How does the Ministry function? Headcanon
Despite what it would seem, the Clergy's ruler is not actually the current Papa, which can be easily seen in the Chapters, where everything seems to be much more under Sister Imperator's control. However, even she seems to be under someone's supervision, aside from Satan himself. How does it all work, then?
Satan
Not much to be added here. Obviously, the person on the very top of the Clergy is going to be the Dark Lord. However, since unlike some deities he actually believes in free will, he doesn't really intervene much,
The Council of Seven Deadly Sins
The ones actually in charge. The Council, as the name shows, consists of seven members, each representing a sin. They are all in some way supernatural beings and have been granted immortality to guide the Clergy, however it is not impossible for the members to change. If one is somehow overpowered and killed, the person who defeated them gets their spot. It is unknown who is the most powerful member of the Council, therefore they do not have an official leader. Instead, they draw lots on who is in charge of their next meeting.
The Council of Seven Deadly Sins consists of:
Superbia (Pride) - The Director
Avaritia (Greed) - Representative currently unknown
Luxuria (Lust) - Representative currently unknown
Invidia (Envy) - Representative currently unknown
Gula (Gluttony) - Representative currently unknown
Ira (Wrath) - Mister Saltarian
Acedia (Sloth) - Representative currently unknown
Due to the fact that they obviously must attend to very many things at once, only one of them (The Director) is actually in the Ministry th entire time. The rest visit when they feel like and for official meetings.
Does Sister Imperator not being here confuse you? That's because she fits in the next category.
The Assistants of The Council
As of now, the only known member of this group is Sister Imperator, who serves as the Assistant of The Director. However, due to how her boss is, she is the one running the Ministry most of the time. Something that she was prepared to since she was a child.
For reasons known only to himself, mister Saltarian does not have an assistant right now and has not had one for almost a century.
The Papa
While the Papa holds a lot of power when it comes to Siblings of Sin, in reality he is completely powerless in the end, as any of the Council members of Assistants of the Council can easily veto Papa's decisions. In reality, the role of a Papa is much more representative than anything. They do, however, have a lot of paperwork to keep up with. So sadly, while the title is a great honor, it actually comes with much less power than one would think.
If for whatever reason there's more than one Papa at a time (for example, one of them is too old to function on his own, but he's not willing to retire (like Papa Nihil), another Papa can be chosen to function alongside him. In this case, the older Papa is mostly in charge of the more mundane tasks while the younger Papa takes on the more "important" aspects of the job. There can be up to two Papas at once, however one of them must be "retired" in theory.
A Papa can serve his duties alone until he reaches 80 years of age, however they can resign at any point (or can be forced to do so). He does keep the title, but it is mostly an honorific. A retired Papa is not forced to work, but they can choose to. If a Papa chooses to keep working after his 80th birthday, he will be forced to accept a second Papa to work alongside him.
The Cardinals
Unlike in the Catholic church, in the Clergy a Cardinal is not just a fancier Bishop, it's a fully functional, separate role. The Papa can have up to twelve Cardinals (which have to be accepted by at least one of the Council members) to serve as his own assistants and advisors. Not to be confused with a Papa's personal assistant, which is a completely different function.
The Cardinals also help manage the Ministry while the Papa is away. They are also temporarily in charge (still below the Council, of course) if something happens to their Papa and the new one is not yet chosen.
All heirs of the current Papa have to become a cardinal when they reach the age of 30, however due to the bloodline, they can, if they so wish, skip all the way from Deacon to a Cardinal, seeing as their education for their role begins way earlier. A younger sibling also counts as an heir. (So for example, Terzo has been a Cardinal to his father and both of his brothers.)
If a Papa dies without leaving an heir, the next Papa is chosen by the Council from his Cardinals.
Whenever a new Papa is chosen, he is given a choice to either keep the Cardinals of the previous one, or he can select a new bunch. Cardinals forced into retiring are given the title of an Archbishop.
The Archbishops
Despite how fancy the title sounds, it's just that. A title. The Archbishops get a fancier outfit, yes, but that's about it. They have the same responsibilities as regular bishops. The Archbishop title is mostly a way to show respect to them for their service, as it is given almost exclusively to former Cardinals and very few Siblings that have done something extraordinary to earn the title.
The Bishops
In the clergy, the role of a Bishop is not as fancy as it is in the catholic church. It can be summarized to a priest with more experience. A Bishop's role is mostly to educate Deacons and help younger Priests while doing the work they did as Priests. Of course, they get more paperwork than regular Priests. It takes 10-15 years for a priest to become a Bishop.
The Priests
Their role is similar to the catholic priests, except satanic, of course. There really isn't much to say here.
The Deacons
The lowest on the "Priest path" of the Ministry. The students. The ones who aren't Priests yet, but they wish to become them. One must be a Deacon for five years to become a priest. The earliest one can become a Deacon is 16 years old. An exception to that is an heir to the Papacy, who becomes a Deacon at age 13.
The Siblings of Sin
Despite theoretically being the lowest in hierarchy among the humans of the Ministry, they can be found all over the positions of power which are not directly related to religion itself. For the Clergy, anyone who has been baptized is a Sibling of Sin. They are under no obligation to become Priests or climb the ladder. Siblings of Sin are simply members of the Clergy, no matter what their exact function is. Can one Sibling of Sin have some level of control above others? Yes, absolutely, due to their administrative function or other things like that. In the Church's ranks, however, they are even.
The Nameless Ghouls
Despite me putting them at the bottom here, the Ghouls do not actually have a fixed position in the hierarchy of the Ministry. They are summoned with a specific purpose and/or to serve a specific person. Unless that person passes a contract made with a Ghoul to someone else, the Ghoul only serves their summoner at first. In most cases, however, the Summoners and Ghouls get attached to each other and Ghouls are granted freedom. While they still usually work under their Summoner, just with much more possibilities. The Ghouls respond to their Summoners almost exclusively. The Ghouls have their own hierarchies, but that's for another post, I guess.

