His. | Loki x reader smut
I finally the Loki tv show… this does NOT have any spoilers, it’s set on Asgard with a newly appointed king and his coronation gift…

Tumblr media
“Leave any traces of fear in this room.” The command was clear, spoken sharply by a royal attendant.
Your gaze didn’t leave the fragrant water of the bath you knelt in, the attendant taking care to wash every inch of your skin. Other women pulled fluttering silks from a wardrobe, lying it out for you and finding jewelry to match. So much led to this moment, and yet it didn’t seem real — anticipation and anxiety buzzing in your head. You’d been told once already to contain the obvious fear that lingered in your chest, but the daunting task of doing so seemed impossible when your fate was waiting on a silver platter, the moment you left the private chamber you were being bathed in.
“Come, out of the water before your skin wrinkles,” you were hauled to your feet, wrapped in towels and rubbed down by several girls with movements so quick, you were barely left time to react.
Hands massaged your tense limbs, covering them in oils that bloomed with exotic scents, leaving your skin gleaming. At the same time, your hair was fixed, emeralds — his favorite — twisted into the locks and fastening to bare your neck.
“It’s customary to dress her in white,” a handmaiden spoke of you as if you were not there.
“The prince prefers black.” The will of your all-powerful god silenced any protest, everyone moving to do his bidding.
The women fretted — you had to be perfect for him. They prepared you to be presented to the god, as a divine gift to honor the crown prince of Asgard. You were bathed, decorated, and dressed, all to please the god you were gifted to, an expectation that you’d been bred for. It was a great honor to be taken from the hills, to the castle of the gods, to walk amongst the divine, even if it meant your role was to do as your master saw fit, obeying every command. You had come to terms with it, knowing that upon prince Loki’s rise to the throne, you were the sacrifice — the gift — of the kingdom, a promise of good fortune and favor granted in return.
It all seemed like a far-away, distant dream in a future that would never come. Despite that, here you were, relinquishing your whole self to Asgard’s throne. You had never met the god, and never seen him up close. Of course you’d heard the stories, the wrath and prowess of the young prince, and even seen him from a distance — but being in his presence was something entirely new, before being expected to spend the rest of time at his mercy.
Asgardian silk draped over your skin, so light you wouldn’t know it was there. Your decency was concealed beneath expensive black fabric, hiding what was only meant for Loki to see in the moments after this. The handmaidens’ fussing finally ceased, ending the long evening of preparation.
“Come with me, and do as you’re told,” the woman in charge ushered you forward, opening the chamber doors, releasing you out of known captivity into unpredictability.
You swallowed the fear in your throat, steps silent as you followed her to the throne room, the festivities growing louder as you approached your fate. Before you were given a moment to hesitate, you were led into the cavernous room of gold and heavenly magic.
All at once, it fell silent as soldiers escorted you to the throne. There he was — the god himself, draped over his golden throne. Loki was the only one adorned finer than you, a golden helm atop his onyx waves, wild cerulean eyes that bore straight into your soul.
“Your majesty, a gift in exchange for your benevolence,” the ceremony’s representative from your kingdom presented you to Loki, a hand on your shoulder forcing you to kneel before the throne.
A dangerous smile curved the god’s lips, placing his scepter aside as he rose to his feet.
“A very generous gift indeed,” Loki’s lyrical voice wrapped around your throat, stealing the air from your lungs.
He was impossibly tall and lean as he approached you, toned muscles visible even through the heavy layers of leather and gold that adorned his figure. Loki was no mere prince, but a god of mischief, holding an entire world in the palm of his delicate hand. A dark mischief glittered in his eyes, the gorgeous royal leaning down to look closely at you.
He tilted your chin up, looking him directly in the eye, immediately disarmed and vulnerable as you did so. His expression changed almost imperceptibly, gone from his eyes in a flash as he looked away from you, addressing the court who had handed you over.
Your ears were ringing too loudly to hear what he said, your head spinning. A solider moved to guide you to sit at the base of the throne, at Loki’s feet, when you were suddenly snapped back into the present moment.
“You will not lay a hand on what is mine!” Loki’s shout thundered through the chamber, stopping the man before he could touch you.
The soldier quickly fell back, recognizing the lethal danger of disrespecting Loki. An entire room held its breath, the seconds agonizing, exhaling only when Loki motioned for festivities to resume.
Despite the advice to hide your fear, Loki could practical feel your startled fright. Everything else blurred into the background, the celebration entertaining itself, leaving you and Loki at the center of your own universe.
Loki leaned down with an outstretched hand, his expression softening as you met his gaze. He had not yet spoken directly to you, but you didn’t need instruction to place your hand in his, allowing his strength to move you forward. Loki guided you to kneel at his feet as he resumed his place on the throne, slotted between his long legs.
Delicate fingers gently tilted your chin to look up at him, the touch startlingly gentle, a stark contrast to what you’d been warned of.
“There is a long night of festivities ahead, you may rest on me if you grow weary,” Loki granted you permission to lie your head against his thigh, to sink back into the new shelter.
You gave a small nod of understanding, looking back down as his attention was demanded from another round of celebration.
Despite the dizzying commotion of Loki’s ceremony, your limbs became heavy and keeping your eyes open was a losing battle. Loki peered down at you as you slowly laid your head against his leg, letting your exhausted body rest for the first time.
A fierce desire to protect you swelled in Loki’s chest, suddenly cross with the noise and lights that combatted your sleep. As he continued to entertain offerings of exotic fruits and tributes from his kingdoms, Loki moved a leg in front of you, glaring at anyone who so much as looked too long in your direction.
He couldn’t imagine how drained you were, to sleep through the chaos. Your weight rested against his leg, though you didn’t let yourself fully drift into deep sleep, some part of you making sure that you were upright, not wanting to displease him.
Loki carefully supported you as he stood, lifting you off the floor with godly strength. The festivities continued without him — kings, gods, and valkyrie reenacting stories of battles and playing with magic in the great halls.
He’d had quite enough of the noise and empty affection, and desired nothing more than some quiet time alone with his offering.
“Careful,” he warned softly as you began to stir, strengthening his grip to keep you from falling.
“M’sorry,” you mumbled, your first words spoken in a haze of exhaustion.
“It’s alright, you’re free to rest,” Loki laid you down on his bed the moment you entered the privacy of his chambers.
Golden floors were etched in sweeping illustrations of history and mythology, telling the stories of your god beneath the bed draped in dark green silks. Huge doors opened to a veranda, a summer breeze ruffling the curtains, allowing glimpses of glittering astronomy overhead.
Your mind yearned to stay awake, to learn your surroundings and stay vigilant in the presence of Loki. Despite that, your body screamed for sleep, sinking into the soft bedding he had placed you on.
.
Loki watched you sleep.
Exhaustion kept your body rigidly still, not moving once the entire night. You stayed curled up in the very corner of the expansive bed, out of reach of Loki, who eventually took his place as the sun cracked the horizon.
The only indication you were real, was the gentle rise and fall of your back as you breathed. As you slept, the frightened expression vanished from your face, softening the your features. Loki couldn’t take his eyes off of you, studying your almost peaceful face.
Loki drifted in and out of sleep, not bothering to wake you after such a late and overwhelming night. You must have been weary, because you couldn’t have been comfortable, making yourself as small as possible at the very edge of the bed, not wanting to take up too much of Loki’s space.
You slowly opened your eyes, sunlight streaming in through the open veranda. The morning seemed impossibly peaceful, despite waking up into a new life of servitude. This didn’t feel like what you’d expected — waking up in a comfortable bed with the warm sun on your face, the scent of breakfast wafting from a huge spread on the chamber’s dining table.
“Good morning, darling,” Loki’s voice was much softer in the privacy of the chambers, without an audience.
You sat up, looking over as he stood from a couch, setting aside a novel. He was more relaxed, wearing loose black linen, his hair tied up loosely.
“Hi,” you whispered, at a loss for words — partially in awe of how gorgeous he was, and partially cautious, as if he were a cobra waiting to strike at any wrong move.
He watched as you observed your surroundings, inspecting your golden cage in the light of day. Loki’s chambers were beautiful, bright, and serene. It seemed so divorced from the perception you had of the god before being let in to the most private part of his existence. Loki moved smoothly throughout the room, delicate hands attached to a lean, muscular body. Loki’s face was sculpted out of marble, so stunningly beautiful it left you breathless. Green eyes pierced straight into your soul, laid bare when he looked at you.
“Eat something,” he gestured to the feast at the table, as if he were the devil, offering food to a goddess to keep captive in his lair forever.
It was your job to obey, your body moving before your mind even considered protest. The shimmering gown you were wearing the night before swept the floor as you walked, Loki admiring how beautiful you were, even slightly disheveled.
You hesitantly took a berry from the table, bringing it to your lips, licking the sweetness off your fingertips. The sight stirred something inside of Loki, his gaze focusing on the contours of your body that were visible through the just-sheer parts of the fabric draped over you.
“Master?” You could feel the weight of his gaze, invisibly drawing you to him.
Loki stepped toward you, pleased as you sank to your knees without any encouragement, easing into his submission. You wanted it, needed it, like your lungs needed air. A shimmer of green made your clothing disappear, baring you fully to Loki’s intoxicated gaze.
“Look at you, fit for a god,” he praised, slowly circling you as you kneeled, appreciating you from every angle.
“Only for you, master.”
“Loki,” he permitted you to call him by name, a request that pulled the corners of your lips up with small satisfaction.
The floor was cold beneath your knees, and your skin began to prick beneath a cool breeze from the veranda. Loki swelled over the recognition that you were his, and his alone. He was hard in the loose linen pants, eager to claim full ownership of you in such an intimate way. You willingly surrendered to him, practically desperate for him to take you, to consummate your submission to the god.
Your hands smoothed up the solid muscles of Loki’s thighs — limbs you wish to be bent over — before clutching the linen waistband and dragging down his trousers. The sight of him hung heavy made your mouth water and your cunt throb, desire swirling in your belly.
“Go ahead. Touch me as you please, I’m as much yours as you are mine,” Loki murmured, realizing you were waiting for permission, to do as you were told.
Long fingers wove into your hair, cradling the side of your head, pulling only slightly as you licked the tip of his cock, sending a shock up his spine.
He leaned back against the wall, smirking as your left palm flattened over his toned abs to brace yourself, pleased that you were trusting his words.
“Gods,” Loki swore when you took him in your mouth, letting him push you down until he was filling your throat.
Pretty tears welled at your lashes at his size, your throbbing need beginning to smear between your thighs. Your free hand worked what you couldn’t fit in your mouth, your tongue dragging up his shaft. He was both long and thick, his skin like velvet on your tongue. It was a feat to take even half of him in your mouth, and you moaned and the thought of him fucking you, and how you’d beg to take it all.
“If worshipping my cock makes you wet enough to drip on my floor, I’ll let you do it every morning,” Loki purred with a grin, clearly taking notice of the effect he had on your body.
“Please,” you whimpered respectfully, dragging your fist up his length, giving your mouth a break.
“I’m close, darling, you’re doing beautifully,” he praised, watching your thighs squeeze together at his words.
“I want to come in that gorgeous mouth, feel myself in your throat.”
You tilted your head back just a bit, both to gaze up into his eyes and to let him in deeper. A low whine vibrated around his cock as his hand wrapped around your throat, gently squeezing.
“Fuck,” Loki hissed, spilling over into your mouth, filling your senses with his salty taste.
“Swallow it,” Loki commanded, and you were all too willing to obey, wanting to please him.
His thumb swiped over your lips, cleaning up the bit of mess he made, kneeling in front of you as you both caught your breath.
“Was that okay?” the question slipped out before you could stop yourself, puzzling Loki.
“Of course, it was perfect. Haven’t you done it before?”
“No, I’ve been kept pure for you,” you answered, earning a profane string of Norse as his dick twitched.
“You’ve made me insatiable,” Loki pressed a quick, messy kiss to your mouth that was interrupted by a knock at the door.
“No!” Loki shouted, standing up, displayed in his full glory to the guard who opened the door.
The furious god stood in front of you, blocking any eyes from catching even a glimpse of your body.
“Get out, now, or I shall have your eyes torn out!” Loki thundered, fiercely possessive over you.
“I’m so sorry, your highness. Odin has called on you—”
A sharp burst of Loki’s magic sent the man flying backward with a yell, the door slamming shut behind him.
“I’m sorry-” you began, as if you needed to apologize for being nude.
“I will never let anyone else touch you, see your body, or covet what is mine.”
A warmth spread through you at the words, taking his hand to stand up. He took a cloth, carefully cleaning you up, before guiding you into a closet that was full of the finest Asgardian fabrics.
“We’ll continue this later, darling, but for now, you’ll accompany me on whatever nonsense I’m being summoned for,” Loki explained, moving to dress himself as he left you to choose what maids had left for your arrival.
You chose green, pleasing the god as you adorned his colors, another sign of your growing devotion. Loki kissed your wrist, before a band of gold appeared in a shimmer, bringing a smile to your face.
He wordlessly led you out of his chambers, a hand at the small of your back. Being with him was intense — but the castle and all of its people was overwhelming. You found yourself leaning into Loki’s side, away from the noise of shouting and chaos of the everyday happenings.
He looked up from the throne to see what was bothering you before pulling you to sit between his legs where you could sink back into him and ignore the noise.
“We’ll leave as soon as I’m finished. Until then, you can entertain yourself by picturing what I’m going to do to your precious little pussy,” Loki whispered against the side of your face, gently nipping your ear.
You shuddered against his chest, feeling him chuckle beneath you as his arm tightened on your waist. Warmth flushed your cheeks and you turned your face into his arm, shy at the filthy words from Loki. He could feel your heart racing inside your ribs, anxious to tear the emerald gown from your body.
You were lost in your thoughts when Loki banished everyone from the expansive throne room, giant doors embedded with gemstones slamming shut, sealing you alone with him.
“Now, where were we?” Loki asked, mouthing hot kisses along your neck and shoulder.
“I believe you were about to fuck me, Loki,” you chirped.
“I love hearing those dirty words on your lips, all for me.”
“Only you,” you promised, closing the gap as he hovered above you.
The kiss was heady, his tongue warm and dominating as he pushed it past your lips. The sensation nearly distracted you from his hands, that were tearing the fabric around your torso, letting it flutter to the floor in shimmering pieces.
“I’m going to fuck you here, on this throne, like a proper king.”
You parted your legs, letting his hand drop between them. Loki smirked into your neck as he cupped your sex, feeling how wet you were, desperate for him as heat radiated from your center.
He didn’t bother to turn you over, perfectly happy to fuck you while you were on top of him, lying on his chest as he sat upon his throne. He glided his cock along your wet lips, only a moment until you were squirming with desperation.
He wanted to hear you beg, but even he couldn’t wait any longer, slowly sinking into you, every inch stretching you impossibly further. The sweet sting made you cry out, your head dropping back on his shoulder when he nestled himself fully inside you.
“You’re perfect for me,” Loki praised through gritted teeth, fighting not to slam into you like an animal. He could feel your walls throbbing around him, muscles burning as they were forced to take the stretch to fit him inside — and you loved it.
You doubted anything would ever feel so good, until his hips started to roll forward, the god fucking you deep and slow, holding your body against his chest. He buried his face in your shoulder, soaking up your squeals of pleasure as he lost himself in you.
Before he even thought to play with you, your cunt began to clench around him with an impending orgasm. Your startled whimper shot straight to Loki’s dick, and he fucked you harder, unable to help himself.
“Come around me, darling, let me know how good you feel,” Loki urged, nearly spilling into you as you trembled in his arms, coming with a scream that echoed off the walls.
“There you go,” he murmured, twitching before he filled you with his seed, painting your insides with him.
Your breaths were ragged and uneven, mind completely foggy in the aftermath. He breathed in your scent as he stayed inside you, preserving the moment for as long as possible.
“I’m yours, forever,” you whispered, as if reading his mind.

bts fanfics i personally think shakespeare would lose his job over in the 1500’s.
Tumblr media
chapter i. ✷ chapter ii.
Tumblr media
KEYS ON SEVERITY OF SHAKESPEARE’S STATE:
( ✮ ) — poor sod is on the floor. perhaps it’s shock?
( ♬ ) — he’s jealous he didn’t write this himself. well, it sucks to suck, mate.
( ✎ ) — currently handing him a tissue. give him a second.
( ♛ ) — both him and i lost our jobs. her majesty is ruthless.
Tumblr media
THE SHAKESPEARE SERIES.
WARNING: keep in mind, some of these authors are very strict on the rule that no minors should read their work if they’re underage, and i will honour that. but, at the end of the day, i am not your parent. so, there’s that. but heed my warning wisely. any smut or 18+ content is highlighted in bold.
NOTE: without further ado, this are the fanfics that i think would cause shakespeare to lose his job: the first of many essays. let’s bring the guy to his knees. metaphorically.

