I feel like, as a group who likes A/B/O, haven't embraced the Sigma as a valid dynamic in our omegaverse fanfic.
And I feel like that's a real shame! We should reclaim this sexist term and put it into our smutty fanfic!
So I volunteer myself as a sacrifice and will journey into Sigma male spaces to learn:
1) what a Sigma even is
2) How a Sigma is supposed to behave
3) What their role is in the A/B/O hierarchy
And once I have gotten all of that, I will write Sigma!Reader X Omega!Character fanfic in the hopes that it will inspire others to do the same, and that the role will become apart of Omegaverse.
Anyway, if yall have any Sigma headcanons I would LOVE to hear them!! How do you think a Sigma behaves? Do they have ruts? Are their scents stronger than Alphas or Omegas?
If you know other people that have written Sigma headcanons or have Sigma posts, I would LOVE to see them!!
#im only like. 1/3 joking about this post#i have heard about other fanmade dynamics like Gammas and Deltas but have seen NOTHING for sigmas#and i want to change that fact SO BADLY !!!!#I WANNA BE KNOWN AS ONE OF THE USERS WHO INTRODUCED SIGMAS TO THE OMEGAVERSE!!!#anyway. would love to know yalls thoughts#hit my inbox up i wanna brainstorm#with yalls help we can make guys who earnestly look up Sigma males REAL nervous

Just because you don’t hear about something, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
Because tragically, too often, boys and men suffer in darkness.
There is perhaps no better example of this than the horrific actions of Boko Haram, and the countless boys and men they have taken, without trace, and to very little outrage.
For it is not just the education of women and girls that the group are implacably against, Boko Haram are against all Western education, for all people, including men and boys.
For years they demonstrated this through enacting unspeakable war crimes onto innocent Nigerian men and boys, often releasing women and girls, and for years they were ignored by a disinterested world.
Boys disappeared. Men were killed. Nobody said anything.
And certainly nobody especially important.
Then things changed in April 2014, when nearly 300 Nigerian girls were taken, and the world woke up to what was going on.
Celebrities marched the red carpets, political leaders spoke up, Michelle Obama fought for justice, god damn, we had China and America working together for once.
#bringbackourgirls rang out, as it should, and the much awaited outrage and long overdue horror finally took flight.
Most of the girls were saved, and the world went about its business as usual…
The following three years saw not 300 boys taken, or 500… but 10,000, and as before, silence reined supreme.
So who will speak for these forgotten boys?
Who will bring back all Nigeria’s children?

Patterns in Making Victims’ Gender Visible or Invisible in News Media Reporting of Boko Haram’s Massacres and Kidnappings
Boko Haram, a terrorist group based in Nigeria, has systematically conducted gender- based mass kidnappings and killings throughout its history, and these gendered crimes have included both male and female victims. This research examined newspaper articles on Boko Haram’s gendered crimes reported from July 2013 to February 2021, with a focus on the relative visibility of the gender of the victims. The genders of male and female abductees were clearly identified; however, the gender of male massacre victims was relatively invisible irrespective of whether they were men or boys. A failure to report the gendered nature of the massacres may contribute to lower awareness and, thus, reduced security resourcing needed to address such severe human rights violations.
--
The name Boko Haram can be loosely translated as “Western education is sin” (Sergie & Johnson, 2014, para. 4). The group has strongly advocated radical social and educational reforms throughout Nigeria (Bello, 2021), aiming at eliminating all Western influences and replacing Western education and standards with “undiluted” Islamic laws and procedures that are identical to Sharia. Boko Haram might have deemed offensive any consideration of improving women’s empowerment through education instead of seeing it as a key issue of human rights and development. Thus, in April 2014, the group gained international notice and notoriety for the kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls and the subsequent #BringBackOurGirls campaign promoted by the then First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. The crime garnered international outrage and support to seek the return of the girls, of which at the time of publishing, 90 were still missing (Lewis, 2023). Boko Haram also used female kidnapping and suicide bombers as part of its strategy to increase its media coverage (Zenn & Pearson, 2014).
