My personal favorite Voltage title is Metro PD. And I want so much more stories for it, though I doubt itâll happen since everyone got a wedding story.
But thereâs action! Thereâs comedy! The cast is my favorite one out of them all. Plus, I love mysteries and crime-related stories - I watch Law and Order, so a crime-related otome, Iâm there for waving my money to give to voltage.
So, Metro PD. Best Voltage Title IMHO.

Project Diva X's way of getting outfits via rhythm game gacha makes me wanna run it over with a truck
#prince's talk tag#disclaimer: i do not drive#i love this game except for the way you get modules like fr#i have to play two thirds of a song to get to chance timeâ CLEAR chance time AND hit the star note and then HOPE the module i want appears#if i use a module that increases the chance of getting a new or rare one itd be a bit easier but i dont have one for Quirky!Meiko#ah in case you didnt know x is divided into clouds kinda like how prsk has different sekais#theres classic cute cool elegant and quirky. and the cryptonloids take on different personalities depending on the cloud#to clear a song you have to get enough voltage points and a good way to do thats is to wear modules and accessories that match the cloud#so for example the song Urotander Underhanded Rangers is a quirky cloud song#and base voltage is 100%. but if you use a quirky module and quirky accessories you can boost it so you get a headstart#on charging the voltage to clear the song#now each module has a special ability whether its helping with voltage or getting you more points or obtaining modules#this is where it gets tricky bc you need to use the appropriate modules to get the most voltage out of your gameplay#but if you want something specific like a new module but dont have a module that would make that easy for that cloud#then youll be playing the same song over and over until the gacha gods pity you and give you what you want#i want the underhand red modules for Meiko (both masked and unmasked versions)#but i dont have quirky meiko modules that increase the chance of getting a new or rare modules#and using a module that isnt quirky decreases my starting voltage by 20% and i need that voltage#bc fun twist if you dont clear the voltage by the end of the song you dont get a new module if you unlock it during chance time#theres a meiko festival thats hard af to play in this game where you have to play 3 hard ass songs to get the voltage high enough#but the outfit has a 1 in 4 chance of showing up#so you could be doing so good and then during chance time (which happens during the third song) the module wont show up#so you gotta do it all over again#OR the opposite where you dont get enough voltage but the module you need DOES show up but you dont get the module#bc your voltage wasnt high enough#i love this gameeeeeeeeeee

