Unit Teambuilding - Marlon

Fun fact: in my initial Gauntlet run, Marlon was the key difference between victory and defeat for my Lysandre of the time against Azelf, so I actually have one (1) positive memory of this dude and kinda wanted the best for him.  And now that the grid is here...sure.

General Overview Okay tell me if you’ve heard this one before: he’s a support common with some really interesting tools that only can be justified by an EX he doesn’t have.  Recuperation 1 and Team Sync Cure aren’t too bad, but they’re so unjustified.  What he does have is X Def All, and Barricade Buddies.  It’s not ideal by any means, but he can buff both defensive stats.  You know, just not as well as BP Morty, a free unit that’s almost a year and a half old.  First Aid also means he can heal once, but the interesting option is Team Pinpoint Entry.  I’m going to make a broad, sweeping statement and say that this should’ve been a niche, but accuracy is never allowed to actually stop someone, so it winds up being pretty useless.  Still, there are situations where you can make it something only he can do, and god as my witness I will be making that attempt.

Team 1: Marlon, Ghetsis, Lucian This team comp has like no wiggle room.  Marlon’s Pinpoint Entry is ideal for Ghetsis, who otherwise always runs into potential accuracy issues with Glaciate.  Lucian is the ideal partner, debuffing physical attack and special defense for Ghetsis’ multipliers and natural damage, and critically boosting speed for this otherwise slow putzes.  Notably, Marlon has the cursed Rock Tomb, but this time as a blessing.  He can debuff speed for Ghetsis’ natural multipliers.  It’s specific, but he makes it work.

Team 2: Marlon, Archie/Cyrus, Winona This is another with minimal wiggle room.  Even at max, Cyrus has Hydro Pump accuracy issues.  Archie can fix his, but it’s rather out of the way, in my opinion.  As a result, Team Pinpoint Entry is a nigh-ideal pick for them, making Marlon a very safe bet, who can even offset Archie’s defensive debuffs and make Cyrus tanky.  Alternatively, if you don’t need Barricade Buddies, you can take Rain Gear 2, and really help Marlon tank in these Rain-centric compositions.  His trainer move applies Endure, so between Rain Gear, First Aid 2, and Endure, he’ll be a fairly solid support.  Note, however, that Winona is required over Tech Blastoise or May.  Because you need speed.  Marlon is slow.  Archie is slow.  You need someone buffing speed for a 4-bar spam.

Team 3: Marlon, Noland, Agatha/Kukui Anti-Azelf.  See, Marlon has natural Unbending.  And got Stalwart as part of his obvious core grid.  This means he blocks the biggest problem with Azelf.  Defense and special defense buffs with these immunities means Marlon is a great support pick against Azelf, so long as your damage dealer can handle the rest.  And by the rest, I mean “you still need to block Azelf from moving.”  Marlon can’t heal.  You need a sleep chain, or a good flinch bot that can maximize Noland’s damage.  Agatha is probably the best sleep option, since she caps her own speed and has MGR9 on Hypnosis now, while Kukui has a 50% flinch rate and leer to slow Azelf down while maximizing Noland’s effects.

Final Thoughts I like this grid.  I didn’t think I would, but there are a few things that wound up standing out about Marlon that I never would’ve expected.  He’s pretty unique, and I do like my unique units.  I do wish he had gotten a little bit more, but it’s not a bad set at all.

Mary’s presence at the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis (II)

It was a historic event for the United States: more than 50,000 people, arriving from all over the country in four gigantic Eucharistic processions, packed the stadium of the city of Indianapolis in Indiana (USA) to take part in the 10th National Eucharistic Congress, after having crossed the United States since May 24, thus forming the longest Eucharistic pilgrimage in history.

Prior to the opening of the Congress, the city of Indianapolis witnessed the arrival of the Marian procession of Canadian pilgrims from the St. Lawrence River, carrying the statue of Our Lady of the Cape as a sign of unity between the faithful of Canada and the United States.

The "Eucharistic Renewal" program was conceived following the disastrous results of a survey showing a decline in Catholic belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In it, 69% of Catholics in the country considered the bread and wine consecrated at Mass to be mere symbols of Christ's presence, while only 31% saw His real body and blood. The idea of a "Eucharistic Awakening" was launched by Mgr Robert Barron, one of America's best-known preachers and current Bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester (Minnesota), who was then Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles.

