I’m extremely heartbroken to hear about the passing of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. I will never forget my first meeting with h/er in 2015, after we got kindly introduced by @leavepatrikalone , when s/he was sitting for me for a portrait. After I took the photos we talked for three hours and had Vodka Cranberry. It was a hot summer day in h/er “Nest“ in New York City and Genesis had already problems breathing. S/he played h/er latest record for me and s/he told me how sad and lonely s/he still felt, because of Lady Jaye’s death, h/er other half. We talked about art and life and death and it was really beautiful. What a wonderful person! A unique and true artist! I‘m so glad and honored that I had the chance to meet this legend and could create my work of h/er. In 2016 I presented Genesis the Portrait. When s/he said, that I showed h/er “true self“ in my drawing, I was over the moon! The world lost a real artist! Gen was outstanding... and very sweet. A day in a haemopathologist’s life: CMML In the loving memory of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge - here is a peripheral smear with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. CMML is defined by the WHO using 5 main criteria: 1. Absolute monocytosis >1000/uL and should be at least 10% of the differential - persistent 2. No evidence of a defined myeloproliferative neoplasm 3. No rearrangement of PDGFRA, PDGFRB, or FGFR1, and no PCM1-JAK rearrangement 4. Blasts less than 20% of differential 5. Dysplasia in at least 1 lineage and/or evidence a clonal genetic abnormality Marrows are usually hypercellular. Blast can lack CD34 and CD117 so immunohistochemistry isn’t always as helpful in looking for blasts in bone marrow biopsies. Need careful morphological assessment. I first met Genesis Breyer P-Orridge in person at a fetish boat party in London where s/he (they) were the DJ back in 1985 during Psychic TV’s Godstar era. I was a huge fan of Throbbing Gristle from a young impressionable age. I also knew about all their artistry and musical endeavors and projects prior to TG, namely the performance art collective known as COUM Transmissions. Upon meeting we exchanged some pleasantries and we established a powerful connection and bond and shared a lot of mutual interests like body piercings, scarification, tattoos, other body modifications, Beat Generation writers, the occult and sigils to name a few. Some of us were piercing each other at the aforementioned boat party. They had such a powerful presence with their magnetic piercing eyes and soft spoken demeanor that was so soothing and assuring. They invited me to their facility/headquarters on Beck Road in Hackney. They then set me up with a place to stay and I became affiliated with Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth and engaged in other collaborative efforts with other members. I learned quite a bit from their brand Ov Magick and use of sigils to tap into the creative source and energy. Rest in Power dear Genesis. Carl Abrahamsson: In what ways would you say that the pandrogeny project has changed your mind? ⁠⠀ Genesis Breyer P-Orridge: The simple answer about the effect of pandrogeny on me is that it is absolutely inextricable from Lady Jaye. As you know, we’ve worked with some amazing people. Dr. Timothy Leary, Derek Jarman, Dr. Timothy Poston, William S. Burroughs, David Medalla, Gerald Fitzgerald, Colin Naylor and Brion Gysin to name a few; sadly all bio-males. However, without hesitation we can say that Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge is by far the most fearless person and thinker we’ve ever met. Just in simple things... She used to smoke DMT every weekend and call it “the sparkle.�� We smoked it once and it fucking terrified me. It was so overwhelming, but it still left me with this message which was that time is meaningless. Because while we were gone for ten minutes in Lady Jaye’s apartment, we watched two galaxies be formed, all civilizations come and go, and big wars and fights and arguments, and then another galaxy, and then we came back here. And yet only ten earth minutes had gone by here! How is that possible? Only if time is meaningless. We usually tend to prefix anything these days with, “assuming that this exists;” then we try and explain what is going on. But don’t think it exists for sure because there is no way of knowing. I don’t know how it is for you, but for me, my dreams are equally as real as this. There is no way of saying what is supposedly real, and it is not really that important. What is really important is thinking about what people’s minds are doing. That is one of the things that Jaye really clarified for me. She used to refer to the human body as a “cheap suitcase,” and Timothy Leary used to say that the body is just here to move the brain around and give it mobility. Nikola Tesla called it a meat machine. So Jaye was in good company with her conclusions about that. If the body is a cheap suitcase, what is there of value in the being?