( ♛ ) THE BODYGUARD — by @rmnamjoons
!! bodyguard!namjoon x reader | 62.9k !!
bodyguard au, romance, smut, fake dating, slight angst if you squint, lil bit of violence.
firstly, we’re starting off strong. i present to you, the mother of all namjoon fanfics. and she’s a bad bitch. tbh, i feel like this fic needs a moment of silence just to relish in her glory. soak it all up. it’s essential.
this fic genuinely had me gobsmacked at how incredibly written it is. it delves into every detail and no aspect of the story is left dry. you can tell the author put their everything into creating this world you just submerge into. and it shows.
the world building is amazing, the characters are so thought out, and it feels like you’re just on this adventure with them and discovering their story as it plots out.
also, the build up to the smut? out of this world. that’s one thing i love about this fic: it doesn’t feel rushed. everything is very spaced out and takes it’s sweet time, so when you get to the chocolately nut of the ferrero rocher, it’s like gold and well earned. and you can enjoy it.
honestly, it’s been months since i read this and i think about it every day. i did do some research (for my own peace of mind) and this fic is longer than the perks of being a wallflower. and is it better? yes. sorry not sorry.
this work of art deserves to be read and loved. and i rest my case, your honour.
( ✎ ) UNTIL THE LAST STAR FALLS — by @minniepetals
!! underworld lords!bts x shield!reader | 44.4k !!
reincarnation!au, poly!au, gods!au, unrequited love, minor character death, car accidents.
quick question — for science — how does one happen to lose all their memories without any sustaining any internal or external injuries? because the things i would do to read this again for the first time. and i do not use those words lightly.
this was my first ever ‘longer’ written fic. and if i’m being honest, i never really liked to read them because i have the attention span of a goat. but this fic lures you in from the very start and time slips away like smoke. to say, it definitely left its mark on me.
it’s so brilliantly written and you feel connected to the characters both mind and soul. you want the best for them, you want to save them, you actually want to crawl into the pages (or screen) and fucking help them out. and that sold it to me, i think. just the sheer love for these characters.
i balled when i read the last few sentences. i didn’t want it to end. i think i finished it at three in the morning and sent a voice note of me crying to my friend. tmi? well, now on my christmas list is 7 hot boys in the underworld who would risk their everything for me. and i, them.
worth every single second. trust.
( ♬ ) WARM THIS WINTER — by @jamaisjoons
!! seokjin x reader ft. ex-boyfriend jungkook | 51.6k !!
christmas!au, vacation!au, angst, fluff, smut (18+).
one thing about solaris, is she never misses. if i could, i think i’d recommend every fanfic she ever put out, but that’s too much effort for me when you could simply click her masterlist. so, i’ll wait here for you to do that. make sure you come back though.
love. sure, there are hundreds- perhaps, thousands of fics on this app about it. so what makes this one different? well, that’s just it. the sorrowful honesty of love. knowing when it’s over, and when it’s blooming in the midst.
i’ve never been in love, but frankly, this fic really spelt it out for me. the pain, the joy, the lingering memories after everything is said and done. it’s all there. and it really settles in your heart as you near the end.
this work pulled on every single heartstring of mine, stamped on them, and then proceeded to sew anew for the future to bring its own miseries. and i enjoyed it more than i can say (or type).
give this a read if you need just that bit of spark in your life. and that bit of sadness, too.
( ✮ ) STRIKE A CHORD — by @snackhobi
!! yoongi x reader | 15.8k !!
smut (18+), pianist!yoongi.
i don’t know what it is about this fic, but i come back to it whenever it pops up in my mind during my day. i’ll immediately unlock my phone and open this app, knowing i’ll feel better when the last word is read. and i feel content.
the atmosphere in this fic, if i may, feels as though you’re trapped in a warm, safe bubble with hazed music in the distance and soft light spilling through the thin layer of the bubble— not too dark, but enough to make you feel drowsy and peaceful. perhaps that’s why i return to it so often. i like how it makes me feel.
yoongi as an artist is already enough to make a person swoon, but as a pianist? i need a lie down. a cold towel to the head. just the whole characterisation of him in this fic needs a whole separate essay in itself, but you’ll understand my point when you read it.
forever a comfort fic, i think. and forever a comfort person. double whammy. case closed.
( ✎ ) THE END — by @jimlingss
!! seokjin x reader | 31k !!
fifty percent fluff, fifty percent angst, loosely inspired by to all the boys i’ve loved before.
i say this with my whole chest: i have never underestimated the amount of emotions you can experience during a fanfic, until i read the end— both literally and metaphorically. shock horror.
this fanfic takes you through the adventure of the reader learning of what her future would commence if she were to marry either one of the six members. best part? she’s led through this rollercoaster journey by the ghost of kim seokjin.
first impression to such an offer? sign me the fuck up. i mean, what more could you ask for? however my final impression went a bit more on the lines of what the fuck just happened. very different ends of the spectrum, if you ask me.
i decided to hand both shakespeare and i a tissue after this great piece of art was finished because not only was i sobbing, he was on the floor knowing his romance play of pericles could never live up to such an incredible story.
this fic was a rollercoaster i would be delighted to get onto for another ride.
( ✎ ) A UNIVERSE TO YOU — by @readyplayerhobi
!! soulmate!hoseok x reader | 41k !!
fluff, angst, smut (18+), soulmates!au.
shakespeare once said (according to google), “it is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves,” and if this fic wasn’t a soulmate!au, i think i would’ve agreed in some sorts. but as it is, in fact, a soulmate!au, i’m obliged to disagree. it was destiny i read this fic, hand on heart.
i was not expecting this fic to hit me in the feels as hard as it did. as you can tell by the other works listed in this essay of recommendations, soulmate!au’s come up a lot. and with a lot of the same plots flying around on this app, it’s hard to make one stand out. but this author definitely has a gift.
everything was so richly created it made you feel full. of wonder, of love, and of want. it made you crave it for yourself. and that’s what i love about this fic. it just makes you feel… good. and with the unfortunates of life currently, it’s one to get your head stuck in for some temporary relief.
dream soulmate? he’s right here, people. just enjoy the story and all the feels that float around your body. go on.
( ✮ ) BUNNY — by @btssmutgalore
!! jungkook x fem!reader | 46.5k !!
non-idol!au, camboy!jk, friends to lovers, smut, angst.
let’s start here: never judge a book by its cover. a quote by george eliot going all the way back to the 19th century, and one i would use to describe this series as a whole, and my first impressions towards it.
this series, although unfinished (i think), has exceeded my expectations of a good smut outlined by a good plot. the best of both worlds, if you might. i came out of this series deeply in awe of the writing and the clear imagery the author manages to create within your own mind.
additionally, bunny was the beginning for me in learning about the world of camboys and camgirls(?), but i was greatly surprised. often, people are unkind to the new and stick to what they’re accustomed to, afraid of what the unknown might bring — me, included.
but, i’m glad i took the risk because i received three great things in return: a beautiful fanfic, knowledge of something that was foreign to me, and an author whose work i admire and shall be returning to in the future.
perhaps what i’m getting at is this could be a lesson to all. take a risk of something unknown because who knows? maybe something great will come out of it, and you’ll learn something. i did.
( ♬ ) SEOUL UNDERGROUND — by @hunniejimins (ao3)
!! namjoon x jungkook x f!reader | 300k !!
mafia!au, enemies to lovers, violence, slow burn, love triangles, mob boss!namjoon, smut, heavy angst.
it’s ironic really. i found this work by someone else’s recommendation, and now i’m passing on the favour and recommending it to you, dear reader. it’s funny how the world works.
this work is the perfect balance of fantasy and reality and i love it. you’re hit with the beauty and clouded haze of love before being smacked back into the world at the realisation the very person you’re in love with, is a mafia mob boss and his killer mate. a real fun-sponge, i tell ‘ya.
nevertheless, this book kept me up early morning and late evening reading. it keeps you hooked, wanting, and hungry for more.
it’s nothing less of a masterpiece.
( ✎ ) CREAM AND SUGA — by @snackhobi
!! yoongi x barista f!reader | 14.8k !!
coffee shop!au, barista!au, fluff, nfsw (18+).
@snackhobi is mentioned twice on this list. though, can you blame me? it’s just a good thing shakespeare and this author don’t exist in the same century. it would be absolute carnage but nobody is ready for that conversation.
this author has a talent of portraying yoongi in the most irresistible way possible. i swear, i fall in love with him all over again reading. i wish you understood.
the whole misunderstanding section made me laugh because haven’t we all been there? the crushing pain and overwhelming guilt of having a crush on someone you can’t have. it’s all too real, seriously. been there, done that (unfortunately).
especially having the holidays just past, this is a perfect fic for a warm evening in, while the coldness of winter storms past outside. such a cute fic. love, love, love!
( ♛ ) LOST AND FOUND — by @taleasnewastime
!! seokjin x reader | 21.2k !!
strangers to lovers, fluff, angst, sfw.
everyone says they have a fanfic that changed them, whether they’re being hyperbolic or brutally honest. and in my case, it’s a matter of both latter and former.
a couple months ago, i reached what i thought was rock bottom regarding my mental state and i took to my imagination to save me from the daily hell of my own mind. and this book was one i never really forgot about.
everything this author wrote within this fic was honest, heartfelt and very, very real. from the way you don’t just go up after going through something, but fall occasionally and sometimes feel as though you’re back at square one, to the way that there definitely is hope in the dark moments, and a light at the end of the tunnel. albeit a very faint one.
it comforted me in a way and reminded me of what i thought to be lost. fruitless, even. but sometimes, it’s books like these that open our eyes to things we’ve forgotten during times of turmoil: the simple goodness of life. and of people.
“if you’re going through hell, keep going.” winston churchill.
( ✮ ) CANDYLAND — by @honeymoonjin
!! seokjin x reader ft. elf!jk | 13k !!
thriller, angst, fantasy, husband!jin, some cursing.
my mother is the biggest thriller fan. not that you needed to know that, but she is. and she’s not ashamed of it either. she’ll let you know if she’s reading a really good thriller in the moment. trust me, you’ll know.
me? not so much. i’m more of a sappy, hopeless romance, happy ending kind-of-sod — if you haven’t already guessed from this list. but there’s a reason this fic is on the list, too.
this fic genuinely kept me on the edge of my seat- uh, bed. the secrets of what darkness lingered behind the happy exterior of this adventure trip gripped my eyes to the screen, and lord, was it worth it.
throw a bit of husband!seokjin in there too? what more could you want! and written by @honeymoonjin? what a win.
let’s just say after this fic i added a few other thrillers to my basket. and happily reported to my mum i was a changed woman. okay, i’m exaggerating, but you get my point. it was incredible.
( ✎ ) LILY LUCK — by @gguksgalaxy
!! yoongi x reader | 10.7k !!
soulmates!au, angst, fluff if u squint, very slight implicit sexual content, anxiety.
although this fic may be the shortest on the list, do not underestimate its power. it is still as mighty as the others— perhaps, even more so.
i think the main emotion i want to hone into concerning this fanfic is compassion. it sinks into your bones and surrounds your entire being like a unwanted hug. and you can’t even stop it.
the author does a good job of making you feel intense compassion for the reader — who so desperately wants to meet her soulmate. which makes the ending that much more satisfying.
this is for those who’re lonely, need a pick up, or those who’re hopeless romantics and believe in love belonging to fate, such as myself.
“expectation is the root of all heartache.” william shakespeare. talking of the devil, he would definitely cry over this fic. either of bubbling emotions, or the fact he didn’t write it himself. sucks really. for him, not for me.

