slowly crawling out of my hidey hole
hello! long time eh? i promise i haven't been at exams for all of two months. sometimes real life happens and you have to go spend time with your family across the country and feel some feels. ya feel?
long ramble under cut
at some point i developed this mental allergy to the IDEA of my test of time hood and tried to set up a contemporary game to play in. that took forever and i grew tired of that too before i'd even played it. also dabbled in sims 3 a bit. the island paradise ep is a bit of a whale isn't it? also why is that game so janky? why does it break every time you add a mod? why is the native story progression barely even there? why do ALL townies age up into that horrible alien outfit and space boots i can't get rid of because it came with the seasons ep i believe? why is it enabled for all outfit types? who is responsible for the game being not optimised at all? also where does time go when i play?
also there's this game called A Highland Song that's actually good and has taken over my brain slightly. You should play it, it's beautiful. You may remember the creators from Heaven's Vault which is also beautiful and you should also play that. My gamer partner doesn't understand my longstanding sims 2 monogamy (more like mono game-y, ayooo) and has convinced me to try a new thing every now and then and yeah, not the worst idea it turns out.
I can't promise daily updates this time, mainly because i signed up for too many classes again and have to get through the entire european literary canon in the next few months. just letting y'all know that i'm fine, i'm home, i'm returning to my little civilization and whatever will have to pass for normalcy now.
also. genocide is bad, actually. is this a tone crime? this is barely even an entertainment blog but i personally believe there are cases where silence is complicity, and this is the one platform i have. so,
please consider donating to relief efforts for the Palestinian people. Here's the one Biden's administration recently cut off funding from based on dubious Israeli allegations: https://donate.unrwa.org/-landing-page/en_EN
palestine children's relief fund: https://www.pcrf.net/
wfp: https://www.wfp.org/emergencies/palestine-emergency
if you're in the uk, write to you're mp and demand a ceasefire: https://www.map.org.uk/campaigns/it-is-becoming-impossible-to-sustain-human-life-in-gaza-demand-a-ceasefirenow
please use your voice in whatever way you can to oppose ongoing crimes against humanity.
be safe.

Δε γράφω δίγλωσσα post συνήθως, αλλά, I don’t usually write bilingual posts, but,
To all those who have ever judged someone for being a multiplayer/online gamer, I’d just like to report that a) on behalf of the gamer community we wish you a happy 14-day quarantine (and let’s see how you handle that) b) on one of the servers I usually hang out there was a ceasefire announced towards all medical/paramedic personnel so they wouldn’t have to worry about their accounts in-game (since it’s a 24/7 one)

[ad_1] Libya's fault traces surfaced as native teams took completely different positions within the 2011 NATO-backed rebellion that toppled Moammar Gadhafi. An tried democratic transition slid uncontrolled as armed teams constructed native energy bases and coalesced round rival political factions, seizing management of financial belongings. After a battle for Tripoli in 2014, one faction together with most parliament members moved east and acknowledged Khalifa Haftar as army chief, ultimately organising a parallel authorities.A United Nations-backed settlement led to a brand new, internationally acknowledged authorities in Tripoli, however jap factions spurned the deal and Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) attacked the capital in 2019.The squabbling armed factions that managed western Libya got here collectively to again the Tripoli authorities towards Haftar they usually repelled his assault in 2020 with assist from Turkey, resulting in a ceasefire and a brand new UN-backed peace course of.How did the most recent dispute unfold? The peace course of introduced in a brand new authorities of nationwide unity below Prime Minister Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah with a mandate to supervise nationwide elections scheduled for December 2021, however there was no settlement on guidelines for the vote and the method collapsed. In jap Libya, the parliament declared Dbeibah's authorities unlawful and appointed a brand new one below Fathi Bashagha. Dbeibah rejected its strikes, saying he would cede energy solely after an election.Meanwhile the western Libya factions that had joined collectively towards Haftar had been once more jostling for place in Tripoli with occasional skirmishes, and a few noticed Bashagha as their finest guess for development.Bashagha tried to enter Tripoli quickly after he was appointed in March however pro-Dbeibah factions blocked his convoy. He tried once more in May, however left Tripoli after a short shootout. As the months handed, alliances and coalitions among the many Tripoli factions shifted as each Dbeibah and Bashagha tried to courtroom key gamers. On the streets of Tripoli, armed forces rubbed up towards one another's territory. When fighting erupted between two groups on Friday night, factions aligned with Bashagha started mounting what seemed like coordinated assaults in a brand new effort to put in him within the capital. But the transfer failed, apparently leaving Dbeibah extra firmly entrenched. What are the possibilities of a political deal? The highly effective jap faction of Haftar and parliament speaker Aguila Saleh has proven little willingness to compromise on its objective of eradicating Dbeibah and putting in Bashagha. However, with Bashagha seeming unable to construct a coalition of western factions that may set up him in Tripoli, they might need to assume once more.Turkey's continued army presence round Tripoli, the place it maintained air bases with drones after serving to fend off the jap assault in 2020, means one other Haftar offensive towards the capital seems to be most unlikely for now. Some politicians have raised the concept of one other try to type a brand new authorities that every one sides can settle for -- one thing Dbeibah would possible attempt to block.Meanwhile, diplomacy has stalled and settlement on how you can maintain elections as an enduring resolution to Libya's political disputes seems to be additional away than ever.International efforts to dealer an settlement have been hampered by disagreement among the many nations concerned and amongst native factions that many Libyans consider wish to keep away from elections to be able to grasp on to energy. Many of Libya's inhabitants of practically 7 million concern that signifies that nonetheless the following interval of negotiations and positioning play out, it would solely be adopted by one other outbreak of violence. How does it have an effect on Libya's oil?Control over revenues from Libya's foremost export, its oil output of as much as 1.
