I think hen would be awake too , and sitting with karen , pouring over documents and records, trying to find a way to get mara back. Karen knows smth is wrong the moment hen goes stiff , and she puts down the call and says in a horrorstruck voice "Athena and bobby are in the hospital."

We can assume then buck calls Eddie and hen calls chimney because they are their best friends .

Imagine Eddie knocking on the locked door of Christophers room , apologizing and begging Chris to come out and talk when buck calls. He declines it the first time , but when it rings again , Eddie knows something is wrong . He picks up , bucks voice is shaking on the other end , and Eddie slides down the door.

We know Maddie is on a shift so it must be a night shift , while chimney is alone at home with jee yun. Imagine him waking up to a call from hen and he immediately jumps up because he knows smth is wrong when she calls him so late in the night .

Imagine them all rushing to their cars , bucks hands shaking when he reaches the hospital, Eddie clutching that prayerbook , hen and chimney supporting each other . Imagine their reactions when they realise bobby big goodbye to them all , without any one realising.

Buck turned around at the familiar voice, eyebrows furrowed in confusion even as the smile grew on his face. “Wha- I thought you were in the chopper?”

Tommy shook his head. “Parker's up there today. I may have asked if I could work ground ops when I heard the 118 was responding to the call too.”

It was a pretty intense fire that started on the roof of an apartment complex. With the wind, and the closeness of nearby buildings, there was worry it would spread fast if not quickly contained.

Thankfully, everything went smoothly. The building had been cleared and the fire was out. The crews from each department were now working on getting all their gear back in order so they could leave.

A blush rose on Buck's cheeks. “And why would you do that?”

“Oh, you know,” Tommy took a step closer to Buck, “I haven't seen Howie in a few weeks so I thought I'd catch u-”

Buck reached out and gave Tommy a playful push before he could finish the sentence. “Asshole,” he muttered.

Tommy laughed, face scrunching up tight. God, Buck loved that face.

“I wanted to see you, Evan,” he admitted. “It's been almost two weeks of opposite schedules. I'm about to file a report accusing the LAFD of being homophobic for keeping us apart.”

“I'd sign my name to it,” Buck agreed.

“So, not an overreaction?”

Buck moved even closer to Tommy. “If anything we should be doing more.”

Tommy's eyes moved to Buck's lips. “Anything specific in mind?”

“Guys, I'm seriously so close to throwing up,” Chimney interrupted, carrying the ax back to the truck. “Get a room.”

“In fifteen hours we will be in a room!” Buck yelled out to him, then quietly added for only Tommy to hear, “And we will not be leaving the room for forty-eight hours.”

Tommy smirked. “What if we get hungry?”

“Our lube is edible.”

“You know, Athena and I have made out between a firetruck or two,” Bobby mentioned as he passed by, patting Buck on the shoulder. “We leave in five.”

Years ago, Bobby would have been trying to steer Buck away from inappropriate workplace behavior, and maybe he still should be, but Buck had spent his last couple shifts becoming increasingly pouty. Plus, Tommy wasn't a one night- or, better yet, a one shift- stand. They were coming up on eight months together and apparently still couldn't get enough of each other.

Tommy would have laughed at the shocked look on Evan's face, but the go ahead from Bobby was all that he needed to be grabbing Evan's hand and leading him to a space between a fire truck and an ambulance. Tommy pushed him against the ambulance, brought his hands to Buck's waist, and practically smashed their lips together. Buck moaned, happily surprised as Tommy's tongue licked into his mouth. He wrapped his arms around Tommy's shoulders, bringing him closer.

“Where were you?” Buck asked when they pulled apart for air.

“West stairwell. You?” Tommy kissed him again before he could give an answer.

“East, mmm, east stairwell,” he gasped, Tommy working his way down Buck's jaw to his neck. “God, Tommy. We just m- missed each other.”

“Hmm,” Tommy hummed against the top of his collarbone, the vibrations giving Buck chills. He had never even felt Tommy undo his turnout jacket for better access. “Seems like we did that for quite a few years.”

Tommy knew how Buck felt about all their missed connections. He'd spent so much time going over all the events throughout the years where they could have or should have met, or almost did meet. While Buck did get bummed that they didn't know each other all those years ago, the fact that they finally did meet at what seemed to be the perfect time for them both was one of his biggest turn ons.

He reached up and got ahold of Tommy's face, bringing him back to his lips. “I love you... so much,” he mumbled out between kisses.

