at gen con yesterday i met someone dressed as ankarna while i was dressed as kristen applebees from fantasy high junior year and i can now truthfully say:

i met god and they gave me a sticker of a smiley face sun and a packet of spider-man gummies

It was also DnD’s 50th anniversary so they had displays of the original shit and older versions of the dnd players/dungeon/monster manuals. Which I nabbed a couple of photos of their displays.

Very neat stuff. I am sad however that I didn’t see a lot of cosplayers this year. Mostly a bunch of nerds. It was really nice though that new faces were coming and enjoying their first con. I do regret wearing so many layers too. It was toooo fucking hot. I do this every year. Someone yell at me next year before Gen con. Good golly I was melting. Especially in my zombie Carl cosplay. My improvised Clown fit and Venom SpiderGwen were the least layers but it was still unbearable in the heat and in the crowded halls. I need to bust off all my summer cosplay looks for next year. I have my cosplay sketchbook filled with ideas. Might work on those for next year. It was really fun though. Loved hanging with my cosplay group even though they all chickened out. I’m looking at you @dropoutdaisy. Jk love you but also meany. Jk or am I? Might post more about the experience later idk. It was my third year there and not much has changed so might not. But I do need to show the back of my vest because the back piece was a bitch to sew. Maybe my prop for my Inkyboy cosplay too idk.

So, uh, about our Gen Con workshop capacity...

Gen Con is next week (eek!) and as usual, we're doing a full day of hands-on workshops and a full day of educational seminars.

Not as usual, something went wrong with the form when we submitted our casting workshop, and it made 100 tickets available instead of the 36 we'd intended it to be capped at. (That workshop requires so much in the way of materials, prep work and setup, and 36 is already a lot for me and a single assistant to handle. When I learned a few days ago that we had 92 people registered for it, I maaay have had a minor panic meltdown.)

But we're coping with that; I'm rush-shipping extra materials in, and we've brought on extra help so we can make it work. What it means, though, is that they've put us in a larger room than we otherwise would have been in. While our Featherweight Cosplay (props and armor) and Gamer Jewelry workshops had only 36 tickets available through the registration system, we're going to be in a room that seats 100 people. We might as well use the space.

TL;DR we will take more generics at the door than usual this year for Featherweight and Gamer Jewelry. If you wanted to sign up for one of those workshops but were not able to because it was sold out, bring generics, and we will take as many people as we have materials for. (I always bring extras.)

Gen Con 2024 - TGC Sponsored Events

The Game Crafter is not exhibiting at Gen Con this year, but we did sponsor 3 game design events there that are hosted by our friends at Ferris State University. We donated a nice assortment of board game pieces, blank prototyping components and promo cards for attendees to use.

The first two events are "Intro To Tabletop Game Design" sessions and Ferris State University was kind enough to share the presentation for anyone who couldn't get tickets into the sold out sessions. The third event is a "Rapid Game Design Prototyping" session.

Gen Con Indy 2024 is next weekend. I like all the purdy prize cards.

But mostly I hope more is revealed regarding Duskmourn. I am getting so hyped on the modern horror set. But I know a lot of MTG there is going to be about Bloomburrow. Still, I want to see what kind of Nightmares and Horrors and Cellarspawn that Duskmourn will have.
