths, making them a potential canditate as well!!

aaaa thanks a lot! i like the idea of rufus having a complex relationship with lambert when they're young. like, he's jealous, but it doesn't consume him, so it's mixed with affection and stuff. because of that, lambert doesn't notice his brother's negative feelings at all and even when they are older, he has a hard time recognizing them (while both rodrigue and matthias would). well, that's only my personal hc!

anyway, i found my first drawing of rufus which was in a character sheet for the ocs of my "godfrey didn't die, claude is the second in line" fic:

his face is longer/thinner and eyes bigger lol. i like the definitive version better definitely. red-haired boy is monica's uncle. he's actually an important character in godfrey's back story. while rufus is godfrey's school rival and he still kind of hates him (in a childish way, not in a actual, serious way). they also have a rivalry with ludwig, but the godfrey x rufus one is more visceral (ludwig feels left out and spies on them constantly lol)

now maybe i should draw adult rufus eventually too? who knows, maybe in the future!

My dadfrey hc is that he is honestly the most ACCEPTING chill parent/partner man you can have in the lands in between but like in the most fucked up way. Because he himself is a blood thirsty, genocidal might makes right sigma male, his idea of a "moral-line-we-should-absolutely-not-cross" is astronomically far and thin.

Radagon is Marika? Okay so he has two wives now cool. Radagon marries Rennala? Ok so she wants in too cool. "Slay those groups of completely innocent people for me " "yes babe thank you babe"

Mohg does blood cult and is the king of sh twt? Yes go son slay (I mean he himself is filled with bloodlust). Might even commit a bloody genocide in the name of the formless mother for his son, just another Tuesday for him. The whole 'kidnapping step bro to become his consort and gain power' plan has his head scratching tho. Like..why? What is the need? Just learn his feet smashing technique and he could get there, but oh well

Rykard fed himself to a snake to become a god devouring serpent? He did what he had to do. Ranni killed his son? Yeeeeaa that's sad but he has also killed many sons ya know? *head scratch*. While I like the crossovers of Holmes and Raffles at the time of the Albany, it was the: The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter the one that gave the idea that it was likely Holmes did not know of the existence of AJ Raffles in that time lmao.

Bc Holmes mentions this:

“You live in a different world to me, Mr. Overton—a sweeter and healthier one. My ramifications stretch out into many sections of society, but never, I am happy to say, into amateur sport, which is the best and soundest thing in England. However, your unexpected visit this morning shows me that even in that world of fresh air and fair play, there may be work for me to do.”

To our beloved detective; amateur sport seemed a crime free area and if you consider that together with the fact that Cecil and Godfrey alone seemed to be names to some extent recognized in their own space and Holmes had no idea who they were.

I think you can see where my idea that Holmes simply DO NOT know who is AJ Raffles.

Also 1 year and 5 months or so passes between Holmes' return to life and Gift of the Emperor but The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter is mentioned as happening explicitly in February, so it may take place in February of 1895.

Which leaves Holmes with only 5 months to be introduced to the scenario of "oh boy can there be crime in amateur sport"

In fact I think it must have been kind of funny Holmes' reaction to discover months later that AJ Raffles an amateur cricketer was a thief of some relevance 😭 + bonus points if we follow that famous hc of Raffles was Watson's favorite cricketer so it's him who reads in the paper about how his fav was a criminal and goes like 👁️👄👁️ and Holmes is like buddy are u ok???? before grabbing the paper lol

I bet even when Marika would demonize omens Godfrey would have his sons thoroughly protected by the crucible knights and himself. No way would he just send them off into a sewer.

Also a fun hc for when the omen twins were small babies, Godfrey was the equivalent of a mother bear if the twins got close to anyone or anything dangerous. Just loses his Godfrey composure for a moment and goes full on Hoarah Loux for the protection of his sons. -I bet that Morgott was always the son that really liked books so Godfrey would start looking for all the cool books he can find for his lil bookworm.

HC: The Children of the House of Rys

The Petals and Thornes universe deviates from canon, from TRH onwards. I do keep a few elements (some of the countries and the smaller stories about Eleanor, as well as the growing friendship between Constantine and Godfrey+ Bartie Sr.) but I don't follow the plot at all post TRR3.

Liam and Esther stay busy in various royal engagements and renewing political ties in the first two years, before having their first child. They have 3 children in total, their youngest two being twins.

As parents both are insistent on being as involved as it is possible to be in the roles they have as royals. Both came from backgrounds where one parent was distant for different reasons, and the other was very involved. Both know the importance of having both parents work in tandem to create a happy environment for the children. It takes a few years, but they do get the hang of it.