The gendered nature of Boko Haram’s tactics was used before and after the Chibok kidnapping. Boko Haram has committed gender-selective kidnappings and executions against adults and children throughout much of its history. This insurgent group is believed to have kidnapped up to an estimated 10,000 boys and men to be forcibly conscripted or enslaved (Hinshaw & Parkinson, 2016; Topol, 2017) and kidnapped hundreds of women and girls for pressured conversions to Islam, to marry Boko Haram combatants, to be used for sexual and domestic enslavement, or to be used for tactical strategy (Amnesty International, 2015; Omilusi, 2015; Zenn & Pearson, 2014). While Boko Haram has also engaged in bombings where the killing has been more indiscriminate or done based on religion or engagement in secular education, a significant portion of the abductions and killings were gender based.
Academic literature to date has addressed Boko Haram’s gendered crimes with an almost exclusive focus on women, girls, and children. Barkindo, Gudaku, and Wesley (2013) report on Boko Haram’s violence against Christian women and girls, defining gender-based violence as that conducted by males or male institutions against women and girls, thus definitionally excluding recognition of boys and men as victims. Pereira (2018) and Zenn and Pearson (2014) directed their attention to female victims of Boko Haram’s violence and briefly mentioned that insurgent violence is also directed toward men and boys. Pogoson and Saleh (2019) focused on female vulnerability to violence in Nigeria and argued that Nigeria’s security forces needed to prioritize the protection of women from violence. When discussing Boko Haram’s and al Shabaab’s1 tactics, Matfess (2020) omitted any mention of men and boy victims and compared the violence toward women with violence against civilians, thus comparing female gender identity with noncombatant identities. A report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (2015) on Boko Haram mostly excluded recognizing men and boys as victims of this gender-based violence while also acknowledging in other parts that men and boys were specifically targeted to be murdered or kidnapped. Likewise, Boukhars (2020) identified Boko Haram’s gendered crimes as being solely about the kidnappings of women and girls. In an edited book titled Boko Haram and International Law (Iyi & Strydom, 2018), a section containing three chapters focused on the welfare of girls and women in the conflict while the entire book mentioned the word “boys” a total of three times in reference to incidents of their victimization. The Boko Haram academic gendered victim discourse and analysis relates almost exclusively to females and tends to exclude males. To date, there appears little attention and acknowledgment of the civilian male victims in the literature or discourse.

"Big Berserker lady, bad puns and a lot of Blast." WIP (MHW)
featuring my buff "Half-Giant" lady Beth Ravencoft and some random hunter fellow.
So after successfully creating Beth using the male bodytype in Monster Hunter Wilds, I got inspired to try to do the same with her in MHWorld since ive been having to rely on the extremely underwhelming female Buff Gamma body chest armor to give her a bulky look.
After switching to the other one, I managed to both pretty much have a slightly bulkier look and ALSO she doesnt wear friggin bikini, AND The DemonLord headpiece gives her lore accurate glowing eyes and fangs! (also I can finally use the awesome Zinogre Wolf Head for an Ulfhednar look, instead of the lame anthro wolf ears the fem head had)
Im honestly mad I didnt consider doing this years ago XD
Anyway felt like sketching her slight armor redesign, really happy that it looks closer to her canon vampire hunter gear ^^

Monoma x reader who is Mirio’s younger sibling Part 6
I added Aoyama in ‘girl’s night’ so male readers can have a reason to be there <3 Also, apparently it’s canon that the girls agreed that Monoma’s objectively the most attractive hero course boy (if it weren’t for his personality they said 😭). I was told it’s in volume five but I can’t find it so is it in one of the light novels? Side stories? Please let me know where I can read it! I wanna feel validated for being head over heels in love with him!
Other parts:
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
Part 6/?
~~~~~~~~~~
“Man, it’s been over a week but I’m still sore!” Kirishima groans as he walks together with you, Ashido, Jiro, and Ojiro. Each of you are in your gym uniform with a bag or a water bottle. “But that just means he’s really that powerful. Togata, your brother’s real manly!”
Jiro grimaces at the mention of him, “I’d rather not think about that training…”
“Yeah, you had it rough, huh Jiro?” Ashido pipes in, remembering how Mirio had tied her earphone jacks around her and Kaminari, who was unfortunate enough to be the one closest to her.
“Well, that’s why we’re gonna train real hard, right guys!?”
