How to Mix and Match Wall Art for a Cohesive and Stylish Home
Decorating your home with wall art can elevate its style and personality. From vintage pieces to modern art, the right choice of wall hangings can transform your living space. Whether you're creating a focal point or looking to add some charm to your rooms, mixing and matching wall art can create a visually appealing and cohesive look. If you’re wondering how to blend various types of art pieces, this guide will provide helpful tips. Let's explore how to make the most of your wall art and create a stylish and harmonious atmosphere.
1. Understand the Space and Theme of Your Home
Before you start mixing and matching wall art, it’s essential to consider the overall theme and layout of your home. Wall art should complement the space, not overwhelm it. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Room Style: Are you designing a modern, traditional, or eclectic space? Choose wall art that fits the style of the room. For example, a Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging works well in homes with a more traditional or spiritual design.
Colors: Consider the color scheme of your room. If the walls are neutral, colorful art can add vibrancy. Alternatively, if your room has bold colors, opt for wall art in softer shades.
Space Size: Larger pieces of art work well in larger rooms, while smaller art pieces are ideal for smaller spaces.
2. Start with a Focal Point
One of the easiest ways to create a cohesive look when mixing wall art is by starting with a focal piece. This is usually a larger art piece that will serve as the anchor for your room. A Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging, with its spiritual and ornate design, can serve as the centerpiece in your living room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Place it in a central location: Whether above a sofa, fireplace, or entryway, the focal piece should be positioned in a place where it draws attention.
Create symmetry: For a balanced look, position smaller pieces around the focal point. This prevents the room from feeling cluttered and ensures the art flows well together.
3. Mix Different Art Styles
When mixing wall art, try combining different styles to create an interesting and dynamic look. A mix of paintings, photographs, and sculptures can add texture and depth to your walls. Here's how to do it right:
Blend modern and traditional styles: A contemporary painting paired with a Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging offers a rich contrast. The key is to balance the styles by ensuring they both fit the room's color palette and design.
Use varied sizes: Different sizes of art pieces can help fill the space effectively. While a large Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging can dominate one wall, a series of smaller framed prints can balance it out without overpowering the space.
4. Create a Gallery Wall
A gallery wall is a fun way to showcase various pieces of art while still maintaining a sense of cohesion. To do this successfully, consider the following:
Choose a theme or color palette: Even if you're mixing different art styles, it helps to have a unifying theme or color scheme. For instance, you could choose art with earthy tones to complement the rich brass tones of a Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging.
Arranging the pieces: Start by placing the largest pieces first, then add smaller pieces around them. The spacing between each piece should be consistent, and a good rule of thumb is to leave 2 to 3 inches between each frame.
5. Mix Textures and Materials
Wall art isn’t just limited to framed pictures. Experiment with different textures and materials to add dimension to your walls. Here's how:
Add metal elements: Incorporating metal pieces like a Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging brings in a touch of luxury and elegance. Combine it with soft textiles such as fabric or canvas prints to create a balance.
Wood and Canvas: A wood-framed painting paired with a canvas print can offer a rustic yet modern appeal.
6. Layering and Overlapping Art Pieces
Layering is an effective way to give your space a more artistic and curated feel. Instead of keeping all the art pieces evenly spaced, allow some to overlap slightly, adding depth and interest.
Start with a base: Begin with larger pieces and place smaller art in front, or off to the side. This creates a sense of dimension.
Use a neutral background: If your walls are painted in soft tones, you can layer bolder pieces, while darker walls might require a mix of lighter artworks to avoid overwhelming the space.
7. Consider the Framing
Frames play a significant role in how wall art is perceived. Whether you're going for a minimalist look or something more ornate, the right frame can tie the room together.
Matching frames for cohesion: If you have a variety of art pieces, matching frames in the same color or style can create a cohesive look.
Different frames for variety: On the other hand, mixing different frame styles can create an eclectic vibe. Just ensure that the frames complement the artwork and don't clash.
8. Don't Forget the Lighting
Lighting can enhance the beauty of wall art and make it the focal point of your room. Proper lighting can highlight key pieces, including your Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging. Consider these tips:
Accent lighting: Use track lights, wall sconces, or spotlights to illuminate the artwork and create visual interest.
Natural light: If your room gets ample natural light, make sure to place the artwork where it can catch the light without fading over time.
9. Keep the Balance
When mixing and matching wall art, always strive for balance. Too many pieces of art on one wall can feel chaotic, while too few may leave the space feeling empty. It’s all about finding the right balance between quantity, size, and color.
Spacing is key: Don't overcrowd the walls with art. Leave some space between each piece to allow the artwork to breathe and be appreciated.
Odd number of pieces: An odd number of items, like three or five pieces, tends to create a more pleasing and natural arrangement.
10. Personalize Your Wall Art
Lastly, remember that wall art should reflect your personal style and preferences. Choose art pieces that hold meaning to you, whether it's a family portrait, a favorite quote, or a piece that resonates with your beliefs, like a Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging that brings positivity and prosperity.
Meaningful art: Incorporating personal or meaningful artwork will create a space that feels more inviting and true to your style.
Conclusion
Mixing and matching wall art can be a fun and creative process that adds character and charm to your home. By following these tips, you can create a stylish and cohesive display that enhances your living space. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures, colors, and styles, but always keep balance and harmony in mind. And remember, whether you choose modern art or a traditional Brass Ashta Lakshmi Wall Hanging, the key is to make the space your own while enjoying the process of curating your art collection.

