I don't know where Instagram Reels decided along the way that I'm a religious mother fighting to keep men manly. I just got a video that was "bring back strong men, feminine soft women, present and protective fathers, nurturing mothers, and families built on God." Look straight white millennial woman who names her kids horribly spelt adjectives, there's a 50% chance that God is real, but 100% chance of one of your kids seeing that and wondering where that present father or nurturing mother was. No one happy and healthy is so desperate to prove it. This woman's whole account is shaming single women and telling them that they're unlovable. Why do you think most women are single? Is it A.) if you ask me. being a good storyteller and love are inherently entwined. you cannot tell a good story without loving the people in it and loving those you tell it to. because to tell a good story is to understand it and its impact. to love is to understand how something moves through others and how to deliver it the way it would be best received. and how to breath life into something that did not exist before. storytelling is an act of creation sure but i do believe in all creation, there is love too. that there must be

It was weird going to catholic school and not being catholic or in any way religious. Like I got to ignore and forget about 99% of the doctrine and managed to come away with ‘God dosnt exist, but also he loves you so much. Just pure unadulterated, unconditional love, no matter how you are or what you do. He can see every part of you and all he does is love you.’ and that is kind of a nice thought to have sometimes.

Something I find very interesting about the character design in Dungeon Meshi is that the artist clearly puts a LOT of work into drawing people who look like normal people and since we, the audience, are so starved for that in Popular Media(bcs the current trend is drawing men and women so differently it's like they're a completely different species) unless they have a beard or visible tits no one has any idea what gender half the characters are.

Like I keep seeing people think Kabru and Chilchuck and Thistle are women and at first I was like "haha yeah same" but when I thought about it I was like...nah they just look like normal dudes, I know men irl who look like that, we're just so used to Hyper Masculinity being forced upon all male characters and Hyper Femininity on the women that when we see characters who look like average humans we have no idea how to process it.

And tbh I'm honestly glad that this manga has not only given us normal looking women but also normal looking men bcs fr I didn't realize how rare that was until I was faced with it. Male characters really do get forced to perform the most extreme form of their gender in popular media because of toxic masculinity and it's nice to see something break the mold.

Time for a blog post... about time.

People mistake eternity for forever when they are two very different things. Something that lasts forever, lasts until the end of time. Where as something eternal is not in time at all. It’s outside of time. Which means it has to be outside of our universe because as well know from SF shows and books, the universe is made up of space-time. Where I find this interesting is in the context of religion. They always say that God is eternal, but that essentially means that God is not in our universe (if the dude even existed, which is a whole other post). I then have serious trouble believing that anything outside of our universe can affect anything in the universe. Sure, if the universe is a speck of an atom in a coffee cup then that coffee cup could be knocked off whatever cosmic desk it sits on, fuelling its owners writing, or run over by a car and the universe would be destroyed. But actually influence anything within the universe? Highly unlikely. Scientists have been discussing this very thing. So basically, if God is eternal he can't do shit. So religion is pointless.

Reasons time seems to be moving faster all the time:

1. As you live longer, each day and each year is a smaller percentage of your lifespan so it actually becomes relatively shorter. When you were 4 a year was a quarter of your life! Now it’s a lot less.

2. Things are less new. So all the familiar stuff you do on autopilot and let’s face it most of the stuff you do now is on autopilot. When you click out of it where did the time go?? When you were young your brain had more to process and so days seemed more dull and longer

3. We have lots of ways of marking the passage of time and we pick up more as we get older. Oh it’s payday already? Yay! Oh it’s bill day again? Full moon again already? Period again so soon? Each time you remark like that you’re telling your brain that time is getting faster

4. Time is actually getting faster as we collapse into the end of days and the heat death of the universe.

a BIG part of the lore of Dungeon Meshi is how ageism is bad. About how the long lived races treat the young lived races like children and thus infantilize them and do not show them the respect and understanding they deserve simply because of their looks or short life spans. Whether its because to them they look like children in their eyes (like half foots and gnomes) or because the adult ages of the younger lived races are still in the child ages for the longer lived ones and so they get treated/viewed as children (we see otta receive comments about getting with minors when in reality she dated adult half foot women. so we already see this view towards things like this are a thing in the lore) We see this with chilchuck, senshi, and marcille where the two later view chilchuck as a child and treat him like one even though he is a full grown man who drinks (and is supposed to have grey hairs) all because he looks young and in the newest episode its revealed he is 29 which is still young children to the two of them. We see how perspectives that characters are children because of their age being a childs age for a different race as opposed to their race or because they look like children is a completely infantilizing and disrespectful behavior that causes so many problems in the long run. a theme that is completely flying over the average tumblr users head.

you absolute fool you missed a major theme of the fucking story. But because they look young suddenly they are children? have you paid no attention to the story? did you just ignore how the ageisim and weird mindset about ages like that causes so many issues that could easily have been avoided. and as for the age one i see people getting furious at others for being into and sexualizing izutsumi even though she is a year past adult in tall man years, but because she isnt in the adult age range in real life (wild your applying real life society standards to a fictional medieval fantasy world). even though even in lore she would be well an adult able to get married and everything tumblr really does have the media literacy of a toddler.

The character assasination of Lila being more happy to see the family than five. FIVE survived an apocalypse and a deranged bureau for 46 years so he could fight his way back to save his family FIVE. isn't happy to see them after getting lost against his will for 7 years.

Like he thinks the cleanse is over and done with he thinks he's coming back to peace and his family happy and together and Lila is more excited to see them than him? Five who has traversed space and time for his siblings, who has outrun apocalypse after apocalypse after apocalypse for them. and 7 years is enough to destroy all that make him wish for a time without them?