3 million barrels per day, has lengthy been the largest prize for all the primary political and army factions.Groups have repeatedly shut down output earlier than as a tactic to place stress on the federal government in Tripoli, the place all international oil gross sales income is channeled into the central financial institution by means of worldwide agreements.Forces aligned with Haftar, whose sway extends throughout a lot of the territory that features foremost oil fields and export terminals, have been chargeable for the largest shutdowns in recent times. The final shutdown, which diminished exports by about half, ended when Dbeibah changed the National Oil Corporation head with an ally of Haftar -- a transfer some noticed as an effort to courtroom the jap commander and make him extra open to a political deal. That could also be sufficient to cease one other shutdown whereas pro-Bashagha factions work out their subsequent transfer. But with Libya's political tangle so removed from decision, there appears little probability that oil exports will keep untouched for very lengthy. [ad_2] Source link

[Overwatch] Blink first (G, Akande/Lucio, 1k)
So, back when I first started taking prompts, I rugby tackled people in the Doomcio discord server and made them choose a number between 1 and 75 so I could practice off the drabble list. Many humoured me, bewildered and patient. One of those was @yoitsmars
This is the first of the drabbles making it explicit that I’ve been drawing a line between many of them into a loose series. Writing things out of sequence is a lot of fun. I recommend it. You can see the full Masterlist for this series here.
Blink first (Can also be read on AO3) for @yoitsmars
Doomfist | Akande Ogundimu / Lúcio Correia dos Santos (G)
Part 7 of Ceasefire.
Fluff #3 "I just feel safe with you. Like nothing bad can happen."
It takes half an hour of stonewalling and, at last, Fareeha snarls in disgust and frustration. The former stings for the hot look of betrayal she throws at Lúcio before she storms from the room. Lúcio can understand. In their line of work, and the story he's heard of how Fareeha lost her mother. A traitor would be the highest of enemies on Commander Amari's list.
Lúcio is barely left alone five minutes before Hana Song barrels into the room in a huffy storm of solidarity.
"I don't believe her," Hana flips her hair, arms crossing tightly over her chest. She throws herself against Lúcio's side on the bench and the force of her glower boosts his spirits. Just how did she convince them to let her in?
Under the shared spotlight, Lúcio glances from his friend to the one-way reflective glass before them and wonders which of their leaders is conferring with Fareeha's suspicions.
Well, Overwatch leaders. He still hasn't decided if they're his leaders yet.
"Which part?"
"Oh, I know you're having sex with the big guy with the fist." Hana flexes her right hand like she's donning a glove. She pouts at him dramatically and raises a conspiratorial eyebrow.
Having sex. The clinical disclosure makes Lúcio flinch on the inside and a thin laugh bubbles up, weak as any defence he could mount. He expected more slang from Hana, eight years his junior; something to soften three months of stolen nights and early mornings being exactly where he wasn't supposed to be.
"So-- you-- um...."
She isn't angry?
"I warned you, right?"
Lúcio sighs, glancing away.
Hana follows his gaze, scanning the narrow concrete walls of the not-interrogation room. "I didn't think you'd take it this far. Three months is longer than any of my relationships."
Lúcio snarls gently under his breath and tangles a hand in the loose fall of his dreadlocks, wishing he tied them back this morning. Is she trying to help him right now or not? "Could you--" He glances meaningfully at the reflective window.
Tell me what they're saying in there. Run some interference. Help me out here.
Hana elbows his shoulder to stop his flustered stammering. "Did you tell him anything?"
Lúcio straightens from his slump, swiping a hand as if he could clear the mere suggestion from being breathed into existence. "No way."
"Are you sure?"
"Hana."
"Yeah."
"Girl."
"You know -- the second right before you're about to lose it, and he gets you to spill a few state secrets, too."
"'State'--" Lúcio squints at her. Is she really pulling that analogy? What's in her head?
"Okay, Overwatch secrets." Hana shrugs at his evident confusion, then throws her head back in a theatrical moan, back arched in parody of a blissed out orgasm. "'The password is password!' Like in the movies."
Lúcio blinks at her, bemused because they both know it's nothing like the movies -- and Hana, especially, a film star and decorated soldier knows it better than most. "Of course not. We're not like... we never...." He stumbles because even though Hana pulls him towards mirth, her insinuation and its charges make his heart race.
He hasn't. He hasn't betrayed them.
