Open: anyone test muse: han seojun, a manga-ka who focuses on shounen anime (writes BL light novel as a side-kick projects)
"Is my editor pushing it?" The manga-ka has been losing his precious sleepover (not that he has enough of it to begin with) with this stupid re-sketch and re-writes. "He thinks me killing off a major character will make fans angrier but that's... the point?"

Hey can you write a fic where wei wuxian hears lan zhan's inquiry in the burial mounds and follows it back to gusu.
It should be hurt and comfort and a happy ending.
Setting can be after the fall of Lotus peir or any other. I just want hurt/comfort for them.
It was dark and cold, which was confusing to him, because when you think about it, darkness and coldness is just absence of light and warmth, and he could not remember being anything but cold and in dark. To be fair, he could not remember being a ‘him’ either, but he somehow had the notion he was a ‘he’. Like the person who reminded him of light and warmth also reminded him of being himself, and if he ever let go of that, he would truly cease to exist.
So, Wei Wuxian existed. He was not alive, but he was not truly dead either. Neither was he a ghost or a spirit. He existed somewhere in between life and death, the way a sliver of air exists between the pages of a closed book. And anytime he felt like he was forgetting who or what he was, a voice that sounded like warmth and light called out, ‘Wei Ying!’ So, he remembered who he was, and he waited for the voice to find him and take him away from the crowded emptiness of his non-existence.
******
Lan Xichen stood staring in the darkness with his back resting against the door. He remembered standing like this a long time ago, but that felt like a whole lifetime ago. What would Mother say if she could see Wangji like this? Would she be disappointed at Xichen for failing him? For not looking after him? Would her eyes have the same silent judgement that Shufu tried to hide desperately?
The music came to a slow stop. Devoid of the hauntingly lonesome melody of Enquiry, the silence was crushing.
“Come in,” Wangji sounded tired.
Emotions were not a luxury Xichen could afford to openly show anymore. He never got the opportunity to grieve their father. Never came to reconcile with the loss of his best friend. Instead, he was thrust into the position of the leader of a sect in turmoil. But seeing his brother hunched over his guqin like this made him want to scream. Wangji was always on the lither side, but now he looked practically gaunt. The hollows under his eyes were glistening in the candlelight.
“You need to stop,” his own voice sounded too harsh to himself. “He is not answering. He is not coming back. You can’t keep doing this.” You can’t keep doing this to me -remained unsaid.
“No wrong,” Wangji mumbled.
“Sorry?”
“Never did anything wrong. Followed all the rules. Was punished. Why?”
Why? Lan Xichen would like to know too. Why would people fall in love with ones they were not meant to be with? Why would they lose the people they love? How were they supposed to wake up, smile through the day and then go to bed like every moment of existence without them was not excruciating?
He sighed, “Go to bed, Wangji.”
But Wangji remained motionless in his seat, like a stone statue in the flickering light. Xichen rushed out of the room. A part of him wanted to escape, to run away somewhere his brother was not wasting away, where his parents’ tragic legacy didn’t follow his every step, where he still had his friend to rely upon, but he had a sect to run and another one to manage from distance. So, he dragged his feet towards the Han-shi.
******
The candlelight continued to flicker. Lan Wangji was trying to focus on the paper in front him, but whoever oversaw teaching JingYi calligraphy was an incompetent fool, and he could not, for the life of him, decipher if the boy meant to write never or severe. His husband was lying beside him, head on his lap and trying to roll a strand of his hair around his finger.
“Er-gege!”
“Yes?”
“Have you ever thought of me?”
“Always think of Wei Ying.” In fact, now he wished he did not have reports to read and grade so he could think about his husband some more.
“No, I mean, you know,” Wei Wuxian faltered.
Lan Wangji put the paper down. His husband was never shy or squeamish. If he was hesitant to talk about it, it must be difficult for him to bring up.
Confronted with his steady gaze, Wei Wuxian finished his sentence, “You know, when I was dead. Did you think of me?”
"Why does Wei Ying ask that?"
Wei Wuxian rolled so his face was completely hidden in Wangji's lap. From there, he mumbled, "I don't know. I just seemed to remember seeing you like this, sat in the dark, calling out to me. But I could not answer back. It felt like there was miles between us, and I was drowning in molten lead, so I couldn't speak, I couldn't reach out to you, couldn't touch your face. I could just see you cry, but not wipe your tears away."
Lan Wangji thought about the nights he spent playing enquiries. The little sounds outside his door from xiongzhang shifting weight from one leg to other. The curious gaze of Sizhui looking at his shredded fingers. The almost pitying looks shifu cast at him before running away. But Wei Ying does not need to know that. Wei Ying needs to be happy and giddy and laugh without a care in the world so the sunlight can catch on his irises and his hair can swing with every step and Wangji would never tell him anything that would cause him to look sad. Especially sad for Wangji. So, he bent down to kiss the tip of Wei Ying’s nose and said, “Must be just a nightmare. Enough paperwork for tonight. Let’s go to bed, hmm?”

