Gerson is a boss monster and here's why

As we know boss monsters age when their offspring does and if said offspring is dead they are stuck at the age they were when their offspring died

And we know Gerson is dead in Deltarune

And the surrounding graves are of characters who we know were dead in Undertale as well (which is interesting that more of the amalgamates aren't there which is either due to lack of space or it means they are alive in the Deltarune universe)

And we know that the amalgamates are dead

When monsters die they dust.

And we know Father Alvin is Gersons son

So why is Gerson dead in Deltarune where he has a son but not in Undertale where he doesn't? Because he's a boss monster that's why

Gerson Boom is one of the coolest characters in Undertale, despite playing a 'minor' role as a shopkeeper. From his design to his personality to his role in the game's backstory and his guts in the No Mercy run, there's a lot to love about this old timer, and in this video, I break down his character in all three routes as well as explore his lasting legacy on the world of Deltarune.

As a side note, the Undertale Yellow video had to be unlisted due to an audio error I overlooked. I will be reuploading it soon, potentially with added voices for the characters. We shall see!

We're still working on minor character designs but for now we have everyone's favourite weird old man, G....erson. Gerson Boom.

He takes the place of the Snowdin Innkeeper and runs the resort in Clearwater. We never see his full-body design in canon so I kind of eyeballed his shop sprite & Alvin from DELTARUNE. Some figures on his inspiration board included Craig Cuttlefish, Scrooge McDuck, and Jimmy Buffet.

Undertale - Justice Concept

Just expanding a bit this concept, and telling ideas I have with this little thing.

I will put the info in here so if you are interested you can read it.

This was made with the idea of making a Prequel concept based in the coffins order in UT, seeing that the Red soul coffin was for Chara, so the second human to fall was the Yellow Soul, so with this in mind let me explain some details.

The human names theirselves Risk, their true name is Clover.

Risk is a teen, and wields a gun powered by magic. (This is stablished in UT)

The human is the one with the Justice/Yellow Soul

They fall in 203X, years after Chara's death and a few years after the Human with the Bravery/Orange soul mysteriously dissapeared from the town.

They fall into Mt. Ebott to see what happened to the human and bring Justice to them.

The Human goes through Ruins, Snowdin Fores and a Town in construction, Waterfall, Hotland and CORE in the making.

The Human after dying to Asgore, they realize their soul will free the monsters from the Underground, so they don't load their file. (This explains why they have their soul Captured)

If you are wondering if there's a No Mercy Route, yes there's one, but the ending is the same one, here are things that happens.

If the monsters youe ncounter through the Underground gets to low HP the run away like in Deltarune, witht his you get less EXP because you don't kill them, you just use violence to proceed.

All the bosses, this being Toriel, Gerson Boom, Dr. Gaster and Asgore don't get killed.

To get out of the Ruins you damage Toriel enough so she let's you out of the ruins.

Gerson Boom and some royal guards chase you through Waterfall, gerson retreats after you almost deplete his HP.

Dr. Gaster knocks you out when you arrive to Hotland seeing threat you are, when knocked out, he hands you over to Asgore.

The Asgore fight goes as normal, so the end is you just losing over and over again until Risk gives up.

I made the No mercy route like this so no matter what the fate of the human is always the same, and so important character we see in UT aren't dead in the No Mercy route.

That's all the ideas I have for this little concept, I hope you like them.

Now that I think on it, Gerson is probably a boss monster. He's lived as long as Asgore, I think, and boss monsters only age while they have living children. In Undertale, we never see any of Gerson's children, he may not have them, but in Deltarune we have Alvin, and Gerson could have potentially aged and died because of that. Technically, this also means that the boss monster soul Kris absorbed, assuming they have one, could have been Gerson instead of Asriel, though the timeline for that is kind of screwy (could have been years) and it has much less narrative bite to it, so I doubt that's the case, even if you ignore all the hints.

I'm making a small comic with Gerson on in, and because it's been months since I last drew him, I've been struggling to draw his head in a more dynamic position other than a profile Xd

I spent like 20 minutes making failed attempts, so I've ended up making some study sketches to figure out how to make it in different angles...

I should probably do design sheets more often instead of just trying to remember how I draw characters XD

Children. Plural. I've seen some people think Ms. Boom is Gerson's now widowed wife, but it seems much more likely that she is Alvin's sister.