“Yeah!” you and Ashido cheer while Jiro and Ojiro each raise an arm in response to Kirishima’s enthusiasm. It’s your day off. Kirishima suggested a group training at Gym Gamma. Everyone else are either training off on some other location or decided to do their own thing. “Hm? Do you think Bakugo’s still in there?” Kirishima asks, seeing the lights of the gym on. They usually shut down after some time when no one is inside and turn back on once it senses someone walking in. Ojiro furrows his brows. “If I remember… he left the dorms around six… would he really be training for seven hours straight?”
Kirishima shrugs, “Eh, maybe he took breaks. I wouldn’t put it past him to train for that long.”
“It could just be someone else,” Jiro says as Kirishima pushes the door open. Then—
“AHHH!!!” Jiro shrieks, falling on her back. She covers her eyes like acid as been thrown in them because HE’S THERE AGAIN! NAKED. AGAIN. Mirio casually looks over his shoulder while someone lets out a small “urk!” further in the gym. “Ohh, (y/n) and friends!”
“What’re you doing here senpai?” Kirishima asks.
You deadpan, helping poor Jiro and Ashido cover their eyes while looking at the ceiling yourself. “Nii-chan, cover up. My friends are here.”
“Right right,” he chuckles, taking his sweet time to pick up his pants. As he puts them on, he explains. “I’m here to train. Or, rather, assist in training.”
“Assist..?” Kirishima trails off as his gaze drifts to the other person in the gym, who isn’t as used to public nudity as Mirio and is scrambling to put on his gym clothes without accidentally fazing through. “Monoma from 1-B!?”
“Why do you guys always say it so dramatically..?” You don’t know if you should laugh or cry.
“So you’re helping Monoma train, senpai?” Ojiro asks.
“Yep. As you can probably tell, I’m teaching him how to use my quirk.”
Kirishima raises his hand, “Uh… sorry if I sound rude for this; but, uh, why..?”
Neito scoffs. “Typical 1-A. What, do you think your class are the only ones who can be mentored?” The usual bite in his tone is dulled by his flushed cheeks and the vulnerability of public nudity. Seriously, how the hell does Mirio do it? Kirishima waves his hands in dismissal. “No, that’s not what I mean. I’m more so asking if you guys know each other..?”
There is a pause. You and Neito freeze up and glance at Mirio.
“Yeah, you can say that. He’s sort of a relative, so I offered to help him train.”
“Sort of a relative..?” Jiro wonders to herself once she has her bearings back.
Mirio’s description has the corner of your lips quirking up. ‘Sort of a relative.’ Is he saying it to keep suspicions away or is it like he accepts him as his future brother in law? Which ever it is, it implies that Neito is family. That simple thought has you feeling giddy.
“What? (Y/n) you never told us that he’s related to you!” Mina exclaims, pointing an accusatory finger at Neito.
Okay, now accidentally being related to your boyfriend is an irrational fear you have, so that has you furrowing your brows. “We’re not blood related nor technically relatives yet, relax.” You guide Mina’s arm down.
“What does that even mean?”
Mirio clasps his hands together. “Well, we’ve been training for almost three hours, so,” he turns to Neito, who is more than ready to leave. “You wanna call it a day? We can still continue if you’re still up for it.”
The thought of being buck naked in front of 1-A students— not to mention you— sends him to flight for flight, and he is vehemently shaking his head to flee. His face is red till his ears. “Haha, yeah, I thought so. You up for ramen today?”
You perk up hearing this. Your brother, bringing your boyfriend out to eat? His favourite food nonetheless. Now that’s some development! You won’t have to worry about him plotting to kill him!
Seeing your obvious smile, Mirio turns to you. “Before you say anything, it’s because I’m such a good upperclassman.”
You deflate, but the smile remains anyway. “Good grief, you’re stubborn.”
“Won’t be a great hero otherwise! See you (y/n), you guys,” he waves once he and Neito got their bags.
The five of you wave at them as they walk out of the building.
***
“That was embarrassing earlier…” You and Neito are in his room, laying side by side on his bed. He has his face covered by his hand as he recalls what happened at Gym Gamma. You chuckle. “Yeah… If I had known you were training today I would’ve warned you.” You toss to the side facing him, and he parts his fingers to glance at you. “How’s progress?”
“Pretty terrible as you can imagine.”