Rough and tough we play hard | DREAM 8lace | EP.1
Click Below to See the Video
(italic dialogues are spoken in english, bold dialogues are spoken in chinese. this is just a little something to celebrate dreamscape's release!)
while they’re walking up to the house, hannah and chenle have their arms linked together
they’re just watching everyone in amusement
inside the actual house, she sees haechan lying down on the couch
“stay still”
she plops herself down, head on his stomach and feet over the arm of the couch
he grunts at the impact then starts laughing
“stop laughing! my head is shaking”
he laughs harder before telling the other members to move away from the window
they both get up to look at the view with the others
she laughs when they point out the sound team and cleans up the toys they were playing with
“GUYS COME HERE” “GEGE CALM DOWN”
chenle laughed the hardest at that
while everyone gets on the tub, she waits then decides to stand in the back next to haechan who she asks a question to
“why are we doing this?” “we listen to renjun”
when they gather to discuss the survival game, she crosses her arms and looks at everyone
“so do i get to play? or does this count as part of taeyong oppa and hyuck’s “no violent games for hannah” list?”
jaemin throws an arm around her shoulders
“no physical contact, so you’re playing” “damn”
haechan fixes the beanie on her head while helping her into the gear
she bounces slightly in place, moving to keep warm while the instructor tells them what to do and the boys ness around
once in, she hides behind one of the wooden boards and fixes her gloves before holding her gun
“i am not going grocery shopping”
she gets up and spots mark, shooting him from the back and hiding again
“wait…. hans! was that you?”
she stood up, shooting him continuously until he dies before he could kill her
“dude!” “every man for himself, mark!”
she actually moves forward
there a clips if her shooting renjun and jaemin before she hides again and sees chenle
“noona! noona, let's be allies?” “sure thing, chenle”
she and chenle go back out into the field and take down jeni and renjun again
she’s in the middle of running away from haechan when she realizes
“where’s jaemin?”
she looks ahead and sees jisung looking up in confusion, then sees jaemin shooting from near the rest area for spectators
she and haechan exchange looks for a moment then haechan shoots her, effectively killing her
she gave him an incredulous look before haechan laughed and ran away
there’s more clips of her shooting and being shot at before the instructor calls them over
when haechan doesn’t call her name, she grins, then he says those he called goes home
“are you kidding me, hyuck?” “haeeun-ah, i trust you”
she sighs and loops her arm through chenle’s in solidarity
in the car, she’s the one in the driver’s seat
when mark asked why he chose the three in last place to go home, she scoffed
“hyuck was being petty for variety because of our cheering” “what?”
she left it for chenle to explain as she buckled her seatbelt
when mark turned the camera to chenle in his frustration, it caught her smiling fondly at the younger boy and gently brushing his cheek
she started the car
“you three talk amongst yourselves, don’t distract me while i drive”
jeno opened a vitamin drink and passed it to her before she pulled out of the parking lot
“wait, hannah, what are you cooking today?” “i can make hotteok for us to snack on, but is there anything you guys want as a meal?” “how about a soup?” “hmm… does yukgaejang sound good?” “sounds great” “good, now don’t distract me!”
she pulls out of the parking lot while the other three continue debating what else to cook
when they arrived at the store, chenle walked over to her side of the car and opened the door for her
she looked at chenle attentively while he talked about his sunglasses
“lele, i told you not to wear your sunglasses at night, didn’t i?” “they’re a necessity, noona”
then it fades out and shows clips of the next episode

Thoughts I had during TGCF S2 Ep 3
Let’s make the best of Summer Vacation
CW: Past trauma
Previously on TGCF…
-We’re back in Ghost City
-It’s a Ghoulish mob!
-The same bandaged boy from episodes 2-4 in S1
-Thank you Qianqiu
-Riot! Riot!!!
-The same old cartoonishly violent dust cloud with people fighting in it, classic
-Qingxuan’s face XD
-Yep it is him
-Oh no he doesn’t like touching
-Yeah he does know the kid
-‘Oh joy’ is right!
-A chase!
-Oh no! Not the mask stall!
-Got any Yuan on you Xie Lian?
-It’s the Blue Spirit from ATLA (that’s the first thing that came when I first saw the waning moon officer)
-That guy has a red lantern shaped eyeball for a head
-Oooh the Ghost city outskirts
-It’s Yubaba’s manor from the Spirited Away movie My sis’s quote: Xie Lian! Don’t give anyone your true name!
-The manor’s interior feels like the fancy restaurants I’d go with my extended family Sis: Yeah except for the dancing ladies
-This is giving Bollywood vibes
-It’s your man!
-Oooh a flashback! 800 years ago…
-Those maids are wearing Hanfu reminiscent of the Han Dynasty style
-That’s Alexis Tipton
-“If a foil palace falls it can be rebuilt, but if a son falls ill it won’t be so easy to put him back together again” That is some solid advice
-He looks and sounds adorable! “I hate it when they fall apart!” That complain letter ties in with what happens when he’s older…
-Does anyone know who voices Child!Xie Lian?
-His mother’s design is also inspiration for one of my ATLA OCs
-This was me with Kapla blocks, colorized
-It was a few days ago!
