A couple Random Genji and some kiriko + other headcanons/short story things? Not a full fic or anything but headcannons that kinda flow into a story of some kind. I don't even have a clue how many I've done at this point XD

Second half of this gets a little sadder, and mentions stuff from his Playboy days including drinking and drugs and stuff not much but it's there so still head up.

BUT then I wrote a short cute thing of how I imagine kiriko reunited with genji so it's not all angst and depresso.

Also random Gency here and there! (There's alot not going to lie lol)

And lastly as per always, this is very very rambly as I'm just getting my thoughts written out and there's not much actual order and there might be some jumping back and forth but I tried to keep it as steady flow as my brain would allow. This one is rather long though.

This one actually starts with Dva! (This is partially inspired of a few other head cannons I've seen from people) After she joined OverWatch in between missions whenever she's doing more normal streams that aren't streaming the fights, where she's in her room gaming or doing other streams around the base, she would bring some of the other members onto the streams either they would pop in to say hi or would stay for whole streams. At first it would primarily be the new blood crew, as they had been around either for longer and her Chat had gotten to know them too.

But then after a while chat started to notice these same two people popping in for quite a lot of streams not really ever acknowledging chat but just talking to Dva. They would be giving her food and bringing her drinks and stuff ,making sure that she's staying hydrated ,making sure she's okay, and just all around taking care of her. One of the two was immediately recognized to be mercy which the chat started lovingly referring to as "mom" because in any stream she appeared in even for a couple seconds she was always just taking care of everyone and looking after everyone and reminding her not to stream too long. The second person wasn't immediately recognized, at least by name anyways. Genji wasn't known to the public what his name was, they just knew he was the ninja guy from OverWatch, that they had seen on the news a couple times in some fights like when they took down doomfist or in Paris. And they had especially never heard him talk before this, so all anyone publicly knew about him was there was this omnic looking guy who was a ninja with green lights on him. And after the first few times he popped in to check on Diva bringing her stuff, and way more specific stuff that he knows would be better for her to have during stream or gaming sessions because he himself being quite experienced in the gaming department he knows what kind of snacks or beverages are better to have while still being healthy at least a little. And after these many appearances by this unnamed member they had no idea who he was, Diva eventually explained to her chat that that was Genji and he was a cyborg ninja who looks intimidating (and can be very intimidating) but who's actually a really big sweetheart is very caring and stuff. So considering how Chat had started referring to mercy as mom, they started referring to Genji as dad, which then eventually snowballed into people shipping them on Diva's stream even going as far as drawing fanart of them. Which at this point no one on the base actually knew Genji mercy had a thing going on outside of tracer ,sojourn and Cassidy and kind of Winston but he was mostly oblivious. They mostly knew from before overwatch shut down, from the random dates they went on or the late night conversations and the all-around flirting between the two of them, but none of them knew that they were even more of a thing than before and were even closer.

Moving on to the next head cannon which ties into that one. We know Genji and Hanzo reunited on the 10-year anniversary of Genji's death when he was around 35, and he's 37 now, and the last letter we know of really between the two is when he told her about reuniting with his brother. And we also know from the recent logs from PVE that Genji hasn't actually been at the monastery in a while and hasn't seen zenyatta in a long time and has just been writing him letters. So I personally like to believe in that in that two-year span Genji was wandering around again with ,a new purpose in life this time ,specifically on the mission to track down Angela. Where he eventually found her after about a year or so, because he had no idea where she was, since he left the monastery he didn't have any of the letters that she could have sent in the meantime, specifically one where she mentioned that she was leaving Cairo and going somewhere else. So for about a year he was on kind of a wild goose chase just kind of running around trying to find her eventually he did find her. At this point she was in between her trips to places to help people and was just in her home in Switzerland, which I like to imagine she lives in an apartment.

Which is where Genji tracks her down to, end of instead knocking on the door like a normal person he knocked on her window, because he couldn't be bothered taking the stairs inside and just wall climbed up to her balcony because it was "easier". He brought with him a few gifts including Swiss chocolate which he was able to get much easier now being in Switzerland, and a couple other assorted gifts.

So as Angela was sitting at her desk filling out paperwork at midnight, she heard a knocking on her window which at first she brushed off as the wind but then realized how distinct of a knocking it was. So cautiously she grabbed her blaster from the table she'd been working on all her Valkyrie suit stuff on, quietly tiptoed over to the window peaked through her blinds and didn't see anything except for a faint green Glow. Which definitely confused her at first so against your better judgment she opened the window, poked your head out and was looking side to side couldn't see anything or anyone, balcony completely empty. Until a little ribbon thing fell in front of her face was she immediately recognized and looked up to see Genji dangling from the upstairs balcony Spider-Man style because of course he is. And before she can say anything Genji says a sweet little "hello doctor", and plopped down in front of her perching himself on the balcony wall. Then after 2 seconds of fully registering what's going on she happily yells out Genji's name as she wraps her arms around him. Where he quickly has to grab onto the window / door so they both don't fall off the balcony with the force she have charged at him with. She apologizes, genji says it's fine, they both giggle, Genji then reaches up and completely takes off his mask/helmet, reaches out brushes a loose strand of hair behind her ear and leans in and says "I missed you <3" in a loveing hushed voice. Which mixed with the cheeky smirk on his scarred face makes Angela's face go completely red. Flustered she looks him in the eyes and smiles before saying "I missed you too<3" as she leans in and kisses genji on the cheek making him go so red in the face that even his ears are blushing and steam releases through his shoulder vents. And for Genji can even get any words out Angela pulls him inside like grabbing on to the front of his new hoodie, what she then cheekily but honestly compliments saying how it suits him, and he does the same with her new hair cut.

You then spend roughly the next year living together slowly getting closer and closer and more and more comfortable with each other than they already were (like they were basically dating at this point but just hadn't admitted it) snuggling, doing daily tasks together, when Angela came home from her long shifts at the hospital genji had done all the household chores and had cooked dinner for them both. And where all-around enjoying life to the best of their abilities, considering all the stuff going on in the news, and eventually the recall. Which they desired to answer together, and made their way to Paris arriving just in time to save Winston, tracer and mei along side Reinhardt, Brigitte, and echo.

Back to the Dva streaming thing, once genji and mercy found out dvas chat called them mom and dad they both laughed at it, but also kinda agreed. Genji first said he didn't see it for himself, which almost everyone else chimed in with all the times he has looked after someone, helped them out, made sure they are staying hydrated, looking out for their health (mental and physical) and has overall became someone any of them can talk to for reassurance or guidance. That combined with all the terrible dad jokes. They both eventually accept their roles as the mom and dad friends of the group.