He closes his eyes. Calm comes in a short, deep breath of chilled air, and he exhales.
"We don't talk about that kind of thing."
Hana's dark eyes glitter at him as she adjusts the pink headphones slung around her neck. "What do you talk about?"
"Just...." He wrings his memory through the low hum of distress in his ears. His chest tightens thinking of Akande's hand on his thigh, gentle kisses atop a marble counter top and careful fingers behind his neck. Akande receiving him at the end of a mission in the long shadows a closed cafe, at the end of the summer games on his back in a hotel room. That one time Lucio snuck him onto base. "We mock each other a lot."
Truth be told, they hardly speak about anything of substance. It was the implicit agreement.
Hana nods slowly with a noise of interest, pout comically dubious as she searches his face, and it clicks. Lúcio's shoulders straighten and he pulls back, offended. He looks again at the gaming headset around her neck, keenly suspicious of its microphone.
"Are you working me? For them?"
Nineteen years old, and already a servicewoman. Hana Song would go places.
“Aren't you one of us, too?” At his friend's shrewd look, he can understand now where she pulls the depth of her acting ability. She is unbothered by his revelation, shrugging with a shake of her head. "Like I said, I don't believe that you're a threat. No matter who you sleep with."
Lúcio eyes her warily, disbelieving. "Why?"
"You're Lúcio." The young soldier throws a hand at the mirrored glass, uncaring of their audience. "They don't get it. They're old. They haven't grown up with this." She makes a fist, drums it from his heart to hers, not a shade of the selfie sly gamer in her sharp gaze. "We're the future. And I know what you stand for -- we all do. And I just feel safe with you. Like nothing bad can happen." Lúcio's stomach sinks with guilt as Hana's hand drops to her side, dark eyes holding his intently. "As long as you stop this right now. Or you continue, and you report to 76."
Is she serious?
Lúcio stiffens and stares at his reflection in the glass. "They want me to be an informant?"
"You might know more than you think," Hana offers, leaning in to his shoulder in solidarity, voice quiet, almost kind. "But this can't keep going, Lúcio, come on. It's dangerous for all of us. And for all the people who look up to you. Think about it."
Lúcio bites his tongue. He's spent the last three months keeping their meetings in the latest, darkest corners of his schedule so he hasn't had to.
But she isn't wrong.
"It's not what you think," he says, swallowing thickly.
"I don't know what it is, but I know what that long face means." Hana's lips brush his cheek, sweet and conciliatory. "Listen to Fareeha. Make up your mind. Then make the call."

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: War of `66. First day, last clashes.
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) War of `66. First day, last clashes. As is usual in the first battleday, most of the fights were pretty loopsided. In five of the fights the losing side failed to get even a single win, and fourteen of the remaining fights were decided by 3-1 odds or better. Still. Some clans refused to accept defeat, and fought grimly on. Not all of them succeeded, but a trio of the fights were turned, and four of them was decided by margins of less than a handfull of wins. When the time for further fighting ran out, the scores stood: Div 1 W&D HQ 134 - 12 B.o.A.D. The Arcanists did not add to their score, but the Warlocks got enough additional objectives for a crushing 11-1 win. Winters Coming 167 - 55 Spirit of Bunny The fighting continued unabated. But despite the Bunnies best efforts W.C. ended up winning better than 75% of the fights. Probable Round 2 matchups: W&D HQ - Spirit of Bunny Winters Coming - B.o.A.D. Div 2 Northwind Dragons 95 - 20 M&L Team Banzai The Banzai`ers, finally gave up the struggle, but the Dragons continued to claim objectives. Eventually they tired of the game, and stopped just short of an outright 5-1 outclassing. T.B. BlackWatch 42 - 46 Winter`s Coming BlackWatch managed to get in front before W.C. counterattacked. As the time started to run out, BlackWatch was two objectives behind. They had to resign or try to get some more wins. But their two last attempts ended in failure. Probable Round 2 matchups: Northwind Dragons - Winter`s Coming T.B. BlackWatch - M&L Team Banzai Div 3 Death`s Collectors 46 - 11 Star League Some additional fighting was reported, and the Collectors won most of these clashes as well. In the end their success margin against the Leaguers was above 80% Avengers of Bunny 125 - 35 SH5 Another bakers dozen fights were reported. The Bunnies bested the Slaughterers in most of these as well, and could later celebrate a solid 3-1 victory Probable Round 2 matchups: Death`s Collectors - SH5 Avengers of Bunny - Star League Div 4 B.S.L.R. 98 - 7 M&L B.C. 13th A.D. The Cats finally folded, but the Rangers claimed sufficient additional objectives to get a punishing 14-1 win. "R.V." 110 - 96 D.t.S.B. R.V. finally decided to go easier on the Brigade. The Brigade promptly got sufficient repairs done to launch a massive counterattack that nearly carried the day for them. Probable Round 2 matchups: B.S.L.R. - D.t.S.B. "R.V." - M&L B.C. 13th A.D. Div 5 Heroes 111 - 19 Mad Scientist.7 The Heroes kept hitting the now defenceless Scientists, and emerged as clear victors with a 5-1 win in their pockets. D.D.A. 71 - 1 Alpha Legion The Legion might have tried to negotiate a ceasefire and surrender, but the asylants used them for some additional target practice. Ronins 66 - 8 Death`s Revenge D.R. secured another pair of objectives, thereby reducing the Ronins margin of victory to "only" 8-1. Renegades 60 - 19 Diamond Dragons Both clans claimed an adiitional handfull of wins, which gave the Renegades a final success rate above 75%. Probable Round 2 matchups: Heroes - Ronins D.D.A. - Renegades Mad Scientist.7 - Death`s Revenge Alpha Legion - Diamond Dragons Div 6 Defenders of Bunny 107 - 45 MurderBots The MurderBots managed to claim another short handfull of wins, but the Bunnies still had more than twice as many in the end. ARMORD CORE 57 - 36 t&t A last bakers dozen of clashes erupted. t&t won all but one of them, but even so they could not match A.C.`s total score. Smurf Platoon 69 - 14 ***R.V.*** The Smurfs got another pair of wins, but ended the fighting just short of an outright 5-1 triumph over R.V. Chess Dragons 74 - 0 M&L B.o.P.S. The Smurfs refused to get violent here, and the Dragons got nearly another score of unopposed wins Probable Round 2 matchups: Defenders of Bunny - Smurf Platoon ARMORED CORE - Chess Dragons MurderBots - ***R.V.*** t&t - M&L B.o.P.S. Div 7 T.B 1st K.H. 99 - 18 **R.V.** Nearly a score additional clashes were reported. The Highlanders won most of them, but R.V at least managed to bring their victory ratio down to 5-1. Black Star Bandits 39 - 0 M&L A.R.S.E. The Smurfs tried the non-violent aproach, but the Bandits claimed another short dozen unopposed wins. Behemoth 38 - 37 JC`s Rowdy Bunch The Behemoths managed to get past the Bunch and build a small lead. But the Bunch pressed hard to catch up, and the final win was just seconds before the light flashed. T.I.o.M.T. 47 - 6 Deaths Hecklers No further fighting was reported, so the Misfits ended with an undisputed 7-1 win. Probable Round 2 matchups: T.B. 1st K.H. - Behemoth Black Star Bandits - T.I.o.M.T. **R.V.** - JC`s Rowdy Bunch M&L A.R.S.E. - Deaths Hecklers Div 8 Major Steel 23 - 0 Karma II The Steelers claimed nearly an additional dozen wins, while Karma made no offensive moves at all. Murdermech mini 103 - 27 Mad Scientist 1 The Scientists launched a late counterattack. But despite gaining some ground they were never able to seriously threathen Murdermechs win. *R.V.* 65 - 39 I.N.A. The Alliance claimed another pair of objectives. But R.V.`s last offensive netted them a dozen objectives and a solid win. Ronins 2 45 - 0 Jagdstaffel 2 As no further action took place, the Ronins ended with and unopposed win. Probable Round 2 matchups: Major Steel - *R.V.* Murdermech Mini - Ronins 2 Karma II - I.N.A. Mad Scientist 1 - Jagdstaffel 2 Div 9 Karma 21 - 0 Borg Collective Karma prodded the Borgs one last time, but as there were no response they got an undisputed win. Cold Dead Hands 18 - 8 RED AXE The Deaders managed to get another handfull of ojectives. And as the Axemen called it a day, the Deaders got a 2-1 win. Gamer`s United 58 - 61 Banditos The Bandits waited long enough for the Gamers to believe they had already won before they struck. The carefull planned offensive washed over the Gamers outposts like a tidal wave. The gamers tried to rally their forces and fight back, but as their last four strikes had a 75% failure rate the Bandits won in the end Dawn Patrol 4 - 0 H.o.G. No more fighting were reported, so Dawn Patrol got an almost bloodless unopposed win against the HoG`s. Probable Round 2 matchups: Karma - Dawn Patrol Cold Dead Hands - Banditos Gamer`s United - RED AXE Borg Collective - H.o.G.

THIS!!! im not the biggest levi stan by any stretch but i think about this often actually. forgive me for using this as a springboard to ramble But to me levi was arguably the earliest to become “corrupted” (i point often to simeon's home screen line of "when did leviathan become like this), and honestly it all comes down to bad luck and a lack of support.
to me, levi's strength primarily comes from those around him. he likes being a part of things. as an admiral that would have served him well. while i wouldn't be surprised if he copied other angels in higher positions in him (like michael, lucifer) i doubt he would have ever felt as out of reach as they did, a little less intimidating, a little more personable. we see pretty often that levi is actually pretty used to jumping in and managing conversations for people who aren't so good at it (even if it's usually within the context of diavolo doesn't know gamer speak) but i think that part of him largely reflects how he used to function. he's *incredibly* passionate as a person, and back then i imagine his passion - and desire to share and teach that same thing - would've been for strategy, taking care of lotan and building a bond. like his silly little rpg characters, leviathan cared *so* deeply for his comrades, and i think his capacity to distance himself enough from worrying about them to build the best strategy was probably his best strength. the same thoughts that lead him to minmaxxing his equipment now used to be drawing out the best strengths in others. say what you will about levi being cringe about wanting to live in a fantasy but in some respects that *was* his life. leading a unit of people and working together with them to defeat evil. he was never worried about whether people liked him because he had real, tangible proof. it felt earned, and praise felt real, and deserved.