-It’s the same music from Ep 9 in the Sinner’s pit
-The shots of Hualian together!!! Those are the best crumbs!
-It’s the engagement ring from Ep 12!
-“Xie Lian you wound me! You think I’d go to a brothel?” My reaction: …A soup place? (Futurama reference, it’s in one of the revival eps)
-Hua Cheng: Brothels, bad. Interior design, good.
-“I haven’t had a home for the past 800 years…” that line hit hard.
-Hong Jue again!!!!
-“Always how dangerous” 10/10 best flirting
-Flashbacks from S1 eps 3-4
-You gotta love Hua Cheng’s commitment
-Good shot of the Ghost masks
-Hua Cheng’s quote on power is secretly inspiring
-And he accomplished what Ling Wen couldn’t in mere seconds!
-Not so rough Waning moon officer
-Still touch aversive
-“Who am I to deny your wish?” *fans myself non stop*
-Great. Now I’ve got a craving for dragon fruit, strawberries and mango slices
-“Yong’An.”Oh no his answer triggered XL’s PTSD
-Everything really did change when Bai Wuxiang attacked
-That spiral effect
-To quote on meme made for S2 on tumblr:
Xie Lian: It can’t be! That boy’s homeland shouldn’t be Yong’An!
Hua Cheng: Yeah, yeah Gege, Let’s get you to sleep.
(My older sister loved that reaction, that’s for sure)
-The sword’s eye woke up!
-When the house is so well decorated you forget about the mission…
And my older sis would also say: Now he’s draping himself
-The demonic chanting he does while dashing around the manor
-It is Yubaba’s manor from Spirited away
-That was close!
-He just did Yor Forger’s ceiling jump from Spy x Family
-It’s a 12
-Yeah he’d just end up with snake eyes the whole time
-He’s onto you Xianle, best headcanon I’ve got is that Xie Lian is a terrible liar.
-“Useless idiot” yep keep it coming with the Qi Rong roasts
-There’s a Dragon relief on the door
-It’s the earthbending sound effect from ATLA when the huge stone door closed
-This brings me back to the very first Ep when XL defeated the demon at Yinian bridge
-Man, Imagine Sokka in Hua Cheng’s armory doing the same scene from Sokka’s Master (Instant comic inspiration!):
youtube
-Dude really thought of the best gift for his highness (I’m really glad I finished this reaction on XL’s B-Day!)
-The exchanged humor on tending to the armory!
-Here it comes!
-And now, here are my translations of the Crimson rain sough flower’s scimitar:
E Ming, wakes up: Who’s that? Who’s there?
Xie Lian: Hello. *chuckles*. It’s cute!
E Ming, hearing Xie Lian’s compliment: He thinks I’m cute!!!
Xie Lian: Isn’t that nice? Well I like you too.
E Ming, hearing more of XL’s compliment: Awww! Stop it! You should totally pet me!
Hua Cheng: No
E Ming, now excited: YES!!!
(I love how Hua Cheng and E Ming’s whole dynamic when it comes to Xie Lian’s affection is basically, Hua Cheng: E Ming no! E Ming: E Ming YES! Imma go sketch that out!)
E Ming, getting petted: Oh yes! Yes! Right there, and near the hilt!
-He’s gonna touch the deadly scimitar, he’s touching the deadly scimitar, he touched the sword
-They tended his wounds!
-This has the energy of two hardworking dads tending to their adopted son while they’re both busy with jobs
-He’s honoring Xiao Ying with her name, that’s good
-Just like Lang Qianqiu!
-Every night at Paradise Manor is Dim Sum night
-It looks like a red bean roll cake
-Another quick 800 year flashback!
-Those glasses look like Jade
-That maid has lighter brown hair
-This is what happens when you accidentally drink through the wrong pipe
-Qingxuan is the wingman/woman
Finished just in time for Xie Lian’s Birthday! Also when I heard that a short film and movie were announced!!! Everything’s coming up TGCF and it’s awesome! For those of you reading The Scrap Immortal and the Avatar, I’ve got a great start on Chapter 1 so hang tight this weekend! More reactions will be coming out this week!

It's always a privilege and a pleasure to discover JJK and being a fan.
But to all fellow female JJK fans, please simp responsibly. I know Gege and Mappa did some craaazy designs and animations to our beloved JJK men, but that doesn't mean we all get to be all Literally Feral about it.
The Gojo Figurine sht was insane. And now they also got Geto. A tiktok from Billy Han is where I found out about it. Yeah, do whatever you want if you wanna do stuff while gazing into the eyes of the sexy anime men, buy don't do shit like that. It's fucking embarrassing.
Just simp. That's all.

Hi there! I have a doubt you may know: At the beginning of Ruyi’s, we see Gao Xiyue having a status similar to Hongli’s fujin: she has servants and doesn’t seem to assist another woman. Also when the concubines greet Langhua when Yongzhen's death is announced: they all have servants. However, when Hu Yunjiao becomes a concubine, she seems more like a servant that can sleep with Yongqi. So how was the life for a Qing prince’s concubine? Servants or masters?
