Wrote this once already but Tumblr deleted in when I breifly windowed the app, man is everything working against me getting this out

Probably not worth whatever hype the wait gave you, but I tried

Now to the meat of my notes!

A comparison with the original is the first thing I'll do

Color choices -

Maroon for the skin and much more defined black and white for the clothes. This was done to make a more prominent difference between clothing and the rest of it, to add something of a feel of uniform (it may not make sense to you, but it does to me)

In the new one, I made DDL entirely out of black and white. This ties into a design I do for a lot of the hosts, especially ones that aren't animated using assets. It's to make him more casual while also being more inhuman. With less identifiable features, the goal is to make his presence odder and less human

Hair -

In the original, I made it more realistic, and it was basically just what first came to mind. I'm honestly not sure WHY I did it like that. The two lines are to make it clear it's hair, and add the idea it's slicked back

In the new design, I made his hair protrusion thingy both longer and gave it less height. Most of that is me drawing it from what I remembered of the design, not what it actually was. I gave the ponytail a much less realistic gravity, and no hairtie to add onto the minimalism in detail

Pretty much the only thing I think I did decently here

I know Sacri already made her a human design, but I wanted to put my own spin on it, and I didn't want to have to make her bit too much of a big deal

Yes, her hair would've had to braids at the beginning of the series, and one of her chocolates being broken was replaced in my mind for her hair being chopped off

Necklaces are to represent that little circle thing on her wrapper, and the skirt is to represent that frilly crease thing

Her shirt was probably torn and repaired, and she just doesn't care enough to replace it, that's my take on the wrapper being ripped

"What's th'big spoon thing for.. 's that some joke from Aizen I dunno about? --Or ya use it ta catch bugs 'r somethin'.." It certainly reflects the moonlight, kind of like a beacon insects would be attracted to.. But it seems impractical to Renji. He has to be chastised constantly for getting rid of his uniform himself, he hates it. And even now he is wearing only the hakama their shinigami overlords provided him with and nothing else. The only thing they introduced him to that he kind of appreciates is hairties. ((arrancar!Renji :3))

It wasn't often he was treated this casually. More or less the only person who spoke to him was Tesla, and he never did so in this kind of tone. This Arrancar was a bit of a miss-fit, Nnoitra thought. It didn't seem like he was settling in well within Aizen's ranks. Who the fuck could blame him? It was not a criticism. If anything, it was a compliment.

The rattling of Santa Teresa's chain and his bracelets was an audible cue, but he wanted a visual one as well. He also knew his silhouette was not the most intimidating one, since he was so thin. The big spoon-hood definitely pulled attention away from that.

He liked wearing his uniform, and especially the pants and boots. They were so comfortable ( and made his legs look a lot less skinny ). He was pretty sure it was the opposite for the other Arrancar, who seemed to have an aversion to clothes. Again, not a bad thing. It wasn't natural for HOLLOWS to wear clothes anyway. They were animals, in the end.

thinking soft thoughts about braiding the boys hair , just relaxing together , sharing space doing your own things while taking turns getting little braids or buns or whatever they'll let you do to their hair bc everyone's bored (and possibly drunk and/or stoned already) . just . soft domestic friend stuff

That would be such a dream,,, like absentmindedly playing with Josh's curls, half giving him a scalp massage and Sammy flops on the couch next to you and say "can I be next? Pleassse?" "Yeah Sammy, gimme one more minute."

And while you're playing with his you finish with braiding it into two braids. And Jake glances over and says "Can I get one of those?" "Of course, you got a hairtie?" And Danny offers the one he always has on his finger "You can use mine, as long as I get my hair played with eventually, too." And the two of you laugh.

Everyone is mostly chill about the rat besides the implications of what it being there means except for Taako who absolutely hates the small fuzzy guy and swears the rat has a grudge against him and has sworn war against him because before they started feeding the rat it got into his kitchen and ate over half of this supply of fancy grain he was planning to use for a new experimental dish.

No one takes it too seriously no matter how much Taako swore it had been giving him the evil eye or whatever.

Magnuson babies the rat, which is never named cause they can't unanimously decide what to name it, and does his best to feed him a comically tiny wedge of dried fruit while cooing over him. Taako walks in to see this. Turns right around and leaves.

Taako is very betrayed when he walks in on Lup trying to get it to play with a toy. Lup talks him into giving the rat a chance. He reluctantly agrees because the robot cycle wasn't too long ago and he maybe still feels just the tiniest bit bad for that. She passes him the toy she made and he gives it a shot, half heartedly dangling it in front of the rat. He even ignores what he is pretty sure is one of HIS hairties holding the toy together just because he's nice and shit. The rat ignores it to grab a a couple of his long hairs, being loose due to his lack of hair tie and tug before retreating into his little nest with his prize. Lup laughs. Taako is mildly injured and mortally offended. Lup doesn't stop laughing. He takes his hair tie back and leaves.

Blah blah blah more hijinx ensue.

He never reconciles with the rat. He does respect the little hellion though.

A century or so later Taako (and Kravitz) get pet cats at least partially out of spite.

I feel like no one remembers that there was canonically a pet cat on the star blaster that they kept until it died of old age cause it didn’t reset with them. I feel that this is important and unadressed.
