oh boy here I go with the self-insert bullshit again! I have assembled a Library of Ruina floor (albeit a kinda shitposty one). The floor of G H O U L! Which does indeed consist of ghouls, but also a bunch of not ghouls. Do I count as a ghoul? That’s up to you. Anyway I made this floor because my soul got destroyed in the R Corp fight. (I like Myo, you see...also I got bored.) Aside from all that nonsense, I designed this floor to be as moderately spooky and wacky as possible. Join me in the next few millennia when I design what the floor itself actually looks like.

As I've now crossed the 110 hour mark in Team Fortress 2, I thought I'd share my current loadouts.
(Some notes below the cut.)
While the weapons change regularly with each match (I'm still experimenting), I don't play around with the cosmetics much except for maybe Engineer and Medic. Medic will sometimes have Dead of Night on instead of Uber-Wear, and Engie will sometimes wear Desk Engineer instead of the Sleuth Suit.
I make liberal use of the crafting system to deal with weapon duplicates or rebuild crate cosmetics that aren't worth reselling. Needless to say, I got super lucky with rebuilding all of the Unique cosmetics you see here (especially the birbs) and I don't recommend anyone else do this.
The Short Circuit and Frying Pan were random gifts.
I have the Ghostly Gibus and Pyrovision Goggles from their achievements, and a Balloonicorn tucked away in my backpack from crafting.
The Grenade Launcher is my one and only attempt at using War Paint.
I have no Festivized weapons and have used a Name Tag and Description Tag once each.
This might be sacrilege, but I don't care about Stranges or Unusuals and will get rid of them as soon as I can. I have a strong dislike of orange Unusual effects in particular after one match where I kept wasting my Pyro's airblast on a Medic wearing one who I thought was on fire :(
Can you guess who my least-played class is?

I wasn’t really expecting to, but I met a robot today!
Standard medibot model, wore a ghostly gibus and called himself Otto. Adorable little guy! Well, he’s not really that little, if I had to guess I think he’s around 6 foot? But saying just “adorable guy” doesn’t have the same feeling to it, you know?
Anyway, I think they’re like… 14 mentally I wanna say? But I’d have to talk to Humboldt about that. Anyway, onto our interaction-
He was a sweet kid, if not a bit troubled from the looks of it. Was kinda skittish when he first saw me, but honestly? I don’t blame him. Lots of prejudiced humans out there.
Once we got to talking and he got more comfortable, he gave me a hat! A ‘California Cap’ if I read the label right. Though, not sure if i’d be allowed to wear it around base since it’s RED coloured, but im sure nobody’s gonna care if I wear it off-duty.
In other news, Oscar, our pyro, might join the blog soon! Expect tales of grandeur from the seas that may or may not be true from him!

The Aesthetic, Part 3
Last time I covered the metropolitan, dieselpunk elements in Part 1, and the psychedelic, surreal elements in Part 2. However, there's another aspect to how I want Sinister City to look (assuming I even choose that one), and it's not something I can easily put into words. However, it relates to Team Fortress 2. Even when it's not Halloween, that game has some charmingly spooky elements, like the Ghostly Gibus hat and the health pickups turning to cauldrons and jack-o-lanterns on a full moon. The levels themselves are interesting too. Most TF2 maps are industrial facilities, and there's a certain look to them that's hard to describe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Primarily made of wood, but still very industrial. Rickety and almost cobbled-together in some places. Mostly inaccessible. I guess they mostly resemble American mining complexes built at the turn of the century - the look is consistent with some of Kingpin, which takes place in the 30s, and TF2 takes place in the 60s and 70s, so this building style had to have been popular before that.
Tumblr media
This is an old copper mining complex in Alaska. It absolutely fits the look. It was obviously built in the industrial era, but it retains that crookedness you'd expect in an old cottage. It's almost timeless in that aspect, an anachronism that could've really only existed at the whiplash of the Industrial Revolution. This really comes into play when you look at the Halloween TF2 maps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a more ghoulish light level and slight modifications to some geometry, every level looks like a stereotypical haunted house. You may not be able to enter all of them in full detail, but it's the look that counts. The way that I described Kingpin of buildings appearing stacked on top of one another really comes into the light here, this indescribable crooked abstractness to all of it. I really can't find the words for it, but it's distinctly Halloweeny.
Tumblr media
Here is a screenshot from Shoot Your Nightmare: Halloween Special.
Tumblr media
Here is a stock image of a haunted house. This is definitely a look. I've decided to call it the 2fort-Yharnam Spectrum, patent pending, and it's something I'd like to invoke in Sinister City, while adding onto that with the grim industrial vibes of dieselpunk. I mean, this is all if I end up doing Sinister City. I could do the Dark Fantasy one or the Zombies one. But I'd like to properly flesh out all my choices before I pick. It'd be unfair to skim over an idea because I'm not feeling it right at the present moment, and then take a liking to it later but I can't because I spent all my time planning for another thing, and... you get the idea. It's the Doubt, basically.

