Do you think you guys can save Sunny?
Hero; "Hey OMORI..."
OMORI; "What do you want?"
Hero; "I just remembered something. Since we're working together to find Sunny...I feel need to confess something I haven't told anyone else."
OMORI; "Is it that important? I'm not your therapist."
Hero; "Could I at least tell you? I won't if I didn't trust you."
OMORI;"...Very well. Go ahead..."
Hero;"Okay..."
Hero; "I'm sorry."
OMORI;"That's it? you're sorry for what? I do not understand what you-"
Hero; "The last time I saw Sunny. When he told us about what happened to Mari...I..."
Hero ;"..."
OMORI;"Oh...I understand now..."
OMORI; "I take your reaction to finding out the Truth was...painful."
Hero; "It hurt, so much more than when we saw her in the tree. It devastated me that she ended her own life for reasons we didn't see in time. I felt partially responsible. I could have helped her. That by failing to see the signs, I failed her. That's why I became a doctor instead of a chef like a dreamed of, so I could help others...I thought I healed up enough to be able to move on and be at least happy."
OMORI; "Then Sunny confessed the that he killed her..."
Hero; "...And having those wounds be opened up again when he told us? I didn't want to believe him at first, I thought; he's suffering from memory loss from last night, he's delusional.' But he insisted it was true, Basil confirmed it too."
Hero; "After he finished telling, I-I don't know what came over me. I must have flown off the handle with him because one moment I was standing there, the next thing I know I'm being pinned to the floor by Aubrey and Kel, the last thing I saw of Sunny was him staring at me from a corner looking scared of me, and what I was going to do...or had already done to him by that time."
Hero; "Aubrey knocks me out. I woke up in the waiting room and I went back to apologize to Sunny, but...he was already gone, he'd left with his mother to go home. I couldn't even bring myself to call his new phone number I was so ashamed of myself for acting that way."
Hero;"Then we find out he was kidnapped. I doubt I'll ever get that chance to apologize any time soon where he is now, wherever he is…"
OMORI; "I see...you are regretful the last interaction you had was violent. I can...relate...to your predicament...feelings can cloud your judgement..."
Hero; "That's why I'm doing this, getting my college buddies to look, calling everyone I know to search for something, anything. And it's not only because I want to say I'm sorry for acting out..."
Hero; "...But because he's like family to us, and he doesn't deserve to be experimented on like an animal. I won't lose another loved one again...even if it kills me."
Hero; "Sunny deserved better is what I'm trying to say...only a monster would want otherwise."
OMORI; "..."
OMORI; "My entire purpose was to protect the Dreamer...and it is still my purpose to protect him...Even if he see's me as a monster. I will still protect as I always have."
Hero; "OMORI."
OMORI; "Yes?"
Hero; "Promise me, please. When we get Sunny back...if we find him-"
OMORI;"...I'll find him..."
OMORI;"I promise, I will save him."

HELLO AND WELCOME to this episode of JAKES SOAPBOX !!! where i yap on and on abt things i care abt, but likely no one else does. todays episode i will be ranting and raving abt the highly anticipated (at least for me) OMORI official manga first chapter release !! below is my highly opinionated review <3 there are spoilers for the manga, and i do discuss the prologue and day one of the OMORI game so read this with caution. i added screenshots from the manga itself as well.
this is simply a critique from the point of view of a superfan who was hoping the manga would be suitable for both old fans, new fans, and people reading the manga with no prior knowledge of the game at all. this is simply my opinion. while i compare this manga to the game repeatedly, i want to make it clear upfront that i wasn't expecting this to be a cookie-cutter remake in manga form of the game. i believe that it's lacking some important story beats and pacing that makes the story as impactful as it is. enjoy
first of all, i was ECSTATIC when i saw the promo for this. i am OMORI's biggest fan forever and ever, so god knows i was sitting and (im)patiently waiting for this to come out. however, upon reading the first chapter, i can't say i'm a huge fan. i will say that i am the type of person to view content regarding my favorite things with the most insanely rose tinted glasses, however that wasn't going to save my first impressions of the manga from scrutiny. tl'dr, i was really disappointed.
now my first complaint: pacing. to start with the beginning, i do really like how it starts off with the same dialogue as the game does. the art is simple, yet extremely effective when it comes to portraying the overall "vibe" of OMORI, which is something that carries on throughout the first chapter and i'll talk about it more later. however, i'm really not a fan of how the story begins. the first three pages are showing this dream sunny is having, a contorted memory of a christmas spent with his friends, ending with a horrifying and distorted image of mari begging sunny to "tell her why".
now, my issue with this, is that the story is now lacking a very important aspect that made the original so much more impactful: a foundation. in the game prologue, we are introduced primarily to the whole group, all of the fun-loving and sweet characters all living happily in headspace- INCLUDING mari. it was meant to establish two very important things about sunny: A) headspace is a safe, fun place where all of his friends are, but something isnt right and B) the real world is NOT where he wants to be, it's scary and reminds him of something he doesn't want to remember. yet the way the manga is paced, it skips all of that. we are immediately thrust into the real world as sunny wakes up to get himself the steak from the fridge, where again, we are robbed of another crucial detail: sunny does NOT want to go down the stairs in the dark. in game, when sunny tries to leave his room, he doesn't allow himself down more than one step of the stairs. before i get ahead of myself, the artist did include this panel (right to left)
Tumblr media
which i think wonderfully portrays sunny's fear of going down the stairs. the wobbly lines and darkness coming out of the piano room is great. however, this comes after sunny has already come down the stairs and eaten the steak, and seems to be more centered around him being afraid of who was at the door. which, in my opinion, also holds even less weight as the original mari door jumpscare wasn't included either (which is a whole other can of worms), which was an actual deterrent from the player opening the door for kel in game.
(this leads me to another, much more nit-picky complaint: but that is the specific pacing of this page specifically:
Tumblr media
which occurs after sunny goes back upstairs to throw up the steak he ate in the bathroom. the panels, while aesthetically pleasing and visually descriptive towards sunny's paranoid thoughts, aren't really showing me what's going on. he slams the bathroom door shut, seemingly does nothing, and is suddenly back in the kitchen cleaning his knife. but for some reason, the kitchen is upstairs, rather than downstairs, which is where we get the panels of him being afraid of descending the stairs. i feel that this was an unnecessary change, and could have been avoided by sticking to the original planning of this segment. but again, this is just a small nitpick that doesn't really mean anything.)
speaking of kel at the door, this is another reason why the lack of a headspace prologue in the very beginning is frustrating. as of now, the reader has no idea who kel is, or what he really means to sunny. sure, we saw him briefly in the dream sunny has, but he says one thing, and that dream lasted 3 pages. two, of which, didn't show anyone besides mari or sunny at all. in the prologue, kel is shown to be very protective and caring towards sunny, notably staying by his side and making sure sunny isn't alone for too long when being "it" during the hide and seek minigame, and overall establishing that he (and the rest of the friendgroup, might i add) was an important person in sunny's life. knowing this, then hearing mom's voicemail about how kel has been trying to reach sunny all this time, and THEN hearing him call out to sunny at the door, makes seeing kel in the real world for the first time a meaningful experience. we understand why kel is so excited to see sunny come outside. but in the manga, to me, it feels so rushed. when playing through the story, you're in headspace for a good 3-5 hours before you even enter the real world, or have the chance to open the door for kel. in the manga, it feels lackluster.
this leads to the faraway town scenes. kel and omori make their way to faraway town, which is full of the typical headspace cameos that the reader won't understand due to the lack of the headspace storyline. when in hobeez, kel mentions how the store is the same, featuring "captain spaceboy games" and "sweetheart movies", which would mean a lot more to the reader if they saw the group dig through spaceboy's junkyard and battle him at the end, or sneak through sweetheart's castle and confront her on stage. these are small nitpicks, but the biggest issue for me is that during this segment, kei and sunny are going to hobeez to buy hero a gift. but yet, the reader doesn't know who hero is. there isn't that moment of realization that hero, alongside kel, is a real person in sunny's life, not just a figment of sunny's imagination, and he's old enough to be in college. there's no emotion there. they pick out the same cookbook, but the reader has no idea why this holds significance. in the game, we all know hero as the chef, the cook that heals the team with his snacks and his frying pan fighting skills- but the reader doesn't know why hero, mentioned as a pre-med student, would even want a cookbook. these details lose all meaning without being backed up by important scenes in the original prologue.
this leads to my personal least favorite moment of the whole chapter: the confrontation between basil and aubrey. i was so incredibly disappointed by the absolute assassination of her character, which is simply because there's more missing context left behind in the game prologue. aubrey is introduced as a sweet, silly girl in the game, who cares deeply for omori and her friends, which is supposed to shock the player when meeting her in the real world for the first time. aubrey's change is supposed to make the player really question what happened to these friends, what made these kids who clearly cared so deeply for one another behave this way, and wonder why sunny (and mari's death, along with why no one wants to talk about it) seems to be at the center of it all. there is none of this extremely necessary context here. what makes things worse is that the reader also has zero idea who aubrey or basil are. while yes, they too were mentioned in the 3-page dream at the beginning of the chapter, it was for one single page with one piece of dialogue each. these characters hold no meaning here. aubrey then hits basil with her nail-covered bat, which is NOT something that happens in game. its actually kim who pushes him away, NOT aubrey, which is an important detail as aubrey never meant to lay a hand on any of them originally. the manga just paints her out to be violent, angry, and in a rush to hurt people she used to care about. while her character is extremely detailed and nuanced, i won't get too into it here as the player wouldn't know at this point, and neither would the reader.
the altercation in the manga between sunny and aubrey continues as she mocks him for locking himself away after they supposedly "couldn't save mari". this sends sunny into a spiral, aubrey swings her bat at kel, and poises to hurt sunny as well when he swings his knife at her, slicing her shoulder. the choices the artist make here are astounding, in the most negative way possible. while yes, there is a fight scene with kel and sunny vs aubrey in game, it portrayed a lot differently. its made very clear in game that sunny is very seriously impacted by his inner world to the point where he sees apparitions of space bunnies or other creatures while walking down the streets, or even the "fight" between himself and the poster inside of hobeez. this is important to note, because the player can also see the RPG fighting menu, which is extremely important to display just how out of touch with reality sunny is. he can't grasp that there's a difference between reality and his dream world. inside headspace, fighting is extremely normal. combat is a huge part of the game and the story, where the player fights bosses, smaller enemies, and gathers weapons and even toys to use in battle. that normalization where the player is USED to battle in the dreamworld, where there are no real consequences, if a character dies they can be healed or revived, comes to a screeching halt when we realize that we, as sunny, just actually slashed aubrey. the battle comes to a screeching halt, aubrey collapses after just one hit, which again, the player AND sunny isn't used to after fighting so many hard battles, and displays real pain. this is a far contrast to the manga, where we just see sunny lash out at aubrey. while it can be argued that yes, the manga is a completely different medium of storytelling than the game where we have that fighting and battle UI aspect, there are a myriad of ways the creator could have given the same effect- which could have easily been achieved by including the headspace prologue instead of jumping immediately into the real world this way.
the creator then chooses this moment to send sunny back into white space, which completely removes the interaction sunny has with basil and kel after the scuffle with aubrey. there's no walking with basil home, theres no learning about the photo album- in fact, there's no mention of basil's album at ALL, which is incredibly strange not only due to its immense importance to showing the bond between the friends, but the fact that it's a huge plot point and storytelling device.
in conclusion, i sincerely believe that this manga is a poor presentation of OMORI's story, and an incredible disappointment. leaving out the hours and hours of content before the real world is even introduced robs the manga of any substance, as the whole point of the prologue being so incredibly long was to establish a baseline for the player to become comfortable with, to allow us to get to know the characters and see how they interact, and then have that all be contorted and changed when brought into the real world. there is no established connection to the characters, the plot is ridiculously rushed, and the story feels empty and disconnected. it truly feels like the author barely knew what the game was about. i also don't feel that the artstyle in general works either, as the characters look extremely young, while the real world characters are 15-16 and the way they are drawn makes them look 12. but, i will rest my case there. i completely disagree with the flip-flopping of the story, and my expectations for the rest of this manga have plummeted to insane depths.

