Since you are so talented and I hope I don't bother you, I wanted to ask if i can request something? I don't know your limits (if you have any) or any subjects you are not willing to take on so i thought i would ask before sending something in ^^ Dankeee diirrr
Noch eine Deutsche!! Show yourself!!! And thank u… you make me blush! I still have a few requests in my inbox that I'm slowly working through. i wouldn't say I have topics I wouldn't write about. It's more like I read it and get an idea or not… but don't be afraid to write me your idea! I do not do kink shaming! Much love to you x3

i just can’t stop thinking about copia driving and being his passenger princess?? like ffjdsjjffjs he looks so good in that episode and i wanna go on trips with him just to dreamily stare at him
You just know when he feels comfortable he's singing along to the radio and gets all hyped when one of his favorite songs start playing, you have to actively remind him to watch the road sometimes because he gets so into his performance.
One of his hands is on your thigh at ALL times, though, unless he has to switch gears because this man loves his classy old cars and sorry but he is not driving an automatic. When you're not on the highway and he has to shift gears more often you rest your hand on his thigh instead, firm and muscular as it works the pedals. Gets him even more distracted than the music.
Road trips involve a plethora of snacks and drinks that you have to feed him. He playfully bites your fingers every time, brushing it off with a comment about how delicious you are but he loves to hear you giggle too much to stop, not even after he made the same joke ten times.
Don't tease him too much while you're on the road unless you're prepared to make an abrupt stop at a secluded rest stop parking lot. The bumps and bruises are worth it, though.
#he is italian i am german we are driving manually bc i say so#asks#anon#love this actually#copia x reader#slightly suggestive#copia HC

hey what the heck is going on in Germany???
I'm not really that knowledgeable on politics BUT, in a nutshell:
Basically, the governing coalition in the parliament up until just yesterday used to be the Ampelkoalition (traffic light coalition, named after the parties' colors), consisting of the SPD (red), FDP (yellow) and Bündnis 90/Grüne (green). Since the last election, they've been having a lot of conflicts and those came to a head yesterday. Our chancellor, Olaf Scholz of the SPD, has dismissed Christian Lindner of the FDP from his position as Minister of Finance. In retaliation, all other ministers from the FDP resigned from their respective ministry positions (except for one, who resigned from the FDP instead). With the FDP, out of the picture, the Ampelkoalition is now the minority in the parliament.
All of that wouldn't be too bad, but here's the issue: Because the coalition is now the minority, making it difficult to win debates etc., the chancellor is going to start a process (referred to as "die Vertrauensfrage stellen") that will allow him to dissolve the parliament and hold a new election. So, we're looking forward to a reelection in times where Germany's right-wing party, the AfD, is incredibly popular, the center-conservative party (which has held the position of chancellor for years, see Angela Merkel) CDU/CSU may consider cooperating with them, and generally the public is very radicalized towards either far right or far left - the far left party also having some very questionable takes.
All in all though, we might be looking at a right-wing party winning an election or at least participating in the government in Germany, which historically was not a good thing and never will be.
Fellow Germans, please correct me on anything incorrectly portrayed and/or add your own takes
#ask#german stuff#i hate talking about politics like this#if this blows up and i get anon hate for this i will go insane#and liberally use the block button perhaps#you can reblog this. just to be clear#but i'm scared of the anons#politics

as for the beret, you might be pleased to know that in German it's called Baskenmütze, keeping it's Basque origin it is associated with French chicness, but not exclusively, also with working class fashion and Basque Country
Kaixo anon!
I'm very pleased to know indeed! It's awesome that in German-speaking countries people are aware of its working class origin!

Why is almost everyone now acting like Colby committed a capital crime? If you don't like the video then just don't watch it, it's a couple kissing, period. I don't mean to be mean but everything I just read makes me angry. Colby is (dramatic music) HAPPY! It's okay to have an opinion but don't spread hate or act like it's wrong to be a couple in love. If you find the video cringe.. DON'T WATCH IT!
Let him finally be happy, this is exactly the kind of reason why people distance themselves from public life. Thanks for reading. Hate on me, i don't f*cking care.
-German anon.
I have no idea. I mean, I get that it's kind of fun to sort of mock but damn. Someone literally came into my ask box and said this man has never looked uglier to them.
Cause he kissed his girlfriend at a bar and they didn't like the lip placement.
Shit like that sucks the fun out of shit like this real quick.
And I was here when other controversies with Colby's love life have happened over the years and I know some of them sent people into a tailspin but this one is just such a nothing-burger compared to some of the other ones that I'm just...confused.
Anyway, you aren't wrong about the public life, thing. This is just another piece of evidence to add to that particular list for the next time there's a whol meltdown about Colby not being keen to spend anytime on social media if he can help it.
Ah well!

