I'm actually so glad you talked about the timeline issue in this chapter because now I've been wondering ever since reading the chapter, what did truly happen between kamiai???

At this point since they are still together even during the murder suicide...doesn't that mean Ai already has her twins? And that Hikaru had already gone to the hospital prior with Ryosuke? Did Hikaru accept the kids then? How did he even meet a deranged the fan Ryosuke, and why? When and how did Ai reveal her pregnancy, what was his reaction...my head hurts 😭😭

Also, the cut 162 with Ai's rejection already happened...so when are we ever seeing the "I can't love you" scene anymore...

Other than that, im glad we're finally getting a father-daughter talk (that we will never know the details of, like the dvd lol)

on a more positive note tho..... god I am SO fascinated by the arc's continued paralleling of the twins to the 'opposite' parent, so to speak and I'm tentatively hopeful that the RBHK meeting means that this is something intentional. At the very least, I think it's undeniable that in the ways AQRB are paralleling the HKAI relationship, Aqua is the one in Ai's role, as the savior that Hikaru/Ruby is relying on. 143 makes this pretty explicit with Ruby describing Gorou as her 'oshi' and thus placing Aqua on the pedestal that Ai had been forced to occupy.

It's honestly kind of... refreshing! Because of Kamiki's so transparently telegraphed similarities to Aqua and Ruby's narrative role in the story as the one following Ai's footsteps, it's a really clever subversion of expectations to have them kind of swap around like that. It's also a cool parallel to Tokyo Blade, where Akane and Kana were each unintentionally paralleling the others' role as opposed to their own.

Maybe pretending to be insane wasn’t his best plan but in his defense, he’d rather die a second time than live with Vlad. He’d seen what Vlad was capable of when he had full control over him. Avoiding a second Dan, situation would be preferred, please, thanks.

No hell could ever be worse than living with that controlling fruitloop would be. Especially now that Mom and Dad were gone. Tears dripped down his cheeks , surely, if his parents knew who Vlad truly was they wouldn’t want him to stay there either. A mental hospital would be so much better for him than Vlad ever could be.

Arkham asylum, a place in New Jersey where all of Batman’s criminally insane rouges resided whenever they got caught. Vlad wouldn’t want to piss of Batman, he wouldn’t even want Batman to know of him. The hero had too many allies who dealt with the supernatural. The thought of Vlad being exorcised made him giggle uncontrollably. The guard outside his cell kicking the bars of his cell with a threat that Danny couldn’t bother listening to.

As one of the youngest inmates inside, he was mostly left alone. Danny kept to himself, keeping an eye out for any sign of Vlad’s interference while also keeping up the “grieving child, driven to insanity” act. Nobody suspected a thing, nobody important at least.

With all the horrible people who resided here Danny should’ve expected one of them to attempt to take advantage of someone perceived to be vulnerable. Unfortunately for them, Danny was more dangerous than any of them could ever dream of being.

A smile tugged on his lips as the clown made his way to Danny’s cell. Sharp fangs poking into his top lip as he kept his head hung low. Laughter facades as tears, his shoulder shaking as he heard the clown’s crowbar strike the lock of Danny’s cell door.

“Awww poor baby, Is mummy six feet under?” Joker laughed maniacally, Danny waited, dead silent, waiting for his prey to make the fatal mistake of taking one more step forward.

The moment the cell door closes Danny stands, eyes blazing a toxic green as uncontrollable laughter racked his body once again.

“I’d say you’ve made a fatal mistake but you don’t deserve the mercy of death, do you?” It was the most he’d spoken since being sent here but it seemed to unsettle the clown as he charged at Danny with a crowbar.

He didn’t even flinch as Joker used all his strength bashing Danny everywhere he could think of. The crowbar hit, breaking bones that healed before you could even tell they’d been broken.

“You know, for a clown you’re pretty dull,” Joker struck him harder.

“Just saying, you’re kind of a one trick pony,” Danny teased, ripping the crowbar out of the clowns hands with ease, standing tall as the clown pulled a gun. Danny remained expressionless as the clown shot a full round into him.

“Here,how bout I show you how to be more creative?” Danny raised the crowbar.

The entire city heard the joker scream that night.

Ok so maybe pretending to be crazy so that he didn't have to live with Vlad shouldn't have been plan A or even plan D for that matter. But.... it had worked. Danny just wondered where he was being shipped off to.