Headspace Basil and Stranger: A Character Analysis
Hey everyone! I've noticed a bit that everyone seems to have different ideas on what Stranger (and Headspace Basil to a lesser extent) actually represent, so I wanted to put my own interpretation out there. This post may be a little contentious, I'm not sure. Major Omori Spoilers ahead.
"When you hid the truth, you sealed a part of me away with it. He's been waiting for someone to save him all this time. On that day... when you became nothing... I was split in half. Which one do you think was more painful?"
This line is the best thing the game gives us to actually explaining what exactly Stranger is. It's... incredibly up to interpretation, like a lot of Omori, but it gives us a place to start. It implies that Headspace Basil and Stranger are two halves of the same whole, not that that idea is farfetched without this line. I often see the idea that Stranger is the manifestation of Basil's thoughts following Sunny into his dreams, but I personally think that the white egret orchids are more of a metaphorical representation of how Basil would tell Sunny everything, and how those things about Basil are readily apparent in the foundation of Headspace. I really don't think that this line of dialogue as a whole makes all that much sense in that interpretation.
I also see the interpretation floated around that Stranger represents the darker aspects of Basil's character, or the parts that Sunny didn't like, and while I think that this gets closer to the truth, it misses the point of why Basil has been split up in Sunny's mind to begin with.
Everything about Headspace is meant to distract Sunny from his guilt. But what happened to Mari isn't the only thing that Sunny is guilty for. Sunny also holds guilt for breaking his promise to Basil and choosing to shut him out and forget himself. But he's also too attached to Basil to get rid of him completely, so his mind copes with this by attempting to cut out all the things about Basil that serve as a reminder that Basil and Sunny have a special bond, and that the real Basil has been left alone when he needed Sunny the most.
This does include some of the darker aspects of Basil's character. Things like a reference to Basil having to go to the bathroom being cut out of the Headspace photo album show this, as everywhere else in the game, Basil "going to the bathroom" serves to tell the player that he's actually excusing himself to panic in private.
However, we also don't get to find out about what Basil actually said about white tulips in regards to Sunny until it's Stranger saying it, and no Basil inside of Sunny's head ever calls Sunny/Omori his best friend until you lead Stranger to the Basil that has seen the truth in the Sunny route. In the hikikomori route especially, we see that Sunny has made it so Basil confides in all of their friends, rather than just Sunny, and in the same way, his mind makes it so the entire group knows about his phobias that came from the Lake Incident, despite implications that it was only actually Basil that knew about those in the real world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We even get all of the friends getting excited about Basil taking pictures when they least expect it and wanting to see the pictures for themselves in Headspace, when Memory Lane actually shows Aubrey (and Kel, in a more joking manner) being somewhat uncomfortable with moments of Basil doing this in the Beach and Treehouse memories respectively, and Sunny is the only one seen to ask Basil if he can look at his pictures at all, even when Aubrey actually asked him to take the picture.
For this reason, I don't think that Headspace Basil is "idealized", at least not in the same way that everyone else is. I would imagine that Sunny's mind would not cut out this closeness from his "ideal" version of Basil.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in Black Space. Whenever a version of Basil remembers something from their past, what he actually says in those areas tends to downplay Sunny and Basil's bond.
In the Watermelon Area, you get Basil remembering the trip to the beach, but he only talks about Kel having watermelon seeds on his face.
In the Spider Area, you of course get the memory of Sunny telling him about the spider that landed on his shoulder during his lake incident, but Basil downplays Sunny's fear of spiders in a way that wouldn't really seem all that in character for the real world Basil to talk about the Lake Incident and Sunny's fears, but it is exactly how Basil talks about Hero's fear of spiders at the end of the hikikomori route.
In the Treehouse Area, the first thing Basil asks Omori is "Are KEL, AUBREY, and HERO here too?", and how much he's missed all of them, before talking about how hard they all worked on the treehouse.
In the Raft Area, the specific memory that Basil gets back isn't immediately apparent. However, his line about Omori acting "kind of cold" is particularly interesting. We could either take this as him remembering how Sunny used to interact with him compared to the empty shell that is Omori, or we could take this as Omori starting to get annoyed at Basil's constant recollection of things that he isn't supposed to be bringing up. However, the real meat of both this area and the previous area is that Basil tries to confide in Omori. In the Treehouse Area, he asks if he can share something with Omori with a nervous smile, while in the Raft Area, he wants to talk about something that is bothering him.
Most people assume that what Basil is trying to talk about is The Truth, but I think this is incorrect. There is only one Basil that has seen the truth, and that Basil is waiting for you in the Church of Something in the Sunny route. These Basils also aren't previous versions of Basil that have seen the truth and were banished to Black Space, as we can see that those previous Basils were killed and left in Red Space, just like the one at the end of the Sunny route. Finally, there is still dialogue in the game's code that shows that the Basils in Black Space originally were constantly trying to bring up the Truth, showing that this was specifically modified for the final release. Now, what he was actually going to bring up in either case is unknown, and I don't think it really matters all that much. Each of these Basils are reminding Sunny both of their bond and of a past that no longer exists.
Tumblr media
Presumably, this is the original Spider Area Dialogue.
Finally, we come to the Neighbor Area. Here, Basil references Omori having to save him all the time. He remembers that his photo album should have more pictures than it does in Headspace, and he rushes ahead when he notices Hero nearby. I think the first thing is interesting, though I don't personally believe that it is implying that each Basil in Black Space is intended to be the same Basil. Instead, I think it references how Basil has just generally been turned into a bit of a "damsel in distress" figure, even outside of the main plot, as seen when he gets kidnapped by Boss in the beginning of the game.
Generally speaking, Basil in these areas is acting as if he and Omori are no closer than the rest of the group. He still looks up to Omori, but Basil in both the real world and Headspace is shown to look up to all of his friends. The way that Basil puts all of his friends on a pedestal is not something that reminds Sunny of his close bond with Basil in particular, so the Headspace version of Basil still keeps this trait.
Contrast this with how Stranger is presented throughout Black Space. Unlike Headspace Basil, he doesn't have that cheerful, if a little nervous, demeanor. He is fully aware of Headspace and Black Space. Like the real Basil, he is aware of the truth, but is unable to reference it directly, due to Sunny's mind having repressed it so deeply. He's a bit cold in the way he speaks to Sunny, unlike Headspace Basil, but when you actually read his dialogue, it's almost always comes back to how close the two are:
"The truth that you've locked away... You must find it no matter what. You have to... for the both of us."
"I miss you, SUNNY. You were always someone I could depend on to listen. My problems... my hopes... my dreams... You knew them all. So if you're still there... please let my words reach you one more time."
"Is there still hope left for us, SUNNY?"
"Back then... I wanted to save what was left. But even after everything... you left me, SUNNY... I waited so long for you to come back. Even seeing you now... It's hard to think straight. I can feel my heart hurting and I want to cover my face and hide. There are so many things I want to say to you... but the words won't come out. I just... I waited so long for you too come back, SUNNY... but... you never did."
"SUNNY... The truth is here. You've been running from this for so long. But this time, we can face it together."
Even in the hikikomori route, where we see Stranger at his most vengeful, he reminds Sunny about all the times that Basil continued to try and reach out after Sunny shut him out.
That's not to say that Stranger is the "real" Basil. Both Stranger and Headspace Basil are two halves of how Sunny sees Basil, and it's when they combine that we truly see the truth. In the same way that Headspace Basil never calls Omori his best friend until merging with Stranger, Stranger never asks for forgiveness for how Basil's actions affected Sunny until they combine, because that general personality that Headspace Basil has is still part of how Sunny sees the real Basil. Neither is truly an accurate representation of the way Sunny sees Basil.
And there are some more things to keep in mind about this. Post Hikikomori route, you have Basil giving Omori the flower crown, as well as the Basil Rush. This actually reveals a bit of a conflict within Sunny's mind. He desperately wants Basil around, and without the truth being apparent, they will naturally be drawn together for the same reasons they were so close in real life. But the flower crown and Basil Rush ultimately end up forcing Sunny to confront the memory of the truth, showing that even this was too much.
TLDR; Stranger, to me, represents the aspects of Basil that are reminders of what Sunny did the night of the accident, as well as the aspects of Basil that would remind Sunny of how close the two are, so that Sunny can try to avoid his guilt for leaving Basil alone with the burden of the truth. This explains the dichotomy between HS Basil's cheerful demeanor with less of a focus on Sunny specifically and Stranger's more cold and harsh personality that consistently provides reminders of both the existence of the truth and how close Basil and Sunny are specifically. Neither are completely accurate, resulting in neither Basil apologizing to Sunny or calling Sunny his best friend until the two merge.

