The one thing I'm hoping for with the return of the Hunter x Hunter manga is an Illumi redemption arc. I know that he's cruel, but I can't help but feel bad for him.

We all saw how horribly Killua was treated by his family, and he was the golden child. I think that Illumi had it the worst out of all his siblings. Milluki was obviously neglected, Alluka was locked in the basement and not touched after that, and Kalluto is probably a mama's boy. All of his other siblings have some sort of trait that reminds you that they are human beings with emotions, but Illumi has only ever shown a bit of anger. I think he was somewhat of a test for his parents. They wanted to see how much torture a child could take before snapping in a way so that they could raise what they would consider to be "the perfect son."

Thinking about all the horrible things Illumi probably went through makes me sick. I really hope that now that Illumi is away from most of his family, only having Kalluto there with him, he starts to show even the slightest bit of empathy or emotion.

I know Illumi is probably going to end up dead by the end of the series, but I can hope.
