Summary:

If luck was on their side, they would get home in seventeen years, two months, and three days. Give or take an hour, as Julian had put it. But he knew the chances of them surviving the next 48 hours were slim to none.

“I thought you would prefer to look into my eyes, Doctor,” gasped Garak. Would he ever be quiet? No, apparently not because he continued. “Or is it another matter of mathematics or—.”

Garak’s voice shuddered to a low rumble as Julian shoved his head hard into the single pillow on the cot. The damn thing rattled at the force.

This Year's Christmas Fic - AKA Starting Christmas in July a Lil' Early

Okay, so it's a tradition in my family to start thinking about Christmas shortly after the Summer Solstice.

I was going to wait until July, but then I realized that it is indeed already July in certain parts of the world. So heck it.

I always (and by always, I mean since I started writing fanfic about them) write a Garashir Christmas fic.

This year will (hopefully) be no different.

I just read an excellent fic yesterday wherein the author fully invented a whole Romulan novel just for Julian and Garak to talk about. Being as invested as I was, I commented on the fic letting the author know how interested I was in an expansion of their ideas of Romulan history or more details about the fictional novel itself.

This beautiful fucking human being replied to be WITH A WHOLE FUCKING ESSAY DETAILING THE PLOT OF THE NOVEL AND THEIR HEADCANONS ON ROMULAN CULTURE IN REGARDS TO ITS INFLUENCE ON THIS FAKE FUCKING NOVEL!!

Im devastated this novel will never exist! I need it so badly! But also like. Star Trek fans? Nobody is doing it like they are. They’re fucking crazy (affectionate). They’re inventing whole cultures, art forms, books, paintings, people, etc.. They’re creating whole Tolkien-esque worlds for a 4k fanfic about a fucking pretty boy doctor and his gay ass lizard homie.

The Changeling has been observing his mark for years. When Garak proves difficult to deceive he deals with the distraction in the best way he can - in the way Julian might. To take the form of an object is to become it, after all, and he has become Julian Bashir. Only better.

Fic summary: Dr. Lewis Zimmerman comes to Deep Space 9 to immortalize Dr. Julian Bashir as a Long-Term Medical Hologram, and all Garak needs to do is be honest in an interview about his acquaintance with Bashir – but not too honest. Then Dr. Bashir’s parents arrive, and Garak is caught in the turmoil that upends his lover’s life. It turns out Bashir is better at keeping a secret than Garak ever gave him credit for…

Chapter summary: Julian has just shared with Garak his greatest secret -- that he was genetically modified as a child -- and they continue to discuss everything that means for them.

Garak lying to a dying Tain that there was no one there but them, and letting Julian be there for Tain’s Shri-tal, was the moment Garak devoted himself to Julian. He told Julian (in a Cardassian way Julian didn’t know at the time probably) that Tain’s death meant he, Garak, was choosing to give his entire being to Julian. Garak lied to Tain — the man he was trained to follow and take orders from since childhood for the protection of Cardassia — as an act of untethering himself to the man, and a bit of Cardassia too. He knew he would be free after that, and he took the initiative of devoting himself to Julian, so he would not have to suffer being without a chain/anchor in the ocean of space for long —even IF he wouldn’t be that lost for long and knew he’d be with Julian soon enough once back on DS9. He was exiled from his home and losing the only other source of direction, but he chose to take the leap and be/have Julian as his new holder. And being with the man he found himself in love with was just his own personal win.

I used to be notoriously bad at naming things. I mean, for Heaven's sake, I named my dog after a pastry! I've since gotten slightly better at naming things, but truly, not by much.

Favorite line so far: “My dear doctor, as much as I appreciate your youthful enthusiasm in these matters, may I make a suggestion?”

WIP #2: Garashir tailor!shop fic

Favorite line so far: He could feel Garak’s breath on his bare skin, and it was unbearably difficult to stop from turning away. He could feel heat building in the space between them, and he was sure Garak could, too.

WIP #3: Missing scene fic where Garak finds out Julian is augmented

Favorite line so far: “Of course, I’ve heard,” Garak shot back. “It’s been a week, Julian. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard the news. I was just… Hoping to find out from you.” Garak didn’t sound angry, just disappointed, and that was infinitely worse.

Ahem some of these may have been 'in progress' for a while and may or may ever get finished, but if you have a preference for which gets my attention first I'm all ears! Like a Ferengi!