"When I was first told about the Eucharistic Renewal in 2022, I never imagined it would mean much to me," Krebs, a young graduate of a Nebraska university and participant in one of the Eucharistic Routes, readily confided to the American edition of Aleteia. "I realized through this Eucharistic pilgrimage that renewal must be taken very personally by every Catholic across the United States for this fire to spread!” Matthew Heidenreich, a mathematics student at the University of Alabama and a pilgrim on the northern leg of the route, assures us, "No matter how diverse we are, we are all part of the body of Christ." The Indianapolis Eucharistic Congress should enable each participant to return home with "a renewed passion for Christ and filled with graces to share", confided Joel Stepanek, one of the organizers. He concluded: "From now on, we will be Eucharistic missionaries."

On June 29, the Holy Father wrote a message to his special envoy, asking him to convey his benevolence to the Congress participants, and to encourage them to devote even greater worship to the Eucharist, so that they "may experience happier times and spiritual prosperity". 

The relics of the patron saints of the National Eucharistic Revival were displayed for veneration in the Indianapolis Convention Center. Participants were invited to venerate them to ask for their intercession in favor of the Eucharistic Revival. One of the relics was the veil of the Virgin Mary!

Bishop Barron on Paris Olympics Drag 'Last Supper': 'Would They've Dared Mock Islam in a Similar Way?'

The bishop of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, who is one of the most Catholic media voices, called out the theatrical opening of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris for mocking Christianity and the Last Supper, and asked if the Olympic organizers would consider insulting the Muslim faith.

“A question I would pose--we all know the answer to it: ‘Would they ever have dared mock Islam in a similar way?’” asked Bishop Robert E. Barron, who is also the founder of the “Word on Fire” ministry, in an X-post.

Barron said the enemies of Christianity are putting Christians on notice that the struggle is being fought right now:

“We should believe them,” he said. 

“They're telling us who they are,” he said. “We should believe them, but furthermore, we Christians--we Catholics--should not be sheepish. We should resist. We should make our voices heard.”

The opening ceremony for every Olympiad is always an opportunity for the host country to present its culture to a worldwide audience that could be in the billions. 

Friday’s spectacular marked the first time that the opening ceremony was not contained in the main Olympic stadium. Instead, the organizers also staged performances all over Paris by Beyonce, Celine Dion, and Lady Gaga, complemented by gymnasts on rooftops and a mysterious masked man character in 18th-century costume running through the city with the Olympic torch.

Throughout the city, the French erected statues honoring the 10 golden heroines of French history: Olympe de Gouges, Alice Milliat, Gisèle Halimi, Simone de Beauvoir, Paulette Nardal, Jeanne Barret, Louise Michel, Christine de Pizan, Alice Guy and Simone Veil.

Somehow, St. Joan of Arc, did not make the cut. 

There was also a singing and dancing drag queen segment, which seemed connected to the drag staging of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” painting. This staging culminated in the drag personification of the Greek god of wine, feasting, and frivolity, Dionysus.

One easy interpretation of that juxtaposition is that the organizers were mocking the commemoration of Jesus Christ introducing to the Apostles the transfiguration of the bread and wine at the table into the body and blood of Christ, which Catholics celebration in the Mass, with a rival deity with alternative take on wine.

“Would they ever have dreamed of mocking in this gross, public way a scene from the Koran?” asked the bishop, consecrated in 2015 after Pope Francis named him an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the titular bishop of Macriana in Mauretania.

Barron said there was no need to actually pose the question or wait for an answer.

“We all know the answer to that. I think folks, what's interesting here is this deeply secularist, postmodern society knows who its enemy is,” he said.

Barron said he had just arrived home from the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, and he turned on the TV to watch the opening ceremonies as he would any other time.

“Just a few days ago, I was in Indianapolis for the marvelous celebration of the Eucharistic Congress, 50,000 Catholics coming together to worship the Lord and celebrate the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,” he said. “I come home, and I love the Olympics.”

The Chicago native said he was also looking forward to the ceremony because he studied there.

“It's in Paris, France, a city I love--I spent three years as a doctoral student there,” he said. 

“What do I see? But this gross mockery of the Last Supper, and I won't describe it any further, just go online. It's gone viral. You can see it,” he said.

“France felt, evidently, as it's trying to put its best cultural foot forward, the right thing to do is to mock this very central moment in Christianity where Jesus and his Last Supper gives his body and blood in anticipation of the Cross,” he said.

At least one French politician, Marion Marechal, who represents France in the European Parliament X-posted her own disgust:

"To all the Christians of the world who are watching the #Paris2024 ceremony and felt insulted by this drag queen parody of the Last Supper, know that it is not France that is speaking but a left-wing minority ready for any provocation," she said.