You work too much, from which you have broken nerves and you become more nervous and scrouble. (RW Kel, RW Hero, RW Sunny, RW Basil)
Tumblr media
Well, summer this summer, there are no studies, so now I have to be more and faster to write.
TW: GN! Reader, Angst, actions occur after the Mari's death.
ᴷᵉ
• In general, he does not quite immediately understand what your mental health is worse, physical health is worse, and even in general, what you work too much.
• First, everything was normal, he understood what you need more space, because Kel can be very bored with his hyperactivity and attention, so he will understand what you need to rest from it.
• As if he was not sad.
• He can wait a week, the second, thinking that you just tired of it, so he is trying to do everything from all this and focus on basketball and learning, even if it's difficult.
• But then it will start to get bored and he will decide you to check.
• Here, and the cycle of eternal "Sorry, I'm busy."
• Again, at the beginning it understood this, especially when you said it calmly.
• But every time of the Kel became all obsession and obsession.
• In fact, your nerves began to take more and more.
• When you finally rinse into it, it's just worth it and silent in misunderstanding.
• That's just when you are almost with tears because of nerves and with anger in the voice will rope on it, only then he will understand the criticality of the whole situation.
• After this, the cry will try to calm you, but most likely will be worse and depressed will go home, thinking about this whole situation.
• But even without looking at it, he is still going to help you, what it would not cost it.
• He loves you, so? ...
• However, directly does not start acting.
• It will begin to act within two days or three after this quarrel, say so.
• It is unlikely that it will do everything slowly and neatly, this is the Kel, the most hyperactive from the group, it is not just that it is not true.
• He will give out you with such situations as: "You have not been fed for a long time! May you walk to the Gino's pizzeria?", "Hey! Y / N! You have a lot of food in the refrigerator!" We can walk, go, will buy? "," Listen, I need it to go to where you were, and you could go, so can you go with me? " And the like.
• And if you are to be reached, then it will be accompanied by a typical: "Oh, yes okay! Go! It will be fun! I promise!", "Yes, we are quick and there, and well, all!", "Yes, okay, will not run anywhere this work!", "Please, please, please, please!".
• Well, of course, only one thing at the case of this is not limited to.
• Kel is still a day of time a walk with you, watching you, playing with you and something to you.
• During the run, more precisely the catchyon unexpected, Kel will notice that you have become much less hardless and much less quickly, which is a little alarm it.
• Also, when he suddenly hugged you during a walk, and you shaken, he will understand what is clear with you, but not to do something, you must have been saving.
• But how? You even listen to not much and want it, I'm ate ahead of walking agreed.
• So what do I do?
• What do I do to save you?
• He does not want to lose you.
• He does not want to be alone, not just again, I ask ...
• I think soon Kel will come the idea of the head, and yet, he will continue to bring you to walks and trying to restore at least your physical health and your relationship.
ᴴᵉʳᵒ
• Hero is much tossy and attentive than his younger brother Kel.
• He, of course, will immediately understand, but much faster than Kel.
• Of course, if you yourself say Hero with calmness that you need more time to your work and spaces, then Hero will do it, he will give you what you want.
• But again, long without communication with you, he will not last, because he loves you.
• Therefore, it will even try to contact you and communicate.
• But if you are all the time to say Hero about what is busy and do not have enough time, then Hero may not understand everything correctly.
• He will think that you just avoid it and communicate with him, or that's even worse, you just cooled to it and you no longer have no feels.
• From this it will have any impaired and sick feelings, as well as a bunch of terrible thoughts.
• In the end, he himself will come to you to find out everything, find out what happens to you, well, all of this all the relationship.
• The stress of work weighed on you, and many other problems were, so you can not stay in peace.
• Here you have and give the nerves, from which you with your heat quite swearing.
• Each of you stood on my opinion and dispelled with your opinion.
• After that, you just threw more duly in my studies and work, trying to qualify the feeling of guilt from your soul that so he has given a great time.
• The same story and with Hero.
• Of course, he does not immerse yourself in something that kills yourself and your relationships, but on the contrary, will begin to re-consider, to coming to one conclusion: you too earned too much.
• Unlike Kel, he will understand what is worth doing everything gently and slowly, that he does.
• First, it will just visit you, following that you do and not telling you, can talk with members of your family about you, and just communicating with them.
• After, noticing that you do not care about the gain in your home, it will start to do cleaning for you, helping you, but not yet talking.
• After, it will start to cook for you if you eat a rarely or rapidly fast food, starting a little worried about you and the straw above you, like your mother or how a restless wife over his tired and beloved husband.
• If it works, it will go out just above and further.
• But if it does not work, the throne will be instead at that stage until it is not working, and only then Hero will go to a new stage.
• But he does not surrender.
• He is not going to surrender.
• He can not lose you also as Mari lost.
• He just can not lose you.
ˢᵘᶰᶰʸ
• Later, everyone would notice it.
• We know what after Mari's death, he became a lot of sleep and anywhere did not go out of the house?
• In fact, because of this, he would notice this is the latest.
• Although, he dies between tactful attention with attention and with sleep and loneliness.
• Well, in principle, sleep wins.
• Since you often went to it, then he will notice what you have not been called at all.
• But, he will only think that you are tired of this and just take the fact that you need a rest and space.
• And only a month or even one and a half, only then he will be aware of that is unlligneous.
• Of course, immediately he does not break off and will not be genuine.
• He will be a little later, suddenly he is mistaken in his conclusions.
• Yes, even more so, while you are in his dreams, he is not much more concerned about.
• And only later, he still decide to get out of the house to come to you in the house and everything is figured out.
• When he sees a mess and garbage in your house, he will be in a small shock that he will not show itself.
• You have followed all the time in order in the house, and now you do not have a house, but a dump is something.
• But only shrugging his shoulders, he will come to you to the room.
• Seeing what you are just busy, it will exhale, since with you, in general, everything is in order.
• He just looks for you on the bed and will be stood on you while you can not pay attention to it.
• I do not know how many hours have passed from these glueds to you, but you still pay attention to the Sunny.
• It will also be surprised at your appearance.
• Snow-white skin, scratched hair, tired and red eyes, possibly bags under the eyes and beaten lips.
• Well, not as seen you last time, and it is clearly not with such a tired voice.
• However, he does not say anything to you.
• He himself does not look better.
• The same snow-white skin and a little colorful hair.
• He will not tell you anything, only embrace, but when you are departing from the embraces that are so important to him, and say that you do not have any time, it will understand everything, well, or most of this.
• Although it may not have those thoughts that are not true.
• Why are you removing from him? Did not you shy on it? There were several months, and you react so. He missed! Why are you going to behave like that? What did he do wrong?
• Honestly, I do not think that he will take something at all.
• I think he just will again take at home, again hiding from reality in the world of dreams, where everything is fine.
• This will have its consequences.
ᴮᵃˢᶦᶫ
• He is a guy in the case of a rather alarming, especially when it concerns relations, but even more particularly when it concerns his relationship, so also loves.
• He will always cling to you, so he is the most first of the whole group understand that something is unlligent with you.
• Since it is often clinging for you, then he will the world will see your strange behavior.
• Before with all circumstances, you had time for him and your relationships, and now even the mint will not have.
• Just, you have more often began to be at home and do not go out to the street, that there is coming to visit it and help.
• You have become quite nervous and even rude.
• Oh, this is all so worried about this guy.
• It almost does not belong at night and the day of the brailive from this.
• He has so a problem there is a bunch after the incident, he and everything himself on the nerves goes and from all the rusts tremble, and then there are problems with you.
• This clearly scares it from you, but not for a long time.
• In the end, he will turn the whole will and courage in the fist and will begin to act in contrast to Sunny.
• It's pretty ... tidal, but not as much as a chate.
• He will try to draw your attention to it.
• ETL can be asked you to help with flowers, dinner or even with a grandmother.
• He certainly does not insist ... but I ask, just to pay attention to it, okay?
• In any case, he loves you.
• Do not remove it!
• Do not go away!
• Do not leave it again again!
• It can roll a strong hysterical if it needs.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE ENDING OF THE GAME "OMORI" AND THE MOVIE, "NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU"!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guyyyyyyyyyyysssssssss!!!
So yesterday I watched the movie, "No One Will Save You" (I enjoyed it very much!) and the ending scene where Brynn is in the spaceship and they're probing her memories oh my goshhhhhhhhhhh!
The lighting, the soundtrack, the emotion in that scene!!!!! It was great!
It got me thinking.... and it reminded me of Omori.
How well the soundtrack I placed at the beginning fits with the moment we finally unravel the full truth of what happened to Mari!
Tumblr media
See how the memory scene between Brynn accidentally killing Maude similarly mirrors the one between Sunny and Mari!
Tumblr media
And again the soundtrack, "The Decision" could go so beautifully hard with this scene from Omori!
Can you see my vision??? I need someone to do some sort of art or animatic with this song and this reveal in Omori!!!
I have listened to that part of the soundtrack all day. *happy screeching ensues*

BK swap AU- the Event Notes
Omori spoilers ahead! (Why are you looking for AUs before knowing the original? /nm)
I assume most people looking for AUs already know what the base story is, right? (Exception of my friend, but I'm trying to steer them away from the bigger spoiler-y ones, heh") Because I'm thinking about the recital, and I really don't think Kel would do what Basil did, y'know?
So, I'm a little Stumped- Just venting/posting ideas, I guess.
Kel wouldn't hide the body. No hesitation. He might support Sunny or not, but he wouldn't jump straight to Forge a Suicide.
(Babil-Plush's idea of Kel just grabbing Sunny and running is appealing, tbh, but 1) I don't wanna steal, 2) A huge point of my interpretation of this AU concept is Kel actually sticking with Sunny, and 3) I kinda wanna have Kel freak out. Will explain more in later point)
Honestly, I kind of want to make it so Kel doesn't actually know the full truth.
Like, he'd sneak off to record Sunny and Mari's practice- "You always record the pregame!" or something- and catches the tail end of the argument and Mari falling. But he doesn't catch the actual argument on camera. The audio is saved, but not any visuals.
So the truth segment would be Kel and Sunny working together through their own memories to fully recall What Happened. Like the original has Sunny figuring it out. (A bit more obviously supernatural, with dream sharing: IDK if that would go down well tho...)
(Re:Kel Freak Out) If Kel doesn't see the fight, then I think he'd get freaked and accidentally freak Sunny out more. Like, Kel runs in, sees Mari on the ground bleeding, Sunny trying to wake her up, and starts panicking. (I.E: "Sunny, what happened?! Why is Mari- What- Oh god, what happened? Is she okay? Sunny?!") Even if the questions are fair/normal, I could see Sunny hearing this as something like "What did you do?!" and hearing Kel as angry.
From there, its all a blur- Someone calls an ambulance, and Mari is confirmed Dead (At least for now. Maybe it could be comatose or severely impaired, or any other of the 'Mari Lives But Still Suffers' AUs, but idk if Sunny would repress as hard if she survived.)
I have more thoughts about RW events, but I gotta go- So I'll try to mention them later. Please feel free to give me ideas or critique the ones I have! Dankeschön!

