Gentlebeard Wedding Week will run from Monday 6th to Sunday 12th May 2024. It is a fan-run event for writers, artists, cosplayers, musicians and everyone in between to create a piece of artwork around a set of wedding-themed prompts.

Okay, I loved Gentlebeard Wedding Week, and I'm a sap for the "Bonnet-Teach" of it all.

However, as someone with a hyphenated birth name, this is my public service announcement:

Hyphenated names are the worrrrst

Before you consider this for yourself, I implore you to think about your

Credit cards

Doctors offices

Work emails

ID cards

DID YOU KNOW that some airlines consider a hyphen to be a special character? That many doctors offices will arbitrarily choose one or another of your names, but never both, and never consistently? That some payment systems will get mad at your credit card for including a hyphen in your name?

I know that they're fictional characters, but I present the following argument:

Why use "Bonnet-Teach" when you can blend the names and get "Beach"?

Especially for two men with shit dads

Stede and Ed Beach

Come on guys it's so fucking cute

That or Jim can gently guide them to

Bonnet y Teach

In the superior name-combining tradition