Post-Injury Hurt/Comfort Series - Law, Shanks, Mihawk, Rosinante, Blackbeard
Characters: Law, Shanks, Mihawk, Rosinante, Blackbeard
Reader: GN (afab in Rosi's)
Word Count: 5.7k
CW: blood, gore, graphic depictions of injury, stitches, sepsis
Summary: Continuing the series. Blackbeard's is more of a small bonus drabble that came to me, so his doesn't meet the 1k minimum I was shooting for in these. (And Rosi's went way over...)
Ao3 Link
Law
Your opponent is quicker than you're used to. As a cat mink, his reflexes are far better than yours. However, he fights unarmed while you use twin short swords, so you're able to keep some distance between you and even the playing field.
You tilt your head left to avoid his swipe, claws barely missing your face. Acting quickly, you return with a jab that pierces his armor and stabs into his shoulder. He hisses in pain and you grinâthat's one arm he can't use anymore.
Your moment of confidence makes you slip up. Focused on the movement of his remaining arm, you're taken by surprise when he suddenly kicks one of your swords right out of your hand. He hasnât used kicks at all until now, likely to catch you off-guard like this. Before you can recover, he follows up by thrusting his claws into your chest, digging in and unleashing electricity into your body.
Law looks over just in time to see you drop like a stone. âY/n-ya!â he shoutsâbut you're unresponsive. He turns to Bepo, fighting by his side. âBepo! Count to two, then kick as hard as you can where I am!â
Bepo, wisened to Lawâs tactics, nods. âAye-aye!â
Law flexes his fingers. âRoom!â
The sphere of his power expands wide to cover the battlefield. He swaps places with the cat mink, hearing it yowl a moment later as Bepoâs foot connects with its gut. Grabbing your arm, he creates one more room from where he is and teleports you both to its perimeter, a safe distance from the fight. Aside from some bloody claw marks, he can't see major injuries.
âScan!â Law calls, voice tinged with panic as his ability checks your vitals. To his horror, the scan of your body shows your heart has stopped entirely, and his own seems to follow suit. He quickly removes your heart from your body, holding it in his hand. Focusing, he runs his own electric current through your heart in a swift, measured jolt.
The muscle twitches once and remains still.
âNo, no, come on.â Law tries again. Zap. No response. âDonât you do this.â He tries again. Zap. And again, no response. âCome back.â Zap. Your heart is still.
This time, he uses both hands and runs a higher voltage, shouting, âCome back right now!â Your heart jumpsâthen, finally, starts to beat. The relief is almost nauseating.
Clutching your heart to his chest with one hand, Law tilts your jaw open with his other hand and seals his mouth over yours, delivering rescue breaths until he feels you start to breathe on your own.
Slowly, your eyes open, your breaths shallow but even. He's hovering right over your head, looking into your eyes. âLaw?â
âJust stay still.â He runs another scan, making sure everything's running normally.
You try to get up, fighting the sluggishness of your body. âThe fightââ
âItâs still going. Lie down.â Law pushes your shoulder, forcing you to recline.
âThen you need to go help them.â
âThe rest of the crew has it handled. I'm not leaving you.â
Youâre not sure what happenedâeverything went black while you were fightingâbut whatever it was, it must have been bad if Lawâs saying that. Still, youâre eager to rejoin the battle. âAm I going to die?â you ask stubbornly as you try to sit up again.
âDon't be ridiculous. I'd never let that happen. Lie down, Y/n-ya.â
Law doesn't let you fight. He doesnât even let you get up, not until he's checked everythingâblood pressure, oxygen level, potential blood clots, your ability to follow commandsâand even then, he doesn't give you your heart back, stating he needs to keep an eye on it for a while âjust in case.â The battle ends in victory, and you walk back to the crew with a square hole in your chest.
You don't know much about electric shock effects, but you suppose it's okay to make sure your heart hasn't been thrown out of rhythm. It is weird to go about your day with the hole in your body. And itâs weird to feel Lawâs fingers around your heart. Itâs difficult to describeâa sort of warm, sensitive, almost ticklish physical contact that you feel within your chest, despite it being outside your body. Every time Law picks up your heart, youâre aware. You donât know where he keeps it, but it must be somewhere on his person; you feel it at random throughout the day or as youâre laying in bed at night. You can infer he stays up late, as you often fall asleep to the sensation of him holding it in his hand.Â
Throughout all those days, youâve never felt more secure, never slept more soundly than when you do knowing heâs keeping your very heart safe by his side.
Every day Law does another exam, taking the time to run a scan on your body. It seems a bit excessive to you, but youâre not about to tell him that. Youâre just grateful for the attention, truth be told. You and Law have been close for a while now, even exchanging some fond words in the rare moments youâre alone, but neither of you have the courage to risk damaging your friendship. But having him literally hold onto your heart makes you feel linked to him in a way you never have before, and itâs driving you insane.
âAll clear?â you ask as Law finishes another scan.
âYes, you look good,â he says, making your cheeks warm at the phrasing, âthough, occasionally your heart rate picks up when youâre at a resting state. I havenât figured out why yet, but I will.â He holds up your heart in front of his face, scratching his beard with his other hand as he thinks. âLike now.â
That answer is fairly obvious to you, and entirely his fault. Watching him inspect your heart so closely makes you oddly nervous. And he puts his hands on you during these exams, too, feeling lymph nodes on your neck and instructing you to breathe in and out while he listens to your lungs. What are you supposed to do? You canât help it. Itâs involuntary.
âHow are you feeling?â he asks.
Well, there was a hole where your heart should be that only he could fill. But you donât say that. You just mumble, âI feel fine.â
âYou always say that.â
âItâs always true.â Aside from some fatigue in the beginning, youâve otherwise been back to normal. âWhat do you think? Can I have it back?â
He thinks for a second. âAlright, one more day, then, just to be safe. Do you mind?â
âNo, I donât,â you say. âItâs weirdly comforting, to be honest.â
âHow?â Law looks at you incredulously. âI could crush your heart in my hand right now.â
Of course that would be his perspective. The risk of trusting someone so intimately isnât lost on him. But after all these years, you would easily trust Law with your life, so you simply shrug. âYou wouldnât break my heart, would you?â
He stiffens. Surely you didnât mean for it to come out that way, but the way you say itâso earnestly, so innocently, looking at him with those big doe eyes of yoursâhe canât help but feel a pang of longing. He desperately wants to protect you, to make right where he failed in the past. Law wants to reassure you, to bring you comfort that he hasnât figured out how to give.
Instead, he says, âNo.â
âPromise?â you ask softly.
âI promise, Y/n-ya.â Your heart beats faster in his hand. Law looks down at it, then at you, and thereâs a flash of understanding in his eyes.
âOkay,â you say. If heâs finally figured it out, maybeâŚmaybe this is your chance. âProve it.â
âHow?â He looks a bit shocked, and the way his eyes keep flitting between your heart and your face tells you that he knows exactly how.Â
Youâre slow in your approach, and even slower when you put your arms around his neck, giving him plenty of time to back away. Heâs uncertain, frozen in place, but if he wants you to stop, he isnât saying so.
You lean in. Law closes his eyes. Your heart beats like crazy in his hand.
You kiss him. Just a brief, soft touch of your lips.
âLaw,â you breathe. âWas that okay?â
Law responds by cupping your cheek and pulling you in for another.
Afterwards, he jokes that he doesnât want to give your heart back. But thatâs alright. Truth be told, heâd stolen it a long time ago.
Shanks
You return to consciousness through a cloud of black spots in your eyes, flashing in and out of your vision like raindrops on glass. It's immediately accompanied by the piercing whine of your ears ringing. You canât hear anything else, nor can you tell where you are. A battleâŚyou were pretty sure there was a battle.Â
The spots recede to the edges of your vision, and you can see a cloudy sky, filling with gray smoke. Youâre on your back. Faintly, you can hear shouts, filtering in through the shrill whine. A few seconds later, your brain starts putting names to the voices. Yasopp, Benn, Shanks.
Your captainâs face fills your vision a moment later. Instantly, you know something is very, very wrong, because youâve never seen Shanks look panicked before. Itâs just not an emotion in his repertoire. Always cool, always collected, always joyful, until now. Heâs shouting somethingâyour name.
ââyou hear me? Just hang on. Hongoâs on his way. Fuck, fuck!â
â...ShanksâŚâ you rasp, dimly becoming aware of your body. âWhat happenedâŚ?â
âItâs my fault, I didnât stop them in time, Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry!â
Itâs distant, but pain starts trickling through your body. Dull, throbbing pain, everywhere. Well, almost everywhere.
âItâs okay,â you say, trying to raise your head to assess yourself.
âDonât!â Shanks stops you with a hand on your forehead. âDonât move.â
Gradually, you start remembering the battle. The chaos, the noise. Now, thereâs no more sound except the ringing in your ears, so it must be over. You were fighting someone who specialized in explosives, that was it. That explained the hurt, and the confusion.
âI was hit,â you say slowly.
Shanks just nods, looking grim.
Benn appears on your other side, crouching next to you and frowning. You search his face for an idea of the damage, but he keeps it carefully still as he looks you up and down. Then his eyes meet Shanksâ, and they exchange a look that gives you a bad feeling.
As the ringing dies down just a little and your vision clears, the pain grows. Itâs distracting, more so than youâre used to, but whatâs even more distracting is the particular lack of it where it should be.
â...Shanks?â you say. âI canât feel my leg.â
His lower lip wobbles, and then his lips press together in a tight, thin line, and thatâs when you know. You lift your head to try and see, but he stops you again. âDonât look. Itâs better if you donât look.â
Itâs funnyâhe looks like the one on the verge of falling apart. You hate to see him so distraught, so unlike himself, all his cheerful confidence vanished.
âItâs my left legâŚâ you say.
âYeah...â
âThat means we match.â
He smiles ruefully, tears breaking from his lash line and running free. âYeah.â
âItâs gonna be okay,â you say, reaching for his hand.
He takes it gently. âThatâs my line.â
Coping is a funny thing. You spend most of your energy post-surgery comforting Shanks. Not because he canât handle it by himself, and not because he asks you too. Itâs just easier to externalize the situation, to make it about his self-blame rather than address the gaping loss of your body.
Shanks tries to hide it from you, to not burden you, but you know him too well. Eventually, you get tired of how he drinks himself into a stupor most nights. You get tired of how your crutches irritate your armpits, tired of how you keep losing balance, tired of the phantom pains that shoot through nerves that arenât there anymore. You snap at him. You shout. You cry that blaming himself wonât regrow your leg, so canât he please just be there for you? You need himâyouâve always needed himânow more than ever before.
Itâs an ugly, broken confession, but it finally reaches him.
Shanks pulls you in close and apologizes. His eyes are moist even though heâs not usually a crier, overwhelmed by what heâs put you through, overwhelmed that youâre finally admitting your feelings under such nightmarish conditions.
âI love you,â he whispers, over and over. âI love you.â
Healing is both easier after that, and yet harder. Now, with no distraction from your loss, you have to face it head on. Itâs easier because heâs there. That heâs been through this before makes you cling to him more than you would have, surrounding yourself in the grim comforts of someone who understands. Shanks holds you tight on those nights when you scream âitâs gone,â over and over, lets you squeeze his hand when you have phantom pain, helps you shower when you canât manage it by yourself, supports you on your first shaky steps using the prosthetic. The recovery journey is an arduous one, but you make it out the other side closer than ever before.
Years later, itâs something you can joke about without feeling that twinge of loss, especially when your crewmates call you and Shanks a complementary set. Now that youâre finally official with him and back to your full battle capacity, you can appreciate what happened to you for what it proved: that together, you and Shanks are complete.
Mihawk
You and Mihawk were opposite sides of the same coin. As different as you could be from each other, but still inexplicably connected as longtime rivals. Being warlords was the only thing you really had in common: He was a swordsman, you used guns; he sailed alone, you commanded a large crew; his colors of arms was better, your colors of observation was better. He preferred not to talk much, while you loved to egg him into trading banter. Many clashes with each other throughout the years solidified your strange, thrilling rivalry until you looked forward to the rare times you ran into each other.
Nowadays, you only really see each other during warlord meetings. So, when you were ambushed by your own crew, Mihawk was the last person you expected to save you.
He took out the four men holding you down, tossed you your pistols, and fought by your side. Your crew wasnât weak by any meansâ you hand-picked them to sail with youâand had you been alone, you wouldn't have survived. With your combined strength, however, the battle was over quickly.
It surprised Mihawk, then, that you didn't stick around to bother him like you usually did. You fired a smoke round and disappeared. He figured that you were demoralized from the mutiny and didn't have it in you, but when the smoke cleared, he saw tell-tale drops of blood where you were.Â
Mihawk finds you in an abandoned shed not far from the battle. You're panting, hunched down against the wall and facing away from him, a first aid kit at your feet. He's as quiet as a cat when he approaches, but naturally you sense him anyway.
âHow did you find me?â you ask without looking up.
âI followed the blood trail,â he says flatly. âYou should have stemmed the flow before running off.â
âIâm working on it.â
âDid you tie a tourniquet first?â he asks, and even from there he can see you roll your eyes.
âCanât. Itâs not in the right place.â You raise shaky arms to your head, fiddling with somethingâstitches, most likely.
âLet me see.â
You glare at him for a moment, eyes uncharacteristically hard and angry. Then you quietly relent by turning, letting him see your other side. Thereâs a long, deep gash going from your temple down to your neck. Still oozing blood, he can't see for sure, but estimates it's gone down to the bone. Youâve got a few crude, clumsy stitches started in the top, the needle hanging from the wire, but without being able to see what youâre doing, itâs a piss poor job.
Mihawk wordlessly approaches you and crouches down, sharp gold eyes fixed on your wound. âIt needs to be redone,â he says, unsheathing Kogatana and cutting through your stitches. You donât so much as flinch when he pulls the wires outâyou wouldnât dare in front of him, he supposes. Heâd likely do the same. Maybe you were more alike than he thought.Â
He takes the first aid kid from the ground and re-threads the needle, then starts to stitch your wound, pressing gauze to soak up the blood as he goes. âIt's deep,â he says.
âThat explains why it stings so bad,â you mumble. While you successfully resist the urge to wince, you canât stop yourself from tearing up. âManâŚâ
âIt could be worse. It went down to your skull, but the bone itself wasn't damaged.â
âWhat, are you trying to cheer me up?â You turn to look at him, but he tilts your chin back to the side and chides you to hold still.
You exhale harshly through your nose at the unpleasant sensation. âI hate needles,â you say suddenly. âI hate sharp things in general. The thought of a blade going through skin gives me the creeps.â He doesnât respond, and you feel awkward, but you continue anyway, feeling the words tumbling out of you before you can stop them. âIâve teased you about using swords, but the truth is, I could never.â
Mihawk doesnât pause in his stitching, only hums. âIf itâs worth anything, Iâm a terrible shot.â
The corner of your lip twitches up. It does make you feel a little better, to be honest.Â
You glance at the swordsman as he works. His eyes are always so much more intense up close. You used to find it unsettling, but right now, focused as they are on your wound, it just seems oddly endearing. You glance away, blinking quickly, and a tear breaks from your lash line.
When Mihawk pauses to wipe it away, itâs so fluid and unhesitating that you debate if it really happened at all. Warmth creeps into your cheeks, and you avoid looking at him.
âHey, âHawk,â you say.
âWhat?â
You stare at the ground carefully. âWhy did you help me?â
Heâs quiet for a while, perhaps thinking about his answer, perhaps just keeping up his mysterious image.
âYouâre the only one whoâs ever successfully shot me,â he finally says. âTo think someone of your caliber would be taken out by such cowardly tactics doesnât sit right with me.â
You let that sink in while he finishes his work, tying off the stitches and applying the bandages. Itâs weirdâall the times youâve bickered, all the times youâve fought with lethal intent, and yet you trust with all your heart that Mihawk wonât harm you right now.
Youâve let your guard down too much, you think to yourself. Thatâs how you missed the warning signs of your crewâs mutiny, thatâs how you got injured in battle, thatâs how youâve let Mihawk get this close.
Even then, you find yourself leaning your head into his hand. He doesnât say anything, just brushes his thumb over your cheek.
The reality of what youâre doing hits you a moment later, and you quickly stand up, only for the world to spin and your knees to buckle.
Mihawk catches you easily. âYou've lost a lot of blood.â
âIt'll refill,â you mumble.
âIn time. You need to rest.â
âAlright, alright,â you say. His hold is so secure, you kind of never want him to let go. Damn, you have lost a lot of blood. âI owe you for this, Mihawk. Somehow I'll pay you back.â
âHow about dinner?â he asks, and youâre so caught off-guard that you stare owlishly.
âH-Hey, come on, now,â you say, but Mihawk has never really been one to joke. There's a crack in your confident demeanor. âSerious?â
âSerious.â He takes your hand, raising it to his lips, and kisses your knuckles.
Rosinante
âItâs not a fucking show,â you snap at the crew, crowded around where you are in the med bay of the Numenca Flamingo. Doflamingo is bent over the wound in your side, a string attaching his finger to the bullet still inside. Corazon holds your body down.
âYou gonna scream?â Diamante teases cruelly, but you roll your eyes.
âYouâd like that, huh, you sickâFUCK!â you shriek at the end as Doflamingo yanks out the bullet, body jerking against Corazon's iron grip. Diamante and Trebol both chuckle like the bastards they are, but Doflamingo waves them and the rest away as he moves in to disinfect the area.
You shiver, fighting not to tear up in front of the two of them. It is of the utmost importance not to show weakness around Doflamingo. After years of dedication and rigorous work, youâve clawed your way into a promotion from a top Donquixote Pirate to one of the people in his Family.
Itâs imperative, as an undercover Marine, that you donât lose this chance. Your job is to support Corazon. Youâd rather not cry in front of him, either, but thatâs more about pride than anything else.
Doflamingo traces your hip as he finishes sewing you up with his string. âBuffalo said you took the bullet for Baby 5.âÂ
You stiffen at his touch, an oddly soft contrast to the string that nonetheless makes you ill at ease. âYes, Young Master.â Are you in trouble? You donât want to act soft, but you couldnât stand by and let a child get shot, either.
âI see,â he says, and you hold your breath. âIâd expect no less from someone I hand-picked.â
He pats your head once, then leaves the room, and relief courses through your veins alongside the adrenaline.
Corazon gives you a look you canât decipher. He doesnât speak to you, of courseâtoo risky. His voice is a distant memory at this point, all the way from back when you were in training together.
A few uneventful days pass as the crew sails back to base with their spoils. The pain in your side seems to spread to right below your gut, intensifying as it goes. The wound area isnât red or swollen, so you realize you must have gotten your period on top of everything. Great.
Youâre the unlucky type that suffers from hellish, unpredictable menstruation, the pain often debilitating enough to put you out of commission until it abates. It was easier to cover up back in the Marines, feigning illness, but you wouldnât be granted such liberties in the pirate world. You've had to fight through the agony to keep up your appearance as a tough-as-nails pirate commander. It seemed you were being tested again, as now you had to resist while under watch of the Family.
The cramps continue to get worse by the day until youâre nauseated from the pain. You end up vomiting over the side of the ship more than once, which you claim is from eating bad food. You try everything to take your focus off the pain. Meditation, breathing exercises. But for some reason, it just keeps getting worse. Thereâs one day where it seems to slightly abate, and you go to bed believing youâre past the worst of it, only to wake up the next day in complete, room-spinning agony. Moving makes it worse, every time you go to the bathroom or help with the ship tasks it feels like you might pass out. You canât get comfortable no matter which position you lay in, and you sweat like crazy even though itâs cold.
Youâre shaky while you help haul in ropes, thoughts so consumed by how terrible you feel that you jump when Corazon taps your shoulder. He scribbles something on his notepad, then shows it to you.Â
âYou look like shit.â
âThat obvious?â you ask, even as your guts and head both swim in a thick fog of pain. Corazon scribbles some more.
âYour pain tolerance is high. This is unusual for you.â
âItâll pass,â you respond, turning away from him. He starts writing letters on your back, something he does to make absolutely sure no one can read your conversation later through his notepad.
âWorried.â
The guilt eats at you before he can even finish writing it. As Doflamingoâs right hand, Corazon has himself to worry about. Youâre supposed to make his job easier, not be dead weight. So even though this is the worst itâs ever been, even though you just want to cry at how much it hurts, you steel yourself. You canât crumble now. âIâll be okay, Cora,â you dismiss.
Law stands at the foot of your hammock that night as you writhe, a curious Baby 5 next to him.
âWhat do you want, Law,â you grit out.
âList your primary symptoms,â Law says. You glance at him to see heâs holding a notepad and pencil. âAlso, you should let me look at how your woundâs healing.â
âI donât need the opinion of an eight year old,â you spit, the pain making you lash out. Youâve already looked at your wound, youâve dealt with many in the past, and the area around your incision looks fine.
Law clenches his fists, irritated. âYouâre being a real bitch.â
Baby 5 gasps. Law shoots her a glare that makes her whimper and hide behind your hammock. He mutters to himself as he storms out.
âWhy donât you tell someone if youâre feeling bad?â Baby 5 asks timidly once Lawâs gone.
âBecause,â you say, taking a deep breath to try to focus on getting the words out. âI donât have a devil fruit. My haki abilities are rudimentary. I canât fall behind, Baby 5. I want to be useful to the Young Master.â
âI donât understand.â
âOne day youâll get cramps, and hopefully they wonât be this bad. But when it happens, you have to be tough and not let anyone know. Itâs looked down upon by those who donât get them. Youâll be left behindâŚâ
âThatâs gonna happen to me?â Baby 5 looks worried.
You try to reassure her that since sheâs handled everything the adults have thrown at her thus far, sheâll be fine. Baby 5 doesnât look convinced, but you donât have it in you to care right then.
By the next day the pain is so searingly, blindingly intense that no amount of willpower can overcome it. Youâre woken up by it, and this time itâs unmatched by all the previous days combined. It feels like someoneâs poured molten lava into your guts. It feels like your organs are being ripped out of your body. Pressing a pillow into your gut gives you a fraction of relief, but even the slightest relief is like heaven when the pain is that badâuntil youâre ripped back down, not to earth, but to hell, and itâs agony all over again.
Somehow, you manage to get out of your hammock, only to end up on your knees on the floor, holding your stomach and making pitiful noises.
Distantly, you get the sensation that Corazon is writing words on your back, but youâre so out of it that you canât parse them.
âNeed help,â you whimper, voice breaking.
Corazon sends someone to get Doflamingo, who has Law assess you. After taking your vitals and pressing on your abdomen (youâve never considered killing a child before, but it hurts so bad that you scream) Law declares you need to be hospitalized immediately, and also says he told you so just to rub salt in the wound.
Itâs a miracle that thereâs an island within a few hourâs sail. You donât remember those hours very well. Itâs in and out, coming and going with the waves of pain. All you remember is Corazon, staying by your side the entire time. He keeps the crueler Family members away from you, lets you squeeze his hand for comfort, holds your hair back when you throw up. When you make it to the island, heâs the one to carry you to the hospital.
You get palpated again by the hospital doctors (your own special hell) while Corazon holds your hand, get scanned by a machine, and finally diagnosed with a severe infection thatâs gone septic. Post-surgery finally has you in relief, doped up on painkillers, but very, very weak.
Recovery is its own trial. Combined with the strength of the painkillers, plus your body fighting off the infection, you see things when you close your eyes. Youâre not sure if members of the Family come to visit you, or if youâre imagining they were there. The only constant is Corazon.
You wake up one night to see him hunched over in a too-small chair, pinching the bridge of his nose. Even half-awake, you get the sudden sense that heâs trying not to cry. He probably wouldnât want to see you like that, and youâre so, so tired still, so you go back to sleep.
You dream that he speaks to you. Perhaps itâs a memory, but when you wake up, you see his silhouette in the door.
âCora?â You smile, lifting your head, but your smile dies when you see Doflamingo stepping inside.Â
âYoung Master,â you say weakly. Why is he visiting you alone? What could he possibly want, aside from telling you that you were demoted?
âBaby 5 was inconsolable,â he starts, sauntering up to your bed. âSomeone told her sheâd suffer the same condition that you did. Then she said something strange...â He trails a hand on the railing of your bed as he walks up to your side, looming over you. âShe begged us not to abandon her.â You feel your blood run cold as Doflamingo grins. âWhat a silly notion.â
You open your mouth to speak, but canât find the words. He reaches out a hand to brush back your hair and cup your cheek. It takes everything in you not to flinch away.
âCould it be, perhaps, you thought Iâd abandon you, Y/n?â he asks, your daunted face reflected crimson in his sunglasses.
Swallowing, you nod, and he grips your chin harshly.
âIn your concern, you almost got yourself killed,â he says. âI selected you to join me for a reason. You're no good to me dead. Do you understand?â
You nod quickly, and after another terrifying moment where he stares into your eyesâmaybe your soulâhe finally leaves.
Corazon writes furiously later, berating you for being so dismissive of your own condition.Â
âYou were on deathâs door! Your CRP was over 200!âÂ
âHow much is it supposed to be?â
âZero! Fool!!â
You apologize endlessly, and more so as he helps you recover, until he gets sick of your apologies, tooâbut when he takes your hand, his gaze is soft.
From here on out, no more suffering alone, he writes into your palm, we fight together.
He holds your hand in both of his larger ones and, doing a quick check to make sure youâre still alone, brushes his lips against the tips of your fingers.
Suddenly you understand just how much heâs longed not to fight alone in his mission, and how important it is for you to be there. You bow your head, pull his hands so theyâre at your chest, and kiss the back of one. âI understand.â
Blackbeard
Comparatively, you are the better in sheer physical strength to your opponent, but the other pirate outspeeds you. You fail to dodge back far enough from the downward stab of his dagger, and it sinks into the meat of your thigh.
You snarl in pain while he roars in triumph. His roar gets cut off as you suddenly grab his throat.
âInsect!â you snarl as you squeeze hard, grinding his windpipe to his spine. He flails, making horrid choking noises and digging his nails into your hand. Thereâs a brief struggle where he tries to reach the dagger in your thigh, but you grab his wrist before he can and, with a surge of armament haki, snap it in your grip. He canât even cry out like this, just writhes around like mad, and you wait a few more seconds before the blood flow is cut off to his brain for too long, and he goes limp.
The rest of the crew watches from the seats of the bar as you snap his neck sharply before letting him drop. The other patrons of the seedy bar cheer, and cash is begrudgingly exchanged while you hobble back to the Blackbeard Pirates. Doc Q starts to look over your leg as you lean against the bar.
âThirty seconds,â Lafitte says, looking at his pocket watch, âyou said it would take you ten.â
âShut the fuck up, Lafitte,â you warn. The pain wracking through your leg gives you no patience for his snide commentary. âOr Iâll choke you out next.â
âPromise?â
In an instant, you yank the knife out of your thigh and stab it into Lafitteâs so deep itâs almost at the hilt. He screams while Doc Q yells at you, âDonât pull out the knifeâ!â
âThey fucking stabbed me!â Lafitte shrieks as Blackbeard, Burgess and Auger burst out into laughter.Â
âI missed your femoral on purpose,â you grumble. âNext time I wonât.â
Doc Q rushes to stem the bleeding from your thigh, and you cross your arms, trying to quell your temper. Because the Doc has to sew you up first, Lafitte will have to wait a while with that dagger sunken into his leg. Itâs a fitting punishment, but you still kind of want to kill him.
Blackbeard, wearing his shitty grin, drapes his arm around your shoulders. You throw him a warning look that he ignores, as usual. Most times he does this, you push his arm away and otherwise reject him to his face. This is one of the rare times you don't. Youâre still in a lot of pain, and thereâs pretty much nowhere elseâno one elseâon this planet that you could get a comforting touch from. You let him hold you to his side, if only to abate the burning of your injury, and ever so slightly, you feel your rage boil down to a simmer.
âBetter, trinket?â Blackbeard asks you, smirking.
âNo,â you lie.