Barron, the former rector of Mundelein Seminary at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, his alma mater, said he found it particularly disturbing that the French ridiculed Christianity because that faith tradition has been central to French culture.

“What is presented, though, is this gross sort of flippant mockery,” Barron said.

“France, which used to be called the eldest daughter of the Church--Paris, that gave us, Thomas Aquinas taught there, and Vincent DePaul was there. King Louis IX--St. Louis,” he said.

“France, whose culture--and I mean the honoring of the individual of human rights and freedom is grounded very much in Christianity--felt the right thing to do was to mock the Christian faith.”

god what a treat. The sheer angst in this album? Beautiful. Good solid beats (god bless andy hurley). LOTS of singing along when i wasn't going uphill. (also new route with less of a steep hill so early in the run). Hit my first long uphill on america's suitehearts, which honestly, worked out well. New route took me out to a point that kinda overlooks the ocean and then turns to look out at the city skyline from the top of a hill and running that during coffee's for closers did make me fall in love with the city a little more (im such a slut for skylines). What a catch into 27??? You've got to be fucking with me. I'll be honest i did forget about 20 dollar nose bleed, but what a nice surprise. I love an uptempo song feeding into the closer. SPEAKING OF CLOSER, west coast smoker i love you. Did i want to sprint the end of almost six miles? Not really!! But your eyes are blocking my star light, im the last of my kind!! Back to the musicality of it all though, folie kept me interested, kept me motivated without pushing too hard for too long. Not as distinct as the back and forth of smfs songs, more of an ebb and flow similar to mania (mania, my love, the album that started all of these shenanigans, mwah). I was looking forward to this album so much that the distance didn't really even set in until about mile five, and then 20 dollar nose bleed came on and i realized i had one more song than i thought, and that distracted me from the fact that id already been out there for five miles.

And god fucking bless the wardrobe and style department, yes this hair cut on Robin is my fav of the two and obviously they kept the masc dark leaning to cold tone clothes which just ends up in a great combo with the “””girlier””” hair cut, and by that i mean short bob and bangs are usually soft cutesy cuts for women i feel like and the masc just yes, she is boyfriend looks girlsfriend material

The recurring nightmares had made her restless for weeks on end. She couldn't understand what the source was, but she couldn't bring herself to care. Her life was situated comfortably in a place where she couldn't imagine leaving; she was dating the most breathtaking woman known to man for several months now, her father's store was running smoothly and sales were going up. Not to mention her indescribable breakthroughs towards her potions–everything almost felt surreal. 

In the witch's eyes, there was no reason to fret over a silly dream. It wasn't real and it wasn't going to happen—at least, that's what she told herself. Winona knew–god forbid she ever admitted it–that deep down, her intuition would prove her right one day. That was the day she dreaded; she couldn't imagine her life crumbling to pieces. That would be too much and too painful. 

Through the dream, she recalled vividly of the events. The first scene would always take place in her home: it didn't matter how many potions she downed to get rid of the nightmare, it would crawl back with shaking fragments and livid toxiciation. Somehow, some way, Lucy was furious with her. She couldn't remember what she had done to make her girlfriend so wrathful, but the anger was so immense, that even conversations towards the Red Sox would turn into an argument. That was what she feared; she was afraid of doing the wrong thing unknowingly to tick her off—the thought alone made Winona's heart sink. 

After the banter, there would be a fight. The witch would leave for days, refusing to talk to the red head for whatever reason immaturely. Only in seconds, the next incident would play out. In this scene, the apothecary was falling to its knees; her family was to be bankrupt, and her father was sought to be a fraud. It was an aching thought, yet somehow she found the willpower to continue. This occurrence would leave Winnie homeless and reluctant to give into empathy; she had too much pride to gravel for anyone. Still, the last phenomenon seemed to be blur to her. She knew it was horrid—rather, she savored not knowing. The Cosmos only know what withdrawal she would be going through. 

It was five o'clock in the morning again. Her head was throbbing and sweat trickled uncomfortably slow over her pale body. Winona's chest rose and fell sharply, as if she was suffocating in her own thoughts and drowning in self-loathe.