RA ∆.∆∆ Talon Abraxas
A HYMN TO RA, WHEN HE RISES IN THE EAST.
Hail, thou Aten, thou lord of rays, who risest on the horizon day by day! Shine thou with thy beams of light upon the face of the Osiris Ani, the truth-speaker, who sings hymns to thee at dawn, and adores thee at eventide. Let his soul appear with thee in heaven. Let him sail out in the Matet Boat and arrive in port in the Seqtet Boat, and let him cleave his way among the stars that never vanish.
Homage to thee, O Her-aakhuti, who art Khepera, the self-created!
When thou risest and sendest forth thy beams upon the lands of the South and the North, thou art beautiful, yea beautiful, and all the gods rejoice when they see thee, the King of Heaven.
Nebt-Unnut (a goddess) is on thy head, her serpents are on thy head, and she takes her place before thee. Thoth stands in the bows of thy boat to destroy thy foes.
The denizens of the Tuat (Underworld) come to meet thee, they bow before thee in homage at the sight of thy Beautiful Form.
I would come before thee daily to be with thee and to behold thy Beautiful Aten (Disk). Let me be neither prevented nor repulsed.
Grant that when I look upon thy beauties my members may be made young again, even as are the members of thy favoured ones.
I am one who worshipped thee on earth. Let me enter the Eternal Land in the Everlasting Country. O my Lord, I beseech thee to decree this for me.
Homage to thee who risest as Ra on thy horizon and restest upon Maat!
Thou passest over the sky, every face watches thy course, thou thyself being unseen. Thou showest thyself at dawn and at eve daily.
The Seqtet Boat of thy Majesty goes forth mightily, thy beams fall upon every face, thy variegated lights and colours cannot be numbered, and cannot be told . . . .
One by thyself alone didst thou come into being from the primeval waters of Nunu (or Nu).
May I go forward as thou dost advance without pause, and dost in a moment pass over untold leagues and as thou sinkest to rest even so may I.
Thou art crowned with the majesty of thy beauties, thou dost fashion thy members as thou dost advance, and dost produce them without the pangs of labour in the form of Ra, and dost rise up into the heights.
Grant that I may come into the everlasting heaven and the mountain where thy favoured ones dwell. Let me join myself to those who are holy and perfect in the divine Underworld, and let me appear with them to behold thy beauties at eventide. I lift my hands to thee in adoration when thou the living One dost set. Thou art the Eternal Creator and art adored at thy setting in heaven.
I have given my heart to thee without wavering, O thou who art the mightiest of the gods . . .

it's easy to ferry souls, not carry them
Tumblr media
deep down in the realm of the netherworlds, there exists a rower who transports deceased souls from the land of living to the land of dead-
and occasionally lends an ear and a hand, in the event of yet another collision between their weary queen and her just as cheery suitor...
[uraume deserves a raise.]
Tumblr media
▸gojo satoru x fem!reader; the tale of kore!gojo & hades!reader w a guest appearance by charon!uraume; uraume is a very nice parental figure to you [ooc!uraume but ehh]; the reader is honestly so sweet and hot-tempered...; the cutest doggy cerberus too is there!!!!; gojo satoru must be his own warning...; uraume does not like gojo [no parent [blood-related or not] actually wld]; fire hazards; 2k wc
▸ i've nvr read percy jackson and wtv i wrote here is based on my shaky knowledge of greek myths and stuff 😁😁 anyways, this header's from pinterest, these dividers are by @benkeibear and the characters used ain't mine. pls do not plagiarize, translate or repost this. enjoy reading! ❤️
▸ belongs to series 'wreaths of asphodel' – same universe as the work 'hey, where is the pomegranate tree?' — but you can treat this as a stand-alone fic if you wanna!
Tumblr media
"why is kore so set on marrying me, uraume?"
it isn't the ask itself which causes the rower to nearly lose grip of their oar– but the way it is spoken: soft, solemn and faintly tense. they look away from the endless expanse of the styx before, to find you staring at your reflection in the inky waters, features unnaturally crumpled.
uraume holds back a frown. "has her majesty considered asking the god the same?"
"i have asked him," you mumble, "but i did not receive any conclusive answer in return. the imp was being too vague– must be a trait learnt from those shifty nymphs always sticking to his side."
if your faithful follower detects anything except dislike in your words, they make no mention of it. merely humming as they continue to row the boat, "and may this servant know the question her majesty asked the god?"
"two," you mumble even more clumsily now; they take a beat to grasp it, too concerned by the way you drape yourself over the edge, nearly falling into the water as you say, "i asked him two questions— one, if he loves me; two, if he wants to have children should we get married."
shock must not be uraume's first reaction to these queries, yet it is— and for a moment, it isn't you sitting there anymore.
instead, it is a little girl, no older than seven or eight years, cherubic face fixed in a look of deep concentration and fascination while the rower narrates to her stories from times millennia ago–
only for the child to morph into a young lady– no, goddess– the very next beat... slouched under a regal cloak too heavy for her shoulders, under a royal crown too large for her head... that sweet innocence of childhood nothing but traces now, having been withered by the foul, dirty politics of those damned deities high up on that mountain—
"what answers did the olympian offer her majesty?"
"he said he would love me and sire my children if that is what i want— i asked if he wished anything out of our union— he said all he wanted is to be my husband–"
something between a frustrated sigh and an exhausted scoff erupts from you, becoming an opaque fog the moment it hits the frigid air of the underworld. uraume plucks the oar out the water to come sit next to you, letting the boat be driven by magic.
"you're worried," they state, forgoing all formalities in favour of giving you some much-needed comfort. you never much cared for stations anyways, quite unlike your elder brother, the former king.
"an unfamiliar friend poses more risk than a familiar enemy, uraume," you mutter, resting your head on their shoulder, "why do you think kore wishes to marry me so much, if not out of love or the prospect of the powerful offsprings we might beget?"
"marriage is not solely for love or for procreation," the rower starts to explain, mildly amused before it grows into sympathy at your baffled expression.
ah, they muse fondly, not unlike a parent watching their child witness the world seemingly the first time ever since they learnt to walk, you who presides over something as profound as death yet knows not of the trivialities of life...
"it can also be for many other reasons like–"
the remainder of the words skitter away from uraume— cerberus is playing with gojo.
the fierce guard of the netherworlds, the three-headed hound, loyal and dutiful to a fault: hades' dearest canine companion is frolicking with the god of life in a green meadow, that most certainly was not there so close to the stygian marsh, when they last—
"gojo is laughing," your remark draws them away from their musings, only to find a changed shadow over your countenance— pensive yet not thinking at all; almost as if you too are floating in the stale air of your kingdom akin the soft flower petals...
another ring of raucous laughter pierces the silence, mingled with a delighted series of barks— cerberus is busy licking gojo's face now, the olympian reduced to a puddle of giggles as he scratches behind the dog's ears.
his happiness so clear in the stretch of his grin and the crinkle of his eyes, very much the jarring contrast to the last time—
oh. oh, oh, oh–
"escape," the word leaves uraume in a sudden moment of realisation, as quiet as a breath but loud enough for you to whip your head back to face them, confusion engraved into your scowl. "escape?? what is that supposed to mean, eh?"
the rower feels their lips lift into an infrequent smile. "the god of life wishes to marry you to escape— from his mother, or from his many suitors, or perhaps from mount olympus itself."
"wha– how– hah," you breathe out a disbelieving little huff, "that is simply ridiculous. have you even heard yourself? that is ridiculous."
used to such resistance from yourself, even more from your brother, they move to state their points, only to beaten by you as you persist to speak.
"no one in their right mind will decide to come live in the underworld, no matter how overbearing their mother or insistent their suitors are. have you seen this place? it's too, too unlike the lushness of the earth or the grandeur of the heavens he has experienced. and–" you add, a harsh laugh accompanying it. "gojo satoru is a god. a fish might leave the water— but a god never steps a voluntary foot down that horrible mountain. never."
"but the olympian never truly lived on mount olympus," uraume says once they're sure you've completed your tirade, "and you are a goddess as well. why do you speak so ill of the heavens then?"
"why?" you echo the word. they nod, hoping you take the bait they've intended for you. you do.
"why, because that place is nothing but a shining apple with a rotten core!! everything is polished marble and glittering gold there. people constantly wave at each other, lavishing smiles and praises like there is no tomorrow. everything is so warm and bright— what a bunch of lies and liars!"
familiar fire burns in your aura, the immense heat making the waters erupt into boiling— uraume uses their powers to cool the river down, lest anything disturbs you.
you're too far gone in your rage to be shaken, however, continuing:
"but it never can hide the grime and dirt accrued beneath such shine and sheen. nor the vicious minds and crooked hearts of those deities up above– what lame excuses of gods and goddesses, hah. and you might think me to prefer the light and warmth up there— you will be sorely wrong, my dear uraume!! i much prefer the genuine darkness and frigidity of my beloved kingdom to the faux comfort of the awful mount olympus—"
"is there no possibility the god of life too despises mount olympus for these same reasons, milady?"
you open your mouth and close it, then open it again to let out a very aggrieved whine– momentarily transporting uraume to your younger days. the rower merely chuckles when you punch their arm lightly.
"you're the worst, uraume," you cry, getting up and moving to sit on the other end of the boat. the rower too rises but only to resume rowing the boat by the oar.
"you never spoke this way when sukuna was the ruler— only because his baby sister is the ruler now, and you think she is very stupid—"
"as much as i respect and revere lord sukuna, he wasn't one to listen to anyone else," uraume interrupts gently, "you do, though– which is why i spent so much time telling you this. i hope you did not mind."
"hey, no," you immediately wave away their concern with a wide grin, eliciting a smaller one from the latter, "i could never..."
another peal of laughter and barks rings through the otherwise-quiet. you abruptly trail off, the same conflicting expression from before on your face yet again. though not without a spark in your eyes, uraume notes, almost as if you're slowly learning how to solve the puzzle who is repeatedly offering himself to you.
uraume keeps the silence you initiate, choosing to row the boat while you keep staring at the assortment of hues near the stygian marsh...
until you call their name and declare, an odd firmness in your smile, "well then, it is decided. i shall allow gojo to stay here for as long as the god so wishes to, escaping whatever or whoever he is escaping. and i shall protect him from the latter, should it ever come for him."
a beat. your smile falls into something graver. "would it be better if i swore by the dread water of styx, uraume?"
"uh, um," the rower finds themselves at a loss of words, the first time in seemingly forever, and they have been around since titanomachy– but before they can recover themselves enough to formulate a proper reply, a giggly voice joins in—
"well, if my rose does that, i would consider myself the most blessed amongst all mortals and immortals!"
— and the waters surrounding the boat shoot upwards in a scathing geyser-like jet and steam— the ferocious queen of the netherworlds visibly torn between remorse and terror, as they offer uraume a stiff nod and gojo a horrified look, before vanishing in a wisp of fog.
the boiling waters of the river styx calm down only after a twenty-minute-long struggle by uraume, joined at the very end by gojo.
the latter looks positively delighted, when the former collapses to the bottom of the boat, exhausted beyond belief. "hey, charon. was that a result of your queen getting flustered by me, huh?"
yes, it was. it very much was, the sentences nearly slip past the tired rower's crumbling defences... until it hits them– who they serve, and who they don't.
uraume decides to throw back a glare and a lie. "her majesty was not flustered, lord kore. she was enraged at how you invaded the privacy of her weekly boat ride, intended to make her relax."
"oh, puh-lease," the god makes a face. the rower is certain he would have been punished in the pits of tartarus for all eternity, then some more were he to pursue you this way during your brother's reign, let alone disrespect you thus.
ignorant and insolent, he continues, "in few days time, i'll be allowed into the privacy of her living quarters; what is the privacy of her boat th—"
"you're lucky you did not make such outrageous remarks in front of the queen," uraume cuts him off, none too kindly nor gently, "if you did, her majesty would have certainly burnt you along with the boat to a crisp–"
"i know," comes the defeated reply within the instant. and while gojo is still not in uraume's good graces, the latter decides to notch him a level higher, considering the god of life accepts their queen's powers.
not many do.
he strikes a pathetically pitiful figure, uraume reckons, seeing him sit then slouch on the bench. "was she serious when she said she would protect me?"
your loyal subject nods, certain and solemn. "yes, she was. the queen is never careless when it comes to making promises."
"oh, that's reassuring," gojo says quietly— only to recline even further in the very next beat– an anguished, grating wail tearing from him to the stifling silence looming near the stygian marsh. uraume wonders if it is worth it to steer the boat towards acheron... then push him into its waters of woe...
they decide against it on catching the desperation worn by the god.
for all it is, it might nothing more than a ploy. yet something tugs at their mind to pause and listen when gojo howls, "why does my rose always scurry away after tilting my world on its axis? why does your queen always torment me like this, charon?"
uraume stares pensively at their face in the sacred waters of styx for a while. then heaves a mighty sigh.
certain, this exchange between the goddess of the dead and the god of life will impact not only your and gojo's respective worlds— but the general world and everyone else in it, as well.
Tumblr media
did you know, in the actual greek myths, persephone was never called so before her marriage to hades? she got it only after, w the name meaning "bringer of death". her initial name was kore, referring to her being a maiden & the spring goddess.
the river styx was called the "dread river of oath" by homer– in both the iliad and the odyssey [greek epic poems], swearing by its waters is the "greatest and most dread oath for the blessed gods" -> this shows how serious the reader is towards ensuring gojo's safety and freedom, and how deeply this affects gojo as well [source: wiki 😇]
also: the reader is totally ready to jump into the water to swim away when she realises gojo was listening in on her conversations- but then she remembers she can js vanish away and so she does js tht— the queen of the underworld, and of escaping, hehe
also also: the reader is slightly jealous when she is talking of the shifty nymphs always sticking to gojo's side. [uraume identifies it; you think it is js your usual dislike to such frivolous things and ppl as flowers and nymphs etc.] [hades is emo imho 😊]

