I Know Who You Are
Tumblr media
Title: I Know Who You Are Summary: One night as someone else can change everything. Main Characters: Glen Powell/Tyler Owens, Reader Pairing: Tyler Owens x Reader / Glen Powell x Reader Rating: E - Everyone Warnings: Fluff/Smut Word Count: 1269 A/N: None :)
The bar was packed for their Tuesday night line dancing more so than usual. The rumor going around was most of the patrons were crew for a movie being filmed in Enid. (Y/N) couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to film a movie in Oklahoma during storm season. Whatever the reason, she was thankful for business, big tips and new eye candy.
She looked down at the end of the bar where the most beautiful man she had ever seen was sitting. Tipping back the bottle to his lips, (Y/N) found herself imagining how those lips would feel against her skin.
“Still drooling over the cowboy?” The other bartender asked, laughing.
(Y/N) smiled, “Just waiting for the right moment to make my move.”
Right at the moment, the handsome cowboy looked up at her signaling for another. (Y/N) grabbed a bottle looking back at her co-worker.
“Show time.”
Walking down, she slid the bottle to him, grabbing the empty one, “Am I going to see you line dance tonight, cowboy?”
His deep chuckle sent goosebumps down her arms, “Dancin’ ain’t really my thing.”
“Then what is your thing?”
He took a long drink from his bottle, “Chasing whatever I’m feeling at the moment.”
She leaned forward, letting her hand rest on his forearm, “So, what are you chasing tonight?”
Tumblr media
His bright olive eyes stared into hers, “Right now, what time you’ll be off work.”
(Y/N) smiled, “You’re in luck. I get off soon, but you should know that I don’t leave with strangers.”
“Beautiful and smart, my kind of woman.” He held out his hand, “I’m Tyler.”
She took his hand, “Hi Tyler, I’m (Y/N).”
The next thirty minutes were the longest of her life. Her eyes kept drifting down to Tyler. Women were coming up to him and he would kindly turn them away. He pulled out his phone only once sending a text then his eyes drifted back down to her end of the bar. He stood, leaving a few bills on the bar then started walking towards the door. He stopped in front of her, tipping his cowboy hat.
“I’ll see ya outside, darlin’.”
(Y/N) heard the other bartender sigh, making her giggle as she watched him walk out the door, “Do you mind if I take off a little early?”
“Only if you tell me all about it tomorrow.”
(Y/N) grabbed her things, “I promise and thank you.”
She rushed outside to see Tyler leaning up against a black SUV which was not what she was expecting him to drive. He opened the passenger door for her.
“You seemed surprised.”
“I was expecting a big old truck for a cowboy.”
He chuckled, “Not all cowboys drive trucks, but mine happens to be at home.” He shut her door then went around getting in on the driver’s side.
(Y/N) typed in her address on his GPS, “Alright cowboy, take me home.”
She lived close to the bar which tonight she was grateful for. She couldn’t take her eyes off him as he drove down the road. His eyes focused on the road, while one hand rested on his thigh. His fingers were tapping on the steering wheel to the beat of the song.
“So, tell me (Y/N) do you often bring cowboys home from the bar?”
She smiled, “Would it be a problem if I did?”
He shrugged, “Just wanting to know if I have competition or not.”
(Y/N) reached over, grabbing his hand and placing it on her thigh, “No competition. My focus is full on you tonight.”
He squeezed her thigh, “Good to know.”
He pulled into her driveway and as soon as they were inside, Tyler’s lips were on hers. Reaching down, he scooped her up, wrapping her legs around his waist and pressing her back against the door.
“Bedroom?” He mumbled against her lips.
“Down the hall and to the left.”
His lips were leaving a hot trail down her neck as he walked into her bedroom and sat down on her bed. (Y/N) pulled away for only a moment to grab his hat off the top of his head and place it on hers.
“You should know sweetheart there’s a rule about stealing a cowboy’s hat.”
“Oh really?” She leaned down kissing him, “And what’s that?”
He smirked, “Wear the hat, ride the cowboy.”
She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, “Well, I’ll have you know that I’m definitely a rule follower.”
She gently pushed him back onto the bed, taking her time to unbutton his plaid shirt. She knew he was fit, but seeing how well toned his body was nearly took her breath away. (Y/N) leaned down pressing her lips against his chest.
“There’s just one thing I want to get away of the way before we continue.” She kissed her way up to his ear, kissing just beneath it.
“W-What that’s?” He asked breathlessly.
She whispered, “I know who you are.”
His body froze, hard with tension, “R-Really?”
“Mmhmm,” (Y/N) hovered over him, seeing panic fill his eyes, “If you want to continue playing ‘Tyler’ then I’m one hundred percent okay with that, but…”
His arms wrapped around her back as he sat back up, holding her in place, “But?”
(Y/N) ran her fingers through his soft, golden hair, “I would much rather cry out your real name if you want this to continue. I will understand if you don’t though. I’m sure you get fans hitting on you all the time.”
His eyes were closed as she continued to massage his scalp, “Not as often as you’d think.”
“Really?” He hummed before opening his eyes when she dropped her hands to his shoulders, “I wanted to be honest with you. You deserve that. Yes, I’m a fan of yours, but honestly I didn’t flirt with you because you’re famous.”
“Then why did you flirt with me?” He asked as his hands pushed up underneath her shirt.
“Because I watched you for hours kindly turn down every woman that did hit on you. You’re a gentleman and those are rare nowadays.” He took his hat off her head, pulling her shirt off completely, “Also, I can’t resist a sexy cowboy, especially a sexy Texan cowboy.”
His laugh was low and deep, sending shivers down her body. His large hand gathered her hair making her eyes close and soft moan escape her lips.
“This may be a one night thing. I’m filming a movie here in Enid and then I’ll be off to film another one somewhere else. Are you okay with that?”
She leaned over grabbing his hat and placing it on her head, “Rules are rules. I firmly believe in following them fully.”
Glen leaned back onto her bed then smacked her ass, “Then giddy up, cowgirl.”
The next morning, (Y/N) woke up to an empty bed. The disappointment of not seeing him washed away when she found a note sitting on her bedside table.
I had an early call time and couldn’t bring myself to wake you. Last night was amazing and will replay in my head all day. I put my number in your phone. Beautiful and smart women are rare and I don’t want to let you go. Who knows, maybe Tyler will be at the bar again tonight. -GP
Her phone buzzed with a text and she giggled seeing the name he put in there.
Texan Cowboy: Good morning beautiful, I miss you already.
“Fuck me, I love this man.” She murmured before sending him a text back.

Since there is apparently a glen powell fic shortage, I've started writing an rpf fic series, about Glen meeting an ofc named Billie who has a Golden Retriever named Nugget (because Brisket and Nugget? How fkn cute 😍). Lots of fluff and smut will ensue, with a little bit of angst thrown in!
Let me know if you'd like to be tagged! First chapter will be up in the next few days.

Wonderland
{ Glen Powell x Reader } | { Song Inspiration: Wonderland by Taylor Swift }
Tumblr media
A/N 📝: This is my first RPF. May decide to continue writing more. This one had been sitting in my Google Docs for a few weeks. In all honesty, I never intended to share it. But here we are.
TW ⚠️: mentions of death threats and fatphobic comments
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Speculations were everywhere. Fans getting a little too invested and involved in celebrities' relationships. You’re not going to lie: you enjoyed reading the tabloids but you also knew not all were truthful.
One of the latest was of Glen Powell and his longtime girlfriend. Many were saying he and his latest co-star were looking a little too close for comfort. It didn’t help that his girlfriend posted to her social media that she was never better and posted a song of heartbreak.
There was no proof of anything yet, however, just the thought of a breakup saddened you. You couldn’t help but be a hopeless romantic. Yet you knew you also were hopeless at love.
Here you were in your early 30s, perpetually single and with no prospects. Luckily you didn’t feel like a burden to your parents, as they were both deceased. You also had some money saved up so Lizzie couldn’t judge you.
It was a Sunday when the fans started the speculation on Wobbel.com. You decided to log off the site not to add views to the rumors. Instead, you focused on finishing your dress for the concert of the year, at least in your opinion.
