I've been thinking that during the game the people that died became ghosts (I actually found a blog who runs with this prompt in mind), but I kinda think the characters that die should recover all their memories and be able to, well, watch the show. (This considering it a virtual simulation)

I believe this would be very interesting, having them reflect about their real personalities in contrast to their game ones. Everyone going crazy about Rantaro being their classmate (or not). Getting to know each other and, well, seeing how the story unfolds.

Perhaps they could communicate with Tsumugi while she's in her super secret evil lair in the library.

Perhaps after the game ends they all reunite for a couple minutes until it suddenly reboots and they end up in Salmon team or the Ultimate Talent Development Plan. The alternative would be those two iterations happen before, or they're simulations run on ai trained on the participants' behavior.

Here’s another idea: Kaede being far more pissed off at the “Shuichi should have died instead Kaede” comment than the fact that Tsumugi framed Rantaro’s murder on her and putting her through a pointless slow and agonizing death.

Imagine if the very much amnesiac Korekiyo, wanting some time to himself, managed to accidentally stumble into Tsugumi clearly being the mastermind.

Meanwhile the recently ghostified Kokichi gets to learn about this via, just after he was filled in on everything, Korekiyo bursting in with this info.

you know, i feel like amnesiac!korekiyo is just a susceptible to kokichi’s antics as gonta is. they should form a support group.

Ghost AU Maker-People... I love you all, you are like... feeding the rot in my brain every time you post ideas and HEADCANONS!!! I love Ghost AUs it's so creative and COOL bro JUST SO COOL!!!

Now, I have a few ideas/questions for you guys :3

Do you think that maybe the killer of the ghost (e.g: Leon can see Sayaka) and one other person can see the ghost. Like... it means they're the next to die, but they don't know that? I feel like the fact that Leon can see Sayaka when she dies is cool, but what if Chihiro saw Leon and only Leon. Not Junko/Mukuro, not Sayaka, but Leon. He/she is confused and that's why they blame themself for Leon's death in the second chapter.

(I feel like Leon would be a very vengeful spirit at the start, like screaming and crying and blaming Sayaka and whatever, and that's the only part Chihiro sees. Then Leon calsm down and is chill asf when Chihiro joins the suicide squad group.)

Following on from the above idea, Mondo sees Chihiro only. Then he dies, and Kiyotaka sees Mondo. THIS EXPLAINS THE KIYONDO COMPLEX STUFF!!! Taka is overjoyed to see his bro again and he probably went to the craft room to die because like... he misses his bf.

Now heading over to SDR2, do you think the people who indirectly caused the character deaths could see ghosts too? Like Sonia could see Hiyoko (she suggested she go to the music venue to tie her kimono sash, then she got whooped by Mikan) or maybe Akane could see Nekomaru (he jumped in her way and took a goddam bazooka shot for that girl) Nagito could probably see Byakuya and he'd be like "erm why are you not Byakuya Togami???", Chiaki seeing Nagito would be an interesting one tbh.

ANDDD V3!!! Woo! I'd say that like how in Rantaro's video message he was like "BLEEEP!!! Oh, I guess they don't want me saying that shit lmaooo" it's similar for ghosts, like Himiko can see Angie but not Tenko, and Angie is like "HIMIKO IT WAS KIYO!" but his name bleeps out or something. And Tenko and Korekiyo can see eachother.

So in actuality this isn't an official AU I'm working on by any means....... but I drew the BETA designs for Kokichi and Kurochi in Twins AU, back when it was just a couple of out of order fics posted on Ao3? Sort of as a patient Zero on the designs. Except I wanna show the art off so I was like "I need to bullshit an AU--oh! Dead Rochi AU, perfect!"

Anyway this AU isn't real and cannot hurt me. It's not real and cannot hurt me... The twins must always be together...

Ahem.

Canon Kokichi's cape is the most boring of all, sadly...