Genji 100% makw some of the worst but the best dad jokes

Some examples of this, like in PVE when Genji checks in on mei to see if she's doing okay, comforts tracer about mondattas death, even him talking about Cassidy about how he hasn't been sleeping and helping him deal with the emotions and memories causing that. I'm definitely also see him befriending Zarya pretty quickly, after not getting off on the right foot with her not trusting him seeing him as part omnic and not knowing if she can trust him because of it, once they step foot into the gym together they instantly become workout buddies, especially considering both of them are frantically trying to help the others not injure themselves while doing what they think are basic workouts. Primarily with mei, Lucio, dva, even Baptiste and then a couple of the others. Lucio on multiple occasions would go into the gym not wearing proper footwear and immediately get sent back out by either Zarya or Genji. And with the people they don't have to help out as much in that way, they both spar or train with the others and help push them when they need it and help them to go easy when they need it (like brig, tracer or rein)

Genji also gives the best massages in OverWatch, primarily to mercy but he does them for everyone else as well. And when someone injures themselves in a non bloody we should probably take you to the medics kind of way he can help bandage up rolled ankles or other pulled muscles and other more athletics based injuries from both personal experience and stuff he's picked up from being around mercy for so long.

And for the third time back to Dva stream thing, there was one time she was doing a cooking stream with Lucio, and Genji happen to walk into the room to see them trying and shopping things and immediately having to dash over there and take the knives out their hands because Jesus Christ they were going to hurt themselves the way they were trying to do it. And after he confiscated the knives he showed them how to properly use them so they wouldn't hurt themselves horribly, and then physically got them to try cutting again this time with his supervision so they could hands on learn how to do it while also having genji there as a safety net to make sure they don't cut their fingers off.

And eventually after a while of convincing Genji eventually came on to one of Diva's dreams for the whole thing and ended up playing games with her which is where she found out Genji used to play video games a lot (and it turns out Genji is better than her, he kicked her butt a few times and then went easier on her but acted like he was still trying so she could feel like she had beaten him and to not humiliate her in front of her stream) and he was better than her at fighting/shooters games but Dva was better in racing/flying/absurd nonsense games(think like gang beasts and fall guys) except for things like Mario kart (or whatever the OverWatch equivalent would be) where they were pretty evenly matched.

And there was one time they tried to play VR only to very quickly realize that Genji could not because he couldn't get the headset over his mask, and even when they finally did get it to stay in place(kinda) he couldn't hear anything through it and it looked ridiculous over his mask, and everything was tinted very green. So dva changed the set up so the camera wasn't facing him so he could take his mask off and properly play, because she still wanted to play with him but didn't want to make him uncomfortable because she knew he wasn't very big on showing his face especially to the hundreds of thousands of people watching.

Dva also introduced him to games like beat saber which he loved, and was very good at, mainly because of all the sword training (even though it wasn't accurate it was definitely helpful)

Now switching gears to some different head cannons, this is where the sad stuff happens!!!! ANGST TIME!!!!

Genji when looking back at his old self (playboy days) is very overly harsh on himself and views himself as a way worse person than he actually was at the time. Looking back at those days with the opposite of rose tinted glasses. Overall just viewing himself as a very mean selfish person when, in actuality he was still a very kind-hearted sweet person like he is now. Back then though he wasn't allowed to show it or would be punished when he did for "being weak". And he also looks back at his Playboy partying days not really acknowledging why he was doing all that. Forgetting the mental state he was in at that point, with his mental state during black watch and the initial years of his time in OverWatch overshadowing the negative emotions he felt back then.

he had no interest with being a part of the family business but also just didn't agree with it, he was drifting from his brother who he used to be almost inseparable from and now it was almost like talking to a stranger with how cold and distant Hanzo seem to have become. Or whenever he went out trying to make friends or tried dating people, either they didn't want to interact with him because they were scared of the fact he was a shimada and believed him to be dangerous, or when they did want to interact with him they only wanted to interact with him so they could use him for his money and status ,or only going after him for his looks and not actually him as a person. then an assortment of other small things which built up only topped off by the ever-increasing stress and pressure put on from his family and Clan elders, and eventually the assassination of his father sending him over the edge into full party Playboy this is the only way he knows how to cope mode.

With him constantly getting drunk, high, or even a combination of both, and just overall being a Playboy by "sleeping" around to try and escape from his reality, to feel something, something that wasn't all the bad things he was feeling now.

The only one who actually knew anywhere close to what Genji was going through or how he was feeling at this time was kiriko. (I don't care what her canonical age says it makes no sense so I'm still sticking with she's a couple years younger than them. So like when genji's 37, she's 32-33 or something) they would hang out with all the time, and she very quickly picked up on his rapidly decreasing mental and emotional state, not knowing how to help other then just being there for him.

When he wasn't drunk or out partying, he was going out around hanamura/kanezeka, primarily to the arcade with kirko. Where she witnessed all the good things Genji would do and how nice he was with people. like when he saw kids struggling at an arcade game, trying their hardest and failing, he would go over and help the kids in whatever way they needed so that they would win. And if the kids had given up and we're starting to walk away, he would go over play the game and win big prize, the go over redeem the prize and then give the prize to the kids. Or when someone was being harassed, attacked or in general being put in danger, he would stand up for them and defend them, using his skills as a ninja too take down multiple of these harassers or attackers with ease, as kiriko would tend to the person in need to see if they had any wounds or in general to see if they're okay. And if Genji did need help in fighting, he would fight side by side with kiriko defending the city together, helping wherever they could.

She just remembers all the joy he would bring to people around the city. Primarily just by doing little things and being a nice person, actions that he would dismiss as not being meaningful or actually good deeds, not being able to see past the part of him which made him tied to one of the most feared and most dangerous yakuzas in the whole of Japan ,and in terms of criminal empires at the time, in a lot of the world. Genji instinctively would have put on a mask of the cocky full of himself spoiled rich kid with a carefree attitude, only ever letting it really drop around kiriko or in these random moments of kind-hearted gestures with locals or complete stragers. Where you could actually see the real him, the real him that he had to hide from the clan because he was seen as weak and undesirable, and overall just not being cut out for the family legacy. Which overtime only weight heavier and heavier on his heart and soul, not being able to see that the locals around him loved and appreciated him. Not seeing the sentiments and opinions that they hold even to this day of Genji, not seeing him as a shimada, but as Genji. The green haired goofball who would get himself into trouble but had a kind heart and was just an all-around good kid, that they never found out what happened to and to their knowledge just disappeared one day, the same day Hanzo left and was almost never seen again, with only the occasional sightings once a year on the same day. And not too long after the brothers disappearances, the rest of the clan will go on too, either gone into hiding, arrested or killed.

The Kind-hearted sweeter quiet but Goofy side of Genji is the side that kiriko remembers, even years later. She doesn't mourn for the loss of the cocky rich Playboy persona who would get into fights to prove he was better and didn't care about anyone other them himself.