Gao Xiyue at the beginning and Hu Yunjiao might have the same title (Gege) but their status are two completely different things.
Gao Xiyue is a daughter of a high ranking official, and her position in Hongli’s household though relatively low was bestowed personally by the emperor in part for recognition of her father’s work, and she was also properly received into the household. Probably the only reason she wasn’t given a title of Ce Fujin was because of her status as a Han or Yongzheng didn’t want to appear like he was putting too much pressure on Langhua as the new Di Fujin by also having Hongli have two Ce Fujin at the same time which may be seen as implied approval for even more overt competition between them. It might also be because Hongli already basically publicly rejected Xiyue, so Yongzheng forcing him to accept her with too high a title from the get go isn’t a good look either.
Hu Yunjiao is in a completely different position. It’s kind of vague in the drama how she just appears in Yongqi’s household but she starts out as a pretty low ranking maid that Yongqi just happens to take a fancy to, and he clearly slept with her before she was given any sort of recognition. Yunjiao said that she doesn’t want a title and didn’t feel worthy to meet the empress, mostly because staying in obscurity and feinting this kind of modesty also serves her purpose. She wouldn’t want to be raised to the same kind of prestige as Xiyue had and couldn’t be given her origin. Yongqi basically gave her recognition and a Gege title because he likes her and it’s the honourable thing to do once they’d been together, but her prestige is entirely dependent on his favour, whereas Xiyue had standing from her father being a meritorious high ranking official. Until enough time passed/she has a son it’s unlikely the household will really look beyond Yunjiao’s past as a maid, Xiyue doesn’t have to contend with that.
I think it’s likely that Yunjiao after becoming Gege would have a maid or two at her disposal, we just don’t see them on screen because we only see her in intimate settings with Yongqi or when she’s sneaking around to meet Yanwan. Technically she wouldn’t have to do any manual labour or whatever her old duties as a maid were, but she would still have been expected to wait on Yongqi and his Di Fujin - but then Xiyue would have been expected to do this for Hongli and Langhua too, we just didn’t have a lot of screentime covering the period when she was Gege.
If Yunjiao wasn’t there under false pretenses, she probably could have asked for more benefits and recognition like for Yongqi to help her family politically (because it was mentioned at one point her “father” was supposed to be an official? Probably a low ranking one) or just occasional money to help her family (or you know…to treat her own illness), but obviously Yunjiao wasn’t there for any of that, so the appearance of her obscure position in the drama is at least partly self-imposed.

The trailer for Blemish Flaw (棕眼之谜) just dropped and I cannot contain my excitement to see so many people who worked on Heroes (天行健) reunited for a new project!
The main leads are Qin Junjie (Men San Dao) and Maggie Huang (Gege) but some supporting actors namely Jinna Fu (Ms Huo) and Pang Han Chen (Wang Jialuo) are also back.
It's so funny to see so many characters from Heroes reincarnated in the modern setting:
Men San Dao is still a detective but this time he's trying to find his fiancée who has disappeared without a trace.
Wu Lanshan (Gege) is married to an abusive husband whom MSD suspects to be the murderer of his missing fiancee.. and even in this timeline these two cannot help falling in love with each other!
And we got to see Wang Jialuo who now works as a policeman (somehow i'm not surprised at all!), pursuit of justice is in his blood!
The villain husband is played by Wang Duo (you might know him from a League of Nobleman). He's a ceramic artist and it seems that his modus operandi is to burn his victims in his kiln :D
The direct translation of the title 棕眼之谜 is "the Mystery of a brown eye" where the "brown eye" stands for dark spots that can be found in ceramics (i.e. porcelain) if they are contaminated with iron. Hmm i am curious to see how it'll pan out.
The aesthetics in this drama are quite strong, every shot shown in the trailer has a nice lighting and creative environment.
**MSD is totally not obsessing over his princess and how the heck could he take this photo for his crime board**
I know nothing about the original novel but I have absolute faith in the screenwriter (白一骢) and the director (卫立洲) as they have already proved they can tell compelling original stories, can't wait!!

hi! can you write about what nicknames does bihan use to call kuailiang and tomas?
both angrily and when he adores them and stuff...
especially kuai, being his lil brother ❄️💙😊 tnx
Hey lovely, sorry it took me so long to answer this, it totally got buried X.x
Bi-Han unapologetically calls Kuai Liang a “little shit”, it’s his default. He doesn’t really have a lot of other nicknames except for like “dumbass” or “dipshit” or other derogatory terms. He doesn’t mean them with malice or anything, it’s just he’s the big brother, and what are big brothers for than to call their little sibilings derogatory terms? Fun example my older brother has called me “slut” for as long as I can remember lol I call him “slut” back though and it’s all in fun, he doesn’t mean anything by it just like Bi-Han doesn’t mean anything by his not so nice nicknames for his little brother. Affectionate nicknames are hard for Bi-Han because he doesn’t like to show his soft side often but when they were little Bi-Han often called Kuai Liang “didi” which is Chinese for little brother, or very rarely “little bear”, I like to headcanon the boys could turn into bears at a very young age which of course is reflected in their shared animality of a polar bear. They often used to terrify their poor Mother by playing as bears, she of course knew their Father was a cryomancer but she didn’t realize cryomancers could become polar bears, so imagine her shock when her two little boys turned into bears to rough house in the yard.