You turn on your playlist and drown out the whole world as you work on your dress. Once the adjustments are done, you head to the gym. Today also marks your third birthday celebrating alone. Nobody told you to move to the middle of nowhere Georgia. Okay fine, it was a small town but you needed a change and a new start after living all your life in a big city.
You chuckled to yourself when the small tv on the treadmill was playing Scream Queens. Of course, Glen would follow you. If only you could get a chance to meet him in person. ‘Like that would ever happen,’ you think to yourself.
After you return home, you decide to watch Top Gun: Maverick as a little birthday treat.
The days fly by and the next thing you know you’re sitting at your seat at the concert waiting for the headline artist to start. It takes you by surprise when none other than Danny Ramirez and his fiancée, Baylie, sit to your left.
You’re even doubly surprised when Miles Teller and his little family of three sit to your right. Miles and his wife Grace decided to bring their daughter Caroline to the concert. You told yourself to breathe and act normal. You even offered them to sit together and you’d move.
“No no, it’s okay. You paid for your seat,” Grace tells you.
“I don’t mind. It’s just two seats being shifted,” you say.
“Auntie Baaaaaayyyyy!” Caroline squeals and scrambles over your legs to get to the other girl.
Miles discreetly tells his daughter to apologize, but you shake your head. “She’s small and excited. I would be like that too.” Pretty soon, Baylie and Grace are making easy conversation with you and telling you the stories of how they met the guys. The four of you start singing and screaming along wince the concert starts.
Halfway through the concert, Miles steps away to take a call. When he comes back, he returns with the one and only Glen Powell. You were a hot sweaty mess. Never in your wildest dreams did you imagine meeting him at a concert.
Flashes started going off around you as the fans spotted them and were going crazy taking pictures and videos of them. You made sure to stay out of the pictures as you weren’t here with them. You even offered to take the pictures for some of the fans, holding back chuckles at some of the girls throwing themselves at Glen.
After the excitement died down, you were able to finish enjoying the concert. At the end of the concert, you exchanged contact information with Baylie and Grace. You give Caroline the necklace you had bought as merch, since she was crying she didn’t get one. Grace insisted you join them for a group picture.
You stood to her right, only to have Glen stand behind you while wrapping an arm around you. Eventually, you do manage to start walking back to your car, only to be stopped by Glen who also wanted to exchange contact information with you. In all honesty, you think nothing of it. You know you’re not his type. You’ll never be his type.
To your surprise, he texted you to make sure you made it home safely. From there it turns into daily text conversations and long FaceTime calls when he’s not on set or with his family. You learn he and his girlfriend took a break to reevaluate their relationship, as well as take time to focus on their respective careers.
Didn't they tell us "Don't rush into things"? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?
Curiosity is what won out in the end. The curiosity of his fans. The curiosity of the paparazzi. It was after the first week of the pictures from the concert went viral that the first wave of hate tweets came your way.
“She’s so fat for Glen.”
“She’s not Gigi or Sydney.”
“I hope she dies for breaking them up.”
Your phone kept ringing from calls and texts that you just turned it off once old friends caught sight of the pictures. You felt bad but you even ignored the calls and texts from Baylie and Grace.
What’s worse is that the paparazzi and over-the-top obsessed Glen fans found and leaked your personal information online. They even started leaving negative reviews on your bookstore’s website. All of them have to do with you being a whore and a homewrecker for breaking up Glen and his girlfriend.
But there were strangers watchin'
And whispers turned to talkin'
And talking turned to screams, oh
But it was too late. You had fallen for him. Truly fallen in love with the man that Glen is, not the public persona he lets others see. You both shared things about your family that nobody else really knew.
That’s when you started getting death threats. It was this that was your breaking point. After a couple of weeks of no contact, you decide to call Glen back and tell him to please clear the air. Your once-friendly conversations turn cold and bitter and eventually, you’re both screaming at each other.
This is what both of you knew would happen but wanted to avoid. Glen does what his publicist says and ignores the comments on social media. And you can’t blame him because it’s his life and job that are involved. However, you wish he would at least fight on your behalf and clear the air.
You had never truly felt so alone as you did now. Everyone in your so-called circle of friends all sided with Glen’s ex. You lost the support of regular customers. Nobody was in your corner, so to speak, defending you.
You slowly shut down every social media page you had, even changing your phone number. Guilt plagued you for not telling Baylie or Grace but you accepted that they were friends with Glen before they ever met you.
I reached for you, but you were gone
I knew I had to go back home
Even though you had changed your number, Glen managed to find your new number and he texted you one last time. There were many days you wished you never opened that text message.
Tumblr media
That day you closed the shop early and went upstairs to your apartment and cried yourself to sleep. Of course, you could never blame him, he did deserve to be happy. You just wished it was you who he could be happy with.
Slowly the calls to your bookstore became again about books. The paparazzi all left one day and have yet to return. The hate mail and notes at your front door stopped. When you check the mail a few months after things died down, you’re surprised to find a wedding invitation to Danny and Baylie’s wedding.
You wish you could immediately respond yes as an RVSP but you hesitated. What if he were there? Would rumors spiral out of control and ruin the wedding? Instead of dwelling too much on what if, you take out your notebook and start writing the lyrics to a new song.
You searched the world for somethin' else
To make you feel like what we had
And in the end, in Wonderland, we both went mad
Despite feeling like you would trigger new rumors, you arrived at the wedding venue and sat away from everyone. You could still feel eyes on you and heard people whispering. You kept your eyes on the groom or down at the wedding program.
It was a beautiful ceremony. William and Delilah gave Baylie away to Danny. The happy newly married couple just kept smiling brightly at each other. Glen catches sight of you as he walks back up the aisle after Miles and Grace. You do your best to not react to him, but inside you wanted to run to him and hug him. Your feet and mind however had another idea.
You quickly made your way out of the church through the side door. Finding a private room, you close the door behind you and slide down against it crying. Seeing him but not being able to speak to him hurt too much. It hurt even more when you heard that he was now engaged to his girlfriend.
Your absence at the reception didn’t go unnoticed. What went unnoticed was the pain you felt at seeing all the happy faces full of love that reminded you how alone you were. No friends to drop everything to come to help you. No significant other to share a home with. No parents to comfort you.
With the self-made promise of a new start, you head to your hotel room. You let the exhaustion of the day lull you to sleep, only to be awoken by knocking at your door an hour later.

The Night Changes - The Accident
Tumblr media
Thank you everyone for giving the teaser a chance. Now on to the real thing. Let me know what you think. My inbox is always open if you want to chat 🤗
Summary: After a night out on New Year's Eve you end up in a fatal accident. But how come you wake up in a not so stranger's bed? Somewhere that didn't make any sense as you should be dead. [ 1.1k; car accident, cursing]
Masterlist | Next Part
We′re only getting older, baby And I′ve been thinking about it lately Does it ever drive you crazy Just how fast the night changes?
The radio was still running, the soft words too quiet to be heard over the ringing in your ears.
“Life is a fickle thing.” You couldn’t remember if it was a line in a book or movie, or just one of those daily quote things but it sure as hell was true.
One minute you were on your way home from a party, the next you were pinned behind the steering wheel of your friend's truck. The rescue team was bustling around, the three girls you had gone with already loaded into the ambulances, but you…
You were stuck, tears running down your face. “It hurts. Can't feel…my legs.” you mumbled, breaths labored but feeling warm hands on your neck.
“I know, sweets, we’ll work quickly to get you out. Just stay with me for a bit, yeah?”
Nodding was hard work, your head feeling like it would explode any minute from the pain there. And the blood running down, dripping into your eyes wasn’t helping one bit to make you see your surroundings better. The female paramedic, you guessed by the sound of her voice reaching around your neck. "It's all good, I'll just put on a brace for you. It will help a bit with the pain there."
"M-my frie…nds…"
"We took care of them, now it's your turn hun. But you gotta help us, okay." A moan tore from your throat, as the car was jostled by the firefighters. The paramedic apologized, brushing her hand over your hair as they laid the large coat over you. "Andrew will cut away a piece of the car so we'll get you out."
Her words were becoming more and more blurry as you fought to stay awake. The pain became a dull ache and you vaguely remembered reading when you die, there is no severe pain.