Still, in an AU where Kurochi died when he was 12, Kokichi would look like his canon self and Rochi as a ghost would probably mirror him. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Phantom Thieves AU Ouma Twins Reference Sheet

No u do NOT get to see Kokichi without his cape and mask, because I'm lazy. I've also gotten too lazy to separate the twins out into their own files so please forgive me I am Tired.

The back of Kokichi's outfit looks exactly like Rochi's so there's no need to really show it off here, right? I--FUCK. ROCHI'S LEG DOESN'T HAVE THE BLACK STRAPS ON THE BACK POSE. Ah well they're supposed to be there but I cannot be fucked.

Also remember how I was like "What if D.I.C.E. had a masquerade theme instead of a clown theme? This is the result of that. Kind of. It's actually the result of me putting the canon Twins AU cape on this old Twins AU redesign and putting on the P5AU persona mask for Kokichi on too, making a very interesting design! The hat was tackled on at the end to make it look real PT like.

Not really an official AU or anything, just for funsies and I didn't want to let these designs go to waste so I repurposed them.

Persona 5 Awakened Ouma Twins Reference Sheet

Okay so these designs have some themes I wanna talk about!

Kokichi's theme of rebellion is "Prince meets Robin hood, decides that eating the rich is a good idea, becomes new Robin Hood." Which is a bit of a mouthful but it fully explains Kokichi's design for the P5AU. He's from a wealthy family that he hates, and he wants to punish the rich bastards who hurt people by giving them a Change of Heart. Kokichi's cloak is themed after the phases of the moon and a bird chasing after the guiding star.

Kurochi's theme of rebellion is about reclaiming the childhood he never had. He's supposed to look like an extremely goofy, cartoon spy with his mask literally being those gag spy glasses and having a prop newspaper that probably has eye holes in it. He's even got a utility belt and everything. People often forget what his mask looks like when they haven't seen it in a while and they get shocked and laugh each time.

This AU is the only AU currently where the Twins don't actually match one another--and it's because it's their inner selves making the outfits that are fitting for their rebellion.

Bonus:

thinking about mastermind!korekiyo as a sort of weird parallel to mukuro: someone who wanted to befriend others but was manipulated by their sister into being a pawn for despair

some personal kore conspiracy thoughts below cut for those interested:

i think a lot about korekiyo's relationship to his sister less in terms of reality and more so in the way his thinking has warped to rationalize around the trauma. an important note before moving forward: i headcanon korekiyo killed his sister.

i think a lot of his character is unreliable narrator through the lens of guilt as a motivation

his relationship with his sister was extremely isolating, and people think he's offputting so they avoid him even when he's being friendly

whether you take it the canon direction of her dying of an illness or you're like me and think korekiyo possibly killed her, i think he feels guilty that he gets to do everything she didn't. she got him into anthropology and he gets the ultimate title, he gets the travel while she's confined to a hospital bed, he gets to live and be healthy while she's sick and dies. and they are both alone.

but then korekiyo gets close to people. in the case of the killing game; angie and tenko. his victims. he bonds with kaede faster than shuichi, and he passes judgement on the girls by comparing them to his sister to see if they're fit "friends" for her.

for the sake of the mastermind au my reasoning for the murder essentially goes as follows:

sister is the only person he's close to, isolation is exasperated by the nature of their relationship and its "secrecy"

kills sister (at time attributed to jealousy and possessiveness as she began to get close to other people)

despite attempts to stay distant, natural human pack bond instinct and years of anthropological interest means becoming close to and beginning to feel attachment to other girls during the events of the killing game (angie, tenko)

kills the girls he's closest to in a warped desire to repent both for the death of his sister for trying to have friends outside of him and for feeling as if he's "betraying" her by having done the same thing

Hi! I saw your ghost AU art of Mikan Ibuki and Hiyoko and I just played deadly life of chapter 3 v3. I'm super bummed that my favourites Angie and Tenko died. Could you draw them as ghosts cheering Himiko on in the trial or something?
