Did you know that JRR Tolkien wrote an unpublished epilogue to Lord of the Rings? It's achingly, beautifully wistful in the way that only Lord of the Rings is. I revisited it recently because I'm guesting on my friends' LOTR podcast, and THAT reminded me that I drew a comic of the epilogue back in 2021 (all text is entirely canon). Anyway I thought folks on this website might enjoy it!

Second scribble (took very long, I dropped the full render because the lines took ages), Lothrandir and Radanir Going North. I realised that I severely missed an opportunity, so eventually I'll do a version of this where they're in winter ranger clothes and Radanir is watching the northern lights :)

There's a part two to the Lothrandir fic that is just Radanir and Lothrandir going north and figuring out how to be normal again and falling madly and devotedly in platonic-love and never leaving each other's sides forever and ever.

which server do people vibe with most? i (mistakenly) am trapped in the US servers so my only options are glamdring or peregrin (im unlikely to wait around for sting) and i'm not really sure which one i'd prefer

there is something SOOOOOO. JUICY. abt ithilrion lurking around the camp of the host in the wastes during the epic because here you have an elf who, among many others, came to dagorlad in the second age and saw utter ruin come to all that he held dear in middle earth and here he is being asked to stand upon this haunted plain with a hopeless army about to repeat the events that scarred his life beyond recognition and he's just gotta be ok with that for a second. just gotta stand next to legolas on this rock and not recall oropher's splintered force being decimated in the blink of an eye. not recall elendil and gil-galad's collapsed forms suddenly so indistinguishable from the thousands of other dead on the slopes of orodruin. like, yes, legolas, continue, i see nothing but your father's abject horror wrapped about your face like a spectral shroud but i will smile and nod as you tell me your scouting report of the lands below us and the voice that comes out of my mouth in muted agreement is the same voice that shook these same lands with righteous thunder as i lost my king and heart in one fell blow

like damn aragorn you may have left the Dead behind but there is still a ghost amongst your number

meanwhile golasgil's morale-boosting quest is like have a drink :) pls :) i am bereft with social anxiety and crippling self doubt after losing my best friends :) and ithilrion is like yeah ok sign me up

the grey company storyline in lotro is truly a masterpiece in setting up the long game so well that any further glimpses of them throughout the epic are all utterly devastating and take you 3-5 working days to recover

it's been five million years since i had a lotro oc i was brainless about and i regret to inform everyone i'm back on my bullshit again

anyway this is ithilrion, or calantar, or cúronir, depending on who and when you ask, and he is my favourite brand of hard exterior-soft interior captain whose love for middle-earth is the only thing preventing his slow demise into the west etc etc

born amongst the noldor in vinyamar to parents of vanyarin descent, he came to gondolin under turgon's host and had a lovely time where nothing bad at all happened (part 1)

eventually he comes to the havens of balar and the city of avernien where he elects to leave tuor and idril and the survivors, and instead, spends some time on the peaceful isle under cirdan's stewardship. it's here he meets and befriends gil-galad over many years, and subsequently follows him to lindon at the turn of the first age

he remains at his king's side for even longer years still, up until the great battle of the last alliance where nothing bad at all happens (part 2)

after this, he returns to rivendell with lord elrond, and spends the following bitter years in defense of fornost, harrying angmar's forces until the war of the ring emerges.

mildly competitive. enjoys sampling dwarven ale. a terrible gardener. he's more akin to a tardigrade surviving several nuclear disasters than a great elven figure of songs and tales. he remains a deeply unelegant figure in diplomacy despite elrond's many years of wise counsel, but they eventually put their differences down to ithil suffering a severe case of noldorin-influenced stubbornness and pride.

im endlessly putting off my transfer to the new servers for no discernible reason and i feel like a crusty old rock that refuses to move from its safe little ditch in the ground

however i also havent seen a soul in days of questing through gondor and that's an insanely immersive experience for the braincell working overtime to populate backstory as i go