She missed her best friend. The sweet guy she grew up with, who happened to be into a family who didn't want him for him. And as much as kirko still looks back on the clan with rose tinted glasses, much like how pharrah looks back on OverWatch, she still remembers what the clan did to Genji. Not just ordering him to be killed, not just his own brother who they both trusted who Genji loved wholeheartedly even though they had grown distant and/or it was never really shown anymore, but for how they mentally and emotionally broke him down over the years. Leading him down a path which he never wanted to take a step down in the first place. A path which he thought was his only way of escape, even if it was temporary.

She remembers all the nights of Genji coming back from being at the club, only for him to come home to angry screaming about how disappointed they are in him, the shame he's bringing to their family, and the countless other heated arguments between him and Hanzo, where Genji hardly able to speak for himself because how drunk/high he was, get frustrated and just storm away to his room not even listening to Hanzo yelling after him. And all the times she would go into his room to find him sitting on the floor in the corner quietly crying, far too drunk to even try hiding his emotions at this point. where she would sit with him and just talk to him for hours as he cried until he passed out. And all the nights she wished she could do more to help him, all the times she regrets not protecting him, and all the times she replays the memories in her head, going through all the different outcomes of things she could have done differently that would result in him still being with her today, and the different lives they could have been living. All things that are not her fault, things that she had no control over, but still keep her up at night. All the times Genji took the blame for something she did to protect her from being punished, all the times he stood up for her and was there for her, even being the one to advocate for her to join him and Hanzo in training despite all the protests from the elders and the uncertainty from Hanzo, his father and her mother, he stood up and believed in her that she was ready, eventually winning them over and allowing her to join.

All these memories of the friend she lost and wished every day that he could come back, that one day he would come knocking at her front door with donuts ,cookies or sweets in hand like he used to do when he would sneak them both sweets when they both really shouldn't have been having sugar, or weren't allowed any because they were in trouble.

She even keeps a bunch of mementos around her apartment that remind her of him. including her first kunai, his headband that he used to wear all the time in training that Hanzo would tell him look stupid but he didn't care, just seeing how annoyed it made Hanzo made it worth it. A bunch of his drawings she framed and hung up that he would do in secret ,that he didn't think were that good but kiriko absolutely loved and would try to tell him they were amazing. A bunch of assorted toys and plushies she keeps on her shelves and desk that they won at the arcade together. Or even how she continues to dye her hair the same shade of green years later because it was the color that she would dye it when they would dye their hair together.

And even though she couldn't have done anything differently....she feels like she failed him. which is one of the reasons she tries so hard everyday to fight for her friends and for the people of kanezeka, because hopefully someday, she can feel like she made it up to him. Now constantly paranoid of losing someone she cares about, terrified she loses someone like she lost Genji. And still wanting to continue the small deeds of kindness that he would do, that he didn't think meant anything but to her and everyone around him meant the world.

Of course at this point she had no idea he is actually alive.

Whenever genji had a free moment in OverWatch, he would be trying to find her/find a way to contact her, and thinking of all the ways that he could go about explaining everything to her and apologizing for not finding her sooner and not being there. With a million thoughts running through his head not knowing how to go about it. Telling Hanzo was one thing because as much as his brother didn't like to believe it he was predictable, Genji knew pretty much exactly how Hanzo was going to react and could guess every single thing he would do the entire meeting, and even though he knew kiriko he knew that she wasn't like Hanzo, kiriko most likely changed so much you know those years, unlike Hanzo who stuck in the past. She didn't know how she would react, if she would hate him, if she would be happy, if she would punch him in the face the second she saw him, A million ways he could go about it and not one he was certain on. After talking with zenyatta and Angela he eventually decided todo what felt right.

(when reading this next part, picture it with the calm happy music from the kiriko cinematic! It adds to the feels)

So on random evening, the elevator doors opened and out walked a man who had never been there before. A man wearing a gray hoodie and joggers, with what looked like a cybernetic hand, with his hood pulled up and a black cloth mask covering his lower face, and from under the hood peeked a couple strands of bright green hair, and in hand where two boxes of doughnuts. And on his way walking to one of the doors he stopped and said hello to the old man who appeared to be the janitor/maintenance man for that apartment building, and a little girl wearing a kitsune mask with a fox plushie in hand. She was sitting on the floor coloring with crayons, where upon closer inspection she was trying a very familiar green haired girl then also familiar blue spirit fox. Smiling under his mask, he bent down to get a closer look at the drawing, which caught the girls attention, initially being a little scared he signed to her telling her that it's okay and he just wanted to compliment her drawing. She shyly thanked him, and then Genji asked what her name was, to which she replied with "little fox" while giggling and then asked what his name was, and he replied with "Sparrow" and told her that he was here to see a friend that he hasn't seen for a really long time. Did they then said/signed their goodbyes, has Genji stood back up bringing the donuts with him and proceeded to walk to the end of the hall. Where he paused, took in a deep breath, then knocked on the door, holding up the donuts so that he couldn't be seeing through the peep hole. And when kiriko open the door, confused and who it was especially this time of night, she looked up as Genji lowered his mask and simply said "hey kiriko"

Can I ask what's your favorite and least favorite canon and non-canon ship for every fandom? I'd like to get to know you better! (Obvi you can choose two or more if you can't decide)

Omg, hi cariño, I gotta say that in some fandoms I don’t really have favourite ships so I’m sorryyyy and I’m sorry for answering the next day, but it was a lot to put together.

Least favourite ship = Orange / Favourite ship = Green

Overwatch

Okay, I’ve never really looked through ships for this fandom, but I do have a little thing going over here

Cannon = Cassidy x Mercy - McMercy / Lena x Emily - Lenily

Non-canon = Genji x Lena - Grencer / Genji x Mercy - Gency

Why = I’m not sure, but going to McMercy I never really liked their dynamic or how they worked it kidna felt a bit too preassured. With Lenily - they’ve been my no. 1 forever since I found out about them - they’re absolutely precious. I don’t think I have to explain Grencer. Gency is just for me really comforting and it’s a nice kind of ship.

But also! I remember when I was younger and watched the animated Overwatch movie there was a scene between Lena and Widowmaker and… I still kidna see it there for some reason 😭

The Maze Runner

There are literally just two canon ships to this so that was a bit of a trouble

Cannon = Brenda x Thomas - Trenda / Thomas x Teresa - Thomesa

Non-canon = Alby x Chuck - Chalby / Sonya x Harriet - Sonyarriet

Why = Honestly I think literally no one agrees with my first point, but when you take Trenda - Brenda would be good with Thomas, but it was in the wrong time as it felt like he kidna used the image of them dating to start to get over Teresa. Thomesa wasn’t healthy a lot later in more movies, but looking at the time before she betrayed them and all it seemed pretty healthy to me, plus I liked the redemption arc between them. Chalby… I’m not sure if I should even explain this, but sure firstly Chuck is 12 years old while Alby is 18 years old and I just see Chuck looking at Alby as an older brother or prehaps a mentor, but definetly not a lover. Sonyarriet was my top 1 and I refused to believe after joining the fandom that they ain’t dating and I still strongly think that if they weren’t dating in the past one of them had a crush on the other.