“I love... you more.”

“Amazing what you can see when you've got a bird's eye view,” a voice rang out over the radio. Tommy pulled back from their kiss, and they both looked up at the chopper hovering above them, giving a wave. “Parker will never let me hear the end of this,” Tommy laughed out.

A few seconds passed before Parker got back on the radio. “Oh, don't you worry about that,” he said, laughter evident in his voice. The helicopter began to move away from above them. “Pilot Parker heading back to Harbor Station.”

Buck was starting to lean back in when the radio came to life again.

“Captain Nash to Buckley, we're heading out in one minute. I repeat, heading out in one minute.”

“Got it, Cap,” Buck answered. “On my way.”

Tommy sighed, gazing deeply into Evan's eyes. “I'll see you soon, okay? Be safe.”

“Fifteen hours?”

Tommy ran his hands up and down Evan's waist, pressing a final kiss to his lips before they had to part ways. “Fifteen hours.”

Give me a two episode disaster arc where Tommy and Bobby are stuck somewhere awaiting rescue, tbh.

Give me Tommy with a big ole bump on his noggin and Bobby trying to keep him awake. Tommy admitting he's pissed at Bobby because he left his family and they got Gerrard out of it and he can feel that casually cruel attitude creeping back under his skin every time he hears a story about the shit Gerrard puts the team through. Tommy telling Bobby that when he pulled him into the office that day and silently slid the recertification paperwork for piloting across the desk, something had rattled loose in Tommy and he'd realized that the better person he was trying to to be wasn't going to be the best version of himself until he made a change and stopped letting the ghosts of his father and his superior officers and his captain haunt him.

Tommy reminding him that Bobby means the world to the 118, that they'd flown into a hurricane to find and save him, that for all that Tommy hadn't worked with him for long he'd always had Tommy's respect, but now Tommy is grateful for him, because Buck and Eddie and Chim and Hen have had him. Because he'd fostered a group that has pulled him into their ranks without question.

Give me Bobby panicking a bit when Tommy loses consciousness, because he's pinned and too far away to actually wake Tommy back up. Give me Bobby talking to him anyway, admitting that he's scared, that he's pretty sure his team has grown past him, that he's not needed anymore and he doesn't know where to go from there. He'd thrown out his book and thrown in with his team and now he's not sure what his purpose is when they don't need him anymore.

Give me Bobby getting frustrated and ANNOYED and yelling at Tommy to wake the fuck up and help him get them both the hell out of there.

Give me just the slightest hint of Bobby saying some Out Of Pocket Shit about how gone on Tommy Buck is and only finding out a week later that Tommy had heard that bit.

What fic tropes do you most want to see for bucktommy?

big fan of hurt/comfort and some angst, which i think we will get.

i want them to be settled in their relationship and be solid and be each other's home, and then comes the angst, but not in a way that threatens their relationship, more like: one of them gets hurt on the job for physical hurt/comfort - i would love to see tommy get hurt actually, and buck stays at his place to take care of him; proof that this capable brickhouse of a guy is not invincible. and he struggles to let himself be taken care of, and evan helps him realise that he has people who care about him - not just buck; maybe eddie visits! chim! hen! he's been on his own for so long he's quite self sufficient but buck isn't having it; this allows for some first fight potential, where tommy insists he can do it himself (bc he doesn't want to be a burden or seem weak) and buck being frustrated and a little hurt that tommy doesn't want him in his space or want his help, which makes buck feel like he's being too much and caring too much.. but they work it out! but maybe before they do we get chim/hen/eddie paying tommy a visit to check on him but moreover spend time with him and also talk things out a bit; tommy realising it's okay to let people in (chim would be perfect for this callback).

and tommy dealing with his asshole father for some emotional hurt/comfort - i just really want to see a less coolcalmcollected tommy, and i think buck seeing that and being there for him and tommy realising he has someone to lean on will strengthen their relationship.

and early season 8 with gerrard in charge is perfect for some emotional support and understanding: tommy being there for buck as he vents. and tommy confronting gerrard (not just about his treatment of evan and the 118 but about who he is and how he does not deserve to be a captain at all) which doesn't go well and brings up a lot of issues for tommy (his past self, his father and upbringing, etc) and results in him being riled and losing some of that cool calm composure buck is so used to - maybe we get buck finding tommy at the gym, or tommy and eddie doing muay thai because tommy needs the release. and eventually we get buck calming him down or tommy running out of steam and breaking down a little.