Base Yandere Sosuke Aizen Headcanons: Aizen's Majesty (Redone?) (Bleach)
[Hello, My Sexy Muffins! This chapter will have Sosuke Aizen as a yandere and his base traits as one! Enjoy this chapter!]
(Disclaimer: Sosuke Aizen is not yandere in canon! This is just for fun and not to be taken seriously at all simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine! Just do not be illegal or gross about it! You know who you are! You Dirty, Flaky, Biscuits! Yanderes are not ideal partners to have in real life! Also, remember to separate fiction from reality and headcanon from canon! Thank you!)
-Base Yandere Headcanons With Sosuke Aizen From Bleach-
.Aizen has a god complex, that is for sure, there is no denying that.
.He is mostly a polite and soft-spoken man.
.This does not change when he met you, a sweet and beautiful soul.
.He wanted to cherish your soul and keep you away from the rest of the world.
.He is almost always calm and polite with you.
.Being very sweet and kind with you and loving you more than he ever loves anyone else.
.He also uses your first name, even if you asked him not to. He still would refer to you by your given name.
.In private, when it is just you and him, he will use sweet pet names to shower you with love and show you how sweet you are to him.
.Aizen also is very casual and informal with you, being very kind to you and friendly with you, as if you and him were husband and spouse.
.He can really get under your skin with how forward he is with his feelings for you, and how he does not get angry with you or lash out at you.
.He will have a long conversation with you, and no matter how irritated you get with him he just smiles at you with so much love and the obsession that he hides very well.
.No One would believe you with you saying Aizen was creepy to you, as you do get an off feeling with him around you.
.Aizen is just so nice and no one would understand why you have an off feeling with him.
.He came off first as a well-liked, charming, caring, and kind man.
.People would have thought you were just being cruel to Aizen for saying he creeps you out.
.Because even with how Good Aizen is at lying with you his darling he shows a slight obsession with you.
.So you can sense the danger that he has.
.He is always watching over you, and making sure that no one is getting close to you.
.He can tell you are uneasy around him and he will have to remedy that.
.But of course, he manipulates everyone around you, making them think that you are in a relationship with him. That you two are just going through a rough patch.
.So no one tries to hit on you or tell you they have feelings for you, cause everyone respects Aizen.
.They even try to encourage you to make up with him.
.He is actively gaslighting you and now everyone thinks you are being unfair to your boyfriend.
.You feel like you are going insane and he tells you it is okay, that he still loves you and will be patient with you.
.It does not matter if you lash out at him, he will keep that smile in place and will still be by your side.
.Of course, his mask could not stay up forever and it finally slipped thanks to Ichigo.
.Everyone first thought you were with Aizen, but when you finally screamed at them he manipulated all of them, and they realized you were never ever with Aizen.
.They are very apologetic and try to mend friendships with you.
.Though your friend Momo is still in denial about Aizen and you. It is best to stay away from her.
.Aizen had not been able to take you with him because of Ichigo.
.He is beyond pissed he could not take you with him. .He really does not care for almost anyone and is willing to use anyone to get what he wants.
.He has his eyes still on you, watching whatever you do.
.He actually misses you and longs for you to be by his side.
.He wants to be his co-ruler and his majesty, to be his deity that will become a deity when he becomes a god.
.You are the only one worthy of his love, and worthy to stand by his side, as the love of his life, his spouse, his majesty, his deity, his everything! YOU ARE HIS!
.He would have stalked you and been also a very manipulative yandere.
.Once he gets the chance he will have one of his Espada to kidnap you for him.
.You would be collared and have your spirit energy cut off and take your zanpoktou away from you.
.He has made you defenseless.
.Now that he does not have his mask up he does not have to hide his feelings for you.
.He can touch you all he wants now and make love to you.
.He would drug you to make you enjoy it and to make you submit to him.
.Which will further manipulate and break your mind.
.He will use mind games with you, making you realize that he loves you, and making you think he is the only man for you.
.He believes he is the only man good enough for you and will break your mind and build you back up. So that he can he can have a life with you.
.By the slim chance he had a rival or after he left the soul society and you had been with someone other than him.
.He will bring them to Hucho Mundo and have them killed in front of you, forcing you to watch them be tortured and destroyed.
.He would have you on his lap while it happens, touching you and kissing your neck as you watch the person or people you had been with.
.He will also blame you, telling you if you did not cheat on your husband that he would not have to do this.
.He would have broken you at this point so you would blame yourself.
.Aizen knows he had to break you down to make you love him.
.When he finally broke you he will confess his love once more.
.You will most likely accept his love, and he will make love to you (he is always the top) .If you somehow deny his love and hold onto your strength against him he will make you love him.
.He will keep at it, breaking you, mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
.Once he breaks you he will build you up and support you.
.You now love him and he will help build you back up where you depend on him and only him.
.Once he was defeated you were broken and did not know what to do. You loved Aizen but knew your love for him was wrong.
.It took over a decade of therapy but finally, you are feeling like yourself. You still struggle with the damage that Aizen had caused.
.But then the alarm went off, and Aizen escaped his cell. He will get his hands back on you, and he will slaughter everyone that stole you from him!
.He was immortal now, and he will make you immortal too! You are His and it does not matter where you go, or who you want to be with.
.You are his and he will hunt you down and make you his, he has all the time in the world and you are never ever going to escape Aizen, your king, your God, Your, Yandere!
[YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS another chapter is done! I hope that you all enjoyed this, and stay sexy, all of my sexy muffins!]

Hunger
After a long day of travel the exhausted group made camp to rest for the night. After unrolling their sleeping bag Tav decided to converse with their companions, unwinding with those they were growing to trust. Gale dug through their supplies for ingredients, seeming indecisive about what meal they’d have this night. Astarion lounged on a pile of pillows, propped up midway while thumbing through one of the books he pilfered on their journey. Laezel was content to settle on her knees nearby, quiet and uninterested in socializing. Everyone was in their place, all except their newest member. Tav spun in a slow circle to search but he couldn’t find the drider. They noticed Wyll near to the fire warming his hands, approaching him for inquiry.
“Wyll, have you seen Kar’niss? I’m certain he was right behind us,” Tav said.
“No, not since we put down our tents. I did notice he was looking a little gray around the eyes while we traveled today. I assumed he was just tired.”
“Now that you mention it,” Astarion interjected, “he wasn’t nearly as chatty as before. The break from his droning mantra was a welcomed change.”
Tav side-eyed Astarion and shook their head. “I’ll go look for him. He might be injured but didn’t wish to announce it.”
“Or maybe he’s decided to run off to find Majesty himself. He doesn’t strike me as the patient sort,” Shadowheart added.
Gale lifted a finger and waggled it in her direction. “Maybe so, but Tav sees something in him. Like it or not he’s part of our merry band now. Best to exhaust every option before assuming the worst.”
“Thank you Gale,” Tav said. “I won’t be gone long.”
Karlach held up her axe, the flicker of flames lapping at the handle. “If you’re not back in an hour, I’ll come looking, soldier.”
Tav smiled and nodded. “I’ve no doubt about that.”
Once the groups fears had been assuaged Tav wandered toward the direction Wyll pointed them to. This led away from camp and into a wooded area. They noticed broken twigs and bushes displaced likely due to a large creature moving through them. They ventured forth, the thick underbrush tugging at their clothing, strong scents of pine and moss tickling at their nostrils. It was dark, much of the moonlight obscured by the thick canopy above but Tav pressed on, lighting a torch to help cut through the pitch.
“Kar’niss?” They called, their voice echoing in the immediate area.
Several steps in they heard a distinct rustling above them, a few rogue leaves floating down from the trees branches around them. They tried to see what caused the disturbance, the wind or something more? In doing so they didn’t see the sticky trap they were backing into, their body hitting a wall of web that stretched between two thick tree trunks. This startled them, spinning around to struggle against the adhesive silk which snagged onto their clothes and hair with a vice grip.
“Hnn!”
Tav dropped their torch, the flame extinguishing once it touched the wet mud beneath their feet. They pushed and pulled but just as they yanked one arm free the other seemed to become more entangled as a result. Panic start to set in, Tav finding themselves close to calling out for those back at camp. Their cries were stifled by movement above them, darting their eyes to search for the source. From above, nine reflective spheres peered back at them, glowing in the dim moonlight that managed to filter through the branches. Tav stopped fighting with the webbing, their expression twisting into a confused scowl.
“Kar’niss?”
An annoyed hiss sounded off above them. “True Soul has ruined our trap.”
Tav breathed a sigh of relief. “Gods, that scared the shit out of me.” They frowned and looked at their arms, tacky and thoroughly wrapped in web. “How...how do I get out of this?”
Kar’niss carefully balanced over the branch which barely supported his weight. “They must stop struggling. The more they do the tighter the bondage. Back away, slowly, until the web becomes taut and snaps under pressure.” He’d instruct, his voice relaying the irritation at losing all of that hard work.
Tav did as told, walking backwards and dragging the thick strands with them. They pulled until the web couldn’t sustain itself, the beautiful entanglement ripped down the middle and freed it’s hostage. They exhaled, their heart beating so hard they could hear it in their ears. They’d start the process of peeling excess from their arms and clothing, admiring the leftovers as best as they could in the limited light.
“I’m sorry, Kar’niss. I didn’t mean to ruin anything. We didn’t know where you went so I left to search. I...was worried.”
The statement made Kar’niss shuffle in place, his head cocked to the side, perplexed. “Worried? We are not weak, we can handle ourselves.”
Tav winced. “Yes of course.” Once they cleaned themselves off they glanced up at him. “What are you doing out here, anyway? Wyll said you looked gray around the eyes. Are you ill?”
“Tch, no. I am hungry. I have not eaten in days, can’t wait any longer. We smelled wild game, one will wander into my web...once I rebuild it,” he grumbled.
Tav bit their lower lip. “We...have food in the camp. You’re welcome to share it with us, we don’t mind.”
“What food you have available we cannot eat. Unless you wish to offer the cleric, the fighter or the warlock for us to feast on. They are the only three that do not smell of foul blood.”
They furrowed their brows. “Blood…?” A pause. “Oh, OH! You can only consume blood?”
Kar’niss snorted and backed up against the bulk of the tree. “It is the only thing that sustains us. We prefer it fresh. If that is all, you may go. You’re scaring off the game.”
Tav frowned and nodded. “Alright. Once again, I’m sorry.”
They leaned down and palmed over the ground until they found their torch. Tav began to turn to depart, able to hear Kar’niss shuffling above to start the process of fixing the mess. They stopped mid-step, a thought dawning on them. They whirled back around and fixed their eyes on the drider’s silhouette above them.
“I have a question,” Tav said.
Kar’niss scoffed. “What is it now?”
They took a step closer. “You mentioned feeding on others at camp. What about...me?”
The question nearly caused him to lose his footing, his reflective gaze darting to Tav in surprise. “What?”
“Well, I ruined your trap and I feel awful about it. I’m sure it’ll take you a while to fix it, even longer to get a catch. So long as you promise not to drain me dry, that I’ll walk away from this, I don’t see why I can’t give you something.”
Kar’niss’ legs clicked against the surface of the branch, shifting his large body to get a better angle to look at Tav. A silence fell over the area only broken by the mild rustling of foliage from a gentle rolling breeze. He was thinking it over which was a good sign to Tav at least.
“We can...do this. Take only what we need to hold us over for something more...filling.”
Tav swallowed thickly, starting to second guess their offer. They had never been a meal for a drider before and didn’t know what to expect. At the same time they didn’t want him to starve. It was only a temporary arrangement, right?
“Will it hurt?”
“A little but it will pass quickly,” Kar’niss said.
Tav inhaled a deep lungful of air, mustering up the courage to give the order. Kar’niss was intimidating on his own but more so partially concealed by the shadows as he was.
“Alright, do it.”
Kar’niss didn’t need further convincing. His hind legs lifted to stimulate the spinnerets in the barb of his backside, producing a thick line of silk which he secured to the branch he perched upon. Attached to the line of web he began to descend from the tree toward his chosen snack standing below. Tav watched his approach, more of his features becoming defined the closer he came. Soon he hovered mere inches above the nervous individual, making intense eye contact with one another. Tav struggled to control their breathing, their heart racing with such fervor they feared it might burst like a bubble. Kar’niss reached out and hooked their arms under Tav’s armpits, winding them around their upper back. His pedipalps snapped around their waist and curled against their buttocks, enveloping Tav’s torso with the differing pair of limbs.
Tav suddenly felt the earth removed from their feet, Kar’niss’ hind legs pulling at the rope of silk, rising back into the safety of the canopy. Tav gasped from the sudden change in altitude, their arms wrapping around his neck out of instinct. This pressed their bodies together intimately so, Tav rarely allowed to be this close to the drider and finding they didn’t mind it. Once they reached a height that was acceptable to him he settled four of his legs against the side of the tree for stability, remaining suspended from the silken lifeline still attached to his spinnerets. This left Tav’s legs to dangle freely toward the ground below, a strange sensation but with the way Kar’niss held them they felt very secure. Almost too secure. Kar’niss had a grip on Tav and didn’t appear inclined to give it up. If they had reservations it may have been too late to voice them.
Kar’niss tugged Tav closer and craned his head to get a better angle on their neck, his prize. Tav’s lips trembled as his mouth inched closer, able to feel the caress of his warm breath cascading over the surface. Goosebumps spread the length of their arms, a gentle tremor creeping down their spine while the anticipation rose.
“Hold still,” Kar’niss whispered.
Before Tav could reply they felt his lips seal around the thickest portion of their neck. Razor sharp fangs sank into the tender flesh creating two smooth puncture wounds. The burning sting surged throughout their throat causing their eyes to water in response. A choked gurgle bubbled in their esophagus silenced only when they swallowed. Just as Kar’niss promised the throbbing ache of his intrusion began to wane, fading into a dull prickling sensation around the affected area. Tav curled their fingers into the meat of his lower shoulders to hang on for dear life, putting their trust into him keeping his word.
Kar’niss withdrew his fangs but kept his lips sealed around the area forming a vacuum, his nostrils flaring the moment Tav’s sanguine essence coated his greedy tongue. Vampire bites were hungered and frantic, seeking to drain their hosts as quickly as their heartbeat would allow. This was different, very much so. Kar’niss didn’t seem to be in a hurry, allowing the blood to flow naturally rather than sucking the area with any urgency. It took Tav a moment to realize, Kar’niss was savoring them.
His arms tightened around his ‘prey’, pointed digits mingling with the fabric of their clothes to get a better grip. He nursed at the open wound, his tongue occasionally darting out to lap over the surface for a stronger taste. Such a sensation made a blush blossom on Tav’s face, their breath hitched. They weren’t sure if it was from the blood loss or a new found curiosity, but they did experience the faintest tingle of arousal collecting around their groin. The softest sigh of pleasure escaped their mouth, a warmth rising on their skin that spread throughout their entire body.
After several moments passed Tav began to feel a tinge of dizziness creep into their head, the grip around his neck growing lax once weakness kicked in. Kar’niss sensed their exhaustion which prompted him to slide his lips free. He’d lick over the puncture marks to encourage their closure, sparing Tav from further loss.
“That is enough,” Kar’niss murmured.
Tav was dazed and a bit sore. Despite the blood drain they still had control of most of their faculties. They didn’t know how much time had passed but they could at least conclude it was no more than an hour. Otherwise they’d have a flaming tiefling bursting through the brush to make one hell of a scene. Tav panted quietly, reaching to feel over the area of their neck that had been willfully assaulted. They could feel the fang marks in the skin which were steadily healing over.
“Mmmf...do you f-feel better, Kar’niss?” Tav asked, their tone weary.
“Yes. This will sustain us for the moment. I can put you down now.”
“N-No. I want to stay with you, just a little while longer,” Tav said.
Kar’niss lofted a single brow, his eyelids falling half mast as if to mull it over. Tav did just put their trust into him for a risky endeavor, who was he to argue? “Very well.”
He inched his way up into the tree with Tav in tow, his legs hooking onto a thick branch to hoist the pair up. He lowered himself down into a seated position, his belly flush with the wood below. He adjusted Tav to cradle them, one arm under their knees and the other supporting their back. Tav felt the weight of exhaustion hanging heavy, their body curled into Kar’niss’ chest with rest in mind. The drider glanced down at his unexpected companion, his tongue tip grazing over the front of his teeth, collecting Tav’s taste still fresh upon them. He’d look at the half full moon partially exposed through the canopy.
“Thank you,” he said in a pensive tone.
Tav’s lips twitched into a worn but pleased smile, allowing their gaze to join Kar’niss in admiring the moonlight. There they remained in blissful silence, reflecting upon the moment shared between them.

It's the most-watched game show in the galaxy!
In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth--from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds to all the trucks and cars--collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground.
The buildings and all the people inside, they've all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot. A dungeon so enormous, it circles the entire globe.
Only a few dare venture inside. But once you're in, you can't get out. And what's worse, each level has a time limit. You have but days to find a staircase to the next level down, or it's game over. In this game, it's not about your strength or your dexterity. It's about your views and your followers. It's about building an audience and killing those goblins with style.
You can't just survive here. You gotta survive big.
You gotta fight with vigor, with excitement. You gotta make them stand up and cheer. And if you do have that "it" factor, you may just find yourself with a following. That's the only way to truly survive in this game, with the help of the loot boxes dropped upon you by the generous benefactors watching from across the galaxy.
They call it Dungeon Crawler World. But for Carl, it's anything but a game.