I am from Germany.
If you don’t know a word in German, just combine as many words you like and do know into one until it describes what you mean. There may or may not be a shorter, easier term for it, but even Germans do it all the time. Donaudampfschifffahrkarte is probably the most (in?)famous example.
i 100% believe you because i've low key noticed this when picking up German words here and there over the years. Like "sick" in German is "krank" and "house" is "haus" so of course the translation for "hospital" is "krankenhaus" , and the word for "ambulance" is "krankenwagen". German has set the bar for being straight to the point and efficient 👏 (and so far I've yet to be proven wrong on the saying, "There's a German word for everything" LMAO)
Thank you for sharing!!! <3

Where do you find these manuscripts? Is it like a website or do you find it randomly??
hey, thanks for the curiosity! lenghty answer below the cut :)
1)
medieval manuscripts are typically owned by libraries and showcased on the library's websites. so one thing i do is i randomly browse those digitized manuscript collections (like the collections of the bavarian state library or the bodleian libraries, to name just two), which everybody can do for free without any special access. some digital collections provide more useful tools than others (like search functions, filters, annotations on each manuscript). if they don't, the process of wading through numerous non-illustrated manuscripts before i find an illustrated one at all can be quite tedious.
2)
there are databases which help to navigate the vast sea of manuscripts. the one i couldn't live without personally use the most is called KdIH (Katalog der deutschsprachigen illustrierten Handschriften des Mittelalters). it's a project which aims to list all illustrated medieval manuscripts written in german dialects. the KdIH provides descriptions of the contents of each manuscript (with a focus on the illustrations), and if there's a digital reproduction of a manuscript available anywhere, the KdIH usually links to it. the KdIH is an invaluable tool for me because of its focus on illustrated manuscripts, because of the informations it provides for each manuscript, and because of its useful search function (once you've gotten over the initial confusion of how to navigate the website). the downside is that it includes only german manuscripts, which is one of the main reasons for the over-representation of german manuscripts on my blog (sorry about that).
3)
another important database for german manuscripts in general (i.e. not just illustrated ones) is the handschriftencensus, which catalogues information regarding the entirety of german language manuscripts of the middle ages, and also links to the digital reproductions of each manuscript.
4)
then there are simply considerable snowball effects. if you do even just superficial research on any medieval topic at all (say, if you open the wikipedia article on alchemy), you will inevitably stumble upon mentions of specific illustrated manuscripts. the next step is to simply search for a digital copy of the manuscript in question (this part can sometimes be easier said than done, especially when you're coming from wikipedia). one thing to keep in mind is that a manuscript illustration seldom comes alone - so every hint to any illustration at all is a greatly valuable one (if you do what i do lol). there's always gonna be something interesting in any given illustrated manuscript. (sidenote: one very effective 'cheat code' would be to simply go through all manuscripts that other online hobbyist archivers of manuscript illustrations have gone through before - like @discardingimages on tumblr - but some kind of 'professional pride' detains me from doing so. that's just a kind of stubbornness though. like, i want to find my material more or less on my own, not just the images but also the manuscripts, and i apply arbitrary rules to my search as to what exactly that means.)
5)
whatever tool or strategy i use to find specific illustrated manuscripts-- in the end, one unavoidable step is to actually manually skim through the (digitized) manuscript. i usually have at least a quick look at every single illustrated page, and i download or screenshot everything that is interesting to me. this process can take up to an hour per manuscript.
---
in conclusion, i'd say that finding cool illuminated manuscripts is much simpler than i would have thought before i started this blog. there are so many of them out there and they're basically just 'hidden in plain side', it's really astounding. finding the manuscripts doesn't require special skills, just some basic experience with/knowledge of the tools available. the reason i'm able to post interesting images almost daily is just that i spend a lot of time doing all of this, going through manuscripts, curating this blog, etc. i find a lot of comfort in it, i learn a lot along the way, and i immensely enjoy people's engagement with my posts. so that's that :)
#if you ever have any specific questions about any of these tools or my strategies feel free to ask or dm me#i'd also be interested in recommendations of databases that are specific to other languages/regions that are neither german nor english#preferably with a focus on illuminated manuscripts#or useful databases that are just not very well known#ask#medieval art#medieval studies#btw @anon sorry for only getting around to answering your ask now#and re: your following message. first of all never apologize for your english skills. like ever#it's a daily struggle for me as well tbh. i never post anything without german/english dictionary tabs open lol#and i feel like i 'owe' it to the tumblr blogger format to write in smooth english#secondly your question wasn't dumb at all! i'm glad somebody asked :)
