Watching Severance does feel a bit like reading a fic with 15000 word chapters that are almost entirely world-building and setup and there are only 2/47 chapters published and those came out 3 years apart
#the same sense of teetering uncertainty. like there is something in someone's mind but will it get out? probably not#the thing that gives me hope is there's a pretty strong track record of simplifying and circling back to plot points#instead of casting the net of things that happen ever wider (looking at you orphan black)#many of the very weird nonsensical elements are meant to just be weird and nonsensical. like yes there's a severed marching band#no we don't need to explore that any further it just is what it is#ms cobel seemed like a weird outlier to the plot but they tied her in exactly to the heart of it#(by the way i know none of you know about this but one thing i immediately realized that i don't think other tumblrites saw#is that her mrs selvig behavior in s1 was not a trick either in her different demeanor or her apparent care for mark#he is not just her science experiment. his outie—and her mrs selvig ''outie''—are her creations free from the company#she truly wanted to be able to perpetuate the kier lumon cult of abuse and control but also set people free of it#it's why she created severance and why she is nasty only to innie mark. he deserves that treatment like she thinks she did growing up#but she made a way for only part of him to deserve that while the rest of him doesn't. she genuinely respects his outie#and wants him to thrive and have a full life outside lumon. separate from his innie. that's her WHOLE DEAL)#anyway where was i#oh yeah so she's hooked right into the heart of the simple central idea and everything she does makes sense in that lens#the birthing cabin bit came back to facilitate a key plot movement and that mystery got solved and laid to rest very simply#(laid to rest as in we know the explanation AND it doesn't give our main characters a further task to accomplish#which i'm just realizing is a huge distinction in storytelling)#it's the whole chikhai bardo thing of the big secret at the heart of Severance is just. severance.#and even in the s2 finale the agenda was very simple and stayed the same throughout and the climactic tension was still just severance#like oh she's in the basement? we'll just get her out#the drama came from all the established pieces colliding on the outcome of that#rather than from that goal getting thwarted#idk man it's Good Storytelling enough to make me willing to trust it#severance#severance spoilers

genuinely forgive me for spiralling abt this thing i just made up but the concept of rolling on the relationship track potentially giving people a stress token is making me want to see riz snap all the more. i think it would be so appropriate to the whole like "the moment he slows down he will break" thing for him to finish these huge challenges and successfully pass all of his classes for the year with flying colours and have a chance to take a breath and use that to try and, for the first time in months, reach out to his mother.
and then it just all comes crashing down and he takes a rage token and fights with sklonda and logically he knows that this rage isn't helping but he's so angry at this system that forces him to work himself to death and sklonda is just. there in the moment; a face for him to yell at. and even if it's not fair he can't control his anger. in the moment he suddenly feels much closer to kipperlilly than he ever has. who sees what she considers an unfair system, and is pissed at the people who enforce it and benefit from it.
idk obviously there are larger plans for the rage tokens as a whole (tying into ankarna, probably pushing them closer to like, being this corrupted being) but it would make so much sense for riz, after everything else has fizzled down, to just crash into a wall and break.

I’ll emphasize.#in terms of the societal parts of Amore the kingdom kinda flourishes in the arts of all sorts and trade within the kingdom it goes crazay…#they were pretty closed off from the rest of the galaxy though. like their tech and stuff is pretty outdated compared to most of the other-#planets with atleast escape ships and all that fun stuff.#foreshadowing#ANYHOW lovebugs are silly guys I think of them as like weird hedonistic freaks of sorts#they have very big dionysus worshipping energy to them just to give a perspective#and of course they prioritized relationships and the different forms of love#romance actually wasn’t even the big thing that built the kingdom#it was more like a love for community and friends#which is also kinda silly because of the monarchy aspect to Amore and all that#OH ALSO these guys go absolutely crazy with fashion and makeup. gender isn’t a major thing in the kingdom in my eyes#you WILL serve cunt!! /silly#WORLDBUILDING ASIDEEE Val was the prince to the kingdom and was set to be the heir to the throne#the designs are like three different route ideas ive had for Val#the first is just a baseline design so like. pre amore‘s destruction from dominator#the second is like a good ending design of sorts to my ideal lineup for a season three for woy with val continuing to embrace the lovebugs-#history and culture even with Amore gone and a good portion of her people#and the third. is a bit hard to describe because it’s more of an au but it’s just a concept idea I had of Val teaming up with Dom#(it would be short lived like probably a few months max so dw)#and silly note i joked about the idea of val being an ex to peepers BUT I WANNA DEVELOP THAT MORE BEFORE I SHARE.#tap into that this may be cringe but i am free mindset or something slash silly TEEHEE#BUT YEAH Val’s just a silly gal in my heart and soul no matter what. ive missed her a lot i wanna work on fics with him and especially to-#develop more stuff for Amore and the Lovebugs before Dominator’s destruction of the planet#BUT YEAH i wanna Val post more. go into depth for their dynamic with the other characters and all that#I may cook some more stuff with him once I get these stargazing fics all set and whatnot SO WE’LL SEE!#also /nf but if anyone would wanna ask questions about val/amore/lovebugs ask away I’d love to answer any questions! 🥺