Her dark eyes darted towards the dozing figure beside her; Lucy's freckled but ethereal features stood out wonderfully in the hazy light. It was no surprise to Winona that she was the only thing that could calm her nerves during the ungodly hours of the morning. It was always so refreshing to stare at the girl, too. Words couldn't describe the butterflies–no, the pterodactyls swarming in Winona's stomach at the sight. The smooth curves of her nose, the swoop of her eyes and the crease over under her brows made the witch's heart flutter pleasantly. She could never make sense how such a celestial being was made—celestial was an understatement. The Heavens couldn't make someone as stunning like this: it made sense that she spawned from the fiery depths of Hell to become so unearthly. 

Not only was her appearance simply a gift to everyone around her, but there was no one Winona knew of that could make her legs turn to jello and form knots in her throat. Her candid and cheeky aptitude was wholly something the dark-haired witch wished to indulge in. She had no problem expressing what she wanted, how she wanted it and when she wanted it—Winnie loved that. Lucy was a mystery to her and everyone else, but she'd be damned if she were to ever lose interest in the woman. It was thrilling to even breathe her scent–how was that possible, she would never know. 

What did she even do to be blessed with Lucy's presence?

Winona caught herself smiling as her gaze rested comfortably on her girlfriend. She stayed like this for two more minutes, stare lingering longingly before deftly, and stealthily removing herself from the series of sheets. 

'She's going to leave you,' hummed the thoughts in her mind. 

Slowly, she stood up, silently making her way through the corridor and into the living room. It had been weeks since they returned to her complex in Baltimore; she was grateful that her father was away for yet another business vacation. Alone time with Lucy was the best 'welcome home' present she could ever think of. As her feet glided inaudibly against the wooden pavement, she found herself roaming into the kitchen. Often, she'd stare blankly at the countertops, deep in thought or even out the window where snow splayed itself across the pane. It was a habit she formed only a few days ago, but Winona happened to find solace in these actions. 

Tonight was an exception. This time, her anxieties welled deeply into her mind, engraving itself into the core. 

'You have no chance with her,' the voice said again, this time making her fingers twitch as she reached for the cupboards. 

"She's not." Winnie murmured to herself, retrieving the mug from the shelf and occupying her brain with fixing tea. It was humiliating to be so meek against nightmares; they weren't real–they were bogus! 

It was all in her head, she had to understand that. Nothing was going to happen; their relationship was all that she could ever ask for. Winona loved her, and Lucy loved her in return. 

Why was she spending so much time on this if it was just a dream? If she was so confident in their relationship, why would she bother becoming so fragile at illusions? It made no sense to Winona, but as much as she tried to repress her fears, she could only become so frustrated before snapping. 

“Shit,” she withdrew her hand from the kettle, hissing in pain as the burn breached her skin. Good job, Winnie. This damn thing needed to quit it. It was ruining her internally and eventually externally! 

“Baby?” 

Winona paused, her back still turned to the girl behind her. She couldn’t bring herself to face that lulling sight— it would only make her mind blank yet again. Absently, her hands clutched the handle of her cup, easing the tea bag into the liquid. 

“Sorry,” she said finally, lowering her head briefly before mustering the courage to turn and face her partner, “I didn’t mean to wake you.” She smiled gently, shoulders somewhat relaxing at her appearance. The pink tints that danced around the windows casted beautifully upon Lucy, highlighting the bridge of her nose and the sprinkles of marks over her body.  Winnie didn’t think anything else could look so divine in that second. Her eyes glazed over her expression, catching the concern and grogginess pressed onto her face. 

“No,” Lucy answered, shaking her head as she sauntered over to the witch. Her arms wrapped fluidly around her waist and Winona easily returned the gesture, letting the smaller girl codle herself into her body. “It’s whatever,” there was a terse silence before she spoke again, “I’m worried about you, though.” 

Those words alone made Winona’s content facade melt away faster than she could see possible. Sure, Lucy knew of her strange sleeping habits and devious nightmares, but whenever they seemed to talk about the subject, neither of the two would dig into matters. Had Lucy been waiting to tell this to her? 

“Mm,” was all Winona answered with, her hands gliding towards the familiar lock of hair and stringing it around her finger lovingly. “I’ll get over it eventually, I always do.” 

Yet another concise stillness coaxed the room; however, this time, it was Lucy tilting her head upwards, fixing her eyes onto hers. 

“What are you afraid of?” 

She swore, that girl knew exactly what was on her mind every living second. Her breath caught in her throat again and she could hardly strangle a response before peering away timidly. What was there to lose if she confessed? 

“I’m afraid of you leaving me.” 