Tomas is a little different, it depends what timeline we’re in, if we’re in MK1’s timeline then Bi-Han calls him “didi” as well since Tomas is his adopted brother, but in other timelines he’s more likely to use “biao di” which losely means younger cousin. In whatever timeline they’re still close it’s just the relationship that changes slightly. In MK1 Bi-Han starts to call Tomas “Cupi” to make fun of him, in a loving sort of way because it’s one of Hallvard’s petnames for Tomas and much like Bi-Han picking up Tomas’ habit of calling Hallvard, Halle, Bi-Han also picked up the habit of calling Tomas “Cupi” which is short for porcupine, which is his animality. I’m admitedly big on animality based nicknames lol When it comes to non-affectionate names for Tomas, it’s very similar to Kuai Liang with an overlap of “little shit”, “dumbass” and “dipshit”. In return they call Bi-Han a “whore” lol since he’s not exactly quiet about his sexual prowess, when they aren’t teasing him they both just call him “gege” which is older brother. Non MK1 Tomas uses “biao ge” for Bi-Han which is older cousin, when Tomas and Kuai Liang are being mischevious though they sarcastically refer to Bi-Han as “grandmaster”, which even though they aren’t being sincere Bi-Han does not mind in the slightest since he knows it’s his future title.
Thank you for asking lovely and sorry again about the wait! Things tend to get buried in my ask box, I try to go through it weekly to keep things from getting too backed up, but August is kind of an exception because it’s a shitty month and I got too in my feels to go through it. Thanks for your patience!

Now I Want You: A HuaLian fanfic, chapter six
Trigger warnings
This is an +18 fanfic, so it may and/or will contain themes such as suicide, physical and psychological abuse, violence and cruelty, explicit sex, complex or highly impactful sexual situations, and rape. Be careful when reading, do not force yourself and protect yourself.
Contains age gap, Xie Lian is 20 years older than Hua Cheng here.
────୨ৎ────
Xie Lian found Hua Cheng at the lake a few hours after work, his hair still damp from the shower tied into a simple braid, wearing a light and fresh white long-sleeved blouse, skinny jeans, and white sneakers.
Hua Cheng, sitting on a blanket, wearing a tight black tank top, zipped up to the neck, and jeans, laughed when he saw him. “You could easily pass for a teenager,” he said as Xie Lian sat down beside him. “When gege created the fake identity, did he think of using a fake age as well? I doubt people will so easily believe that you are 46 years old.”
“They really don’t believe it,” Xie Lian laughed, “I always have to show them my ID. I didn’t bother to change my birth year.”
“Day and month, yes?”
Xie Lian nodded. “Uh-huh.”
Hua Cheng looked at him melancholy. “Gege really didn’t want to be found, huh.”
Xie Lian shook his head. Seeing that there was a large bag beside Hua Cheng, he pointed at it and asked, “What do you have there?”
“Oh,” the young man placed the bag between him, “some presents.”
From the bag, he pulled three swords: a silver-hilted scimitar with a closed eye; a straight double-edged sword, with roots intricately carved into the red leather hilt and flowers growing from the golden blade, the characters 身在无间, 心在桃源 engraved between the designs — ‘body in the abyss; heart in paradise’; and a bronze longsword with beautiful patterns, decorated with pearl beads and jades, the blade was sharp and cold as ice and reflected a cold light, two characters were engraved on this sword: 赤霄, pronounced Chi Xiao[1]. 斩白蛇起义, ‘Uprising of the Slaying of the White Serpent’.
“Zhan baishe, ti san chi jian li bu shi zhi gong[2],” Xie Lian said in an awed whisper, raising the sword in front of his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing. “The Snake-Slaying Sword[3] of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty. Is it real? It looks real.”
If it wasn't real, then it was an incredible replica, Xie Lian thought in delight, testing the sword in his hand.
“Yes, it is,” Hua Cheng seemed very proud of himself.
Rightly so, he really should be.
“How did you manage that?” Xie Lian asked in disbelief, standing up to punch the air a few times. “It’s been missing for millennia.”
Hua Cheng shrugged. “I’ve been bored for many years, so I went around looking for things, treasures, places, something to do.”
Xie Lian turned to him, his eyes wide. “Are you telling me you found this sword by accident?”
“No. I wanted to go after it. It took me a few years to find it.”
“Everyone wants to find that sword.”
“Well, bad luck for them, I found it first.”
“And what do you intend to do with it?” Xie Lian tested it a little more. It was too light for him, but it flowed well with softer strokes, like a dance.
“It’s my gift to Ban Yue, I think it suits her.”
Xie Lian turned back to him, delighted. “It’s perfect for her. She’s been training with short swords lately, but this one… there’s no way it won’t fit her like a glove.”