“Mm… yeah, it took nii-san years to be able to do the basics. Even once he got to UA in his first year, he still sometimes messed up.” “He’s pretty amazing, your brother…” Neito trails off. He has a faraway gaze at the ceiling, face reflective and calm. You close your eyes, leaning against his shoulder. “What’re you thinking about?” Neito absentmindedly picks up your hand, fiddling with your fingers while he gets his thoughts in order. “Hm… I guess I’m just thinking about how he’s similar to me.”
You look at him and blink. “Ah, yeah, now that I think about it. Is that why you agreed?”
“Yeah, well,” Neito scratches the back of his head. “I didn’t realize it because he made it look easy, but when he pointed it out… yeah, it’s the kind of quirk you’d expect a support or espionage hero to have. But he found a way to make himself a star with it.”
This time, he turns his head to you. “Do you think… if I can master this quirk like him… I’d be more of a main character?”
Immediately, you respond, “You’re already a main character in my eyes.”
“No, seriously I mean—”
“It’s not fair how you monopolize my thoughts, you know,” you insist. He smiles a little. “Now that’s your problem for getting side tracked by a side character like me.”
“I’m gonna hit you.”
“What? Why so violent?” he teasingly pokes your cheek.
“Because there’s no way a side character is getting this much screen time in my head.”
“You’re so cheesy…”
“Hey, you’re the one who calls people ‘main character’ and yourself ‘side character’!”
Neito sighs, though he can’t stop a smile from forming on his face. “Okay fine, let me ask this way— do you think that I’ll be a lot stronger if I master your brother’s quirk?”
You grin. Is that even a question? “Strong. Strong as hell.”
He ruffles your hair. “Well then, I’ll have to work hard to be like your brother.”
You laugh, leaning into his touch. “You don’t have to be like him… But I’m glad you’re getting along…”
The two of you lay there in silence. The warmth of your bodies comforting, and lulling you to relaxation in Neito’s arms. You get a glimpse of the time, 5:01 pm.
“Oh shit, girl’s night with the girls and Aoyama!” Neito raises a brow as you got up from the bed. Seeing his questioning gaze you say, “Girl’s night as, like, vibes. Apparently. Not just strictly girls.”
“What? Where?”
“The common room here.”
“I see… Well, I’ll be in my room if you need me.”
“‘Kay!”
***
You were able to get down to the common room before any of your classmates arrived, so they didn’t notice you walking down from upstairs. That would be suspicious as hell.
The girls of 1-A and 1-B, and you, plus the boys who passed ‘the vibes’ ergo Aoyama, Koda, Shoji, Shishida, and Rin are all sitting together in the lounge area with drinks purposefully made to look like alcohol. It’s really not all that sacred of a girl’s night. The other boys passing by to get something from the kitchen can listen in if they really wanted to. “Did you guys have heroism class yesterday?” “No— why!? Is the exercise insanely difficult?!”
“Yeah, it was excruciating!”
“No way..!”
That is how the general conversation went on. Despite being a fun ‘girl’s night’, it was more of a review on heroism. Which, you were more than happy to partake in as long as you’re with your friends. Though, Aoyama thought otherwise.
“Mademoiselles— shouldn’t we take this as a chance to take a break from the stress of hero work?”
Everyone’s chatter slowly dies down as they think about it.
“I suppose it is a good idea… but what can we talk about?” YaoMomo asks.
“Well, what do people usually talk about in girl’s night?” you ask.
Jiro smiles wryly, “You know, it’s kinda sad that we have to ask that…”
Mina raises her hand up. “Ooh~! Lets talk about love!!!”
“L-Love!?”
You stiffen along with Uraraka. The two of you make eye contact, but you both look away, agreeing to not pry in whatever secret the other is worried about. Not that one of them is exactly a secret…
Kodai raises her hand a little. “What does that exactly entail..?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure everyone in the first year hero course is single.” You can feel the gazes of the 1-B students discreetly turn to you when Jiro said that.
Hagakure places a hand on her chin. “Then… who do you think is the course’s cutest guy?” “Cute as in adorable or as in charming?”
“Lets say overall charm.”
Rin, Shishida, Shoji, and Koda glance at each other, wondering if they wanna be here to hear all this. Aoyama meanwhile is all for the tea. The boys in the kitchen subtly inch closer to the lounge area with their ears peeled.
“Ooh~! Todoroki’s definitely one of them!” Mina says. “He’s 1-A’s ikemen!”
“I see it, yeah.”
