1. A selection of movies I rewatched so many times I wore out the VHS tapes. The Terminator 1984 (when T2 came Linda Hamilton blew me away), Platoon 1986, Aliens 1986 & Die Hard 1988. It's a lot of bonding strangers to survive, h/c, antiheroes or plain charismatic bad guys, hypothermia or fever, there was only one bed and bantering. The original wet rat blorbos. Also if it's not bloody obvious I had such crushes on Bruce Willis ,Tom Berenger and Michael Biehn, I watched so many bad 80s-90s movies because of them.

2. Wait a minute, TV shows, not MOVIES. My bad, I'm keeping nr 1 as is anyway. Hmm, I always list Hannibal or Buffy tVS/Angel tS whenever I do this so I'm gonna try to list something else that's major loves. So, Miami Vice 1984-1989. Baby me had such a crush on Don Johnson you could see it from space. Adult me gets it, bought the box & rewatches it from time to time, incl writing fic but never anything going somewhere.

3. The Expanse. It's probably a very obvious choice if you ever looked around my corner of Tumblr but I want more people to post about it so. Amos (my favorite pansexual murderbear), Holden (who gave me the Captaincy? Holy shit. How can I fix everything while also being stubborn and chaotic) Naomi (I live with my choices every day but I've got a new life here to do something with & I'll defend it with everything). OT3. Sometimes I want something of poly where Naomi & Drummer (dragon in the shape of a woman, a hoarding underdog with so much fight in her belly) gets to be happy too. But that's just to name a few, it's not often I'm so very invested in so many characters in a show but they all have arcs and space to exist. Unfortunately one of the mains isn't clicking with me at all so the first season took me a while to find all the gold.

4. 9-1-1; besides the love I have for the firefam I'm completely sucked into the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one. And the sunshine one is a golden retriever who's loyal to a fault and just needs food and love. While the grumpy one finds that letting the sunshine in makes life a helluva lot easier even if both of them almost dies a lot.

5. Hawaii 5-0. Talking about grumpy and sunshine. These two fit the bill too, they just can't decide who's who depending on the day and the drama. Danny's usually the negative one always predicting chaos. But Steve tends to be tortured or have shitty family secrets so his sunshine isn't that shiny all the time. But they're brilliant at bickering about everything which kinda gets them even. Instead they're great at hugs and saying I love you. I despise several plotlines but I can't quit them (I couldn't find a gif that includes Danny saying "Stop looking at me like that" in this scene but alas)

6. Stargate Atlantis, my first team turned into family, and my one and only OT4. McShep was my biggest fave, but i enjoyed team!fic just as much as OT4 fic. Reluctant leader with slinky hips and no self-preservation, paired with a smartass with a big mouth who always came through, a smarter woman who didn't get to kick people in the balls enough and stoic warrior who actually was the puzzle piece missing and more than meets the eye. They're a comfort fandom.

7. Due South. A weird cute soft series I didn't know had a fandom until after it was finished in early 2000s. And then I fell into fic (I never got to see the Ray wars up close luckily) and read so much by Speranza among many more. I've rewatched it a few times, esp if I'm home sick it's a comfort show.

I ran out of allowed gifs😭. Well, fuck.

8. Criminal Minds. I've rewatched this show many times because it's something about catching the bad guys and solving the case all neatly tied up. Another show I love but is even sadder and more horrible is Oz because happy ends doesn't exist because humanity is rotten and we pay for our choices. But it's so good I sometimes wanna rewatch it, I bought the DVD box. But then I remember how much I cried at certain eps, like the brothers and I don't. But sometimes it's good to cry over fictional characters.

GIF GENERATION AND OPTIMIZATION

Tool type: Command Line tool

Operating systems: Mac, Windows, and Linux

Difficulty: Moderate to Advanced

Input: Video files (any video file format).

Installation

I recommend you install via Homebrew if you're on Mac or Linux by pasting this into your terminal (if/once Homebrew is installed):

brew install ffmpeg

Windows users or other users who don't want Homebrew can follow directions on the FFMPEG website.