You could feel her getting frantic, searching for your pulse as your breathing slowed, just like your heartbeat. Shouts rang out all around you and hands were hastily reaching for your broken body. There was a pressure on your chest and then…
Stillness.
Calmness.
Quietness.
Nothingness
Tumblr media
A moan left your lips as the beeping sounded next to your ear. You were sore, your legs feeling like they had been asleep for a while but it felt nothing like the pain back in the car - maybe the stuff they gave you was that good. Or you didn't make it with all limbs, seeing as you were pinned in your seat.
"Sorry, baby, I gotta get to the gym." A sleep roughed voice mumbled, arms circling your waist and pulling you back against a warm, broad chest.
This definitely wasn't the hospital. And that voice sent shivers down your spine, knowing it from somewhere but you couldn't pin your finger on it right now. Something definitely wasn't the way it was supposed to be. Maybe you were dreaming; but the warmth on your back felt very real.
Maybe you really were dead and it was God's cruel joke of an afterlife, giving you something you had wanted for a very long time.
Just then the body leaned over you, soft lips pressing down gently on the corner of your mouth and yet you felt wrong. Your eyes snapping open, pushing the man away from you with a scream as you scrambled to get out of the bed.
"Baby, are you okay? What's going on?"
Breathing harshly, you stumbled with your numb legs tangled in the sheets. Hoping to find purchase, your arms flailed but your foot slipped and then there was a crack as you fell against the nightstand, your head hitting the floor with a soft thud. It wasn't enough to seriously injure you, ending up dead a second time, but enough that whoever had been with you panicked.
"Fuck!"
The second time you heard the beeping noise next to your ear it was steady, not annoying like an alarm. Your head was splitting open, a pounding ache in your temple.
“We’ll have to do some more tests once she wakes up. Your girlfriend hit her head pretty hard, despite I guess it’s a mild concussion, but better be safe than sorry."
"’M not his girlfriend.” you mumbled, listening in on the conversation. Your eyes open, but unfocused on the ceiling, the ache in your head making it hard to settle on one place.
“Hey, darling, I’m so glad”
“Don’t call me that, I don’t even know you.” Funnily enough you did know him, but all of this had to be a dream or maybe a cruel joke about your after life.
Glen Powell, actor and producer, best known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick  was standing next to your bed, his thumb brushing over the back of the hand he was holding. Your name rolled off his lips and you felt a flutter in your belly. It was every woman’s dream watching him act to be near him and here you were, in a dreamscape, being told you were his girlfriend. “Sweetheart, you know me, come on. You call me Dream Machine and Hot Lips, don’t you remember?”
“Mister Powell, please, let’s evaluate what’s going on. The fall and hit could have caused some temporary amnesia, her memory might be affected slightly.” The doctor tried to calm him down and somehow your heart hurt seeing him so sad.
He opened his mouth to protest, but a nurse already moved into the room, taking him out so you were alone with the middle aged man.
“Now Miss, we’re alone. You can talk freely, is there anything you remember? About your boyfriend or what happened when you fell.”
Swallowing you turned to the doctor, anxious about what to tell him without sounding like someone to get to the crazy ward. “Glen…Mister Powell is not my boyfriend, I know him from his movie Top Gun: Maverick. I’ve seen it in theaters and let me tell you - it’s amazing. But I have no idea how I ended up in his bed. We were at a New Years party.”
“We?”
“My friends and I, there was an accident, I…I was pinned behind the wheel and my friends were taken to the hospital. There was just pain, I couldn’t feel my legs.” You saw his brows furrow even more.
“When was this party, do you remember? The date?”
Shaking your head at his question. Of course you did. It had been less than 24 hours since it happened. “We were celebrating 2023, it was December 31st in 2022.”
“Are you really sure, miss? Was it really New Year's Eve in 2022?”
Nodding your head, you saw him take a deep breath. “If that is the case I think this is more than just mere amnesia.”

Working together with Glen has been nothing short of a dream, and to be working as a lead in a romantic comedy alongside him is the cherry on top. You have been working hard to earn your footing in Hollywood, and this will be your first major role, which only makes it much more special to be working with your celebrity crush.
However, you don't know that he's harboring the same feelings for you, but he's scared to admit it. While he's open to falling in love, he never expected to find it in you - a sweet, soft-spoken girl who has stolen his heart from day one. He never used to believe in love at first sight, but that all changed when he met you. Your shared moments on set, the laughter you've shared, and the way he looks at you when he thinks you're not looking, all these things have made his feelings for you undeniable.
Glen has invited every member of the filming cast and crew to a barbecue and pool party at his house in Austin, and everyone's having a great time. Still, all you can focus on is Glen, his ridiculously delicious hairy chest, and his beautiful smile, which lights up his features.
"Are you even listening to me, or are you too busy drooling over Glen again?" you suddenly hear a woman say, and it's only then that you're snapped back to reality.
"I- uhm- Sorry. My mind was somewhere else," you admit shyly, and just when you look away, Glen looks over at you, but you don't notice. A wave of disappointment washes over him as his attempts to catch your eye fail - he hasn't been able to stop thinking about them for the longest time - but he's run out of luck.
"Why don't you just go up to her and tell her how you feel?!" Glen's trainer says, and Glen turns a deep shade of red at the thought.
"I- No! There's nothing to tell," he says with a bit of a grumble, but it's pretty clear to anyone but the two of you how the other feels. The chemistry between you two practically jumps out of the screen when you're working together, and while everyone's well aware it's because of your mutual pining, they also wish you two would get it over with. And that same night, it finally happens.
The pool party finished a while ago, and you and Glen are seated on a large couch he has in his backyard, cuddled under a soft, warm blanket as it's getting rather chilly, while watching the stars. The twinkling lights above you reflect in his deep, brown eyes, and the cool breeze ruffles his hair. He's sipping on a beer while you're enjoying a soda, and it's the perfect ending to a fun day.
"Can I tell you something?" Glen asks out of nowhere, and your heart starts to beat faster as he pulls you closer. You hum in response, your eyes closed to enjoy the moment for as long as possible - waiting for the moment he'll tell you that he's in love with someone other than yourself.
"I- I fucking love you, and that scares the hell out of me!" he blurts out, and you immediately sit upright, your eyes shooting open as your gaze meets his. A deep red blush covers his face and creeps down his neck as he confesses his love for you in a way he never would have envisioned. His voice trembles with fear and anticipation, and his eyes are filled with a mix of hope and dread.
"Y- You love me?" you ask, and he looks at the beer in his hands as he nods. He knows he won't be able to look at you as you reject him, but he couldn't be more surprised at the words that he hears next.
"Can you look at me, Glen? Because I have to tell you something, too," you say, and he does after sighing and gathering all his courage. Once his eyes are focused on yours, you're getting lost in the green of his irises, and they remind you of so many beautiful memories you've shared.
"I love you too, Glen. I'm in love with you. I have been for years now, as you have been my celebrity crush for as long as I can remember. You're very kind, and there's something special about you. I enjoy spending time with you, and never get bored when I'm around you-" is all you can say before you're cut off mid-sentence.
The warmth of Glen's palm radiates through your entire body as it cups your cheek, and the softness of his lips makes your nerves feel like they're on fire. Your hands land on his hairy chest, your fingers reveling in the feeling of its coarseness underneath them. And most of all, you're getting lost in his taste.
The beer he's been sipping combined with something so him has your mind going into overdrive, and when he pulls away, you can't help but smile like a teenager who just had their first kiss. You lock eyes with him and see the shimmer in them that you've fallen for. The shimmer that lets you know he's happy and that he's in love with you. One that's only visible when he's around the woman he loves: You.

Title: Fireworks Summary: When (Y/N)’s BFF invites her to a 4th of July party she would never imagine meeting the man of her dreams… literally. Main Characters: Glen Powell, Reader Pairing: Glen Powell x Reader Rating: E - Everyone Warnings: Fluffy/RPF Word Count: 5376 A/N: Jumping back into the saddle so please forgive all the rough edges.
“Honey, I’m home!”
(Y/N) looked up to see her best friend walking through her front door, “Addison! Why didn’t you tell me you were in town?”