By the way, when I was younger and first saw the movies and read the books I was loving Avason (Ava x Jason) ship… for some reason as rn I can’t remember any chemistry between them, but I think it’d still be pretty cool if they’d have the like “I like you, but fuck you” or “I like you, but I can’t have you” arc

The Hunger Games

Canon = Katniss x Gale - Everthrone / Finnick x Annie - Odesta

Non-canon = Katniss x Cinna - Cinniss + Katniss x Rue - Rueniss / Katniss x Cressida - Kessida

Why = Now, Everthrone wasn’t fully a canon, but a temporary one yet it still counts - now it’s not ‘cause Peeta is a better ship with her, I don’t like this ship ‘cause very obviously right after the first movie/book Gale was preassuring Katniss about their relationship and from my perspective he didn’t even really care for her mental health after the games a lot. Odesta is in my opinion pure and amazing ship and I’m really glad that they’re canon. Cinniss is just painful for me to even look at - like c’mon that’s just terrible. Rueniss? Fuck off, she’s a child and it’s literally mentioned that she reminds Katniss of Prim (which is her sister) and like… no just no. Now, I can’t really explain Kessida at all, but I just see it there as a nice possibility.

Harry Potter

Canon = Hermione Granger x Ron Weasley - Romione / Harry Potter x Ginny Weasley - Hinny + Scorpius x Albus - Scorbus (idk if it’s canon)

Non-canon = Viktor Krum x Hermione Granger - Krumione + Albus Severus Potter x Delphini Riddle - Alphini + Harry Potter x Hermione - Harmony / Harry Potter x Hermione - Harmony + Draco x Harry - Drarry + Hermione x Fleur - Fleurmione (hear me out-) + Hermione x Ginny - Herminny + Scorpius x Albus - Scorbus

Why = With Romione I pretty much always disagreed with anyone and it may sound mean, but I just simply don’t think that Ron is good enough for Hermione, sue me. Hinny is a pretty interesting ship and in the books it’s a lovely and lively one, but in the movies it’s a bit dead so we’re not gonna take the movies part for this ship. Like I said idk if Scorbus is canon or not, but they had tons of chemistry throughout the book that it can’t be ignored. Krumione was just an offence for me to even think about them being together. Listen, I get why you ship Alphini, but like… no, that’s a no for me - it was rushed, toxic and appeared a bit out of nowhere. I decided to put Harmony into both liked and not as I can see them being together just fine, but thes give off siblings kind of vibe. Drarry is a treasure itself. Now hang on, Fleurmione isn’t that bad of an idea - like a little enemies to lovers. Herminny was my thing since I joined the fandom so no one can take that from me (2 years age gap isn’t that bad).

Arcane

Considering there are only 2 canons I can’t really choose

Canon = Caitlyn x Vi - CaitVi

Non-canon = Jinx x Ekko - idk the name / Jayce x Viktor - JayVik

Why = CaitVi is pretty obvious I think. Idk why people ship Jinx and Ekko so much? Like sure, it’d look fine (ig?), but like there was zero trace of anything happening and it’d be toxic af. JayVik is a canon in my head, tbh.

Divergent

Canon = Tobias x Christina - Tobina / Will x Christina - Chrill

Non-canon = Jeanie x Tris - idk the name / Christina x Tris - Tristina

Why = Tobina felt a tiny bit forced if you ask me and it just wasn’t working out. Chrill deserved more time together and even though Will’s death was important for the plot I feel like they deserved much more time of this pure couple together. Jeanie x Tris is actually a big ship and I just… help I don’t think I have to explain my dislikes for this. This may come off as boring, but I genuinely think that Tristina isn’t a bad idea and it’d actually be pretty interesting.

The 100

Canon = Clarke x Wells (former relationship) - Wellarke + Wells x Sasha - Wellsha / Clarke x Lexa - Clexa + Octavia x Anna - Octanna

Non-canon = Bellamy x Wells - Wellamy / Clarke x Sasha - Clasha + Clarke x Octavia - Clarktavia + Raven x Clarke - Princess Mechanic

Why = Wellarke is obviously beyond repair, but I just wanted to point it out again. About Wellsha I’m gonna be probably a bit mean, but I’m not sorry when I say that Wells wasn’t good enough for Sasha. Clexa was a bit complicated for me to make an opinion about at first, but later when they’re fully together I really like the dynamic and change of behaivors. Octanna will always have my heart and I’m not giving up on my girls ever - it was so pure. Wellamy… don’t even get me started how absurt it feels like for me. Clasha would work gorgerously - especially with Clarke persistent on keeping Sasha safe while the whole camp was against her and chained her up. Clarktavia is something I find hard to defend, but I just see it there (more in the books). Princess Mechanic ship name is actually a canon btw, but I find the arc between them pretty cool and same like Clarktavia it’s hard for me to defend them.

Korralin was also a big no and I always thought of their relationship as a mother & daughter. Korriva… I can’t defend myself here, but I’d just like to see it (even if they’d break up) especially when Korra had to decide between Kuvira and Lin’s sister’s side (I forgot her name).

Alyka was probably the best choice from the canons as I think that Seyka is the type that wouldn’t preassure Aloy into anything, but also would know when and how (after some time) to pull a bit of a restrains in a healthy way as Aloy sometimes needs it. Altra was confirmed as an unrequited love and I think Petra was a bit too forward (especially in game one) for Aloy’s figuring. I can’t really say why I don’t like Erloy as they’d be good together, but I just don’t see it there like that. Taloy is a bit debatable, but overall to make it short she would probably be an ideal girlfriend for Aloy - more than Seyka maybe.

Annaver would never work out and I think Annabeth would be too much for Grover and Grover not enough for Annabeth and I don’t mean it like by qualities I mean it like Annabeth needs someone like Percy and Grover someone calmer. Clarena would maybe clash a bit at first, but I think they’d eventually balance each other out beautifully and it’d suit them together.

Kalena is a big no for me for obvious reason that I think we all know and I’m not sure why we still argue about it. Kassie wouldn’t be that bad - sure they never met, but I think their common randomness (Kate’s winning ofc) would actually be perfect and they would get along so well and before anyone comes to me with them not being close in age let me tell you that 4 years age gap isn’t bad.

Emo-gency Transformation

Most people know Evan Buckley as a fearless firefighter, always ready to leap into action as disaster strikes. But beneath his brave exterior, there was a hidden chapter of Evan’s life that not a lot of people knew about - his immersion in something darker, something that had helped him through his late teens and early twenties before finding his way to firefighting.

