it's so insanely good to see them on stage together, to see GD absolutely light up when Taeyang comes out, to see them bouncing across the stage together, to see that all exploding more with Daesung joining them, to see how joyful they are when all three of them are together. they all look so happy. to be on stage, to be together.

Bigbang was my first kpop group and i have a lot of emotions about them and just

Black Friday

Did some Black Friday shopping today! :)

Man...I am so grateful that I can actually participate in "Black Friday" whether small or big.

I had my favorite Korean Dish "Gopchang Hotpot (Tripe Hotpot)" with Soju :) man it was bomb!

I'm now playing some games on the side after chit-chatting with friends.

Oh and yes, I am listening to NCT 127 - Summer 127..I am so hooked on this song lol followed by can't help repeating G-Dragon's MAMA 2024 Performance! The legendary is BACK!

Stream of consciousness re: MAMA awards 2024

Most of the performances from current groups I thought were decent but nothing where I was like WOW, that was incredible. Even svt. I like that txt did their little dance break transition, I was like finally someone’s doing something performance worthy, but even that I was like ok that was cute, next. I liked aespa’s performance well enough but Giselle’s sunglasses distracted me the entire time. Everyone seemed to be having mic issues or they weren’t loud enough, with the possible exception of svt. I thought IVE did a great job but I could barely hear them, though Yujin nailed the high note in Heya. Heya is probably my song of the year, so I wanted way more for that performance. Camerawork was shoddy all around, why the stupid 360 drone shots?? Nobody needed that my brain just shuts off when the camera moves that fast. So as usual since about 2020 I watched the performances and went eh, ok, guess the glory days of MAMA are behind us.

And then of course, Big Bang. That was the WOW I was looking for. I was screaming at my screen when Taeyang came out for home sweet home. And then Daesung. And then bang bang bang. And then fantastic baby, the song that got me into K-pop in 2013.

And like, stage wise, I can’t even say that they did much more than any of the other groups but their mics were ON, the camerawork was suddenly better, they were dancing full on but like not trying too hard, they knew how to move around the stage with the camera but not make it confusing or awkward, they were able to create suspense between the “gdragon” section and the “big bang” section but it wasn’t forced — idk it’s just different?? And obviously you can’t replicate that stage presence for anything. You can’t match their ability to get every single person in that arena hype as fuck. That’s the power of legends I guess. They’re just built different, and the performance is elevated 10x without them seeming to have to do anything else. There’s no gimmick they’re just that good. Loved svt loosing their minds btw I know they get it :D

Anyway it brought me back to the MAMA glory days and that was special.
