#ghost kaito au

Another one of the Au's i spin around in my brain sometimes.

The kid and the phantom thief

Shinichi/Conan while having legit deduction abilities mostly gained his fame as a detective because he secretly has the ability to see ghosts and has gotten evidence that isn't available to normal investagators through that skill. Kaito ends up getting shot and killed by the organization that targets him, he ends up becoming a ghost because he can't move on until the people that killed his father (and now him too) are in jail.... so he goes to Conan. Conan doesn't want to deal with this nonsense, he already has his own problems after all, but he can't exaclty ignore Kaito’s plight, and even if he wanted to Kaito is hard to ignore.

Kaito as a ghost can't interact with physical objects, and he can't change his appearance from how he looked in his final moments, but otherwise he's able to do anything he could do when he was alive plus a few ghost powers like turning invisible, phasing through walls, and possessing people to influence their actions. He's just a young ghost so he can't fully control anyone or do poltergeist stuff.

Conan of course has his normal Conan powers, just the additional bit that he can see ghosts. He can't hear them though just because i think it's funnier if Kaito has to communicate to Conan through pantomime, using all the theif tools and such he had in his pockets when he died as props. I like to imagine that Conan is pretty used to ghosts just pointing at their murderer or to a window that was used for escape and then it being Conan’s job to figure out how to explain the information in a way that police are going to be willing to accept as evidence- but no, Kaito is the most energetic ghost he's ever seen, going all in on playing charades to communicate once he realizes Conan can see him but not hear him.

.... i should probably actually write this one as a fanfic someday. But for now it keeps spinning in my head.

Hi, question abt the ghost au. Since Kaito is scared of the supernatural, including ghosts, did he freak out when he saw the other ghosts after dying or did he freak out after realizing he himself was a ghost too?

What if Kaito died from neglect at 8yrs old, after Toichi died? But because one of the gems Toichi stole was magic, although not pandora, it caused Kaito's spirit and fate to be tied to KID's (specifically finishing the quest of destroying pandora)

Meaning 8yrs later, on the day the KID room would've been unlocked to him, Kaito suddenly wakes back up- now a ghost!

Except on the full moon, when he receives a body for just the night and an insatiable need to hunt.

The body is a combination of his own and Toichi's, including how they died, always pre- dressed in KID regalia, this is a great thing for Kaito's sense of identity! He also can't feel pain so he can let the body get destroyed as much as he wants since it'll disappear at the end of the night and be reformed completely new the next full moon! Self-destructive tendencies who?

As a spirit Kaito can only be seen and heard by those who have been close to death in the literal sense. E.x. Ran can only see him after the time she almost drowned, not after diffusing the bomb with only seconds left, since while she would've died if the bomb went off she wasn't actually physically dying-

All Apotoxin victims can see him (and Akako bcs witch)

He can shift his spiritual appearance, but it takes effort and concentration, except if he shifts his appearance to KID which is just as natural as his 8yr old form. Oh yeah Kaito is very much 8yrs old developmentally and from his memories, the time he was regular dead wasn't magically filled in for him. He still has to work as KID though because his fate has been tied to it and it feels like tearing himself apart to ignore his quest, especially when he has his body.

The closer it gets to the full moon the more Kaito can interact with things as a ghost, at the start of the month he literally can't do anything physical. Except in the KID room where he can interact with anything at any time (you could consider it his haunt). It's a little difficult to set up heists under these conditions, but he manages, especially with Jii-san's help, who definitely can see him, that man caused an accident as a casual distraction, no way he hasn't almost killed himself for some trick before.

There's a lot more of this, but that's the basic gist of it- without touching on new relationship

dynamics and how other people (nakamoris) have changed due to the story-

TBHK SPOILERS AHEAD

so in my mikudemy ghost au, it's not NECESSARY to read tbhk which is different compared to it's origins

ORIGINALLY, it was going to be called "Toilet-Bound Saki-chan!" or "Toilet-Bound Tenma-chan!" And it would necessarily be the plot of tbhk, except that Honami helps clean the bathrooms free of charge meanwhile Shiho is the youngest exorcist of the Hinomori clan (inspired by Kou).

The giant thing is that Ichika, Shiho, and Honami were all childhood friends, but BIG something happened (idk what) and they broke up. Ichika summons "Tenma-chan" to help her regain her friends and it follows the similar shenanigans of tbhk.

I was really fond of this because the Broadcasting Club would've been Wonderlands×Showtime with Nene being inspired by Sakura, Rui being inspired by Natsuhiko, and Tsukasa would fundamentally be Tsukasa Yugi. Emu would be this girl who decided to join them all she'd have Tsukasa Yugi's more hyper personality, but Kasa (tenma) would be a lot more deranged.

I had this whole other subplot too where Ena would be like Shijima-san of the art room (Shinonome-san of the artroom) except she ACTUALLY offed herself. Akito would be depressed™. Minori would be basically Akane (the clock keepers would be Minori, Rin, and Miku). Haruka would be like Aoi and give Ichika all these rumors (which is also why Minori loves her so much she's Aoi and Minori is Akane except she'd be a lot less violent ig).

I was unsure of whether to make Luka or MEIKO Tsuchigomori (KAITO didn't fit the bill for me for some reason) Len was MOST LIKELY gonna be Mitsuba, however I also wanted to make Mizuki Mistuba at times (hehe more mizurui /p)

It's just really fun to see how my au has changed DRASTICALLY from being tbhk lore heavy, to having its own unique world and lore.

DCMK/GOOD OMENS AU!!

My mind's been goin on about a this -a KaiShin AU- where Shinichi is the demon and Kaito the angel based on the whole "I didn't mean to fall, just asked many questions!" Demon/"Just enough of a bastard" Angel.

The demon, an ol' crow named Cognac -cause yes I love that AU too-, brings death wherever he goes cause he's kinda cursed, eventually he finds a sorta fun on solving deaths cases and becomes a police detective (his human name being Kudo Shinichi)

And little angel tends to bring joy to anyone anywhere! Over time he's met far too many people ofc but no one could quite make him feel all joyous like one Kuroba Toichi did with all the magic tricks and fraternal caring for him, so when he finds out his death wasn't accidental, he goes the extra mile to find out the truth taking the role of the Phantom Thief, that bright figure in the sky that brings people a sort of relief and happiness (he loves the attention too ngl)