It slowly began during Evan’s high school years but really took off by the time that he turned 19. He had been a quiet and sensitive kid, not really knowing where he belonged and parents that didn’t see him, didn’t want to see him, he found himself alone with his feelings. And so he left home to go find a piece of himself.

One day in Peru, months into his journey, while browsing through a record store, he stumbled upon a CD with a black cover adorned with melancholic artwork. The band's name, "Shadowed Hearts," immediately drew him in. Evan purchased the CD and rushed home to listen to it.

As the haunting melodies and heartfelt lyrics filled his room, Evan felt an instant connection to the music. How could he not?

The anguished vocals and emotional guitar riffs seemed to mirror the turmoil he felt inside. It was as though the band's lyrics spoke directly to his soul, giving voice to the pain and confusion he had been harboring for all of these years. The music that he had found quickly made him delve deeper into the emo world and culture.

He dyed his hair black, grew it out too and started wearing dark clothing, adorned with band logos and patches. He discovered a community of like-minded individuals who, like him, used music as a means of coping with life's challenges.

Evan even started playing the guitar, pouring his own emotions into the music he created. He wrote heartfelt songs that spoke of lost love, shattered hopes and dreams and the constant struggle to find one's identity as his parents had never accepted him for who he was. Nor had they ever paid much attention to him. Music became his sanctuary, a way to express what he couldn't put into words. He even joined a band, playing several underground gigs in the emo scene of L.A.

But life has a way of changing people and Evan Buckley was no exception. Somewhere along his journey, still not knowing where he was going or what he was doing with his life, he was faced with having to act quickly as a car accident happened right in front of his eyes.

It made him reevaluate his path and he found himself with a desire to help others and make a difference in the world which eventually led him to become a firefighter.

As Evan threw himself into his firefighting duties, the emo phase of his life gradually faded into the background. He cut his hair, traded his dark wardrobe for a firefighter's uniform, and focused on the bravery and resilience that defined his new profession. Yet he couldn’t deny that his past and his delving into the emo world had changed him into the person that he was today: empathetic, loving and incredibly kind.

Yet he couldn’t help when pieces of his past sometimes slipped through, revealing glimpses of the person that he used to be. Sometimes it was expressions that he used or music that he listened to or ways that he acted that made people question him about it.

One sunny afternoon, years after Evan’s emo phase ended, Chimney was idly browsing the internet, searching for funny memes to share with the crew when he stumbled upon something unexpected.

"Guys, you won't believe what I just found," Chimney called out to the others, his eyes wide with amazement.

The team gathered around his computer, eager to see what had captured his attention. Chimney clicked on a link and revealed a collection of old photographs from an underground music scene in Los Angeles. As they scrolled through the pictures, their jaws dropped.

There, in all his emo glory, was Evan Buckley. His jet-black hair, heavy eyeliner, and the rivet covered vest was unmistakable. He was captured on stage, passionately playing the guitar, and in candid shots with his fellow band members .

"Well, well, Buck. It seems like your past wasn't as secret as you thought." Hen couldn’t help but to chuckle, giving Buck’s shoulders a playful squeeze.

Eddie joined in the laughter. "Man, you were really into this, weren't you?"

“I guess we know what our next team-building activity should be—a reenactment of one of Buck's old gigs!" Bobby said, maybe a tad too enthusiastically.

Buck blushed but couldn't help but smile at their playful teasing. He had kept his emo past a secret for so long, but now that it was out in the open, he realized that he didn't need to hide that part of himself from his firefighting family. In fact, it only brought them closer together. But it didn’t change how it was amusing to them right now.

I had a dream about Gency and it reminded me of you bc I used to love love LOVE Gency (still do!) and your fics are so well written and I am so sad that Blizzard fucked up overwatch (and it’s lore kinda?) over the last couple years :(

Also the way they removed a bunch of Gency interactions and are kinda like..changing their relationship dynamic? And the line in the biography story mode thing about how mercy was genjis cyberneticist?? even though she previously was never mentioned to like… do that stuff and that kinda reframes how they interacted pre-fall and its a minor thing but it really just grinds my gears :(

And pushing more Pharah/Mercy stuff after literal YEARS of gradual Gency buildup in OW1?

Before they started sending each other letters, before the recall, by pure coincidence—maybe before or while Genji was under Zenyatta’s teaching—either way, he isn’t at peace with himself yet. Would Genji try to hide his identity? Would he feel like he isn’t good enough to face her? Or guilty after she goes, missing a one-in-a-million opportunity to connect with her again? Or maybe they do talk, but are obscured and don’t know who the other is until too late? Or maybe they fully know who the other is—what do they say? What do they do? I am super interested to read your take on this prompt if you ever want to write something akin to this!

First of all... WOW! Thank you for taking the time to write all this! And also thank you for reading my gency stuff. I still love them too, for all my disillusionment with Overwatch and its overall storytelling. I definitely share your sentiments with regards to the fact that the revolving door of writers has basically lead to Overwatch no longer giving a shit about continuity and actual storytelling and just defaulting to what they think will suck the dicks of fanon in the most satisfactory manner. And it's not just writing Gency out of existence either--it's about erasing the tragedy of Widowmaker and the complexity of Reinhardt. It's about reducing Gabriel to a shitty radicalized cop. It's about bringing in characters who make no sense chronologically and have fuck all to do with anything and honestly just heighten the truth of the "stereotype+fetish" joke of Overwatch character design (Yes, I'm talking about Kiriko and Illari). It's about bringing in Mauga 4 years late and acting like they're the cleverest damn people in the world for doing it. It's about expending an absurd amount of narrative and advertisement funding and energy on fucking ASHE of all members of the cast.

Okay--okay--I'm calming myself down.

With regards to your prompt, I'm just going to say, I played the general timeline out between Genji and Mercy the way it played out with very specific reasons. The truth was, as far as character development goes, for all of his love of Mercy (as far as my fic continuity goes) Genji simply wasn't in the mental or emotional space to have a healthy relationship with *anyone,* let alone Mercy. And that's also why I have him mentioning hooking up with Cassidy during his time in Blackwatch in the broad general fic continuity, because it's this very fucked up emotional period for both of them and they have this *very strong link* for a time but as they progress to healthier mindsets they both sort of outgrow each other. Genji moves on to Angela and Cassidy moves on to Hanzo and that's *good* because that indicates they've both grown into their own respective people past being in a really painful codependent state.