đAstro Notesđ
The fire signs tend to be confident of finding light at the end of the tunnel. The earth signs are focused in the present - staying busy with practical arrangements can bring security. With planets in air, your key asset is objectivity - conversely, with planets in water you need to give due importance to deep feelings.
The cardinal signs tend to deal with difficuity by taking control and trying to make headway. In the fixed signs, there is natural resilience and staying power. If you have mutable signs strong on the other hand, running away might be your preferred option - but if not, you can use your versatility and capacity to adapt.
The 6th house is a good place to begin. Your daily health plan belongs here and so it is wise to create one which reflects your 6th house planets (and/or the sign on the cusp).
Sometimes there will be contradictions, such as having both Jupiter and Saturn in this house, but this simply means that you must pay attention to both and get them to work in tandem in this area of your life.
Even if you have Chiron or Uranus here, you can devise a way to honour these principles. With Chiron in the 6th, you might be interested in investigating complementary health practices; with Uranus, it might help to exercise in short bursts, and also to find ways to discharge the high-voltage nervous energy this planet exudes. Mercury in 6th house you can have a very exciting lifestyle, and you can also be distracted by many things during the day. Sun in 6th house you like to be productive during the day itself.
The 12th house Traditionally this was regarded as the house of sickness, a place where planets lose vitality and are "weak" in their expression. Other astrologers speak of karma and "past lives" in respect of this house. A psychological approach can shed light on this.
Planets in the 12th are hidden from view - thus our motivations and behaviour patterns around them tend to be unconscious. In addition, the "past lives" can be seen as those of our ancestors; planets here can hint at complexes or traumas experenced by past generations, which we have somehow inherited.
These hidden feelings often make themselves known to us in psychosomatic form, as physica. symptoms. An example of this might be the Moon here suggesting an experience of lack of nourishment or care, which might emerge as a longing to be looked after; with Mercury here you can experience of not being allowed to speak out, which emerges as illnesses or conditions connected to the voice.
People with a lot of neptune, 12th house energy are more prone to daydreaming and have a more relaxed outlook on life. You are not so inclined to be able to do something immediately or to be organized, you are often more inclined to do things when you feel like it. You do a lot of things by feeling.
Sun -your indentity and purpose can emerge from a life dedicated to service. Mercury- you have ability to manifest a lot of things. You have a wild imagination. Pluto- You have a very strong intuition and often feel things before they happen.
Pluto can be very powerful in this position.
Based on your venus u can see what type of love u want and where u feel the most loved. Venus is also your pleasure and desire. Where you find your value. Your beauty, art , music, things you love to do. Sagittarius venus you find beauty while traveling. The love you have for places is very big. You love people with whom you can share adventures, fun things, passion. Virgo venus for you grandness of love is shown through everyday acts of affection and care.
Virgo Rising -they have trouble finding true love. They attract many partners who don't suit them in the way they would like them to be. They are also quite individualistic. They like to be with people they can connect with as part of their routine, they usually look for someone who has a similar lifestyle to them. But many times they attract people who are the opposite of who they are, especially since they have Pisces in the 7th house. At least once in their lives, they attract someone who betrays them or has a false identity. They often have a thinner physique and have a harder time gaining weight.
Cancer Rising-they tend to find the right partner later in life.Usually when they have a Saturn return. Before that, they can attract many karmic partners.
Capricorn Rising-they are very independent and can do many things on their own. They also have a lot of luck in love, often find partners, are caring, and create a beautiful home with them. They have a lot of self-respect and will never let you humiliate them.
Libra Rising -They flirt a lot and always need love, but because this is the house of Mars, it is sometimes very difficult for them to regulate their energy. Your personality is naturally passive aggressive at times. You don't like conflicts.. You see the beauty in everything and always want to be kind to people. But there is one side of you that doesn't show as much. That is, people always think you are very open because of your friendly energy, but you are actually quite a closed person. You don't really share your privacy with others.
Sagittarius Rising- Your personality is very optimistic and you try to look at life from a positive perspective. Many times you can have certain beliefs that you don't deviate from. You are also a very resourceful person. You can quickly get out of situations that are not pleasant