“Todoroki-kun is rather handsome…”
“I’d say Kaibara-kun would be our class’s ikemen, huh?”
At the mention of his name, the boy stares at the ceiling while his fellow classmates in the kitchen nudge and elbow him as vengeance.
“Yeah..! He’s so handsome!”
“If we’re talking cute as in erm… cute…” Uraraka hesitantly speaks up, averting her eyes. She holds her drink in front of her for moral support as her face heats up by the second. “It would be… Deku-kun..?” “Okayyy Ochako I see you.”
“Midorya’s the cinnamon roll who can beat people up for you.”
“Is that a criteria..?”
“Of course!”
“Don’t forget about our cuties over here!” Tsunotori says, hands gesturing to the boys who passed the vibes. They’d been sitting silently, taking everything in. When everyone looks at them, they each turn away, scratching the back of their head with a blush. Except Aoyama who takes the compliment in stride. (Our masc presenting readers are part of said cuties.)
“No no, not cutie, I am dazzling!”
A few more of the boys are brought up, the group highlighting their charming sides and the others either adding to it or simply agreeing. The boys in the kitchen celebrate to themselves whenever one of their names gets a mention, listening to what the girls like about them. It had them blushing and smiling ear to ear. Giggling, even. “Sato-kun’s cake is delicious! And he made cookies this morning.”
“Does that count as a trait?”
“Absolutely it does!”
“Wait then we skipped over so much other charming traits from the others.”
“We can all agree that a guy that can cook good food is instantly more attractive right?”
There is a pause in the conversation as the 1-A students glance at each other, telepathically communicating the same person to each other.
“What? Who are you thinking of?” Yanagi asks.
“…Bakugo can cook well, kero…”
“That’s surprising,” Komori says.
“I remember he yelled at Todoroki for cutting the chives wrong in the training camp.”
You laugh. “Hah! I remember that!” “Bakugo…” Mina thinks about it. “He’s not bad looking..? Actually, he’s kinda handsome?”
“Yeah, you’re kinda right.”
“He reminds me of a Pomeranian, though.”
“Hah!” you snicker, as a memory is dug up from the depths of your mind. “Bakugo’s Best Jeanist hair!”
“His what now?” Tokage blinks, confused like the rest of the group’s 1-B students.
You giggle like a maniac as you pull out your phone. “Oh right, you guys weren’t there to see it. Hold on, I have a picture in my phone.”
“Togata, do you have a death wish..?” Tsuyu asks. If Bakugo found out you have a picture of him, and with that hair… oh boy.
“I took it while Sero and Kirishima were distracting him!” You pull it up for the 1-B girls and guests to see. The boys eavesdropping in the kitchen even move closer to look. They were quite fascinated, especially at the blurry transition picture of when his hair was reverting to normal.
“There’s something unnerving about his hair being… kempt…” says Awase, one of the intruding boys from the kitchen.
“Hey! It’s girls night you guys!”
“Wha— Rin and Shishida were invited!”
“It’s cause they passed the vibes!”
“I’m vibes! I’m so vibes!” Awase is left grumbling. Though, no one shooed the intruding boys away.
“Bakugo’s pretty charming if he wasn’t so… aggressive. Though, I guess there are some people that like that,” Tokage shrugs.
“Kero, you know who else is actually kinda handsome if it wasn’t for his… concerning personality?”
The 1-A students, again, telepathically communicate. Only this time, you aren’t in the mix. You turn your head back and forth between your classmates’ knowing looks in utter confusion. “What? Who?”
“C’mon (y/n), you know…”
“I don’t know?”
Even the 1-B students are catching on.
“Ah, I think I know who you mean…” Kendo smiles wryly.
“I’m so lost.”
Yanagi leans over to you, whispering so that your classmates can’t hear. “Togata-san, you probably don’t realize it since you find nothing wrong with his personality, but try to think about what he’s like in your classmates’ perspective…”
The lightbulb in your head switches on. “Ohh! Nei— Ohhh, Monoma?”
“Yes! Jeez (y/n)!”
You sweat, thankful that they didn’t notice your slip up.