and then there's a ceasefire.
and sure, there's probably some relief tied to that news, but levi is a strategist, not a politician. he can't be apart of peace talks and negotiations, and while it's possible he kept training and preparing /just in case/, that can only last so long before he truly feels he's lost his purpose. like the suspension bridge effect wore off and the people who cared about him just...aren't his friends anymore. and realistically, that's probably not true. i think it's more likely levi isolated himself again and again by trying to cling onto his old role, either being too commanding and imposing out of habit or only being able to talk about the past - something i think a lot of angels wouldn't want to constantly speak about. (all trauma symptoms, but yknow. it's war.)
and boredom really is his enemy during this time. there's nothing for him to do, and all that does is hammer in his lack of purpose, lack of *use*, and empty reassurance telling him he's not useless, he has his own merits, aren't helpful in the face of another empty day. and there could have been solutions to this, easily, but for all the goodness the celestial realm represents, emotional wellbeing and care doesn't seem to exactly be their strength. so it gets brushed off, and levi just keeps cycling.
(unknowingly, this is another point in which lucifer leads his brothers to becoming demons before he himself even made that choice. levi copies his elders in a desperate attempt to be like them and regain the worth he used to feel like them and doesn't tell people how he /really/ feels, repressing until he can't and all that's left is him being openly uncomfortably self deprecating. and of course, even michael and lucifer don't bear their concerns alone. they advise each other, and lucifer in particular has simeon. but levi doesn't see that)
to him, going with lucifer probably felt like the only way to grab a hold of his fate again. i don't think it was a decision without conflict, because surely there was a part of him whispering it would just be easier to stay, that if there was war again he could do what he always did, but levi has always been coloured by his own sense of justice, and it wouldn't allow for that. falling with his brothers, for his sister, was always more climactic, more fulfilling than ceasefire forever, and he's desperate, and maybe a little too scared to come out from his brother's wings now that he believes he can't do anything himself. of course, the unfortunate thing there is that they're about to lose their wings, literal or otherwise. the crux of levi's character, to me, is self actualisation. i'd argue that can apply to the majority of the brothers, but this isn't about them. levi was only ever going to be envy because he's so reliant on bonds. even in super romantic moments levi emphasises that he wants you to be his friend, his best friend, because that kind of relationship is something he really genuinely needs, even if that doesn't change how he feels about you. platonic comradery is SO important to him, and he knows that, but i don't think he really gets why.
he wants things he can't have. that's how envy works. maybe his resentment to mammon comes, in part, out of envy that greed can take what it wants and find short lived happiness in that. envy is always out of reach. and he wallows in it. i want what you have. everything i can't have. but his power and strength have /always/ come from his ability to see others' strengths, recognise it, and direct them together. an admiral is nothing without troops. he wants so badly to be inherently talented, inherently "good" in some way, but he just...isn't. not like that, at least. he can't be like lucifer, because it was just never meant to be. he can't be like lucifer, who seems good at everything without work, because no one *is* like that, no one's meant to be like that, but levi can't bear to put the work he needs to in to do the things he wants to because he just can't visualise it. he's scared to daydream of a reality he'd like because the prospect of working towards it is just so overwhelming and he really does feel alone. so of course he goes to books and games and anime to retreat. no matter how convoluted, there's clear paths from point a to b. he can see his objectives. he has a clear purpose, complexity and conflict that comes with resolution and relief, here. he needs to find a way to set goals towards happiness within his reach, but he just...can’t. not alone. he can’t do anything alone. (so he says, and he’s wrong, because he’s stronger than he thinks, and he’s right, because there’s no such thing as a person unchanged by others) (no hope without strife, no bravery without fear)
none of this does anything for his heart in the real world, and he's stuck in this self perpetuating isolation, but maybe *you* can help with that, right?
ok tbh I have something I always wanted to see, has anyone ever made a fanfic of Leviathan's background of when he was an admiral? I always wanted to see someone's interpretation of how he was before he became our otaku gamer boy. Since the game just throws " AY LEVI wAS AN ADMIRAL OF HELL'S ARMY" and never mentions it again and I've been obsessed with it ever since like how was he before??? what made him so insecure???? I WANNA KNOW!!
#ive had things in my brain for months and just never written it out#not proofread even slightly#writing#obm leviathan#obey me leviathan#obm levi#obey me levi

US Strikes Terrorists In Syria, Officials Say 40 Killed
The missiles focused leaders of terrorist teams and allied factions close to Idlib. (Representational)
Idlib:
US forces attacked terrorists in Syria Saturday, the Pentagon mentioned, in what a battlefield track referred to as a missile strike that left no less than 40 lifeless.
The US Defense Department mentioned the assault focused leaders of Al-Qaeda in Syria north of Idlib. It didn’t say what sort of weapon used to be used or give any main points.