MOTH AND LOPER!! YEAH!!! ft. @heavenhearst under the goggles... The mindspike articulates and is motorized... it gave up the goat literally as soon as the cosplay contest ended, lol Did not get to finish the lenticular film glasses in time, but such is life!!!! We got 4th place honorable mention in the group costume contest so i am pretty happy :) further thoughts and WAY more images below!
loper thoughts we know from the game that Loper is in some kind of hazard gear, so i gave them the jumpsuit (in the tradition of ellen ripley, real astronauts, and ghostbusters) as opposed to a labcoat or anything like that. we took in the waist to make it fit better. i think with the mindspike on, it made the resemblance even stronger.... these ghostbusters did not quite get why i was so amused at taking a photo with them, but i think this is a pretty good image nonetheless.

observin' makes me feel good! and speaking of the mindspike: this is my first time working on anything to this level-- I am not a robotics person! hell of a learning experience & i already have plans for version 2. mindsci i am not but i think i did pretty ok... the spike has two controllers: a modified slotcar controller & a separate knob that sits in one of the pockets (controls left/right axis). the other knob is pretty discreet and allows for puppeting the spike without a bright yellow Device in my hands. the RCA jacks on the back hooked up to Moth's laptop, so for photos it looks like they are hooked up to the spike and taking readings.
the claw was made nearly 1:1 to the game model to save on time and weight. con crunch wahoo! some extras: i put together fake 'e-paper' displays for our ids. if you have seen my prior posts, these will look familiar! i had a blast designing a seal for the FBX and a layout for these ids. i wanted to give them a better finish (hide the obvious 3d printing), but.. time crunch.. oops... the Moth id also has a little incandescent bulb in it, though I have no photos of it active. for my gloves, i intended to use gloves for high-voltage electrical work, but i was allergic to the latex, so i grabbed some dishwashing gloves off amazon and glued the label to them, hehe.

shoutout to the tf2 medic who was wearing the same pair of gloves! moth thoughts for moth, we had the benefit of the wonderful official cosplay by Shaman-- which you can see all over corru.store! (thank you shaman for the pointers!!!) Heaven thought it would be fun to take him in a more "I'M IN!" direction, so our Moth has painted nails and fingerless gloves and a great big coat over his button-down and slacks. complimented with some pins from hot topic and i think he assembled a pretty comprehensive vibe! i made the goggles out of some blue LEDs, rice paper, and a pair of costume goggles off Amazon. they are entirely opaque. moth is just such a gamer he knows exactly where everything is anyway.

you can also see the FBX patch that is present on both our Loper and Moth!
everything else wtf you read this far? cool! i don't really have anything else to add... but maybe you will see Loper at Supercon Miami in 2025.... only time will tell.....

Hey so in reference to my previous ask, can you do one were the reader is having trouble controlling their powers (you can decide those) and either Kurt or Erik comfort them after a bad day and end up confessing to the reader. You can ad smut if you want but if not that's totally fine tooâşď¸.
Your Existence is Grand
Erik Lehnsherr x gn!reader
Erik notices you having a rough day with your powers and decides to shower you with praise.
(This is my first fanfic literally ever so feedback appreciated, but also... Sorry for any mistakes!!!!)
Trigger warnings: cursing, suggestive themes (I don't know what else to write here, pls let me know if there's anything else I should add!)
The air around me begins buzzing and crackling, becoming charged with electricity and I sigh, deeply frustrated before I reach for the metal doorknob in front of me and receive a shock so strong that all the muscles in my arm cramp up painfully. I curse under my breath, forcing my arm to bend and stretch the tense muscles as I walk into the lounge, getting a glimpse of the others outside. Some might say Iâd been gifted with a particularly powerful mutation, that it made me strong and intimidating. That I am admired for it, as if itâs a blessing to be grateful for.
But in this god-forsaken world, all I could see was a curse that plagued my body. I never bothered to understand the science behind it, as much as others might have tried to explain it to me. Something about the electricity in my body behaving abnormally, affecting the air around me and in turn, other electronics or conductors of electricity, turning me into a walking hazard around power lines, or thunderstorms. Let's not even mention the sheer amount of electrical fires Iâve caused. Sure, it sounds cool. But the reality is basically hell.
One of the âbestâ parts about my mutation is that it is terribly unstable, especially when youâre constantly surrounded by electricity no matter where you go. Everyone else who charges up some static then touches a piece of metal receives a little sting from a silly little shock. It might be a little funny or perhaps surprising! Maybe it happens when you touch fingers with someone else and you shock each other, what a cute moment!
Try getting fucking electrocuted every single time.
Nowhere near as cute, nor as fun.
Some days are worse than others and the more restless I become, the worse it is for me in the end. But unfortunately, I canât lay in bed immobile for an entire day to lower the voltage my body is producing, resulting in my current conundrum. Avoiding the rest of the X-Men in order to avoid any potential accidents, especially with Jubilee. Fireworks and a highly-charged mutant body surrounded by a bunch of high-tech only spells out bad news. Luckily, it seems like most of them were outside on the basketball court. Thatâs what I thought, at least.
âI take it youâre having a bad voltage day?â the voice of none other than Magneto startles me out of my thinking. Itâs been more than a few months of him living here with us, but his presence is still unexpected. I had a hard time training the knee-jerk defensive reaction out of my body for the first few days, my body becoming charged up so quickly that I wouldnât even have the chance to blink before I shot a bolt of electricity at him.
He was quick to show that a little spark didnât do much to him, given that he was essentially a walking magnetic field.
I turn to him, his large form standing at the entrance to the lounge, âWhat makes you say that?â I turn back to watch as Scott and Logan start another argument, their voices muffled by the glass.
âThe air keeps crackling and I have a hard time believing thereâs a storm inside the buildingâ he approaches until he pauses at my side. I chuckle a little, giving a wince once I feel my sore muscles constrict. He turns to watch me.
âHm, I donât know, maybe Storm has had enough of those two at each otherâs throatsâ I try to joke but my voice falters, as my heart begins to race again and the sound of the air buzzing around me becomes overwhelming. Tremors begin rippling across my muscles, a mixture of them cramping and relaxing too fast for me to keep up with. Losing the strength in my legs, I stretch a hand out toward the glass in front of me to hold myself up but I miss the glass by a couple inches. Erikâs hands are quick to grab onto my arms before pulling me into his chest, supporting my weight as the crackling noise fills my ears and I let out a pained shout. My body releases a strong burst of electricity, most of it absorbed by Erikâs magnetic field, whilst the rest causes the power in the building to go out. I pant loudly, trying to catch my breath, feeling like my heart mightâve stopped in the middle of that.
The lights flicker around us before the power in the school hums back to life. Erikâs hands are still around me, I realize before beginning to step away, but his hold on me tightens. He pulls me back against his chest and I try to fight back the heat thatâs slowly creeping up to my face. This is a bit embarrassing. Iâll admit it, I had grown to like Erik in the time heâd been with us, not to mention I had quite a few run-ins with him before I ever joined the X-Men. He always seemed so⌠Powerful, he always felt safe to be around. As radical as the Professor may claim he is, he always seemed⌠Right. You could hear the passion in his voice when he spoke of mutantkind and it made you want to side with him, to be loyal and to follow him to the ends of the Earth.
He had a powerful presence, and as I am now discovering, a powerful touch. One of the very few people who could come near me without fear of being electrocuted. My muscles had begun to twitch in the aftermath of the shock. These are the unfortunate moments where I wish I could be rid of my mutation. I could barely hold myself up and here I was in Erikâs arms.
âYou should be restingâ his voice was stern, but there was a hint of concern in there. I raise my gaze to meet his, feeling a bit of shame.
âI canât just lay in bed all day, the world is still turning, thereâs things to doâŚâ I muttered.
âPrecisely, the world is still turning and it will still continue to turn if you are at rest. You, on the other hand, are not a planet and you need to care for yourselfâ
I stare into his eyes, feeling them pierce through my soul. He always seemed to be right about everything⌠I chuckle under my breath as I regain some strength in my legs, straightening back up.
âIâm sure you must be tired of having to run after all of us like a babysitterâ I joke as his arms come to rest on my shoulders once Iâm stable on my feet.
A glint crosses his eyes, âI do wonder how Charles managed, and then I remember heâs a telepath, so it mustâve been quite easy for himâ he replies with a smirk gracing his face that makes me laugh a little.
âHe still struggled, you shouldnât compare yourself to the Professorâ
He begins to lead me toward the couch behind us, helping me take a seat before joining me. I still feel a hot streak of shame across my stomach, having him help me. Burdening him.
âSorry, by the way⌠Youâre right, I should be a little more considerate of othersâ I mutter.
Erik turns to look at me as I avoid making eye contact, âI donât believe those were my wordsâŚâ his hand reaches out toward my chin, gently turning my head to face him, âI only ask of you to rest and care for yourself, forget what the others may thinkâ
I blinked up at him, âThe Professor always wanted me to push past my limits, so that I can perhaps get stronger⌠Control my powers betterâ
âIn a perfect world, you wouldnât have to restrict your abilities, you could rule this planet with a wave of your hand, what you have is something to be proud of, not ashamedâ he places his hand against my cheek and I find myself leaning against his warm touch, âYour mutation is a blessing, not a curseâ
I scoff, âSure doesnât feel that way, I canât even live among humans without shutting down an entire cityâs powerâ
âYour powers shouldnât be hidden, controlled, or restricted for the sake of humanityâ he says the word with disdain, âbut those are my beliefs, your existence is grand mein lieblingâ
My heart thumps against my chest loudly at his words. It feels⌠Intimate. How could he speak such high praise toward me?
âI see you hurt and I watch as you restrain yourself around others, as your mutation basically eats your body alive and it pains meâŚâ his eyes gaze across my face, pausing at my lips before trailing back up to my eyes, âIt pains me that you live in a world where you feel you cannot rest, where you feel you must hide the power within youâ
âErikâŚâ I whisper, almost afraid to shatter the moment between us, âWhat are you⌠What are you sayingâŚ?â I peer into his eyes, seeing something brewing behind his gaze. Could it be possible that heâs⌠No, thereâs no way.
âWhat do you believe Iâm saying?â he whispers softly, leaning in toward me. I jump as a few sparks fly out from where he has his hand on my cheek. I canât help my eyes dropping to his lips before rising back up to his eyes.
I feel the tension rise and in a desperate attempt to avoid it, I joke, âIf I was delusional, I might think youâre trying to confess to me right nowâ I laugh a little to dispel the tension. His gaze was still just as intense so I failed, but I tried my best.
A smile graced his features, âYes⌠Perhaps if you were delusional, you might see that I am actually confessing my feelings for you right nowâ he says it so casually I almost think heâs playing along with my joke, but as my eyes widen, so does his smile.
âAre youâŚ?â my voice wavers a little. I feel my heart drop, realizing heâs probably joking with me. I turn away from his hand, lightly pushing his chest to put distance between us.
âIs this some sort of joke? Come on, Erik⌠You know thatâs⌠Itâs unrealisticâ I mutter, a man like him would never love someone like me, thatâs not how it works⌠Maybe in the movies, or in a fairytale perhaps.
âMein liebling, perhaps I havenât been clear enough with youâ he wraps his arms around my shoulders and pulls me in close, closer than before, âdo you prefer a visual demonstration instead? I can give you that, you only need to askâ he smiles before slowly leaning in, giving me enough time to back out if I wished, but I find myself leaning in, eager to feel his lips against mine.
As soon as our lips locked together, sealed at last, a burst of electric sparks flew out from our lips and I giggled into the kiss. I mean, how ironic is that? I felt real, literal sparks and fireworks from the kiss and it made my lips tingly. Erik smiles into the kiss before deepening it, his hand rising up toward my hair while the other trailed down my back and I found myself desperate to be closer to him, wrapping my arms around his neck, clumsily climbing over to sit on his lap. We part right as I begin losing my breath and he trails a burning, tingly trail of kisses down my jaw before he stops by my ear.
With a whisper that blew across the nape of my neck, âI see more than just greatness in you, so much moreâŚâ The words are charged with intention, passion, and sincerity. I shudder as the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end and I bite back a moan as he continues kissing down my neck. I take a sharp breath in as he begins sucking on a tender spot before I suddenly realize what weâre doingâŚ
Where weâre doing it.
I turn slightly to peek at the windows, making sure the others are still thoroughly distracted with playing before I feel Erik bite my skin and a moan breaks out, âWait! Erik⌠Weâre⌠In the loungeâŚâ
He lifts his head, and the dark look in his blue eyes makes me clench my legs in anticipation, âWeâll just have to be fast⌠And quiet⌠Can you do that?â He taunts me with a question I donât even get the chance to answer before he lays me down on the couch, climbing over me, âIâm just helping you relax, thatâs not a sin, is it?â He looks down at me with a hungry gaze and I feel my cheeks burn.
âI guess notâ
âShow me what else you can do with these sparks of yoursâ