speaking of Cupid I also don’t like how they did the black gradients, it looks weird that only her legs have them and the pattern looks weird too, I think its cause its too thin
Yeah the gradient could be a lot better...it isn't as gradual and soft as her G1 version and it looks really out of place since it isn't on her arms as well. Its actually a little jarring since she has so little black in her outfit.
And the pattern on her legs is a little strange. Pretty on its own, but its so delicate and intricate it also just looks a bit out of place. Hopefully it doesn't rub off easily.

Let's remember I am DAILY WHISTLEBREEZE#I have been drawing a random nobody for nearly four years now and you can still barely give anything Specific about Whis from the books#yeah FrostWhistle. Whis is kind and helpful and they saved each other and it's cool#yeah Ivypool's heart is a thing#but does it really characterise Whis in any interesting way whatsoever?#in my opinion not really no#I've searched fro every instance of Whis appearing on screen and it's mostly Whis being thrown around by the plot or the other cats#or by a fucking rabbit#a few cool things you can say is how Determined Whis was to save Leafkit. that's something#and you could also say that Whis prioritising helping Frost above obeying The Code is something too#but you have to Extrapolate all of this#the books don't give you any insight on what's going on in Whis' mind#and they won't#and that's what they do to most cats in their books#and we all know it and we all just see canon happen and then take the bits that interest us and make it Better#and yeah Spotfur is one of those cats that would really enjoy that treatment#Spotfur has drama on both a political level and interpersonal one (Bris Stem her kits and even her siblings just fucking off n stuff)#and they made her such a weak character by giving us Spotfur's rebellion

It’s funny how Theo is the ideal guy for Nikki on paper, and how it should work, but in the end, her heart still wanted Nate.
#t90s#niknate#like how it was PLANNED for her to be doctor or lawyer or whatever but her heart wanted music#it’s always things that aren’t in nikki’s plan that fit her best#and not to make this about gwikki but the fact that they ‘don’t have anything in common’ but they work so well together#same thing#that destined soulmate stuff fits Leia’s arc but not Nikki’s#Nikki’s whole life has been planned for her#but she doesn’t have that control of her life#whereas it’s the opposite with leia: the world is her oyster and ED give her space to grow#it’s just funny how different yet similar leia and Nikki are#both are super smart both are good at school#but leia is more socially awkward while Nikki is a bit more confident#they may not have the ‘exact’ same kind of dorky#but they both have it#despite seeming more experienced in reality Nikki is almost just as inexperienced as leia in many ways

Sometimes I sit down to think about the true ramifications of how / what the Fizz Bots are to Fizzarolli,
Imagine robotic clones ( sexual, at that ) being made of you and they are not only modeled after you in physical appearance, but have a likeness to your personality, mannerisms and general demeanor. Imagine they say the things you would, possibly act in the same way you would.
What's worse, is that they're made in your likeness in real time; their production / manufacturing ages along with you,
Imagine you SEE these things being assaulted, used & abused in public; these clones take it all with a smile. Soulless, mindless... But as if that's not enough, then realizing that they may just have sentience. Or at least, they give off the impression they do. And on top of ALL that... they have chunks of your memories, your past; they're you, but at the same time, they aren't,
What do you do with that information? How do you treat them ( yourself? )? What's the end game?

#medical in tags#so it's been. a day.#avoided an ER trip <3#bp was 117/91 resting. so a bit high on the diastolic (120/80 is the standard). also narrow pulse pressure.#(not enough space in between the numbers)#which on its own? whatever. usual POTS weirdness. I'm always a bit narrow (but usually much lower).#but ALSO my heart rate was resting at about 90 and I was shaky and having nosebleeds#which. kind of elevates the situation a bit. lol.#I got better after a beta blocker and intense hydrating but I had to call my mom once the nosebleed hit.#I get them randomly all the time but in conjunction with the other symptoms it was worrying.#and I got better- or at least my symptoms subsided after a beta blocker- but it's Not Good when your EMT mother is worried!#she has seen All The Things. she knows when something's an emergency and when it's just otc meds worthy.#so to hear her giving me clear orders of what to do in her EMT voice over the phone was... not good :)#anyways. doing better now but still kind of spooked.#i've been watching too much house md. i need to stop for a bit lol it makes my own medical anxiety so much worse#BUT IT'S INTERESTINGGGGGGG. on s3. i need tritter dead.
