Parmelia submontana
This foliose lichen grows on trees in old, humid, boreal-montane forests in Europe, Africa, Macaronesia, and Asia. It is characterized but its geotropically oriented, pendulous lobes with an upper surface covered is long pseudocyphellae, punctiform soralia, and globose isidia. The lower surface is black , and has furcate, black rhizines. It only rarely produces apothecia. I have been on the lookout for this species in the German Alps for the last few years and have yet to find it, but I am sure I will someday. You can't evade me forever, P. submontana!

Pyrrhospora quernea
The world is really something right now. I know it is weighing heavily on a lot of us, and so please take this moment to just enjoy one of nature's most pure and wholesome lil guys, P. quernea. This crustose lichen has a thick, leprose, granular-sorediate thallus that ranges in color from straw to fawn to sulfur yellow. The margins are often delimited by a black prothallus. It is often sterile, but when fertile, produces red to brown-black apothecia. P. quernea grows on bark and wood in exposed sites in warm-humid and costal regions of the northern hemisphere.
