Just imagine that somehow, by some horrific fluke of luck, Gideon actually managed to become the third Elden Lord and Marika's new consort.

The Lands Between would become the most invasive magical surveillance state you can picture overnight.

The scarabs, spies of Gideon, now swarm thickly through the air over all of the land, sometimes even blocking out the rays of gold from above, always listening and reporting back to him.

The beetles are not the only spies. Peoples' bodies betray themselves. Through the cruel work of a rune of mending embedded in the Elden Ring, souls returned to the erdtree are reborn with extra mouths upon their brow which whisper the innermost thoughts of the mind aloud. Gideon says that all knowledge must be shared, even secrets. Especially secrets.

Those whose thoughts prove they remain loyal are met with ongoing clemency. Those harbouring contempt are dispatched swiftly.

The servants of Gideon are everywhere. Once powerful warriors, now unthinking puppets, born of a potion taken by Gideon from a foul sorceror. His step-children, loyal to him for his perceived kindnesses, mercy, and wisdom, ironically ignorant of the true nature of the All-Knowing.

Worst of all are his demi-god children, the house of Ofnir. They are the result of his union with the husk of Marika and are thus crumbling and hollow as she is, vessels to be filled with Gideon's will. Hunched creatures, wizened before their time, their dry flesh is thick with eyes and ears. They are three, named Gibor, Gilad and Gillam. Physically the weakest and frailest of all the demi-gods, they strike as one with all manner of incantation and spell from behind the shieldwalls of the All-Knowing's armies.

As Elden Lord, Gideon strives for omniscience. Through it, he will achieve control. Nothing is outside of his notice, nothing is outside of his reach. Once all who oppose him are dealt with, the only ones who remain will be spies, puppets and the loyal, adoring children of the House of Ofnir. Once all are within his control, he can hold the world in static form and end the rise of all new knowledge, ensuring that all that there is to be known is known by him, his perfect form of order.

A love letter to the dualities of human relationships

This book was not what I anticipated and I mean that in the very best of ways. As someone who enjoys a good love story and as a former aspiring publicist, this book caught my eye as an “easy read” and I couldn’t be happier to have been proven wrong. I laughed and cried and contemplated throughout this short but bittersweet journey through the dualities of human relationships, ranging from friendship to familial to romantic, including the complex spectrum of experience that comes with those relationships: love and loss, hurt and forgiveness, grief and growth, and all the nuances in between. As someone who likes my characters imperfect with room to grow throughout their journey, Jack and Andie were delightfully “human” and I found myself rooting for them throughout. I can’t wait to read more books by Bianca going forward.

31 Scary Movies in March Day Nineteen: SuperHost

Another movie that features characters who have a career in online influencing. (The couple in this film are YouTubers.) Boyfriend and girlfriend, Teddy and Claire, have a struggling youtube travel blog where they go to Airbnb's and review them together.

They're both hoping the trip will be good for them for different reasons. Claire is hoping to gain some traction back for their channel from these videos. And Teddy is hoping that he will get the chance to present Claire with an engagement ring. So technically, they both are looking for engagement.

Then you have the Superhost of the house they're staying at. Rebecca is a quirky, unnerving hostess who gets weirder and weirder as the movie progresses.

This film is definitely sinister at points, and things only rack up from there. Upon a second watch, I still really like the movie. Especially Gracie Gillam's electric depiction of Rebecca. It's really worth the watch!

With people shipping Ruby Gillam and Chelsea ever since the first trail came out and with it being Pride Month, it felt like the right time to make this collage. I did a poll on what their ship title should be, Meraken, Rubsea, ChelRuby or Krakmaid, and Meraken got the most votes.

From what I can tell from resent trailers and clips, Chelsea will be pretending to be Ruby's friend in order to steal the Kraken Queen's Trident, and there have been people who are hoping that these two will be friends for real. With Krakens and Mermaids as enemies and if someone were to rewrite the film (before it comes out), it would make a pretty good forbitten friendship story. As the creators of How to Train Your Dragon are some of the talented people who are making Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