A Place to Call Home
214 Years before the events of Haunted.
Abigail Green stood at the entrance to the manor and knew she was home. She was in love from the moment she caught her first glimpse of the building as it danced in and out of her sight through the thick trees. When she climbed from the carriage, the house seemed to reach out and beckon her inward. She walked as if asleep to the front door and pushed it open. The doors squeaked and allowed her passage into the grand hall. She never questioned the fact that they should have been locked. After all, a house this welcoming should never lock its doors.
She wandered its halls, marveling at the majesty of it. The deep green walls. The gold leaf accents. The actual gold fixtures. Logically, she knew that it had be built long before she'd ben born, but in her soul she knew that it had been built especially for her. A floorboard creaked somewhere deeper into the manor, and she took that as a sign that the house agreed.
The house seemed to love Abigail deeply. The water was always warm for her, and the rooms she entered seemed to take on an unnatural glow. Colors deepened in her presence. Metal glinted just so. She named it Greenhampton House, not after herself, but after the color that it seemed to so love. She took to speaking to the house as if it were just as alive as the rest of the family. Some guests swore that they heard it replying from time to time.
Abigail's husband Jack never felt quite the same way about Greenhampton. He couldn't find comfort in any seat or peace in any room. He felt watched. And while, Abigail felt protected under the gaze of the house, Jack felt violated. His baths never felt private, and god forbid he try to make love to his wife with a thousand invisible eyes peering down at him.
He began to resent the place. He had bought it at his wife's desperate urging, but now all he wanted to do was sell it. Eventually, things came to a head.
On a particularly dark night, he woke to find his wife missing from their bed. Concerned, he rose and began to walk the house in search of her. He found her in the dining room, sliding a smooth length of metal in and out of her exposed slit. Right there in the dining room! He tried to shout without waking their children. He tried to grab at her hands, but when her eyes opened to look at him, they glowed with a white light that seemed to over take him.
"You can't do the job anymore," she said in a voice that wasn't entirely hers. "I have to do it myself."
He stood there, unable to do anything but stare into the white nothing, mouth open and cock suddenly harder than steel. She glanced down at his tented pajamas and smiled, the lack of eye contact temporarily breaking the spell.
"Well now. It looks like you might finally be up to the task."
The feeling of eyes on him returned and his arousal began to subside.
"Abigail," he said weakly. "I don't understand."
She looked up at him again, and again he felt himself fading into the background. His conscious mind was like an old trinket in the house; tucked away and forgotten.
"Shhh," his wife said, still in that strange voice, running a finger up his engorged shaft. "I know you don't. But I do. And I can show you. Are you finally ready to see?"
"I'm ready," he replied.
She touched his forehead and he blinked. The room was no longer empty. They stood together in the dining room surrounded by people; men and women alike, all completely naked. They reached for his wife, running their hands across her skin. Squeezing her breasts. Fingering her pussy. They reached for him now, too. And he could finally feel them.
Palms massaging his neck. Hands wrapped around his cock. Fingers teasing his ass. He no longer felt as though they were intruding. They lived here, too. They had every right to be here.
The light faded from Abigail's eyes and he returned to his senses. The men and women of the house disappeared from his sight, but their touches remained.
"Are you ready to perform for them, my love?"
"Yes, Mistress," he answered happily. They moved some of the plates aside and Jack was able to satisfy his wife and himself for the first time since they arrived at this sacred place. And as they lay there on the dining room table, Abigail began to whisper in his ear. Abigail had such plans. A business she could run from the many bedrooms here that would keep the house satisfied.
"We can send the children to your mother's house until they've come of age. Then they can return as adults and claim their birthright. And in the mean time, the women of Greenhampton will all belong to us."
He considered the things she was saying with great care. All the while, phantom hands stroked at his hardness. And as he erupted onto his own chest, he realized that it was the best idea he'd ever heard.
More to Come

Shirtless Luci omo
Leviathan in my head is the green and gray guy from that one picture Luci has in his workshop. The one that looks kinda like an inverted him.
I wanna say that Zestial's dialogue was put thru chatgpt cos English is not even my first language, ain't no way in hell I'm doin that manually kalsjdlka
This took me too long to write. I miss writing Belphegor's dialogues.
Likes, Reblogs, And especially Comments are soooooo appreciated <3 <3
--------------------------------------------
Lucifer's show and tell earned him looks varying from worry to disgust.
Lucifer: This is done by something ancient, as old as God himself. It was the reason for the First Heavenly War.
Asmodeus: Wait, Lucifer. Are you telling me this is Roo?!
Mammon: Bloody hell, didn't we seal that bitch for good?
Leviathan: Luci, are you sure?
Lucifer merely looks back to Belphegor.
Belphegor: Very. Although we casted a very powerful seal, her energy sometimes leaks out. Nothing major.
Beelzebub: What makes this different?
Belphegor: I.. do not have an answer to that as of now. We can attempt to cast a seal again but the power of the Sins will not be enough. We need every bit of high power Hell has.
Lucifer: I wouldn't have called you all here otherwise.
Zestial raises their hand to interject.
Zestial: Prithee, pardon, my liege. But who be this Roo thou dost mention?
Lucifer: The Root of All Evil. Don't know how it came to be in the first place. In the war, it got weakened enough for God to banish it to a dark pit that is now Hell. But after I gave humanity the fruit of knowledge... it regained power. The Sins and I barely managed to weaken it again to seal it below Sloth. We were incapacitated for a long time.
He catches his daughter's eyes.
Lucifer: It took each of us close to a century to recover.
Carmila: If I may, your majesty- us overlords cannot afford to lose our power- especially for as long as you said.
Zestial: Carmila speaketh true. Thou art the loftiest powers of hell, sin incarnate. And his majesty hath the blood of angels. If it hath drained thee so deeply, envision its effect upon a mere mortal soul.
A certain TV overlord let out indignant laugh.
Vox: Are you serious? You think we'll let ourselves lose power for this shit show?
Paimon: You would think before you badmouth your king, sinner!
Lucifer moves to sit on the table, propping up a leg to rest his elbow on. He didn't bother to button his shirt back on- these demons can use the reminder.
Lucifer: You can do whatever you want. I gave you free will, didn't I?But, do remember- death reaps from the bottom first. You are free to go as you please.
The Vees stand up first, muttering curses under their breaths.
Valentino: Ugh! I knew we shouldn't have come. A waste of fuckin-
The moth overlord was cut off by his own screams the moment he passed through the door.
At the same time, Angel Dust doubled over, hand clutching his throat as he coughed violently.
Husk and the others went closer in concern, willing Angel to breath slow while also asking him what's wrong.
Valentino stops screaming as he is held by Vox and Velvette. The Goetia's look on in curiosity while the other sinners all stood up in surprise.
Angel, still holding his throat, gasps.
Angel: No way.
Husk: Angel?? Are you okay?!
Angel let out a single chuckle that slowly turned into maniacal laughter.
Husk: Kid, you're scarin' me.
Angel: I'm free.
Husk: What?
Angel: I'm fuckin' free!
Angel continues to laugh some more while the sinner put two and two together.
Valentino: What the fuck did you do?!
The overlord shouted a the king.
Lucifer: Oh right! So that's what I forgot.
The Sins began to snicker behind their King as Valentino become even angrier. The rest of the overlords who were planning to leave as well are now rooted in place.
Velvette: You can't just do that! You said we could leave! The fuck happened to free will?!
Lucifer: And why not? You all can leave and not help. I won't stop you. But I am gonna be taking all the soul contracts you have. A small price to pay for staying in the safety of your own home while we risk our lives, no?
The lights of the hotel began to flicker as the aura around Lucifer and the Sins darken, 7 pairs of glowing menacing eyes and smiles show.
The entire room freezes, petrified at the horrifying image they are seeing in front of them.
Lucifer: Or did you forget?
The Devil grins.
Lucifer: You're in my house, bitch.
--------------------------------------------
Might not update over the weekend. Most likely Monday again!
What to look forward for in Part 5:
Satan: Even with all of us, you know it won't be enough. Unless.. Can you even find her?
Lucifer: I don't know.