“I’m gonna be honest since he’s not here— he’s probably the cutest guy in our grade! You know, aside from when he’s berating our class…”
“Yeah, he’s like a prince! When I’m not worried for his mental health…”
“I can’t help but agree with you… though of course, his personality with our class is a bit concerning…”
You sigh, feeling both proud that your friends can’t help but admit that your boyfriend is drop dead gorgeous, but also in distress from the other edge to their words. Tetsutetsu (intruder) just laughs, raising his red cup filled with apple juice. “Yep, that’s our Monoma!”
“He probably is the most charming based on all the criteria we’ve previously mentioned…” Kodai says with a finger on her chin in thought.
“Good fashion sense, knows how to cook, knows how to deal with kids, aside from his grades is smart…”
“Isn’t he lowkey boyfriend material?”
You can already feel the pride swelling in your chest and the corners of your mouth twitching to a smile. So, before your expression can reveal the smugness you feel for having such a wonderful boyfriend, you raise your glass. “I think we have come to agreement that N— Monoma is the cutest and most boyfriend material in the first year hero course. A toast, shall we?”
Awase side eyes you, knowing full well why you sound so triumphant, but he’ll give this one to you. He raises his cup. “I beg to differ, but agree to disagree.”
“I hate to admit it but the board has made a decision.”
“I’ll admit it since he’s not here. Lets all agree to not tell him about our verdict, okay?”
“…he’ll hold it over our heads forever.”
“Uh huh.”
By now, everyone in the common room has their glasses and cups raised. “To agreeing that Monoma’s the cutest boy in the first year hero course but swearing to never tell him!”
“Cheers!”
You had your fingers crossed behind you. After all, who said you didn’t adore all sides of his personality?
do you have any idea how fucking hard it is to be a zombie in this economy? you just go out there trying to have a bite to eat so you go up to some randos and they just start SHOOTING YOU! like straight up just SHOOTING YOU! like what the hell man? i mean i know im trying to rip your brains out and shit but cant you let a guy just fucking eat???? speaking of, this guy's brain tastes weird like im pretty sure its at least fifty percent plastic, maybe even a hundred percent i don't know. was he your boyfriend or something? does this mean you're single? wanna go out sometime? you're annoying as shit but i like that in a man, keeps you on your toes y'know? keeps you humble as well like you just wake up in bed one day and go "oh god this is the guy im dating and i don't even want to break up with him or anything what the hell's wrong with me," which i think is a pretty important thing to have-- at least for me 'cause im awesome as shit and if i don't have that sort of anchor i'll probably lke turn into god or something and i dont wanna be god. not out of self-esteem issues or anything, just out of principle 'cause i think that everyone should have a fair chance at killing me which not gonna lie is pretty easy but that's besides the point, the point is that i think anyone who wants to be god is fucking stupid and should just fucking die. like, hello??? who the hell do you think you are rying to reign above other people? are you stupid? are you dumb? hello? anyways, if you wanna know more about what i think of this i post a lot on r/atheism, im user u/waffleontopp-- wait , do i have to explain reddit to you? 'cause you seem more like a tumblrina to me, honestly reddit's pretty similar to tumblr so you won't have a lot of trouble figuring it out on your own but don't be shocked ifbyou see cock and balls on there since porn isn't banned there unlike tumblr. how's that whole thing treating you by the way? must be tough not seeing some girl's boobs every once in a while-- wait are you gay or bi? must be tough not seeing some guy's boobs every once in a while, that won't be problem if you start dating me though. haha just kidding, my chest is basically concave now after a survivor beat me repeatedly with a baseball bat so ive got like negative double D's now. oh but i do know this one guygirlthing whose boobs are out basically 24/7 who likes to hang out with me and this other guy so maybe that'll make up for it. they're not zombies and im pretty sure they didnt get infected so you don't have to worry about that but they miiiight have rabies or something im not sure to be honest so maybe watch out for that instead. if youre wondering why two non-infected humans are hanging out with a zombie then we're in the same boat, might have something to do with the possible rabies i mentioned earlier. also if they tell you that im their pet zombie that is simply not true, if anything it's the other way around, they're my pet guard dogs and they do basically anything i say even if it kills them. or at least i wish it would kill them, they're way too hardy in my opinion, i need them to die so i can eat their brains-- oh but then i'll have to do manual labor. hmm, on second thought, they can stay actually i don't wanna deal with all that. normally i dont even do my own kills nowadays, i just leave a trap or get the other two to do it for me, you guys just caught me offguard which is lowkey embarassing but trust me i am a huge, like Huge alpha sigma gamma male and would totally dominate everyone else around me. but not in a god way of course, just in a lone sigma alpha gamma wolf kinda way like those anime wolf furry drawings. you know the ones. and like im not a furry but not gonna lie they totally popped off with those
Woman’ is not an ambiguous term open to an evolving interpretation.” - the attorneys representing the women who want to keep the sorority house they pay $8,000 for male free.