No capes/actors AU came to me via a dream and I have since been obsessing over it,,
I have so many ideas over it but my fav is currently that the Jasons are brothers because of the quick switch between seasons/robins and how they couldn’t use the same actor for older Jason so they just asked his older brother to be Red Hood Jason, Little Jason is way younger because they were trying to emphasize how small street kid Jason was

DAY 75: onehat
#codacheetah#isat#loop isat#siffrin isat#isat act 6 spoilers#twohat spoilers#isat spoilers#yea im tagging the onehat post twohat spoilers. watch me#..do we know what time of day it is when siffrin goes to the favor tree?#i always imagined the evening for some reason.#um so anyways. hey do you guys ever think about onehat. do you think about it#do you ever think about how siffrin never learning about loop and never getting closure with them#is just as valid of an ending as twohats. you dont have to get twohats. loop getting some catharsis isnt necessary to siffrin's narrative.#they asked to be here. they were here to help siffrin. and they did. and it ended#that's it.#i've always wondered if loop saw siffrin perform the ritual for them#i wonder if it would comfort them or not. if you ask them if they're a ghost they say yes (and no) after all#the tree is their grave.#something something from main character to stage director to sponsor to corpse#and with how arcane the prereqs for twohats are. yes you can get them naturally on a first playthrough but it's definitely not the majority#experience especially playing blind.#to give loop an ending you have to reach back in with both hands and grasp at that connection#i dont rlly know how to articulate it but it makes me feel a kind of way tbh. you only learn the prereqs (w/o guidance) by talking to loop#very frequently and paying attention to the hints they drop to you about the coin. labor of love situation#self love. siffrin reaching back for loop. We Are Getting Out Together Bitch#Is this anything i dont know that it is#idk onehat fascinates me a lot and im not even gonna touch on the onehats playthroughs where u actually do get the prereqs#i think there is a slight tendency among some fans tocharacterize loop as. more vindictive than they are? i guess?#it's easy to stare down loop's big twohats breakdown and see them bare their fangs and look into their anger#but loop's willingness to fade into nothing and leave siffrin alone shouldnt be forgotten i dont think