She hugged her hard, missing her BFF more than she realized. A year ago, Addison got the opportunity of a lifetime to be the personal assistant to a Hollywood actor. She had been traveling the world, hanging out on movie sets and living her best life. Meanwhile, (Y/N) was still living in their hometown of Austin, Texas working at the same high school, in the same position for nearly a decade.
“I’m sorry, my boss has had me planning this big Fourth of July party and today is the first day I’ve had time to come see you.”
They both sat down on her couch as (Y/N) paused her millionth rewatch of Supernatural, “How are you planning a party here if he lives in L.A.?”
Addison smiled, “He recently moved back to Austin, so it looks like I will be coming back here as well.”
(Y/N) let out a squeal hugging her friend tightly, “Oh my god, that’s amazing! I mean I know you’re gonna be busy but damn will it be good to have you back here.”
For the next few hours they caught up on each other’s lives or lack of one for (Y/N). They ordered dinner and were getting ready to watch one of their favorite rom-coms when Addison’s phone rang.
“Hey boss, what’s up?”
(Y/N) watched her friend’s face light up and suddenly her body was filled with envy. She was incredibly proud of the life her friend created but it was a reminder of how boring of a life she had. She couldn’t even remember the last thing she had been excited for except for maybe the new Twisters movie coming out later in the month.
“You got it. I will confirm everything and send you an email update.” Addison paused listening, “Yes, I will make sure to bring someone with me. See you tomorrow.”
“From the look on your face I would say you love your job.” Addison nodded with a smile, “I really do. He’s great and nothing like the other Hollywood douchebags. He’s just a good ole Texas boy. Kind of reminds me of Jensen and Jared.”
(Y/N) remembered her best friend's time volunteering at Creation Entertainment Supernatural conventions. She eventually was one of the workers who helped walk the actors to and from ops. Several times she had walked with Jared Padalecki or (Y/N)’s favorite actor, Jensen Ackles. That was how she had met them and found out they were truly just as nice and humble as everyone said they were.
“He wants me to bring someone to his party. What do you say?”
“Me?” She stared at Addison, “Don’t you think you should bring someone more interesting or fun?”
Her friend slipped her arm around (Y/N)’s shoulders, “No. There’s no one else I would rather bring than my best friend. Plus, who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone there and hit it off.”
“Yeah. Right.” She scoffed, “The plain Jane school secretary hitting it off with some Hollywood hunk. This is reality and not fanfiction.”
“Please? For me? It would mean the world to me if you came and then I can finally introduce you to my boss.” Addison stuck out her bottom lip in a pout.
(Y/N) narrowed her eyes then smiled, “Fine. Only because I love you.”
“Yay! If you want we can go get you a swimsuit and a new outfit. On me, of course, as a thank you.”
“I’m immediately regretting this decision…” She groaned.
The next day, they spent the day going to lunch and shopping. After one crying session in a dressing room and a slight argument in front of a cashier, (Y/N) arrived back home with three bags worth of stuff. Addison had convinced her to buy a two piece swimsuit. She was always hyper aware of her body even after losing a lot of weight. She was still plus size with killer curves and she was proud of her body. Knowing she was going to be around beautiful actors and models made her notice every little imperfection she had. Staring at the dark green checkered pattern suit made her stomach churn.
“It will be fine, (Y/N). No one is going to notice you anyway.” She murmured to herself.
The morning of July 4th, Addison was at her apartment bright and early, “I’m sorry it’s so early on your day off. My boss wants me at his house early and I figured you wanted to ride over with me.”
(Y/N) yawned, “It’s fine. I have my Monster and should be some form of human like by the time we get there.”
Addison led her out to a brand new Jeep Wrangler that was the same orange as the Longhorns. They threw their stuff in the back and headed off onto highway 290 towards Dripping Springs.
“Please tell me this is his car and not yours.” (Y/N) said as Addison started laughing.
“Yes, it’s his. I still have old faithful who recently hit 200,000 miles and is still purring like a kitten.” Addison turned on her Spotify playlist, “He’s a big Longhorns fan so anything he can get in burnt orange he does.”
One thing (Y/N) loved about living in Austin was the scenery. It had been awhile since she had driven out to Hill Country. The last remaining bluebonnets were holding on strong from a late blooming season mixing with other wildflowers. She couldn’t help to notice they were headed the same direction as Family Business Brewery.
“If we’re going to Family Business and Jensen is going to be there then I need some notice to calm my inner fangirl.”
Addison shook her head, “No, he just lives near there. I know he invited Jensen and Jared’s families but I think they have a convention this weekend.”
(Y/N) let out a sigh of relief then continued to admire the scenery around her while they sang to their favorite songs. Soon they were pulling up to a newly built, gated home. The main house was a subtly modern farmhouse with a big wrap around porch. Addison parked in front of the three car garage behind the house and that’s when (Y/N) saw a beautiful red barn straight out of a western movie.
“Wow…” She said, grabbing her things and following her friend to the pool house.
“Make yourself at home, this is where I stay. It’s easier for me to be close by than to have my own place and worry about subletting it.”
(Y/N) found pictures of her best friend in various cities, countries with celebrities she admired. There were also plenty of pictures of them together throughout their friendship including childhood and being roommates at UT-Austin. She looked at one picture of Addison pulled into a big hug from Glen Powell.
“You’ve met Glen Powell and didn’t tell me!” (Y/N) smacked her BFF’s shoulder, “How dare you.”
Addison laughed, “He’s a sweetheart.”
“Talk about good ole Texas boy… by god not that I need another bow legged Texan to love, but whew!” (Y/N) fanned herself.
“Come on, help me organize the food and everything before my boss gets home.”
There were tables set up in the massive backyard with a food buffet large enough to feed an army. (Y/N) found herself enjoying helping Addison get everything ready. She was helping the DJ get set up in the barn when Addison called out to her.
“Hey, my boss is here. I’m going to the main house to help him with something then I’ll be back.”
“Got it boss lady!” (Y/N) laughed as her friend rolled her eyes.
She was putting the last touches of the Firecracker themed tables together when a low, raspy voice came from behind her.
“Nicely done. You must be Addison’s best friend.”
She turned around and froze, “Holy shit, you’re Glen Powell.”
He laughed holding out his hand to her, “Yes, but not the OG Glen. He’s in the house right now. You’re (Y/N), right? Addison talks about you all the time.”
She slipped her hand into his then flinched from the electric current running up her arm. From his wide green eyes, she assumed he felt it too.
“Uh, y-yeah that’s me. Um…” She swallowed hard, “Sorry, my inner fangirl is having a mild heart attack right now.”
His deep, rich laugh blanketed her body in warmth, “Well hopefully your inner fangirl won’t pass out. Calling 911 is not on my list today.”
“I promise, she’ll be fine. Still getting used to my BFF hanging out with celebrities, especially ones that I love.”
The bright smile on his face nearly melted her heart, “Awe, so you love me?”
“Uh… yes, I mean… yes I love your movies and you seem like a really great person.” (Y/N) mentally kicked herself.
Shut up. Stop talking you weirdo.
“Thanks, I try to be a good guy. Main reason why I moved back to Austin. Stay grounded in my home roots. Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting to know you. I better get back to the main house and see what kind of chaos my family is causing for Addison.”
“Oh, okay. Talk to you later.” (Y/N) watched as he walked out of the barn then finally let out a shaky breath.
She immediately went in search of her best friend, finding her near the buffet. She smacked her shoulder several times as Addison tried to defend herself with tongs.
“What the hell (Y/N)!”
“Why didn’t you tell me that Glen Powell was your boss?! A little warning would have been nice so I could prepare myself.”
Addison chuckled, “Damn, I missed you meeting him. I was hoping to see your face.”
She smacked her shoulder again, “Not funny. It was like the first time I met Jensen and my brain short circuited.”
Now Addison was nearly falling down laughing, “Did you word vomit all over him?”
“No! Though I did mention my inner fangirl having a heart attack. Also, the first thing out of my mouth was ‘Holy shit, you’re Glen Powell.”
“Oh my god!” Her friend was rolling in laughter, “God, I wish I had been there for that.”
“That’s it, I’m leaving. I’ve already embarrassed myself and who knows who else will be here for me to embarrass myself in front of.”
(Y/N) started to head towards the front of the house when Addison reached out grabbing her arm.