He put the sword back into its sheath, picking up the other red-hilted one this time and testing his moves on it. Xie Lian recognized the phrase engraved on it, of course, and thought of it with longing.
But he didn’t think too much, Xie Lian preferred to think about the here and now, there was nothing for him in the past.
“This one, dare I ask, is it for me?” He cut the air a few times as he asked. It was a light sword, for fast and flexible swordsmen.
Hua Cheng looked at him with a contented smile. “Yes. I specially forged it for gege, I hope I didn’t disappoint you.”
Xie Lian gasped in astonishment, turning to face him and pointing the blade of his sword at the young man. “No way. Did you forge it?”
The young man nodded, his pride clearly rising by the second. “Yes.”
Xie Lian looked at him, fascinated, admiring, incredulous, with wide eyes. “Every time I discover more about you, the more you surprise me.”
“So, did you like it, gege?”
Xie Lian twisted his body along with the sword, testing its lightness and flexibility and being pleased with the result. “Yes.”
“Really?”
“Very much so. And what’s the other one?”
Hua Cheng stood up and pulled his scimitar from its sheath. “Oh, this one? It's just E-Ming.”
E-Ming’s eye opened, a scarlet red iris swiveled towards Xie Lian, at first with the eyelid drooping and the pupil closed into a slit, indifferent, but as soon as he saw Xie Lian, that eye of his became a half-moon, the pupil opened and grew until it was round like a button and began to spin crazily. The entire scimitar trembled.
Xie Lian smiled and walked over. “Hello.”
Hua Cheng slapped the scimitar’s eye, causing it to shudder and lose heart.
Xie Lian looked at Hua Cheng and blinked. “Why did you hit her?”
“She wants you to pet her. I didn’t let her.”
“Ah? Why not?” He reached out, stroking the scimitar’s hilt, causing that eye to spin wildly again.
Haha, I know I get along well with animals, but I never imagined a scimitar would like me, Xie Lian thought happily.
“Alright, alright, gege.” Hua Cheng was pouting, which made Xie Lian laugh. “Gege, stop spoiling her.”
Xie Lian looked at him with an amused smile. “Why? Do you want to be spoiled in her place?”
“Of course I do.”
Xie Lian lowered his hand, causing E-Ming to shudder unhappily, and he smiled. “How about that duel now, San Lang?”
Hua Cheng smiled. “Gege read my mind.”
He took a stance and Xie Lian soon followed. “Ready?”
Xie Lian's smile widened. “Always.”
It was exhausting. They both fell to the ground when they finished, sweating, panting, and laughing.
Yes, it was exhausting, but it was perfect. Hua Cheng’s strikes were strong and agile, truly powerful, while Xie Lian’s was more flexible and quick. One moment one would defend and the other would attack, when they couldn't use their blades, they would use their fists, legs, elbows or even their heads, and the latter in particular made them laugh many times.
“Gege, you killed me,” Hua Cheng declared after a while, laughing. “It’s really impossible to win against you. My gege is so powerful.”
Xie Lian laughed breathlessly. “Ah, San Lang, you’re wonderful too. I think we’d get along better as a team than as opponents.”
“Gege is right, and I really do prefer to stay in your good graces.”
“Hehe, now San Lang has seen what it’s like to fight the best prodigy of his generation,” Xie Lian said, allowing himself to be arrogant again, like he was all those years ago.
“Oh. That being the case, I feel honored to lose to gege.”
“It was a worthy defeat! You have an impressive and innate ability, a rare talent!”
“Gege flatters me.”
Xie Lian turned to him, found him already looking at him, and slapped his forehead. Hua Cheng blinked.
“Gege, what did this San Lang do this time?” He was pouting, melting Xie Lian’s heart.
“I’m not flattering, it’s just a fact. If San Lang wasn’t good, I wouldn’t say anything to save your face and keep our friendship on good terms.”
“Oh. Then this one thanks you.”

Ban Yue was speechless.
“Is this Chi Xiao?” she asked, her mouth agape, staring at the blade that was halfway out of its sheath. “The Snake-Slaying Sword, Chi Xiao?”
“Uh-huh,” Hua Cheng confirmed, smiling.
After a few more moments in the living room, everyone silent, Ban Yue let out a little scream.
“Dàge! Dàge, how did you manage that?!”
“A magician never reveals his tricks,” he signaled silence with a finger resting on his mouth.
Ban Yue put the sword back in its sheath, ran to Hua Cheng and jumped up to hug him around the neck. He, moreover, froze for a quick moment, as if he didn't know what to do, but soon returned the hug. “Mèimei really liked it?”
Ban Yue nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes!! Absolutely!! It was the best gift anyone has ever given me!!” She turned away from Hua Cheng and looked at Xie Lian, who was leaning against the wall in the corner, smiling sweetly at them. “Of course, any gift from you will always be number one in my heart, dad.”
Xie Lian laughed. “No problem. San Lang is truly unmatched here.”
“Gege, nothing like that. Anything from you is the greatest honor anyone could receive.”