By Genevieve Gluck December 14, 2023
The female complainants at the center of a lawsuit to have a trans-identified male removed from a sorority at the University of Wyoming have re-filed their appeal, demanding the court clearly define the word “woman.” Artemis Langford, previously known as Dallin, was accepted into Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) last September, spurring several women to file a lawsuit to have him removed.
In August, the case of Westenbroek v. Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity was dismissed on the basis that re-defining “woman” to include males was “Kappa Kappa Gamma’s bedrock right.” Despite hearing testimony from the women, some of whom stated Langford had “watched” them undress with an erection, Judge Alan Johnson rejected the women’s request to rescind Langford’s admission into the sorority.
However, on December 4, the young women filed an appeal to have the dismissal reversed, arguing that Langford’s presence in the sorority house “caused emotional distress in a personalized and unique way,” and demanding that the court clearly define the word “woman.”
In the appeal, the women reassert that Langford displayed “strange and sexual behavior” towards them, and caused them a level of discomfort and anxiety amounting to personal injury. It reiterates claims that Langford had been filming and photographing the women without their consent and had displayed a visible erection while in the house.
“Specifically, Langford’s unwanted staring, photographing, and videotaping of the Plaintiffs, as well as his asking questions about sex and displaying a visible erection while in the house, invaded Plaintiffs’ privacy and caused emotional distress in a personalized and unique way. And thus Plaintiffs have pleaded a viable direct claim. This Court should therefore reverse the district court’s dismissal of Plaintiffs’ derivative and direct claims,” the appeal reads.
Some of the allegations are a reiteration of previous claims, which Langford’s attorney, Rachel Berkness, has attempted to portray as both false and discriminatory during court proceedings. In June, Berkness filed a motion to dismiss the sorority women’s claims against Langford as “frivolous and malicious,” stating: “The allegations against Ms. Langford … were borne out of a hypothesis in search of evidence and pieced together using drunken party stories. Ms. Langford is not a victim; she is a target.”
The initial suit, filed at the end of March, had asserted that Langford, who is 6’2″, had been voyeuristically peeping on the women while they were in intimate situations, and, on at least one occasion, had a visible erection while doing so.
“One sorority member walked down the hall to take a shower, wearing only a towel … She felt an unsettling presence, turned, and saw [Langford] watching her silently,” the court document reads.
“[Langford] has, while watching members enter the sorority house, had an erection visible through his leggings,” the suit says. “Other times, he has had a pillow in his lap.”
As evidenced by his Tinder profile, Langford is “sexually interested in women.” It was further stated in that Langford took photographs of the women while at a sorority slumber party, where he also is said to have made inappropriate comments.
“At a slumber party, Langford ‘repeatedly questioned the women about what vaginas look like, [and] breast cup size,’ and stared as one Plaintiff changed her clothes,” reads the appeal. “Langford also talked about his virginity and discussed at what age it would be appropriate for someone to have sex… And he stated that he would not leave one of the sorority’s sleepovers until after everyone fell asleep.”
Langford was also said to have taken pictures of female members “without their knowledge or consent.” Some of the women noted that they had “observed Langford writing detailed notes about [the students] and their statements and behavior.”
In May, a judge twice prohibited the women from suing anonymously, while stipulating that Langford’s identity should remain protected. Langford was referred to by the pseudonym “Terry Smith” and male pronouns in the legal documents. Six of the women then refiled the lawsuit under their own names, and are requesting that the court void Langford’s membership in KKG.
“It is really uncomfortable. Some of the girls have been sexually assaulted or sexually harassed. Some girls live in constant fear in our home,” one of the sisters, Hannah, told Megyn Kelly during an interview on her podcast.
Rather than addressing the privacy and safety concerns of the women in KKG, who had each paid $8,000 to live in the sorority house, “Kappa officials recommended that … they should quit Kappa Kappa Gamma entirely.”
