Once Upon A Dream

genre; light angst (death mentions??? blood but not the whole focus)

summary; entering a world seemingly suspended in time is a strange experience, especially when most others are uninterested in helping you adjust. the only comfort is the man in your dreams.

ever since joining the manor, it felt like you'd been watched. not in the usual sense of other survivors or even hunters staring holes into your back, curiosity practically spilling from their eyes. it didn't help how not even your time period was similar to theirs, lining up more to lucky guys then anything.

maybe that's why the eyes follow, a desire to rip you open and peer inside; desperate for something new in a world of bloodshed and fear. it was strange, among everyone's special abilities, you'd arrived with nothing. no weapons, no traits like theirs, practically useless compared to many residing on your side of the manor.

some had no desire to chat with you, put off by this strange revelation; finding conversations a waste when surviving was the name of the game. it didn't matter much to you, having stayed in your corner anyhow, only interacting with the few people who had been nice enough to at least say hi or introduce themselves.

during matches, it was like a nightmare, most hunters chasing you first in favor of even the weakest survivors. you had nothing to defend yourself with, practically at their mercy if you failed to kite using only the windows and pallets.

many were kind, some offering to wait at least 60 seconds before carrying you to the chair without any real chase, not interested in spilling the blood of the helpless.

most however, seemed uncomfortably excited about the prospect of the new survivor having nothing to defend themselves, like a sheep straying away from its flock.

even now, as you lay bleeding on the floor, no one comes to the rescue, the hunter deciding to chase down a new target, leaving you to take your last breathe of the match; the scent of marigolds comforting you in the dying moment.

its quiet when this happens, your tired bloody body floating in darkness, awaiting your prince of the night.

hes tall, skin hidden beneath layers of makeup, the colors mixing into beautiful flowers against his skin. the hat is titled forward, hiding his eyes under the colorful flowers.

you give a weak grin when he tilts the hat to see you, eyebrow raised, eyes burning with question.

"I'm sorry. i couldn't hold on against him." you say, heart sinking when his eyebrow twitches, though its not for you.

"don't be, mi vida. i've seen him and his behavior, like a beast preying on its next meal." his tone is harsh, his deep gruff voice sending shivers down your spine.

the nickname was familiar, a comfort from the overall disconnect with your home. he always seemed to know what to say in your times of need; sinking in the sand, wishing it'd swallow you whole.

he only smiles, the overall darkness beginning to shift when he let's out a breath, green swirls and purple stars dancing at his finger tips. his hands are cold when he places them on your face, eyes remaining warm.

"ill see you soon." he coos, as your eyes grow heavy and tired, his cool touch being replaced by warm blankets and sheets; the room dark with a candle as it's light.

a soft knock wakes you from the pleasant encounter, a maid calling out that you have a match soon; lunch being served at the table beforehand.

you don't respond, waiting for the women's footsteps to dissapear before dressing, ignoring the ache deep in your bones.

the hallways are long and uncomfortable, the odd silence unnerving as you make your way to the door, shakily pushing it open.

though the sight that greets you is strange, a man dressed in purple and black, a familiar hat settled in front of him as he gobbles down what supposedly was lunch.

he turns when the door creaks, a cheeky grin slowly spreading against his face when you realize who exactly he is.

"I told you I'd see you soon"

Excuse the YouTuber in the corner I'm too lazy to switch to a different video but, it's probably a pretty easy conclusion to come to that KH might function off a somewhat stable time loop but nothing has really made it feel blatantly obvious than realizing that actually, since Ansem SoD sent Young Xehanort to Scala, that would mean there would have to be a starting timeline where the first SoD went back to start the loop, meaning there has to be a timeline where Xehanort never left Destiny Islands MEANING there has to be a timeline where SoD never existed, and as such neither did Xemnas and Terranort never happened along with basically everything else. So are we in fact confirming that KH does indeed function off a stable timeloop that never truly "started" somewhere and has just always been this way, or what in the world could have happened to still lead Xehanort to Scala without interference? Cuz now I have to wonder, if we're going by stable timeloop, then either Sora creates the tear in time every loop effectively creating endless ones over and over which could lead to a bigger problem(or not a problem at all if it's supposed to happen??) OR this is somehow the first deviation, which doesn't feel likely considering obviously Quadratum and Srelitizia being there seems to be decidedly factored into the equation here, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it hasn't been. Or maybe the problem is that Sora's genuinely not supposed to be there. Idk where I'm going anymore, but basically if time started somewhere and it hasn't always been a loop, how did we get HERE to the point in the screenshot where SoD/practically everything was able to exist to "create itself" essentially??? And I don't think that's possible without outside intervention, so it's gotta be a stable timeloop!