Converting one video file to GIF

In your system shell (Powershell on Windows, Terminal on Mac) change directories to the location containing your MP4 file (or whatever video file type you have—just replace .mp4 in the script with .mkv or whatever extension you have). Use this command:

cd FilePathToYourMP4 ffmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -filter_complex "fps=18,smartblur=ls=-0.25,scale=540:-1:flags=lanczos,split [a][b];[a] palettegen=stats_mode=single [p];[b][p] paletteuse=new=1" output.gif

Explaining and altering the script

The script does the following to your the clip you want to turn into a GIF, input.mp4:

Generate a gif with 20 frames per second (fps=18 controls frames per second. Change the number to changes the FPS).

Sharpen each frame (smartblur=ls=-0.25 controls sharpening. Negative values between -1 and 0 sharpen the image).

Scale every frame in the gif down to a 500 pixels using the lanczos technique. (scale=540 controls scale. Change 500 to different numbers to scale up and down)

Generate a custom color pallet for every frame and overlay it on your gif as a filter (split [a][b];[a] palettegen=stats_mode=single [p];[b][p] paletteuse=new=1)

Generates and saves the resulting gif under the name output.gif.

NOTE: Video files inputs don't have to be .mp4. You can use .mkv, .mov, or any other video type.

Converting a folder of video files to GIF

Place all of your video clips into a folder called gifset1. Put an empty subfolder inside the gifset1 folder called gifs. Go to your system shell and copy and paste the following indented text:

Mac and Linux users:

Once the process is finished running (your shell prompt will reappear allowing you to type in commands again) if you go to to the gifs subfolder in your gifset1 folder, you will find an optimized gif of every video file has been rendered.

Does this script run slowly for you?

The Palletegen function of this script may take a long time to run on certain computers. There is a faster script here you can try for very similar results.

Sí lo sé, llego un día tarde, pero ¿Vale más tarde que nunca verdad?. No me puedo creer que ya tenga un año Encanto, parece que fue ayer cuando la vi, sinceramente la primera vez que Disney la anuncio, no me convencía mucho, pero madre mía estaba muy equivocada, al final cuando la vi la noche del 31 de Diciembre, me gustaba, aunque como era muy tarde, como que eran las 3 y algo de la madrugada XD, la termine el 1 de Enero, y DIOS, me encantó, las canciones, los personajes, TODO. La animación estaba INCREÍBLE :0. Los personajes que me gustaron fueron Pepa y su hijo pequeño Antonio. Pepa me recordó mucho a mi tía cuando vi su escena de cuando era de mañana y ella tenía una nube en la cabeza y luego se le desapareció cuando tomo un sorbo de su café XD, mi tía es igual, no hay quién le hable a las mañanas antes de su cafecito lol. Yes I know, I’m one day late, but ¿Is better later than never right? I can’t believe that Encanto is already 1 year old, it feels like yesterday when I first saw it, to be honest, te first that Disney announced Encanto, it didn’t convinced me at all, but I was really wrong, in the when I saw on the night of the 31st of December, I was liking it, even tho it was really dang late, it was like 3am something XD, I finished it on the 1st of January, and GOD, I really loved it, the songs, the characters, EVERYTHING. The animation was AMAZING :0. The characters wich I loved the most, were Pepa and her youngest son Antonio. Pepa reminded me of my aunt, when I saw the scene where she comes with a cup of coffe, with a cloud above her head, but then the cloud dissapears the moment Pepa takes a sip on her morning coffe XD, my aunt is the same, you CANNOT talk to her in the mornings till she has her morning coffe, cause she’s really grumpy in the mornings lol. And Antonio is also my fav cause, he also likes animals like me ^u^. Once again, HAPPY (LATE) 1ST ANNIVERSARY TO ENCANTO :D

Now we’ll change the animation speed and add loop to the animation.

So you need to view it quickly after loading/reloading in Chrome. Note that it does not have loop at this stage and might be animating very fast. View the animated gif in Chrome and see how it is animating. Now save the animation1.gif by clicking “File” > “Save”. If needed fix the order by dragging these thumbnails.

