Müllerian and Wolffian Astronomy-Style Symbols
Left: Müllerian - a perisex person whose innate sex development is in line with societal expectations of "biological female". The symbol is a reference to electronics symbology for a female socket. Right: Wolffian - a perisex person whose innate sex development is in line with societal expectations of "biological male". The symbol is a reference to the same electronics symbology, but for a male plug.

Symbols for perisex trans and nonbinary folks: 🏳️‍⚧️

And symbols for cisgender perisex folks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a happy accident that the cisgender perisex female symbol looks like a stick figure in a dress lol 😂
SVG files available on Wikimedia Commons 💜 Feel free to edit and play with them as desired! 💜
These symbols came out of this thread where I workshopped ideas for a perisex flag. Thanks to everybody who participated, especially @clowncaraz for valuable feedback!
EDIT 2024-10-07 whoops mixed up Wolffian and Mullerian at the top of the original version of the post. 🙃 Thank you to Apollo for bringing that to my attention!

I decided to create my own transmaverine symbol! It's square like my abinary symbol with three extending "arms". You are the dot in the center sitting separate from those extending parts - separate from binarity and neutrality/nullity. It doesn't need to be an exact translation, just a way to interpret the symbol.
The fun part is that a gender symbol can be added onto one of the "arms" to indicate a transmaverine person with a specific non-maverine gender.
I think I may redo my abinary symbol sometime. I have a better idea for it that I'd like to try, maybe another day. - 💙💚

here are all the symbols that have been proposed for maveriques at some point:
Tumblr media
the comet symbol was proposed as planet symbols (at the time of its proposal) were associated with binary gender, but it still keeps the pattern of celestial objects. it never really picked up as it was also already being used as a general nonbinary symbol. now it has pretty much fallen out of use entirely. the problem with the comet symbol is that when the unicode character is inserted somewhere, it turns into an emoji and looks nothing like the picture.
Tumblr media
the earth symbol was briefly considered for maveriques because it's a planet symbol, but it was quickly discarded after some sources stated its use as an intersex symbol. i don't know if nowadays it's actually used as an intersex symbol. i've never seen it and have seen other symbols for intersexness instead. the earth symbol has the same problem as the comet symbol.
Tumblr media
the sun symbol was proposed due to the colours of the maverique flag, as well as maveriques' "burning inner conviction" about their gender. it follows the pattern of using celestial objects while not using a planet. the symbol isn't used much for maveriques though, as in many cultures the sun is associated with masculinity. especially after solarian was coined, the sun became even more associated with masculinity in nonbinary spaces. nowadays, this sun symbol is sometimes used as a disabled symbol.
Tumblr media
the pluto symbol was suggested because it follows a pre-established pattern of gender symbols (celestial objects closest to the sun) and it doesn't look like the venus and mars symbols, setting it apart from binary gender symbols. this symbol never really picked up.
Tumblr media
this symbol was designed on a tumblr blog that no longer exists. the meaning of the symbol is explained like this: "the line in the center of the circle represents the binary and the filled in circle represents maveriques not being any part of it. the lines going sideways and extending in both directions is to show that no one is the same yet the people who identify as maverique have this identity in common." while the meaning is explained, it's still unclear. despite that, this seems to be the most commonly used maverique symbol. because this is not a symbol that already existed, there's no unicode character.
Tumblr media
this symbol was created by me a few months ago. the circle is a common component of gender symbols nowadays. the two small circles on the left and right symbolise the gender binary. the bigger circle in the middle symbolises maveriques, not "touching" the gender binary. there's no unicode character for this, because it's not a pre-existing symbol.

These are the Disk-Beings, who were playable characters in the first DDR game and a few others (Max 2 US and Extreme and Party Collection JP). They were initially just the "blue male" and "red female" pair, but I thought in today's day and age, for inclusion's sake, other gender identities should be represented so I'm showing you my own Disk-Beings with the other LGBT gender identities for inclusion's sake

hey what's that symbol in the intraabin flag based off? i just can't find a proposal of it as an abinary symbol
Incredibly late answer, sorry! The intraabin symbol is based off the abinary symbol proposed by waxingoccult, who is deactivated. I don't remember exactly which archive blog I found it from at the time, but here's a link to one of them.
I do still have the intraabin and the general abinary symbols I made, though!

Newly Coined Centrigenders
These are some centrigenders I came up with that won't have any flags made for them, but will have symbols made at some point. These can be posted to any gender wiki, as they already exist as part of a larger system of terms that wasn't coined by me. Just be sure to credit me!
Mavrinix: Between maverique and androgyne.
Mavrox: Between maverique and androx.
Mavrynx: Between maverique and gynx.
Neutrautonome: Between neutral and maverique.
Mavautre: Between maverique and outherine.
Neuxomme: Between neutral and neutromme.
Neuxemme: Between neutral and neutremme.
Neudrox: Between neutral and androx.
Neugynx: Between neutral and gynx.
Below are my ideas for symbols, doodled so I don't forget them. I'll refine them and remake them in Photoshop in the next few days!
Tumblr media
A little bonus under the cut: Symbols for centrigender terms that already exist. Just for fun.

I do sort of wish western anime fans would analyze anime and manga from a framework of japanese historical and cultural context. Specifically a lot of works from the 90s being influenced by the general aimlessness and ennui that a lot of people were experiencing due to the burst in the bubble economy and the national trauma caused by the sarin terrorist attack. I think in interacting with media that’s not local to our sociocultural/sociopolitical sphere it’s easy to forget that it’s influenced and shaped by the same kinds of factors that influence media within our own cultural dome and there ends up being this baseline misalignment of perception between the causative elements of a narrative and viewer interpretation of those elements. It’s a form of death of the author that i think, in some measure, hinders our ability to fully understand/come to terms with creator intent and the full scope of a work’s merits

y’know i was talking about genderfluidity and trying to find a way to make my body as satisfying as possible for me with my mom and i mentioned not wanting top surgery but instead wanting to get tattoos of the scars and she worried about it coming off as offensive to other trans folks or people who’ve had mastectomies. SO i figured i’d ask the people of these communities myself!
*a realistic tattoo would be designed to look as accurate to actual scars as possible, whereas a stylized tattoo would be more cartoony- think the “eyelash/starburst” scars you see in a lot of transmasc art
reblogging for sample size would help me out a ton with gauging community opinions and such but obvi there’s no pressure :] just looking to know how ppl feel! thanks in advance folks