Meadow's Diary!
Entry #1 - First Day in Namulia!
Tumblr media
It was like waking up from a very long sleep. In what felt like seconds I somehow existed. I looked around, and all I could see was grey. I was inside a grey machine with some weird spikes. I felt so empty.
I don't remember what came before that. I guess I'm not supposed to, but something I remember very well was that empty feeling. I couldn’t recognize a single thing that was around me. It felt overwhelming. If it wasn't for Stasis showing up, I probably would just stay there forever without moving..
Oh yeah! Stasis, Stasis saved my life that day. I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for him. I would probably be really scared and overwhelmed, not that nuls showing up helped. I still felt really overwhelmed.
I remember the first thing nul said. "You okay there, kiddo? Welcome to Namulia… I guess," or something like that, maybe I don’t actually remember what nul said.
Those words stuck to me like glue on a piece of paper, or like dust to my feathers, ugh. Stasis guided me through the whole process of being a Namu. I felt so empty during all that. I couldn't think much, my mind sounded so empty. I didn't know where I was.
Yeahh... The process. After talking to me and explaining what a Namu was, Nul took me to a room and talked about me. Nul told me my name "Meadow" and explained how the Respawn Machine worked. It sure was an experience.
After all that, nul took me to do an "Immunity test." Nul never told me that immunity tests involve syringes! I don't feel very proud of freaking out, but it was my first time experiencing pain. It wasn't fun. Nul used those tests to determine my immunity and blood colour. Nul told me I was a gold blood. It sounded important, but then I discovered it wasn't. No blood colour is more or less rare than the others. Nul also said my immunity was blood loss, so I guess my human lost their precious blood.
What even are humans anyway? Stasis told me that they live on the planet that we see far away in the sky, but I never saw one in person. Nul also told me that Central Namulia sent a Namu to visit them, nuls name is Jimmy or something like that I don’t know. I don’t really care about Central Namulia.
Oh yeah... I got sidetracked again... Where was I?
My first day, yeah... Continuing... Stasis, after nul finished the tests, took me outside. I remember seeing a lot of snow first. I didn't think it was supposed to be cold, but to be honest, I still don't feel cold. It was quite empty. I remember seeing Marie and Sunny there, nuls had a cake for me, and a small card saying, "Welcome to Namulia." Sunny told me that cakes are a human tradition and that he's glad to teach me about human culture. I don't know. I think humans are lame. They don’t have feathers, that's really lame, but I accepted his request because I didn't want to seem rude. Guess I'm getting ahead of myself.
Back to my first day. I didn't really know what eating felt like, so Stasis suggested keeping the cake for later. I didn't know Marie and Sunny properly back then, but nuls always gave me a welcoming aura.
After that, things were way calmer. Stasis took me to nuls house and said that I could stay until nuls found a house for me. Which was never, to this day I live with nul. Mostly because Northern Namulia is a bit empty. Nuls told me that nuls wouldn't even give me a house because the people in Northern Namulia thought that it would be better for me to stay with nul. I don't mind, Nul is a good roommate.
I remember going to bed for the first time, It felt so comfortable. Putting my blanket on me and slowly drifting away was a very special experience.
So… This was my first day... Not much happened, but it was still really fun. I have a lot to tell about my first days here in Namulia, but I guess that's to be left for another day. I'm running out of time, and class is ending. Meadow out.

May 10-11- the End!
my last full day in Scotland, and I saved some of the best for last! First stop of the morning was a guided tour of Holyrood Palace, which is a lovely palace where the current royal family of the UK (Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince William, among others) stays when they have working engagements in Edinburgh. There are state dinners and parties as well as other meetings. to get to the palace, I walked all the way along the Royal Mile down to the very bottom, about a 20 minute walk. It was very sunny this morning and I stepped outside and immediately went right back inside to grab my sun hat 😂 I enjoyed the walk and then made it to the palace, noticing on the way that it was free to visit the Scottish parliament so decided to visit that after. I very much enjoyed the tour of Holyrood, which was a well done audio tour discussing the historical occupants, including Mary Queen of Scots and more into the story of her Catholicism and how she eventually abdicated the throne in favor of her son; also went in depth into a murder plot against her. Another room, the biggest in the palace, had a wall full of portraits of the ancient kings and queens of Scotland of old, commissioned by King Charles the II. To reinforce to everyone the kingly pedigree of Charles II, the painter chose to portray every painting with King Charles II’s big nose 😂. The palace is beautifully decorated, outside and in, and again I took a photo in the first room before noticing a no photos sign and getting in trouble with the palace staff. Whoops!
the tour finished up in the abbey ruins from the 1100s beside the palace and then a lovely walk through the palace gardens. I was wanting an early lunch at this point but there was basically a choice between the cafe at the palace or the one at parliament; didn’t specifically want anything from the cafe at the palace and was confused about the line so went next store to parliament, which ended up being a mistake because the food looked way worse 😂 had a little bacon sandwich and chocolate pastry to fortify myself for my hike of Arthur’s seat in the afternoon, and then poked around the exhibit about Scottish parliament (Scotland only had its own parliament since the 1990s! Which is why the building is so new. It was pretty interestingly designed and modern architecture throughout) and I got to actually go in the legislative chamber! I learned that if I had planned ahead you can actually sit in on Parliament while it is in session Monday-Thursday, or get a free guided tour.
Then it was time to hike Arthur’s seat! This is an (extinct) volcano beside which Edinburgh was built, offering great views of the city and also the other volcanic hills nearby. The yellow gorse bushes were blooming all over the mountainside, and it was a beautiful day for a hike; a bit sunny at times making me glad of my hat, but also partly cloudy making it less hot than it could have been. Sidebar: I later realized I should have definitely applied more sunscreen to my shoulders and I have an impressive sunburn that is going to give me some weird tan lines on my shoulders lol. This hike was Steep- my iPhone told me I walked the equivalent of 80 flights of stairs today! Felt like I zigzagged Straight up a cliff which I essentially did for part of it, though there were stairs to walk on- and I had to take many breaks to recover and catch my breath, so I was glad that Grey wasn’t there to have to wait for me lol, it took me way longer than I’m sure it would have taken him lol. I had a liter water bottle but wished I’d had more water. My recovery breaks always came with a great view though :)
I brought a couple pairs of shoes for the trip, including my hiking boots and some athletic sandals (Tevas) which I love for traveling, because I’m always hot when I walk around. However I really wished I had my boots for this walk! my sandals held up okay but I didn’t have the best grip on the dusty soil of the paths. When I got to the top a French guy said he was impressed I made it with sandals 😂 he and his group had brought a cooler with beers to the top which in retrospect was a fantastic idea haha. it was beautiful but very crowded at the top, so I made my way back down; this was even worse with my sandals. Didn’t appreciate the view as much trying to be sure of my footing on the way down haha, only slid once though but was able to catch myself before I actually fall down. At the very base of the mountain there was a little ice cream van making an absolute killing I’m sure, I bought a new water and chugged it immediately. Totally worth the hike but I was super sore and tired at this point, so wanted to walk back to my apartment for a shower.
Unfortunately for me I had to walk all the way back up the royal mile to get back to my apartment, but had a pleasant walk ducking into touristy souvenir shops, weaving in an out of the huge crowds and listening to the buskers playing bagpipes and watching the magicians doing tricks on the street. Speaking of magic, I had to stop for a butter beer at the Elephant House, a cafe where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter! It’s on Victoria Street, which claims to be an inspiration for Diagon Alley. The butter beer was Disgusting, a nasty cream soda- I’ve had much better at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but I couldn’t resist haha. Went into one of the Harry Potter shops to browse too.
I stopped for a very quick falafel wrap for lunch and then showered and rested a bit for my last hurrah in Edinburgh: another chocolate whisky tasting! it was in a bar called the Tipsy Midgie (Midgies being the Scots word for a midge, or biting fly, that apparently gets quite bad in the summers in Scotland. Luckily we missed midge season!) this bar was about a 20 minute walk away, and I took a path that went past a few sights I hadn’t seen yet, including the National Museum of Scotland and the Greyfriars Kirkyard, a cemetary with Harry Potter connections: JK Rowling used to walk through the cemetary and took several characters names from the names on the Graves, including Tom Riddle (Voldemort himself). then onward to the Tipsy Midgie! They do ever changing whisky pairings with chocolates and you can book them in advance with at least 24 hours notice by emailing the bar. I enjoyed my first chocolate whisky experience so much I thought a second would be well worth it. The bar itself was small but very cool. This time it was 5 whiskies paired with 5 chocolates, from the 5 major whisky regions of Scotland, Speyside, the Highlands, the Lowlands, the Islands, and Islay; again arranged from a light sweeter whisky- the Tamnavulin Tempranillo Cask Edition, paired with a strawberry cheesecake white chocolate, to an Ardnamurchan Rum Cask paired with a dark chocolate with rum filling (my favorite kind of chocolate is dark chocolate, but honestly it went the least well with whisky; the sweeter notes of the rest of the white and milk chocolates made for much tastier combinations) all the way to the peatier Kilchoman 2010 vintage from Islay, with the smoky peat flavor going excellently with a peanut butter and jelly truffle. I had an incredible time at the tasting- there was a table of perhaps my parents aged Americans next to me who were just starting their two week Scotland trip, and I could tell they thought I was about 18 years old as they were chatting with me haha, thinking I was very brave to be so young and out and about on my own drinking whisky 😂 also liked talking to my waitress Sarah, who designed the tasting and picks out the best whiskies to go with the chocolates- I asked where she got the chocolates and she told me a local chocolatier named Finley, not exactly helpful if I wanted to buy any chocolates lolol. and also I met the proprietor Colin, who told me that the bar had only been open 18 months! Which explains why it was in a bit of a weird area, more residential and less of a touristy place. When he heard it was my last night in Scotland he brought me a free bonus tasting of the 6th whisky region in Scotland, a Glen Scotia from Campbelltown. I did not necessarily need a 6th whisky at that point haha but it was a really good one so of course I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very smooth. No bonus chocolate pairing though ;) I walked back to my apartment enjoying the sights of Edinburgh for the last time, and was a bit tipsy while packing and tidying up the airbnb. I had an early night, and woke up to head for the airport bright and early, leaving before 6. It was nice and bright outside, and I found a way to walk that avoided lugging my suitcase around on the stairs, thank goodness. Took the tram to the airport and checked in without incident- though my luggage seriously gets picked every single time for additional screenings. As usual I have very normal things in my suitcase lol! (In Toronto my bag got pulled again and the worker asked me if i had bottles of maple syrup in my bag- no, it was whisky lolol) slept a lot on the plane and wrote this last post on the way to my layover in Toronto. Should arrive in Columbus around 3 o’clock and then have a day to recover and back to work on Monday 😭
From the Isle of Skye to the Loch Ness to castles, churches, history, and mountains with wonderful train rides and delicious chocolate and whisky pairings, I had such a wonderful time in Scotland! I couldn’t possibly recommend it more and I’m sure I will be back again! :)