The missiles focused leaders of terrorist teams and allied factions close to Idlib, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights mentioned.
Syrian authorities air moves at the terrorist-run Idlib area had stopped on Saturday, after the regime agreed to a Russia-backed ceasefire following 4 months of fatal bombardment, the track mentioned.
But “a missile attack targeted a meeting held by the leaders of Hurras al-Deen, Ansar al-Tawhid and other allied groups inside a training camp” close to Idlib town, mentioned Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Observatory.
The assault killed no less than 40 terrorist leaders, the Britain primarily based track mentioned.
The US Central Command mentioned in a remark that the assault focused leaders of Al-Qaeda in Syria (AQ-S) “responsible for attacks threatening US citizens, our partners and innocent civilians. Additionally, the removal of this facility will further degrade their ability to conduct future attacks and destabilize the region.”
An AFP correspondent noticed clouds of black smoke emerging over the world after blasts rocked the terrorist stronghold.
Ambulances rushed to the website online of the assault, which used to be closed off to newshounds, he mentioned.
It used to be no longer instantly transparent if the missiles had been introduced from conflict planes or positions at the flooring, the track mentioned.
CENTCOM declined to mention what sort of weaponry used to be used.
Multiple exterior actors
The truce that got here into impact on Saturday is the second one such settlement between the Syrian regime and terrorists since an August 1 ceasefire deal masking the Idlib area broke down handiest days after going into impact.
Russia-backed regime forces had been urgent an offensive towards the foremost opposition stronghold in Idlib since April.
But Russia and Damascus don’t seem to be the one gamers with a historical past of strike task within the house.
On July 1 the United States mentioned it had performed a strike on Hurras al-Deen in northwestern Syria, in its first such operation there in two years.
Al-Qaeda-linked Hurras al-Deen used to be established in February 2018 and has some 1,800 warring parties, together with non-Syrians, in keeping with the Observatory.
The staff and its best friend Ansar al-Tawhid each perform within the Idlib area and are individuals of a joint terrorist operation room that still comprises Al-Qaeda’s former Syria associate, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
Most of Idlib province and portions of neighbouring Aleppo and Latakia provinces are managed by way of HTS.
Syrian state information company SANA on Saturday mentioned the federal government agreed to the Idlib ceasefire deal, which Russia mentioned aimed “to stabilise the situation” within the anti-government bastion.
But the military “reserves the right to respond to violations” by way of terrorist and allied insurrection teams, SANA added, mentioning a Syrian army supply.
The Idlib area is house to a few 3 million other people, just about part of whom had been displaced from different portions of Syria.
Air moves by way of Damascus and Russia have killed greater than 950 civilians for the reason that finish of April, in keeping with the Observatory.
The United Nations says the violence has additionally displaced greater than 400,000 other people.
The Idlib area is meant to be secure from a large authorities offensive by way of a Turkish-Russian deal struck in September 2018 that used to be by no means totally applied as terrorist refused to withdraw from a deliberate demilitarised cordon.
Turkey backs rebels in northwestern Syria.
“Russia and the Syrian government may be willing to give Turkey another opportunity to implement the terms of its September 2018 bilateral agreement with Russia,” mentioned Sam Heller of the International Crisis Group.
“Alternately, this ceasefire may just be an operational pause for Damascus and Moscow to consolidate their territorial gains and prepare for the next phase of their offensive,” the Syria knowledgeable added.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whose forces keep an eye on round 60 consistent with cent of territory, has vowed to reclaim the remainder of the rustic, together with Idlib.
Medical centre attacked
Saturday’s truce is the most recent try to avert a full-blown offensive, which the UN has mentioned would lead to probably the most worst humanitarian “nightmares” in Syria’s eight-year war.
Only a couple of hours ahead of it went into impact, a Russian air strike hit a well being facility in Aleppo’s western geographical region, placing it out of carrier, the Observatory mentioned.
The UN has mentioned 43 hospitals and clinics and 87 tutorial amenities had been impacted by way of combating since April.
“The attacks we have seen on health facilities, educational facilities and water points is one of the highest in the world,” Panos Moumtzis, the UN’s Syria humanitarian leader, informed AFP.
The Syrian war has killed greater than 370,000 other people and pushed tens of millions from their houses because it began with the brutal repression of anti-government protests in 2011.

THE ORIGINS OF CARROM
Carrom is understood in totally different areas of the world in alternative ways: kayrum (Arabic), caroom, karom, couronne, carum, karam and finger billiards.

The Wa Art of Not Being Governed
PANGKHAM, WA State. MYANMAR — “Nothing is positive listed here, anything is switching. Anything right here is momentary. You really do not have a certification, you really don’t have something official. You will need to stand on your toes in order to be in a position to survive listed here.”
These terms exemplify the truth several ethnic Wa confront in Pangkham, the cash of Wa condition in northern Myanmar. Unrecognized by the Burmese government other than as a “special location,” Wa condition is approximately the dimension of Belgium. Mostly with out Myanmar ID playing cards but determinately not Chinese, the ethnic Wa have extended inhabited the mountains that divide China’s Yunnan province and eastern Myanmar and for yrs were being observed as crucial gamers in the region’s opium cultivation and trade. Wa state is household to the United Wa Condition Get together (UWSA), the major non-condition armed team in East Asia, which occupies a vital mediating position in China-Myanmar relations.
