Hey everyone~

I hope you’re having a good start to the week. So I recently asked my Patreon supporters about customizing MC's room. The feedback was very helpful and I’ve decided to go with the following:

Choose the style – Boho, Dark Academia, Minimalism (Etc)

Display hobby Items / RO Items – Books, Gaming setup/ G’s sweater from ch. 1, M’s book from ch. 1(Etc)

If that isn't your cup of tea, you'll have the option to skip customization and have a default room.

This will add to coding/writing, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

My controversial game design opinion is that "environmental storytelling" should be actually, tangibly present within the game's environments. Hitting the player with a paragraph of lore every time they click on a random item in their inventory is not environmental storytelling – it's just hiding an epistolary novel in your game's UI.

as my own direct immediate list of game grievances i hate that stardew valley expects you to side against a wheelchair user who is upset that he was moved without his consent. i hate that the mass effect trilogy gives you visible scarring as a direct result of choosing mean dialogue and heals it if you're nice. i hate that the vampire the masquerade ttrpg has a monstrous player class that can appear as horrible vampiric monsters or as visibly disabled people and both of these appearances are mechanically the same. i hate that dark souls games have a difficulty level implemented in a way that cannot be adjusted for disability. i hate that i can play as a mermaid or a werewolf or a horse in the sims games but can't use a wheelchair. i hate that the ace attorney games have so much flashing and not all of the games can disable it. i hate that disability is constantly something that happens to teach a lesson, i hate that disability is something that happens as a punishment, i hate that disability is either compensated perfectly with no drawbacks or something that is endlessly sought to be cured. i hate that no character customization will ever include the mobility aids i use, that the player avatars that represent me will never look like me. i am so goddamn annoyed and so goddamn tired.

i think my favourite part of the ratfish episodes are the fact that it's the most accurate portrayal of friendship i can think of. here's all your friends but they're anonymous, make each other laugh. it's always one specific thing that would make no one else bat an eye that makes you get made by someone else. katie made a joke about anti-depressants and immediately got clocked by rekha. zac mentioned publix and grant went "that's zac." grant chose a bette midler song and ally went "gay ass. probably grant." zac didn't get any vibes at all from steven and realised he knows his friends better than this. i do not know this person in real life.

Video game I saw in a dream. It was in this low poly style like an older video game. You play as this character I think was meant to be a lamb, or maybe a weird mix of a lamb a mouse and a rabbit, (while not really looking like any of those things) and you’re running away from a wolf. Your objective is to last as long as possible before the wolf catches and eats you.

The house you’re running in is endless and bizarrely put together like most building interiors in dreams are (like the infinite toilet dream dimension on Reddit lol) the layout of the house is pretty detailed, you can stop and hide in places like closets or bins while the wolf looks for you, you can go up and down stairs and into rooms etc.

You never actually know where the wolf is or how close it is to you until it appears in your line of sight, it makes no noise and the game gives you no way of knowing where it is, and it’s pretty unpredictable it doesnt move at a consistent pace. When the wolf catches you there’s an animation showing it eating your character

i actually think it’s so significant that disco elysium is named after an optional side quest. because the heart of the game is in the margins. same way you don’t get the real ending if you don’t do the (let’s face it, sometimes annoying and disincentivised) cryptozoologist quest line. you have to care about the world and its people, not just grinding through the mystery, to ever really understand anything. which is exactly what the game of suzerainty tells you IF you don’t try to “win”

Will there be jealousy dynamics? Will both the MC and ROs (and Chris & Jen I guess) be able to feel jealousy/envy? Can we intentially try to make people jealous (and vice versa) and will we have ways to handle jealousy? I want my MC to be messy lol

My first MC will romance Kara and I need to know how absolutely unhinged and chaotic (and angsty) it can be haha. Amazing demo so far and I can’t wait to read more!

Yup! There's a hidden variable to help keep track. MC and the RO's will each be able to experience envy/jealousy. Say in a future chapter you're flirting with ex: Cam/Ardent. They'll take notice (and what an absolute shit show it will be!!!). You can try and make them jealous just be prepared for what happens when you do!!!

I'm very much allowing MC to be petty jealous as well, pouting wet cat! Some characters are quicker to jealousy than others, some are kind of oblivious about it, and some won't really mind much unless in relationship stage.