I have extensive reasons why I think the new Egyptian Museum in Giza will be a huge improvement, but also visiting the old building was absolutely one of my favorite museum-going experiences of all time. There was next to no interpretation and I wasn't able to prep, so most of the time was just me wandering through the statue and stonework galleries having a very internal and contemplative experience, looking at things closely and asking myself what I could identify, what I could make an educated guess about. Occasionally getting stared at by a bunch of middle schoolers who all started giggling and yelling if I smiled at them.
And now unfortunately my toxic trait is announcing "I've seen that" every time the Narmer Tablet gets shown in a documentary or whatever.
#and then you get to the second floor and it's just case after case of ushabtis and amulets like trophy heads on a wall#stripped of context no interpretation a 19th century colonizer's idea of a museum#and just a conservation nightmare I salute every conservation tech who works there because the building is stacked against them#all the modern interpretation and galleries were really good though so I have high hopes#this all brought to you by me planning a museum visit#anartext

Get Your Art Fix!
"Being sexy is a part of who I am, but there are so many other sides. I get to show that I don't take myself so seriously." ~ Carmen Electra
"Carmen, Feathers" by Markus Klinko, 2006
Arty-Fact: Markus went for a concept contrary to the model and television star’s typically sexy bombshell image for his shoot with Carmen Electra. He photographed her as a kohl-eyed goddess of the silent film era.

How to Spice Up Your Living Room Wall Decor: Tips and Ideas
Transform your living room walls from bland to beautiful with these creative decorating ideas. Learn how Looking to give your living room a stylish update? Check out our expert tips and creative ideas for transforming your walls into a stunning focal point. From choosing the right color palette to creating a gallery wall and using statement pieces, we've got you covered. Whether you're a minimalist or maximalist, our guide will help you elevate your living room wall decor with ease.
Here’s the deal. Choosing art for your home doesn’t always come naturally. For some, it may even be the most challenging part of tying a room together. And while questions like how do I choose the right size or the right colors to fit my space? and how do I pair different pieces of art together? are common, they can also feel overwhelming if you don’t know where to begin.
Whether you feel stuck trying to decide what kind of art will look good in your space, or you already know what you like and simply need to find the right one, we’re here to help guide you toward identifying pieces that fit your style and your space.
We've found that embracing this simple statement can help set the tone for making your wall art selection:
ART IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SELF-EXPRESSION
Consider viewing your walls as a blank canvas. As an opportunity to showcase your personality in a fun way—through color, subject, and composition. Because it’s often what we choose to hang on our walls that makes a space feel uniquely our own.

That’s the beautiful thing about art—it’s a reflection of how personal and individual telling the story of your home is. It exists to remind us where we’ve been, what we love, and it reflects the beauty we are drawn to.
With that in mind, it’s important to understand that choosing art is more of an intuitive process than you might think, and no one is better equipped to tell your story than you. But, from a practical point of view, there are a few steps you can follow to help guide your purchase, and make it a worthwhile investment.

CONSIDER YOUR AVAILABLE WALL SPACE
The first step to choosing a piece of wall art is determining what kind of real estate you have. If you want to get the sizing just right, now is the time to grab the tape measure.
If you have a larger wall to fill or are wanting one statement piece to anchor your space, look for large-scale art. These pieces have the potential to make a really big impact on a space!
Whether you have a large or small wall to fill and are hoping to bring several pieces of art into the space, consider a gallery wall. A good starting point here is to pair complementary styles and colors together. Assessing what’s currently in your space—style, color, and pattern themes—can also help you decide what makes sense on your gallery wall.
If you’re looking to add a little visual interest in a cozier space or something simple to finish out a corner or nook, opt for smaller frames.
CONSIDER YOUR EXISTING DECOR
Before purchasing new wall art for a specific space, take stock of what decor and furniture you already have in there. For a mostly neutral room, rich or colorful art could be great to infuse. Or, if you already have plenty of color, texture, and pattern, look for simpler, more subdued art pieces.
PAIR COMPLEMENTARY STYLES + COLORS TOGETHER
Our wall art is categorized by style to help you identify pieces that you're naturally drawn to. Go bold and mix styles or stick to the genre that feels right to you. To make it even simpler, consider art that’s sold as a pair.
There isn’t a set formula for grouping art together, so enjoy the process of trying something new in your space!
This robust collection is filled with pieces for any space and any style. We hope you’ll find something here that you love, and that adds a renewed sense of joy and meaning to your home.