“Wait, wait. I’m sorry, I should have warned you. Glen only invited a few actors that live around here over. Honestly, I think Zac Levi is the only one confirmed to be coming. Other than that, it’s mostly Glen’s family and friends.”
“Zac Levi?” She stared at her, “Zachary fucking Levi… oh god, I’m out. Me and my inner fangirl cannot handle this.”
Addison ran in front of her, grabbing a hold of her shoulders, “(Y/N), they are just humans like you and me.”
“Humans that are sculpted out of marble by the good lord himself with a good heaping pile of sex god appeal. Not like me. They’re main character energy and I’m one of the background people no one sees.”
“(Y/N) stop. Trust me, stay and hang out with me. Glen said once everything was set up that I was off the rest of the night. That means, it’s you and me hanging out by the pool, eating our weight in BBQ and watching fireworks. With some particularly good eye candy around.”
Addison was looking at her with pleading eyes, “Please stay and find out for yourself that they are normal dudes. Just like when we hung out with Jared and Jensen.”
(Y/N) sighed, “Only because I love you more than life itself and I have no way of getting home.”
Addison pulled her into a hug, “Thank you.”
“Group hug? I want to join!” Before (Y/N) could look up, she was sandwiched between her best friend and a firm body behind her. Instantly she was enveloped in a woodsy smell with a hint of citrus. Glen squeezed them together making both girls laugh.
“Can’t… breathe… Powell.” Addison managed to squeak out as he let go of them.
“Sorry, just wanted to be a part of your little moment.” He joked.
(Y/N) turned around sucking in a breath and trying to keep her jaw from slacking. Standing before her was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Which said a lot since up until that point it had been Jensen Ackles who was the most beautiful man in her mind. Glen was wearing a pair of swim trunks with firecrackers all over them that hung low on his hips. His golden skin was glowing beneath the Texas sun and on top of his golden hair was an American flag cowboy hat.
“Ladies, I believe everything is set up and our first wave of guests have arrived. That means, Addison, you are officially off the clock and my last request is for you both to have a great time tonight.”
They looked at one another then saluted Glen saying together, “Yes sir.”
His laughter filled the air, “Your salutes need some work but we can work on that later. Now, go! Get drunk, eat and have fun.”
Addison hooked her arm with (Y/N)’s and they headed back towards the pool. For the first couple of hours, (Y/N) laid out on one of the chairs by the pool. One of the only things she loved about parties was people watching. There was no shortage of people to watch here. Glen’s family was an absolute joy to meet. Currently, his dad was in the pool playing with his grandkids while his mom was sitting on the edge hanging her feet into the water.
(Y/N) watched as Zac Levi walked through the main house with a cooler and a few of his friends. She was surprised to see him pull Addison into a hug then kiss her cheek. She made a mental note to ask her what was up with that later. Sipping on her beer, she watched as a group of guys including Glen and Zac started a game of football. Addison was talking with Glen’s sisters when suddenly there was a shout.
“Watch out!”
Before (Y/N) could look up, she was hit with something hard in her chest. She let out a loud grunt and her beer dumped down the front of her.
“Shit! (Y/N) are you alright?” Glen asked as he and Addison ran up to her.
She groaned, “Fine, just covered in beer.”
“I can show you where you clean up.” Glen said, taking the football that had hit her and tossing it to his brother-in-law.
He held out his hand to her and helped her up from her seat. She looked back at Addison who was smiling like the Cheshire cat. She narrowed her eyes at her friend suddenly smelling a set up and beer… lots of beer.
Glen led her into the main house and up the stairs. They walked into the largest bedroom she had ever seen and immediately knew this had to be his room.
“You can use my bathroom to wash up and I’ll get you some clothes to wear.”
She chuckled, “Um, I’m pretty sure your clothes won’t fit me.”
He arched an eyebrow at her, “I’m sure I can find something or if you prefer to walk around in a towel only then that’s cool too.”
“No! Oh god, no.” She sighed, “Thank you. I appreciate anything you can find for me.”
“You’re welcome.” He walked into his large closet while she went into his master bathroom and shut the door.
Leaning against it, she took a moment to calm her frantic nerves. A week ago, she was home rewatching Top Gun: Maverick and now she was standing in Glen Powell’s bathroom. Quickly, she stripped out of her soiled clothes and swimsuit. She turned on the water of the massive shower and let the hot water beat down on her tense muscles. She heard the door opening and immediately tried to cover herself.
“There’s clothes on my bed for you.”
(Y/N) noticed he had his hand covering his eyes even though he couldn’t see her from where the door was. Her heart skipped from the small gesture.
“T-Thank you. I’ll be back out in a few minutes.”
“Take your time.” He closed the door.
(Y/N) noticed his shampoo was the citrus she had smelled earlier while his body wash was the woods smell. She decided that combination was her new favorite smell. Once she was out of the shower and wrapped in one of his towels she walked out to find his door closed. On the bed was an extra large Longhorns t-shirt and gym shorts. There was also a pair of black Calvin Klein boxer-briefs which she was thankful for. However, not having a bra to wear was going to be difficult.
She stepped into his closet and chuckled from all the burnt orange shirts. She found one of his tank tops and slipped it on. She rolled the bottom up beneath her breasts and tied it off with her ponytail. The girls would at least be secured but one good cool wind and her nipples would be on display.
“Maybe it’s time to step up to whiskey.” She muttered as she slipped on the rest of Glen’s clothes.
Opening the door, she found a muscular, tan back standing there like a bodyguard, “Sorry, I just didn’t want anyone walking in here on you. My family is not big on boundaries nor are my niece and nephew.”
She chuckled, “Thanks for keeping watch and for the clothes.”
He turned around and she watched as his eyes traveled the length of her body. Goosebumps spread across her flushed skin. When his eyes came back up to hers they were darker and filled with something that she refused to let herself believe was there.
“Have to say, those look way better on you than on me.”
(Y/N)’s default mode clicked on whenever she received compliments, “I highly doubt that, but thanks. They’re at least more comfortable than my swimsuit. By the way, do you have somewhere I could wash my clothes out?”
“Yeah, give them to me and I’ll put them in the washer. You can head back out to enjoy the party.” She handed him her suit and clothes, “Man, I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you in this. I bet it looked great on you.”
He headed down the stairs leaving (Y/N) speechless. Was Glen Powell flirting with her? No way. She was delusional from the alcohol and sun. She headed back outside where she found Addison swimming in the pool with Zac. Seeing them together, she knew she didn’t need to ask if they were together. It was obvious by the way they looked at one another that they were. Once again, (Y/N)’s green eyed monster raged inside of her. Deciding she needed some more time alone, she headed out towards the barn then kept walking to the field behind it.
She was watching a team of guys setting up fireworks for the big display later that night. She could still hear everyone laughing and having fun behind her, suddenly she felt tears falling down her cheeks. She loved her best friend, but it was obvious she didn’t fit into her life anymore. She was hanging out and dating celebrities and traveling the world.
What was she doing? Still working the same job and never allowing anyone to get close to her. She gave up on dating after her one and only boyfriend had cheated on her. Did she want someone in her life? The family and white picket fence? Of course, but the closer to forty she was getting the further away that dream seemed to be getting. Seeing how happy Addison was and how wonderful her life was a harsh reminder of how meaningless her own life was.
“You okay?”
Turning around, she found Glen walking up now wearing a navy tank top and his dark Ray Bans covering his eyes. She quickly wiped away the wayward tears.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just needed a moment.”
He leaned his forearms against the fence, looking out over the field, “I see you found my ‘I need a moment’ spot. I love coming out here and just being. I don’t have to be actor Glen, but just me.”
“I bet that is exhausting.” He nodded as she looked at him from the corner of her eyes, “On behalf of fans everywhere, I appreciate all the hard work you put into your characters. I can’t tell you the number of nights I have watched one of your rom-coms laughing and making my day better.”
He looked down at her with a smile, “Thanks, that means a hell of a lot to me.”
“However, I have to say, I wish they would pair you up with a woman your age. Seeing you make out with a woman ten years younger gives girls like me a complex.” She chuckled.
“How so?” He asked, turning towards her.