Como criar seu próprio gif.

antes de começarmos, o que eu vou ensinar é a criar gifs através de brushes ou algum png que vocês tenham. vocês podem ver dois exemplos: aqui e aqui. NÃO é sobre ensinar a colocar gif na capa ou recortar, é sobre fazer as coisinhas mexerem -q.

uma coisa muito importante que eu esqueci de colocar, mas to editando agora: vejam o tutorial de como inserir um gif na capa, foi feito por @vjzip. é importante que vejam porque a timeline tá mais bem explicada por lá. ♡

antes de começarmos, devo dar uma dica: antes de começarem a fazer os gifs, sua capa deve estar pronta, assim dificulta bugs dentro dos gifs, ok?

primeiro passo: 

criem uma camada nova e coloquem o brush (ou imagem) que você querem que seja o seu gif. no meu caso, eu escolhi essas estrelinhas: (NÃO SE ESQUEÇAM DE COLOCAR NUMA CAMADA NOVA)

agora eu vou fazer o seguinte: vou duplicar a camada da estrelinha (você pode apertar control + j que também funciona). minhas camadas ficaram assim:

passo dois:

desabilite o olho da primeira camada (clique no olho que aparece no canto esquerdo) e selecione a camada de cima. agora aperte control + t (sua imagem ficará com uma borda azul em volta), clique com o botão direito em cima da imagem e escolha a opção deformar. como na imagem abaixo:

agora a sua imagem irá ficar cheia de bolinhas em volta, desse jeito:

tudo o que você precisa fazer é mover essas bolinhas do jeito que quiser. uma dica que eu dou é: não mova demais, ainda mais se você quiser que o gif seja sutil. por exemplo, eu deixei as minhas assim:

terminou? aperta enter! se você quiser, pode duplicar essa camada e repetir o processo, mas só se você quiser que o seu gif tenha mais de duas camadas, ok?

parte três:

lá na parte de cima do photoshop, onde fica as opções arquivo, editar e por aí vai, clica em janela e seleciona linha do tempo. vai abrir essa janelinha:

é nela que toda a magia do gif acontece! tá vendo esse quadradinho, na imagem acima, com um botão e um + no meio (ao lado da lixeira)? clica nele. se você perceber, uma camada idêntica foi criada ao lado da 1, certo? bom, selecione a camada NÚMERO 1 nesse painel.

agora, lá nas camadas da sua capa, habilita o olho da primeira camada e desabilita o olho da segunda camada, assim:

agora volta pro painel da linha do tempo e clica na camada NÚMERO 2. como você habilitou o olho na primeira camada, todas as outras camadas vão repetir o que você colocar nela, por isso que, ao selecionar a segunda camada na linha do tempo, você precisa entrar nas camadas da sua capa e tirar o olho da primeira camada e selecionar o olho da segunda. 

não entendeu nada? ok, vamos recapitular. selecione a camada número 2 no painel da linha do tempo. assim:

agora vai até as suas camada, desabilita o olho da primeira camada e habilita o olho da segunda camada, assim:

“mas, mabel, e a eu tiver mais camadas?” repete o processo com elas. por exemplo, se eu tivesse uma camada “estrelinha 3″, eu selecionaria o número 3 no painel da linha do tempo e habilitaria o olho da “estrelinha 3″, entendeu?

passo quatro:

embaixo das camadas do painel da linha do tempo tem um texto escrito “0 seg.”, certo? isso é o tempo que a sua camada leva para passar pra outra. como está com 0 segundos, isso significa que a animação vai ficar rápida DEMAIS. 

para torná-la mais lenta, basta clicar em cima da setinha que tem ao lado de “0 seg”:

dica e informação nada relevante: eu gosto de usar meus gifs na velocidade de 0,5!

“mas, mabel, como eu sei que tá bom?” tá vendo que tem uma setinha de reprodução lá embaixo? então, clica nela e ela vai te mostrar como o seu gif vai ficar. não se esqueça de selecionar o “sempre” (sempre deixem essa opção ativada) ali do lado (pode ver na imagem abaixo”:

passo cinco (e último):

com o gif pronto, tudo o que você precisa fazer é salvar. basta clicar em arquivo > exportar > salvar para web (legado). uma tela enorme vaia aparecer no seu pc e tudo o que você precisa fazer é configurar da maneira que quiser (pode configurar igual ao meu, se quiser):

agora é só clicar em salvar e você tem o seu gif prontinho! o meu ficou assim:

3. Eye color?

Mostly a grayish-blue that sometimes has some green LOL. I say gray for convenience and it's what's on my license.