April 17, 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of an interior coup inside of the Communist Celebration of Burma (CPB) by the Wa, the ethnic the greater part in just the get together ranks, an celebration which led to the formation of the UWSA. To mark this celebration, the Wa held a 3-working day celebration, and invited international observers and journalists to the Pangkham as component of an ongoing course of action to open to the outside earth and enhance their international image.

Throughout a few days of festivities, the Wa projected a vision of autonomy that targeted on a mixture of navy could possibly and a reinvigoration of Wa cultural id amongst a rapid inflow of Chinese cultural and political affect. The commander-in-main of the UWSA, Bao Youxiang, reasserted Wa state’s requires for confederate position as an formally acknowledged autonomous condition inside the Union of Myanmar. That technique is at odds with the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), the peace process supported by Western governments and favored by the Mynamar authorities, but which has been deadlocked for decades. For the Wa, signing the NCA would be a major stage backwards from their present-day 1989 ceasefire settlement with the governing administration, which has tested to be valuable, enabling the UWSA in the vicinity of-entire autonomy from Myanmar even though allowing them to leverage their geographic placement straddling the border with China.
Myanmar’s democratically elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who declined the UWSA’s invitation to show up at the glitzy Pangkham celebration, has tested as ineffective as her predecessor, former General Thein Sein, at going the stalled nationwide peace method ahead. Continuing to dismiss the UWSA’s requires to recognize what the group phone calls Wa state, which to the UWSA also features a next portion the team seized from Khun Sa along the Thai border in the late 1990s at the behest of the then-ruling military services routine, could have severe implications for the Girl.
A cursory look at the each day economic system in Pangkham reveals what would surface to be starkly various sides of Wa point out. This affluent metropolis with clean up streets and significant hotels exists at the margin of equally China and Myanmar, with progress assignments and new roadways further than the scope of Naypyidaw’s eyesight nevertheless also distinctly motivated by the Chinese. There are sector stalls providing generate, outlets marketing low-priced Chinese clothes, and shopkeepers buying and selling their wares. There is also a flourishing illicit economic climate, which incorporates endangered wildlife trade, the pink glint of late-night massage parlors-cum-brothels, and significant casinos and luxurious inns.
China’s rapprochement with Wa point out management and their economic and cultural ties have led some to connect with Wa point out a “shanzhai” China. “Shanzhai” is a Mandarin-language phrase now utilized to refer to counterfeit shopper merchandise, nevertheless it actually translates to mountain stronghold or village, derived from tales of hidden treasures amassed by mountain warlords. Paradoxically, it is the mountainous territory that had very long secured the Wa from the reaches of huge centralized states, until finally the the Chinese communist army and Burmese military moved into the Wa hills in the 1950s, and the CPB conquered the spot in 1971 and ‘72. Even though numerous analysists have claimed that the Wa’s recent navy strengthening is thanks solely to Chinese influence, it is crystal clear that a great deal of this approach emerged in the aftermath of the purge of Khin Nyunt, the Burmese main of intelligence and the Wa’s primary ally in Burmese federal government and the military services. Just one senior Wa official spelled out of the Wa-Burmese romantic relationship: “We’re brothers, we’ve generally been connected, we have a extensive-standing romance — but we even now desire autonomy.”
Wa troopers march in parade formation to mark the 30th Peace Anniversary held in the Wa Point out capitol, Pangkham, on April 17, 2019. Photo by Bryan Dickie.
Whilst Maoist militarism permeates nearby culture and Chinese language signs adorn the streets of Pangkham, for the duration of the anniversary routines, Chairman Bao Youxiang stressed that the Wa are more then a vassal point out of China.
Is it in section since of the character of the Wa’s impact — as brokers involving China and other ethnic armed teams in Myanmar — that the Burmese search for for them to be vilified and forgotten?
“The Burmese governing administration do not want foreigners to know about the Wa. They just want to maintain them being alone,” a single Wa villager, who requested to remain unnamed, explained. “The govt should be understanding. Since we have long been neglected.” The remark highlights the tenuous nature of lifestyle for the Wa, a pariah within a nation generally missed in the West.
Whispers of malevolent puppet-masters and Chinese overlords have mystified the Wa and diminish their culture and heritage to a single of subservience to exterior forces. The Wa consider them selves to be the original inhabitants of their land, and with an Austroasiatic tradition and language, they may have arrived in this article tens of hundreds of years in the past. Nonetheless the Wa people today have very long been exoticized, both in the colonial creativeness and in the minds of the Burmese and Chinese, who have seen them as hazardous “others.” A mythos of savage headhunting clings to the Wa to this working day. Selectively sensationalistic accounts of Wa point out have also strengthened the perceived divide in between the Wa and their Burmese counterparts.
