Sisi (2021) - Season 03, Episode 01 | English subtitles
Disclaimer: I did these without any proof reading and while still slightly drunk from mulled wine with a headache. The subtitles should still be understandable but are definitely far from any professional subtitles but I'm sure they will do for now until official subs come along.

Wouldn't it be like really funny if after All That it was revealed that max was actually Jewish the whole time
#Just to like add to the drama and comedy grace has to deal with That now#Re: OP IS JEWISH OP IS JEWISH AND THINKS THIS IS FUNNY#Nerdy prudes must die but max randomly speaks Yiddish#Jagerman is a German surname but it's very common for Jewish surnames to end with -man#And Germany had historically had a pretty big Jewish population and some surrounding countries that use that surname have it as well#I mean for all we know he could very well be ashke or part askhe#I think it'd be neat anyway

Since I paid for RTL+ already, I can also give Das Haus der Träume a go.
#Das Haus der Träume#why are nearly all German period dramas set between 1918 and 1945?#I mean I know but there are so many more historical periods that they could explore as well#but Weimar Republic and Third Reich still seem to dominate the genre#period drama#historical drama

Two amazing fanfic moments I had this week:
Writing a fic for a fandom that is so small that 50% of the fics are all written by the same 3 authors and you have a favourite among them. Now imagine said author leaving a comment and a kudo on your fic!! Best moment of the week!!
Getting into a new fandom (even smaller than the first one) and finding a finished fic of > 100 000 words, with amazing writing and keeping you hooked until the end. Btw one of the best fics I've ever read in my life.
#I didn't think I would ever get feedback on my fics#and then this#so happy#in case you wonder about that long fic I found#fandom is Charité/Charité at War#German historical drama#watch it if you can

I just finished watching Die Wannseekonferenz (1984) and Conspiracy (2001) back to back.
While i get that that the latter is a lot more accessible to american audiences, i never really got into it. It's just so concerned with casting good and bad guys for the audience to relate to, constantly mentions and compares things to americas political situation and modern us values, and it has a surprisingly large amount of clumsy exposition.
While the performances of the actors are really good, the acting style favoured by this picture is is very dramatic and, in it's manners VERY british. I suppose that just reads as european to americans.
But the dramatic deliveries, the pregnant pauses, they take so much away from what made that historical event so terrifyng. These people argued, in a business meeting, about the beurocratic, legal and economic realitys of the final solution, that was already in progress.
The Wannseekonferenz (1984) gives you limited information at the beginning, but immidietly creates an atmosphere of comradery, where the only issue they have with each other, is wagering whose rank and jurisdiction matters more. This is continued in the meeting itself; it's a mind numbing logistics discussion where half the fights are just about who has what jurisdiction and everyone just trying to make it so their personal jobs will look especially well done.
It's only as the meeting progresses, and the audience slowly get's the subject and the extent of what is being discussed, that the horror sets in. Only then do they introduce the more personal stakes of some characters, only then some phylosophical questions enter in the form of law discussions.
I'm certain the Conspiracy is a lot more entertaining to casually watch, but if you are really interested what "banality of evil" can look like, i'd highly recommend Die Wannseekonferenz. It's currently on Youtube.