Instead of another sincere pry, Lucy laughed. Her voice alone was capable of doing many things to the witch, such as shutting her eyes and pressing her mouth against the freckled forehead. The melodic cackle swayed in the air for another few seconds before Lucy had induced to strings of giggles. 

“Don’t be dense, babe. I’m never leaving you, never in a million years.” 

Before her words were able to continue, Winona swooped her head down and met her warm lips, slipping into an affectionate, yet chaste kiss. They remained like this for a minute or so, the witch being the one to pull away. Still, their skin grazed smoothly against one another and she could feel Lucy’s eyelashes batting gently across her cheeks. 

It didn’t seem to matter how many kisses they shared, there would always be the same spark that ignited her heart and flushed her cheeks. God, she loved it. 

Winnie smiled, her left hand moving up to smooth down her girlfriend’s hair and bringing her into another kiss. 

“What about a trillion years?” 

“You’ll just have to wait and find out.”

They both laughed, their bodies resuming to steer into each other and eventually onto the couch where they fell sloppily onto the cushions. Lucy rolled ontop of the witch, her hands moving up to cup her pale face and drag her lips across her features, leaving trails of kisses. 

“I love you so much,” Winona murmured, her eyes following the familiar figure around fondly with a lopsided smile. 

“I love you more.” 

The recurring nightmares weren’t so recurring after that.

Unit Teambuilding - Roxanne

I cannot believe that the first sync pair to get an EX after the common grid war was Roxanne.  You know.  The best common.  It’s legitimately hilarious.  I really like Roxanne, she’s one of my favorites, so we’re going to go over her a bit more in-depth for her EX.  Not that a ton has changed, but enough that it’s worth discussing.

General Overview Roxanne is a common blessed with one of the best traits of any unit in the game, and a horrific flaw that constantly holds her back.

Roxanne’s strength is well known: trainer move buffs Special Attack and Speed at the same time.  This is exceptionally powerful, and a trait nothing else shares.  While Roxanne has no potential to cap crit, the further we get into the game, the more offensive units tend to cap crit by themselves anyway.  Which has only improved Roxanne’s abilities.  Add to it that she can have Barricade Buddies on her trainer move, and shifts into X Def All, Roxanne covers four stats reliably.  Wide Guard is also quite powerful, blocking an AoE hit for either late-game CS, or against Sure Crits in Gauntlet stages.  Even at one use, its utility is significant.

Roxanne’s weakness is her pathetic bulk.  Which is weird, because the defensive stats are quite respectable.  It’s her HP that’s sad.  Really sad.  At 20/20, she hits 294 in both defensive stats, but only 524HP.  That is staggeringly low.  With no recovery options, Roxanne tends to get run over pretty easily.  Endurance helps her survive in CS against offensive parameters.  In Gauntlet, she can take weaker hits more reliably, but not for too long.  In every scenario, Roxanne’s emphasis is on quick clears.  If her allies don’t have the power to clean up shop, Roxanne’s team is likely to fail.

This is where the EX comes in handy.  Support EX grants double sync bonus, doubling all damage for the match.  Roxanne loves having this, as it partners especially well with high DPS units.  This includes general move damage, but as I’m learning with more options available, Max Moves are notable as well for a delete button on center when necessary.  That said, allies have to be able to reliably cap their own crit rate, which means someone like Leon, whose self-setup is butt, will not be particularly helpful.

Another quick note on Roxanne: low HP or offenses can be played around with careful teambuilding, thanks to Theme Skills.  The main one to always note is your type, which gives Roxanne a whole +60.  A Tech pair can also grant +24, which does put her above 600HP.  Add in gear, and she’s starting to look a bit more respectable.  Thing is, Roxanne’s in a rough position, because there’s only two Rock-type damage dealers that operate on special.  One of them is a mega evolution, the other can’t cap crit.  So offensive partners are rarely in her own type.  Thankfully, for Gauntlet purposes at least, Roxanne has received a wonderful tool in Lodge Steven, who can debuff special defense while kicking off three of her theme skills at once.  This is a really nice partnership that...unfortunately doesn’t work for offensive Steven because he can’t cap his crit.  Thanks, DeNA!

Team 1: Roxanne, May/Lodge Steven, Archie I feel like I would be remiss not to mention the OG.  Archie, once the god-king of the meta, was considered such because of Roxanne in particular.  Hoenn Pride gave a ton of extra firepower behind his attacks, and Roxanne was capable of boosting his needed special attack, and his gauge control through speed.  May is the original connection, thanks to her own ability to abuse Rain and kick off Archie theme skills, though Lodge Steven (or even Lodge May) are alternatives that give full Hoenn Pride benefits.  The reason this team is so relevant is that Roxanne’s EX is ideal for Archie.  Archie’s sync sucks, it has very little in its favor, but his move damage is tremendous.  Getting double damage buffs from Roxanne is pure upside for him.