So I just started Omori…
Just a warning! There ARE spoilers ahead
Okay so let me just start off by saying I am not a psych horror person. That kinda stuff is just not my thing, at least not usually, for a varsity of reasons I will not get into. I am on my third save (so I have gone in and out of white space i think three times now i have to go look for Basil next) so I wanted to share my initial thoughts :)
So first of all I feel really bad for Omori so far. I have seen one or two photos that lead me to believe that Mari is evil. There have also been a few hints to that in the game thus far. I also did NOT like heartbeat noises that happened during my second visit to white space. Is Mari the something?? I have no idea. But that could be a thing I guess?? Also I named my “Faraway” character James instead of Sunny. Just because I felt like it… I did NOT like that they made me use the kn*fe on Omori at all.
So yeah those r my thoughts atm I guess…
I’m interested to see how this story continues but whether I will end up leaving it idk.

Why Basil isn’t “evil” or knowingly manipulative:
Warning: Major MAJOR Omori Spoilers Ahead
When people aren’t saying Sunny is a psychopath who deserves to be in jail, they’re saying Basil is an evil obsessive mastermind who tricked poor dissociating Sunny into defacing his sister’s corpse.
I’ve already explained before why I disagree with either interpretation but I haven’t gone in depth with Basil’s character. I’ll write about why I don’t think Basil is this dark yandere intentionally manipulating Sunny into dependance on him.
Basil is a tragic character with bad abandonment issues who legitimately wants to help the people he loves most. Unfortunately he also happens to have a broken “normalcy compass” (common in abused and/or neglected children). This means his well intentioned actions are often more harmful than helpful.
Aubrey says during a part of the real world segment that outside our main friend group, she’s always been an outcast. I think it’s no accident that we see in Sunny’s memories that she was the one who introduced Basil to the friend group, implying he’s also always been an outcast like her.
With Aubrey though, we can attribute her outcast status to things like living in the poorest neighborhood in Faraway town while also living in the visibly most worn-down house of said poor neighborhood.
Aubrey has a hoarding alcoholic mother that neglects her and a strict father (Aubrey casually mentions as a kid that her father is weirdly strict about her appearance) who ends up abandoning her anyway. Aubrey’s hot temper doesn’t help either and so even though she manages to be popular and well-loved among her hooligan friends, the rest of the town judges her harshly as if she’s at fault for her horrible life circumstances.
Then we have Basil. Basil’s economic circumstances are visibly better than Aubrey’s and he lives in a nice house surrounded by pretty flowers. Yet even with everything around him (even his appearance) looking so prim and cute, he’s still treated as an outcast.
We know that mentally ill children are way too often shunned by their peers and the adults surrounding them for being “weird” even though it’s not their fault that they have different brain chemistry. Without counting the bullying Aubrey carried out with her friends, Basil was already being ostracized by people outside the main friend group. In one of Sunny’s memories, Basil tells them that he’d always been alone before meeting them.
This lets us know that there’s always been “something” that’s made Basil unpopular with almost everyone. We see hints of why in the contrast between Dreamworld Basil and Real Basil. Whereas Dreamworld Basil is well-spoken, charismatic and cheerful, Real Basil is a nervous wreck that is prone to panic attacks and bouts of screaming. We could say he’s this way cus of what he did to Mari but from knowing Basil’s always been an unliked outcast, I get the feeling he’s not like this only from the Mari situation.
Then we have the probable root of his very obvious abandonment issues: Basil’s parents’ are completely absent save for some pictures in his home. Sunny himself has never seen Basil’s parents in person. Datamining apparently suggests his parents abandoned him when he was a toddler. To top it off, having a constantly ill and mostly unresponsive grandma as his only remaining family doesn’t help with his mental health issues at all, either. No wonder the kid’s clingy.
There’s also the caretaker at his house, who is introduced as Basil’s caretaker, not his sick grandmothers. Basil is at the age where he can legally emancipate himself yet we’re shown he still needs a caretaker to look after him. That Basil needs looking after kinda says to me that he has issues he can’t be left alone with.
So all these paragraphs were to explain the evidence that point to Basil likely being mentally ill since before Mari’s death. Now we get to the parts that make me think he’s been suffering from psychosis even as a kid.
12 year old Basil doesn’t seem capable of understanding the concept of Sunny being angry and accidentally shoving Mari down the stairs. He seems unable to consider the possibility that it was an argument between siblings just at the wrong place at the wrong time, as if that just can’t happen. To Basil, it HAS to be “Something” maliciously causing the incident and/or forcing Sunny to do it.
About the Mari incident and Basil’s fucked up idea: I think a lot of fans forget that first, not only was Basil a 12 year old kid back then (not even a teen yet) but also a lot of the reasoning behind many of Basil’s most important actions seems to be rooted in delusions he genuinely believes.
The same thing happens when the photo album was scribbled over: in his mind, there was no way any of his friends (*cough* Sunny) could have done this. It had to be the same “Something” attached both to him and Sunny that decided to ruin the photos. Basil doesn’t seem to remember doing anything to the album at all.
We could say all of this isn’t psychosis but metaphors for extreme denial instead, like the way Sunny decides things that remind him of The Truth don’t exist (like the closet door).
I don’t think this is all there is to it, tho.
Basil throughout the game tries to guide Sunny to the truth both in Headspace and that the time in his bathroom where he tries to talk to Sunny about the Something following them. Too afraid to hear him out, Sunny runs away instead while Basil screams for Sunny not to leave him again.
This shows imo that Basil’s brand of denial isn’t the same as Sunny’s. Sunny escapes into his own head and pretends everything involving the incident is either perpetually frozen in a time before anything bad happened or that it simply does not exist. He’s all about repression and suppression.
Basil on the other hand, acknowledges that the incident happened but he saw a Something committing the act instead of Sunny himself.
Then, the final battle against Basil confirms to me that Basil’s delusions and hallucinations go beyond denial of Sunny’s guilt.
Even when the truth is finally out in the open for the both of them, Basil still insists it’s “Something” that did everything. He attacks Sunny because he genuinely believes he is attacking Something evil and that this will protect Sunny from it. The most important detail to me: Basil slashes or gouges Sunny’s eye out specifically on the side where Somethings eye peeks out from Mari’s hair.
Saddest of all, we’re never shown if Basil ever managed to realize that there was never a monster doing everything. Although we are shown the burden of the secret is gone in that last scene between Sunny and Basil, we don’t know if Basil ever understood that Sunny wasn’t forced by any monster to kill Mari.
There’s more that can be said but this post already got long af lol. My conclusion is that Basil isn’t some evil yandere mastermind. He’s a sad wreck of a teenager who’s always struggled with mental illness, trying to do the best he can for those he loves while being plagued by nearly constant delusions and hallucinations.
Tricking his best friend/love interest isn’t part of Basil’s modus operandi when a lot of times he can barely tell what’s real and what isn’t.