Tumblr media
You're not sure if you're awake anymore or just a frozen sack of meat staring at a painting like your life depended on it.
"See? I told you, y/n! She looks like you." Your friend, Lia squeals excitedly. You wish you could share even half of her enthusiasm.
You knew this trip to the museum was a bad idea the moment you got on the bus. This entire trip has just not been clicking with you the way you'd expected it to.
You were always a history lover, though. You'd read pages and pages about kings and queens and ancient politics and everything along those lines. This trip was supposed to be equally enlightening but you'd spent the entire day trying shake off an odd, eerie feeling that seems to have latched on to your back.
"Yeah.." you mutter to Lia.
Your eyes run along every single stroke of the painter's brush. The red hues of the curtains, the golden shine of the crowns, the green frills on the Prince's overcoat and the brown contour of the Princess's face.
The face that somehow mirrored yours.
"Maybe she's a far, far ancestor of yours?" Lia suggests, "Who knows, y/n!"
There's no way a Princess from the 1800s could be your ancestor; you'd know if you had even a bit of royal blood coursing through your veins.
And in that one possibility out a million, even if you did have a royal ancestor, there's no way she'd look exactly like you. No way.
"Or it could be your past life, y/n." Lia's voice goes into a whisper, her eyes widening behind her square rimmed glasses, "Maybe you were the princess."
You only sigh in response.
You walk closer to read the placard placed near the foot of the painting.
Hwang Yeji
Painter, 1795-1856.
Portrait of His Royal Highness Prince Hwang Hyunjin and the Royal consort
1827
Oil on canvas
Her Royal Highness princess Hwang Yeji was born in 1795 to His majesty King Chung and the royal consort Her Majesty Queen Sayuu of the then kingdom of Clé. She also has a twin brother, Prince Hwang Hyunjin who is believed to be older than her by a few minutes.
“It is said that the Crown Prince and Princess have had quite a tragic story, and Princess Yeji had gathered strentgh to complete this painting a long time after her brother and sister in law were tragically killed.” Lia reads out the rest of the sentences.
"I'm taking a picture, oh God! This is so fucking awesome." Lia fishes out her phone and starts clicking pictures of the painting, muttering how the similarity between these you and the Royal Consort is giving her goosebumps, "Should I make a video too?"
Her voice drains out into the background as a throbbing pain spreads across your head and eyes and you see odd flashes like the scenes of a movie playing without any particular order; castles, ball dances, a crown colored in blood and a boy wounded in your arms.
An unexplainable force pushes you closer to the painting and the moment your fingers touch the rough wooden frame, your headache stops.
"Y/n, you're not allowed to touch the pai-"
Lia's voice gets quieter and quieter till your vision goes black and your body goes limp.
*
When your eyes flutter open after god knows how long, you find yourself in a rather unexpected place.
The room is bright. Too bright for your liking. Yet the sparkling white marble of the walls and floor look beautiful against the dark brown vintage furniture of the room.
You stir against the feather soft mattress of the bed when a concerned voice calls you from across the room.
"Oh my darling! You're awake!" The voice is gentle, "We were so worried about you, y/n."
Your vision is still hazy but you see the figure of a lady walking toward you.
"Um, where am I?" You ask, rubbing your temples.
Until a while ago, there was unbearable pain but now you feel fine.
"Oh dear," the lady sits at the foot of your bed, "You're home. Do you not remember?"
Home? Since when did home go from a 3 BHK apartment in the heart of the city to this huge, fancy room?
"There..there has been some kind of mistake, ma'am."
When you try to sit up, she pushes you back down. Gentle but insistent.
"Dear, you need to rest. The physician will be here in the evening and I am to stay here with you until Hyunjin arrives, okay?"
She smiles at you and finally, you are able to take a closer look at the woman. Her hair is graying but long, a silver crown rests on her head gracefully and she wears the most beautiful silk gown you'd ever seen. Her face is wrinkled yet when she smiles, one can tell that she must have been quite a beauty back in the day.
"W-who might you be, ma'am?" You ask, nervous, heartbeat in your throat.
You were excited when you saw the fancy room earlier but now it's getting real creepy. Why is this random woman talking to you as if she knows you?
"Oh, dear, y/n," She places a hand on your forehead, and you flinch, "I'm your mother in law. Queen Sayyu. Do you really not remember?"
Your breath gets caught in your throat.
Queen Sayyu. You'd heard that name before. That painting in that museum you were in. Lia was right beside you. What the fuck happened after that?
"I think you're mistaken, ma'am. I am a student. I cannot be married." You mutter, "Did you find my phone when I was brought here? I could call my friend. She must be around." Because there's no way Lia would leave you alone with this creepy old lady with some serious personal issues, right?
But then again, Queen Sayyu was a real person. And for all you know, her daughter in law did resemble you.
Did you perhaps travel back in time? Or was it just your brain making you see weird things?
"Phone? What's that?" She asks.
You sigh, and tap your thighs where your pant pockets once resided but now, your fingers slide across the softest silk.
"Where are my clothes?" You jump out of the bed, getting worried by the second.
Why were you dressed in a blue silk gown? You don't even remember ever buying one.
Panic seizes you when Sayyu tries to touch you, "Ma'am, would you please tell me what’s going on? I'm genuinely confused!"
"I am telling you the truth! You, y/n Princess of The Northern Kingdom was married off to my son Hwang Hyunjin a few months back. " she sucks in a deep breath, "Did you perhaps lose your memories after the accident? Did you hit your head too hard?"
You are about to open your mouth to reply when you hear a gentle knock on the door.
"Y/n, it's Hyunjin. "
Sayyu passes you a worried look before she rushes off to let her son in.
"It's worse than I thought, " you hear her whisper as the front door opens, "She has amnesia!"
You sit on the edge of the bed, running a frustrated hand through your hair.
As if the mother wasn't enough, the son is here too. Brilliant.
"Please talk to her. She is saying peculiar things like some thing called phones and some girl called Lia and she kept asking who I was!" Sayyu continues whispering to Hyunjin, with no active reaction from the latter.
You wonder if Sayyu was really stupid enough to think you couldn't hear her.
"I'll talk to her." A male voice finally replies, "You should rest, mother. You've been here all day."
For some reason, you cannot bring yourself to have a look at your supposed husband.
You have a fleeting memory of the painting you'd seen back at the museum but you weren't sure if the Prince really did look as attractive in real life.
You hear the front door open and close, and then heavy footsteps approach you.
"Is this some new plan of yours? Trying to get attention again?"
Wow. What the actual hell!
You snap your head to look at him, "Excuse me?"
But oh, boy was he beautiful. Long blonde hair, golden eyes and blue silk robes, he carried it all so elegantly.
"Y/n, please. I know you didn't actually lose your memories. So stop pretending and tell me why you are doing it."
For a second, you almost feel bad for yourself.
Well not you you but the princess you.
It must have been hard marrying someone like this. But then again, good looks hardly ever guarantee good behavior.
"I am not pretending. I genuinely do not remember anything, Hyunjin! Why do you have to be so mean?"
"If you really do not remember anything then why are fighting with me like you do always! See, I was right. You are lying."
You clench your jaw, frustrated, " I am fighting because whether I remember you or not, you're still a piece of shit!"
Hyunjin's eyes widen in shock. Of course he never expected his graceful wife to ever use such profanities. He looks betrayed.
"Now get the hell out of my room."
You climb back into the bed, cover your head with the quilt and shut your eyes.
Before you know it, you are sleeping soundly with no idea that your poor husband is spending the night on the sofa in your room
*
The next morning, you are woken up by your maids followed by the most delicious breakfast ever.
They prepare a bath for you, chose a gorgeous gown from the closet, and even style your hair. You do not even have to lift a finger to get these things done.
And all of a sudden, your odd reality doesn't feel as horrible anymore.
You remember the placard placed near that painting, and all your fears vanish. It was written that Prince Hyunjin and his wife would be killed in a few years and you are positive that when you die in this world, you will wake up in your original world.
Yes, the dying part is scary but might as well enjoy the luxury that comes with the fear.
In the afternoon, you find yourself sipping tea and breathing the fresh air of the rose garden behind your palace quarters.
"So you are...Nabi. My lady in waiting?"
Nabi is a cheerful, smiley young woman. She also seems to be closer to the princess version of yourself than most other maids.
"Yes, your Highness, " she sighs sadly, "It breaks my heart to see you like this. Do you really not remember anything?"
"Um, I remember some things. Like the king's and queen's name and princess Yeji. I also know that I am from the Northern Kingdom."
You also know that you'd die in around two years and Hyunjin's sister will make a painting to let the world know what a tragic story you had, but you decide to not say that.
Nabi pouts, "I'm sorry, your Highness. I wish I were there when you fainted. Maybe I could have helped you."
You tap your fingers against the porcelain cup in your hand, "Could you tell me exactly what had happened that day? Did I fall down? Or something else happened?"
"Oh, you didn't fall, no," she chuckles, "All the women of the Royal family were invited to this art gallery. While looking through some paintings, you suddenly fainted. We brought you back immediately."
"The physician check you and confirmed that you weren't pregnant, much to the Queen's dismay. She was looking forward to becoming a grandmother."
You almost spit the tea out, "What! Where did that even come from?"
Nabi smiles, "Well, why else would a newlywed bride faint? Anyway, I knew you weren't pregnant. You'd told me the prince and you haven't done that, you know."
Wow. The princess 'you' really told this girl way more than needed.
"And why exactly did I say we hadn't fu- I mean done that yet?" And now you were asking more than necessary.
"Because he's cold to you." She says, "But you know, even when you told me that, I knew he loved you and only you. He has never been involved with another and I saw him keep a portrait of yours in his private study room."
You are at a loss of words. How does one even react to this kind of information? Should you be happy for the princess 'you' or should you be jealous of her?
You force a smile, "How exactly did you find out about the portrait?"
"What portrait?" A male voice says from somewhere behind you.
Nabi and the other maids quickly get on their feet and greet their prince as this ethereal man walks out from behind the tall bushes.
"Hm? What are you guys talking about?" He asks, a gentle smile on his lips.
Oh so now he smiles?
"Just palace gossip." Nabi says, her gaze low.
"Is it true, my princess?" Hyunjin walks toward you and takes your hand in his, pressing his lips gently to your fingers.
You hate the way your cheeks heat up at the contact.
"Y-yeah. Obviously." You say.
He smiles widely, wrapping an arm around your shoulders, "Could you ladies please excuse us?"
When Nabi and the maids leave, you find yourself alone with the prince again and you're not sure how you feel about that.
Last night, he was so mean to you and now he's acting like a lovestruck man? What is the meaning of this?
You push him away, "What?"
He sighs.
Today, his blonde hair is tied half way up, and he wears a diamond crown. He looks more sophisticated from last night. More prince-like.
"What?" You demand again.
"Look, I'm sorry about yesterday, okay? I'm still not convinced that you've lost your memories but can we put this behind us for a while?" He says, "Can you come with me to the study room? I have to show you something."
You follow him without question.
The palace complex is still a maze to you and other than your living quarters, you don't know much about the rest of the palace.
He leads you through a staircase to a huge room on the top floor of one of the buildings. Or was it the main palace where the king and queen resided? You weren't sure anymore.
"Yeji was very worried to hear about your amnesia, by the way." Hyunjin mutters as he lights the candles in the room, "She'll be back by next summer."
"Where has she gone?" You say, mindlessly staring at the huge collections of books in this place. A huge chandelier hangs from the center of the room and as the Hyunjin continues to light numerous candles and lanterns around the room, your eyes finally take in the whole picture of the room. For a second, you almost felt like you were watching a Renaissance period drama.
Hyunjin stops in his tracks, "y/n, do you really not know?"
He turns around and looks at you strangely, as if expecting your eyes to give away the truth of this supposed amnesia.
And when he sighs, you know that he didn't find what he desired.
"She's training under a really famous dance academy. If she's lucky, she might be able to clear her final year dance exams this year." He says.
You want to ask him if art doesn't interest her but that might make him doubt you again. You cannot afford to do that when Hyunjin is the only person here who you trust even slightly.
Nabi is honest and Sayyu is kind but you find it hard to match their energy.
"So what did you want to sho-" You stop mid sentence when your eyes fall on a huge painting behind Hyunjin's study table.
Your painting.
"It's me", you gasp, "It's..my portrait."
"Yeah. I just finished it today, actually." He rubs the back of his neck, "I'll hang it in your room once the paint dries."
In the painting, you are sitting on a chair, dressed in the finest white dress you'd ever seen. An elegant tiara sits on the crown of your head, and your lips are stretched into a smile.
"Hyunjin..." you are at a loss of words.
Nabi was right; Hyunjin did have a portrait of you in his study. What she didn't know is that he was the one who made the painting while all this while you were under the impression that Yeji was the artist in the family.
"It's good right?" He asks, unsure.
"Yes. I love it," you reply, "When is this image from?"
Hyunjin frowns at your words, again scanning your eyes as if looking for some hint of lies in your words.
"Y-you don't remember?" He asks.
"What?"
He sighs, looking rather disappointed, "It's from our wedding, y/n."
*
Hyunjin is starting to wonder if you'd actually lost your memories.
The next few days, he tries to subtly engage you in conversations regarding your wedding day and your life before getting married and by the time the week ends, he is sure you'd lost your memories.
He hated to admit it, but he did like the fact that you couldn't remember the times when he was so horrible to you.
Now he can start anew. A clean slate.
"You've been spending suspiciously a lot of time with me, Hyunjin." You had asked him one evening, munching up a cookie, "What's up?"
He chuckles; he's come to enjoy this new side of yours. It's a completely different version of your other self- the one who grew up training to be the lady of a house.
"Nothing," he grabs a cookie for himself, "We're having a ball this evening, by the way. It's mother and father's 30th anniversary."
Your eyes widen with excitement, "Really?! We're having a ball ball. Like we wear dresses and all? And we dance under a huge chandelier?"
Hyunjin is taken aback; you used to hate balls. Or any public gathering for that matter.
"Y-eah, well. Yes." He gulps.
"Oh my god. I need to talk to Nabi. I have so much to prepare, oh my god. Why are you only just telling me," you grab another cookie and sprint towards your room, "Also will there be a fountain where wine flows instead of water? That would be so cool!"
Hyunjin gives you a soft smile; no such fountain was planned for the ball but if it meant he'd see you this excited, he could pull a few strings.
*
The rest of the hours leading upto the ball is a blur; you only remember running from the dressing room to the ball room to your bedroom and back to the dressing room and as for Hyunjin, the day goes slower than ever.
He only got to see flashing glimpses of you running from place to place and somewhere, deep down in his heart, he missed your attention.
It was a jarring realization; him enjoying your company and attention and even craving it at times. He couldn't quite digest this unfamiliar feeling yet, he realised, he wasn't unwelcome to it.
"Are you ready? They're waiting for the Prince and Princess, y/n. We don't want the Royal families of other kingdoms thinking we were out doing something unholy now, would we?"
Hyunjin has this mischievous smile on his, leaning against the door Frame of your dressing room.
Is he flirting? You wonder.
You sigh, "I don't think I look good enough, Hyunjin. I look..weird."
You run a hand over the lustrous material of your ball gown. You feel very foreign in your body all of a sudden.
"I don't think so, my lady," Hyunjin steps into the room, a hand gentle on your waist, "I think you look breathtaking. What would you say, Nabi?"
Nabi hides a blush while you stare at your husband; wide eyed and mouth gaping.
What has gotten into him lately? Is he trying to annoy you or are these words coming from somewhere else?
You shake the latter thought away from your mind. How could this beautiful Prince from centuries before your time find you breathtaking?
Impossible.
You swallow your nervousness and turn on your heels.
"If you say so," you shrug, "Let's go, come on, Hyunjin. "
Chuckling softly to himself, Hyunjin follows suit.
The evening is great but you don't remember much by the time it ends; you somehow end up getting drunk on wine from the wine fountain and Hyunjin has to subtly carry you away from the ball room.
"Hyunjin ~" you slur as he covers your body with a duvet, "Do you ever wonder if a parallel universe exists?"
He lies down beside you, sighing, "Maybe. Why do you ask?"
"I know it exists. I am living proof that it exists, you know," you say, passionately, "I'm not bluffing."
Hyunjin laughs, " Of course, you're not. How could you lie?"
He pushes strands of hair behind your ear.
Your heart thumps against your chest; you love that feeling.
"If there was a parallel universe, I hope I end up with you." You giggle, snuggling into his chest.
Hyunjin freezes for a moment, breath stuck in his throat and eyes not even blinking.
But when he feels you relaxing into him, he let's his shoulders slouch.
"If there was a parallel universe, I hope I end up with you too."
The only reply he gets from you is a snore.
*
The next few months are smooth as the calm sea, pleasant as the spring wind, beautiful like the blooming of roses.
You'd come to adore Hyunjin- that was for sure. You'd come to love his presence and crave it everytime you guys were apart. He had become like the anchor to your ship; and you, his.
"Yeji's coming home tomorrow, by the way. How much do you remember of her?"
"Just her face," and the fact that when you're both killed brutally one day, she'd make a painting of you two, immortalising your love.
The thought causes your stomach to stir; you didn't want to go back to the reality you knew.
All of a sudden, you find yourself wishing you had more time with this man- this man who loved nothing more than lying in your arms, your naked bodies as close as one could get, this man who had made you feel safe when you were suddenly sucked into this unknown world, this man who loved you to death and beyond.
Hyunjin snuggles in closer(as if he could get any closer) and kisses your temple oh so tenderly. Then he moves to your cheek, then nose and then mouth.
His lips are plump and warm and inviting, and before you know it, you both find yourself falling into the wonderful ocean of pleasure. Over and over again.
The next day when Yeji arrives, you are skeptical about approaching her but she was more than happy to see you. Before the day ended, she'd already invited you to a tea party in the gardens, and by the week ended, you guys had become great friends.
She was just so comfortable to talk to and so friendly. She was so curious yet sweet. How could you not be her friend, you often wondered.
It was on one such afternoon picnic that Nabi came running to you.
"His Majesty is injured! He was attacked during his hunt."
You didn't waste a second before storming off towards his room, not caring for your supposed lady etiquette anymore.
No God, please, not yet.
You reach your bedroom, out of breath and sweaty, and Hyunjin was sitting at the edge of the bed, getting his wounds cleaned.
Your heart drops into your stomach.
There is a big gash on his arm; bleeding profusely even though the physicians were trying to stop it. There are blue and purple all over his face and stomach, and a few more smaller cuts on his entire body.
And he looked terrified and pale and sad.
"Hyunjin..." you run to him.
He looks up at you, teary eyed.
"Y/n...I'm okay." Is his first instinct, "Don't cry."
You sit beside him and press a long kiss to his temple, your heart feeling lighter when the physician signals to you that the bleeding has stopped.
"Who was it?" You ask
Yeji stands in front of the two of you; tears streaming down her face.
"Whoever it was, I'll kill them with my own two hands, goddammit!"
"Calm down, guys." Hyunjin sighs, "I didn't see a face. But they were wearing a very familiar perfume. I wonder who it could have been."
You swallow nervously, "Just..just stay safe okay?"
Hyunjin smiles at you, "Of course, my love."
An odd mixture of expressions grace Yeji's face.
*
While Hyunjin recovers, you make sure he does not step out of the palace unaccompanied.
You're getting his food tested, his room sanitized, and every gift that he receives has to go through multiple rounds of security checks. You know what is to come, but some silly, silly part of you wants to prevent it.
"You're being a little too paranoid, I think." Hyunjin tells you as the servants set up the dinner table for him, "I'm gonna be fine, y/n."
"Hyunjin, just," you sigh, reminding yourself to be patient with him, "Just please let me do what I'm doing. It helps me sleep at night."
With a gentle wave of his wrist, Hyunjin dismisses the servants.
He grabs your hand and pulls you in to sit on his lap.
"Y/n, I'm literally right here. I'm stronger than you think. I'm not planning on leaving you any time soon." He presses a kiss to your temple.
A wave of realization washes over you, and you find yourself tearing up, melting into his embrace.
How did you even come to love this man that you'd only ever heard of in history books? Was this even real? If you pinch yourself hard enough, would you wake up to a world where Hyunjin is not yours anymore?
"Just shut up, goddammit, " you say to him, "Hold me, please."
You say it like a request, but really, you were begging him to hold you. To make you feel safe, even if it's for a short while. Because for all you know, the end could be closer than expected.
That night, you and Hyunjin fall asleep in each other's embrace. There was nothing more pure, raw, or beautiful than what you felt with him. In a span of a few months, you'd fallen madly in love with the prince.
It's funny, huh, how you never found love back in the modern world yet here you were, sharing your whole heart with Hyunjin?
Maybe it was always meant to be like that and maybe when this beautiful daydream ends someday, you could look back at it and relish these memories.
"Y/n, get up." You're pulled out of your sleepy thoughts when you feel someone tap you on the shoulder. Urgent.
"Nabi? What time is it?" You whisper back, gently putting Hyunjin's head of the pillow, "What's happened?"
Nabi shakes her head, "The Royal investigators have got some news. A possible group of assassins is heading to the palace as we speak. My lady, we must rush you to safety immediately. The soldiers will escort the Prince."
Your heart hammers against your chest.
"I-I can't leave him. He's not recovered yet. He cannot fight!"
"Your majesty, please. I beg you," Nabi replies, "These are the orders of The Queen. I have to escort you to where the ladies are. "
With a tight throat, you quietly follow Nabi out of the room.
She leads you down through a secret tunnel between Your Palace and The King's, that leads to a dark corridor with a single metal door at the end.
"This way, your majesty. The princess and the queen are inside. I'll bring you news from to time so there's nothing to worry about." Nabi says as she unlocks the door from the outside. She passes the lantern to you.
The moment you step into the dark room inside, you hear a loud bang. You turn around in horror only to find the door closed in your face and Nabi gone.
"N-nabi?" You murmur nervously, "Why did you close the door?"
From inside the room, you hear a faint chuckle.
"She's gone, y/n. Left us to rot in this dungeon forever. "
"Yeji?"
You jog towards the tired, lifeless voice.
And when you reach the princess, what your lantern shows you horrifies you to the core.
"Your majesty!" You fall on your knees, grabbing the lifeless body of a once beautiful Queen who you'd come to adore over the years, "W-what happened?"
You're crying now; watching the princess caress her mother's cold face.
You're sobbing; watching the bloody hands of the daughter who tried to stop her mother from bleeding to death.
"Nabi is..", Yeji swallows, "She's a part of the resistance that wants to overthrow the monarchy. They want a military ruled government. It was her doing. On the day Hyunjin was attacked, I knew it was her."
You cry harder, moaning into your hands.
How could she?
"And I too, am at fault here. I made the mistake of befriending her so so many years ago," Yeji continues, "I paved her way into the palace. I'm as much as of a criminal as her."
You clear your throat, rubbing the tears off your cheeks and neck, another sob bubbling within your chest.
"We do not have time to repent things we had no control over," you say, "The Queen Mother is gone but we can still save your father and Hyunjin. "
"They've taken father to their military fortress. " Yeji says, her tone suggesting she's given up all her hopes. "He's as good as dead. "
"Then we save my husband."
"Y/n, how will we-"
"I saw the key. When Nabi unlocked the door, I saw the key."
"What about it?" Yeji asks, shifting.
"It doesn't have a key. It only has a numerical lock code."
Yeji lifts an eyebrow, as if to ask you "So?"
"It was 0143."
*
Leaving the Queen Mother's body behind, you and Yeji rush out of the door, grabbing every knife, sword, and other sharp object you could find in the dungeon.
"I think she must have taken Hyunjin hostage," Yeji says, rubbing the sweat off her forehead. "But since he cannot fight that well because of his wounds, they're probably interrogating him in your bedroom. "
"Interrogating him for what?"
"The keys to the Royal armory and the king's safe of gold."
Sure enough, you find Hyunjin in your bedroom. Except it wasn't your Hyunjin, it was a replica of
Queen Sayyu. Blood and blood and blood everywhere on his body. His eyes barely open but his hands, they pointed at you as you rushed in.
"Hyunjin!" You cried, kneeling by the bed side floor, "Hyunjin, please, hold on."
The room was empty except for the three of you. The furniture was broken and burnt and cupboards were clearly forced open.
"Did you give them the keys?" Yeji asks him, sobbing, "Mother died to protect those keys."
He coughs and leans into you, "I've alarmed the military. They are on their way."
"The rebels will be coming back too." He coughs again, "The keys are behind the painting in my study. Save them Yeji, run, now."
Yeji steadies herself as she gets up, "Come on, y/n. He said they might come back. "
Oh, but how could you? How could you leave the love of your life to bleed to his death alone while you escaped?
Moreover, this was the tragic end of your daydream, wasn't it? Dying together while Yeji survives and continues to rule the country.
"Go, Yeji, " you tell her, over the noise of the blood coursing through your ears, you hear footsteps, "Now!"
Yeji is a smart girl, you realize. With a hand over her mouth to suppress her sobs, she runs out of the room, without turning back even once.
When she is out of sight, Hyunjin fumbles to find your hand in the darkness. He's cold and stiff.
"If I disappear today, promise me you will find me. Promise me, please y/n." He manages to say.
You kiss his hand softly as the footsteps get closer, tears streaming down your face.
"I will find you. In every universe, in every timeline. I will find you, my love. " you say as you find a metallic taste in your tears and your vision goes black.
*
After what feels like a millennia, the darkness around you is finally replaced by a bright light.
It is too bright, but when you see a familiar face, your discomfort vanishes.
"Lia!" You throw yourself onto your napping friend, "Lia! Oh, I'm so happy to see you."
Lia though surprised at your outburst, returns your embrace with equal enthusiasm.
"I missed you too, y/n." She says, "I didn't know that picture would have such an impact on you. I was so scared when you passed out!"
Picture? What picture?
And suddenly, all the memories play in your mind like an old film. It's hazy, but you know what's going on.
You see blood, a crown, burning curtains, and..a blonde prince.
Hwang Hyunjin.
"Lia..", you sigh, your heart aching terribly, "How long have I been out?"
"Like around 36 hours or so. I don't remember. "She replies.
36 hours in this world and you'd already spent a lifetime in another. How utterly tragic.
"Y/n, what's wrong? You're tearing up." Lia says, offering you a tissue, "Are you in pain?"
You sigh, "Yes. I am in extreme pain, Lia. How could life have been so, so unfair to us?"
Lia gives you a confused nod, not really sure what had exactly led you to believe that life had been unfair to you.
"Y/n, what-"
Lia is cut off by a knock on the door.
"Ah. That must be the doctor." Lia jogs towards the door, "Just a second, Dr. Seo!"
"Um, hello," the doctor greets, "Dr. Seo is in urgent surgery. He sent me in his place to check on the patient. "
When the doctor steps in closer, your breathing gets stuck in your throat.
Of course, you know this man. How could you not?
You'd died with him in another world, in another time, in another life.
You'd loved him.
"I'm Dr. Hwang, Miss Y/n." The doctor says, a familiar expression on his face. He looks rather delighted to see you.
"I feel like I've seen you somewhere before." He chuckles to himself as he sits on the chair by your hospital bed.
"Yes, me too." These are the only words you manage to say.