Part 2 of my MC's file from the yandere!batfam au
HER ARSENAL:
-Lucia's skills as a hacker are inspired by the Watch Dogs universe.
-She can remotely hack phones to access data, disable alarms, or track locations. Tamper with security cameras for intel or to map out routes. Overloard junction boxes to create distractions or disable power.
-Even manipulate traffic lights to cause accidents or create a escape route.
-She can also override vehicle systems, remotely controlling cars or locking people inside.
-She's also an inventor. Her fascination with tech doesn't end only in programming. She loves creating and developing tech stuff. Robots and drones are her favourites, designed for surveillance, as weapons, or other related tasks, such as planting bugs and retreiving items.
-With time, she learns to build specialized tools like signal jammers, EMPs, or hacking tools disguised as everyday items. Nothing escapes her.
-She has many hiding spots in Gotham, after years of finding routes by jumping through rooftops and sneaking around, but she mostly frecuents her main safehouse, that's located within an abandoned warehouse in The Narrows, and extends below utilizing portions of the closed underground station.
-She knows no one would think of looking down there, unless they know what they're looking for.
-It serves her as a workshop, but also as an operations center and her own personal heaven, where she can rest and enjoy herself in peace. She feels more at home there than in the Wayne manor.
-She puts her gymnastic skills to good use, sneaking through rooftops, alleyways, and urban infrastructure to her advantage. Sometimes she'll rely on drones for mobility instead, controlling them to scale virtually any wall and obstacle that she can't by bypass with parkour.
-She's not a fighter, but years of judo classes have allowed to defend herself when the situation calls for it. She's usually armed with compact, high-voltage stun weapons that incapacitate people without killing them. All of which designed and developed by her.
-She operates with an alter ego, Ghost, and later Zero, with which she manages her "errands" and communicates with people who hire her services. At first, the alter ego only exists online, but with time, she begins to intervene more in her missions, and it's not unusual for her to sneak into places to do her work, so she uses a disguise.
-When she's acting as her alter ego, she wears form-fitting athletic wear for unrestricted movement, with a jacket over it with deep pockets and hidden compartments, that helps conceal her shape. A sleek, high-design mask that covers from her nose to her forehead, equipped with augmented reality features for hacking on the go and a voice modifier, which creates a robotic tone that makes impossible to discern her age or gender. She also uses gloves, to keep her fingerprints away from any surface.
-She started doing some hacking here and there for hiring, but eventually, she associates with villains and works with them. She does some morally and legally questionable stuff (downright crimes) for money and also for the thrill of power, for the self-validation.
-Regardless, she doesn't really follow anyone. She works on her own terms and mostly does her own things. She's friends with some other hackers too and they work together from time to time, but otherwise, she acts alone.
-The classes and extracurricular activities she took in an effort to impress her family (judo, gimnastics, programming, drawing) have proven to be very useful with her new job, giving her a set of skills that she's honed for her not-so-legal endevours.
-She has her own motorbike, her favourite gift from Alfred that she treasures. She calls it "my baby", and has given it a few not very legal modifications to improve the design to her taste.
Personal info:
-She doesn't call Bruce "dad" or "father". It's always Bruce, or Mr Wayne if she feels particulally petty.
-She was banned from judo competitions after accidentally breaking her oponent's leg. In her defense, she had an awful day and the poor bastard decided it was a good idea to taunt her into hitting him. She claims she's gotten over it already (lies, she still gets pissy over it).
-She's been practically raised by Alfred, and they have the sweetest bond. He's the only person in the manor she respects, and wants to make him proud. That's why she does her best to hide her double life from him, knowing he would dissaprove.
-Funny enough, because Alfred is the same one who taught her how to shoot a gun and where to stab someone to render them helpless. The man is no fool, he knows he can't stop a teenager from doing dumb shit, but he can at least make sure she's prepared for the worst outcomes.
-She has the habit of moving around the manor like a monkey, climbing and jumping around like the proud gymnast she is. The manor is like a obstacle park for her. Why take the stairs when she can just jump off the rail and land gracefully on the ground? It's much faster.
-Alfred had to patch her up more than once from stunts gone wrong, but always encouraged her that "there's no victory without failure".
-She's grown up helping Alfred around the manor, slowly but surely taking his tasks from him and doing them herself so he can rest. She's worried about his high activity at his old age, fearing he might drop dead one day out of exhaustion.
-They share the house chores, and he calls her "his little helper", even though she's taller than him now. Lucia's heart melts when he calls her that, but pretends to complain with "she's not a kid anymore"
-She's fixated with the color red ever since her mom's death, specially with the kind of red that resembles blood stains. At the same time, she has severe claustrophobia.
-She hates the color green ever since Damian tried to kill her. It reminds her of his eyes.
-Speaking of it, she's either indifferent or polite with the others, but she hates Damian with passion. He gave her trauma, nightmares and a permanent scar on her neck that would never dissapear, among being an absolute bully whenever their paths cross. She avoids him entirely.
-Even thought she's stranged, she's still known as Bruce Wayne's daughter. She got kidnapped not much later after moving in to Wayne Manor by Penguin, whom she won over by being overly nice and polite with despite her circumnstances. Her mother taught her that bowing her head and be pleasant could save her life in the worst situations (pity it didn't save her)
-She was rescued quickly enough by Bruce, but he handled the ordeal as if it was an inconvenience rather than his daughter having been in a life-threatening situation.
-She's been kidnapped and attempted to more times over the years, each one cementing her belief that she had to save herself because no one else would.
-Her little brother, Marco, is a year younger than Damian, and has dyslexia, which is one of the reasons Lucia works so hard to provide him the best from a distance. She knows the educational system doesn't fit kids with special needs like him, specially if they're orphans.
-She's taken upon herself to be a mother for Marco, unconsciously seeking to cope with their mom's death by taking her place in his life. She visits him frecuently at the orphanage and pulls strings so he doesn't get adopted. It's selfish, she knows, but she can't stand the idea of another family getting him and losing contact with him.
-Being possessive with family runs in her blood.
-She adores him, but her relationship with the boy is also built on her feelings of neglect and the trauma of losing their mother. She holds unto him not only out of love, but because she feels he's the only true family she has. The only brother who loves her unconditionally and doesn't make her feel like shit.
-She's a parentified oldest daughter at its finest, used to act like an adult even at a young age. The only times she allows herself to be a girl her age is when she's alone with Alfred or with her best friends.
-She smokes and has some self-destructive tendencies, but crosses the line at getting drunk.
-She has discounts at the Iceberg Lounge whenever she goes. Gets along surprisingly well with Oswald Cobblepot, with him being somewhat fond of her since the kidnapping.
-Because of this, she has met a couple of villains already and even talked to them. Ivy and Harley are secretly scouting her for Siren potential, trying to see if she's worth it.
-All of them at some point have met her alter ego online. She has contacts everywhere.
-Marco's biological father is a pillar in both their lives since they were kids, and Lucia has a complex dynamic with the man. His identity is relevant to the plot.
-Out of all her "siblings", she likes Duke the most. He's the only one who's been friendly with her since the beginning and hasn't gotten bored of her, unlike Stephanie. They were close before, but after Lucia found out their secret identities, she kept her distance from him, much to his sadness.
-She doesn't mind Barbara and Cassandra. She's polite when she sees them and has no particular problem with their presence.
-She strongly dislikes Dick, Jason and Stephanie, and she doesn't have an opinion on Tim, beyond that he has assholes vibes.
-My Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Damian Wayne from this au are inspired by the ones from @solelifauna. If you want to get an idea, go check her works and you'll understand.
-Lucia knows all of their vigilante lives, but pretends she doesn't so to not give them a reason to bother her. Alfred is aware that she knows, since he was there when she found out, in an accidental way.
-Long story short, she snuck in the Batcave and saw all the stuff, including the uniforms. She had a mental breakdown right there and rushed to pack her stuff, determined to run away. She's a criminal, she doesn't want to share space with the people who hunt down those who break the law. Alfred caught her and managed to convince her to stay, agreeing that she would keep the secret and the family wouldn't have to know about this incident.
-Alfred thinks he reacted like that because she's afraid of being targeted by the Batfamily's enemies.
-In reality, she's afraid of being targeted by the Batfamily themselves.