Nightmare
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Avenger Reader Word Count: 3,431 Summary: Your best friend finally comes to visit the compound after you join the Avengers. What starts out as a fun night out, quickly turns dire for you and Bucky. Warnings: Angst, Fluff, Feelings, Mentions of Alcohol and Drugs, PTSD/Nightmares, swearing
“AHHHH Y/N!!” You hear her before you see your best friend running towards you, not a care in the world that your entire team has also turned around to watch you two galavant towards each other like long lost sisters.
You catch Sarah in your arms and spin her around.
“Oh my god, I can’t believe you’re FINALLY HERE! And you’re early! Holy shit like I can’t believe you’re finally here in New York!! Let me introduce you to the team!” You grab her arm after she starts to show hesitance in meeting the Avengers all at once.
“Are you sure they have time? I don’t want to be a bother,” she says sheepishly.
“Oh my god Sarah, I talk about you all the time! They’re just as excited to meet you, come on.” You both walk towards the team still staring at you both near the entrance to the compound doing a quick debrief of a not-so-successful mission the day before.
“Guys, this is Sarah. Sarah this is-“ she cuts you off. “I know who you guys all are. It’s so nice to meet you! I’ll stay out of the way, I promise.” Everyone grins and introduces themselves to your best friend.
Nat smiles at you both, “On the contrary, you’re coming out with us tonight! No if’s, and’s or but’s”
Sarah seems to suddenly catch a second wind from her long flight and lets out a squeal of excitement.
You’re the newest to the “official” team, even though Steve and Fury had been trying to recruit you for years. You didn’t like the idea of the world knowing about your skill set and preferred to live a quiet life back in California. Ever since moving here, you’ve felt like maybe you weren’t home yet. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, but you missed your little house hidden in the outskirts of the National Parks in California. You missed the sun, the familiar smell of your patch of paradise and the general sense of room back home. Most importantly, you missed Sarah.
You were reluctant to invite her out to New York at first, but now that things seemed to be going smoothly, you sent for her via a car and private jet thanks to one Mr. Tony Stark. He was more than happy to help you out given your fresh and maybe sometimes bumpy arrival to the Avengers.
As everyone filed inside to break away before the evening festivities, Bucky caught your arm.
After holding you back for a second he said, “Hey, I can totally hang back tonight if you’d rather just be with Sarah and the team.”
You realize what he’s getting at. He also has some lack of feeling settled at the compound. It was something you bonded over when you first arrived. You both had similar pasts, even though they were at the same time lightyears apart.
“Buck, no. I think we’re all going out to Bleaker’s tonight! What’s a better way to get to know the team than bowling, beer, smoking inside, beer, old arcade games, more beer and maybe dancing?!”
Bucky gives you a quick glare out the corner of his eye before wrapping his metal arm around your shoulders to lead you inside after everyone.
“Fiiiiiiine, but I can’t promise I’ll behave.” You giggle, but suddenly feel a couple sets of eyes on you.
“And what do we have here?,” Tony asks with a smirk across his mouth. Sarah seems to be in the middle of an engaging conversation with Steve, so you don’t seem to have an easy out of this encounter. Bucky quickly drops his arm and steps a foot away from you.
“Uh, nothing. Y/N just seemed like maybe she wasn’t feeling well.”
“But I’m fine so here we are - have you seen Sam? Nat? Wanda? I told them we should be ready in a few hours and I jus-“
“Oh for Christ’s sake guys, your secret is safe with me,” Tony winks at you knowingly. You decide to take that as the end of the conversation and rush over to join Sarah.
“So! You have muscles.” Sarah says clearly at a loss of words looking at Steve in a tight shirt.
You and Bucky share a giggle, but pull Sarah away and save her from further embarrassment.
“What the fuck did I just say?” Sarah is about as red as a tomato as you drag her upstairs away from the awkward encounter. Steve looked a little flustered as well, which you file away in the back of your brain.
“Who cares! Let’s catch up and get ready for tonight.” Sarah is your best friend for a reason. Even though it had been 6 months since you last saw each other, it was like it was yesterday. You two spend the next few hours catching up, gossiping about each other’s families, friends, ex-boyfriends, etc.
“So! How are we doing in the boi department?” You turn around and face Sarah at the inquisitive tone in her question.
“What’s that supposed to mean? I’m good, I’m… I’m doing great, I mean yeah I’m good. WHY?” You’re stuttering and you don’t even care it’s obvious you’re blushing.
“Oh, you know. I mean, I’ve only recently met a few super soldiers, but I do think I can tell the there’s a spark between one and someone else.” Sarah so wants you to spill the tea but you promised Bucky you’d keep it quiet.
“Let’s just say things are developing and whatever you’d like to take from that you may.” You both launch into a giggle fit of her guessing and you denying certain aspects of Bucky Barnes.
When Wanda wanders into your room a few hours later, she starts laughing at what she sees. “You know you two are wearing like the same thing, right?” Exchanging confused looks at each other, you reply with a “AND?!”
Sam follows in with a smirk of his own. You’re bracing for his jokes but instead says “damn, OKAY! Everyone’s looking sharp tonight. Y/N, have you seen our bionic man around? Is he coming? He better come out tonight or I swear to…”
After Sam leaves to go find Bucky, the three of you wander down to find Nat and start the evening off with a shot or two. You aren’t much of a drinker, so one is enough for you. You much rather enjoy the company of your friend Mary Jane.
The team is getting silly with each other in the kitchen and quickly the room is filled with people yelling at each other to pregame harder, laughing when Nat’s little sister challenges Sam to a chugging contest and wins.
You feel a large hand at the small of your back. You can smell his cologne and know who it is immediately.
“Well don’t you look dashing tonight Sargent Barnes.” You lean in on impulse but stop yourself just as the girls turn around to see who you’re talking to.
“I was just going to say the same thing to you, sweets.” He mumbles in your ear before removing his hand and walking over to Sam.
The alcohol decides to hit you then, leaving you feeling empty that he’s not standing next to you anymore. Neither of you had wanted to have the “conversation” but you knew you were head over heels for him.
“CABS ARE HERE” screams Sam.
“Sam. For the love of God, stop watching Jersey Shore.” Natasha jokes to him.
At the same time Steve screams, “I understood that reference!” Eye rolls are exchanged as you all make your way outside.
The atmosphere is buzzing and you’re so excited to not just be out with your team, but to also have the only bit of family you had with you as well. You finally felt at home, at peace, and were ready for a fun night out.
Bleaker’s is one of those hole-in-the-wall dive bars that from the outside seems like a hard pass, but once you’re in, there’s no other place you’d rather spend a Saturday night. It’s true it started as a bowling alley in the 60’s. That still remains. What’s newer is the arcade in the back, where the old salon used to be. Jimmy bought the space next door, blew out the wall and filled it with arcade games that sometimes work and sometimes eat your money.
After years of being regular patrons, he knows your team well. The minute you walk in, he starts up all your favorite drinks.
“Ah! My best customers! I had a feeling I’d be seeing Earth’s mightiest heroes tonight.” You line up at the bar for whatever Jimmy decides you’re drinking tonight.
“Ah yes, two vodka on the rocks for my little Russian assassins. Sam here’s your vodka red bull which I don’t think you need, but here we are. Steve! Your drink of choice: an Old Style. Wanda, a cosmo for my favorite witch. And who do we have here, Y/N?”
You’re already both in hysterics at the old man behind the bar giving everybody a hard time. “Jimmy, this is my best friend Sarah. She’s visiting from California for a few days.”
“And whatever the lady wants can be put on my tab…” Steve butts in. Sarah immediately turns red but says “well in that case I’ll have vodka soda with lime please!”
Bucky has come up behind you and now you’re both laughing and watching the two of them stare at each other like no one else is in the room.
“Oh no, what did you do Y/N?”
“Let it play out, he’s not completely tripping over his words yet, maybe he’ll finally land a good girl.” You hush to Bucky.
Jimmy stares as well in amusement. “And you two? Your usual?”
“Yes’sir!” You shout over the growing music. Jimmy hands you each a jack and Diet Coke. You tell yourself it’s okay because it’s diet, but you know that’s a bunch of bullshit.
The other great thing about Bleaker’s? The dance floor downstairs. You always joke around that it seems like a nightclub that never closes in Amsterdam or something, but you’re serious. It could be 3 pm and sunny and you’d never know. It’s in the basement, it's always dark and the music is almost always too loud.
Usually that would gross you all out, but the energy tonight is pushing you all downstairs.
You reach back and grab Bucky’s hand not really caring who sees. It’s been months of sneaking around and either everyone knows and is playing it off like they don't or you’re really good at hiding it. Regardless, you’re over hiding. Maybe showing a little PDA tonight will get him out of his shell.
Sarah and Steve are no where in sight, assuming they’re ahead of you, you follow the team downstairs.
Minutes turn into hours. Everyone is dancing, laughing, sweating, screaming the lyrics to every song, and for a little while you can forget you’re a group of superheroes, and can just be normal 30-something year-olds.
You mostly dance with Bucky and quickly realize he’s a better dancer than you thought he would be. Those moves from the 1940’s must still be relevant in some way today, because the way he's grinding up on you and not caring if anyone sees just does something to you.
You work the room, finding Sarah, Wanda, Nat, even Steve for a song before you realize you don't see Bucky. You give it a few minutes thinking maybe he is in the bathroom. After 15 minutes though, you grab Steve’s attention and motion for him to check the bathroom while you check outside.
You race to the alley where you find Jimmy on a smoke break. “Hey Jimmy, have you seen Bucky? I can’t find him.”
“Oh yeah, doll, he took off in a cab about a half hour ago. Looked real flustered, but I didn’t want to press.”
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. You thought you felt his mood shift about an hour ago, he was becoming stiff and quiet. You thought maybe he was just drinking a lot but now you’re realizing the loud music, strobe lights and base must have been triggering him.
“Ugh I’m such a bitch,” you huff as you send Steve a S.O.S text.
You: Hey, Jimmy said he just left. I'm sure he's heading home. I'm going to go find him.
Sire Captain Rogers: Go ahead. I think Sarah and I can find something to do while you find Buck. ;)
You: Yeah I’m sure you can.
You: BEHAVE. She’s my best friend.
Sire Captain Rogers: I know Y/N, don’t worry about us. Let me know when you find him.
You lock your phone and hop in a cab back to the compound.
No one is up or around when you enter through the front. The kitchen has been cleaned up, the dishes done. Probably thanks to THURSDAY, Tony’s beta bot for “cleaning up after you assholes trash the place.”
You smirk and head for the elevators. Heading straight to Bucky’s room, you can tell his light is on but something seems off. You don’t like to use your powers on friends or in the compound, but you close your eyes and reach out with your mind to find his aura. Your eyes snap open. You don’t sense him, you just see red.
Taking this as a good excuse to break into a friend’s room, you burst into the room to find it in disarray. Everything is toppled over, broken glass is on the floor, the bathroom light is on, but all you can see is his blood on the door and the floor. You’re panicked, trying to piece together what happened.
Again, you close your eyes and reach out for the familiar energy of Bucky. You find him in your room on the floor.
“What the fuck?,” you mumble and sprint up the stairs to your apartment. You shoot Steve a text on your way up.
You: Found him, looks like a bad one. I’ll let you know if I need you.
Sir Captain Rogers: Thanks Y/N. I’m just a call away, let me know if you need anything. Night.
Upon entering, you sense he’s in distress. His heart rate is elevated, he’s incredibly sweaty and is panting like a dog.
“Bucky? Buck, it’s me, it’s Y/N.”
Bucky stirs and jumps into a defensive standing position quicker than you can blink. You flip the lights on with a “BABE. Baaabe, it’s me. It’s okay, you’re safe. We’re in the compound. You had a nightmare.”
Bucky’s eyes are wide and alarmed, but you can tell the moment he recognizes you.
Rushing over to you, he takes you into a big hug. “Oh my god. What happened? Are you okay, did I hurt you?”
“No Bucky, no I just found you a minute ago. You had another bad one, what do you need me to do right now for you?”
Bucky stands back and rubs his swollen eyes. “I need to shower, can you help me?”
Typically, this is where it gets exciting, but you knew what he means. Water grounds him. He doesn’t feel like he’s falling in water. It helps him visualize the stress washing off of him.
You help him strip and get in the shower, but before you can even take his jeans off, he jumps in and pulls you in with him. You realize how desperate he is for whatever he’s feeling to pass and your heart sinks.
You’re both standing there, almost fully clothed holding each other. This is the worst you’ve seen him in a long time.
“I’m so sorry if I ruined your night, Y/N. The base sounded like the train, the lights looked like the machine they used on me, what the fuck.”
You aren’t sure what to do so you decide to sit on the ground and pull him down with you. You position yourself behind him so his back is in your chest. Even though he’s so much larger than you, he sinks down enough for you to reach over his shoulders and hold him.
“It’s okay Barnes, just breathe with me. You’re safe. You’re with me, and we’re home. Nobody is going to touch you. I’ve got you, you won’t fall.”
You take in deep breaths so he can match your breathing.
After about 45 minutes, the hot water is out in the tank. Bucky sits forward and turns towards you. You want him to lead right now, so you don’t say anything. Neither does he, but the look in his eyes are telling you something about tonight is different.
With a soft smile on your lips, you cup his cheek until he is really looking at you. “Hun, let’s go lay down, ya? Let me help get you dried off.” Bucky hates when you fuss over him, so when he doesn’t argue, you know to be extra gentle with him.
After getting him up and out of the shower, you think skin-to-skin contact doesn’t seem sexual right now, it feels intimate in a grounding sense, and you know that’s exactly what he needs right now. Bucky seems dazed, almost like he got hit too hard in the head. You yourself are of course a tad over-served, and are quickly realizing the adrenaline of this entire situation is rubbing off.
You get Bucky into bed and turn to make sure his phone is plugged in and that he has a glass of water, but he grabs your wrist before you can move away. “Just leave it, it’s fine.”
“Buck, just let me-“ he grabs your wrist harder.
“Y/N. Please just stay here. Please.”
The entire time you’ve been together, he’s done a lot of things but begging you for anything is not one of them. Suddenly the phone and whatever hell else you were doing doesn’t seem important anymore.
You climb into your usual spot next to him and decide maybe you’ll try to get him to open up. The moment the back of your head hits the pillow, Bucky is facing you. His pleading eyes seem like they want to tell you everything that’s going on in his head, but you know pushing him to talk will just make the nightmares come flooding back too soon.
Instead, you decide to lay on your back and pull him to lay on your chest.
“Just listen to my heart beat, Bucky.” You hear him take a deep breath and settle into your chest.
You start and stop yourself from trying to say something comforting. You’re terrified to say the wrong thing at such a crucial moment. Typically these bad episodes are reserved for a Steve house call. You realize as he’s settling into a comfortable position that he hasn’t asked you to call Steve yet. Bucky trusts you in a way you didn’t realize until now.
You don’t know when, but you start humming the first calming song that comes in your head.
I’ll be seeing you In all the old familiar places That this heart of mine embraces All day through
Bucky picks his head up to look at you. Oh fuck.
“Where did you hear that song?,” he says to you with shiny eyes.
“You sing it all the time when you’re concentrating. I looked it up and added it to my ‘bath time/relax’ playlist. I didn't know Billie Holliday was a favorite of yours."
Bucky was looking at you like maybe this was the first time he saw you, like really saw you. “My mom used to sing that around the house when she was missing my dad.”
“Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. I can hum a diff-“ you’re cut off with the most searing kiss Bucky has ever given you. He’s crying when he pulls back to look at you again. “Will you keep singing it?”
In that small cafe The park across the way The children's carousel That chestnut tree, the wishing well
By the time you finish the second verse, he has physically relaxed in your arms. You continue rubbing your hand up and down his back and shoulder, stopping to play with his long hair every once in a while.
I'll be seeing you In every lovely summer's day In every thing that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way
“I forgot how much I love hearing this song sung around me.” Bucky whispers so quietly you almost miss it.
I'll find you in the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you…
You stop your caressing when you feel him sit up on one arm.
He leans down to kiss you but stops short to whisper “I love you Y/N.” You kiss him back and wrap your arms around his shoulders, and when you say “I love you too, Bucky,” you’ve never been more sure of something in your life.