(this is all very tommy-centric i know, i just want more of him! more screentime! more emotional variation! more character and relationship growth!)

and as much as i want them to be a solid couple, i want there to be moments of uncertainty: jealous buck when he sees tommy is friendly with one of his exes or sees a guy flirting with tommy. tommy being so sure about a future with evan -has never been more sure of anyone in his life- but holding himself back because he doesn't want to move too fast for both their sakes - but he opens up by the end of the ep and it culminates in him asking evan to move in with him.

open and honest communication is integral to their relationship so i don't really want to see any secret keeping, but i could see one of them keeping a secret about the gerrard/ortiz drama to spare the other one worry or to keep them out of the crosshairs. but it won't be a lingering issue, preferably sorted in an ep or two.

also just: gimme friendship for tommy! gimme tommy and chim and hen and eddie hanging out (separately or together) because we know they're friends. gimme tommy and karen, tommy and maddie brunch dates - with jee! gimme tommy babysitting jee and the others! would also love to see some of tommy's coworkers and friends. basically let tommy have some platonic relationships because it's important to show he has a place in the 118 extended family even when evan isn't in the mix, and that he has a life outside the 118 too.

since tommy is a first responder i think it's a safe bet we'll see him working with the 118 at some point - lafd is linked from the streets to the skies - maybe buck doing a rope rescue out of the chopper or tommy rescuing buck and some civilians from a cliffside or highrise. maybe the 118 responding to a chopper crash. so many scenarios they could give us, and i want tommy working with the rest of the 118, too.

Now that I'm thinking about it I wanna theorize/call for action outside of buddie (don't worry i WILL return with a vengeance) but now I'm on a bit of an Eddie Diaz kind of run.

I'm reading a fanfic now of Eddie's sisters which kind of spawned me to think about his relationship with them and kind of think about his family dynamics and expectations and what's coming up for his storyline.

Now they mentioned bringing his family in, specifically his sisters, and i think this storyline ties into Marisol (noname i swear this drives me crazy when i think about it?!??! PLEASE if you want me to care/be invested gimme a last name!) and his Catholic guilt/sense of responsibility/man of the house complex.

They've introduced how his upbringing brought him a lot of guilt and a sense of duty (to serve and protect amirite? Dang religion can be a perfect line to how modern society works but lemme save that for a thesis or something this is about 911 on abc🤣)

Back on topic though, there's a really nice post talking about how he's military family and how that affected his and Shannon's relationship. (x)

Yes i do ship buddie, but if I look at it not just as a romantic things but as they are written as kind of parallel soulmates who run along the same line of development.

One always spurs the next to grow and change and are heavily involved in some way even if that way it's just being themselves.

Buck being open with his sexuality will trigger something in Eddie. What it is can vary.

I think if we look at it with non shipper glasses, Buck's freedom will lead to Eddie's freedom. What I mean by that is since Eddie had came to the 118 Ryan mentioned how each year he was there the more he learned about himself and other people.

I think what Eddie would be at free from the image/expectations of what a family should look like/be.

He knows what a family could look like in a queer/unconventional way. Bathena's unit, Chimney and Maddie's family (let's say cause they're not currently married with a toddler church would pass out), and HenRen's family.

The could be and should be is the important part.

Eddie grew up being told what he should be and what his life should look like. Evidently his life went none of the ways it was intended to go.

He's a widower single father from a teen/young pregnancy and veteran. Sure he's a firefighter now but he has no "complete" family.

The way they're emphasizing the mother aspect throughout his story is still fascinating.

(i also thought of something hilarious as like he probably imagined/process mothers as like the Virgin Mary or something when they brought up how he can see woman as mothers but not really women at the same time)

(also Madonna whore complex was mentioned and it's also a fascinating way to look at it as he can either desire or love.)

Shannon seems to be the only exception and even that is iffy. I would also say that when she became a mother the desire kind of left? I think the mother aspect solidified for him when she left them I would say.

Yes they did have sex but that was a (very bad, horrid) form of communication between them. They both avoided stuff at some point in some (eh it's like 20/80 her and Eddie) cases.

Every other woman he has dated has kind of been a substitute, for a lack of a better word, replacement for the role of mom.

Now he knows what moms should look like in all shapes and forms. He knows what dads should look like. He's knows what his family should look like.

Granted he did get rid of some of the flaws of his father and the way he was raised which also ties into the way he is.