so i've heard that in fire and blood viserys isn't chronically ill. what do you think of the show's decision to make him so compared to the book?

he is chronically ill in the book. hes sick for about a decade before dying suddenly in his sleep at age 52.

the maesters repeatedly blame his health problems on his weight, but the symptoms hes complaining of sound like theres more going on. whatever it is, i dont think its diagnosable in the time he lives in. so even if the maesters think theres something wrong, they cant figure it out and just shrug and blame it on him being fat. shockingly similar to modern day doctors

viserys in the book has what wed call an invisible illness. while they can be just as devastating, everything its doing to you is on the inside. its not a very visual process.

and for a visual medium like tv… thats difficult to show. unlike a very visually striking disease like leprosy. you cant miss leprosy and you cant mistake the effects it has on the body.

i think thats probably the main idea around the switch. that, and they probably wanted to do a ‘baldwin leper king of jerusalem’ thing with him.

i love sick kings. i love the idea of the most politically powerful person in the kingdom being very frail and sickly and physically weak.

Kingdom Hearts but it's a TV show and everyone are actors, BUT at some point the line between fiction and reality is erased, causing the actors to little by little begin to act like their characters, leading to disastrous scenarios and the public considering them a danger to society, even start making theories and conspiracies about how the show is cursed...

It all starts during the recordings of KH3 in the scene where Ventus awakes. Ven and Van actually attack each other and Aqua and Sora had to stop them before they got hurt (I should add that in my imagination many of Disney's own characters They are cgi-), they came back to their senses and apologize, promising that it won't happen again, but that was just the beginning..

During the filming of the final battle, Xehanort and Sora get actually hurt and that leads to pausing the recordings for a while. From that moment, all actors involved began to show strange behaviors, very similar to the characters they played..

Eraqus had to watch his best friend slowly descend into madness as Xehanort was one of the first to fall.

Vanitas isolated himself so as not to harm his siblings. Ventus wrote notes to himself and posted them all over their house to remember who he was, his siblings are, and that Van was his twin and not his enemy.

Sora fervently believed that he was in a place called "Quadratum" completely separated from what he knew and that he had to return to his true home.

...I'm not really getting anywhere with this, but I needed to put it somewhere.

It’s been a couple of days since I’ve finished Vampires of El Norte but there’s a small language quirk in it that I haven’t stopped thinking about. It’s something that you can easily miss if you’re not a native Spanish speaker and I need to explain it.

The quirk comes from the name Nena, which is a shortened form of her full name, Magdalena, but nena is also a cute and endearing way to refer to a young girl (nene in the masculine form) in Spanish. I have since returned my copy to the library so bare with me as I’m paraphrasing, but there are times where Néstor refers to her in his thoughts as “my Nena”, an emphasis on the capital “N” here denoting her name, but during the final act, in the least spoiler-y way possible, he refers to her as “mi nena, mi nenita” in desperation. The lowercase “n” here isn’t a typo, this effectively changes the meaning from him calling her by her name to him calling her a term of endearment. Especially with the diminutive “-ita” at the end making it cuter and therefore more endearing. It really shows how much love Néstor has for Nena and it’s a small detail that conveys so much emotion.

KH (in general) is about an evil old man splintering himself into different fragments to win against the force of good. He does so by manipulating people mostly - and he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling kids Sora, Riku and Kairi. It's all chill though when Xehanort loses for good his dead bf comes to be like "It's time to stop" and they both fuck off to the afterlife. (I'm summarizing poorly for the sake of humor-- but I really love KH it's worth looking into because it's just so unapologetically what it is and will make you snort laugh -- if you ever have time there's plenty of game-movies online/collections of the games bundled together. But also there was a plot relevant phone game so shrug. I promise if nothing else it is a wild ride.)