Spoilers for OMORI ahead. You have been warned
What if basil had never showed up on that fateful day? What if Sunny called 911 instead?
What if OMORI never existed? What if Something never grew?
What if romance finally strikes a oblivious boy between he and his childhood crush?
Welcome to the OMORI Sunset AU
PROLOGUE:
*THUD*
Sunny looks in front of him in complete and total shock.
"Mari?" Sunny says in a low tone.
Silence…

Sunny carefully goes down the steps.
He keeps repeating her name in the same tone, each time sounding more and more fearful.
He makes his way down the steps and carefully checks on mari, his heart beats too loud to hear anything else.
"Mari? Are you ok, are you tired?" Sunny asks, almost oblivious to what just happened.
He tries to calm himself down, but he can't remember how to.
He can hardly breathe, let alone think.
He tries his hardest to figure out a way to fix the mess he was in.
He comes up with a plan. Maybe it would be able to save Mari?
He reaches for the phone while still trying to keep a watchful eye on Mari.
He dials 911 and hears the operator, "911, whats your emergency?"
"Help! My big sister fell down the stairs and won't wake up" sunny he says starting to break down
"Ok, we're sending an ambulance to your location. If you would just stay in the phone with me and keep me updated that would be great."
The longest 5 minutes of his life go by, when the ambulance arrived they said she was in bad shape, but she could be saved.
The light in Sunny's eyes returned as he knew there was a chance.
An hour or two pass with Sunny sitting on the floor waiting for something.
His parents are out of town, but they're trying their best to make it back.
Sunny sits there sobbing to himself when suddenly he hears a knock on the door.
"Sunny! Open the door!" He hears a muffled voice say.
He inches over to the door while trying to fix himself up.
He reaches the door and turns the handle and is greated with several familiar faces.
"Sunny what happened?" Hero asks. Kel and Aubrey shuffle in looking extremely worried.
Sunny tells them mari fell down the stairs while barely holding back tears.
Hero, suddenly struck with fear, asks if he knows how she is. Sunny is unable to replay.
Aubrey and Kel ask how Sunny is holding up. He doesn't reply then either.
"Sunny says something!" Aubrey says getting more and more worried
Sunny can't take it anymore and starts sobbing with no sign of stopping. The gang tires their best to comfort him.
After a while, sunny gets up and everyone sits on the couch. Sunny tells them that they need to wait for a call.
Everybody returns to their house to ask their parents if they can stay at Sunny's house for the night.
Sunny is left alone for 10 minutes. He cries lightly to himself while they're gone.
Suddenly he sees Something out of the corner of his eye. He starts to see things, he starts to feel alone, he starts to feel afraid.
He doesn't know what to do. The darkness is slithering closer and closer to him.
Its gets closer
Sunny knocks over a lamp trying to step back
And closer
He trips and falls backward
A̶n̴d̴ ̵c̴l̵o̶s̸e̴r̷
He tries his best to crawl backwards but he can't move fast enough

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
"Sunny, we're back! Basil was also able to make it!"
Something crawls back into the shadows.
They walk in and see him on the ground with stuff knocked over and Sunny on the ground with tears in his eye.
They immediately rush to him and see what happened to him. Sunny bursts into tears again. After a few more minutes of sobbing and hugging there is a ring on the phone.
Sunny and the gang rush to the phone. Its the hospital…
"Mari will make a recovery." The person on the other end replies.
Sunny falls to his knees and starts to sob uncontrollably and everybody cries with him too. After a little bit everybody gets up and they all hug and make plans to visit mari tomorrow.
They head to Sunny's room, starting to set up their sleeping situation. There are five of them and only two beds. Kel and Hero set up a bed fort and Aubrey takes Mari's bed. Basil sets up some cushions and blankets next to Sunny's bed.
The night passes and Sunny's parents wake the children to take them to the hospital.
After a short drive between the two parents cars everybody make it to the hospital.

The parents let them check up on mari first because they already did last night.
Sunny asks everybody if he can go in Alone for just a few minutes. The group lets him speak with her alone.
Sunny steps into her room. His legs feel weak and his stomach churns. Just behind that curtain should be his sister awake and well.
He tries to move but he can't, he sees Something peeking from the curtains.
He tries to brush it off, and thinks "I'm doing this for Mari!" To himself
Sunny walks to the other side of the curtains.
"Sunny!" Mari says gleefully yet tired.
Sunny sits there with no movement with his body, yet his face holds every possible emotion.
Sunny rushes to Mari and hugs her, but careful trying not to hurt her any more
"Mari! Im so sorry" Sunny sobs.
"Woah! Sunny, are you ok?" Mari says almost confused.
"Mari, i-... We thought we lost you. And it would have been all my fault." Sunny cries out.
"Its ok, its was an accident… I get it, and its not just your fault. I shouldn't have yelled at you, the worst thing that happened out of this is that we are gonna miss the recital, and im not even worried about that." Mari said trying to console her little brother
"Everybody is here for you." Sunny says trying to calm down.
"Huh? Everybody? Who?" Mari asks surprised
"Me, Mom, Dad, Basil, Hero, Kel, and Aubrey." Sunny says starting to smile
"What?!?! How were they able to get here?" Mari says shocked.
"They heard about the news immediately and came to stay the night and Mom and Dad took them here" he replied
Sunny opens the door and the friend group floods in to see how Mari is doing.
Everybody gets together and talks for a while. They start talking about random topics and making sure Mari will be ok.
Sunny feels content, he knows everything will be fine. He feels less empty. The Something Sunny witnessed earlier dissipates entirely.
A week had already passed and Mari is already on her feet and walking about. Her injuries were never that bad, she had just hit her head while falling and it knocked her unconscious.
"She is expected to make a full recovery very soon" the doctor says.
Weeks pass and everything returns to normal, Mari completely forgave Sunny as well as did all his friends.
Sunny was able to get a new violin because of his warranty on it.
Unfortunately for Sunny and Mari, there was no way to reschedule their recital. But there was another they could work to in a few months.
They do their best to practice, while both of them decide they need to take it slower.
Sunny promises to treat his violin better and if he messes up he learns to calm down, persist, and overcome. And Mari promises to not push Sunny too hard, and if he needs to take a break, there is nothing wrong with that.
Time starts to fly by, The siblings go to the recital and nail it, Aubrey and Mari dye their hair pink and purple, Kel tries out for basketball, Hero does well in school, and Basil and Sunny stay best friends. The group stays together, not without hiccups along the way, But that is to be expected.
The group never strays from each other. They all refuse to grow apart from each other. Not a whole lot actually changed between the six of them.
Four years pass with ease. Mari and Hero are out of high school and are returning from college. Sunny, Basil, Kel, and Aubrey are all 16 and it is summer break.

