I saw it in your tag game post that you're also fond of the Apollo-Heracles conflict 👀 for a myth that appears in only a couple of sources, it sure has a lot of presence in the vase paintings (no seriously, everytime I think I've seen the last of it, I find ten more)

SO do you have any favorites among the paintings that represent this story??

I also think it's extremely interesting that it's a story so popularly portrayed by vase paintings and in such a variety of ways!! It's certainly one of the stories that gets left out of written compilation of Heracles' legend a bit (which is a shame, I think it's a fantastic story) but Apollo had a very peculiar relationship with Heracles in general that I just kind of find amazing (and very, very funny).

Apollo is not a god with any legitimate grudge against Heracles, but he does argue with the mortal a bit like he argues with his favourite brothers 😂Part of why I love the story of Apollo and Heracles fighting over the tripod so much is that it is such a little brother thing for Heracles to be upset with the proclamation his elder brother has given him and so, he throws a great fit, taking up the chair and declaring that he'll just give himself a better prophecy! And Apollo, instead of being a marginally professional big brother, decides to fight him for it until their father has to break up their cat-fight. Like was that not just the plot of the Homeric Hymn to Hermes? Is this not exactly how Apollo treated Hermes when he was a child and now those two are inseparable? 💀

Because of this, my favourite vase paintings tend to be the ones that highlight the personal squabbling between Apollo and Heracles the most. There are some very elaborate ones that have the full host of them - Athena, Heracles, Apollo, Artemis, usually a dog and a doe, I've even seen a couple that had birds and plants etched on them, but the simplest ones that show Heracles about to bonk Apollo with his club out of frustration or depict Heracles nyooming away from Apollo while Apollo (presumably) yells curses about how he's going to fling Heracles head first into Tartarus for daring to take his things? Yeah, those are the premium big brother/little brother things I'm looking for.

Okay, but why did they write Sheila like that? Like she gets next to no screen time, despite viewing the girls as family, and then suddenly doesn't want Darryl covering for them anymore (which don't get me wrong, she's valid for it but it's a 180 reversal of the like one personality we had going for her) and like. The sisters needed friends, and Sandra Prosper is on the show for nine episodes but they just. stick her in the background, give her a line or two, and that's it. And I mean, Darryl is a main character for seven seasons, and she's his wife. Even though he wasn't one of the main main characters, you'd think they'd do literally anything with her like c'mon.

what does it say about the morals i possess that i genuinely dont think yonny is that insane.. like in the game he proves to be committed to his work, friendly with his coworkers, logical, book smart and a hard worker? shepherd mentions the maniacal laughter (imagining such a sound in yonnys voice is wuite hilarious) and there's the whole "experimenting on other people", but he otherwise seems pretty down to earth.

he targets dingo in particular because theyre good friends and at this poinr dingo is probably down to drink a funny drink and glow for a couple days (for some reason there's like. three instances of yonny making a potion that just causes the consumer to glow?).

other experiments include "experimental creature-breeding program"(?) and "give someone a dose of glow sap and see if they can breath in toxic atmospheres".. which sound practical or at least explicable enough..

yonny just wants to improve people's health and occasionally dick around with his friends... that being said i do think he's more prone to having and promptly acting upon absolutely batshit theories/'what ifs'/etc. but there's more to him than that that's not the ppoint.

100% because i just finished watching todays dunmeshi but am thinking about Arsay and Yshtola camping out in the dravanian forelands on the way to idyllshire and arsay not being able to take her eyes off yshtola because shes so releaved to have at least one of her friends back from the bloody banquet after what happened in the vault. Y'shtola telling her to quit with her staring but Arsay just grins and tells shtola that it just makes her so happy to be able to look at y'shtola again. Y'shtola is taken a back by such a comment and dismisses it outright, turning her face away from Arsay's gaze. Did the campfire get hotter all the sudden or was it just her???