Team 2: Roxanne, Giovanni/Ghetsis/Cyrus, Erika/Thorton/Winona Roxanne is notable for how well she synergizes with some of the big names in F2P: Giovanni, Ghetsis, and Cyrus.  All of them are pretty reliable at getting to capped crit now, but either need full offense support otherwise (Giovanni), have horrendous gauge issues (Ghetsis), or would really like to not shred their own HP to cap offenses (Cyrus).  Erika is a solution for Giovanni; her Energy Ball On a Roll helps set up his multipliers.  Thorton helps with anyone who needs flinch, but notably has the ability to ensure hits, which offsets Ghetsis’ otherwise sad accuracy.  Cyrus has Winona for Rain, which is the most notable outcome.  Roxanne, as expressed, loves fast clears, and Cyrus’ Hydro Pump with an EX Support behind it is For Real.

Team 3: Roxanne, Anni Raihan, P!Dawn/Classic Blue/Lance Roxanne has healing in Sandstorm on her grid.  It’s the only other spread that’s useful for her than the default.  Anni Raihan provides Sandstorm best of anyone.  Raihan is a successful sync nuker in his own right, and not a bad call for non-EX Roxanne, since he can pick up Sharp Entry to cap his crit.  P!Dawn is a safe option to debuff special defense for him.  If you’re aiming more for Roxanne to supplement, Classic Blue and Lance are great picks, because they operate on Hyper Beam DPS, and Raihan provides Moves Up Next each use of Sandstorm, in addition to what Roxanne can stack.

Team 4: Roxanne, Lysandre, Anni Skyla/Erika Lysandre is a fun option to talk about on a few levels.  On one, we have his trainer move with the boosted sync cooldown.  With any Head Start ally, he's saving a full turn on sync, and Roxanne's EX is fairly nice for his otherwise weaker DPS.  Anni Skyla rounds out a good CS core, thanks to her Zone.  On the other, we have Gauntlet, where this is likely overkill, but the two of them become effectively immortal, as Roxanne caps Lysandre's defenses and non-crit offenses, allowing him to just drain away forever.  In that scenario, you might want to aim for something weaker.  I'm referencing Erika, who supplies Paralysis and some special defense debuffs, which are solid general tools for Lysandre to make use of.

Team 5: Roxanne, Bede, Diantha/Valerie So you didn't pull SS Wally.  It happens.  Another comp I've liked using is Bede/Diantha.  Bede saves Diantha a lot of grief, thanks to his attacks debuffing special attack by 2 stages.  Both of them can also cap their own crit rate, which makes Roxanne a great pick for offenses, but also for their otherwise pitiful speed.  It's really nice for Diantha's high gauge cost.  If using Diantha, Diantha should sync.  She gains way too much power from it to let Roxanne take the first shot.  However I'd like to talk about Bede offense.  Roxanne's EX sync means double damage, including Max Moves.  Which can be pulled out at any point.   Bede now has the ability to spam Dazzling Gleam, which Valerie complements with Disarming Voice, slowly tearing down the sides with debuffs.  Bede can throw out the Max Move whenever to delete center, and if successfully held until late in the match, his own sync will provide another denial, if the sides aren't taken out by the AoE move spam.

Team 6: Roxanne, Lodge Steven, Classic Blue Did you know you can off-type with this?  Lodge Steven has Sharp Entry and Staggering 2, which means Blue’s own Sharp Entry and Dire Hit All+ caps both offensive options’ crit rate in one use.  Roxanne is then able to buff literally every stat they could need, including special defense via grid for Steven’s Brute Wits sync.  Steven fishes for flinches, which hit the entire enemy party, and Classic Blue can spam Hyper Beam due to low gauge cost and maxed out team speed.  They’re surprisingly consistent.

Final Thoughts Roxanne is one of my favorites, and if nothing else, I'm glad she gets to be one of the best common units in the game.  She's absurd.  The buffing kit is just stellar, and frankly one of her most outrageous selling points.  While there are some severe limitations, Roxanne does well enough at her role to still have a place in the game.  The EX is really just overdoing it, in some regards.  But it's great that she got it