i have decided i’m going to share my omori song brainrot with you cause these fit really well to me and i want to make animatics out of them
note that these lyrics aren’t all in order! i just wrote out the ones i felt were most relevant audhfngng
Sunny: Waves by Chloe Moriondo
Verse 1:
Sometimes I feel like I wanna go back
To a time before my mind turned black
I miss the way it was
When instead of just my gooey brains, all that melted
was popsicles, and the rain just pelted down
Down on me
Sunny wishes to go back to the past, before Mari died, before Black Space was created, before everything. So he creates his fantasy world of silly, innocent things, like melting popsicles and the rain and all the childhood innocence he used to have.
Make me into more than a goner
Perhaps a little bit stronger
Thicker skin, less needy, and maybe to not bruise so damn easily
But you can’t.
And I won’t.
Omori was everything Sunny wished he could be. Strong, unsuccumbing, the protagonist that never failed. He has his friends, he has his sister, and he would never let Mari get hurt again.
But it’s not real. And Omori knows all of Sunny’s flaws.
Chorus:
I want you to help keep me from growing older
Just let me snot on your shoulder, when all that I’m thinking ‘bout is her
Her…
In his dreams, Sunny gets to be twelve again, gets to forget about Mari’s death, forget about what he did to her. He doesn’t have to think about it anymore.
Give me everything you’ve got
Don’t need drugs, cause I can already feel my head rot
And it won’t stop…
It won’t stop, it won’t stop, it won’t stop, it won’t stop
Please slow down, please slow down
Make it all slow down,
Make it all slow down…
Headspace is an endless cycle of remembering and forgetting, facing his trauma and running away, his mind rotting under the falsehoods of his dreamland. Omori is the one who saves him when the truth is too much, when Sunny succumbs to the pressure of his guilt. Omori makes it all slow down, makes it all safe and happy and innocent again.
Kel: No Sleep by No Love For The Middle Child
(this one is based heavily on like, all of my Kel headcanons lmao)
Chorus:
They try to tell me who I am before they know me
Got all this ice on my neck, still no cold feet
Been livin’ fast, don’t know how to take it slowly
And I can’t die before I wake, so I get no sleep
People assume that Kel is the impulsive idiot friend who doesn’t really know what’s going on. He’s always bright, always excited, always moving, so he never has to slow down and dwell on the things that hurt him.
Part of verse 1:
Found out she tried to take her life before I wrote this
You never really know how low someone’s low is
Knew her and her sister since they were both kids
It breaks my heart, I live too far to even notice
Mari’s death hit Kel as hard as anyone else. He’d known Sunny and Mari since they were small. But like everyone else, he never noticed any signs, never expected any of this to happen.
Pre-chorus:
Oh, as of late now
I don’t know what is real or what is fate now
Should I stay or walk away now?
If I had a choice to read the end, I’d rip the page out
Kel copes by moving forwards, using sports and new friends to keep himself distracted. He walks away from the past, because he doesn’t want to dwell on it, doesn’t know how to help. He lives in the moment, rather than thinking behind or thinking ahead. It’s what keeps him going, keeps his feelings from festering inside of him.
Verse 2:
Born the middle child, my mother raised three
All by herself, I gave her hell, but she don’t blame me
I used to sneak outside at night, find trouble waiting
Anxiety and OCD can push that pain deep
So even when I breathe with ease, feels like I’m suffocating
Kel is the middle child between Hero and Sally, and he’s the most rambunctious of the three so far. He’s always been impulsive and just wants to have fun, and even now, he uses it to keep himself happy and push away his own feelings. To everyone else, he seems fine, seems like he doesn’t care. But inside, he is afraid, and he is lonely, and he is hurting.
Final Chorus (because i have even more thoughts):
They try to tell me who I am before they know me
Got all this ice around my neck, still no cold feet
Been livin fast, don’t know how to take it slowly,
And I cannot die before I wake, so I get no sleep
Kel hurts, and grieves, and suffers just as much as everyone else. But because he’s supposed to be the happy one, he can never break down and face those feelings, and will never put them to rest until he reaches his breaking point.
He can’t rest, not until his positivity runs dry and someone stays around long enough to catch him when he falls.

OMORI PAN
(Major Spoilers ahead) and it's not beta-read, sorry .w.,
It was the night of the rehearsal. It would have been two more hours and two siblings would have played a beautiful duet on stage.
A pale, young boy was kneeling beside a bruised body and messy, inklike hair. His eyes were dark and empty, his arms hanging lifeless beside him like the body in front of him.
Basil was frightened. The boy in front of him, Sunny, was just a husk of someone he holds dear. Basil carefully touched his best friend's shoulder and called him by name, but he didn't respond.
"I will solve this - don't worry Sunny" the flower boy said gently, while his mind stressed out, going into a frantic overdrive to save his best friend from… something.
"I will save you”
Basil stood up and searched the house for ideas and solutions. Just when he stood in the living room, his eyes looking through the glass door into the backyard he came up with an idea. It was vile and gut wrenching, but it would rescue his best friend. It would take the burden off of him.
Quickly Basil ran back to the stairs, but Sunny was not there anymore. Maybe he was in the bathroom, Basil thought, the sight was baleful afterall. Sidestepping the corpse carefully at the end of the flight of the stairs, Basil hurried upstairs to the bathroom, just to find it empty. He checked the room of the siblings next, but no luck.
Now Basil started to really panic.
Did Sunny leave him alone?
Basil ran to the front door, but Sunny's shoes were still there. Where did he go? He was nowhere in the house but his shoes were still there. He called for Sunny and searched for him in every corner of the house and started to look outside of the house. Sunny was gone without a trace. But Sunny wouldn't leave him like that? Just like he wouldn't push…
Something must have killed Mari and kidnapped Sunny just in the moment when Basil wasn't looking. This made it worse. The gentle flowerboy fell on his knees, crying out in shock and pain.
It was the night of the rehearsal. It would have been one more hour and two siblings would have played a beautiful duet on stage. The parents of the broken family returned with their neighbours in tow. They heard weeping of a child and found one beloved child dead, one broken sitting in the dirt outside in the yard and one never to be found.
Meanwhile the window across the stairs, which was shut tightly before, was now wide open and a gentle breeze blew inside, while two stars glittered brightly in the distance.

It's just an idea I had for a loooong time but I'm even lazier with writing. So, here it is. I have a plan for a chapter 1 too, but not much beyond that yet except the foundation, so don't count on me.
If people like it, I'll take it more seriously. :) just let me know somehow 💜

Not Again
Alrighty @iknowicanbutwhy this is for you and this is for the fanart that literally will not l e a v e me alone  I have to satisfy my urge to share this AU with you guys. It’s going under a read more, but this is definitely another long one. Have I started like four different AU’s this week. Yes. I’m starting another. Don’t blame me. Blame this image.  This part is probably going to be pretty short tbh...I say that before I have started writing (HAHAHAH I LIED)
TW: Suicide attempt TW: Depression TW: Suicidal Ideation
When you feel that feeling in you to push forward, Don’t Stop. The drop in your gut that you get when need to save someone isn’t a learned skill, it’s plain humanity. Never ignore that feeling Hero. When you do, people die.
One of Hero’s favorite professors at college is an army veteran. She was a combat medic who did two tours before being injured in the line of duty. She’s a hard woman with gray steel eyes, a cane that she slams against the table in the lecture hall, and no room for screwing around.
She teaches his general requirements History course. He had been told by about a dozen people he would not pass her class. No one does. Hero had been determined to prove them wrong. It was his first semester at a school he was going to on nearly a full ride for academics
She offers her office hours to all of the students on the first day. Every other student who heard the same horror stories avoids them like the plague. Hero goes in day one.
He comes in with an excuse of not understanding the material for next week’s lecture. She sees through that very quickly, and he admits he wanted to know about her time as an army medic. It is one of the paths he’s been considering.
Being away from home has opened his eyes to how much he cannot stand being home. How all he is doing in faraway is surviving. Hero wants to live again. Even if that means getting put in the position to kill himself.
She looks at him, watches him squirm in front of her desk, and she pulls out two mugs from a desk drawer. She stands and turns, pouring Hero and herself two steaming mugs of boiling water from the electric kettle behind her. She puts one mug in front of him, and a tin box filled with different teas. The spicy exotic scent tickles his nose. He chooses a tea bag, and his professor tells him to sit.
She tells him point blank not to join the army. Not to get sucked into their scheme.
He’s the type of boy they would snap up in a second. A boy like the girl she was when she first joined up. Whatever he’s running from won’t disappear just because he sells his soul. It will just make it harder to deal with. Something in that statement is both insulting and sobering.
His professor is aware she’s massively overstepping, but she lives by a code. A code she will one day teach Hero.
They stay in her office and talk for far too long, and not at all about history. He comes back the next week and the next week.
She falls into an easy step with this boy. His earnest goodness brings her hope. Her kind but firm mentorship helps Hero to open up.
He tells her about Mari in March. His professor is no longer his professor in classes, but she will always be his professor. She sits with him on the too stiff couch she recently put in her office, and listens and waits as he finally reveals what he’s been holding onto.
It has been four years. Four years of birthdays without her. Four years of learning to live. Hero still feels like he’s on lesson one.
It’s this dreary too cold afternoon that his professor shares her own regret. A friend who had been abroad with her. Her friend had thrown herself off of a bridge two years after they got home. She left no note.
Mari hadn’t left any signals. His professor’s friend hadn’t either. Not really. All that his professor had was a deep unsettled feeling in her gut, a pull. She knew something was wrong, but she had ignored it. In that final day, she had ignored her intuition. It had been the same feeling she felt when she saw Hero’s desperation the first day in her office hours all those months ago. On that day in March, she gives Hero a piece of advice that will change the course of his life.
When you feel that feeling in you to push forward, don’t stop. The drop in your gut that you get when need to save someone isn’t a learned skill, it’s plain humanity. Never ignore that feeling Hero. When you do, people die.
He commits every word to memory. He says it to himself while walking home. He writes it down as soon as he gets back to his dorm.
Three months later, he’s home from college, and he sees Sunny for the first time in four years.
Sunny is pale. Sunny is weak. Sunny is drowning in the lake, and the pull is in his stomach for the first time in his life.
Hero doesn’t ignore it. He saves both Sunny and Basil, using the CPR techniques that his professor forced into his head. Sunny looks up at him with a confused expression, still silent and scared.
They go on another whirlwind adventure. The three of them, and then the four of them. They’re off to save Basil, and Hero feels like he’s sixteen years old again. He keeps glancing to his right, expecting to see a bright girl with long dark hair and a laugh like bells. He keeps forgetting Mari is dead
But the feeling doesn’t go away. The dread and fear that something is wrong.
That feeling is why he steps out of Basil’s hospital room just as Basil wakes up, walking down the hallway just in time to catch a glimpse of a hospital gown turning the corner ahead.
That feeling is why he follows after that hospital gown, ignoring the sound of Kel and Aubrey calling after him.
That feeling is why he climbs the stairs to the roof. It’s the same feeling again, the same gut drop feeling he got seeing Basil and Sunny in the lake. The same awful feeling that has existed in his stomach for the last two days. The same horrifying feeling he searched for when Mari killed herself
But it isn’t the feeling, but his professor’s words that get him to act when he sees Sunny swaying on the edge of the roof.
To run from the doorway
To catch Sunny in his arms
To fall with him
He doesn’t think as he goes over the edge. Doesn’t stop to wonder how much it’s going to hurt when he dies. All he can think is
Not Again. Never Again.
