The rug is almost finished!!! I think I’m going to continue the darker purples just a little bit longer and then bring it to an end

Trying out one of my new Christmas present tension rings and suddenly the way everyone else crochets (mine usually looks like a left handed knitter is trying to crochet) is much easier to do!
Also starting to understand why all those tik tok crocheters can craft at the speed of light now.
From the original pile of colours (22) we’re now down to 8 to finish this thing off, not bad!

Good news: I finished the sweater.
Tumblr media
Bad news: I’m knitting from a pattern I reconstructed based on another sweater I knitted last year adapted from a pattern my mom got in the 80s, and I missed a key detail - originally I used 2 different needle sizes - when I reconstructed the pattern by looking at the sweater from last year, so…. It’s not too small per se, but it doesn’t fit the way I wanted.
And there’s no point frogging it because of all the color changes, so it’s time to start over.
On the bright side, this was a stash busting project, and the first go didn’t use nearly as much yarn as I hoped, so I can totally make another one.

Clearing my fabric stash yesterday with a bestie and look what I found. A whole ass quilt top that I hand pieced...and then folded up and forgot about.
Am I gonna finish it?
Nope. I was in my stash to plan another quilt with a baby deadline attached. So back in the box this guy goes.
Next time.

#couture #renaissance #chapeau #stashbuster

She late but she here! This is my temperature square for January 2023, I'm using it as a stash buster so there are multiple shades of the same colour. It would look better with one shade but I can't justify buying anymore wool and it's only for me anyway, I don't care I just want it to wrap around me on all those pink days 🥶 #stashbusting #stashbuster #temperatureblanket #temperatureblanket2023 #crochetersofinstagram #crocheting #crochet #crochetaddict #crochetgrannysquare #crochettemperatureblanket (at Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpxUY5CN18o/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Brought the Eternal WIP/End of the Yarn Rug 2 out to play and she’s getting a decent size however The Math remains…. Not Mathing folks…. do I care all that much? Not really as we’re mostly ok except from the one bastard wrinkle which is just going to have to become a pleat next round. Hazards of winging it!
I do love how I can use this to chart all the things I’ve worked on in the past: here’s the leftovers from my colleague’s Halloween witch back when I worked in the fabric store, there’s the sparkly red leftovers from mountains of charity poppies, here’s the weaving frenzy that led to Too Many Scarves, there’s the last bits of tinsel yarn I was given as a gift that I’ve been using as Christmas twine (because I won’t sully myself with it anywhere else) all becoming one tapestry of the last four years of my life, still currently as tiny rug status.
She is becoming too big for her box though….

Notes on Knitting Stashbusters by Fiona Goble

My quest to use some mini-skeins continues. Will this book finally have a pattern I want to use?
Not in the mood for suspense, so no, I did not find the magic project for the yarn I want to use. But I did see some really cute stuff!
The categories of patterns are "For the Home," "For Baby," and "Bits and Bobs." That last category, honestly, half for the home as well.
All the projects are definitely small. You're not likely to use an entire ball's worth of yarn on any one of them. Some of the patterns are absurd, but in a way that brings a smile to my face.
The patterns are pretty straight forward. You'll need to know some increases and decreases, and I think I saw a bit of cabling here and there, but it might have just been a stitch pattern. Hoopla struggled with putting pictures in consistent ways.
So the patterns mostly really do use scrap yarn. That's pretty great, and there's a whole section on yarn substitution. On the other hand, I'm not sure how much gauge matters on a lot of these. So that gets you a lot more freedom in your yarn subs.
My only real peeve is that the patterns don't just say what the yardage used by the pattern is. Mostly, they say the yarn in much the same way you'd see for larger projects. I don't really care how many grams the original ball of yarn is unless you're also going to tell me how many thingies you can make with each one. So you might be setting yourself up for a game of yarn chicken depending on your pattern and the size of your leftovers. IDK, maybe y'all are better at that guessing game than me.