as a fellow denki lover, i would love to hear your interpretation of his kinks đŤś

i know some people think he's a switch but he's not. <33 hard dom <33
dumbification- making you go dumb on his cock?? yeah!! people always underestimate him, calling him stupid, he's not and you know that more than anyone. but he does enjoy making you stupid though, thrusting into you hard and face, making your eyes glazed over with a vacant gaze on your face as you smile up at him dopey. "awe look at you babe. i've really fucked every brain cell out of you." his thrusts become harder with each word.
humiliation- seeing a humiliated look on your face after some hard degradation is one of his favourite looks on you. he's going to try to say and do anything that will humiliate you. "oh god you look pathetic, choking on my cock like that." "awe are you gonna cry? go on, show me, let me hear your pretty sobs" "what a slut. your pussy is so wet and i haven't even touched you yet."
piss- piss kink ties in heavily with his humiliation kink. i have a 1.7k word fic all about his piss kink, the whole thing is about it (x)
electrocution kink (him using his kink on you!!)- popped into his mind randomly and had to do it as soon as he could. he has you laying on your back with him hovering above you and touching random parts of your body upping the volts slightly each time just to see you jolt and yelp. obviously he knows how to handle the voltage and make sure he doesn't actually hurt you. focuses his touches on and around your nipple, also your inner thighs. after a particularity loud noise from you he stops his administrations and cheeks in on you, "shit! babe, are you okay, what colour? did i go too high. i'm so sorry baby."

so what if the Bats were Spiders instead?
in a different universe, Bruce Wayne grew up with arachnophobia instead of chiroptophobia. he found secret experiments in a lab beneath their family estate, and it didnât take him long to pick up the family business.
neurotoxin experiments. spiders.
in a different universe, Bruce Wayne became Spider-Man.
in a different universe, Dick Grayson didnât need to be bitten by a spider to pick up the Spider-Man mantle. he grew up knowing how to do all the acrobatics and combat anywaysâ all B had to do was give him web shooters and a suit. but there couldnât be two Spider-Manâs. so he became Nightwing. but with a blue spider on his chest instead of a bird!
Nightwingâs webs come from his escrima sticks. theyâre packing some serious voltage, so sometimes in a pinch heâll use them instead of his police-issued taser. his favorite part about the whole spider thing is that he can fully just⌠throw himself off of buildings. and not die. heâs an adrenaline junkie, what can he say?
in a different universe, Jason Todd did everything the same. tried to steal the wheels off the vehicle of the most famous vigilante in Gotham. B picked him up and let him choose the spider and gave him the power to do good.
Robin âgiving him magicâ didnât stop the Green Goblin from caving in his skull. although spiders you thought youâd killed do have a way of disappearing.
and returning. in a different universe, the Red Hood took the black widow as his mascot and nobody could do anything in Gotham City without him knowing about it. he single-handedly put down all the arms dealers in the city.
in a different universe, Tim Drake made his own spider. heâd been a fan of Thomas and Bruce Wayneâs work for his whole life, or at least since he learned how to readâ and he figured he could get Spider-Manâs attention if he was able to replicate the project as young as he did.
oh, he got Spideyâs attention all right. befriending and adopting an alien symbiote will do that. player 4 has joined the game.
in a different universe, Venom is co-piloted by Tim, who really does like aliens. B thinks itâs a tiny bit weird, but while Tim is tiny his alien companion is very much not. itâs extra armor.
Tim works at the Daily Bugle. nobody knows how exactly he gets the quality kind of photos he does of Gothamâs Spider-family situation, but whoâs complaining? heâs just really good at his job.
in a different universe, Cassandra Cain was bitten by a spider before she even met Bruce Wayne. her mother had trained her for combat for her whole life. she couldnât prepare her for superpowers.
B was happy to help. in a different universe, rather than Cass becoming Blackbat, she took on the alias Black Widow. watch your back for her, though. sheâs got the same deadly instinct in every universe.
in a different universe, Stephanie Brown became the first Spider-Woman. of course, she wasnât the only one, but thereâs something about being the original, isnât there?
she knows sheâs funny. she thinks itâs part of the job; it feels right. sheâs the closest to the average canon Spider-Man. she couldâve been recruited to the Society at any point in time. and thereâs something about that too.
in a different universe, Damian Wayne was born with superpowers. heâd inherited Bruceâs from birth. Talia was quick to hand him off once she realized her baby could crawl on walls and ceilings. the Spider Cave was getting a bit crowded, but whatâs one more dangerous, unpredictable, biologically enhanced child? bring it on.
aside from Hood, Tarantula is the only Spider willing to kill a man on the field. yeah, as in. bird-eating tarantula. Robin. get it?
of course, in a different universe, he still had his katana. wouldnât be Damian Wayne without it. his favorite thing is to swing down from a skyscraper with his webs and run through bad guys like kebabs. B says itâs immoral, but who can be mad about stabbing Doc Ockâs goons?
in another universe, Duke Thomas is the most famous member of the family. heâs the other closest to canon Spider-Man. he takes the day jobs, he talks to the press, heâs the least-hated at the Daily Bugle.
his webs glow. that makes night ops harder. so he sticks to the sunlight. people started calling him the Spider-Signal. which doesnât make a lot of sense? but Duke is the kinda guy to just kinda shrug it off, because heâs not gonna take on the entire cityâs press on his own.
Miguel OâHara stayed the bleeding hell away from this universe. this group of bats spiders were too unpredictable to have in the Spider Society at all. there were no missions there, but constant surveillance. (until. you know. Miles Morales rocked up with a proposition to take down a tyrannical system with horrible judgement and a corrupted leader. and then Miguel couldnât ignore the Wayne family anymore.)
how I love the multiverse. endless possibilities, amirite?
(please ask me to write more for this au. drabbles. more characters. PLEASE)

ËËË â
ËËË dating digger harkness headcanons
this is a very specific reader because i love the idea of this grimy hobo having a cute, smart girly partner that is the candy floss to his raccoon energy OKAYYY. also tcm shenanigans will be back shortly, i just had to give some love to a dc rogue like the old times<33
tags: feminine reader (wears dress, skirt, heels, mild makeup and has breasts and v) but gn pronouns. sugar daddy digger if you squint. reader is a jailbird. cuddling. pet name: birdie. smut under the cut - minors dni. polaroid nudes. (m) masturbation. thoughts of: oral (m receiving) and cowgirl.
If you were to ask Digger the first thing he noticed about you, his caveman mind would be objectifying. But your ass did look very flattering in your skirt and the smile you shot his way was the cherry on top. He likes them sweet and innocent, you like them rugged and dangerous. It was a match made in hell heaven.
After a few dates spent in dingy pubs and loverâs lanes, he was enamoured by you. Heâs never had someone look at him the way you do. Eyes full of light, glistening at the sight of him. You always welcomed him with open arms, practically throwing yourself at him. He liked how easy you were to pick up, and the way you wrapped your limbs around him. How your soft skin blushes red against his scruffy neck. No matter the setting, you sat so close to him that you were more or less on his lap. He wraps his arms around you, or has a hand on your thigh, letting nearby acquaintances know you belong together. Digger thinks to himself, âI got so fucking lucky.â
His love languages are primarily gift-giving and physical touch. More times than you can count, Digger has fallen asleep on top of you. Either on the couch, while watching a movie or he found a way to snake between your legs while sleeping, he has a habit of using you like a pillow. You developed a kinship in moments like this where you play with his hair, massaging your fingers into the nape of his neck or twirling the strands that curtain his temples. You muse at his sleep-full hums, watching this rogue unwind under your touch, satisfied like a dog receiving pets. The gift-giving is when his rogue side is on high voltage. He wants to give you the world, shower you with jewels, let you wear the best of gear. âYou want diamonds? Yeah, Iâll get you diamonds,â Heâll muse, mixing his pleasures with yours. When he robs a bank, the majority of his stolen dollars has been spent on you since you met him. Did your car get towed? He bought you a new one, along with the insurance. Need a new dress for the weekend? Heâs got you sorted, along with heels and a bag to match. âCanât have my bird in peasant clothes!â He protests, âNot with that crackenâ bod.â Queue the wink.
He loves showing you off, chuffed that he proved his doubters wrong that he could settle down and have a gorgeous significant other. âWhat they see in you, I donât know . . .â They say, whether that be Deadshot, King Shark, heck even Amanda is amazed by it. He keeps candid polaroids of you in his pocket on the job, looking at them when he misses you. He squeezes the unicorn plushie you gifted him when he is stressed, anything to feel your presence when youâre half the world away. A shit-eating grin on his face when people tease him about his love for you, using it to embarrass him. âAwh, itâs puppy love,â Harley cooes, and Digger nods, all chuffed with himself.
Digger gave you the nickname âBirdieâ because well . . . Youâre a jailbird. He is in prison for heinous crimes, after all! Oh, is he touched-starved when youâre standing there, pretty face to the phone, separated by glass and talking in your voice that melts him like butter. His eyes are eating you up, desperate to have his hands on you. Heâll do all the suicide missions going to shred off the jail time, to get closer to the day his lips are kissing yours. Blackmailing Amanda to get you the best of the best, pay off college debt, holidays abroad, and spoil you when he cannot. âOh, Birdie, when I get out of here Iâm not letting you out of my sight, youâre stuck with me.â He groans, drunk on love. All you do is smile, sliding a pack of Polaroids under the screen when the guards arenât looking. âHave these to tide you over in the meantime,â you tease. Digger rushes back to his cell, flipping through the photos. First were of you in dresses that were his favourites, the type of ones that are flowy and floral, framing you so delicately. They get more desirable as he flips them over, and his eyes lull in lust.
Digger loves the dirty photos you send him, it drives him fucking insane. Itâs good to keep you fresh in his mind, but it borders on teasing just having you to look at. He didnât have the brightest imagination, but this was good practice. Imagine how soft your thighs are under his callous hands, what your lips taste like with the lipgloss you have on. Your delicate hands trace his bulge, your touch replacing his heavy-handed grasp. Bucking into your hands as he sucks your breasts, teasing your nipples, muttering how perfect you are. His sweet little birdie, all belonging to him. Your eagerness proves your devotion. You take his infamous size so well, your spit coating his cock as your tongue swirls around his pulsing tip. As he wanks himself off, muffling his groans, he has the faintest memory of your cunt. How wet you always were for him, how eager you bounced on his cock. His eyes closed as he pumped his cock faster, edging to the echoes of past moans you chanted in his ear.