Xie Lian laughed embarrassedly, lowering his head for a moment before looking at him again. “You flatter me.”
“Ah, now I’m the flatterer?”
“I know you guys like to isolate yourselves in your own little world,” Ban Yue interrupted, pulling the sword out of its sheath entirely this time, “but I’d really like to test this sword out now. Who’s up for a duel with me?” She made a few slashing motions, causing Xie Lian’s eyes to widen.
“Not in the living room!”

Shi Qing Xuan was in trouble.
Sending Xuan Ji to the city where Pei Ming resides was not a good idea. She found him easily, of course, this was expected, and with that Pei Ming was able to find out where she lived and where Shi Qing Xuan was. Shi Qing Xuan's fake identity was really bad, she knew that, but…
“AAARRRGGHHHH WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!!!!” She shouted after her twenty-fifth drink, unhappy and irritated, and slammed her forehead on the table again.
Xie Lian smiled sympathetically, stroking her messy hair, while Hua Cheng raised his eyebrows at him, as if asking if this was normal.
He wiggled his own eyebrows a little, as if saying ‘yeah, maybe’. Hua Cheng laughed out loud, causing Xie Lian to look worriedly at Shi Qing Xuan, who didn’t seem to have heard anything.
They were at a small kiosk on the lakeshore at the moment, Shi Qing Xuan had invited Xie Lian during his work hours, and Xie Lian had invited Hua Cheng. She didn't mind the unexpected guest, in fact she seemed quite excited to meet the man Xie Lian had been crying for this past month, but she had to hold back certain very personal information when it came to venting her latest problems.
That was until she started drinking.
Xie Lian wasn't too worried, Hua Cheng didn't seem all that interested in the chaos going on in her life and barely seemed to be paying attention to what she was saying, so he believed that it would be okay for this young man to know some of Shi Qing Xuan's secrets.
Other people around looked at their table strangely, and Xie Lian smiled to divert their attention, who shook their heads or shrugged and went back to whatever they were doing.
“Lao-Xie…” Shi Qing Xuan muttered into the table, “What should I do?”
Xie Lian sighed. “You don’t have anywhere else to go, do you?”
“…No.”
“Then I’ll help you deal with the consequences. I’m part of this mess, I owe you.”
Shi Qing Xuan threw herself into his arms to hug him, which caught Xie Lian off guard and they almost fell to the ground.
“Lao-Xie! You’re the best, Lao-Xie! Thank you so much!” She laid sloppily on his shoulders, her eyes closed as if she was about to fall asleep. Xie Lian, smiling awkwardly, patted her head affectionately.
“If this Pei Ming is who I think he is,” Hua Cheng began, looking at the table and fiddling with his drink glass, “he’s a harmless, womanizing jerk who’s wealthy enough to afford a city. Why doesn’t Shi Qing Xuan accept his help? He and her brother were friends after all.”
Xie Lian shrugged. “I have no idea. I just know that she doesn’t like him at all.”
“I'm always surprised when someone shows up as his friend or wants to be his lover. She has good taste.”
“How do you know him?”
Hua Cheng laughed and looked at him, putting down the drink and folding his hands behind his head.
“He was Shi Wudu’s friend. Pei Ming is a professional boxer, a high-performance athlete, his fortune comes from both that and his birth. Again, harmless, unlike Shi Wudu.”
Shi Wudu. This name was familiar.
Shi Qing Xuan’s older brother, the Water Tyrant, was the owner of a shipbuilding company. Previously, his family were middle-class businessmen and merchants, they lived well but had no fortune, until Shi Wudu built his own business and became rich quickly.
It was at some point after this that the road took on a dark shape, even Shi Qing Xuan did not quite understand what had happened. What she knew was that from within her brother’s corporation, a tyrant as powerful as him had been born, unhurriedly destroying their empire from the inside out.
Whether it was out of revenge, envy, or greed, Shi Qing Xuan didn’t know, but somehow, she still had to hand over the remaining lands of the Shi family to repay a debt that she didn’t even know how it came about. The remnants of her family had also disappeared, only the gods knew where they were now, if there were any left at all.
Hei Shui was not a simple man, just like Shi Wudu was not a simple man either.
At some point, right after hearing this story from Shi Qing Xuan’s mouth, Xie Lian really found himself wondering if this was all caused by some grudge from a former lover. Thinking about it again, although one side of him wondered how he had thought of the possibility of Hei Shui being Shi Wudu's ex-lover seeking revenge, the other side could still see the meaning in this question.
Not that he would verbalize it.
Xie Lian knew a lot about Shi Qing Xuan's past and he knew it wasn't an easy past, but now someone from her past, who she already didn't like, was coming after her, and there was nowhere to run or hide. It was understandable why Shi Qing Xuan was so distressed.
“But wait, if Pei Ming is this harmless, then how could Xuan Ji betray his family for him?”
“Pei Ming comes from a bourgeois family. The Pei family was interested in a land that belonged to the Xuan clan because of its fertility and mineral wealth, and they pressured the clan to the point of entering into a cold war. When Pei Ming got involved with Xuan Ji, the Peis saw it as an opportunity to get what they wanted, and Xuan Ji actually helped them just to impress Pei Ming.”