Crown Princess Sofia/Sofia Eleanor Annelyse Regina Rys:

• Queen Esther's pregnancy with Sofia was a joyful time for the couple, but also brought to the fore past traumas that both Sofia's mother and father had been trying to avoid addressing. Thankfully, they got treatment in time and had a safe, happy birth.

• Her name is a nod to both her father's mothers, and Annelyse is a nod to her godma Hana.

• Liam gives his children Korean names, just like his mother did with him. Sofia's Korean name is Moon Jang Mi, after her father's favourite flower, the rose. (Liam's Hangul name is Moon In-su, and his mother Eleanor's was Moon Eun-ju).

• Sofia takes after her father. She is gentle and compassionate, but also strong-willed and needs a lot of convincing before she can change her mind about something.

• Liam is popular among the farming communities, especially Applewood. Sofia has a lot of goodwill among that community but is a bit more popular among the fisher communities, as she feels a special closeness to the coasts.

• She has been wanting to participate in Council activities since she was a teenager, and knew that as a royal who has significantly more privilege amongst nobility and the commoner section, it is important that she prove her mettle to the members. Later, she will meet the love of her life, Valerie Hawke, in her first years as a Council memeber. Valerie is the daughter of a Lythikan commoner, and since Olivia doesn't have any children she appoints Val as her heir.

• She swears by anything caramel. She has a HUGE sweet tooth.

• Sofia has had a knack for storytelling since she was five. Esther - glad for the chance to impart her English teaching experience at home - actively encourages her in this, including devising exercises to help with her creative writing skills.

• She moves away from writing stories when she's a teenager but her own flair for language definitely makes her a dream to work with when writing speeches and delivering addresses.

• While her mother and father focused on reviving the economy, education and mental health primarily, mental health and cultural revivals is what Sofia gets recognised for as Queen.

• Her nickname is Fifi.

Theo Alexander Isiah Rys/Prince Theo:

• Shares in his sister's creative writing interests, except he is more inclined towards writing fiction and does so under a penname as an adult. However, unlike his sister, he develops this interest later in life.

• Both Theo and his twin brother Phillip are born 3 years after the birth of their elder sister Sofia. Theo's Korean name is Moon Yong Sun and Philip's is Moon Yong Jae.

• One of his middle names, Isiah, is a small nod to Esther's mother Isabelle

• Cannot really wrap his head around politics.

• Is the only grandchild of Eleanor's that is gifted with a guitar. He likes to boast that his singing ability is better than his dad's too (Liam is fine in a chorus but...not great on his own 😂😂)

• He and Philip are of the same age as Hana and Kiara's twins Fleur and Guillaume, and the four could often be seen hanging out of having sleepovers as teens. They're still a tight-knit group even into adulthood.

• He's the only one of the three who doesn't have a nickname. First because his name is short enough, second because he dislikes nicknames for himself.

• He and Guillaume have major crushes on each other as teens, are awkward as HELL about it, and admit to their feelings when they're adults.

Phillip Louis Florian Rys/ Prince Phillip:

• Had a fascination for flip-books as a child

• That is also how he got his nickname in the household - "Flip". For a long time it was the only name he would respond to and by the time he grew out of that phase the name had stuck 🤦🏽‍♀️

• One of his middle names is a tribute to his maternal grandfather.

• Among the three, he is the most accomplished artist. To the immense annoyance of both his siblings and the Lee-Thorne children, he loves the smell of turpentine. Joëlle adores him on sight.

• He also has a special place in his heart for public libraries and secretly does a lot of work to fund and popularize them. The Applewood library is his favourite.

• Consummate tea drinker. Cannot understand his father's love for coffee.

• The rest of the family loves New York, but both Philip and his mom have a special place in their hearts for New Orleans. Because of that, every vacation to America will involve a ride to Louisiana. Loves bananas foster and King Cake.

• Flip meets a young woman from the Blackspine Mountains when he is 24, and it's love at first sight.

Family HCs:

• Family picnics are a regular practice in the royal household, and Esther likes for it to happen in different areas of the country at a time so that the children can familiarize themselves with the landscape of their vast country. Theo always brings his guitar and at night they always sing by a bonfire.

• Languages the royal children pick up - Greek and English are the main ones, as well as Korean from their father and French from their mother. Additionally Fifi takes an interest in Spanish, Theo in Amharic and Fula (encouraged by a family friend who is a Princess of Orphys), and Flip is interested in Japanese.

• Food fights are cathartic. But you'd BETTER clear up at least some of the mess yourself afterwards rather than leave all of that to the palace staff.

People like to hc that godwyn is older than the omen twins and morgott grew up admiring him but i like to think that the twins are older and morgott got glimpses of godfrey's last campaigns.

Also morgott to me is like. And eldest sister brother sister brother (they/them). Godwyn feels very much like a baby to fix the marriage (failure). Mohg ofc is the frustrated middle brother (success).