i meow i already mentioned this in a post but i actually kinda wanna go in depth about "Alarm Call" â The Correspondents and how it genuinely fits tony n sketch n chester so much
like .. the first bit feels so tony n sketch to me . specifically about how tony fulfilled the older brother for paper ["Your alarm call's on and I'm coming to your rescue // I know exactly what to do // I make the call and sit by you // Check your heartbeat against mine // And mop your brow from tine to time" and "When I'm the person by your side // Upon me you can rely // When you're high and when you're dry"]
on top of that . the lyrics "The irony is that my recovery is always slower than yours // You're back on your feet in no time while I'm still floored" mirror the fact that sketch has been able to move on from paper's past with tony's help . while tony's been stuck in this desolate . grieving state for hundreds of years
i think the song keeps working for them up until the point of the lyric "Check your heartbeat against mine // But there's no trace of it this time" where it shifts from tony n sketch to tony n chester
i say this because the following verses mirror their history perfectly ["Where have you gone? I am calling on you! // My siren's on and there's so many things that I need you to do // Be my mentor, be my guide // Tell me when to run and when to hide"] â chester taking care of tonie and guiding him throughout his formative years . and the subsequent lyrics ["I know you would've known just what to do // With all the things that life could throw at you"] are also reflective of tony feeling lost and alone without him ; no clue how how to deal with this situation on his own and being certain that "if he was still here" things would be good ...
i also think that the part of "My siren will remain on for a while // Waiting soundproof by a timid little smile // I'm still haunted by your alarm call" also shows that . even though sketchbook is now at his side and willing to be there for him in his times of need . he still can't let go of the grief and . more importantly . the guilt that he holds over it
the whole "if he was still alive everything would be fine" mantra is only accentuated in the last lyrics of the song ["So many moods that you could change // So many thoughts you'd rearrange // So many rules I know you'd bend // So all good things will find their end..."] since tony is certain that chester was the element that kept him sane ; "if he was still alive i would be happy ..." â itz perfect because itz clear that tony is looking at the past with rose tinted glasses . while simultaneously ignoring the fact that sketchbook makes him feel so fulfilled and alive and that so many more joys like these await him in the future ...
all because of an event from the past that couldn't have been prevented . no matter what tonie did ...
"the past is far behind us // the future doesn't exist" after all ...
#look at my cringe . in-depth analysis of my au characters#do it meow.#i spent too long writing this ....#nobody's gonna care anyway#by the day im getting more and more tempted to make art of them for this song#and at some point when ill have more free time and be less stressed . i probably will#but at this point all i can do is rant about them ......#spooky's soliloquies#dhmis#dhmis au#high voltage au#dhmis tony#tony the talking clock#dhmis hv tony#dhmis sketchbook#sketch the sketchpad#dhmis hv sketchbook#dhmis coffin#dhmis hv chester#i wanna talk about themmm .... give me excuses to talk about themmmm !!!!!!!#grrr !!!!!!#whining and thrashing like an upset toddler#oh yeah sketchbook uses neopronous also#never mentioned that i think#paper / paperself#:3

American education has all the downsides of standardization, none of the upsides

Catch me in Miami! I'll be at Books and Books in Coral Gables on Jan 22 at 8PM.
We moved to America in 2015, in time for my kid to start third grade. Now she's a year away from graduating high school (!) and I've had a front-row seat for the US K-12 system in a district rated as one of the best in the country. There were ups and downs, but high school has been a monster.
We're a decade and a half into the "common core" experiment in educational standardization. The majority of the country has now signed up to a standardized and rigid curriculum that treats overworked teachers as untrustworthy slackers who need to be disciplined by measuring their output through standard lessons and evaluations:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Core
This system is rigid enough, but it gets even worse at the secondary level, especially when combined with the Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which adds another layer of inflexible benchmarks to the highest-stakes, most anxiety-provoking classes in the system:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Placement
It is a system singularly lacking in grace. Ironically, this unforgiving system was sold as a way of correcting the injustice at the heart of the US public education system, which funds schools based on local taxation. That means that rich neighborhoods have better funded schools. Rather than equalizing public educational funding, the standardizers promised to ensure the quality of instruction at the worst-funded schools by measuring the educational outcomes with standard tools.
But the joke's on the middle-class families who backed standardized instruction over standardized funding. Their own kids need slack as much as anyone's, and a system that promises to put the nation's kids through the same benchmarks on the same timetable is bad for everyone:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/11/28/give-me-slack-2/
Undoing this is above my pay-grade. I've already got more causes to crusade on than I have time for. But there is a piece of tantalyzingly low-hanging fruit that is dangling right there, and even though I'm not gonna pick it, I can't get it out of my head, so I figured I'd write about it and hope I can lazyweb it into existence.
The thing is, there's a reason that standardization takes hold in so many domains. Agreeing on a common standard enables collaboration by many entities without any need for explicit agreements or coordination. The existence of the ANSI/SAE J563 standard automobile auxiliary power outlet (AKA "car cigarette lighter") didn't just allow many manufacturers to make replacement lighter plugs. The existence of a standardized receptacle delivering standardized voltage to standardized contacts let all kinds of gadgets be designed to fit in that socket.
Standards crystallize the space of all possible ways of solving a problem into a range of solutions. This inevitably has a downside, because the standardized range might not be optimal for all applications. Think of the EU's requirement for USB-C charger tips on all devices. There's a lot of reasons that manufacturers prefer different charger tips for different gadgets. Some of those reasons are bad (gouging you on replacement chargers), but some are good (unique form-factor, specific smart-charging needs). USB-C is a very flexible standard (indeed, it's so flexible that some people complain that it's not a standard at all!) but there are some applications where the optimal solution is outside its parameters.
And still, I think that the standardization on USB-C is a force for good. I have drawers full of gadgets that need proprietary charger tips, and other drawers full of chargers with proprietary tips, and damned if I can make half of them match up. We've continued our pandemic lockdown tradition of my wife cutting my hair in the back yard, and just tracking the three different charger tips for the three clippers she uses is an ongoing source of frustration. I'd happily trade slightly sub-optimal charging for just being able to plug any of those clippers into the same cable I charge my headphones, phone, tablet and laptop on.
The standardization of American education has produced all the downsides of standardization â a rigid, often suboptimal, one-size-fits-all system â without the benefits. With teachers across America teaching in lockstep, often from the same set texts (especially in the AP courses), there's a massive opportunity for a commons to go with the common core.
For example, the AP English and History classes my kid takes use standard texts that are often centuries old and hard to puzzle out. I watched my kid struggle with texts for learning about "persuasive rhetoric" like 17th century pamphlets that inspired anti-indigenous pogroms with fictional accounts of "Indian atrocities."
It's good for American schoolkids to learn about the use of these blood libels to excuse genocide, but these pamphlets are a slog. Even with glossaries in the textbooks, it's a slow, word-by-word matter to parse these out. I can't imagine anyone learning a single thing about how speech persuades people just by reading that text.
But there's nothing in the standardized curriculum that prevents teachers from adding more texts to the unit. We live in an unfortunate golden age for persuasive texts that inspire terrible deeds â for example, kids could also read core Pizzagate texts and connect the guy who shot up the pizza parlor to the racists who formed a 17th century lynchmob.
But teachers are incredibly time-constrained. For one thing, at least a third of the AP classroom time seems to be taken up with detailed instructions for writing stilted, stylized "essays" for the AP tests (these are terrible writing, but they're easy to grade in a standardized way).
That's where standardization could actually deliver some benefits. If just one teacher could produce some supplemental materials and accompanying curriculum, the existence of standards means that every other teacher could use it. What's more, any adaptations that teachers make to that unit to make them suited to their kids would also work for the other teachers in the USA. And because the instruction is so rigidly standardized, all of these materials could be keyed to metadata that precisely identified the units they belonged to.
The closest thing we have to this are "marketplaces" where teachers can sell each other their supplementary materials. As far as I can tell, the only people making real money from these marketplaces are the grifters who built them and convinced teachers to paywall the instructional materials that could otherwise form a commons.
Like I said, I've got a completely overfull plate, but if I found myself at loose ends, trying to find a project to devote the rest of my life to, I'd be pitching funders on building a national, open access portal to build an educational commons.
It may be a lot to expect teachers to master the intricacies of peer-based co-production tools like Git, but there's already a system like this that K-8 teachers across the country have mastered: Scratch. Scratch is a graphic programming environment for kids, and starting with 2019's Scratch 3.0, the primary way to access it is via an in-browser version that's hosted at scratch.mit.edu.
Scratch's online version is basically a kid- (and teacher-)friendly version of Github. Find a project you like, make a copy in your own workspace, and then mod it to suit your own needs. The system keeps track of the lineage of different projects and makes it easy for Scratch users to find, adapt, and share their own projects. The wild popularity of this system tells us that this model for a managed digital commons for an educational audience is eminently achievable.
So when students are being asked to study the rhythm of text by counting the numbers of words in the sentences of important speeches, they could supplement that very boring exercise by listening to and analyzing contemporary election speeches, or rap lyrics, or viral influencer videos. Different teachers could fork these units to swap in locally appropriate comparitors â and so could students!
Students could be given extra credit for identifying additional materials that slot into existing curricular projects â Tiktok videos, new chart-topping songs, passages from hot YA novels. These, too, could go into the commons.
This would enlist students in developing and thinking critically about their curriculum, whereas today, these activities are often off-limits to students. For example, my kid's math teachers don't hand back their quizzes after they're graded. The teachers only have one set of quizzes per unit, and letting the kids hold onto them would leak an answer-key for the next batch of test-takers.
I can't imagine learning math this way. "You got three questions wrong but I won't let you see them" is no way to help a student focus on the right areas to improve their understanding.
But there's no reason that math teachers in a commons built around the (unfortunately) rigid procession of concepts and testing couldn't generate procedural quizzes, specified with a simple programming language. These tests could even be automatically graded, and produce classroom stats on which concepts the whole class is struggling with. Each quiz would be different, but cover the same ground.
When I help my kid with her homework, we often find disorganized and scattered elements of this system â a teacher might post extensive notes on teaching a specific unit. A publisher might produce a classroom guide that connects a book to specific parts of the common core. But these are scattered across the web, and they aren't keyed to the specific, standard components of common core and AP.
This is a standardized system that is all costs, no benefits. It has no "architecture of participation" that lets teachers, students, parents, practitioners and even commercial publishers collaborate to produce a commons that all may share and improve upon.
In an ideal world, we'd get rid of standardization in education, pay teachers well, give them the additional time they needed to prepare exciting and relevant curriculum, and fund all our schools based on need, not parents' income.
But in the meanwhile, we could be making lemonade of out lemons. If we're going to have standardization, we should at least have the collaboration standards enable.