10. Any phobias?

Heights are my biggest phobia. It's the biggest reason I don't like rollercoasters - though I'm trying to overcome it. Spiders are another one.

16. Any tattoos?

I wish!! :c I've been planning on getting some for quite a while and have a lot of designs I've been tossing around. The biggest issue I think is picking what design I want to use. I was going to finally pick a design and get a tattoo in celebration when I graduated college, but that was last year and obviously I couldn't do that. Hopefully sometime soon, though!

22. Favorite movie?

Terminator 2 has remained my absolute favorite for a long time now, even though I haven't watched it all the way through in years. It has such a great message about what it means to be human, Sarah Connor is an absolute badass, and of course tons of action lmao. Another favorite that I have to mention is Lilo & Stitch which I watched over and over and over as a kid and it's just fantastic in every way. One of my more recent favorites is The Martian because sassy astronaut and SPACE.

Okay so IV been dithering over this because there is no right way to ask this w/o it sounding wrong and I’m promise this isn’t me being weird and anyways I can only write this while my eyes r dilated (4 courage) so I apologize for any misspelling s anyways I needed to ask u the size of Kei’s chest and I swear I’m not being weird I am but a poor hobby artist... also on that note any distinctive scars/characteristics, specifically on arms, ankles, back, stomach, and face? Hair color undertones? I know Tomo-chan has some nice blues I like to add to hers’, what do u think about Kei’s hair?? While I’m at it fav colors, 👁 color, moles, muscles, etc.? I’m going for a honu theme but I’m game to try and add cranes or bubbles or smth if I can

On that note I don’t like need specifically her three sizes or even an A/B/C/D # like no need to be specific just like I need a ballpark here cause I was starting flat but then I started panicking because I’m like oh yeah she’s a girl- not that she never came across as one! I just always imagine her in Ninja vests and gear so the whole chest thing has never came up not that there’s anything wrong about being flat I just don’t actually know if she is and I don’t want to get it wrong and there is just really no polite/non-weird way of asking someone about the breast size of their character and I’m really trying super hard not to be sound weird about this please don’t think I’m a weirdo QAQ *dogeza* (srry I cant actually search for emoji rn oh hey gifs r an option? Uh. Okay, let’s go for the full breakdown.

Height (adult): 5′8″, is generally the tallest of her team until the boys shoot past her around fourteen.

Build: Athletic with a small bust, relatively wide hips and wide shoulders.

Hair: Black, but with either a brown (in CYB) or blue undertone (in Dig Two Graves and OSF art, mostly).

Eyes: Extremely dark brown, taken as black at first glance. She has noticeable shadows under her eyes starting from age eight.

Kei has a mole under the outer corner of her left eye, which shows up in any piece of art with her face. 

She has several major scars:

The scar on her face, which runs diagonally from her right eyebrow and over her nose and terminates in the middle of her left cheek. 

She has nicks and shallow scars along her hands, mostly from sword practice. They’re mostly invisible by adulthood.

Post-Sorayama arc, Kei has a scar just to the right side of her heart, which has a matching exit wound on her back where Kusanagi impaled her. 

She has notable tattoos from age 18 onward:

Her left arm has a full sleeve tattoo depicting an artistic render of Tsuruya flying above Isobu. 

She has a Flying Thunder God Seal on her left collarbone, which allows Minato to teleport directly to her in an emergency. 

When she uses Isobu’s chakra, her jinchūriki seal is visible in the middle of her chest.

hihi! very random question, but i was wondering if you played genshin impact considering some of the art on your blog, and if yes, which of the current regions/characters are your favourites?

At the time I got this question, I was running back and forth across Liyue and Mondstadt killing mutant flowers for their loot drops. So, yes, you could say I play. XD

I won't go as far as to say that I'm *good* at the game, but I haven't had a full party wipe since the first time I fought the Snow Boar King.

Favorite Region: Liyue, especially around Jueyun Karst.

Favorite Characters: I mean, anyone on my team! My main team has a rotating roster (like in my Pokemon games), mostly of level 60 characters at this point. It's not especially efficient, but I like to keep my options open.

Except for archers. I am garbage at archery.