The Wa are eager to shed their popularity as drug warlords, to elevate the veil of secrecy that these hills have harbored and outsiders have fostered in excess of the very last several hundred many years. While financial advancement precipitated by the drug trade is undoubtably central to the successes of Wa point out, the Wa are eager to pressure different varieties of enhancement going forwards. Without the need of this, the Wa are mindful that every thing they have developed might indeed be short term. Bao Youxiang has aligned himself with an anti-drug agenda, with an opium eradication software mostly eradicating the crop by 2005. However, Western governments continue to be suspicious of the Wa, who have been pegged by analysts in the earlier as the major drug producers in Asia. Gurus assert opium has only been changed by extra lucrative and centralized methamphetamine output.
Methamphetamine generation has supposedly furthered the centralization of belongings, when getting rid of the classic opium-based mostly tributes as a form of taxation that experienced very long been present in the area. Opium taxation had some advantages, in so significantly that area farmers could subsist though paying out taxes in the sort of a crop they already cultivated, bringing the market place right to the farmer rather then forcing farmers to contend with the rapidly declining rates of Chinese deliver and other solutions these kinds of as rubber.
Curiously, the latest 2018 Myanmar Opium Survey released by the UN Office environment on Medication and Criminal offense (UNODC) has rightly faced severe criticism from ethnic armed opposition corporations, as it made plenty of mistakes that mistook govt-backed militias for other ethnic armed teams these as the Kachin Independence Business (KIO) and Shan Condition Army South (SSA-S). Regardless of whether the UWSA-s additional the latest economic pursuits — together with tin mining to this kind of a scale that they flooded the globe marketplace and significant involvement in Myanmar’s remarkably profitable jade trade — are any more ethical than preceding strategy of boosting resources is a pertinent issue.
United Wa State Army Chairman Bao Youxiang waves to the group as he exits the 30th Anniversary Peace celebrations held on April 17, 2019 in Pangkham. Photograph by Bryan Dickie.
In his speech, Bao highlighted a new eyesight of enhancement, praising Wa state’s achievements of developing a market place financial system and “opening up to the outdoors earth.” This thought of opening up to the environment is increasingly crucial to Wa elites, who anxiety that their existence is not basically a person of precarious coexistence between states, but fairly an emphasis on the autonomy and cultural variety of the location. As 1 unnamed neighborhood discussed, “In 1989 everyone referred to as us rebels. But now the Wa can assert that they are an ethnic team in their own appropriate within just Myanmar, that they share some facets of our lifestyle, and that folks can visit below.”
Having said that, financial enhancement is incredibly substantially a do the job-in-progress. As an influential Wa determine who also asked to continue to be unnamed defined: “We really don’t have instructional guidance, like superior-schools. I consider we ought to have a faculty, or some form of instruction center that can refresh our minds. It is not great that men and women are just signing up for the armed forces.” Many Wa confront pressured conscription and unpaid army company along with inadequate education and learning provision and healthcare companies, when the knock-on effects of opium eradication have experienced profound results on the livelihoods of the rural farmers that form the bulk of the inhabitants of Wa condition.
Balancing the ambitious vision of the foreseeable future projected by the Wa management with the harsh realities of daily existence is anything that the Wa will have to appear to terms with transferring into the upcoming. Even though the management has aged, the kids and family of numerous in the leadership ranks have had the rewards of staying sheltered from these realities, often staying educated overseas. They are now returning dwelling with a extra progressive world-wide eyesight for the foreseeable future of Wa point out.
Eventually, as Bao Youxiang declared, “The Wa men and women are masters of their individual future at this essential stage in background.” For the Wa, de facto statehood has by now been attained. They are at a juncture the place they have to navigate raising regional and intercontinental tension to maintain their autonomy, and wish a extra steady chapter of worldwide relations, wherever they are far more open to the planet, have both of those legal rights inside the Union of Myanmar whilst also keeping the autonomy they have extensive cherished.

Easy Contract Kills
Once you find a comm tower and listen to Deep Voice, You will get a assassination contract. Now, these would be simple if it weren’t for one thing. The main problem is that your targets will mostly be inside the cease-fire zone. You must plan these strikes, or you will get mowed down by both sides.
Tips:
1. Don’t go up high. This not only makes you a better target, but you must enter a building to go up, hence cutting off your escape rout.
2. Never strike from inside a building. Same reason as before. If the target is in a building, snipe though the window.
3. Use your bolt holes. These are the small holes in the fences that can be used as a quick escape and a stealthy approach in.
4. USE the bus station. After the job is done, you will have more angry goons after you then STDs in this country. The bus station throws you on the other side of the map, making it impossible to be traced. Try to stay close to them when you take the shot.
5. Be quiet. You are going to draw enough attention when you fire a gun. Use silenced weapons. Mainly the Dart Rifle. And don’t miss!
6. Don’t be a hero. Go in, Take the shot, get out. Do nothing else!
7. Set up for a good show. Observe your target, observe the area, Use cars to block the ally ways to your target to stop the goon squad. Don’t block your bolt holes. Then cover your tracks by using pre placed IEDs to blow up the cars so no LMGs for the baddies.
8. RUN!