Eddie was parentified at an early age. (I will say as a black/poc person that there tends to be adult responsibilities placed on our communities kids from young partially because of culture but mostly because of the inherent unevenness that we have to struggle to make balance worldwide in different facets and environments.)

Once again, this is about 911 on abc, not my thesis😭.

I just imagine him standing on a stool to cook food for his sisters or some other things like laundry. Or even worse the cannon car accident with his pregnant mom. (I love to make myself cry)

Eddie had technically been a parent since he was a kid. He literally became the man of the house or the father. So i guess that entailed taking on the emotional and sometimes physical burden of the father role.

I guess when he was actually a father and not just the role he felt the weight of responsibility again and panicked. It makes sense he has a habit of running since he never had the opportunity to do so as a kid (since he never got the chance to be one).

So after Chris it was once again role of the father but now with added responsibility of bringing money to provide the household which he didn't have to do in that role.

It was hard then so it became even more difficult.

So he gave his body to the military and returned wounded in mind and body, and with a disabled son who needed insurance and stability and a wife who just needed him.

And he needed to be a man. Again and again and again.

He broke out of the loop when he got to the 118 (bless the haven that is that building) met Buck, then Carla and Bobby who offered a safe place for his kid.

He was no longer alone and had distanced himself physical from the church but mentally still shackled in his beliefs.

After this Buck and Tommy things and he's not present we're going to focus on how a family could look for him.

Last season and recently they mentioned the fact that his aunt had been divorced and he didn't know.

There was also mention of family secrets.

There was also Marisol and Chris together which I'm guessing he wasn't to happy with her but it's either or since we haven't seen them together so it's a 50/50 chance. More like 90/10 he's annoyed or feels weird about his mom being replaced). Since we touched on him repairing his relationship with his mom and subsequently girls and women/relationships he wants to be in now that may shift his image of Marisol suddenly being more present.

Slight Buddie tangent (i gotta let the beat out for a sec raaa-) but the fact that he's still hanging out with Buck pretty consistently (well we can say he's his other parent who's sadly been in his life almost longer than his mom 🥺 lemme stop I'm crying) but it might decrease due to his and Tommy's relationship. (They're two firefighters with very busy schedules ofc he's not present they got work to do chop chop!/j)

In turn this leaves Chris with one less stable parent figure and it's forced to turn to Marisol who may be overeager to please him.

This can lead Chris to probably feeling uncomfortable with the changes because he's happy his dad's happy but he's not happy because it feels like his family's changing again too fast, and what if she leaves then his dad's not happy and a whole other sleet of teenage issues and angst.

So what I predict their storyline to be going it's that Eddie tries to find his own freedom from the church and maybe even the expectations of his home community would have on him.

Buck will be radiant in himself at the wedding, so will Hen and Karen, and Marie and Chimney, and Bobby and Athena.

He'll look around and look inward.

He'll stop focusing on what his life should look like and focus on what it could.

And that life could be just as radiant as the family he's apart of now.

I find Oliver promoting this new girl interesting. Firstly because he never promotes Taylor centric episodes.. I firmly believe if Taylor and Buck aren't end game there really arent any new female love interests coming. I'm not worried about that at all. Like you invested 2 seasons into 2 LIs that fizzled out you know.

So I wonder what about her makes her interesting enough for Oliver to promote when he has a clear promoting game and its always Buddie centric. I won't hang my hat on anything because the hostage situation I got so wrong. But damn would I be excited to see Eddie go crazy if he had to see on TV any sort of crazy rescue when these 2 work together.

I agree. I believe it was the wonderful and ultimate Oli girl @loveyourownsmiilee who first pointed out Oli's promoting patterns, right? And that he never promoted Taylor-centric episodes. I'm so glad we're all agreed that this is telling! And yes, I very much doubt Buck will be jumping from one LI to the next. They kinda, kinda already went there with 207, when Buck had to choose between two barely-there LIs (Taylor and Ali), and even then it was mainly a hopping from the former to the latter to emphasize that he's CHOOSING to be Buck 2.0, that it wasn't just dating Abby which changed him. So I can't see them letting him hop again right away from Taylor to another random LI. But honestly, who could they bring in that would manage to be more developed than Taylor and Ana without still time away from the ensemble, and while leaving room for Buddifer scenes, AND take its time building up to it properly? Honestly, nothing fits anymore other than Buddie.