Phantom's Coffee
Enough Caffeine to Kill an Elephant Side Story
There is a lot that comes with being a ghost. Most of that is really cool superpowers. The unfortunate side effect with the whole being dead thing is that he doesn't have need for human functions or sustenance.
It had been a horrible thing to discover, really. The lack of constant need for sleep and food and drink was sometimes useful, but that came with the realization that nothing affected him.
At first, Danny and his team thought it was because he was dead. No blood flow, no working organs, no metabolism. This lead to a lot of experimentation. Drugs and alcohol had no effect, neither did poisons. He didn't get sick anymore, no matter what he did!
And then he realized that coffee didn't work.
Naturally distraught, Danny went straight to Frostbite to figure out what was going on. It's finals season, damnit! Coffee was gonna be the one thing to pull him through his studies!
"From what I can tell," the yeti explained, "your human functions have stopped. Quite the opposite, really."
Danny blinked. "But, I'm dead. Ghosts don't have working organs or stuff like that."
"Indeed, but you're only half dead."
"What difference does that make?"
Why did Frostbite now have charts, and where did they come from? "I can only guess, but when you died and brought back, the electricity jump started everything in your body. It essentially supercharged you. I can only assume that it'll die down in time to the point of non-function, but we can't know for sure."
"Wait," Danny's voice was nervous, "What does that mean?"
Frostbite took a minute to think over his words, looking for how to phrase what he wanted to say. "When you are alive, your heart beats slower than it did before your death, yes?"
"Yeah."
"That would be the effects of the ectoplasm that reanimated you. Your heart rate is slower, breathing takes a more conscious effort, your blood flow is slower, your organs are all working at half of what they used to." He took another moment of pause. "When you are dead, your heart beats faster than it did, breathing is faster, blood flow is faster, your organs are working at twice capacity."
Danny's breathing, now that he was very aware of it, picked up. "What- But that- What?!"
"With a high enough voltage, electricity kills. With a high enough concentration, ectoplasm reanimates."
"Reani- but I'm alive!"
"Indeed."
"But that doesn't make sense!"
"Doesn't it?"
"No!"
"Perhaps I should try a different phrasing." Frostbite said. "When you are Danny Fenton, you are more dead than alive in the sense that your body has been killed and not fully revived. When you are Danny Phantom, you are more alive than dead in the sense that your body was revived and not fully killed."
Danny was quiet for a moment. "Reanimated and revived aren't interchangeable, Frostbite."
"In some contexts', no. In others, they are."
"Are they here?"
A beat. "Yes."
Danny knew he was lying, but he didn't call him out on it. That was a crisis for another day, thank you very much.
So, higher metabolism for Danny Phantom, lower one for Danny Fenton. Great.
All crises pushed aside to freak out about never later, Danny's ew mission was to find out exactly how much caffeine would be required to give him the buzz of wakefulness that he was searching for.
Normally, the course of action would to be to measure how much e weighs and look up the maximum caffeine intake his body could handle. It was the first thing he tried, and it failed.
By the tried and true method of 'Fuck It, We Ball', Danny learned that he needs to have 35,000 milligrams of caffeine in a single sitting before any effect takes hold when he's drinking as Phantom.
The calculations running at a 5:1 ratio, caffeine milligrams to weight pounds, the lowest end on the scale of average weight of a small female elephant (3,175 kilos), multiplied by five gives him the 15,875 milligrams that would be enough to give him a low buzz and keep him awake for a few hours. That's enough to kill the elephants on the low end of the scale.
(Jazz vetoed any kind of caffeine that wasn't naturally occuring in chocolate when he's Danny Fenton. She said that he's already died once and that he doesn't need heart problems to kill him.)
(Danny calls bull, but he isn't willing to risk his sister's ire.)
Because he can't let finals get the best of him, Danny decided to take it a step further.
The highest end of the scale for the average weight of female elephants is 4,050 kilos, multiplied by the same five, gives 20,250 milligrams of caffeine.
Essentially, the lower end of the scale would give him the same effect as 99 (and a bit) 473 milliliter cans of Rockstar Energy Drinks in one sitting. The higher end of the scale would be 126 (and a bit) 473 milliliter cans of Rockstar Energy Drinks in one sitting.
All that was left to do, now that he has the maths for the desired effect figured out, was to mix that in his favorite drink: A Red Eye.
Truly an abomination for the ages.
After way too much brain power, Phantom's completed coffee order looks like this:
A large Red Eye with 20,250 mg of caffeine
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of honey
1/8 cup of chocolate syrup
and 3 mint leaves or 1 teaspoon of mint extract
(he added 4 shots of vodka when he turned 21)
Danny is gonna kick his finals' ass, and be hyped up on caffeine while doing it!

The Mentor and The Mirror (Homelander x Reader)
700 words, similar powers!reader, gender neutral reader.
Ask prompt: What if Homelander was "given" someone, by the higher ups of Vaught, to mentor? They have powers like his, but are a bit weaker and different. What Homelander doesn't know is that they are from the lab like him.
If he found out this person grew up like him, do you think he'd be meaner or sympathetic to them?
âSomeone could kill you with a sneeze. They really think youâre worth training?â He asks bitterly. You two have been out in this field for hours now, and heâs fucking over it.
Well, for the most part.
Thereâs something endearing and fun about teaching your pet new tricks. See, theyâd told him flat out that you were his to mentor, but all he heard was youâre his. The sentence stopped there.
Youâre a peculiar thing, equipped with all of his same abilities, except that you lack invulnerability. Youâre a liability for crime fighting, but those fucks on the board of directors already made their choice. Besides, either he trains you or Stan will be an ever present thorn in his side. Last thing he wanted was to deal with that asshole.
âWhy the fuck canât you fly yet? Just do it,â he gestures with his hand, âlike a⌠I donât know, a normal person?â
âSorry-â You blurt out, accidentally flipping upside down. âI uh, they didnât let me practice much in the rooms growing up. Ten foot ceilings, you know?â
He blinks rapidly at that, cocking his head slightly. What rooms?Â
Homelander stores that little bit of information away for later, chuckling instead as you plummet to the ground and land on your ass.
You groan pitifully. This has been absolutely awful.
âI donât think I can do itâŚâ You murmur dejectedly, sitting upright. âItâs hard.â
Now that bothers him. No student of his is going to fail and make him look bad, and youâre certainly not going to make him have another fucking meeting with Stan. He rolls his eyes in exasperation before leaning down to lift you.
âWhââ
Youâre weightless in his arms as he spins, winding up toâ
âN- NO, NO, NO!â You shout as he hurls you into the sky. You flap your arms and legs, begging your powers to work as you ascend past the clouds, further and further until the air gets thin and the world below is square patches of various greens.
âAlways gotta do these things the hard way,â Homelander muses, clicking his tongue below.
You continue falling, tears spilling as you plummet faster than you can gather yourself. You see your life flash before your eyes untilâ
Oh.
You flex your shoulders back and suck in a breath, and suddenlyâŚ
âAbout fucking time!â
Heâll never admit it, but the excitement on your face and the hug you give him makes him so fucking proud of you. Â
Later that night, he delves into your files. Madelynâs access codes still work, and he finds your full file with ease. Your record is squeaky clean. No past employment, no education, no family recordsâŚ
Thereâs nothing.Â
And thatâs how he knows.
He knows exactly what you meant earlier, and he knows exactly where you came from.
He knows because thatâs how his file looks, too.
He knows because he came from there, too.
The next day, when you excel with laser practice, heâs proud, but heâs also resentful. Youâre not just his student now; youâre him. Youâre a physical reminder of everything heâs gone through. Â
He hates you for it.
But he hurts for you, too.
It breaks his heart when you pass the medical ward and shuffle closer to him.
He used to do that, but there was never anyone walking with him.
The next time you two are out in that field, heâs much more patient despite how much it grates his nerves to watch you flounder in the air again.
He looks at you and suddenly heâs back there. Remembers when the doctors would correct his mistakes with enough electrical voltage to actually hurt him.
It always made the lights flicker. Made the room smell terribleâ all hot and rotten.
He hears Vogelbaumâs voice. Â
Not good enough, John. Do it again.
Heâs angry that you clearly werenât subjected to the same. How the fuck was that fair?
And yetâŚ
Heâs so fucking happy knowing you werenât.
If nothing else⌠they clearly didnât hurt you as much as they hurt him.
This time, when you fall, he catches you.
Just like he wished someone would have done for him.