This painting murdered me.
So. To business.
I realize in the late afternoon that one of my oldest and dearest friends in the fucking universe HAS HER BIRTHDAY.
TODAY.
(I congratulated her and all that but for some reason I completely forgot to make her a gift). Thus, I must now make the most extravagant gift of all time. I am an artist. I knew what had to be done.
Now, I’m a solid artist in portraits, I can whip those bitches out, fully rendered and detailed in an hour and a half. But nooooo. I must include something about her! Something she loves. WELL WELL VAN GOGH WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???
Tumblr media
(This picture curses my retinas now.) I have the bright idea to mimic his stunning impressionist style in a Spock portrait. Side note: Vinnie wasn’t doing digital art, so maybe that would’ve been my first clue to the disaster I was heading towards.
About three minutes into coloring in the eye, I slowly realized. Vinnie, God rest his soul, did not have to individually find each color on a color wheel. He also did not choose to use the most minute brush size of all time. I only realized past the point of no return how hellishly long this was going to take.
(SpongeBob voice)
“Foure houres lateeeh”
Tumblr media
(Please zoom in to see the majesty) You can tell around the neck where I just gave up. But my cruel cruel ambition has me by the neck. I can’t give a portrait as a gift! That would be heinous! Why not just….
Van Gogh it?
UGH.
Tumblr media
SIX HOURS. AND TWENTY TWO MINUTES. TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTY STROKES. (For reference the average portrait takes me maybe two hours and three thousand strokes). Madness. Pure madness. But what makes this even more pretentious.
Tumblr media
Yes that is the Fibonacci sequence. She is a massive fan of the Fibonacci bro. What she wants, she gets, right? Anyway, it’s three in the morning and I want to sleep forever.

“Nell!?” Roxy calls, a call full of hope and desperation.
My head flicks around, eyes darting to the sandstone entrance of the estate. A figure barely visible behind columns that tower, the human size appearing so small next to this grand structure.
“She’s there” Charles huffs out with relief. Whether it’s for his own confirmation or confirming it for Roxy, I’m not sure… and to be honest I don’t care right now. I haul myself off the ground and out of the huddle of people.
Hiking up my layers of dress I follow Roxy down the gravel path with a hurried pace, watching the limping figure full of deep reds run towards us. These reds filled her breeches, her long coat... the blood on her cheek.
Little Georgie’s close behind “Nelly!”
I stop just behind Roxy, letting her sisters breathe relief into Nell’s shoulder… relief that she’s still here and she’s okay. None of us were willing to say it out loud, but a knowing and troubled glance had been cast between eyes all day. Everyone knew whatever this battle was, it was big. And if Poynton could plunge us into night… God only knows if Nell had stood a chance. But here she was, soul and body together.
The air around Nell is heavy, her brows furrowed, and face scrunched so as not to sob in front of the people she always keeps a strong front for. Despite this, her crying breaths were the only sound that filled the air as she motioned for everyone to go in for a hug.
Slowly, each of us loosens our grip but stay close to offer support of her weight. My arm is linked under her right, Roxy on her left to take as much weight off her limping foot as we could. My own eyes are hot and stinging at this point, from either relief, worry, or both, but this was our turn to keep strong and together for Nell.
Making our way down the gravel path, it is slow and quiet, an air of hope and relief, but also filled with despair, from whatever Nell is feeling.
Here I notice Charles, linked arms with Her Majesty the Queen in the flesh, undoubtedly carrying out the beginnings of damage control. I presume more guards will be here soon to take the Queen back to the palace, and I presume Charles will go along to get back to his toff life. But right now my focus was Nell.
Ahead I could see the horses, with a look of unrest and unease in themselves, heads nodding up and down, hoofs kicking up the dirt under them as they trod about on the spot. There are two horses here, one a chestnut brown that looks almost ginger where the sunlight hits, the other, a broad and tall horse, with a dirty white coat. Both of these horses are saddled with a fine brown leather and all sorts of supplies hanging off it. I have always thought that horses were more in tune with their surroundings than humans. I’ve thought that maybe they’re ethereal in a sense… that they have to know something we don’t. Maybe Nell knows whatever this is too, hence her own unease.
Now standing next to the broad white horse I place my hands either side of Nell’s waist, hoisting her onto the horse.
“Alright?” I say to Roxy, George and Rasselas. They all nod.
“Alright,” Roxy replies, casting the most reassuring glance she could find in herself.
With legs of jelly that still felt like a thousand stones, I hoist my own body onto the saddle in front of Nell. Before I even manage to settle on it, Nell wraps her arms around my waist and rests her head between my shoulder blades.
I strain my head around and again ask her “Alright?” She just nods without lifting her head, her cheek brushing against the middle of my back with each movement, igniting a sort of fluttery feeling in my body.
Right now, with the low sun filtering through the oaks and birches, painting dancing shadows on her frizzy red hair, gentle features and closed lids, I couldn’t help but think she looked so pretty. She’d frown at me all funny if I ever told her that, but after not knowing whether I could’ve lost her today or not I had to stare for a second.
“Oi” Rasselas called, the other Trotter sisters piled around him on a chestnut brown horse, “We really gotta get back.”
This had abruptly taken me out of my moment of peaceful blatant staring, which no doubt didn’t go unnoticed by the others, to reach back and pat Nell’s thigh as I get the horse moving forward.
Back at the Talbot
I guide Nell threw her bedroom door, maintaining contact at every moment I can, whether it’s a hand on her back or arm. I don’t know whether I’ve done this to make sure she knows I’m here, or to make myself sure she’s still here. As we get in, I support her elbows as I sit her down on the edge of the bed, the white linen sheets laid out in a sort of picturesque way. Her usually warm brown eyes are glazed over and cast off to nowhere. What the hell happened in there to shake her up this much? Whatever it was it drives my instinct to just loosely grasp the dip in the back of her head and quickly, but firmly, I place a kiss at her hairline. This seems to just be enough to snap her out of whatever daze she was in and look up at me.
Those big brown eyes of hers will be the death of me, I think to myself.
I muster a tender smile; one I think isn’t totally convincing with a slightly furrowed brow. I reach for her hands in her lap as I squat below her line of eye.
“Nell… what happened in there?”
“I…” she lets out a brisk exhale, one I suspect hiding another sob. “I just lost the most important thing,” she places a hand under her nose, almost as if to catch any of her own soul that may come out through tears. Tears which begin rolling down her freckled, bloody cheeks.
I don’t know what to say to this, what can I say to make whatever this hurt is go away? Nothing I suspect. So I stay quiet for a moment, hands squeezing hers, looking up through the fallen bits of her hair to her squeezed eyes. The image of which gives a squeezing sensation in my own heart.
“Let’s get you cleaned up,” I whisper. She gives a small, quick nod, with the corners of her mouth moving slightly up. And although this is small, I notice it and take it as a thanks. I’d do this a hundred times over and more for her. Although I don’t know anything other than this that I can do for her right now.
Moving ever so slowly so as not to startle her, I stand up. I pull her coat down and away from her shoulders. She’s sitting on it, and I won’t dare move her right now, so I let the top half of it fall just behind her on the bed. Next, I move towards the knot of her patterned scarf. I slide between her legs to get closer to work on the knot, delicately untying it and pulling it down and under her ragged ponytail. Nell leans her head forward again, pressing it against my ribs, which very quickly leads to our arms being wrapped around each other tightly.
I don’t know how long we stayed like this. I soak it up though, her smell, how she feels pressed into me. I know Nell isn’t one for hugs normally, and even in the state she’s in, I’m selfish in enjoying it.
Nell and I have had a strong familiarity with one another for a long time now, since the Trotters gave me work at the Talbot. It helped me keep my bills paid and was always good company when I needed it. The Trotters have always been good to me. Still, there always has been something more between Nell and I. Glances that last a bit too long, comments made in jest (but not really), and a real thick air... so thick it doesn’t feel like you can cross it or break it. And often when I’m lying in bed, one side cold with white moonlight, I am warm with thoughts of Nell. Everything she is with her charisma, her strength, her perseverance. On these nights, I am also tormented with memories of the very long year we had been robbed of all that is Nell Jackson. This creeps around my mind, plaguing it. Never for long though, swiftly replaced with the joy that I know she’s only a few streets down.
Tonight, the air between Nell and myself doesn’t feel so thick. Tonight, our souls feel like they’re reaching out, making our bodies reach out too. This bliss with her is nice but worry is quickly filling my mind again.
“Nelly Jackson we really need to get these wounds cleaned up, yeah?” And with a brief, but noticed eye roll, I pull away and move towards the nightstand.
I reach into the bowl of water Roxy had put in here earlier with a cloth, and luckily the water was still lukewarm. I soak the cloth and make sure to ring it out enough to not drip everywhere. As I step back over to Nell, she’s got her back slightly slouched but face looking up waiting for me to tend to her. I start with her forehead. A nasty hit that happened many hours ago now, dried and crusted blood come off as I wipe the wound. She winces a bit.
“I’m sorry.”
She grabs my wrist in front of her face. “No need for that aye? You’re doin’ me a favour.”
“Yeah, well no, well... I’m just lookin’ after ya’, you know.” I say darting from one eye to another. “Looked like you took a good beatin’ back there I ain’t ever seen anybody thrown around as much as you and either lived to tell the tale or got up and walked away like you did.” I babble in one breath, still looking down right at her with what I can only presume is an expression of astonishment.
“Yeah… well… Billy saved me.” She mumbles.
“Billy?”
“Doesn’t matter, the point is… I don’t know what the point is but I made it out, yeah? And Poynton’s, well, he’s dead and now Sofia and Thomas are going God only knows where, but away from here. The Queen’s safe, Charles isn’t gonna get hanged so I guess the point is it all worked out?” Nell spits this out, jagged and almost like she’s trying to prove a point. But her tone sounds like a question.
“Yeah. Everyone’s safe. So why don’t I feel like you believe that?” I query.
“Doesn’t matter okay just leave it alone.”
This makes it loud and clear she’s done talking about this subject, so I widen the distance a little, but continue wiping down her face. She’s looking off to the side, just staring at the beams that line the roof. But I’m watching her, still, and I notice she’s in more discomfort than she’s letting on, and much more discomfort than a few cuts on her forehead and cheek are worth.
“Where does it hurt?” I ask. She spins her head back to me, a look of shock but quickly accepts that we have a way of reading each other.
“ ’ere.” She points to her right side. “And my back.”
“Can I have a look?” I ask gently, my hands slowly moving towards the hem of her shirt. She nods at me, reassuring me that this is okay, and I slide the white linen shirt over her head, careful not to bump the wounds.
At the first glance I shudder and let out an ‘oooow’ sound. She has a quick peek too but quickly looks away as if that’ll make it hurt less. With a proper look from myself (who is not a doctor), her right ribs are a deep, unsettling purple, the skin grazed and scabbed. I cast her a worrying glance, more directed towards wishing she wasn’t in this pain right now.
I refresh the cloth, then crouch in front of her, and with a feather touch, I clean it. Now, I’m mostly deeply focused on cleaning the wound and not causing more pain. But I’m not so focused that I don’t notice her looking very directly down at me. This, admittingly, makes me quite nervous. I feel a sudden tension, thick, and I’m urged to break it.
“You know I’d take your pain if I could right now…” I look up at her, eyes flicking between the task and her own encompassing eyes, and earnestly I say “I’m sorry you’re goin’ frew all this.” Nell stays silent after this, which has been of no help to me to cut the tension.
After I do the best I can, I crawl onto the bed and place myself cross-legged behind her. Again I wince at the sight of the injury but I don’t let her hear or see it. I want to do whatever I can to calm her. I pick up her ponytail and brush it over her left shoulder. I presume doing this has tickled her shoulder, because I notice an array of goosebumps growing on her shoulders and arms, particularly noticeable with the angle of the light beaming in the room. With the cloth around my hand, I start with the outside of the bruises and grazes and work my way to the middle of them.
We spend more minutes in silence. This time a comfortable and easy silence. I think we both find each other’s company mostly easy, when we don’t think about it too much.
Once I finish delicately and meticulously cleaning her back, I lean forward and place a kiss behind the last swipe of the cloth. A natural action, I find. But at this, she turns her head and torso back and just gawks at me. The eye contact feels intrusive but a welcome intrusion into my soul.
Nell leans closer in, just inches from my face, excruciatingly slow, and in this moment I’ve lost all concept of time. My thoughts run very fast, but some I catch are lips, soft, eyes. And God she looks so beautiful, bare shoulders in this low light, lips slightly parted, hair draped over one shoulder. I wish I could stare at a painting of that forever. These thoughts are very probably my last tether to composure because my body is leaning forward very quickly and pressing my lips against Nell’s full lips. We both relax into it quickly, and yet I quickly pull back.
“Sorry,” I whisper, fingers brushing my own lips in disbelief. An action you wouldn’t normally do in front of the person you just kissed and yet I have, because I think I’ve lost any sense of self-control. Before I’ve finished gathering a thought on what I’ve just done, Nell plants her own lips firmly on mine again. Instinctively, my hands move around, one planting at the nape of her neck and the other resting at her waist. The feeling of her skin feels divine.., magic.
I notice her hand, cold fingertips buried within my skirt running circles on my thigh. Yet again I’ve lost all senses. After who knows how long, we part. Our foreheads are firmly pressed together, guided by her hand on the back of my head, and we are panting hot breaths into each other’s mouths.
“I’ve thought about doing that a lot,” Nell admits, a smile of relief filling her face. There’s a warmth back in her eyes for now. No more distant stares.
“Hah, me too Nell. More than I’ll admit for now.”
“Thanks for lookin’ out for me. Don’t know what I’d do without ya’.” She huffs out.
“I’ll always fix you up.” I respond. I hold eye contact with her, so she’s assured that if anything serious comes outta my mouth, it’ll be this. I grab her hand in her lap, keep my forehead to hers and just close my eyes. And I hope that we can stay like this forever.
I repeat in a whisper, “I’ll always fix you up.”