She sighed, “You never see a leading woman that is both older and doesn’t have a model’s body. The average size of a woman is 14/16 which is plus size and if I had to guess I bet the majority of rom-com audience is like me. A woman in her late thirties, plus size, single and looking for hope that men like Glen Powell would be interested in her.”
“You don’t think guys like me would be with a woman like you?”
His question was genuine, but made her scoff, “In the movies they aren’t. Why would I believe that in real life? Probably why I’ve been single for over a decade now. It’s easier to fantasize over fictional men or celebrities than putting myself out there to get humiliated.”
He stepped closer to her, his fingers brushing against her cheek and tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. He pushed his sunglasses up on top of his head and his glossy eyes were staring down into hers. She had dreamt of him looking at her in this very way a million times. The way he looked at every leading lady in one of his rom-coms.
Tumblr media
“What if I told you that I do find you attractive? That I find you incredibly sexy.”
“I’d say that you’re a great actor.” She tried to look away, but he gently grabbed her chin making her look at him.
“I’m not acting. The moment Addison showed me a picture of the two of you, I thought you were the most gorgeous woman I’d ever seen. The way she gushes about you and all the work you do for your students. The difference you’re making in their lives. I couldn’t imagine anything more sexy than a woman who loves to help those who need it.”
(Y/N) stepped away from him, “It’s really nothing special. Yes, I’m there for them and help them in any way I can, but so do a lot of staff. Honestly, there’s nothing special about me. I’m definitely not gorgeous. I mean, you’re around beautiful actresses and models all the time. They’re gorgeous, me not so much.”
“Addison warned me that you usually put yourself down when you receive compliments.” He took a step towards her engaging in an awkward dance as she stepped backwards.
“Warned you? So, this was a set up?” (Y/N) rolled her eyes, “Did she really think you were going to magically fall in love with me and sweep me off my feet. Which by the way, you couldn’t, not literally anyway.”
“I asked her to introduce us. Yes, I found you attractive and after hearing Addison talk about you non-stop in Oklahoma, I wanted to meet you. Addison is not only my assistant but a dear friend and if you’re important to her then you’re important to me as well.”
He closed the distance between them pressing her back against the fence and caging her in with his strong arms on either side of her. He leaned in towards her and she sucked in a breath, holding it in her chest.
“I wasn’t hoping to fall in love or sweep you off your feet. Which I could totally do.” He smirked, “I was hoping to meet the amazing woman Addison loves so much and who happens to be fucking gorgeous.”
“Glen, I…” She let out a trembling breath, “I'm nobody and I don’t do one night stands. Even if it’s with a sexy movie star that I’m sure would give me the orgasm of my life. It’s not me and I don’t see you wanting to settle down with a high school secretary.”
He leaned closer to her. His nose brushing alongside hers and his lips merely an inch from hers. She wanted to look away, but his eyes were mesmerizing.
“Won’t know unless you give me a chance.”
His lips pressed against hers. They were soft and tasted of tequila as he pulled her bottom lips between his teeth. Suddenly, her body felt like it was on fire and she wanted more. Needed more. His large hands fell to her hips and pulled her tighter against him. (Y/N) wrapped her arms around his neck, pushing her hands into his soft hair. His sunglasses falling from his head was enough to knock her senses back into place. She pressed her hands against his chest, pushing him gently away.
“We… I… this can’t happen. It’s not happening.” She stammered.
(Y/N) took off back towards the barn as Glen called after her, “(Y/N)! (Y/N), please wait!”
She didn’t stop until she was in the pool house and in Addison’s room with the door shut. Tears immediately sprung to her eyes and she sank to the floor beside her bed. What the hell was she doing? Glen Powell had kissed her. Told her she was gorgeous and yet she was sitting on the floor crying. Why couldn’t she be more impulsive and have one night with a man who was way out of her league? Looking at her reflection in the glass from the sliding door, she sighed.
“Because you catch feelings, (Y/N).” She whispered.
“(Y/N)?” Addison’s voice came through the door, “You alright?”
She opened the door, “Seriously, Glen Powell?”
“Let me explain.”
“Addison, what did you think was going to happen? You couldn’t actually believe this was going to work in any sort of way.”
They sat down on her bed, “I talk about you non-stop with him. I’ve told him all your stories from school with your kiddos. I’ve told him how I’m worried about you being alone all the time and how I wish you could meet a nice guy like him. How proud I am of all you’ve done for your health and how you love your body for what it is.”
(Y/N) placed her head in her hands, “And what, he was like ‘oh I want to meet this chick’?”
“Not his exact words, but yes. When he started planning this party, he asked if there was anyone I would like to invite. I told him Zac and his friends…” She paused looking at her bashfully, “Yeah, I’m kind of seeing Zac Levi.”
“No shit, Sherlock. I could tell that from the lovey-dovey looks you give one another. After my breakdown you can spill all about how that happened.”
Addison nodded, “Anyway, Glen asked if I wanted to invite you. I told him that you’re pretty introverted and didn’t like going to parties. He dropped it, but then when he was having me finalize the list of people I noticed he had added your name at the end of the list. When I asked him about it, all he said was he wanted to meet the amazing best friend I kept talking about.”
“So, you decided to turn it into a set up? Knowing full and well I would never fall for it.”
Her friend turned towards her, “It was never a set up. I warned him how you are. I asked him directly what he was up to. He told me that he found you attractive and wanted to get to know you.” She grabbed her hands, “Honestly (Y/N), I think he’s just a dude who is nervous to ask out a beautiful girl. It’s hard for him to meet anyone who doesn’t see him as only a famous actor and I really think he wants this part of his life to be as normal as possible.”
(Y/N) groaned, “You know this sounds like a fanfic I would read on Tumblr, right?”
Addison laughed, “Oh I’m well aware. However, doesn’t it make you want to see what happens? Usually, the next part would be you going to find him and you two would have a moment of tension that snaps. Then wham, bam, smutty dreams fulfilled.”
“I think I’m going to throw up.” (Y/N) took a couple deep breaths.
“That is not usually in the fanfics. Take the time you need, but please come back out and hang out with us. If anything, I’ll introduce you to Zac and you can fangirl over him.”
“I love you, but get out. I can’t even with you right now.” (Y/N) laughed as Addison hugged her.
Once she was alone again, (Y/N) went into the bathroom to splash cool water on her face. Looking into the mirror, she gave herself a once over. She walked out into the bedroom letting out a surprise yelp when she found Glen sitting on the bed.
“Scared the crap out of me.” She held her chest.
His eyes were focused on the floor, “Sorry. Addison said you were in here.” He stretched his long fingers out over his thighs before looking up at her.
“I wanted to apologize for coming onto you so strong and kissing you. I should have been more of a gentleman about it, not that I regret kissing you because I don’t.”
She sat down next to him, “I don’t either and you don’t need to apologize. It was nice to know I remembered how to kiss a man.”
He chuckled finally looking over at her, “It’s like I’m living out a meet-cute rom-com without a script and it’s terrifying. There’s a fine line between endearing and creepy. I feel like I’m crossing the line into creepy.”
(Y/N)’s hand was trembling but she placed it over his, “You’re not creepy. Addison told me about how you wanted to get to know me. I think it’s been so long since a man has shown any interest in me that I don’t know how to react to it. Let alone that man being someone I have fantasized about being the Leading Man in my own life.”
“Is there any way we could start over? You being you and me being just a normal dude wanting to ask you out?” He laced their fingers together, “Or at least ask you to watch fireworks with me?”
(Y/N) smiled, “I would love to watch fireworks with you… what was your name again?”
His breathtaking smile appeared as he stood up in front of her, “Hi, I’m Glen and you?”
She took his outstretched hand, standing up, “(Y/N), it’s nice to meet you totally normal dude who is definitely not a famous sexy actor.”
He laughed pulling her into his side slipping his arm around her shoulders, “That’s me. Normal dude who is thankful to have a chance to be in the presence of a beautiful woman.”
“Oh jeez, please stop with the compliments. They make me uncomfortable.” She sighed, sliding her arm around his waist.