The *whole point* was Genji getting away from Overwatch, hallucinating Mercy at his lowest point, and realizing *he* needs to be the person to get himself out of his most fucked up mental corners, and then meeting Zenyatta so that he can develop the right mental tools for that. I'm realizing this is a very western interpretation of this, but then again Overwatch slotted in Robot Jesus with Aurora so fuck it, but if I had to break it down into a solid narrative, it's a Divine Comedy where Genji is Dante, Zenyatta is Virgil, and Mercy is Beatrice. You can have your idealized love and your most beloved mentor, but ultimately YOU have to claw YOUR OWN way out of hell.

If he met with Mercy or made contact with Mercy at any point before Zurich exploded in my fic continuity, that wouldn't give catharsis for ANYONE. The only position they would be in, would be for angst wank. And like, YEAH, I *can* write Gency angst wank that doesn't actually go anywhere and doesn't contribute anything to the characters beyond making them feel sad, but honestly I'd rather write my Anarky-Assassinated-President-Lex-Luthor fic. That's a nice fatty mutton bone I can chew on.

Detective Conan-Case Round-Up(Chapter 771-774)

I love Sera so much. Because so far, every case she’s been in has been great. They’ve been engaging and multilayered. Correlation is causation, right? ;) But seriously, her character is just also great, it’s a delight to see her bounce off of the other cast members. It could also be that she’s a new character, but I am leaning towards the fact that I like her as a character, she’s just fun, not too many characters get to be that. So this case revolved around an authour’s apparent suicide. Her brother invites the people he thinks killed her into the Mouri detective agency, and Conan’s wifey senses go off and he calls just in time to get involved with the case. This case developed a bunch of things I’ve been liking so I’ll go into that in-depth past the ‘Keep reading’ below. See ya down there!

Sera, the absolute creep(complimentary), is snooping around the Mouri detective gency looking for Conan. When she learns that Conan’s not there she decides to leave but is interrupted by three amateur mystery writer’s and the brother of a recently deceased successful friend of theirs. Having tricked them into going there, the brother reveals that he believes on of them killed his sister and that he wants Kogorou to solve it so he can murder-suicde with the two of the. Obviously, our karate girls leap into action but this guy came prepared as he knew Ran was good at karate. He’s got bombs strapped to his chest. And that’s the base premise we start off with. Right away, Sera once again grabs my attention and doesn’t let go. She’s after Conan for something but still doesn’t appear to be a bad guy. We even get a confirmation of that as Conan later reveals that he knew what Sera was doing last case when she baited him into bringing out Shinichi. And that he doesn’t think she’s an enemy. Apparently she resembles someone he knows but I honestly can’t remember anyone so I wonder if it’s someone from Shinichi’s past and not the manga canon. But it’s because of these thoughts and the fact that the detective boys saw her go into the detective agency that Conan calls Ran, to ask her about it. Sera, thinking quick, uses the little mascot to keep the phone propped open so Conan can hear and presumably get Shinichi. So here’s another thing that I love about Sera. It’s not a good thing per se, but it is unique, it’s her callousness. At every step of this case where she makes a drastic decision, it’s a very quick decision. Especially in the first chapter where she decides to attack the bomber and place the mascot in the phone. It turned out right, but it easily could have gone the other way. Both times, we see Ran deliberating doing something before Sera charges in, she’s smart but a lot of her decisions don’t seem to be concerned with people’s lives as we also see later on in the case. This contrasts heavily with Ran, who doesn’t even want the would-be murderer to die. I love both of these characters very much but for very different reasons.

Next, we get a lot of crunchy technical stuff where we learn the details and find all of the little clues, do some phoenix wright witness statements and whatnot, before Conan realizes who the killer is. Basically, the sister who died, died in a locked room that could very easily be seen as suicide. Because the sister was texting her brother while referring to her three writer acquaintances as different animals, as well as because the glass he broke through was brushed outside in between him entering and anyone else coming in, he thought it was a murder. His objective, with taking the entire place hostage is to find out what person corresponds to the rat as she was the last one mentioned and probably also the one who killed his sister, and then murder-suicide them, or if the answer isn’t found, blow up all of them. That’s one way to get a kill confirm.

Conan, by going over all of the evidence, finds out who the rat is, but is also found out to be listening on the other end so has to come out as Shinichi. Also curiously, another time Sera has dragged out Shinichi. And that's all the while police and snipers are mobilizing outside. And here is where we get a crescendo of our two lovebirds' best qualities as well as revelations into Sera’s personality. Shinichi is Machiavellian but in an incredibly empathetic way, he manipulates things but does it so that people don’t suffer, as can be seen with his whole setup with Kogorou. A lesser person would have cared about the credit for the cases but it’s his empathy that let’s him do the right thing without seeking credit or anything like that. Sera also loves to manipulate, as can be seen so far in her interactions, but her thoughts aren’t on people as much as Shinichi as is evidence when she lures the bomber into the sights of the snipers and inwardly urges them to fire. Sera seems to be a for-the-greater-good mindset, quite utilitarian. While Shinichi and Ran both refuse to make sacrifices.

We see their incredible empathy and trust in each other as Ran saves the man without alerting him to the danger he was in and Shinichi resolves it peacefully by declaring his sister’s death a murder. We also see another aspect of Shinichi come to light once again, just as we did in the last case, and it’s the bluff. From here on out I’m calling it the “Jimmy Kudo Classic”, we all remember the first ever case where he accuses the wheelchair bound host of jumping across a gap between windows. It’s a distillation of one of Holme’s most famous sayings, “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” For such a Holmes-freak as Shinichi, it’s only appropriate his signature deduction technique is based off of that. Also I hope this method plays into the final case in some way or another. Anyways, getting back to the current case, Shinchi asks the bomber if he read his sister’s book, and when he says no, he convinces the brother that her book was a pseudo suicide letter and gets him to back off, knowing that it was actually a murder, just to save as many lives as possible. Or more accurately, refusing to let anyone die. They then solve the case, figuring out what animals belong to what people, and then figure out that the rat wasn’t actually the killer. A stellar chapter, and what I loved most about it was our two leads's overflowing empathy and their trust in each other.

Also a bonus fun panel, I love how they've just come to accept Conan doing his weird little voices.

Ai is such a mom, shooing them away.

Welp, time to make this long post even longer.

"It's just pixels" in your tags says a lot. For canon dynamics in the canon story, I don't want predatory age gap grooming for a lesbian character being romanticized nor normalized by the narrative.

I don't need Fareeha to be uwu wholesome in story, I just need the canon to not fetishize/romanticize abuse lol. (And frankly, Pharah needs a rewrite because what do you MEAN Pharah is canonically a Helix 'skycop' militant for hire after her history with Overwatch/Ana... and the fact Pharah is First Nations and Egyptian??? It's distasteful. Not to mention her VA...)

Pharamercy is not a HEALTHY dynamic if a 17 year old Angela met a 12 year old Fareeha and Fareeha grew up around Overwatch to the point Cassidy(who is the same age as Mercy) was so involved that Cass was like a brother to her. Just like it would be incredibly creepy if an 18 year old Angela met a 13 year old Fareeha. (PS: Gency isn't healthy either! This isn't me defending one ship over another.)