And yes, I'm glad we're not delving too much into speculation, I honestly believe that makes for a more pleasurable viewing experience at the end of the day! It could be Oli is promoting her 'coz he's excited, could be because she is someone who helps Buddie progress. I would love that, but TBH, at this point, if we get a satisfying resolution to all the awkwardness of the B/T relationship so I never have to see Buck grim like that while throwing out, "Good... Love you, too" then I'll take it! I'm a simple girl, I have simple needs. Gimme that and Eddie returning to the 118, and all will be right with the world. Though TBH, I also can't see Eddie returning without any Buddie content as that unfolds...

“I’m not drunk.”

Maddie’s a little bit drunk.

She can’t remember the last time she was, and she’s been having fun because Buck invited her to a 118 hangout at a bar and it helps that her current best friend is there too.

Chim smiles, taking a sip of his beer. “Ehh I’d say you are. Just a little.”

Maddie frowns, hating that when she turns her head too fast the world sort of spins. It helps though that she’s turned her head to look at Chim who is so handsome and lovely and the drunk little voice inside Maddie’s head is telling her to run her hands through his soft looking hair.

She’s gonna ignore that.

“Chim,” she says in the most serious voice a drunk person can muster. “Gimme your hand.”

He raises a brow but doesn’t question it, holding up his hand in front of her.

Maddie eyes it with the upmost scrutiny for a moment before placing her own up against it gently.

“Oh my-“ Maddie snorts. “Oooooh my god. Look at how.” She giggles. “Look at how teeny tiny my hands are compared to yours.”

Chim’s the perfect gentleman, allowing Maddie to laugh her ass off as he watches her with a gentle expression.

“Like I just-wow, ya know!” His hand is rougher than hers, more calloused, but his palm is soft and warm and it makes Maddie think thoughts. His fingers are longer than hers too, which was to be suspected, and Maddie’s eyes widen in a realization.

“Piano!”

“Huh?”

“You would be GREAT at playing piano. Cause your fingers are so long. You could hit all the keys, plunk plunk plunk.” She mimes playing a piano with her other hand and how Chim manages to hold back his laughter is a mystery.

She links their fingers together, and she thinks she might see Chim blush a little, but she can’t exactly tell in the dim bar light.

“Your hand could just like....totally cover mine. So big. So strong.” Maddie’s starting to get a little dreamy eyed as she gazes at their hands together, and she’s leaning in so close that for a second Chim’s worried she might fall off her stool. She’s dangerously close to doing so when ‘I Want It That Way’ starts playing, and she lets go of Chim’s hand, tipping herself backwards in drunken excitement.

“OH MY GOD oh my god this-“ Chim saves her from falling off her chair, hand catching her elbow and putting her back to sitting up straight. Maddie doesn’t even notice. “-this is mine and Buck’s song this is one of our songs.”

She hops off the stool, taking her drink with her as she heads over to where ever Buck is, and Chim just smiles, watching her go.

He’s taking another sip of his drink when Hen slides up next to him.

“Well, you know what they say about guys with big hands.”

Chim sprays his drink all over his shirt.

So yeah , buck and hen does get the calls. Eddie is with buck at the time and hen is with madney . Chris is going away to Texas and mara is not leaving , judging by henrens happy face , so the problems in their personal lives are solved one way or other when they get the call. We see Eddie is indeed clutching the prayer book and praying beside bobby with buck sitting with him . In the stills we see chimney standing outside the room to give Eddie and buck space to pray for bobby , AND THE PARRALELL OF BOBBY PRAYING BESIDE BUCKS BED AND BUCK AND EDDIE ORAYING BESIDE BOBBYS BED IS PROBABLY GONNA END ME UP IN A HOSPITAL BED TOO

Buck is supposed to be with tommy at the time . Imagine them kissing when bucks phone rings . He picks it up , replies, then falls down on the couch in shock . Tommy takes the phone from his hands and finishes the conversation because buck is in too much shock to speak.

I think hen would be awake too , and sitting with karen , pouring over documents and records, trying to find a way to get mara back. She picks up the call absent mindedly , hands still rifling through pages when they freeze. Karen knows smth is wrong the moment hen goes stiff , and she puts down the call and says in a horrorstruck voice "Athena and bobby are in the hospital."

We can assume then buck calls Eddie and hen calls chimney because they are their best friends .

Imagine Eddie knocking on the locked door of Christophers room , apologizing and begging Chris to come out and talk when buck calls. He declines it the first time , but when it rings again , Eddie knows something is wrong . He picks up , bucks voice is shaking on the other end , and Eddie slides down the door.