Fallin' in Love

Thank you all for the being patient with the long wait and still staying with the story. This one has gotten really long, so thanks everyone for participating in that little vote - if you want more of those, let me know. Now happy reading, let me know what you think of this part or if you want to be tagged 🥰💜
[fluff, cursing; long chapter ~3.7k]
Previous Part | Masterlist | Next Part
"Either fuck me or fuck off! I'm done being a charity project!" You pulled off your light sweater, throwing it on the couch next to you. This was what he wanted according to Becky, so you’d give it to him and be done with it, your heart and body bared.
"I'm not going to sleep with you, especially if you're drunk out of your mind. And stop spouting that shit about bein' a charity case. I told you 're not!"
Unshed tears gathered in your eyes, knowing he was right but with your clouded mind, would have none of it. "Then fucking LEAVE!"
And he did leave, slamming the door on his way out. But not before he told you to get your shit sorted out.
Again you had let Becky, your former best friend get into your head. But this time she didn’t just use words. No, she made sure to cut you deep. Publicly.
You weren't sure if Glen remembered Becky from the accident but you knew if he had and knew her to be acting towards you like she had, he probably wouldn't have smiled the way he did in the photo she had taken.
But that wasn't the problem.
No, she embarrassed you, telling the world you were a charity project for others. That no matter how hard you tried, you’d never have people wanting you for yourself. Because you were a people pleaser and a wallflower.
To top it off Becky made sure to show you that you'd never stand a chance with Glen - not that you'd ever get to be more than friends with him.
You could never compare to anyone, model or actress, that was part of Hollywood so why would someone like him bother to be with you. He deserved a woman that made him look good, not - well, not Hollywood-esque.
Standing next to him in the photo they looked like the next Californian power couple with Becky's perfect hair and body. You couldn't compare when you were new to the friend group and you couldn't compare now. She always got the guys and if she didn't after two cocktails she made sure she did take them home with her. That's how it went.
You should have seen the signs in the beginning, but you ignored them. Wanted to be part of the popular group even though you weren't in college but the same age as them. Now a few years later and another ruined friendship by your anger, you knew you needed to change it, needed to start to believe the girls and the one man that hadn't judged you in any way since he met you that night.
"Honeybee!" The pounding on your door pulled you out of your thoughts, finally making you look at the mess you made in your workshop studio. "Open up, we know you're home."
Greg…When the girls couldn’t reach you he was the one blowing your phone up with calls and messages.
Anger fueled rage had swept through you three nights before after Glen had slammed the door behind him. Your confidence already at a low point after what Becky did, you felt like whatever projects you worked on would never measure up to the expectations you had put on yourself. Because in that moment you felt like a failure. You weren't even able to get the one guy, that had shown interest in you, into bed but all you did was make him angry and tell him to leave.
"Hun, you've been MIA for three days now. We gave you time but we really got to talk." Gigi called from the other side, admonishing Greg for being so rude.
You waited, still sitting on your studio floor and watching the carnage you had caused. Metal and little gems littering the floor, designs partly ripped or crumbled. The girls knew where you had hid your spare key so they'd come in anyway, but you knew they didn't want to just barge in.
After some more debating and whining from Greg, you heard the familiar scratching of a key in the lock. "Hun, we'll come in, okay?"
You turned toward the small hallway, your home studio just to the left of your front door. Sniffling, you looked up at the model and the Lousianian actor. "He hates me." You sobbed, pulling your knees closer to your body.
Three days there had been radio silence - not just on your end. Both of you needed time but whenever you wanted to tell Glen how sorry you were your inner voice told you that he'd probably needed some more time to get his head in straight for his upcoming project, a new movie in Australia. Too far away to mend it with just an 'I'm sorry' text.
"Oh, babygirl." Greg shushed you, crouching down beside you and pulling you into his embrace. "He ain't hating you, Glen's just as upset as you."
“But he hasn’t called…or, or texted. We never went a day without a call or text.”
Gigi kneeled next to you, brushing away the stray tears. “Glen’s leaving for Sydney today. He’s been packing up the last few days.”
“He’s leaving…That’s today?!” You knew he was leaving, but with the fight you had completely forgotten time and dates. “I need to, need to tell him.”
Scrambling to your feet, you ran to the table in your hallway. Gathering your keys and shoes you made it to the front door before Greg and Gigi knew what had gotten into you.
“Honeybee! You need to stop.”
Shaking your head, you made your way to the sidewalk. Thankfully the next bus stop was only a few feet away, so if you were lucky you could catch the next bus into central LA and hopefully get to LAX on time.
Shaking their heads, both friends followed after you. “You’re not going to get there on time, you know that.” Gigi called, motioning to Greg to get his car around. “We’ll take you there and I’ll let Glen know you need to talk to him, but you need to calm down and get in the car!”
Taking a deep breath, you stopped. She was right - of course she was. It would take you hours to get to the airport and you’d not see the Texan for a while so you could apologize in person. Slowly nodding your head, you watched as Greg pulled up the car and both Gigi and you got in. You buckled up, holding on as the Lousianian actor sped off towards the man you had slowly fallen in love with.
Nearly an hour later due to traffic you finally arrived at LAX, jumping out of the car before it even stopped. Greg cried when he forcefully hit the breaks, Gigi glaring at him from her seat next to the actor. He just shrugged and shut it off before both followed you inside the building.
“I texted Glen, he’s still at the gate, but boarding will start soon.” she told him and kept their eyes out for you.
“Well, let’s get her there, so they can finally kiss and make up.”
Nodding, they spotted you heading for the airport security check. You had a head start and somehow it seemed people were just moving away to let you through. Stopping at the end of the queue, you tapped your foot impatiently. You had seen the Qantas flight to Sydney was ready to board and if they didn’t get a move on you’d never make it in time.
Taking a deep breath, you considered your options:
You could either wait and risk you'd not be able to apologize to Glen in person - because, yes he'd probably pay for a ticket to visit him, but he and those you considered close friends now had done so much already, and you yourself couldn't afford it. And an apology over text or call was just - Nope, not happening.
Or you could run up to the front, beg and cry so security would let you through and you could try your luck at getting to him before the take off.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you squared your shoulders and put one foot in front of the other making your way to the female guard checking the bag of another woman.
Clearing your throat once you had reached them you earned a few outraged calls from passengers you had cut off. "I, sorry to bother you, but this is really important, I need to get through to the gates."
"Everyone needs to get there, darling." One passenger called from behind you while both women raised their eyebrows at you, shaking their heads.
Gigi and Greg had closed the distance to you, standing at the end of the queue and waiting for the chaos to unfold. There was nothing they could do but look out for you and hopefully not have you arrested.
"Listen, this is a matter of life and death, okay."
"As long as you're not on fire or bleeding from the inside out or whatever you need to wait like everyone else, I'm sorry."
Hands clenching into fists, you took a deep breath. This wasn't at all going like you had planned in your head. Chancing a glance at your friends, you considered just taking off but police and airport security would be on you the second you stepped around the woman.
"But I am!" You cried, unshed tears gathering in your eyes as they gave you a disbelieving look. "My heart is bleeding for the man about to fly off to Sydney, because I can't apologize for being a bitch to him and for not telling him that I've fallen in love because I let the words from someone who I thought was my friend. So please, just let me get to the gate. I promise I'll pay for any inconvenience, just let me get to him and fucking tell him I love him."
Greg and Gigi whooped from the back, grinning like kids in a toy store. You finally admitted it and they knew it was going to be fine in the end.
"Come on, let her get her Prince Charming, so we can get to our own flights!" Someone called and an elderly couple in the front nodded eagerly. The female guard watched you closely, keeping her hand on her walkie talkie, debating what to do. She knew if she let you go her boss was going to have her head, but seeing you standing there, tears about to fall and causing you more heartbreak. "I…you need to promise…this is not a romance movie, you come back here as soon as you told him. Seeing as you don't have a bag or anything with you, I'll let you go."
A broad grin spread over your lips. "Thank you, thank you so much." You mumbled, throwing your arms around her before hurrying off, your friends throwing up their arms in triumph, laughing and calling after you.
"Go get 'I'm, Honeybee!"
You chuckled, chancing a glance at the flight board so you still had the right gate. It wasn't too far from security check but the amount of time you stayed in the queue they might as well already have taken off. Willing your legs to move faster, you ran to the boarding zone, barely avoiding other passengers still lounging in the take off area.