Main (level 60-70): Diluc, Bennett, Rosaria, Kaeya, Beidou, Sucrose

Secondaries (level 40-50): Ningguang, Noelle, Barbara, Tartaglia (juuuust barely)

I think if I was to have to point out who I main, it'd be Diluc or Rosaria. Diluc for being able to spam his elemental skill, and Rosaria for hit-and-run skills and also being two constellations in.

Decided to make the whites of his eyes dark to fit the aesthetic better, as well as changing the tone of his skin from orc-green to a lighter and more blueish tone, and I changed up the orientation of the fins on his ears to fit the designs of marids in 5e. Oceanus also has slightly nerfed version of a marid’s teeth, with one fang showing here.

The braids are a result of being taken in by Alena’s family, and the painted nails specifically happened because of her and her younger sister. The clothes in general are more like something Khalil would dig out of his closet, if in duller tones. The pants are short, the sleeves are split, and the sandals exist because Oceanus has fins on all four limbs and his head, all of which don’t fit super well into more restrictive wardrobe choices.

Despite his very skinny build and lack of armor, I slapped the symbol of Kord (the D&D deity) on the amulet, because this edition of Oceanus is a Tempest Cleric. He’s actually got a capped Constitution and Wisdom score, and his Charisma is a whopping 7.

(I also swapped acid resistance out for cold resistance because frankly I don’t care for the former and being resistant to freezing to death suits him better.)

Also, I found Kei’s general nature to be most suited to the Guardian breed, since they have a very real hoarding instinct...which applies an instinct to protect whatever the subject of their “search (for a purpose in life)” turns out to be.

GIF GENERATION AND OPTIMIZATION

Input: Video files (any video file format).

Installation

I recommend you install via Homebrew if you're on Mac or Linux by pasting this into your terminal (if/once Homebrew is installed):

brew install ffmpeg

Windows users or other users who don't want Homebrew can follow directions on the FFMPEG website.

Converting one video file to GIF

In your system shell (Powershell on Windows, Terminal on Mac) change directories to the location containing your MP4 file (or whatever video file type you have—just replace .mp4 in the script with .mkv or whatever extension you have). Use this command:

cd FilePathToYourMP4 fmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -filter_complex "fps=18,smartblur=ls=-0.25,scale=540:-1:flags=lanczos,split[s0][s1];[s0]palettegen=max_colors=256[p];[s1][p]paletteuse=dither=bayer:bayer_scale=2" output.gif

Explaining and altering the script

The script does the following to your the clip you want to turn into a GIF, input.mp4:

Generate a gif with 18 frames per second (fps=18 controls frames per second. Change the number to changes the FPS).

Sharpen each frame (smartblur=ls=-0.25 controls sharpening. Negative values between -1 and 0 sharpen the image).

Scale every frame in the gif down to a 500 pixels using the lanczos technique. (scale=540 controls scale. Change 540 to different numbers to scale up and down)

Generate dither called bayer to overlay on your gif as a filter (split[s0][s1];[s0]palettegen=max_colors=256[p];[s1][p]paletteuse=dither=bayer:bayer_scale=2) Change 256 to a lower number to reduce the maximum number of colors for further compression. Increase bayer scale from 2 to 3 for a finer dither, or lower to 1 for a bigger dither.

Generates and saves the resulting gif under the name output.gif.

NOTE: Video files inputs don't have to be .mp4. You can use .mkv, .mov, or any other video type.

Converting a folder of video files to GIF

Place all of your video clips into a folder called gifset1. Put an empty subfolder inside the gifset1 folder called gifs. Go to your system shell and copy and paste the following indented text:

Mac and Linux users:

cd ~/Desktop/gifset1 for i in .mp4; do ffmpeg -y -i "$i" -filter_complex "fps=18,smartblur=ls=-0.25,scale=540:-1:flags=lanczos,split[s0][s1];[s0]palettegen=max_colors=256[p];[s1][p]paletteuse=dither=bayer:bayer_scale=2" gifs/${i%.}.gif; done

Once the process is finished running (your shell prompt will reappear allowing you to type in commands again) if you go to to the gifs subfolder in your gifset1 folder, you will find an optimized gif of every video file has been rendered.
