The Firuza House was built by Azerbaijani craftsman Yusuf Hassan oglu for the Persian Consul Mirza Riza Khan at the end of the 19th century.

The central balcony attracts attention with its intricate pattern of multicolored stones and mirrored elements.

I thought if I came home and immediately got into bed I could salvage something resembling decent sleep before I leave for the airport at 4:30 AM but it turns out that I am still in fact bound by bedtime rules and also being bouyed by excitement at seeing my hometown again so suddenly even just for two days. Jvari Monastery (Georgian: ჯვრის მონასტერი, literally "cross"). According to legend, the holy enlightener Nino came to this place and erected an Orthodox cross. From this moment, the beginning of Christianity in Georgia is reported.

The construction of the temple was completed in 604 AD. In 2004, Jvari was included in the UNESCO list as one of the hundred monuments that are in danger of destruction, but restoration work in 2007 allowed it to be excluded from this list.

Jvari stands on the top of a mountain and seems to be the center of the entire surrounding landscape. The unity with the landscape is emphasized by the fact that the monastery itself correlates with the size of the rock exactly as 1 to 7.

Храм и монастырь Джвари (груз. ჯვარი, досл. "крест"). По легенде святая просветительница Нино пришла на это место и воздвигла православный крест. С этого момента отчитывается начало христианства в Грузии.
