The Seven Sisters

I carved this linocut to depict the greek myth of the seven sisters.

Long ago, the seven daughters of Atlas were relaxing around a pond when they were spotted by the great hunter Orion. The Pleiades ran from the man for seven years until Zeus had mercy on the sisters and decided to help them. He turned them into birds and hid them in the stars. Unfortunately, Orion was later positioned in the stars behind them to continue his chase forever.

With this relief print, I also experimented with using a gel plate to add color in the background. This was just a sample from my first test, but there will be more to come.
