Trans people don't have to abandon their entire pre-transition lives, and this is something I wish more people could acknowledge and respect.

There's an expectation for trans people to abandon every aspect of their "old selves", that it is only right for us to renounce everything that we were or that we thought we were before discovering we are trans.

Trans people will sometimes engage in communities that are "antithetical" to our current understandings of ourselves for so many reasons. For instance, a trans man might go to a lesbian meet-up because the lesbian community was the first place he could explore his gender and presentation in an environment that tends towards accepting gender and presentation deviance. There are way more examples of this, but my point is that trans people are not bad, or lying about their current gender, or heaven-forbid are predatory for engaging with these communities. You don't have to understand why some people do what they do, but I find that there is so much fear mongering about trans people who don't "match" what's expected of their gender or transition. Not all trans people will retain their pre-transition lives, and that's fine. Some of us do, though, and both these types of trans people can coexist; we take away nothing from each other by existing.

Words like "I'm sorry", "I forgive you", sometimes even “Thank you”, and overall, heaven forbid: "I love you" seem to be overwhelmingly grand feelings to so simply throw around, especially on a Sunday afternoon, where they're only watching a marathon of Laugh 'Till It Hurts and Silly Gooses because they're the only shows airing at the time which are not… Yuck. Romantic novels.

Come to think about it… This is not romantic at all! He's safe from all that gross, horribly (which he will stress until his face turns purple; is not the same as horridly) staged and sappy, 'Delicate as a flower petal' or whatever grown ups like to say -stuff! He can rest easy now!

Gay and lesbian were also used as slurs. I remember gay and lesbian being used as slurs. Your words aren't baggage free either.

The intention of using the word queer is including all the people who lived at Fire Island: not just gay men and lesbians, but also the bisexual people, the transgender people who were at the island, the people who may not have identified with a label.

Did... did the straights forget we don't have anywhere near as much representation as them again? Like I get y'all are use to EVERYTHING catering to y'all's taste but seriously? Seriously? like yeah, nowadays you can find more, ESPECIALLY when it comes down to indie stuff... it's still NOTHING compared to how much cishet media is out there. Also did y'all forget when we DO get romance it tends to be double edged sword what with the whole "bury your gays" thing popping up often or gays just being side characters with little on screen romance thats often sanitized for homophobic mass appeal? Not to mention media rep varies VASTLY between queer person (ESPECIALLY bipoc who are often left out of romance, even when it comes down to HETERO relationships).

Like... sorry but our media is not created equal, if y'all are so annoyed with platonic love not being depicted enough why don't yall go beg/demand it from the majority of media out there that just feels like it HAS to shoehorn cishetero relationships into everything? Hmm?!