In June, the sorority filed a motion to dismiss the suit, calling it a “frivolous” attempt to eject Langford for “their own political purposes.” According to the motion, the women suing were flinging “dehumanizing mud” in order to “bully Ms. Langford on the national stage.” The sorority invited the women to resign their membership “if a position of inclusion is too offensive for their personal values.”
In the motion, lawyers for Kappa Kappa Gamma attempted to depict the suit as an attempt by “a vocal minority” to impose their views on Langford and the rest of the sorority members.
“Perhaps the greatest wrongs in this case are not the ones Plaintiffs and their supporters imagine they have suffered, but the ones that they have inflicted through their conduct since filing the Complaint,” they wrote. “Regardless of personal views on the rights of transgender people, the cruelty that Plaintiffs and their supporters have shown towards Langford and anyone in Kappa who supports Langford is disturbing.”
The recent appeal against the suit’s dismissal, filed on behalf of the young women by Sylvia May Mailman of the Independent Women’s Law Center, the Law Office of John G. Knepper, Schaerr Jaffe LLP, and Cassie Craven of Longhorn Law firm, details several alleged violations of the sorority sisters’ rights, as well as KKG’s own policies.
“The question at the heart of this case is the definition of ‘woman,’ a term that Kappa has used since 1870 to prescribe membership, in Kappa’s governing documents,” the appeal states. “Using any conceivable tool of contractual interpretation, the term refers to biological females. And yet, the district court avoided this inevitable conclusion by applying the wrong law and ignoring the factual assertions in the complaint.”
It goes on to note that from 1870 to 2018, KKG defined “woman” to exclude “transgender women” and that any new definition may not be enacted without a KKG bylaw amendment.
Numerous examples are given of rules put forward by the sorority which use the term “woman,” with the attorneys maintaining that “‘woman’ is not an ambiguous term open to an evolving interpretation.”
KKG leaders who approved Langford’s membership have “subverted Kappa’s mission and governing documents by changing the definition of ‘woman’ without following the required processes.” Kappa President Mary Pat Rooney’s legal team has argued that Langford’s admission into the sorority was based on a 2015 position statement which asserts that KKG “is a single-gender organization comprised of women and individuals who identify as women.”
However, the women’s legal appeal points out that KKG can only change its membership criteria by amending its Bylaws, a process which requires a two-thirds majority approval vote by a Convention of board members. As a Convention to amend Bylaws to reflect the position statement was never held, the appeal states, Langford’s acceptance into KKG is a violation of accepted policies.
KKG leadership is also accused of using “coercive” tactics during the process of voting Langford into the organization in September 2022. After an initial anonymous vote conducted via Google poll failed to result in Langford’s acceptance into the sorority, Chapter leaders developed a second, non-anonymous voting system in which multiple sisters changed their votes because of “fear of reprisal.”
In addition to denying women anonymity, Wyoming chapter officials, after consultation with Kappa’s leadership, had told members that voting against Langford’s admission was evidence of “bigotry” that “is a basis for suspension or expulsion from the Sorority.”
Curiously, prior court documents also reveal that Langford was admitted to KKG despite not even meeting their basic academic eligibility requirements.
While KKG requires applicants to have a 2.7 Grade Point Average (GPA), Langford only had a 1.9 at the time he submitted his membership request, and was not on a grade probation. The legal complaint notes that this indicates Langford’s application was “evaluated using a different standard.”
In November, two longstanding alumni members of KKG revealed they had been expelled in an apparent retaliation for advocating that membership be restricted to females only. Patsy Levang and Cheryl Tuck-Smith had been members of the sorority for over 50 years, and had contributed to fundraising efforts for the organization.
Despite their long history of supporting KKG, Levang and Tuck-Smith were voted out by the sorority’s national leadership on November 9. Levang had been the past Kappa Kappa Gamma National Foundation President, while Tuck-Smith was an active contributor and organizer.
The women’s removal came after they had been vocally opposed to the admission of Langford to the KKG chapter at the University of Wyoming, and had supported a lawsuit launched by members of that sorority to have him removed.
Since news of the lawsuit first became widely circulated, Langford has received ample sympathetic coverage in mainstream media, with one MSNBC host labeling him “brave and unique.” In a recent profile by the Washington Post, Langford was given a platform to accuse the sorority sisters involved in the suit of lying while being compared to women who had historically been denied the right to a basic education.