You keep saying it's not a big deal. If you saw this happen irl where an 17/18 year old watched a 12/13 year old grow up, then a decade+ later dated, and you think nothing odd of it....? You need to do some MAJOR reflecting bc you are NOT surrounding yourself with safe people if you do that. This dismissal of the dynamic isn't funny, it's genuinely disturbing. There's millions of other people in the world, no excuses. This is how fiction can impact real life, if you genuinely are misinformed about what is and is not healthy.

Moira x Mercy is also something that should never be canon as a "cute/for the drama" ship bc thier dynamic would be abusive. If it's handled as abusive canonically, okay I guess, but it doesn't add much to the story other writting methods could handle instead im going to be honest. (Fandoms ship whatever,, i am talking CANON here). Moira is over a decade older than Mercy and they have extremely conflicting ethics. Cassidy was 17 when he joined Blackwatch btw (he is the same age as Mercy), so Moira would have been mid 30s when Angela finally joined Overwatch in her early 20s.

The human adult brain doesn't finish development until mid 20s btw, let's use around 25 as a rough estimate of a true biological adult human.

Drawing pixels on a screen doesn't actually commit the crime it depicts, but it sure as hell can be used once posted online/in media to spread disinformation and be used as a tool to desensitize and normalize abusive behavior. I am EXTRA critical with LGBT+ rep because I do NOT want this community to be constantly associated with abuse because of some stupid fetishist on the writers team. Mercy as is shouldn't even be in a relationship portrayed as "healthy" until she handles her abandonment issues that have consistently made Mercy fold her morals/ethics. (She gave her biotech to Overwatch on the stipulation it's not used for harm, but then Torbjörn makes Ana's biotic rifle... and Mercy STILL STAYS with Overwatch(the funding mostly)??? Obviously a flaw there.)

Am I missing something because Mercy was an older teen when she met kid Fareeha?? Cole and Angela are THE SAME AGE.

This is the main reason Pharah x Mercy NEVER sat right with me, even back in ow1, bc the two met/knew eachother when Pharah was just a kid(12) and Mercy was nearly an adult(17). And now official media is making it out like modern day ow2 Pharah has a thing for/with Mercy? Uh????

Plus they had Baptiste mistake Pharah and Cole as being together for NO needed reason (not a respectful way to treat found family sibs in writting, nor a lesbian character, plus the first meeting age gap between Cole and Fareeha is the same gap as Fareeha and Angela=gross), this set up was done ONLY to make space for Fareeha to say "No, definitely not. Cole and I have known eachother for a long time. He's like a brother to me. Besides, I am a lesbian."

...And not to be picky but the "I am a lesbian" here reads like "I am a gay" which uh... awkward/dry phrasing strikes yet again in ow short stories, it seems.

Congrats to the Bi Baptist and Lesbian Pharah confirmations, but ong if OW is actually sticking to this gross age gap first meeting script for Fareeha and Angela that is a HELL NO from me. We do NOT want problematic aspects in Lesbian/WLW/Saphic rep, thanks.

me thinking about the fact that even if genji and angela aren’t together romantically they canonically send each other letters and give each other chocolates on valentines day and have a deep respect and appreciation for each other in canon and nobody can take that away:

People I think Kiriko will get along with

Because of my previous post on Kiriko I started thinking about this so here we go. I personally believe that Kiriko would take a bit longer to warm up to Overwatch as a whole because they are kind of responsible for what's happening in Hanamura, Kanezaka and the surrounding areas, but here are the people I think she would click with the most.

(This is mostly people she doesn't interact with in game)

Cassidy

I feel like his general personality is just easy to get along with but also he's one of the few characters who acknowledges the pain Overwatch cause in Hanamura. I feel like one of they're first interactions would be Cassidy apologising for what he did then trying to help the Yokai as much as he can. I also think that like Ana, he'd see a lot of himself in Kiriko.

Zenyatta

Again, Zen is just easy to get along with. I also feel like Genji would have mentioned Kiriko at some point. Kiriko would definitely ask for some embarrassing stories.

Genji fears the day Kiriko, Zenyatta and Cassidy meet, they all know too much.

Mercy

Kiriko is a Gency shipper and you will not tell me otherwise.

All the younger Recruits

They're all similar in age and personality, also she interacts with them in game and seems to get along with most of them.

Okay, I’m-a rant because I’m mad.

TL;DR: The old lore was GenjixMercy, but the new lore designer has decided that continuity doesn’t matter and that grooming is actually okay because his friend’s ship gets to win, while aggressively attacking and blocking fans for the pushback on Twitter. This is after all of the other Overwatch backlash in which fans have said that at least the lore is still good/fun/interesting, now being catered to by someone who has Pharmercy fans as friends instead of continuing lore as-is.

I will start with: I am a queer lady who likes queer ships. HOWEVER. They are erasing the evidence of a straight ship with a queer ship, which would be FINE if it was a story thing, because stuff happens in life. However, the story and lore that is already established makes this ship not queer, but straight-up grooming.

Some lore, by Michael Chu (former Senior Designer of Lore for Overwatch)

So in Overwatch, there is a straight ship called Gency, or EmerGency, between Mercy, the medic, and Genji, the cybernetic ninja. It’s honestly very cute, as the story between them goes:

Genji, the second son of a mob boss, is embarassing the mob family, and is “killed” by his brother. In reality, he is stabbed within an inch of his life, and left to die. Overwatch, the multi-national team of heroes, finds Genji half-dead, and manages to save his life with experimental cybernetics implanted by the medic Mercy. He hates her, hates his implants, hates his life, wants to die.

But he’s also pretty pissed at his brother, so he joins Overwatch and begrudgingly begins to learn how to use his cybernetics to train and become a hero for good, to both get back at his Mafia family, and specifically to fight his brother again. During this, there is a lot of physical therapy (professional, not flirty) where they talk about a lot of things, including the state of the world at war, cybernetics, family, redemption... And it’s implied that they get a very trusting relationship out of everything.

However, Genji is still grappling with his identity as a mostly-cybernetic person, so he leaves Overwatch to go train with the omnic monks (that is, sentient robot monks, including another champion named Zenyatta) to come to terms with being half human and half omnic. During this, Mercy and Genji exchange letters, and in many voice interactions are either flirting, caring about each other (crying each other’s names if one of them dies in battle), or teasing each other. It’s all very above-board, very sweet, and heavily implied. There’s even two Valentine’s Day interactions, which other characters do not have. In fact, the only other character with an interaction (when this debuted in 2019) was Hanzo, Genji’s brother, chiding him for buying chocolates.