I fucked up. Thought too hard about what the Papas might’ve pursued if they hadn’t become entangled with the Satanic Church. Besides the very real likelihood that they may not’ve even existed, I mean.
And I thought about how Terzo probably would’ve gone on to make movies. His style is not for everyone, but he has visions he wants to bring to reality because he believes beauty, in its many forms, should exist in this world. Inspiration comes in many bizarre and meaningful forms, and who is he to deny someone story of imagery that might catapult them into what they were made to pursue, the same way watching Metropolis way too young made him discover filmmaking? He’s known for putting up fights with executives and whatnot because he hates having to compromise more than what should be while still maintaining his original vision. Film students love him and he’s active on social media and answers questions and whatnot.
The industry calls him “difficult to work with” — and while those who’ve worked with him admit he tends to be very deadset on his ideas, they all agree: Working with Terzo is amazing because he’s still quite kind and respectful and will go to bat for them if executives or producers try and come in and switch them out with bigger names.
He’s known as the Dark Angel of the film industry.

Ohhh the Direct headcannons were so good!!Thank you for feeding me,but I would like to know what do you think he would be like if he was a yandere
The Director as a yandere
TW: mentions of suicide.
He/him pronouns used for the Director.
You know how in DND vampires can't love, the most they can do is obsess? (All my DND knowledge comes from people explaining things in Baldur's Gate 3 with actual DND lore on TikTok btw)
Yeah, he's no exception. He might only be a dhampir, but it's still a thing with him. He doesn't love.
In all fairness, he doesn't really obssess at first, either. You're just one his many puppets.
He pulls on your strings, ruins you, has fun.
And then he plans to discard you, just like all the rest.
Somehow, though, you managed to keep his attention. Not on purpose, of course, but you've made yourself... entertaining.
And so he decided to keep messing with you until he got bored of you.
Except... he didn't. He just got more and more into messing with you.
Eventually, he just... becomes a prominent figure in your life. A life that he chose to make very... entertaining.
Entertaining for him, naturally. For your side of things, a better term would be fucking miserable.
He basically pushes you to the very limit, almost driving you to end it all because of how bad he made it.
And then he actually makes an appearance. He allows you to see him. Not as your tormentor, but as a savior.
He builds you up, just like he burned you down.
And he still pulls the strings behind your back, making you miserable.
Naturally, you end up clinging to him more and more.
And he'll keep it that way, as long as your reactions are amusing enough.
If they stop keeping his interest, he relishes in destroying you completely.
He even visits your funeral, just to chuckle and leave you in the ground.
In a few weeks, he won't even remember your name.

Wild how House of the Dragon is basically a Christmas Carolling Daemon at Harrenhal. Like his story arc is visited by the spirits, learned lessons (sort of I guess) and from now on he shall be a better king consort, a better husband and keep the joys of Christmas in his heart all year around.

