okay but to be quite fair rei's relationship with gender as portrayed on their route is so. idk how to explain it but the fact that their gender identity + expression was shaped by everything around them from their family to their school to their community..... and how rei found a community of people that loved them and accepted them and were just like them..... ough. yeah.

Tbh I think rei is transmasc (didn't have to change his name cus it's kinda feminine but can believably be a dude's name too, plus he just never really thought about it. He's just Rei.) Also he was allowed to transition because a male heir was more useful anyway so his dad let him, even tho he's not actually like, supportive in any way, tho he did probably also destroy any existing birth records if there were any to begin with. Also probably killed whoever knew of reis AGAB including the doctor that helped with his birth probably. The only other person that knows is kazuki cus he literally has bathed him at least once

and kazuki is genderfluid (his genders are both mom AND dad) but hasn't let himself think about that because grief and mourning and guilt and not letting himself be truly happy, so he ignored all that and just put on a brave face as usual. He's working on it. Miri sometimes calls him mama and he cries every time. Also they do dress up together sometimes and she paints his nails (badly, of course, cus she is. A whole baby) and it's sweet and wonderful and healing for them both. Sometimes they can rope Rei into joining in and they give him lil braids and butterfly clips and shit like that. He doesn't mind

Happy WIP Wednesday!

I say this now, with no clue if I'm really gonna stick to it, but thought I'd begin to share some of my WIP as a way to encourage me to keep working on my fics.

No title yet, and in all honesty, I'm not sure if I'll post the final, but for this week, I give you a little WIP of a fic that came about from wanting more genderfluid Rei Suwa content. Enjoy!

This continued for a few more rounds. Rei switching outfits in the bathroom while Kazuki waited on the couch, typically looking at his phone in hopes that it wouldn’t seem like he was waiting on or expecting Rei to rush out. Simultaneously, Kazuki was mentally keeping track of each item Rei tried on and how many he had left. Therefore, he was slightly surprised when Rei told him there was one more item to try on after asking him, “Is that the last of it?” No big deal though, this just gave Kazuki more time to strategize which market was running the best deal for tonight’s dinner ingredients. In this focus of comparing the prices of potatoes at three different stores, Kazuki hadn’t realized Rei came back out. Shyly, Rei approached Kazuki and stood there, waiting for Kazuki to notice he’d return. After a few moments, Rei cleared his throat and called his name. “Oh, Rei, sorry. Just trying to figure out the shopping list. How is it?” Kazuki asks while turning his attention from his phone to Rei. He feels bad for staring, but Kazuki can’t help it. He’s never seen Rei in a skirt before. And, as Rei stands there, crossing his arms and avoiding eye contact, Kazuki can’t take his eyes off him. “Um, it’s good,” Rei answers.  Realizing what happened though, Kazuki attempts to ease Rei’s thoughts. “I thought Miri missed trying on a skirt yesterday. She couldn’t find it in her box, so I just assumed it would either turn up in yours or was left out. I didn’t realize I added it in an adult size. Sorry for making you feel like you had to try it on.” This prompted Rei to finally look at Kazuki. “You mean you didn’t buy this for me?” Rei asked. He wasn’t sure how he felt opening up the package to find a black, knee length skirt inside, but once he put it on, it felt right to him. Rei liked the way it was light and flowy and how it suited his figure. Considering how well Kazuki knew him, his tastes, his preferences, Rei thought Kazuki had purposefully chosen this skirt, contributing yet another example to the times in which Kazuki seemed to know Rei better than himself. “Well, I meant to buy it for Miri. But, like I said, I must’ve clicked on the adult sizing instead. So, not really I guess.” “Oh” is all Rei could muster as Kazuki noticed him looking more and more deflated. Trying his best to figure out what exactly would comfort Rei, Kazuki listened to his guts and told Rei his thoughts. “It worked out though. I don’t know how the sizing managed to work out even though I thought I was buying for Miri. You look good in it.” “Really?” “Yeah. I don’t know if this is weird to say, but it really suits you, Rei.” With a small glimmer of happiness in his eyes, Rei looked down at his skirt, playing with the folds of it. “Can I keep it?” “Sure. If you like it, I like it. And I’m happy you do.” “Thank you, Kazuki.”
