this is NOT a definitive guide to gender terms at ALL but. i had fun making this little bar thingy the other day when trying to explain a headcanon for a character's gender. the white space is the area beyond/outside the gender binary.
obviously there's a LOT of nuance and everyone has their own feelings on their genders, but this is how my brain has like. processed the vibes of different identities to figure out my own gender identity.

When your gender identity goes through seasons or something and you started shipping with a character that's widely perceived as gay man while you're identifying as a NB masc presenting AFAB person and now you're a somewhat fem/androgynous presenting NB AFAB person and are afraid to reflect that in your selfshipping art because your FO is widely perceived as a gay man and you feel like your ship was only tolerated as much as it was because even though your SI has female reproductive organs they presented masc but now it's gonna be a problem if the Beloved Homo Hobo is being shipped with a fem presenting NB AFAB SI.

Some say the cutest girls have electricity in their eyes.
They twinkle like stars, lighting one path ahead,
and the sparks fly when you come close.
Others say the hottest ones have fire and ice in their eyes,
with depths below, mysteries to unravel,
wielding polished blades which form their shape.
But what of the rest?
The girl with the power of water in her eyes
is a haven, oasis among dry and barren hearts,
and within her reflections, souls find peace.
Then there’s the girl with earth in her eyes.
You can trust her to take care of anything
as she tirelessly tends to what matters most.
Far away flies the girl with wind in her eyes,
roaming free through the land for a suitable ear
which she’ll bless with the whispers of a distant city of butterflies.
Legend tells of a girl with a galaxy in her eyes;
a creator, a goddess, effortlessly spinning world on world of beauty.
She observes, reforms, turns her home into colours of a six-dimensional rainbow.
And me?
I love them all like sisters,
and there are those who would say I contain multitudes.

Gender Thoughts with Coin
Not entirely witch but I had a dream the other day where I told myself in the dream exactly how I view my gender and ever since then a lot has been very clear.
First, I've always felt "masculine", and he/him pronouns have always been the most comfortable for me, but gender nonspecific terms outside of pronouns have never mattered to me. I just knew I didn't love being called feminine terms. Everything else was fine. But since I knew I wanted to transition physically so that I'd have a beard and such, I was like "guess I'm a trans man". I wasn't forced into that thinking (looking at you, TERFs) I just didn't care enough to seek a label that fit better.
Now, though, after years of it being on the back burner of my mind and after that all-too-realistic dream, I think I've come to terms with it. Gender is weird and I don't like to label mine, that's all.
I still use he/him and such but I've since stopped thinking of how much of a "man" I am because I've never truly subscribed to what a man is. I've always felt ambiguous and androgynous.
I told my bf that while the term "nonbinary" doesn't feel right I think (if I had to put a label on it) I would call myself non-boy-nary.
Yes, I did make this post to come out to you all but also to assault you with my amazing pun.
You're welcome.

Did y'all know that Elon Musk's Twitter recently added LGBTQ terms (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Transgender, Queer) to it's "offensive words" list - meaning that links to tweets with words containing them aren't previewed in twitter DMs and are generally de-boosted (shown to less people) by the website? Did you also know there exists a character called the zero-width non joiner that you can copy and paste in-between letters of any keyword so that the keyword visually looks the same but isn't automatically seen by the algorithm as containing a keyword?
