Someone on Neocities told me yesterday he's playing Shining Force for the first time following my translations, and you can kinda imagine the impact this had on my ego, so i rushed to finish a few more scenes that I consider important:

The intro (prologue and meeting Simone)

Darksol's jerkass moment above from Chapter 8 (this one had mistranslations last time I posted it, do check it out again, I'm a stronger person now)

The epilogue with Simone

With this, I'm fairly sure I've done all the important story beats, we're just missing a lot of NPC dialogue of course, and a few less relevant battle moments. At the very least, I don't remember any emotional moments left out by now, so my main goal is done. Not sure I'd ever commit to a complete translation one day because it's daunting, so we'll see.

So I wanted to ask, since you mentioned you were going the epic route for the bitter water AU in your notes…. Is it gonna be more than 12 chapters and some 100k monstrosity? Either way I’m loving bitter water AU and I will take any version of it I can get because it’s so so good

i think my favourite thing about Aziraphale this season is that his portrayal here shows so much of his stubbornness and refusal to stop BELIEVING. Like believing in the complete, irrefutable goodness of god and heaven and believing that being on the side of good will keep them safe, even though he CAN'T and he DOESN'T. Not only in the scenes with Job's children or his diary entry, its honestly best done in THE kiss scene. His running theme is that he's so desperately fighting to BELIEVE, even when everything is pointing to him not being able to. He wants to believe Job's trials are going to end up good, but at the mention of literally killing the children its so obvious he CAN'T. And like, he wants Crowley to be an angel, to not have to be on a side where they're lonely or god forbid be on opposite sides again, but he CAN'T. The running theme is that the only thing in the world Aziraphale wants is to BELIEVE in something again. Be it in good or in true safety for him, Crowley and, humanity. To believe in the goodness of heaven and to believe that if he and Crowley were on the side of Good, everything would work out.

I’ve been meaning to do WIP Wednesday for aaaages and I always forget. It’s not actually Wednesday yet, but oh well! I have been working on this fic for over a year, and I think I am in the home stretch. Here is a snippet from early on. 

Draco had got barely halfway across the Entrance Hall when it happened. He felt the Trip Jinx round his ankles before he saw his assailants, and he went sprawling hard onto the stone floor, the wind knocked out of him, his wand spinning away to clatter out of sight and well out of reach. He lay on his front, coughing and gasping with ugly laughter ringing in his ears.

"Nasty tumble, there Malfoy," jeered someone behind him. "You want to mind where you're going, or you could hurt yourself."

Draco pushed up onto his hands and knees, still trying to get his breath. There was no way he could reach his wand before they jinxed him again; he hadn't even seen where it landed. He never was any good at muggle duelling. He got one leg under him, bracing himself to be knocked flat again, and heard a shout from above him.

"Protego!"

The jinx bounced off the Shield, and Draco got to his feet under its protection. Harry Potter was striding down the marble staircase toward them looking like a thunderstorm. Halfway along he stooped and picked up Draco's wand. He hardly glanced at Draco as he passed him and marched up to the little knot of seventh years picking themselves up from where they'd been hit by the rebounding jinx.

"Think it's funny to knock people down, do you, McClaggen?" snarled Potter, glaring up at the biggest of the lot.

"Oh don't get your wand in a knot, Potter. It's only Malfoy," said McClaggen in the sort of tone you might use to say 'It's only a slug.' "No love lost there, eh?"

"It doesn't matter who it is! We're not doing things like that anymore," Potter said furiously.  "We just got done with a fucking war, and you want to keep fighting? You lot want to keep it going just for fun? Well, I don't, and I better not see you do that again! Now clear off!"

"You can't tell m--"

"Too fucking right I can! Now get back to your common room!" And, perhaps because Potter was Head Boy, perhaps because he looked like he could spit nails,  or perhaps simply because he was Harry Potter, they did clear off. Potter watched them go, then turned to Draco. He still looked quite angry, but he was clearly trying to gather himself, "You okay?

mm probably (definitely) going to have to split this chapter of star wars au in half because it’s hit 40k and it’s not quite finished with me & i feel like… 40k is an obnoxious chapter length and it’s a nightmare to format and i have a neat stopping point so yeah will probably edit it today & post it tomorrow & then just finish slotting together part two so yay this is not interesting but it is happening so i figured psa or something feel free to ignore me

the thing is. yeah kendall feels like his whole life now is worth nothing. the one thing he was always meant to do, since he was seven years old he now cannot do. he will never get to do it. so he might as well die, right? he might as well end it all but the thing is life is never that kind nor generous. so i think kendall will try and fail. and he’ll try again and again but the world will keep its grip on him and eventually he’ll just stop trying. and yeah maybe he’ll never be a whole person (we’re nothing) maybe he’ll take logan’s advice and collect sports cars or write a book or start a new company but either way he’ll be forced to start anew. kendall logan roy died it’s just kendall now. and this outcome in itself is generous in a way because circumstances out of his control have kind of forced him to hold some accountability for his own life finally instead of counting on broken promises his father made him at 7 years old. he’s actually being forced to Be instead of just living up to someone else’s name. and he actually has people around him who still undoubtedly care. he’s sick and horrible and twisted but he is still ultimately lovable. he is still a human being weeping on the dirty ground even though he has spent so long trying not to be. even though he recanted the very thing that made him Real. the world will simply not relinquish its hold on him! tragic but somewhat hopeful in a way