any tf2 tips for a newbie? i wanna try the game but i’m intimidated by it HAHAH
My first tip is to turn off voicechat o7 you don’t gotta hear what people are saying that is between them and god. Generally I would look through advanced settings. hitsounds, automatic reload and fast weapon switch are all helpful to me :)
I’m a soldier main I can give you a soldier tip, when rocket jumping you’re supposed to crouch jump and NOT hold W apparently. No one told me this. Also if you’re having a hard time hitting an enemy shooting at their feet usually helps (<- saying this as a guy who uses the normal rocket launcher)
You start out as a f2p (free to play). This is fine although it severely limits your ability to communicate including calling for medic. Buying something from the mannco store will turn your account premium, your call if it’s worth it tho 💥 generally the mannco store is. eh. buy something cheap if you want premium. Don’t buy weapons. <- also speaking of f2p wearing the ghostly gibus and pyrovision goggles will out you as a f2p more than no cosmetics which is FINE but people can be means, kill them with your mind.
Uhmmmmmmmmmm hmmmm. Shoot people o7. Most maps will have arrows pointing to where you gotta go. Play dustbowl once and if it sucks never play it again. 2fort is my favorite map and it sucks really bad. I think soldier and pyro are both good starter classes, try whoever you want out tho I used to refuse to play soldier until I saw someone with a bi flag cosmetic n went woah.... classes you might first be averse to could become your favorite.
king of the hill and capture the flag have more static maps than the other gamemodes, capture the flag often turns into a weird purgatory match though. I remember I would get really overwhelmed because some of the maps are damn big, that's why i love 2fort it's a small mirrored map. I can remember it like the back of my hand.

So awhile ago, me, Lord Ginger, and another friend of ours [call him Stone] jumped into an MVM game in TF2.
Stone is a way better Pyro than me and our team really needed a Medic after almost loosing the first wave, and I’m fairly decent at Medic; so I go Medic.
Suddenly our Solider is Hell-bent on finding me no matter where I am on the map between waves, yelling “MEDIC”, and when he did find me he would crouch and get as close to me as possible.
Think that’s annoying? Well, we also had a Demoman, who would also hunt me down across the map he would also call “MEDIC” but he would do it just to dance with me and then get heals. And at some point Stone decided to go Medic as well to help since the Solider just wouldn’t leave my hip.
But guess what? The Solider, even when Stone was on his ass with a QuickFix, would rocket jump to wherever I was and call for me to heal him! At some point I just told Stone to go back to Pyro because we needed the damage over the healing and that no matter what neither of them would leave me alone.
However, the Solider was really nice in chat saying me and Stone were really good Medics and that we “deserved metals” [yeah, he quoted his own main in chat]. And the Demo actually sent me a friend request after we won [which Ginger was surprised by, because he didn’t send anyone else in that game a request]. But it was just really weird and kind of funny to me, especially since both the Solider and Demo were wearing Ghostly Gibus’.