RA ∆∆∆ Talon Abraxas
I have given my heart to thee without wavering, O thou who art the mightiest of the gods . . .

Salvation (Kar'niss/Tav)
Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four Chapter Five Chapter Six Chapter Seven Chapter Eight Chapter Nine
Author's Note: I'm so sorry. I posted this chapter on AO3 and for some reason I forget to cross post it on my tumblr. Anyway! I hope you enjoy reading. I'm happy to be back from my hiatus.
Tav could see any number of marvelous things but watching Kar’niss spin his web wouldn’t leave her memory soon.
Kar’niss helped Tav lie back on the blanket she had given him. Her back rested on the cool wall of the cave. Once Kar’niss saw that she was settled, he asked her to extend the leg with the sprained ankle. And once she did, Kar’niss set to work wrapping the joint with thread upon thread.
No one had ever cared for her in such a manner. Tav honestly didn't know how to react as the patient rather than nurse. She lied still so she would not make the task harder on him. The spider silk was tight, but comfortable around her swollen ankle. Once Kar’niss tested the security, he skittered off to the side only to bring back the books Tav had also placed in the basket. He made a small elevation with two of the books, allowing Tav to relieve the pressure on her injury.
“You should have been a cleric. You have a natural healing ability,” Tav praised, watching as Kar’niss’ cheeks darkened in response.
“Only females can be clerics under Lolth,” Kar’niss stated, his voice low as he averted his gaze from Tav. He summoned the Dancing Lights cantrip from his locket in order to illuminate the cavern.
“You don’t worship Lolth anymore,” Tav reminded him, watching as his legs moved back and forth. “You could learn…heal the sick…protect your allies. You certainly have devoted yourself to the Absolute more than some clerics have their own gods.” She thought it over for a moment before giving a chuckle, “Except for Shadowheart. She’s given her life to…”
Tav stopped herself. She already overplayed her hand earlier with the gods comment. She almost outed a “devoted follower of the Absolute” as a Sharran cleric. And she highly doubted Kar’niss would take that information well. Quickly, she finished her sentence, “The Absolute. She’s very devout.”
If Kar’niss noticed the slip, he didn’t show it. He merely acknowledged Tav’s words. “The half elf cleric. We have seen them pray before they rest.”
“Still. You have the air of a cleric about you,” Tav continued on, hoping that he would open up.
The drider’s legs shifted once more, his head now bowing. “We will serve wherever we are called. We took pride in shepherding pilgrims to Her Majesty’s light.”
His pedipalps began to wring against each other. Even with that display, it was one of the calmest moods Tav had seen Kar’niss since she met him.
“Have you met anyone interesting?” Tav questioned, hoping to engage him in a conversation that wouldn’t result in self abasement and running away in fear.
Kar’niss’ eyes lingered up to meet Tav’s. His lips pursed and he thought for a moment before shaking his head. “No one more than the other. Lost souls seeking her Majesty’s guidance. Those that deny it were not worthy of Her.” Subconsciously, he lowered his head once more. His fingers flexed against his palms as he backed away from the beautiful lights circling the center of the space. His pedipalps curled into himself and his legs bent.
Tav wished she could tap into his mind but she was exhausted. He was not telling her everything. Instead, her gentle voice carried to him. “Come back to the light, Kar’niss.”
By this point, his body had hunched forward. At her request, Kar’niss stepped forward but still kept his face hidden, his body curled into himself. His eyes flickered up to meet Tav’s gaze.
“There we go,” Tav gently coaxed him, watching as his legs began to straighten.
Kar’niss did not respond verbally despite his own body relaxing. But he made no movement to retreat back to the shadows. Tav subtly changed the subject, “I’m a bit embarrassed to be honest.” She laughed quietly, “Not a scratch on me all day. And I stumble in a hole leaving a graveyard.”
Kar’niss quickly glanced up a hint of indignation in his eyes. Tav wondered, humorously, if he would seek retribution on the hole for harming “Her Majesty’s Chosen”.
“I must not have been paying attention. I have a lot on my mind,” Tav commented, shrugging her shoulders.
Kar’niss finally spoke even though his words were hesitant. “Mistress is Her Chosen. It’s an honor but we can see the weight it holds.”
Tav had her burdens to bear but that was her lot in life. To lead and care. She smiled, or at least attempted to. But something in her stopped the full rise of the expression.
“I’m used to the weight. Being a leader is nothing new to me,” Tav explained with no further elaboration.
She never let anyone know too much about her. Despite her empathetic, generous nature, Tav never included backstories. Especially given the tragedies that befell each one of her companions. It was never her place to reveal her own identity.
Yet Kar’niss looked at her with an unfamiliar interest in her words. He took a step closer, this time more purposeful than not. His extra eyes fluttered open and close while his original pair gazed at her. As though waiting.
Uncomfortable at the prospect of revealing more of her secrets, Tav attempted to spin the tale, “I told you that I’m the oldest child in my family. So I’m a natural born leader.” She forced a laugh that didn’t belong, one that even Kar’niss could pick up on.
“Do they serve Her Majesty as well?” Kar’niss questioned, indulging in a simple social reciprocity.
Tav was never not the best when it came to deception. That was why she let Astarion do the charming when they needed to lie their way out of a problem. What she did know was that it was far easier to remember the truth than a lie.
“My brothers and sisters are scattered to the winds. Some may have taken pilgrimage but I could not tell you with certainty,” Tav vaguely explained.
Thoughts of her siblings led her to think of caring for them which led her to think of the group. “I need to get back to camp,” Tav stated, suddenly preoccupied with the tasks that needed completion. She set her hands on the ground and attempted to raise her body.
As quick as lightning, Kar’niss rushed to her side, chirps vibrating in his throat. “Mistress, forgive my insolence but I must insist upon your compliance. You need to rest,” Kar’niss implored. His pedipalps twitched anxiously before stilling.
Tav waved off his concern, “I can rest another day. I robbed a gravesite today after all. I have plenty of inventory to go through and clean.”
Kar’niss grumbled uneasily before his eyes lit up with excitement, “We can bring the spoils of war to my mistress.” His abdomen began to vibrate with anticipation, something Tav had not seen before.
Tav indulged him. It was a fair compromise afterall. “Astarion knows where my bag is. If you can fetch it from him-“ She couldn’t help but chuckle when his abdomen quivered once more, “And bring it to me, that would be a large help.”
Excitedly, Kar’niss tilted his head down in a low bow before skittering away. “Your command is my edict,” He declared at the mouth of the cavern, slipping away from her line of sight.
***
Kar’niss’s heart pounded excitedly as he left Tav alone to recuperate. He would prefer it if she rested. But Kar’niss was okay with indulging her if she insisted on some light work.
Once outside of the cavern, Kar’niss suddenly spied the human wizard encroaching on his territory. His eyes narrowed and a growl lingered in his throat.
“Ah! Hello there! I apologize for coming by unannounced,” Gale vocalized politely with a wave of his hand. “I’m in search of our leader Tav. She’s a stickler for her routine and it’s not typical of her not to be in camp at this hour.” He smiled at Kar’niss which only agitated him.
Kar’niss huffed, his eyes glancing back to the cave. He honestly hoped that his monstrous form would keep any interlopers away. Gale’s loyalty to his mistress was to be commended. The drider looked back to Gale.
“Mistress is recuperating. Her ankle needs rest,” Kar’niss explained, hoping it would ease the paramour’s nerves.
Instead, Gale frowned in concern, “Oh! Then I best check on her. Healing is not one of my stronger areas of magic-“
“Then your presence is not required,” Kar’niss replied curtly.
Gale and Kar’niss were at an apparent impasse. The two locked eyes and Kar’niss gave the wizard a stern scowl.
“Perhaps it’s not required but I doubt it would be unwelcome,” Gale retorted, smiling once more, though more tight and forced than before. And with that, he walked past Kar’niss into the cavern.
If Tav’s paramour wanted to see her, Kar’niss had little choice but to let him go. As long as it wasn’t the Pale Elf. Kar’niss gnashed his teeth at the thought of Astarion intruding in his lair. He secretly hoped Tav would scold Gale for bothering her. Maybe Tav would allow Kar’niss to physically punish Gale for overstepping. He would be more than happy to sew the chatty wizard’s lips shut.
Such hope was diminished when Tav’s pleased greeting to Gale echoed in the cavern. Disappointed but not surprised, Kar’niss continued on his way to camp. He could hear the conversation from the camp.
Loud boasting of feats of strength followed by a jarring howl of laughter. The female warriors were indulging in battle stories. Kar’iss took care to step easily through the trees. He would catch Astarion’s attention, retrieve the bag of items, and return to his mistress posthaste.
***
Astarion hoped that Gale would walk back to camp with his tail between his legs. Instead Astarion was disappointed to find that Kar’niss was the one coming into the camp. Well, this wasn’t quite the way he envisioned the evening. But he could still work with it.
“I know you’re there. And the others know you’re lingering like a lover’s perfume around camp. You don’t need to hide behind a tree,” Astarion pointed out, catching the gaze of multiple eyes in the shadows.
Kar’niss growled, walking forward enough so Astarion could see his face. “Not in the mood for gawking. Not when Mistress demands a task to be fulfilled.” He nearly puffed his chest with pride as he declared the last sentence.
“You don’t have to call her mistress, darling. We all call her Tav,” Astarion pointed out only for the drider to sneer in response.
“No proper respect for Her Majesty’s Chosen. Fickle worshippers,” Kar’niss scolded, looking at Astarion as though he was dirt on the ground.
Rightly annoyed, Astarion knew he wouldn’t feel guilty about any of what he would say next. “Well then, what’s this task the Mistress will knight you for completing?”
“Mistress requests the bag that contains the spoils from the graveyard,” Kar’niss stated with all the pomp and circumstance of a courtier.
Astarion refrained from rolling his eyes. Nodding, he reached for Tav’s bag. The patched satchel was almost full to bursting with trinkets. Tav had the tendency to pick up anything no matter how visibly useless. Present company included.
Kar’niss reached for it but Astarion held it just out of touch. “Oh, one more thing, darling,” Astarion replied with a false smile not reaching his eyes. “Did you happen to see Gale?”
By the irritated scowl on Kar’niss’ face, Astarion figured the wizard made it to the cave. “Oh, well then, I suggest you get comfortable. They’ll be rather engaged for a while. You know how long winded our dear wizard is like. And Tav, darling she is, indulges him each and every time.”
Kar’niss’ eyes flashed with agitation, “Mistress needs her rest. Not listen to inane, pointless prattling from a male.”
“Oh darling, you don’t know do you?” Astarion teased with a delighted smirk.