Xie Lian raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Pei Ming is harmless?”
Hua Cheng shrugged. “He’s an incorrigible womanizer, and his family used that to their advantage. He dumped Xuan Ji right after his betrayal. Such a sucker.”
How could this be harmless??
Though for a man like Hua Cheng, his views on what was and wasn’t harmless must not have been really conventional.

Footnotes:
[1] (赤霄剑), Emperor Liu Bang's sword, one of the ten famous swords of Ancient China, used by him to kill the white snake in Daze and begin his imperial life.
[2] (斩白蛇、提三尺剑立不世之功), “Behead the white snake and raise the one-meter sword to achieve incomparable achievements” is a phrase referring to this sword.
[3] (斩蛇剑), zǔ zhǎn shé jiàn.
The author has something to say:
You don't know how much I freaked out when I found this sword, I felt like a fanboy like Xie Lian. I read about it and thought, "It's for Ban Yue." In general, I don't know much about swords, so the descriptions may not be very accurate.
I intend to develop each one's stories in due time, always basing myself on the original work because I have fun using the canon to my advantage. And the non-canon too kakaak.

Planning a Trip to Xi’an and Want to Wear Hanfu? Here's How to Pick Without a Mistake 🕳️ Save this Now!
Are you planning a trip to Xi'an and want to wear Hanfu, but unsure of how to choose in the store? Do not worry; it will be super simple! Just remember the key points below to avoid mistakes in picking Hanfu. First, you'll want to know the different styles of Hanfu. For the Qin, Han, and Warring States Periods: Includes straight or curved lapel styles including the style recently made popular by wearing Warring States robes. Good for a cooler or more noble style.
For the Wei and Jin Dynasties: Cross-collared, waist length styles. Good for cooler or pure looks.
For the Tang Dynasty Hanfu: 🔥 Lots of variation from skirts like the "Heziqun" style (of disputed origin) to a chest-high ruqun or long Tang-style robes with half sleeves or broad necklines. Good for sweet or luxurious looks.
For the Song Dynasty Hanfu: Lots of choices from a straight long robe open down the front with buttons, Song-style tube tops, pleated skirts, hundred-layer skirts, or pants in Song style. Good for sweeter or pure styles.
For the Ming Dynasty Hanfu: Long coats with a stand-up collar, square or square-collared sleeveless jackets, and 🔥 horse-face skirts were especially important and can sometimes mean dignity in one's dress.
For the Qing Dynasty Hanfu: Recently popular Qing Dynasty Hanfu for women and or a Gege-style robe is not something you might think of, but if you know, you know!
For Han-element types: Although not Hanfu, finds like the Western Region look, flower embroidered chest-high dresses (including dress strap type), and 🔥 a new Chinese type are so beautiful! So many styles to enjoy!
Okay, choosing the right Hanfu from any of the above type Hanfu becomes easy.
Big chest: Avoid chest-high, cross-collared, and short jackets.
Plus size: You should wear Ming (possibly restored Tang only) styles.
Chest-high skirts: You can be short or tall would be flattering to either type of person which will make short ladies look taller even a little slim, and will make tall ladies look gloriously elegant.Different body types have different styles to help the Hanfu flatters body type
Wide waist.: Avoid Wei and Jin or Song Dynasty, waist-length Hanfu.
Wide shoulders and big chest: Do not choose any front-buttoned Hanfu that is waist length.
Wide shoulders: Avoid Wei and Jin, cross-collared, waist-length Hanfu.
Significant waist-hip differential: Avoid horse-face skirts, they will "tuck" or puff out awkwardly. They can be better matched with wide-sleeve, loose, big, long tops or long robes to cover this part desired.
Wide hips and thick legs: Select Song style pants.
Short neck and big chest: Wide necklines should be worn. Do not even think about stand-up collars.
Embroidered cloud shoulders: If you have broad shoulders, do not wear this feature.
Wearing Hanfu is about showing our beauty. If you are trying on various Hanfu that do not look flattering on you, it now might just be the fit of the look of that particular hanfu that did not agree with your appearance if you like to wear Hanfu. There are easily thousands of styles of Hanfu to find the unique one you love. The one you love unique to your style is always the best! Wish all my fellow Hanfu lovers so much the best of luck to look beautiful possible with even cooler style than the Hanfu popldacable have look good rocking going out wearing Hanfu!

chaos baby a-Lan leads a-Hua down the chaos path? they're drawing inky moustaches on everyone they can during the night. Han-gege? Moustached? Jiang Cheng? Very large mosutache + beard. wwx? huge lambchop moustache.
For extra chaos, they use spelled ink so that only some people can see the moustaches. Jiang Cheng can see his moustache and Wei Wuxian, but not Yu Xihan's; and Lan Wangji can see Yu Xihan's, but not his or Wei Wuxian's. There's a great deal of confusion until everyone gathers to figure out who really has a moustache (and thus needs a bath with Special Soap) and who doesn't.
