Imagine the angst potential if Connie found the Reclusa egg at the lighthouse instead of Cozette. Would she put on the Zokket mask or would she be able to resist?

I actually personally believe the mask was made by cozette herself! She seems to be pretty handy when it comes to scraps given how she made an entire seemingly sapient species, imparted language upon them too... And not to mention the massive fuckoff fortress (although the extension corps probably did most of the heavy lifting for the fortress itself, given how its similarly designed to their lab on slippenglade!)

BUT IN A LESS LITERAL SENSE..

Mulling it over, connie could have either had a fighting chance or none at at all; because i am currently torn between the dialogue from cozette and the great conductor, the great conductor implies she possibly had a vulnerability inside her that perhaps made her susceptible. Cozette says the second she found the egg she was there no longer. That there wasnt a fight.

Thusly I have came to the conclusion that Cozette couldnt fight because of the probable stress and insecurity letting her mind be malleable. Also being a STRONGLY desirable candidate. Wattanist, intelligent, capable.. the making of something absolutely dastardly. With this in mind I dont think the message of the game would have hit as hard if it *was* connie who had found the egg, she was only a wattanist in training after all. Cozette likely could have stopped her from bringing down the tree.. that was her mantle that was her burden to bear, she was Atlas holding up the world and he made her drop it.

BUT TO FINALLY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.. i personally believe Connie couldve had a fighting chance, shes young. Just a child after all... Her body wouldnt be as suitable for the work reclusa needed to be carried out, he can afford to be a little picky about his chosen Apocalypse harbinger. (although that might not be a factor given how warped zokket is in comparison to cozette..)

...but Connie also seems to have a stronger will than cozette, tighter connection to the bonds she makes with others. although i'll have to double check my facts- ...nevermind it only has her dialogue from the start of the game! Delightful! (Sarcasm)

God. Me too. I hit myself with the beam all the time. Both her and zokket deserved more screentime tbh. and i am not joking.

zokket definitely not as pressing, i just think im just getting greedy here. I loved every moment he was present and i understand he isnt really the type to actively steal the show. Im just salty i dont have a nice little gif for my discord pfp (/silly).

But Cozette is obviously more of a crime in how little screentime she gets compared to every other major character, like i get the flashbacks existed but like. Its to the point there is like. Crumbs of cozette fanart. Absolute CRUMBS.

i need to see her exist beyond flashbacks and i NEED to see her exist haunted by her 'transgressions' MORE. I crave more of her presence.

I love your Cozette art! You make her look so badass and tragic

i try my best to do her justice!! well, i try to do every character i draw justice but her especially because she is incredibly personally deeply relatable.

aaaaaand i really just havent been able to get her nor zokket or reclusa out of my head as of late... i have been combing over all 3 of their wiki pages daily. im not normal!

Heres a little addition to my response i had a little think about: i was spitballing with someone over the idea of how some good story appropriate connie/cozette "what if" angst scenario could go instead, possibly connie being snapped up by one of those dream flowers (i dunno if they have an official name i just made one up for ease of reference) as so many other important characters do, (if reclusa didnt just fuck around because why would he have to take this shit seriously, this is light work and the easy part for him.. usually. If he had reason to think he COULD lose i strongly believe he wouldve went for connie.) so cozette would have to cooperate with the brothers. I think it would give them leverage to tell her she cant do this alone, that doing this alone is asking for disaster. Two Wattanists down would mean Concordia is completely screwed forever and ever. After all, she isnt stupid.

And she cares about connie, all of Concordia but especially connie since again, she was raising her to be the next wattanist in her stead. Her closest personal connection. This would hurt her BAD. to know that she is the only one who could fix this, that she made way to cause harm to someone she directly and personally cares about.

The ending of brothership wouldve had to be longer, a lot more talking and quiet uncomfortable conversations. Not just talking her out of going alone but asking her to redeem herself by coming with them directly. For her to get over the guilt, get over the need to *atone* in self destructive ways.

And i have reason to believe that in this scenario she breaks. Shatters like glass.

Oh damn!! That would be a great plot line! I never even considered what would’ve happened if the dream flowers snatched Connie up. If destroying Concordia and bringing Reclusa to reality was enough to send her on bedrest, seeing Connie gone would’ve killed her inside. It would’ve been a great plot line to integrate Cozette further into the story. At this point we’ve seen Zokket threaten Connie, and we’ve gotten attached to Connie. To see the aftermath of Cozette’s actions nearly snuff out Connie’s light makes Zokket’s line all the more threatening and terrifying. It would’ve been great to see Cozette actually work and try to ask for help since her going at the Wattanist’s duty alone is what got her and Concordia here in the first place. And we would’ve gotten interactions between Cozette and the Extension Corps like how would they feel about her (and Cozette remembering their names). It would’ve definitely make Brothership memorable too and make beating Reclusa’s face in very satisfying. Plus we could’ve gotten Cozette explaining why traditional methods like cutting the stem couldn’t work (ie: it would shut off the victim’s brain and leave them brain dead or just plain dead. You have to target the person from the inside). Plus we could’ve seen Cozette and Reclusa duke it out as Reclusa can reveal why Cozette fell for it in the first place.