Late to the game as I’ve kinda been kinda non-here for a minute but I scrolled through the Dot and Bubble tag, and thought I wanted to write this post into existence.
There's this part in Doctor Who Unleashed where RTD says this:
“What we can’t tell is how many people will have worked that out before the ending. Because they’ve seen white person after white person after white person, and television these days is very diverse. I wonder, will you be ten minutes into it, will you be fifteen, will you be twenty, before you start to think, everyone in this community is white. And if you don’t think that — why didn’t you? So, that’s gonna be interesting. I hope it’s one of those pieces of television you see, and always remember.”
And I'm like. Yeah. But the reason this works even as well as it does is largely thanks to the work of the previous showrunner with the previous creative team, which was notably the first era to have any writers of color (amongst other firsts in terms of inclusivity in directors, composer, actors). While Chibnall fumbled whenever he tried to write about race himself, he did have the self-awareness to have Black and South Asian writers writing the episodes where race is the focus (and a female writer for the episode where sexism is a focus; my point is, he seemed to know his shortcomings).
I wonder what the current creative team looks like? (not really, but I wasn't 100% sure for all of them)
Tumblr media
To quote RTD:
“...before you start to think, everyone in this community is white.”
This is pretty non-self-aware, right? It's pretty “It is said, and I understand this, there was a history of racism with the original Toymaker, the Celestial Toymaker, who had ‘celestial,’ and I did not know this, but ‘celestial’ can mean of Chinese origin, but in a derogatory way,” right? (from The Giggle Unleashed) It's pretty “and I had problems with that, and a lot of us on the production team had problems with that: associating disability with evil,” right? (from Destination Skaro Unleashed)
—none of which are issues that should be overlooked, but think how much exponentially better they might’ve been addressed if he’d consulted with Chinese writers and wheelchair-using writers before going straight to giving the Toymaker weird fake accents and making Davros walk?
How many Black or non-white people do we think saw the Dot and Bubble script before it landed in Ncuti’s hands?
And this just keeps happening.
And like, from some of the shocked responses I've seen from white viewers to the ending of Dot and Bubble, maybe the episode's unsubtlety was needed? From the way RTD talks about it in Unleashed, the episode was written with a white audience in mind, Baby's First Microaggressions (where of course the microaggressions come from people who are pretty self-admittedly white supremacists). Ricky September, a more seemingly normal depiction of someone in the racist bubble of Finetime, seemed like an interesting element, up until the way he died.
The ending worked for me, because I do think the Doctor's reaction is true to how the Doctor would react. I just keep thinking of how much better the core themes could've been handled by someone with actual lived experience on the subject matter.
#dot and bubble#fifteenth doctor#rtd critical#anti rtd#ricky september#lindy pepper bean#dw negativity#racism#antiblackness#words by seaweed#not to be anti rtd. im just very critical. Anti RTD is just a tag which people use or block#every showrunner has their flaws but RTD is the only one self-righteously virtu signling over NOTHING. which is why im more critical.#plus the on-set sxual hrassment and what happened with Chris Eccleston etc. it vindicates me. idk. not tryna be a hater#ALSO dot and bubble is leaps and bounds better than any racism commentary I expected from Russell T Davies. so theres that.#can you tell I'm shy abt making long posts that someone is likely gonna be not happy about-#I usually search tumblr for posts to rb and talk in tags. but I couldnt find any posts about this this morning! tho I think ppl have since#etc its fine to critically appreciate imperfect media etc I do it all the time (as a Black fan) (who also thinks Rosa has Flaws) etc#I did see someone on twitter pointing out the hypocrisy of all white writers but twitter does not have space to talk about things#also love that The Church on Ruby Road has Mark Tonderai who became the first black director w The Ghost Monument. I love his directing#but that's the Christmas special. it is not part of this season. and honestly fr it's not close to enough#love the inclusivity in front of the camera. lets get some of that in the writing team NOW. it's hurting for it.#bring back Charlene James. can you hear me? was the best episode of Season 12.#the ep felt like a commentary on the “RIP Doctor Who” ppl under every official Doctor Who post? hence social media?#it does work best that way!! it just felt a little off of that way in rtd talking#idk im rambling. I did enjoy it tho. I just wish. but well.

So we watched both Spirited and The Muppet Christmas Carol this year, and thinking about it, I realized;
Spirited holds “Scrooge”’s (it’s a different person in the movie, but he’s still the “Scrooge”) hand a little more and goes, “you did great! Yes you’re redeemed; you may not be amazing right off, but you can work on it”.
But I’m realizing that the original Dickens’ Carol (in all the renditions I’ve seen; I haven’t read the book) is pretty much just the ghosts showing Scrooge his trauma and everything else that went wrong in his life, told him he’d die younger than he would’ve if he hadn’t gone mean, scared him half to death to where he had questions like, “can this be changed?! Is the future carved in stone?!”, and then they just…leave him, lol.
They don’t reassure him, they just leave him to figure, “hey! I’m back so it must be fixable”.
Don’t get me wrong; The Christmas Carol is a classic! But it just feels like the spirits aren’t very empathetic to Scrooge in most of the renditions.
…Except for that Christmas Present guy in the Muppets; he’s awesome.