Cut to now. Michael Chu has left Overwatch and Blizzard, and now we have a new Senior Designer of Lore named Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie. Gavin (his name is long, forgive me) has been aggressively blocking everyone on Twitter who mentions Gency, which at this point is implied canon as far as interactions/comics/background goes, and aggressively promoting Pharmercy, which is Pharah and Mercy. It has been noted that this person is friends with an aggressive Twitter user ClearTogether, who has been noted for being toxic with fans of whatever isn’t her ship, and has explicitly been catering to them.

There is also evidence that this non-employee fan has been given lore and game updates that have yet to be released,

Now, the problem with this other than the weird fan thing, is that Mercy has known Pharah since she was a kid.

Everyone in this image is an adult with the exception of Pharah, the little girl.

Now, that’s fucking creepy. Mercy is like 20 in this photo, and Pharah is no older than ten. And while it has been like fifteen/twenty years since this photo was taken (evidenced by the fact that Reaper (the hooded guy) Ana (arms around Pharah) Soldier (Blonde guy next to Ana) Reinhardt (muscles) Torbjorn (beard) and Cassidy (cowboy hat) are old enough to be mostly gray, people ship Pharah with Mercy because A. They are good together in team comp, and B. Mercy ages slowly due to her healing tech.

But aging slowly is just biologically. She is still, canonically-in-human-age, much much older. She has many voice lines toward Pharah that comment on A. Working with her mother/how proud her mother is of her, and B. How much Pharah as grown since she was a little girl. Another controversy is, some of these voice lines are being taken out.

I’ve done the research, but they have more, and it’s really creepy to see this being pushed as something sweet, especially since we know if Mercy was a dude, we’d all be crying foul. (Also Overwatch has plenty of canon queer characters *without grooming in them*! Soldier is queer and has a partner. Tracer, a younger hero, is a lesbian and her girlfriend Emily has shown up in comics. (She is not a hero, and neither is Soldier’s partner, so they are not shown.) Lifeweaver is a new champ that is written as an MLM (man loving man, not multi-level marketing, lol) so they are aware that representation is important. (You can still bitch about Overwatch dropping new representation whenever a new scandal comes up, because fuck Blizzard.)

....Honestly, the reddit will have more to say that I can, because I’m really just reporting what I’ve read there, and I know people will come at me which is annoying because I am JUST THE MESSENGER, but it is what it is.

Say what you want about Sega and Sonic Team with ships, at least they're not Blizzard.

Mildly amusing head cannons featuring Genji, Hanzo and kiriko (with some brief Gency and phariko at the end)

Since in being a ninja you have to be able to go about undetected, be able to blend in with your surroundings, even disguise yourself and be convincing when doing so. So in order to make sure the trio were skilled in this department in between their ninja training and the education the clan was providing they would get sent to acting and drama classes. They would go by fake names so no one was able to pick up on the fact they were shamatic clan members, and this was easier to do then it may seem as none of them were known to the public of even existing. As part of the clans thing was that they would keep all of the members born into the clan within the walls until they were 18, which once they're 18 they can leave on their own, the trio we're giving an exception to this occasionally but only if they were being escorted by a senior member of the clan or sojiro shimada himself, but even then they did not leave the grounds of hanamura, with only kiriko ever going into kanezeka.

And because of these classes the three are really good at acting and just slipping into roles when need be. Which means if it were for the fact Genji was a red-eyed rage powered murder ninja during black watch he would have been the perfect person to go undercover as the waiter instead of Cassidy, as part of their acting was being able to mimic accents which all three of them can do relatively well.

Genji never once mentioned this though, and it was only after kiriko joins OverWatch after Hanzo had already joined as well, and casually mentions how she finds old recordings of genji's performances on one of her old devices and everyone else is so confused at what she means. Kiriko then goes into excited annoying little sibling mode with "OH MY GOD YOU DON'T KNOW GENJI DID THIS?!?!" Ask Genji is slowly starting to panic with that panic rapidly picking up pace the further kiriko gets into explaining, even worse so for Genji because 90% of his performances where musicals or just him singing in general. This revelation is even more shocking to people like Cassidy and Angela who he had told that he was not good at singing, only to come to find the Genji has the voice of an angel or at least had.

Even with the cybernetics he still can sing really well but it's just so different from what he was used to before, that even with his acceptance of his body and improved mental state it still just doesn't fully sit right with him. He likes his voice now ,so it's not even like back in black watch when he only talked when absolutely necessary because he hated hearing his voice, or that he still hates the sound of his own voice, but rather anytime he goes to sing internally(to himself) he still pictures what he used to sound like when he was in his early twenties and not the raspier Metalalicy autotuned version of his voice now. With the only times anyone has heard Genji singing since being when he intentionally sings bad or over does it for comedic effect.

This then of course leads into kiriko playing a bunch of the recordings of genji's performances with the smuggiest look on her face as she stares Genji directly in the eyes the entire time they're playing with a facial expression only describable using >:3 . So in retaliation Genji leaves and comes back with the recordings of kirikos performances, and to continue on the trend of annoying little siblings also hanzos.

While kiriko did a mix of plays from around the world mainly more Western culture with the occasional Japanese one, with one particular picture Genji showed being kiriko in one of those 1950's pink poodle skirts complete with an ascot to match and her hair done up in a hairstyle screaming the 50's. Hanzo did primarily quite traditional Japanese performances, primary kabuki. So in the old photos from these performances, falkirko was wearing a range of different costumes, Hanzo was in full traditional attire, makeup ,masks everything.

And now for some Gency stuff,

Later on as they were going to bed (Genji literally walked into Angela's office and without a word just and just scooped her out of her desk and carried her to the bedrooms. she started off wiggling and kicking to trying to get him to drop her, but since she was so tired from sleeping for far too long she eventually caved and just started snuggling into him as he carried her. Also the ninja strength combined with the additional strength from being a cyborg kind of helped in Genji not letting go like he was unfazed the entire time, except for under his mask he was trying to hide the giggles building up which men under the mask he just had the biggest dorkiest grin but Angela couldn't see that currently) Angela turned to Genji and said how she couldn't sleep because she wasn't tired (a very very blatant lie), and with a smirk on her face asked if Genji could sing her a lullaby to help her sleep, with a sigh and a chuckle Genji agreed. So as they lay in bed cuddled into each other, Angela's head on genji's collarbone area, Genji quietly sang her one of the only lullabies he could remember off the top of his head which was one his father used to somewhat sing to him and Hanzo when they were very little. And between her already incredible exhaustion, the sweet quiet vocals, Genji running is hand through her hair, and the hum in reverberations from within genji's chest/cybernetic throat she passed out almost immediately.

Meanwhile, pharah was trying her absolute hardest to get her hands on that picture of kiriko, using all the compliments in the book and every tactic she could think of, well kirko is trying her best to resist these "torture methods" to get her to give her the picture.