You could see the empty seats at the gate before you got there, the flight attendant still calling for one missing passenger. Feeling your heart plummet, you grabbed your phone from your Jean pocket, fumbling to reach Glen’s number so you could call him. Maybe he still got the time to talk.
Maybe, he was the one still missing boarding - you hoped he would be.
Finally getting the contact, you pressed call, swallowing the lump of anxiety that had made it hard for you to breath. "Glen?" You desperately called when you heard a click on the other line, hoping to hear his deep voice that usually sent butterflies cursing through you but you only reached voice mail.
"H-Hey, I, it's me," you sniffled, brushing a stray tear of your cheek. "I'm, uh, I'm at the airport, at your gate b-because I wanted to apologize for being a bitch. A-and you're not here and I guess it's my own fault, because you deserve better but I guess, I just wanted to tell you that you were right all along. I was letting her get in my head and you've been there for me because you're my friend. And, and I w-wanted to tell you that I love you. I guess I had for a while but I didn't think you'd feel the same so I kept quiet about it. I hope you'll have an amazing time in Australia and hopefully you'll still want to talk to me once you get back."
Taking a deep breath, you felt the tears no freely running down your face, snot clogging your nose and you felt anything but pretty. "I love you, Glen and I'm sorry." You let out a sob, your head hanging in defeat that you didn't even get to see him before he'd be gone for the next few months filming in Australia.
"Young man?" An elderly woman called to him as he put away his carry-on, reminding him a lot of his late granny. "Your phone's been ringing a few times now."
Looking down he saw the missed calls he'd gotten. Two from Greg and Gigi, three from you followed by a voicemail. "Thanks." He mumbled, sitting down in his booth next to hers.
Taking a deep breath he opened the voicemail, listening to your labored breath and quiet sniffles. "I love you, Glen and I'm sorry."
"Shit." The Texan mumbled, running his hand over his face, breathing deeply in and out. The flight was delayed as they were still waiting for one more passenger but he still hadn't shown up. If he was fast enough he could get out and get to you - if you were still there, your last call had only been two minutes ago. Shaking his head, he sprung up from his seat and moved to the front of the plane. First class wasn't too full, so he was lucky to not have to weave through too many people.
"Sir, you should take your seat again, we're nearly ready for take off."
"You're still waiting for one passenger who still hasn't shown up, if he doesn't you'll have to get his luggage off the plane again due to security reasons. The woman I love just somehow gotten to the gate only to find it empty. If I'm not getting off this plane right now to tell her I love her I won't get another chance to do it."
She bit her lip, turning to her fellow attendee with a questioning look. He just shrugged and Glen had to pull out all the stops he could, resorting to acting his way off the plane. "Listen, I know you got your timeline and all that, but it's the first time in a while that I truly felt a connection to her. She was in an accident and had the weirdest dream where she thought I was her boyfriend. She's an absolute movie nerd and god, just listening to her rant about something with so much passion, there's no way you can't fall in love with her. I think she's the one, but she won't be if I can't get back there and tell her."
"Goodness, deary, just let him get off or he'll look like a kicked puppy all the way to Sydney." The old woman called from behind him, a scowl on her face but when both attendants turned away to check with the pilot she gave him a wink and a smile. Glen sighed and mouthed a quick thank you before the female reluctantly nodded.
"But, we'll be waiting at the entrance of the landing or else we'll have to wait for you, too."
Glen’s thousand watt grin on display he raced out of the plane, the door thankfully still opened. His heart was hammering and he really hoped you were still at the gate. He wouldn't know what he'd do if you weren't, avoiding you for the past few days and trying to get his head in order.
You had been hurt so many times by your supposed friend and when he had to get you from the bar Monica, Keleigh and Rainey had taken you he was shocked how much your behavior had changed in those few minutes you were sitting in his car.
The gangway back to the gate had felt like an eternity, but he finally made it, breaths coming out in long puffs and he seriously questioned his training regime if he was already feeling like he ran a marathon today. Looking around, Glen finally spotted you heading away from the gate, head hung low and shoulders hunched in defeat.
"Darlin'!"
Defeated, you had made your way back to the security check, the female guard and both Gigi and Greg already standing at attention. Shrugging your shoulders with a shake of your head you felt the sadness overcome you again. You had tried to call him again, that maybe he was just occupied but apparently he still didn’t want to talk to you. All three of them sent you a sad smile, knowing that you’d need your friends now and the security stepping away. Everyone had experienced heartache at least once in their life and they knew that nothing but a good long hug and some chocolate and ice cream were the cure for that.
“Darlin’!” A call pulled you out of your gloom, but you weren't sure if they called you - it could have been anyone. Still, stopping in the middle of the terminal you waited with bated breath if it had just been your imagination or you’d mistaken that call.
“Darlin’!”
You turned around, your eyes widening at the sight of the dark blond you had tried to reach heading straight for you. A mixture between a sob and a laugh left your lips, your legs moving towards him. At first wobbly and slow but then getting stronger and quicker as you wanted to meet halfway “Glen!”
The entire time you had run up to him, your mind was spinning with how you’d act standing so close to him, but all had come to a stop when you threw your arms around his shoulders, holding onto the taller Texan. “I’m sorry, I was being unreasonable and I thought you hated me.” You mumbled into his shoulder, feeling tears mist your eyes again as his arms tightened their hold around you.
“No need to apologize,” Glen shushed you, leaning his forehead against yours, his eyes closed just as your own and only wanting to feel the moment you had together. “It was a tough day for you.”
Your hands moved to his cheeks, cradling his face in your soft hands, thumbs brushing along his stubbled cheek. “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll call you anytime I can, you’ll not even be able to miss me ‘cause I’ll be that annoying.”
Chuckling at his joke, you opened your red rimmed eyes, your own smile making your eyes crinkle. “You won’t be. And even if you were, I'd miss you all the same.”
“I’ll miss you, too, darlin’. And all the info about motorsports, nature and the way you bend metal you provided each day since I’ve gotten to know you.”
“You’ll have too much to do to really miss me.”
Shaking his head he bent down to seal his lips with yours. And suddenly you felt a spark, like something inside finally came alive that had been sleeping for a very long time. Usually all this was only part of the romance books you had stashed on your bedside table but now you were the main character and Glen your Prince Charming. A soft moan escaped your mouth, your feet moving onto your tiptoes to get even closer to him. One of his larger hand cradled your head, his fingers tightening in your hair, while the other splayed over your back, pushing you into his body. Greg and Gigi whooped when they saw the scene before them.
“Finally, I would have put her on a plane to Australia myself.” Greg grinned, putting his arm around the model’s shoulder, watching both of his friends kissing at the airport like they were truly part of a romcom movie.
All sense of the outside world was lost to you, there was only Glen and you - Nothing else mattered. His scent surrounded you and it felt like coming home.
“I love you.”
His lips had left yours, his broad grin spreading over his face, the dimples prominent. It was your second time that day saying those words to him and every time your heart felt lighter and lighter. Glen’s thumbs brushed over your cheeks, the skin tinted red from your blush. “You have no idea how often I wanted you to say that and to tell you myself.”
With a sigh, you leaned your head between his shoulder and neck, breathing in his scent to save it to the back of your mind before he was gone for the next few months. The clearing of a throat pulled you out of your trance.
“As wonderful as it is, but you’ll miss your plane, Mister Powell.”
He turned to look at the flight attendant, breathing out a sigh but nodded. There was no way Glen was going to convince them otherwise. “I’ll have to leave now, the plane won’t wait for me but I’ll call you as soon as I land.”
Nodding your head, you pulled him into one last hug before he had to leave. “I’ll talk to you later. I love you, Glen.”
“I love you, too.” He returned, brushing your hair out of your face, sealing his lips with yours one last time. Breaking the kiss, Glen sent you a smile before he followed the attendant, raising his hand in a wave. “I’ll call you!” He called and was gone, leaving you behind at the terminal, but there were no tears to cry only a smile filled with happiness.

Relatable. (Now give me a Glen Powell interview that is basically like that Chris Evans cover story from ten years ago where they got wasted and the interviewer went on a meet-cute pub crawl with him on GQ's dime while fantasizing about him taking her to the Oscars.)
